8,051 charging stations in 2013 USA

For comparison, estimates of the number of petroleum fuel stations in the United States range from 120,000 to 180,000 with most estimates closer to the lower end. If we assume 140,000 stations then, that puts electric charge stations at a roughly 1:18 ratio. Honestly, that's not too bad if you think about it: just think of all the gas stations you know of in the area where you live. If you can count more than twenty, chances are good there's probably an electric charge station somewhere nearby. And if there's not? Then for the math to work out right, that has to mean that somewhere else in the country, some little boy or girl lives in a town where there are multiple charge stations, maybe one for every ten gas stations, maybe one for every five! Who knows! I feel like Lafayette and West Lafayette together have got to have at least forty or fifty gas stations. :\ And we're not exactly big cities. (According to the 2010 census, the two cities together have roughly 97,000 inhabitants.) This page lists thirty-eight for Lafayette and this sister page lists eleven for West Lafayette -- seems my feeling was right! I know Purdue University has an electric charging station near the music hall, but I've no idea if elsewhere in the city we have other electric charging stations too. What about you? Do you know of any electric charging stations near where you live?
