Dynamax Boss Elgyem
★★★
Health Gauge: 54%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Misty Terrain (4 Turns Remaining)

Attack 1: Max Shockwave (110 BP)

Elgyem has reset all stat changes, cleared all of its status conditions, and nullified opposing foe's abilities for two rounds.
Attack 2: Skill Swap (0 BP)
Connor, Mawile: Mawile's ability has been swapped with Elgyem! Elgyem has gained Sheer Force! Mawile has gained Analytic!
[/indent]
Raid Challengers:
  • [/color]Connor, Mawile: 126 HP [Analytic (Skill Swapped;nulled) , Life Orb]
  • MM, Skwovet: 48 HP {Dynamaxed, 2 turns remaining}[Cheek Pouch (Nulled), Sitrus Berry(Eaten)]
  • Slash, Cuteifly: 160 HP [Honey Gather (Nulled), Leftovers]
  • Yuki, Mimikyu: 194 HP [Disguise (Broken, Nulled), Mummy Bandages]

Inferior Lifeforms showing signs of fighting back. Request sent to mother ship. Extinction protocol temporarily halted, resume observation program. Now why would they result to dynamaxing now? Were they just waiting for an opportune moment? Seems... pitiful. Warrants further explanation. Executing neutrality wave. Establishing bio-link with one such creature. Now then, let's do this properly.
Dynamax Initiative:
MM, Skwovet
  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • When issuing an attack, please state the attack's unbuffed Base Power (BP).
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $150+ may be collected for responses of 150 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Friday, December 31st to place your order.

The situation was perilous, no denying that. There floated before these Trainers an enormous extraterrestrial who had been thoroughly thrashing those opposing it, and who, most alarmingly, appeared intent on destroying what it deemed to be inferior lifeforms, using some of the most inane, backwards logic to justify it. But one Skwovet dared to choose fight over flight, and now that Skwovet stood above her peers- quite literally, as she had Dynamaxed- and now everything hinged on what Elgyem would do next. Diana and Marv hardly dared to breathe as they watched the massive alien... and then finally, Elgyem released a powerful shockwave that washed over all present. The Pokémon's Abilities were gone- for Pecha, this wasn't a huge deal, since she'd already made use of Cheek Pouch, and the Mimikyu's Disguise was already broken, so there was that as an upside as well. The Cutiefly... well, Diana didn't know its Ability off the top of her head, but if by some chance it had Honey Gather, well, then this wasn't gonna hurt for it, either. The Mawile was easily the most impacted by this, its Sheer Force being the, well, driving force behind much of the damage inflicted in this raid battle.

Elgyem's next move, however, rendered that a moot point- it established a link with Mawile, and switched their Abilities around with Skill Swap- now it was Elgyem who possessed Sheer Force, and Mawile who had Analytic. This... didn't quite help or hurt them. Sure, it meant Mawile was without Sheer Force moving forward, and Elgyem, well, was with Sheer Force moving forward, which was a... distinctly unwelcome notion. But on the other hand, Diana reminded herself, Analytic affects everything, while Sheer Force had a lot more stipulations. Attacks with no side effects didn't get the boost, so that super devastating Expanding Force from before? It wouldn't be powered up by this. It also didn't affect Max Moves, which was the primary reason for Mawile not Dynamaxing, since that'd have actually been an active detriment to its damage output. But that was another thing- Sheer Force didn't power up Max Moves. Elgyem wasn't going to get a power boost on those anymore!

"SKWOV... SKWOV..." Pecha panted in a booming echoing tone. She was still standing as strong as she could under the circumstances, and she was willing to fight... but Dynamaxing could only do so much for her piddly pittance of hit points.

Diana and Marv exchanged looks at this point. Neither of them said anything, but they were both thinking along the same lines nevertheless; Pecha needed to be healed up. Yes, this meant foregoing a chance at a Max Move, but honestly, if Diana didn't do this, it was possible, if not probable, that Pecha would be deprived of the opportunity for the maximum amount of Max Moves regardless. So, with that being basically an inevitability any which way one was to slice it, this seemed... preferable.

"Pecha! Here!" Diana called up to her sizable Skwovet as she approached Pecha and began to spray her with a Full Restore. It almost seemed ridiculous, the notion that that puny spray bottle would have any impact, but the sprayed medicine was intercepted by particles of Dynamax Energy, and just as they had magnified the Skwovet's size, so too did they magnify the healing effects of the Full Restore.

OOC: Using this Full Restore on Pecha.

Elgyem watches as two of the trainer spray their Pokemon with strange medicines. A way to fully heal them up? One of the trainers seemed reluctant to do so, but it was the tactical decision. Lifeforms showing signs warrenting further research. TIme to bunker down, and test their mental fortitude.

Diana was not the only person going for a healing item this round- the Mawile's Trainer saw fit to do the same, albeit with a strange reluctance. Diana didn't get this- healing up was clearly the wise decision at this juncture, and Elgyem drove this point home quite nicely with a potent Max Steelspike. The Mawile resisted the hit, true enough, but the damage was still enough to drive the point home that they were not out of the woods just yet. Furthermore, Elgyem followed up with a Psychic attack, landing a forceful blow on the Mimikyu, yet not enough of one to knock it out- a crucial point to remember there, considering the Psychic Terrain that Elgyem had previously set up would surely have powered that Psychic up into a knockout blow were the weirdness still wafting around the battlefield. The news reporter's heart filling up with hope anew, Diana looked back up at her gargantuan Skwovet. "Pecha, ready for action?" she called up to the Cheeky Pokémon.

"SKWOOOOOOOVET!" boomed Pecha, sounding far more energetic (and far more loud, for that matter!), and more to the point, ready to go.

Thankfully, Pecha hadn't gotten attacked this time around, but even more thankfully, it seemed as though Elgyem's Skill Swap had in fact been a boon to them in general. Granted, it still wasn't an awesome Ability to have on their opponent, a point driven home quite nicely by how it powered up that Psychic attack, but it was a hell of a lot better than Analytic! Since this Elgyem never attacked first, Analytic had been powering up everything it was throwing their way, whereas Sheer Force only did this for moves with side effects, and Max Moves were exempt from this.

Now, however, they had another shield to contend with. It had been slightly chipped away at by the Cutiefly's Struggle Bug, but with that done, Diana and Marv exchanged looks and nods, before Diana turned back to the camera.

"Following a stressful situation, it appears that some quick thinking on my Skwovet's part may well have helped to avert what could have been a disaster," Diana stated. "Although things were beginning to look bleak earlier, I assure you that now we stand in a good position in this battle, and I am about to issue the command that will further reinforce said good position. Reporting for Channel 110, I'm Diana Macks." Marv, saying nothing as he held the camera, nevertheless gave a thumbs up with his free hand, which got Diana to smile ever so slightly as she turned back to face Elgyem. Another look back got her a confident nod from her Skwovet, one which Diana returned in kind. Turning her gaze onto Elgyem once again, Diana gestured forward, and while her previous use of a Full Restore meant that this would be Pecha's final Max Move of this battle, both Trainer and Skwovet alike were determined to make this one count. "USE! MAX!! AIRSTREEEEEEEAM!!!" Diana bellowed.

OOC: Pecha used Max Airstream (110 BP; base move is Pluck (60 BP)).

It was always a tense moment when it came Elgyem's turn to attack, considering how precariously they had all been teetering on the brink of disaster not that long ago, but Elgyem's attacks continued to be less overtly destructive, its methods not so murderous. True, the Max Flutterby it issued was no picnic, but the Cutiefly it hit took it well enough, what with the Fairy type's natural resistance to Bug. And then came... Disable, stopping Mawile from using Crunch for the time being. Which, honestly, while still not exactly ideal, it beat the hell out of a lot of horrible alternatives, so they'd friggin' take that!

Dynamax Energy flooded out of Pecha at around this time as the Skwovet shrank back down to size, the Cheeky Pokémon scampering forward to resume her previous position, looking back to normal, but no less ready to continue this fight. They had their chance to Dynamax, and by Arceus, they hadn't wasted it, they'd used it wisely! Elgyem was starting to look worn down, its shields long since shattered, and now was the time to capitalize on the weakness that said shield shattering had left the Cerebral Pokémon with.

Diana's mind raced furiously. She couldn't believe she had been having Pecha rely solely on Bite earlier when the Skwovet had way better options than that! Skitter Smack was what she was considering at the moment. Dizzy Punch had briefly crossed her mind, before remembering that the Misty Terrain that she herself helped to facilitate would ensure Elgyem couldn't get confused. But then she remembered the Max Steelspike from earlier- of course! She mentally admonished herself for not realizing sooner- Elgyem's Defense must surely be just back to where it would normally be, thanks to the Defense-boosting properties of the Steel-type Max Move. Its Special Defense, on the other hand, that wouldn't be looking too hot right now. A grin formed on the reporter's face as she realized exactly what command to issue her Skwovet here- Pecha had already eaten her Sitrus Berry earlier, and while it hadn't been quite as big a boon as they had been hoping it to be, it was certainly gonna prove its worth here and now, the Skwovet having already fulfilled the prerequisite to using one of her strongest attacks!

"Skwov! Skwovet skwov!" Pecha exclaimed, sounding ready to go, ready to finish this fight once and for all, to ensure that they well and truly put a stop to whatever Elgyem had been on the verge of doing.

Diana nodded. "Let's show it what we can do, then!" she agreed. "All right, Pecha, give it the Belch attack!" she ordered.

Pecha took a deep breath, swallowing as much air as possible. "SssssKWOOOOOV!" she then bellowed, belting out a deep, rumbling, echoing belch, accompanied by visible purple shockwaves erupting from the Skwovet's mouth and washing over Elgyem, all thanks to the previously consumed Sitrus Berry. A powerful Poison-type move, masterfully executed- Keith Masters would be proud. Pecha gave a contented sigh upon completion of the move, grinning as she began to relive the flavor of the Sitrus Berry.

OOC: Pecha used Belch (120 BP; user has consumed a Berry earlier in the battle).

*As a result of reaching 10 Bond, Pecha learned Gummi Bomb (Grass)!*

*As a result of reaching 10 Bond, Pecha learned the MT move Recycle!*

Diana gritted her teeth- to her utter astonishment, even after this latest onslaught, Elgyem was still standing! Uh... floating. Still conscious, is my point. The enormous extraterrestrial had taken their attacks far better than anyone involved could have guessed, and was ready to fight back. Diana realized in that moment- she had forgotten the effects of Max Flutterby. Of course- reduced Special Attack! That would... well, at least partially explain why they didn't outright knock out the Elgyem. Also, they had to remember, Mawile didn't currently have Sheer Force to work with- Elgyem did.

And Elgyem attacked! This time, it went with a distinctly electrical theme, blasting the Cutiefly with a sizzling Max Lightning, the effects of which lingered obnoxiously on the battlefield in the form of Electric Terrain. The last wisps of Misty Terrain fizzled out altogether as it made way for this shocking new development.

"Skwov..." Pecha murmured warily, though the terrain wasn't exactly hurting her. But she knew this- rather, the Skwovet was more concerned with what the Electric Terrain could help Elgyem accomplish. And sure enough, there came a Charge Beam, but it thankfully didn't target the Skwovet. However, the Mawile that took the attack instead, while hanging in there, clearly wasn't doing so by very much. At a glance, Diana guessed the Deceiver Pokémon had to be on its literal last hit point. But that was all from Elgyem this time- none of them had been knocked out, they had their opportunity to strike!

Marv continued rolling, holding the camera steady, even in the midst of all this tension. Elgyem, he was reasonably certain, had been on the brink of unleashing terrible destruction not too long ago. He was sure it had been his girlfriend and her Skwovet who had stopped this. It sounded like a stretch on the surface, but Marv Liss had seen many a raid battle through his camera by now. Enough to know that this one went on for a noticeable length of time before anyone actually Dynamaxed. Elgyem, clearly being no dummy, had picked up on this. Ergo, Marv reasoned, it must have deemed them unaware of the potential of Dynamax Energy. A notion only reinforced by the fact that things seemed to calm down upon Diana Macks making use of Dynamax, supersizing her Skwovet and showing Elgyem what's what. He said nothing, and simply kept filming, but with a faint smile on his face- they got this, and he knew it.

Diana and Pecha exchanged determined looks, then equally determined nods, before both Pokémon and Trainer turned their attention back to Elgyem. Special Attack decrease or no Special Attack decrease, this was still their best option, and Diana knew it. She gestured forward at once. "Pecha, use Belch one more time!" she commanded. And once again, Pecha took a deep breath, swallowing large quantities of air, before letting fly a forceful belch, just as she had done before. Would it be enough to finish the job? Maybe not. But it'd get them all the closer, and right now, Diana would take that.

OOC: Pecha used Belch (120 BP; user has consumed a Berry earlier in the battle).

  • You have until Monnday, January 10th to place your order.

At once, both Diana and Marv had a bad feeling about that Sappy Seed the Cutiefly was using. A reliable enough technique in and of itself- a solid physical Grass-type move that also afflicted the target with Leech Seed- but the news reporting couple's concern was more what that move would drive Elgyem to do. By and large, these Dynamaxed wild Pokémon tended to keep things relatively simple. Too many stat boosts among its opponents... too many stat drops on itself... too many debilitating status conditions... any combination of the above... it all added up to one thing, and both Diana and Marv feared in that moment that that Sappy Seed might just be the straw that broke the Numel's back.

And sure enough, Elgyem's first move was not a move at all; rather, it let fly the dreaded shockwave. Everyone's Attack, Defense, and the like were all set back to normal. Nobody among them could make use of their Ability this time around (though the Mawile had knocked itself out through the Life Orb it held, so it wouldn't be subject to this effect when it was sent back out). And most alarmingly, Elgyem had Analytic once again.

That wasn't good.

Elgyem drove this point home by pelting the Mimikyu with a souped-up Charge Beam, knocking it clean out. And that's when it dawned on the Trainers- now they were right back in trouble. If Elgyem knocked out just one more Pokémon, that was it for this battle. And considering the decidedly ominous tone the raid battle had taken on previously, Diana couldn't help but wonder if it was just the battle that would end...

...but she took a deep breath, steadying herself, steeling her resolve. No, the news reporter who had so fearlessly provided the world with coverage of the Primal Dialga incident would not be so easily frightened by this Elgyem, whether simply reporting on the incident or actively in the thick of the action, and right now, the latter was most definitely the case.

"Skwov..." murmured Pecha. She had blasted that Elgyem with Belch after Belch, and they had been great, but right now, she wasn't so sure a third one would be the charm. They had to ensure Elgyem couldn't knock any of them out again before they could knock it out.

But thankfully, that goal seemed more attainable than ever- Elgyem was weakening. Gradually, yes, but weakening for certain all the same- they had done well, weakening it so. But now they had to play it smart if they wanted a shot at finishing it off at all, especially now that it had its Analytic back.

And none of this was lost on Diana. The reporter gestured towards Elgyem. "Skitter Smack, go!" she ordered her Skwovet. Pecha took off at once- she had been thinking the same thing herself. Weakening Elgyem's Special Attack seemed like the way to go, and Skitter Smack would do just that! The battle was really building up Pecha's appetite, but she could wait. Wait until the feast would be one to celebrate their victory- it'd taste all the sweeter.

OOC: Pecha used Skitter Smack (70 BP; lowers target's Sp. Atk by one stage).
