Lemme clear something up: Avatar is VISUAL AMAZING. The story is pretty drab. It's worth seeing in 3D or IMax, but not in standard movie. You may as well wait for the DVD or pirate it.

For those looking for a comparison of the movie's plot or saw the movie already:
Spoiler: show
The story is a grown-up version of FernGully. I mean, seriously, down to the anti-deforestation theme and the nature is alive shit! "I'm being assimilated into the culture of the tree-hugging humanoids!" "Oh no, my job is [marine]/[woodcutter], should I follow my orders or my heart?" SRSLY!?!

Avatar was the best movie I've seen in a long long time. I'd even say it was the best of the decade.

I saw Alvin and The CHimpunk as well. It was cute. Nothing too amazing. Just cute.

I'm about to see Sherlock Holes which I'm expecting to be great!

I'm gonna do a double feature tomorrow; Up in the Air and then something else. Suggestions?

I was kind of excited to see Sherlock Holmes, and then ABL read the summary for me. "Revealing deadly fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect"...

Sigh.

This is why I just go and watch the movie if it seemed interesting from the commercials.

And not read the summary.

I saw Up In The Air.

Quite a good movie but kind of depressing.

OKAY

OKAY AM I SERIOUSLY THE FIRST ONE TO POST ABOUT PRINCESS AND THE FROG IN THIS THREAD

I HAVE TO ASSUME THIS IS BECAUSE YOU WERE ALL STUNNED INTO SILENCE HERE GUYS

THIS MOVIE IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE SEEN IN YEARS

Oh my God. It's charming and witty and gorgeous and so, so sweet. The story is wonderful, the (nice!) characters are lovable, the acting is superb, the music is brilliant, the art is to DIE for. The animation was literally breathtaking to me in several places.

I have just gotten home and I am going out to see it again in an hour and a half, taking another five people with me (not including Muyo, who of course came with me to the first screening).

I will admit, I got misty-eyed a few times throughout the movie - at least, up until the point where I started weeping outright (and probably embarrassing my long-suffering boyfriend a good deal - sorry hon).

It was. So, so good. I am walking on air and dancing on sunshine.

I know y'all aren't quite the trembling Disney junkie that I am, so I will forgive you if you don't share my total and utter elation, but anyone who hasn't already gone has to go and see this film!

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

<3

Disney's Princess and the Frog is much more of an impressive work of animation than Avatar, IMO. Seeing it in this new year should be at the top of everyone's to-do list.

Yes, Randy Newman did write the songs, but he didn't sing them so they were good too.

Sherlock Holmes was a lot better than I expected.
I hate how it ends though...gotta have a sequal eh? Couldn't just be enough to make one really good movie and be done with it?!

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squekual was EXACTLY as I expected...terrible...and the quotes in there were terrible...dutch oven?! Really?!

I don't understand why there is a sequel in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, nobody liked the first one :x

Because every 80's remake needs to be played to death...just like the 80's...
To be honest though, I think the second one was better than the first. Can that even be called a compliment?! Can I take that back?!

Well, I dunno, I haven't seen either and don't plan to.

In other movie news, I'm sure this doesn't interest any of you, but the Indian film "3 Idiots" was fantastic.

Both Avatar and Princess and the Frog were amazing.

Just two entirely different brands of amazing.
