My reply to that would steer us into religious territory. Suffice to say, I'm not voting for Romney if it's a question of Obama vs. Romney.

What part of "Obama vs. Romney" don't you get? I would certainly pick Romney over Bachmann and Gingrich. Not sure about Paul (never sure about Paul ) and have no idea who Huntsman even is. First I've heard the name, actually.

I understand that. I guess you didn't pick up on what I was getting at.

He's the TL;DR version of Ron Paul minus the... extreme beliefs. As is Gary Johnson. The latter is a badass who climbed Mount Everest, though. And mew, yes, we do agree there is corruption, but as Talon said, we disagree on the nature of the corruption. The tea party believes the corruption is from within the government, while occupy sees the corruption coming from corporations. The truth is that it's a mixture of the two, and one that is fueled to death by lobbying and, as you said, insider trading. The tea party started with reasonable anger, but shifted to a partisan viewpoint and sold itself out in 2009 to Rupert Murdoch and the Koch Brothers, among other corporations. Living proof that that's exactly what's wrong with this country. Holy balls I would be floored if you replied with "Well fuck, it looks like you're right and I just don't know what they fuck I should do anymore, because it looks like I fucking hate all of them now!", but that's not going to happen. I am telling you mew. Over and over and over and fucking over. As a former republican and "tea partier", get the fuck out while you still can. Last edited by deoxys; 12-05-2011 at 01:05 AM. |

While the private sector can be corrupt, as evidenced by these recent laws we've been made aware of, no one company can influence government as drastically as you claim. And if it's a combination of companies, then it's quite easily a valid interest (even if the legislation may be written poorly). Companies have to employ people, and they have to compete with every other company in their market, if they don't have a product people want, they go under. Ultimately, it is We the People who empower business, for good or for ill. It's not out of charity that we receive their goods and services, and self interest has, and always will, feed more mouths then charity could ever dream of, as controversial as that may be to say. IMO, I couldn't care less how someone wants to "steal the country away from me," so long as they "steal" it constitutionally, and reinstate completely the constitutional bounds government was meant to have, through constitutional means. My problem with Obama is, He's not interested in improving the Country, no matter how much he states otherwise, by his fruits we know him. Socialist, hates the country, big government, associated with actual terrorists (of a non-islamic kind), and Marxists. The economic collapse is entirely his fault, he's literally and purposefully accrewed more debt in his time in office then The entire history of our country combined. These are undeniable, when you see the evidence. Unfortunately, it seems you've not seen it yet. I think that's a topic for a different thread though. No, Reagan, an actor without any prior affiliation to government. IMO, he's done almost as much for our country as George Washington. Quote:
How is that any different then being Racially Prejudiced? Or is there a legitimate fear about what Romney may do with the country were he to be elected? Quote:
The problem with Lobbying, is, it's a revolving door, once a congress member (particularly a democrat) expires their terms, they pick up a big comfy job as a lobbyist lobbying for their pet liberal organization, and the money feeds back and forth out of our Tax Dollars. The ROOT of the problem is Government. Of course business has a part, but, why does business even need to lobby? Because government keeps imposing itself on it, they lobby for exceptions, because the legislation is designed to strangle business, so the businesses with the biggest donations get waivers and exemptions, and the rest get dumped on, which really helps the exempted business even more, which are usually in the congress members district, so they curry favorable votes by ensuring the restrictions never apply to their "friends," and any business with enough power that wants to level the playing field for all, is just shooting themselves in the foot. And of course, self interest trumps all, as is natural and proper. And Government manipulates other's self interest in their own self interest, and the unobservant public's self interest is ignored, because they're not paying attention to the insides of their own government like they ought. .. It seems I got into a rant. ^^; Regarding the TEA party, I believe they went partisian because the root beliefs were conservative, and Republican is the only party for conservatives, and since third parties always end up taking away from Republican base and letting Democrats win (Bill Clinton for example), it is a more politically advantageous position to re-energize the true "base," then to form and define a new party and split our voting power in half vs a whole other party. Quote:
But if it really is as you say, what would you have me do? You haven't told me what put you off from Conservative Principles to begin with. What proof have you of their inadequacy? What's so wrong with the people you've discounted? |

Sounds like Conspiracy to me. I can't take this site seriously, so I'll look for another one. http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/Art...aspx?e=3390834 This one made me chuckle. Though it's full of hyberbole (which he may or may not agree with fully), it does describe the mechanics of economy quite well. It doesn't really address the issues surrounding these allegedly infamous people though. Let's see... http://bravenewfilms.org/blog/?p=72724 This article (I didn't watch the video), seems to make a better case. Apparently Rupert Murdock controls all of Fox News and is making them spew forth vile lies. Well, that's interesting, because I thought the Democrats controlled all the rest of the media, deliberately hiding things they didn't like until they had no other choice but to report on them, and spewing as much bias as they can get away with. Perhaps it's a two way street? Regardless, I don't watch Fox News, and my intake of information includes for the most part only Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, The Heritage Foundation, Hillsdale College, and various Google searches on the internet. I care more about True Principles then relative "Truths." |

I take it that means that it passed? and/or that Obama didn't even bother to veto it?
Hmmmmm. This will impact some of us here quite a bit.

In an attempt to keep this trainwreck of a thread on track, House has voted to keep the conference committee private.

Why haven't they said anything yet? They won't give a shit. They're humans with capabilities for corruption, too. It could be countered by some lower court judge who rules it as unconstitutional, but then there will be a court battle that lasts for years, and the government will implement it anyway while waiting because "it's too crucial", etc. etc. I really hope to be proven wrong. |
