The periodic table bothers me
So the first four elements of the periodic table are Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, and Beryllium.
Hydro- - water Helio- - sun (fire) Lith- - stone (earth) Beryllium - ??????? (pale, used to be "sweet.") Whoever did these naming conventions missed out on a cool nod to the ancient, classical ideas of the elements, which already correlate to states of matter. earth - solid water - liquid air - gas fire - plasma Obviously it's too late to change it NOW, but it really irritates me that only 3 elements are represented, and one imperfectly.

So you are 100% missing the point of the periodic table if you think this is supposed to be a nod to classical elements.

I watched this movie for the first time last year and it was underwhelming.

Depends on the mythology tbh. The four Greek combinations of Heat/Moisture (Fire/Water/Earth/Air) are most commonly referred to as the four "classical" elements (including on Wikipedia), but they also had Aether. However, iirc Aether was proposed at a later date to the other four.
On the flip side the far east has five elements in classic thinking, somewhere has 3 (earth, sea, sky), and iirc India has a pretty decent number of them. But, as for the original post, pretty sure it's a coincidence considering the table is ordered by weight tbh. |

Aether was introduced later because people realized that if you kept the original form everything in the universe would crash into the earth. Hence the heavenly element of Aether.

In my freshman and junior years in high school, we were asked to memorize the periodic table. Not all of it, but mostly their charges and their atomic numbers.
Four years later I have completely forgotten everything. |
