So am I the only person NOT to nickname their Pokémon? It was just never my thing but I see basically everyone else does. If so, where do your nicknames come from? I see some like MM’s are largely Harry Potter themed and 134’s are Hawaiian (I think). What about the rest of you.

Rorik's Pokemon nicknames are single-syllable names based on his made-up native tongue of Heimlan.
Hemlock's Pokemon are mostly japanese puns or actual names because he's from an eastern region of the world which is essentially feudal Japan. Hush's Pokemon are all named after angels of different mythologies because he's a sarcastic prick.

A lot of my nicknames are shortened versions of the Pokemon's species (Typhu, Espy, Amph, etc), or some kind of feature they possess (Thorn, Trunks). I'm not very creative :P
But then a lot of my nicknames are references to ancient Greek and Roman history and mythology, since I find them interesting haha. There's also a couple anime references in there for good measure too

I don't really have a theme with my Pokémon nicknaming, but they are always fitting for the species and/or personality. Language-wise it is a mixed bag of good 'ol English, but also French due to Kalosian heritage and Japanese due to

Keith: As was previously mentioned, Keith nicknames his Pokémon based on a variety of things. Harry Potter references, astrological signs, and types of poison are some of the more popular sources. Sometimes I hit Wikipedia if I want inspiration as far as poison-related nicknames. Manchin, my Chespin, is named for the manchineel, an extremely dangerous and poisonous tree.
Gavin: He hasn't gotten to nickname much yet, but he generally names his Pokémon based on things relating to his home region of Orre. Miror, my Maractus, is named for Miror B., of course, and Agate the Shiny Dustox is named after Agate Village. He let Dudley the Shiny Slowbro keep his nickname that Keith gave him, and... he didn't nickname Aipom yet. He's not particularly fond of that Aipom at this point. Terri: Like with Gavin, Terri hasn't yet named a lot of stuff. Her first three Pokémon came with nicknames that she's perfectly fine with keeping as they are, though when she does nickname her own Pokémon, she tends to use words from the Unown Report- see Observe the Medicham, Anger the Ninjask, and Vanish the Shedinja. |

Mine are all (except for a few) in reference to music and it's my own personal hell. I'll use band names, song names, or the names of members of bands for names.
The only exceptions are Vinny, Ahri, Puck, and Morgana. |

The nicknames for my Pokemon entirely depend on which character is their trainer.
Robin & Roxie: No real pattern. Sometimes I use a shortened version of their species name (Like Pom, my Ambipom.) Other times it'll be words from different languages (Like Kage, my Nuzleaf or Yume, my Munna.) In some cases it'll just be whatever pops into my head. One rule I do have though is that any Pokemon that have had a name before coming into my care, keep it. (In Hazel's case he kept the name he received from an earlier trainer, rather then the one before me.) Anna: All of her Pokemon are named after Fire Emblem characters. (She and her brother, Lukas also follow the pattern.) |

I'm free from schooling for the time being! ...And almost free from removing briars from the back fence. Welp, better than nothing.
Anyway, yeah, I'm back now, and hopefully done with that period of academic probation. Time to see if anything major's changed, eh? Edit: *Checks calendar* ...Aaand, I just barely missed the window for Woobat Day. Good thing my swoobat are both pretty calm, right? |

Welcome back, Med! Haven't really been much of any major changes. Serebii's forums underwent some kind of overhaul, so any old links to the Sppf FB stuff no longer works. I also made a third Trainer character. Oh, and I caught a Chespin!

...Huh. That messes up, like, most of my earlier links, I think. Certainly screws with the birthday ones, anyway.
Congratz on the chespin! I know it's one you've been looking to get ahold of at one point for a while, so it's a solid milestone ( I think). Kinda got mixed feelings on the sprite you used for it in your sig, admittedly, but hey- it's not my sig. It'd be pretty rude to kick and scream about that~! |

Yeah, probably not the best Chespin sprite out there, but I did make it myself, and always intended to use it whenever I got a Chespin in FB, so yeah, wouldn't have felt right to me to change the plans like that. Odds are he'll have a better sprite when he evolves- I never made a Quilladin or Chesnaught sprite, so I'll be hitting Google Images for those. Fun fact- the sprites I used for Cotton, as both Swirlix and Slurpuff, I made those as well.
You're right, though- Chespin's been a longtime goal of mine in FB, since pretty much when it was first revealed. |

Bad news: I never claimed the Lunar Festival reward
Good news: It was just a Rice Cake (1 level) Fair enough. In other news, I finally updated my profile with my last adopt and my 'TM' usage during said Festival, so I've got some progress bein' made. Maybe I'll even be back on track this time tomorrow~! |

So between using a Heart Scale and cashing in a boat load of candies, I was able to evolve my Rhyhorn into Rhydon!
*cue confetti and fireworks and much rejoicing* So now I need a favor. Who wants to do their favorite golden, three-headed space dragon a solid and do a trade-and-trade-back so I can slap on the Protector I bought and evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior?
