Cool, fishy. I presume this means Riley-esque encounters like in DPPt?

Spring Safari, 8 A.M.

On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:

In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.

"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."

A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.

"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.

"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.

"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.

This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.

Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.

This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?

The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.

This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.

Then, area 4, the Flower Field.

As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...

Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.

The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.

You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."

An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.

"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways." She winked to the audience. "But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."

Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"

After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.

"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.

Now, on the other side you can see Area 3, the Grass Jungle. The group going that way includes the following Trainers:

We will be back for you by the end of the day, listen to the speakers for the appropriate time. When you've unboarded, the rest of us will move to the next station. Thank you."

The Trainers moved slowly but surely for the right doors and waved at the remaining passengers as the train started moving forward again. Ten minutes passed before the train stopped again.

"Okay everybody, we've arrived at Area 2 and Area 4! The group heading for the Rocky Beach" she waved at the door "includes:

[Green Zubat

Now, for the Flower Field we'd like to direct the following Trainers:

[OkikuMew]! Huh?"

Noriko looked at her paper. "Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."

Again the Trainers unboarded and waved as the train left the station. For the third and final time the train stopped.

"So here we are, last stop. All of you shall head to the Woody Swamp. Let me double-check you're all here...

Okay, all here. I wish you good luck!"

The remaining Trainers unboarded, waved and watched the train start up and move until it was out of their sight. After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.

"Good morning ladies and gents! This is your friendly neighborhood announcer Mike, working my butt off while Noriko's having all the fun.

We're gonna start off with a little weather report: The Abandoned Mansion is having some lovely sunlight this morning, while the Rocky Beach is still waking up with some light morning fog. The folks over at the Grass Jungle are also enjoying some sunlight. The Flower Field, on the other hand, is having light drizzle along with the sunlight - there's a nation that believes mice are having a wedding when it rains and the sun shines at the same time, did you folks know that? But this time it might be because there's a good old rainy weather at the Woody Swamp! Watch out or you'll sink right in.

That's all for now folks, Mike out!"

The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.

The updaters will post updates separately (with clear markings that they are updates), so there will not be one big post for updates. The updates might also not happen on the exact same day, so keep an eye out for this thread. Newscasts through the speakers will get their own, marked post as well...if and when things happen. I'll also keep links to each update post in the first post of this thread, so everyone should find them easily.

Now, reply away and let's get this event going! And remember, have fun! :3

The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
OOC: By all means, let me know if I did something wrong here so I can correct it ASAP.
As a number of trainers, all of whom bore the same invitation, congregated at the abandoned Safari Zone, they could suddenly hear the thundering of rapid footsteps. Those who would turn to look in the direction from which the footsteps came would see their source- a large and magnificent Scolipede, its entire body various shades of Shiny Charizard-grey. Riding on the back of the Scolipede was a 22-year-old man, clad in a red and white sleeveless jacket over a black t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, a pair of white sneakers, and perhaps his most distinctive feature, a large brown cowboy hat. Riding on his left shoulder was a Meowth. And the trainer looked psyched.

As the Scolipede drew closer to the crowd, it slowed down, coming to a stop well before anyone would have been in danger of being trampled. The man who rode the Scolipede jumped off its back- the Scolipede's trainer, Keith Masters. Wordlessly, he gave a single nod to the Scolipede before returning it to its Poke Ball, just as Noriko started to speak to everyone, detailing the rules for the Spring Safari. Once her explanation was over, Keith boarded the train along with the rest of the gathered trainers, and to his mild surprise, he was among the group to get off at the first stop- the Abandoned Mansion.

"Alright, Meowth, this is our stop," Keith stated as he clutched the bag he had been given. Inside the bag was the Rope, the Digital Camera, and of course, the Poke Ball. Also, he had selected a red Umbrella before boarding the train, he had that with him as well.

"Hey, so, whaddya tink we's is gonna find?" Meowth asked.

Keith shrugged. "I got no idea," he said. "All I know is, we're gonna have a good time here, Meowth. Now let's go see what we can see."

With that, Keith and Meowth set off to the Abandoned Mansion, ready to find whatever it was that awaited them.

The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
Michael approached the train with his Pichus Kevin and Jenny running about by his feet, the mice playing a game he had dubbed ‘Electric Tag’, although sometimes it happened to be called ‘OW! YOU SHOCKED MY FOOT!’ The trainer read over his invitation one more time, making sure it was time, though the small stampede of fellow trainers should have been his first clue. Stopping to listen to the announcements, Kevin and Jenny quit their playing, climbing up Michael’s jacket and onto his shoulder, pulling up his hood so that the plastic Houndoom horns would be easy for them to jump onto and ride.

Boarding the train, Michael grabbed a bag and a black umbrella, twirling the latter around a bit to amuse his passengers. He could only smirk as the train pulled to its first destination and his name was called. “Abandoned Mansion, eh? Sounds like our kind of place.” He asked, poking Jenny’s cheek, who replied with a questioning “Pi?”

Michael stepped off the train and approached the Abandoned Mansion. “So, let’s go find us a new friend, eh?” The statement eliciting joyful sparks from Kevin and Jenny, always eager to have new teammates to play with.

"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.

"Urh... My head... Dikune, if you could kindly..."

Michael woke up, holding his aching head. The mischievous Drowzee was no longer attached to it, but, judging by his Panpour's laughter, the tapir had left a nose shaped mark. The two pokemon shared a high-five as Michael got out of bed. Sighing, the trainer gazed at the time. It was 7:50 AM.

"Huh, i'm late. Oh well, I need to pick up some food and drinks and the washing needs doing tod- OH GOD I'M LATE!"

Michael jumped out of his hotel bed and frantically got dressed, leaving a Panpour and Drowzee confused at his sudden urgentness. Dikune turned to Blue.

"Why is Michael going crazier than usual?"

"Because we signed up for this safari zone event, and it starts today in 10 minutes." Panpour replied.

"Aah. Well, shall we help him? He seems to have his trousers on his head."
Indeed, the teen had his trousers hanging from his neck. Blue sighed and picked up the teens Pokeballs and a letter that had been left strewn on the desk. He handed one to the Drowzee.

"Nah, just hold your ball. In this state he'd probably lose them."

The pokemons' conversation was cut short by the trainer dashing out of the room, leaving the duo behind. After taking a second to facepalm, the two Pokemon dashed after their crazy trainer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Phew, we made it guys!" Michael shouted, hardly panting after his mad dash. He made his way over to the crowd of people at the entrance to the Safari Zone. His two Pokemon didn't share the teens enthusiasm, however. They doubled over, panting.
"Jeez, I am never doing that again..." Blue wheezed. Dikune tried to nod in agreement, but he couldn't even stand up straight. Oblivious to his pokemons' discomfort, Michael eagerly listened to the young woman who had stepped in front of the crowd. The guide talked them through the map, the train and the playful castform, and offered them up a trolley. As the teen waited his turn to pick up items, he started bouncing in excitement.
"Ooh I can't wait! This place is so big, and they have a train and everything! Dikune, I've decided to use you through the Safari Zone. As long as we don't go to that abandoned mansion, This will be the best day ever!"
The boy shuddered, remembering his time trapped in a Graveyard with Blue. As his name was called, he ran forward, almost tripping, and picked up a bag containing a Pokeball, Digital Camera and a Rope, along with a Light Blue Umbrella. He then ran onto the train, his pokemon trailing behind him. On the train, as Michael enthusiastically played with the camera, Dikune pointed out something to Blue.
"You know Michael's Jinxed his location, right?"
Blue Scoffed.
Don't be ridiculous! There are no such things as-"
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion. Michael..."
All the enthusiasm from Michael drained away at these words. Blue, attempting to break the awkwardness, pulled out his pokeball as Dikune shot him an 'I told you so' look.
"I'll just see myself to my ball." The Panpour recalled himself as Michael and Dikune took tentative steps towards the mansion.
"Ok Dikune, I promise that I won't abandon you like I did Blue that one time." Michael joked, honestly hoping that wouldn't happen. Again.
Spring Safari, 8 A.M.
On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:
In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?
The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.
This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.
Then, area 4, the Flower Field.
As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...
Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.
The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.
You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."
An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways." She winked to the audience. "But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"
After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
“Well, we’re here.” The trainer looked around at the safari but it seemed deserted. Not many trainers were around. “But where is everyone? Am I late?”
A Ralts walked up next to him. “Ru.” He didn’t know either.
Pulling out his invitation along with instructions, Lucas gave it another look; reading it from top to bottom. His eyes stopped and fixated at the time that was written down on the green coloured card. He did have the wrong time, but he wasn’t late, he was early. A whole hour early in fact.
“****, @#$%&*! Are you kidding me! I stood up early for nothing? I could have gotten an hour more rest! Do you have any idea how I early I had to get up to get here on time! And now I have to wait! Lucas was raising his arms into the sky as if blaming whatever supernatural deity may be resposnible for it, even it was his own fault.
“Slaaaakoootthh.” Looking down at his feet, a Slakoth could be seen hanging on his left leg. It was agreeing with him, an extra hour of sleep would have been nice.
“Don’t give me that!” The trainer was focusing his anger on his own Pokémon now. “All you ever do is sleep!” The lazy Slakoth, which Lucas mistakenly nicknamed Kong, a name for something that was strong and active, did very little and the past few days were spent on trying to get the sloth Pokémon to move for even a short moment. A failed attempt which had already angered Lucas before he had arrived at the safari.
“Ruru.” The emotion sensing Ralts was trying to calm his infuriated trainer down with his soft spoken words.” The emotions he could sense felt hotred and uncomfortable to it.
Lucas merely grunted. “We might as well look around while we’re here. Plan ahead if needed.” Not that he would though.
Lucas and Rags started heading towards the fence to take a small peak behind it. Kong was being dragged by Lucas’ leg, almost anchoring his trainer.
“Get. OFF!” With those two words, the trainer gave one big pull to loosen Kong's grip but it didn’t help. Lucas continued by shaking his leg in the air. He stopped when the Slakoth’s grip didn’t loosen and stared at it, his leg still half in the air.
“Zzzz.”
“Are you kidding me! How can you still be sleeping!” The Slakoth was sound asleep the whole time his trainer was dragging him. He was practically ignoring him like he wasn’t even there.
“You’re sleeping and you still don’t let go?” The young man continued by shaking his leg angrily but gave up soon afterwards. For a lazy Pokémon it sure did have a good grip, even when sleeping. Perhaps the name Kong wasn’t such a bad choice after all.
Once at the fence, Lucas and Rags marvelled at the sight in front of them. There were different areas suited to almost any Pokémon’s habitat.
“Look.” Lucas said. “There’s a jungle area just like the one where Kong’s species would live. I’m sure he could sleep peacefully on those branches.” He glanced a menacing stare at Kong, expecting a reaction from it.
“Slaaaaaa?” the Slakoth said sleepy.
“So that means we’re not going there!” Lucas snapped at his Slakoth again. It was clear that the Pokémon was being a drag on his shoulders and his trainer had just about had it with him.
“We’re not going to a place where you can sleep out of our reach. We';; lose you forever that way."
"Even if that is what you're planning on," he muttered under his breath.
"No, we're going to find a place where sleeping will be as uncomfortable as possible. Maybe then you will finally get up and move."
The Slakoth opened one eye and looked at his trainer. He scratched his head then closed them again, completely ignoring Lucas as if whatever he had to say was unimportant by nature. Lucas was more like a fly on the wall to Kong.
The insult from his Slakoth was evident. It wasn’t exactly because he was disobedient but because he was lazy and had little care in what others thought of him, including his trainer.
“Why you little..” Lucas raised his leg as if he were ready to stomp, all the while gritting his teeth in anger.
“Ru!” Rags quickly tried to hold his trainer off from stomping down but was struggling a bit. It was enough to hold his trainer off for a few seconds.
“Slaaa?” The Slakoth opened one eye again to see what was going on. He saw his frustrated trainer and yawned at him as if he was boring and unimportant once more, despite the obvious physical threat.
“Oh I’m so going to-“ Lucas sentence stopped halfway. The Yawn attack had hit him and was now sending him into a deep sleep. With a loud thud, Lucas dropped to the floor, sleeping right next to Kong who was equally snoozing.
”What? Why did you do that?” Rags asked Kong.
”Because..” The words came out of the Slakoth’s mouth like a long breath. It was even tiresome to listen to. ”Now..I..can..sleep” And with that, Kong fell right back into a deep sleep.
5 turns later
”Oh no. Oh no. Oh, no no no no.” Rags was slightly panicking right now. The presenter was already explaining the safari and it’s rules and his trainer was missing all of it! If he didn’t wake up soon, they’d miss the whole event. Desperate, Rags jumped on his trainer’s stomach and slapped him silly across his face. It worked. In one quick movement, Lucas shot up and clamped his face in pain.
“Ow!"
"What!?” It took Lucas a few seconds before he realized what was going on and Rags didn't have to bother answering him. Lucas got up and hurried to the other trainers who had just finished listening to the announcement and started getting in line. Having missed what was said, Lucas and Rags decided to simply join the line and see what would happen. The Slakoth was following right behind them, clinging to Lucas’ leg once again and weighing him down as he tried to run to end of the line.
Once on the train, Lucas still didn’t understand what was exactly happening. He assumed the train was giving them a short tour around the safari and he zoned out has he stared through the window at the passing trees. He completely missed how trainers were announced to board off the train. Once near the Rocky beach, one of the areas provided by the safari, his name got called which caught his attention. He looked up in surprise at what was happening and noticed how other trainers were being called out too. Trying not too embarrass himself, Lucas followed the others out of the train without a word, hoping to get an explanation later.
With a goodbye from the female announcer the train set off, stranding him with a bunch of other trainers. Wait? What? Lucas was now slightly confused at what was going on. Don’t we get too choose where we go? Rags that stood by his side merely sighed. Having followed the announcement in his trainer’s stead he already knew that they were dropped off at random spots by raffle. He said nothing to his disorderly trainer though.
Looking around, Lucas noticed how the other trainers were holding similar items except for the umbrella that had different colours. He hadn’t even noticed until now that there were different coloured umbrellas and so glanced at his own.
“What! PINK!?” Lucas’ umbrella was pink, an almost laughable colour to have by chance. A colour wouldn't have mattered that much, but his frustration was building up again.
“Slaaaa.” Kong replied to his trainer; a possible insult.
“Shut up!” Lucas shouted at his Pokémon. His Pokémon’s laziness and thus his disobedience was angering him again, bringing back their old argument of before now added with the disappointment of the pink umbrella.
Trying to ignore Kong as much as he could (with the help of Rags restraining him a bit from pounding Kong) he returned his Pokémon to their respective Pokéballs and recollected his thoughts on where they were.
We’re finally in the safari. The place where we compete with others to catch Pokémon. There might be some good or rare Pokémon here.
It took a few seconds before he put those two sentences together. To have an advantage, he'd have to quickly get ahead of the others.
He sped off in the direction of the fog. thinking "You snooze, you lose!" he shouted towards the other trainers as he ran into the thickest parts of the fog. He could almost hear Kong replying to his trainer's words.
“Slaaaaaaaaaaa.”
Shut up.
"Hurry it up, Elm! I think they might be about to start," shouted GZ, straining to make himself heard above the turbulent winds, high in the sky. About a mile below them, and several hundred metres ahead, the demanding trainer could see a small congregation of people, roughly the same age, gathered before what appeared to be an empty stage and a large gate; nothing particularly exciting.
"You'd arrive much sooner if I dropped you," answered the beleaguered Hoothoot, his wings fluttering madly, two sets of claws firmly grasping the teal-haired youth by the shoulders.
"What was that?" asked GZ.
"I said 'of course, Master'," Elm replied, in a high, insincere tone, before beginning their slow descent. As the bitter bird Pokémon soldiered on, he asked himself again how he'd allowed this situation to happen. He remembered protesting heavily when GZ had suggested that Elm carry him to the event personally.
----------------------
"Please, sir, have mercy," Elm recalled himself saying at the time, "I’m more than half your weight; I couldn’t carry you five feet, never mind cross-country.”
"Well that's not what Dexter told me," GZ insisted with a raised eyebrow, holding his Pokédex up to Elm; his current moveset was listed on the small screen with "Fly" quite clearly highlighted.
“But I’m not even a year old yet; I’m still a chick! This is child labour!”
“Hey, just be grateful you’re not a Doduo--they don’t even have wings, and I’ve seen plenty of trainers fly them. Now quit yo’ bitchin’ and saddle up; we’ve got a long journey ahead of us, and I don’t wanna be late”
----------------------
"Oh, look! That must be it." spoke GZ out of the blue. From their aerial vantage point, a glimpse of the Abandoned Safari could just now be seen peeking out from behind the gates, and from what they could see, it looked gorgeous. Vast stretches of open field dominated by wild flowers, rivers, and nice, tall grass lay before them, the sun shining brightly overhead. Both parties remained silent for a few moments, as they took in the beautiful vista that had come into view before them, until it disappeared behind the perimeter fence. Minutes later, the pair landed, irritating a couple of nearby participants with the small gust they'd whipped up in doing so.
"Arceus, my aching talons," Elm whined, as he detached from GZ's shoulder, and fluttered tiredly into his trainer's arms, "I may need physio."
"Oh, stop being a drama queen," GZ chided, as he moved to mingle with the others, killing time 'til the event began.
----------------------
"Ugh! I knew I should have taught you Defog."
With a heavy sigh, the GZ stepped off the train that had escorted them through the Safari Zone, and onto the dusty terrain of the Rocky Beach.
"Actually, if memory serves, you snorted obnoxiously in the face of the Training Centre receptionist when she mentioned that option the other week," replied Elm, balancing on a small boulder nearby with one foot.
"That's beside the point."
As the train pulled off, GZ retrieved his Pokédex, pulling up his team’s movesets to see if there was anything that might help them out a bit. Whilst the morning mists weren’t too heavy, it would be nice to be able to see properly more than 20 feet ahead. It would certainly make finding Pokémon easier, at least.
“Well, we might have fobbed off Defog, but you do know Foresight, so I guess that’ll do,” said GZ with a hint of irritation, as he placed the electronic encyclopaedia back in his pocket. Prior to arrival, GZ had been imagining exploring all kinds of natural wonders, and indeed his sneak peek prior to entry had seemed to confirm this. Being dumped on the side of a sandy scree, with nothing but a white umbrella, Poké Ball, camera & some rope was kind of an anticlimax.
He was about to set off into the fog when another participant caught his eye. Like him, this man also had blue hair, though his was a much darker, indigo colour. Also, unlike GZ, he had electric blue eyes to match, making for a notably striking appearance. However, it wasn't just the his appearance that piqued GZ's interest. Looking at the man, GZ was for some reason filled with an odd sense of deja vu. Without thinking, he began to walk towards him.
“Where are you going?” Elm asked, fluttering after his trainer. GZ ignored him, instead continuing to stride towards the blue-eyed guy confidently.
“Need a guide?” He asked, gesturing towards his Hoothoot with a smile.
On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:
In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?
The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.
This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.
Then, area 4, the Flower Field.
As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...
Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.
The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.
You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."
An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways." She winked to the audience. "But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"
After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.
The Trainers moved slowly but surely for the right doors and waved at the remaining passengers as the train started moving forward again. Ten minutes passed before the train stopped again.
"Okay everybody, we've arrived at Area 2 and Area 4! The group heading for the Rocky Beach" she waved at the door "includes:
Noriko looked at her paper. "Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."
Again the Trainers unboarded and waved as the train left the station. For the third and final time the train stopped.
"So here we are, last stop. All of you shall head to the Woody Swamp. Let me double-check you're all here...
Okay, all here. I wish you good luck!"
The remaining Trainers unboarded, waved and watched the train start up and move until it was out of their sight. After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.
"Good morning ladies and gents! This is your friendly neighborhood announcer Mike, working my butt off while Noriko's having all the fun.
We're gonna start off with a little weather report: The Abandoned Mansion is having some lovely sunlight this morning, while the Rocky Beach is still waking up with some light morning fog. The folks over at the Grass Jungle are also enjoying some sunlight. The Flower Field, on the other hand, is having light drizzle along with the sunlight - there's a nation that believes mice are having a wedding when it rains and the sun shines at the same time, did you folks know that? But this time it might be because there's a good old rainy weather at the Woody Swamp! Watch out or you'll sink right in.
That's all for now folks, Mike out!"
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
Here we go! Hopefully I got this right ^^;
A small crowd, filled with trainers of all kinds, have gathered near a small stage in front of a big screen on which a lonely microphone stood, and a small but sturdy-looking red steam train. Okiku approached the clutter of people quietly, along with her loyal Poochyena, Max, walking right beside her. However, despite her shyness with people in general, the young woman's silence didn't stay that way for too long: her enthusiasm of the special spring event she was lucky to be invited for overwrote her timidity, to the point that if someone who met her before but didn't know her too well wouldn't believe seeing her squealing in excitement, looking more like a child in a candy store than a 22-year old trainer.
"Isn't it exciting Max?" she squealed with her hands rolled up and her knuckles tapping together. "I always wanted to try a safari! Now's my chance!"
Max barked loudly in response, wagging his tail quickly, happy to see his owner so joyful and completely being her own, rarely seen self.
As soon as she joined the gathering, a nervous green-clothed woman about the same age as Okiku got onstage, lightly tapped the microphone then started speaking. She introduced herself as Noriko, the group's guide for the event, then explained briefly the procedures, the different zones, their transportation (although Okiku thought it was obvious) and finally presented a cart filled with bags of items they could use, that included a Pokéball, a rope, a camera and an umbrella which the trainers could choose its color.
"Ooo, goodies!" Okiku yelped in glee as she ran towards the cart, only to slow down as she reminded herself by Noriko to not push around and stay in a line. "I wanna pink umbrella!"
Sure enough, as it was her turn to pick up her bag, she found within the sacks multiple umbrellas of different shades of pink. She gladly picked up one with a light pink parasol. Liking to take pictures (probably taking the habit from her mother), she then grabbed the camera and quickly took a couple of pictures; one of the black, long-haired girl with the stage and screen, and another of the steam transport along with its conductor. Soon afterwards, she skipped towards the train and hopped on it, Max following close by and curled into her lap comfortably.
On the first stop of the safari, where the mansion and the small jungle was, Okiku's name wasn't called out, but to her surprise she heard Keith's and Hyrem's whom she didn't notice they were invited too. As they got off the train and waived at those who satyed int the train goodbye, she tried her best to energetically wave back at them, hoping they would spot her. On the second stop, the Psychic-typed trainer was finally called to unboard the train to the Flower Field... by herself, to her astonishment!
"Really?" she blinked. "Is there a mistake or something?"
Although she probably didn't hear her, the safari guide answered her question nevertheless:
"Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."
"...Wow, that's weird," Okiku blinked again. "Alright, no lollygaggin', let's move, Max!"
The pooch took the hint and jumped off of her lap and the train first, letting her get up and jump off the train right afterwards. Her shoulders and head was then greeted by a some tiny raindrops, but it wasn't enough for Okiku to be bothered by it and to feel obliged to pull out her umbrella yet. As the train departed, she cheaply waved the train and its leftover occupants goodbye, feeling like her face was morphing into the same one as the Forever Alone character, minus the crying.
Her small moment of loneliness quickly disappeared though as she turned around and stared at the beautiful field of flowers, gracefully divided in two by a meandering river, and the plants being more varied in colors than the umbrellas available earlier. After staying awestruck by the lovely view for a few moments then taking a few pictures of it, Okiku looked down at her companion, who was shaking off the accumulated droplets on his fluffy fur.
"Alright buddy, Let's check the place out! With such a nice place, I'm sure there's at least one pokémon living here... it would be a real luxury, don't you think?"
Max playfully growled in agreement, then led the way towards the middle of the Flower Field.
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
"What a pleasant surprise this is," Rowan is reading his mail with a big smile on his face, "We have been selected to join in on the Spring Safari. What do you say Rose, let's go?" Rowan looks at the Ralts sitting on the table in front of him. She nods with an equally big smile. "Then it's settled, let's get ready to go." And with that Rowan gets out of his chair and goes to his bedroom to get dressed. Not much later the gentleman returns wearing his outdoor Safari suit consisting out of brown pants with belt, a grey shirt with a light brown, wool gilet that has a line print designed in it and a bow tie in matching colors . Over his gilet Rowan wears a dark brown, leather coat. To complete his outfit he wears long dark brown, leather hunting boots that almost reach his knees and a checkered hunting cap colored in different shades of grey and brown that match the colors in his outfit.
"Let me see, who shall I take with me now," Rowan stokes his hands over his short beard, "Of course Rose is coming, and I think I will take you with me too. And that should be enough." He looks at a big pile of iron-like rocks in the corner. "Behemoth, return!" the young man says as he takes a Pokéball from the inside of his coat and aims it at the rocks. A red laser comes out of the ball and the retrieves the Pokémon that is the iron-like rocks. "And now off we go!"
Arriving at the site of the Spring Safari Rowan sees a that a couple of trainers arrived before him already, and he then observes his friend Keith making his grand entrance on the back of his Scolipede. Soon after that a young woman gets on stage and starts to explain the procedures of the Safari and how everyone is assigned to a zone within great plains of the Safari. Rowan listens carefully, not wanting to miss any of the details, unlike another sleeping trainer a few seats away. At the end of the explanations Rowan grabs his equipment provided to him by the organization of the Safari: a Pokéball, a rope, a digital camera and, cautious about the overall look of his outfit, an umbrella sporting a camouflage print in different shades of brown and green. He then makes his way over to the red steam train that will take him and the other trainers to their assigned zones.
While waiting for the train to arrive Rowan thinks of the possible Pokémon he could meet and at what zone he would have the best chance of meeting them. Looking at Rose, who he kept in his arms the entire time, he says, "What do you think, the Rocky Beach would be the best place for me right? Rocks are my specialty after all."
Rose looks at her trainer with a smile, sending a shade of green into his mind. "You think I should go to somewhere more green?" Rowan asks, to which Rose happily nods, happy her trainer understands her message. "Guess we'll see what zone we're assigned too," Rowan replies. At that moment the train stops too, having arrived at the first two zones. To the left of the train Rowan sees the Abandoned Mantion and on the right he sees the Grass Jungle. Listening to the announcement he does not hear his name for the first zone, but Rowan does hear Keith's name. "A perfect zone for him I imagine," Rowan says to Rose as he hears his own name being announced to get off the train for the Grass Jungle, "And guess you will have it your way Rose, as I don't think we will get a zone much greener than the Grass Jungle." The gentleman then gets up and makes his way to exit the train along with several other trainers.
Once outside a weather report comes in, sunlight for the Grass Jungle. "Lovely weather to have on a Safari don't you think Rose?" Rowan looks up into the sky, the sun's rays touch his face as he feels the warmth around him. He then turns to face the other trainers that were assigned to this zone and takes of his hunting cap, gracefully turning it into a bow, "My fellow gentlemen, I will take my leave now. Enjoy yourselves and that you all may succeed in the capture of a Pokémon. Au revoir." Rowan then walks in south-west direction, entering the Grass Jungle with his Ralts in his arms.
On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"
After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.
The Trainers moved slowly but surely for the right doors and waved at the remaining passengers as the train started moving forward again.
After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.
"Good morning ladies and gents! This is your friendly neighborhood announcer Mike, working my butt off while Noriko's having all the fun.
We're gonna start off with a little weather report: The Abandoned Mansion is having some lovely sunlight this morning, while the Rocky Beach is still waking up with some light morning fog. The folks over at the Grass Jungle are also enjoying some sunlight. The Flower Field, on the other hand, is having light drizzle along with the sunlight - there's a nation that believes mice are having a wedding when it rains and the sun shines at the same time, did you folks know that? But this time it might be because there's a good old rainy weather at the Woody Swamp! Watch out or you'll sink right in.
That's all for now folks, Mike out!"
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
The updaters will post updates separately (with clear markings that they are updates), so there will not be one big post for updates. The updates might also not happen on the exact same day, so keep an eye out for this thread. Newscasts through the speakers will get their own, marked post as well...if and when things happen. I'll also keep links to each update post in the first post of this thread, so everyone should find them easily.
Now, reply away and let's get this event going! And remember, have fun! :3
{Quote is spoiler tag'd because tottemo ookii desu nee! I'm also looking forward to seeing how you update me, Tyoyo!}
The Spring Safari. Like other regions, Fizzy Bubbles had a Safari Zone in which people could catch a wide assortment of Pokemon. (Technically, it used to be near Volcanic Mountain, but recent events undisclosed to the public have caused the area to close down indefinitely, including the Safari Zone there.) Thanks to the letter Hyrem got, he was able to infer that it just recently opened. Well, he wasn't going to miss out on a Safari, was he?
As he arrived he could see the other trainers there, including Keith (riding on his gray Scolipede, no less), Cele, Okiku, Alex, and Blaze. He chatted with his friends before a woman approached the mic to make an announcement. "Hey, it's Noriko!" he remarked, recognizing the woman in her green dress.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon. I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A large screen with a map then appeared slowly before Noriko continued: "As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." On her signal, numbers and boundaries appeared on the map, and she then explained that each trainer was to be assigned to a different area, then listed the five areas. When she finished, she directed everyone towards a small, red train with an old man as its conductor. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed," she said as an assistant wheeled two carts up to the stage. "You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items. We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways~ But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Soon after, everyone lined up to get satchels and umbrellas, Hyrem choosing a lime-colored umbrella for himself. Now to choose who would accompany him for the safari... "I know!" he said before reaching for a Pokeball and a Premier Ball. "How about ... you two?" As he threw the Pokeballs, a lithe Purrloin and a tough-looking Shinx appeared. Immediately, the Purrloin, named Selina, was sidling up next to the Shinx, but Luke turned away from her, and she would have had a mouthful to yowl at him if she didn't see Keith's Meowth at that point and waved at him instead. As Hyrem boarded the train, it wasn't long after he sat down before Selina was nestled on his lap and was the recipient of face rubbing, while the lion cub sat next to him, keeping a vigilant watch on the other trainers, including one trainer with a Houndoom sweatshirt and two Pichu accompanying him. Selina took this moment to paw at his ear in order to get his attention.
"What?" Luke asked with some irritation.
"Aw, don't be like that!" replied Selina, still trying to flirt with him, but could see she was still being ignored. "Hmph, fine then!" she finally said before raising her head up and away from Luke, though it probably wasn't going to be long before she tried again.
Finally, the train stopped, and Noriko stood up for the first announcement. "Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion: Missingno. Master, Sneezey12, seakittenyfool, Shadowshocker, and swampertforever!
Now, on the other side you can see Area 3, the Grass Jungle. The group going that way includes the following Trainers: Gemini Spark, CyberBlastoise, Celebii151, and Escalion!
We will be back for you by the end of the day, listen to the speakers for the appropriate time. When you've unboarded, the rest of us will move to the next station. Thank you."
After Hyrem waved goodbye to Keith, who left for the Abandoned Mansion, he turned to Cele as they both headed towards the Grass Jungle. "Wow, pretty cool that we're in the same area, isn't it? Though I hear there's supposed to be a Beldum around here. Too bad we didn't get to go to the Rocky Beach, that's probably where it's going to show up. Oh well, there should be some other cool Pokemon here too!"
Meanwhile, Luke and Selina were following Hyrem, with Selina trying to make another pass at Luke. "Okay, listen," Luke finally said. "For starters, I'm not interested in you. Stop being a pest about that, it's not going to work. Second, if we get into a battle, either I handle things myself, or you're on your own. I work alone. In fact, I'd rather you just go back to your Pokeball right now."
"Wha- You can't tell me what I can and can't do!" Selina said with a huff. "I'm sticking around whether you like it or not, buster, so I suggest you get used to it! And if you don't want to battle as a team, then fine, you handle things! I'd much rather you do the dirty work anyway." In fact, I could just sit by and ... sigh, watch you work all day, she though to herself.
"Suit yourself," Luke said ultimately. "Just make sure you stay out of my way."
"Fine!" meowed Selina. "I'll just be with our human, I'm sure I'll be more appreciated by him!" And with that, she huffed off towards Hyrem but changed her expression to be sweet as she rubbed against his leg. "Purrrr?" she asked innocently and turned on the Charm, allowing her to be scooped up into her trainer's arms very quickly. Luke just walked in front of Hyrem and entered hunt mode, opening up his sharp senses so that he would be ready to stalk, then pounce, at the slightest sight of movement in the brush. "All right then, let's go find ourselves a Pokemon!" said Hyrem before motioning for Luke to enter, having heard the PA announcement that there was clear skies in the area, and so was ready and excited for their adventure.
Spring Safari, 8 A.M.
On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:
In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?
The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.
This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.
Then, area 4, the Flower Field.
As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...
Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.
The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.
You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."
An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Noriko looked at her paper. "Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."
Again the Trainers unboarded and waved as the train left the station. For the third and final time the train stopped.
"So here we are, last stop. All of you shall head to the Woody Swamp. Let me double-check you're all here...
Okay, all here. I wish you good luck!"
The remaining Trainers unboarded, waved and watched the train start up and move until it was out of their sight. After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
El fiddled about with her umbrella with a great big smile. Sky blue it was, she liked blue. Sparow, the tiny bird contently sitting on her shoulder, didn't mean to mind the colour much either. Squishy did though, which explained why the thing was currently a speckled orange. At least the ditto wasn't doing anything worse than being creative with it's shape-shifting, the young trainer figured.
When the train ground to a halt, she nearly jumped out the window in her eagerness to get started. She was more then a little embarrassed when she realised she'd jumped the gun. Poor Sparow had been flung forward by the girl's enthusiasm and was understandably less than pleased. She spent the rest of the next leg pouting and glaring at her over excitable trainer.
Thankfully for the train's windows, the next stop really was El's and she had enough sanity left to take the door this time. She was one of the five people going to the Rocky Beach, to her simultaneous joy and mild confusion. On one hand, it was a beach! On the other hand, where was the water? Oh well, a beach was a beach, so she leapt out of her chair, grabbed Sparow and twirled around her umbrella (currently a nice shade of ultraviolet-B with infrared stripes).
She was awestruck by what she saw, if only for a moment. Stretching out in front of her was a vast plateau of rock, obscured by fog. In the distance she was able to make up the vague shape of a rise through the vapour. Beyond that, details were hard to parse as everything seemed to be in silhouette. She was just barely able to make out a faint glimmering in the distance, probably the fountain that had been mentioned.
El took ten seconds to take all this in, then started running forward at full pelt, giggling and laughing all the while.
Teasing the sleeves of his jacket Shadow glanced outside the Safari train window while the carriages bubbled with excitement. It had been some time since he was around other Trainers in an organised event of such magnitude, and to some extent he still found it more comfortable sticking to himself. Was it trepidation from a previous event that had nearly threatened the lives of many, or was it merely apprehension for anything that didn't go according to his pacing? The scientist wasn't sure, but on the other hand, this event was quite unlike anything he'd ever come across in his travels. Alongside his usual gear he grasped the bag that the attendants had handed him, and quietly, he mused that the organisers had certainly put a lot of effort and thought in bringing everything together. The dark blue umbrella he'd taken was of considerable quality, as were the rope and digital camera. Wrapped around his Trainer's arm, Doldrum observed the surroundings, but while he kept his taped mouth silent Shadow could tell from the subtle tugging that the balloon was quite ecstatic. It was a fair response - after all, it was likely that the team might be encountering a new addition to the swath of cadets in the Sector.
It didn't take long for the train to arrive at its first destination, and as it turned out Shadow and Doldrum were amongst the first few passengers assigned to disembark. A dilapidated building loomed ahead of them, though Doldrum merely bobbed in curiosity - perhaps after his traumatic experiences of being a Murkrow kidnap victim, he'd grown a little stronger in his own way. A few other Trainers, armed with Pichu, Drowzee and Meowth, had likewise alighted and began making their way to the structure whilst the sun shone brightly above them as was previously forecast.
Now all the scientist and balloon had to do was wait for their contact to show up...
On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:
In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?
The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.
This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.
Then, area 4, the Flower Field.
As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...
Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.
The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.
You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."
An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways." She winked to the audience. "But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"
After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.
We will be back for you by the end of the day, listen to the speakers for the appropriate time. When you've unboarded, the rest of us will move to the next station. Thank you."
The Trainers moved slowly but surely for the right doors and waved at the remaining passengers as the train started moving forward again. Ten minutes passed before the train stopped again.
"Okay everybody, we've arrived at Area 2 and Area 4! The group heading for the Rocky Beach" she waved at the door "includes:
Now, for the Flower Field we'd like to direct the following Trainers:
Noriko looked at her paper. "Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."
Again the Trainers unboarded and waved as the train left the station. For the third and final time the train stopped.
"So here we are, last stop. All of you shall head to the Woody Swamp. Let me double-check you're all here...
Okay, all here. I wish you good luck!"
The remaining Trainers unboarded, waved and watched the train start up and move until it was out of their sight. After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.
"Good morning ladies and gents! This is your friendly neighborhood announcer Mike, working my butt off while Noriko's having all the fun.
We're gonna start off with a little weather report: The Abandoned Mansion is having some lovely sunlight this morning, while the Rocky Beach is still waking up with some light morning fog. The folks over at the Grass Jungle are also enjoying some sunlight. The Flower Field, on the other hand, is having light drizzle along with the sunlight - there's a nation that believes mice are having a wedding when it rains and the sun shines at the same time, did you folks know that? But this time it might be because there's a good old rainy weather at the Woody Swamp! Watch out or you'll sink right in.
That's all for now folks, Mike out!"
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
Big walked into the reception area of the Safari event, stretching his legs for the first time in what felt like months. I'm glad I got caught up on everything, it's nice to be out and about again. He listened carefully as all the rules were explained and watched as people started to head towards the train. After grabbing the Pokeball, camera, and rope putting them in his black backpack, and holding the new bright orange umbrella he stepped on the train just as it was about to leave.
The other passengers slowly got off until there were only a few left including Big. They all got off at the last stop: the Woody Swamp. He heard the announcement that it would be rainy so he popped open his new umbrella and let out the newest member of the team: Geddy the Tynamo. Geddy floats so I won't have to worry about him sinking in the mud. "Let's go Geddy!" He said with a smile and the eel just nodded as they headed off.
Sableye
"They just had to…pant...have the Safari…pant...open at 8am."
On the outskirts of the once abandoned plot of land, a young man was currently running to his next adventure.
With him was one of his most loyal friends and companions, a grinning Sableye. Who incidentally was holding on for dear life, tearing the poor man’s already torn up army jacket and interjecting his claws into the man’s skin.
Ignoring the pain, the man sprinted towards a voice of a young maiden overheard through loud speaker, who was giving the 411 on what was set to happen in today’s event.
"Shit! We're late!"
He had just made it in time to grab a bag provided by the staff and a pick of whatever colored umbrella he wanted, indigo; when he heard a train begin to whistle out. Quickly he rushed to the train and jumped on as it began to move.
Ethan stood catching his breath while he held on to the railing, where he took one good look at the map of the safari before the wildlife blocked his view.
At the second stop his name was called out to join the group assigned to this location (Rocky Beach).
He stepped off and soon found his vision was being distorted by a thick layer of fog. He was thinking of a way to combat this situation when another young man approached him, like him his hair was of a blue color, but much lighter in tone.
Pointing to his fat feathered friend he asked if they needed a guide, which Ethan responded, "Well it wouldn’t hurt," he laughed, shaking the other man’s hand, "The names Ethan and this is my companion...," he said addressing his Pokemon that grinned an evil grin, "Adam."
"We were thinking of heading over for the Fountain at the top of the hill," He said, "If we work I'm sure we would get there much quicker," he added, "Provided your bird clears the way, I have a feeling some interesting mons might be there, I have no problem leading either."
The massiveness of this quoted post requires the use of a spoiler tag.
Blaze walked towards the abadoned Safari Zone one Spring morning. It was still chilly outside, and Blaze had a black hoodie on to stave off the cold, though he had a short-sleeve underneath in case the weather suddenly decided to get warmer as it had a tendency to in the Spring time. He noticed that there was other trainers around him, but ignored them for the moment as he though about why he was here and what brought him to this place, a place that supposedly was abandoned for some time now.
It was a late Feburary morning when Blaze got the piece of mail, hand-delivered by a Skitty. He thanked the little Pokemon and went back inside, a Wurmple sitting on the table. This Wurmple was his newest companion, and was quite the colorful personality. "So, Blaze, I see you have received a piece of correspondencia. Is it from some amante?" "No, Francesco, it is not from a lover? You know that I am destined to be forever alone at my rate." "Ahh, you are a self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to amor and dicha. Always so self-condoning." "You be quiet now." Blaze opened the letter and was surprised to see that it was an invitation. "It's an invitation...apparently it is to go to some Spring Safari zone that opened up. Directions are on the back...wait, I think this place was abandoned the last time I heard about it. I hope it is still safe." "I would have more to worry about getting an invitation from a desconocido." "There is that too...but I think I will be safe."
Blaze came back to and was looking at the podium that was set up. A young-woman got up onto the stage, and poked the microphone a couple of times to make sure that the sound was working correctly. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders, making Blaze blush slightly, and pulled on her dress. 'She seems a little nervous. I can relate, speaking in front of crowds, or just to people in general isn't my specialty.' "So, Blaze, how about ending your solitario streak and getting with that fine seńorita?" Blaze immediately hushed Francesco, and sincerely hoped that no one heard that. That would be embarrassing.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon. I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
Noriko moved away from the microphone for a moment as a large screen moved up from behind her. A map appeared on the screen, and Blaze noticed that there was at least five different distinct sections of it, though there could have four depending on how things went.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it, and Blaze saw that his intuition was right. There was five distinct zones. He wondered what exactly there were, but waited on Noriko to comment on them.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas." 'A raffle, that is an interesting way to sort things out. I wonder if there is anyone going to the same place as I am.' He looked in the crowd, and noticed that there was far more than five people here, and assumed that no one was going to go it alone.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds."
"That sounds like just the place to find a Ghost Pokemon of sorts. They tend to like abandoned mansions." "What is it with you people and mansiones embrujadas? Just because it is abandonado doesn't mean there is Ghost Pokemon there. Maybe we will meet a darling little Butterfree."
Spoiler: show
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case."
Blaze continued listening on, now having no more comments on the matter. He was concerned about the Woody Swamp, not having a lot of experiences with swamps and the problem of he didn't have a good aerial Pokemon. Alomomola did float a little bit, and Rotom was a Levitater, but neither would be able to help him out much if he got stuck.
He then learned that they were going to be transported to each zone by a train, and that they had one day to find a Pokemon and catch it. Blaze hoped that he would be able to find something, because as it could sometimes end up, Pokemon could remain reclusive, especially in an abandoned Safari Zone where Pokemon probably were a little fearful of humans. Francesco looked Blaze with eyes full of adventure. Blaze grabbed one of the bags handed to him, handy with a Pokeball, rope, and digital camera. Francesco took the digital camera with his STRING SHOT attack, and began to work it with his little legs, zooming in on Noriko and quickly snapping a picture before Blaze grabbed the camera from him, cutting the string with a little pocket knife. "What can I say, amigo? Taking some pictures to remember this isn't so bad, no?" "It all depends on what you take the picture of!" Blaze yelled slightly, causing some of the people to look at him weirdly. It was difficult being with such a trouble maker like Francesco, especially when there was even a moderately attractive girl nearby. Not to mention that Blaze's shyness with the opposite sex was starkly contrasted by Francesco's near infatuation with it.
The next thing to take was an umbrella, and Blaze reached out for a black one, since it was a relatively safe color, before Francesco spit out another STRING SHOT and grabbed a dark purple one. "No, use this sombrilla instead. I think it suits you better." Blaze was a little embarrassed at taking such a feminine color, but he secretly liked this color a lot lately, and took it without saying a word.
Blaze got on the train, keeping his hand on Francesco's mouth to keep any potentially offensive comments hidden away from Noriko's ear as he passed by her. When he got to his seat, he took his hand off and got a dirty look from Francesco, but he just shook his head and sighed and took to looking around at the people. The train chugged on till it was in front of the abandoned mansion, and Blaze waited to see if he was going to be dropped off here. It was after all the place he took the most liking to.
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.
[Missingno. Master
Sneezey12
seakittenyfool
Shadowshocker
swampertforever]!
"
The trainers were called by there official trainer names, and blaze recognized Keith among them, and knew that he was going to fun over at the Abandoned Mansion.
"Now, on the other side you can see Area 3, the Grass Jungle. The group going that way includes the following Trainers:
[Gemini Spark
CyberBlastoise
Celebii151
Escalion]!
"
Blaze also recognized Celebi from the Phantom Isle, and adventure that he had a serious amnesia case about and could only remember the beginning of. The other two areas went and came, and Blaze grew pallid as he realized he was going to have to go the swamp after all. As the train chugged along, a friendly nudge from Francesco reminded him that he needed to cheer up, that no matter what happened, Blaze was going to be okay and not drown in the swamp. The train arrived in the final zone, and the remaining passengers, none of whom Blaze recognized, got off. Blaze got off last, and was looking to this with timid trepidation. As he walked by Noriko, Francesco used his STRING SHOT and stuck himself under the ceiling, removing himself from Blaze's shoulder. "So, say, Noriko, maybe you could keep Blaze company, yes? He might need a nice girl like yourself to pull him out of the mud in case he falls in and can't get out. But, of course, if you were to be accidentalmente pulled in yourself..." Blaze realized that Francesco wasn't on his shoulder and grabbed him, again cutting the string and blushing like made. "I am so sorry about that Noriko see Francesco doesn't understand that I am not ready for a relationship not that i don't want one or anything but I don't need his help and he can be kinda rude and I hope you understand so BYE!!!!" Blaze ran off the train, and only hoped that this experience wouldn't color Noriko's opinion of him(and only hoped it would color her opinion of Francesco).
Blaze opened up his umbrella and walked out into the swamp, noticing that the swamp was raining pretty hard right now. "Oh God dammnit!" Blaze yelled, clearly angered by not just the rain. "Oh come on Blaze, a little lluvia never hurt anyone. A lot of it...sure, but not a little." "You know exactly what I am mad about! Why did you have to go and do that?" "Because you are a pollo. Scared of women. I am only here to help." "Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it!" "Oh you'll see it! Once I can dance, the ladies will SWARM you!" "Haha very funny. Anyways, we should be careful from now on. The swamp is only going to get worse in the rain. We should try to stay out of any place where it looks deep." "And how will we know what those places are Blaze? A pantano looks like a pantano no matter how closely you look at it." "I guess you are right. Well, come on, we should get going." Blaze walked off into the Woody Swamp, timid about stepping on placed that didn't seem like solid ground.
Updates (Group Kaisap112) #1
It's been a week since the Event started, so I'm posting first updates.
Sneezey: Kevin and Jenny seem to be enjoying the sunny skies, warm air and grass to the fullest, continuing their Electric Tag as you all proceed toward the Mansion. As Kevin launches at Jenny again, the two suddenly start rolling ahead down the slight downhill you’ve reached – it’s like a Pichu-snowball! Not wanting to lose sight of your friends, you run after the spinning ball of “PIIIIIII-!”, hoping nothing or no one gets in the way of the now slightly sparkling ball. Kevin and Jenny roll away toward a building that you assume to be the Mansion, but luckily you see some rather tall weeds slow the electric duo down a little.
Your relief is short-lived though, as suddenly the screaming yellow-black ball is launched into the air. Only vaguely taking note of something dashing out of the tall weeds and behind the building, you direct your attention back to your little buddies…who land smack on the roof of the Mansion. Did they hit something in among the weed? Apparently not too hurt, a couple of loud “Pi!”-noises call for you on the rooftop. The next issue is clear, though: how are the two Pichu’s supposed to get down from there?! The building is too high for them to simply jump down…
What will you do?
Escalion: The Grass Jungle has gotten green with spring, all sorts of noise from bugs and other creatures loud all around you. Rose seems to be interesting in your surroundings, her head moving from left to right constantly with every new subject in sight: trees, bushes, couple of tropical flowers, grass…an apple! Rose starts reaching her tiny little hands toward the apple, eager to reach her snack. Happy to oblige, you set the small Pokémon on the grass, chuckling slightly as the Ralts scuttles her way toward the red, round apple. She stops in her tracks a few inches away from the apple though, looking to her right as there is a small rustling noise coming from the tall bushes…right before a high-speed shadow lunges out of the bush and snatches the apple away before disappearing into the bushes on Rose’s left side. The small Ralts stares at the space her apple used to be in for a few seconds before turning to the bush the offensive creature had disappeared to. Your mind is suddenly full of the color red; Rose doesn’t seem about to let this offense slide, instead looking at you like a child throwing a temper tantrum – stomping of one tiny foot and everything!
What will you do?
Lass El: Sparow and Squishy try to hang on for their dear lives as you run around the Beach, seemingly not minding the moisture from the fog. Your Pokémon don’t have to hang on for long though, as you trip on a decent-sized rock that you can’t see from your cheery antics. Sparow manages to land safely on the sand, looking at you with a disapproving glare, while Squishy pulls itself back together from the pancake the impact slammed it into. Squishy shows its opinion of you by transforming into an exact copy of Sparow: now you’re getting double the disapproval. With a little laugh you slowly get back up, deciding to take it down a notch in case of more rocks you could accidentally run into. Approving of your decision, the now two Spearow land on your shoulders, letting you carefully walk forward. After a few minutes, Sparow starts making noise and floats down on the sand: there seems to be a small trail in the sand…or rather, like someone had scooped a small road into the sand, headed toward the dry beach. Squishy seems excited, floating into the trail as a Spearow before returning to its original form and sliding along the trail, like pink goo would slide down a waterway.
What will you do?
CyberBlastoise: See here. I'd kindly like to ask you to reply ASAP, so I can get your adventure going as well.
Rowan and Rose are enjoying their walk through the Grass Jungle. The sun still shining and fresh green and beautiful flowers everywhere around them. Every few steps there is something else to enjoy and since no Pokémon can be seen anywhere around them Rowan takes his time to enjoy nature, even taking some pictures of some rare tropical flowers with the digital camera that the Safari hosts provided. Listening to what is going on around him, Rowan hears the voice of nature calling. Different bugs call out their cries as do many of the other creatures of the Grass Jungle. The smile on Rowan's face is as big as it can get at this moment. The peacefulness of his surroundings make him feel at ease and relaxed, and he is not alone in this. Rose is enjoying herself too. Happily she takes in everything that is going on around her. The sounds of nature, the grass, the trees, the bushes, the flowers.
"Don't you just love it here Rose?" Rowan asks his Ralts as he looks at the Pokémon he is carrying in his arms. "The nature here is so beautiful, I am truly happy that we were picked to go to this zone. Even though my personal interest of Pokémon are more likely to be found elsewhere I would not want to miss this stunningly beautiful nature for anything in the world, well perhaps for a Shiny Larvitar," Rowan chuckles as he says that. Rose looks up to her trainer and nods happily with an equally big smile on her face. The nature here is so new to her, everything is different from what she's used to and literally doesn't know where to look as everything is interesting. Rose her head shifts from left to right as Rowan continues walking in the hope to come across a Pokémon. The beautiful flowers around her make her send the brightest yellow into Rowan's mind.
"You really do like it here." Rowan says smiling, "Good to know that, as that's exactly why I took you with me." Rose her eye is then caught by the most beautiful flower she has ever seen. It is big, almost her own size, and it has large orange petals with a pink line in the middle of them going from the tip of the petal to the centre of the flower which looks like a big, red bud. Rowan notices her looking and lowers himself so that Rose can have a better look at it.
"Truly a beautiful flower Rose, I have to agree with that." Just as Rowan says that, Rose has her eyes set upon something else already. Not too far from the flower lays an apple. Rose, feeling she'd like a snack by now, reaches out to grab it but cannot reach it due to being in Rowan's arms.
"Feeling hungry?" Rowan chuckles slightly as he sees his Ralts attempt to grab the apple, "Here, let me put you down, that will make getting that apple a lot easier for you and I will take a picture of this flower in the meantime." And with that Rowan carefully puts Rose on the ground.
Rose then scuttles her to way to the red, round apple, but she stops in her tracks a few inches away from the apple, looking to her right as there is a small rustling noise coming from the tall bushes. Right then a high-speed shadow lunges out of the bush and snatches the apple away before disappearing into the bushes on Rose’s left side. The small Ralts stares at the space her apple used to be in for a few seconds before turning to the bush the offensive creature had disappeared to.
"Wow, what happened?" surprised and quite confused as to what happened Rowan looks around to see where Rose is. Just a moment ago his mind was filled with a powerful, angry, red color. It had to come from Rose, but what could have caused her to send out that color, he has no idea.
The look on Rose her face says it all. Rowan looks at her and she looks back like a child throwing a temper tantrum, stomping of one of her tiny feet and wildly shaking her arms. With a smile and a sigh he replies to her look, "Oh, come on Rose, it's just an apple, we can find you a new one." But after he said that Rose her look changes immediately, now she puts up the biggest, saddest puppy-eyes possible and overall looks as if she's on the brink of crying. After another sigh Rowan picks Rose up again and says, "Okay, okay, you really want that apple don't you? Where did the apple go, then we'll go find it." Rose, all happy again, points to the bushes the creature disappeared in and Rowan sets off to go find the apple.
Even as El laughed off her impromptu close-up examination of a large rock, she couldn't help but rub her already mangled nose. The last thing she needed was to break it again. At least nobody seemed to be hurt too badly beyond a few ruffled feathers. Still, she was treading on thin ice, one referral to Squishy as Sparow or vice versa carried a decent risk of getting pecked. There's a reason Spearow don't bother with tackles when their counterpart Pidgey does.
It was Sparow who noticed something first, bless her keen eyes. The ruffle of feathers as the small bird glided down startled El quite a bit, the young lass reflexively flinging her hands over her face in preparation for a pecking. It never came, much to her relief, allowing her to turn her attention to what had caught Sparow's. A channel in the sand? Probably not natural, unless there had been a small river made of tiny little excavators driving through not that long ago. Before El had much of a chance to ponder the curiosity, she was caught off guard by another flutter as Squishy decided to take things into its own... things. It dissolved into the pink gloop El had gotten so used to having it around and began to trickle down the channel. Normally El would have been making furious notes on her companion's viscosity, but she was in a strange place full of strange pokémon! Not that she didn't trust the Ditto to hold its own should need be, but just letting it out of her sight would be irresponsible. Without much thought beyond that she set out after the blob, trusting Sparow to be able to keep up.
Spring Safari, 8 A.M.
On one spring morning, a rather large group of Pokémon Trainers from all over Fizzy Bubbles gathered at the abandoned Safari area. They'd all received the following letter through the mail:
In accordance to the instructions provided by the second slip of paper included, the Trainers were now waiting anxiously for the event to begin. Finally, a young woman stepped over to the microphone set on a small stage, poking it a bit to see that the sound was working alright. She then pushed her long hair behind her shoulders and pulled a bit on her green dress, clearly nervous to be in front of all these people.
"Good morning, everybody! I'm glad to see so many of you here today. My name is Noriko, and I'm a member of the Spring Safari Staff. We've organized this little event to celebrate spring and to have a good time with fellow Trainers and Pokémon." Noriko took a deep breath, trying not to follow every coach's advice to imagine her audience naked. "I will not tell you more about the plans we have in store for you today. Please direct your attention to the screen."
A rather large screen appeared, rising from the floorboards beneath the young woman. Once the movement stopped, what looked like a map appeared on the screen.
"As you can see here, we've done some work on the good old Safari, and we have a number of areas for you to roam in search of Pokémon. Speaking of areas..." The map on the screen suddenly had lines and numbers on it.
"We've used a raffle to split you all into smaller groups and to decide the areas you will be visiting today. We have all kinds of Pokémon in all kinds of areas, and this way it is easier for us to monitor your progress. You may have noticed the numbers, so I'll now explain the areas.
"Area 1. is The Abandoned Mansion.
This area contains an old abandoned mansion, which door has been walled shut from the inside. The building is old and there's a danger of collapsing if hit by direct attacks, so extra caution is required from visitors. You can also access the small gardens of flowers and wild weeds.
Next, we have area 2., the Rocky Beach.
This area is usually a cool beach, but the water has yet to return to anywhere else but the fountain located on top of a rocky hill. On top of the hill you can find an area full of rocks of all shapes and sizes, and the fountain, which shoots out a constant stream of lukewarm water. The area is mostly rough terrain, but the sandy beach areas remind of the pleasures of summers to come, don't they?
The third (3.) area is the Grass Jungle.
This area is full of plantlife: grass, tress and flowers everywhere, this place makes for some good hiding places for Pokémon. Beware though, as there are plants and berries with various side effects lying around.
Then, area 4, the Flower Field.
As the name suggests, this field is full of flowers in all shapes, sizes, colors and species. This area is fairly calm and quiet compared to the rest of the Safari. A small river flows through the field, ensuring the hydration of the flowers - and possibly acting as a place for some new Pokémon to hang around...
Last but not the least, we have area 5., the Woody Swamp.
The area of trees and a small swamp in the middle, the Woody Swamp can either be a walk in the park or an utter disaster depending on how careful you are. Better keep an eye on your Pokémon, just in case.
You will all be transported to your respective areas by our little train here." Noriko waved toward a small, red steam train. From the conductor's seat waved an old man, who seemed to have a bit of a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Ressha has agreed to help us for today. Don't worry, he's an excellent conductor, long as you act properly on his train. I'll be on the train with you to let people know who needs to get off at which station. We'll also be collecting you from those same stations at the end of the day."
An assistant then walked in from the back with a large cart full of bags, with a second assistant following him with a cart full of umbrellas in all the colors of the rainbow. Noriko nodded at the assistants gratefully.
"Now, we're not sending you off empty-handed. You'll all receive bags, which contain the following items" Noriko lifted one bag off a cart and opened it. "We're giving you a Pokéball for catching your Pokémon of the day, a long rope to help you, and a digital camera for making memories. You are free to use the rope and camera in any way you wish, but we'll be collecting them back at the end of the day. You'll of course receive copies of any and all photos you take with the camera. Also keep in mind that you can use these things in many, many ways." She winked to the audience. "But you'll have to find out what that means! On top of all this, we're giving you all your own umbrella - you can pick any color you like, we've got a load of them as you can see. This is due to the unfortunate fact that a local weather center's group of Castform are on the loose in the area, and they're the playful type. You are not allowed to catch or approach Castforms in the event that you see them, as requested by the weather center."
Noriko picked up a yellow umbrella from the cart. "We'll keep you posted about the weather and other things through the speakers scattered around the Safari. Now, if you could please form a line and each Trainer can pick up one bag and one umbrella. No pushing!"
After all the Trainers had received their equipment, Noriko directed them to form a line and step on to the train. The train then began to move on the track slowly, like the group was on a landscape tour. Spring had made the Safari very green and lively, the Trainers and Pokémon enjoying the view. A few minutes passed by before the train suddenly came to a halt. Noriko stood up.
"Alright, this is our first stop! I'd like to ask the following Trainers to get off the train on the station here" she waved to the appropriate direction, "to Area 1, The Abandoned Mansion.
Now, on the other side you can see Area 3, the Grass Jungle. The group going that way includes the following Trainers:
We will be back for you by the end of the day, listen to the speakers for the appropriate time. When you've unboarded, the rest of us will move to the next station. Thank you."
The Trainers moved slowly but surely for the right doors and waved at the remaining passengers as the train started moving forward again. Ten minutes passed before the train stopped again.
"Okay everybody, we've arrived at Area 2 and Area 4! The group heading for the Rocky Beach" she waved at the door "includes:
[Green Zubat
Now, for the Flower Field we'd like to direct the following Trainers:
[OkikuMew]! Huh?"
Noriko looked at her paper. "Looks like you'll be the only Trainer going to the Field. Yep, no mistake here."
Again the Trainers unboarded and waved as the train left the station. For the third and final time the train stopped.
"So here we are, last stop. All of you shall head to the Woody Swamp. Let me double-check you're all here...
]
Okay, all here. I wish you good luck!"
The remaining Trainers unboarded, waved and watched the train start up and move until it was out of their sight. After a moment, all the Trainers heard a voice that clearly came from the speakers.
"Good morning ladies and gents! This is your friendly neighborhood announcer Mike, working my butt off while Noriko's having all the fun.
We're gonna start off with a little weather report: The Abandoned Mansion is having some lovely sunlight this morning, while the Rocky Beach is still waking up with some light morning fog. The folks over at the Grass Jungle are also enjoying some sunlight. The Flower Field, on the other hand, is having light drizzle along with the sunlight - there's a nation that believes mice are having a wedding when it rains and the sun shines at the same time, did you folks know that? But this time it might be because there's a good old rainy weather at the Woody Swamp! Watch out or you'll sink right in.
That's all for now folks, Mike out!"
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
The updates might also not happen on the exact same day, so keep an eye out for this thread. Newscasts through the speakers will get their own, marked post as well...if and when things happen. I'll also keep links to each update post in the first post of this thread, so everyone should find them easily.
Now, reply away and let's get this event going! And remember, have fun! :3
Myrrh was quite surprised when he got his letter telling him that he'd been given the opportunity to take part in the Spring Safari. He had thought he wouldn't be considered for sure, but here he was, making his way to the safari area where everyone else was at. Quickly enough things began to get underway, a short presentation explained all the details and they were all going to be sent to their areas by train.
Noriko gave out more information as they lined up in front of the train, letting them take their bag of supplies and were then let onto the train. Myrrh took the bag that contained a camera, rope, Pokeball, and decided on a red umbrella instinctively. Myrrh could feel the excitement rise up in himself and others as they made their way to the different areas. He looked out the window the whole time, looking away only to notice that the first group had arrived at their area. Myrrh knew his area was up next, so he started to pay more attention.
Not too long after the first stop the train made it to Myrrh's destination, the Rocky Beach. He made his way to the exit slowly, trying to be the last one out from his group. Just like the report said, the area was covered in a light morning fog, but it was still not too hard to see things at a distance. Myrrh stood in place for a bit while twirling the red umbrella, deciding where exactly he wanted to go. After having dropped the umbrella for the third time he decided to move along towards the fountain top. It was still early, so he figured he would send out a Pokemon to join him once he made it to the fountain.
The Spring Safari Event was now officially open.
This was the first time Bill had even thought about the Safari Zone since he first started his adventure in this place, let alone actually participating in any events and this one seemed pretty special. Though it was an early morning sort of event and he was not really a morning person. In fact, this event started at 8 a.m., not exactly the best of time to start the day, but it certainly will mean that he could find some sort of Pokémon to keep. One thing that struck Bill odd though was the line 'feel free to bring your team' part. From his experience Safari Zones generally banned trained Pokémon from entering the area due to poachers, but these people seem to be encouraging it. Then again this isn't the Safari Zone in Fuchsia so the rules might be different here. Still, Bill expected having a nice time with some of his Pokémon, no wild and crazy adventures, no threats against his life, just a nice fun relaxing time at the park.
As he reached the entrance of the zone, he made note that there were several other trainers, of course there were also some workers here and there. However, as soon as he entered in, one of the workers started to make an announcement. She introduced herself as Noriko and started to talk about the park itself, explaining the various areas, though he was a bit surprised by the fact that the trainers were assigned areas. Not that he minded, each place seemed nice enough for a stroll, though he secretly was wishing for the beach area.
Soon, she introduced the items that will be taken into the Safari Zone. At least that was one thing they kept the same. It seemed that Bill was going to get a bag with a Pokéball, some rope, and a camera, not to mention an umbrella for when the weather takes a turn for the worse or weird. He obtained his bag, grabbed a teal and headed into the train along with everyone else until all the trainers and Noriko were on board. Soon the train left the station and headed into the Safari ready for adventure.
She started naming off which trainers were to go into which area, though Bill didn't hear who all would be going where because he was to be let off in one of the first areas, the Grass Jungle. It wasn't the beach but it was at least a place. As soon as he was let off along with some other trainers, most of whom he didn't know, he sent out three of his own Pokémon, Silver his Blastoise and longest companion, Shelly, his Kabutops whom he took with him on his last jungle adventure, and Megas, his Golett and his youngest Pokémon on his team besides Marshall, but he was in the Daycare currently.
Bill turned to his surroundings to take in the sights. He normally wasn't one for nature, but this time it seemed all nice and serene. "All right guys, let's head in......that direction" he indicated towards a random opening between some trees. Without a word, each of his Pokémon followed suit, except for Megas who ran ahead of the group as per usual. Bill quickly grabbed Megas and placed the young Ghost/Ground type on his head.
The announcements soon started up and it announced that it was at least sunny here. The trees here were going to be shady, which meant that the hot beating sun won't be bothering anyone in this crew for long.
OoC: Just found out my computer has an autocorrect option that fixes the word Pokémon, I find that awesome.
Update (Group Kaisap112) #1 Continued
CyberBlastoise: With hopes of getting some protection from the hot sun, you and your group approach the jungle and leafy trees. As soon as you get beneath a tree though, Shelly starts acting strangely: she keeps twirling in place for a while, as if looking for something, before dashing deeper into the jungle. With no idea what is going on, your group runs after Shelly. Too busy worrying about Shelly, you don’t notice a dark shadow whooshing over your head – and knocking Megas down to the ground. Megas takes a while to get back on its feet, shaking an angry fist in the direction the shadow had disappeared to. The Golett’s anger seems to melt away fast though, as its head snaps in the direction Shelly just ran off to. Before you can ask what’s wrong, Megas takes off after Shelly, leaving you and Silver behind and extremely confused.
Running after the escaping duo, you and Silver find yourselves in an area covered in tall grass; with the grass reaching as high as your shoulders, you worry about how you’ll find the small Golett in all this greenery. Scratch that, finding Shelly alone would be hard enough in a place like this! Needles and haystacks cross your mind as you try to look across the tall grass and catch sight of your friends. After a few minutes you give up and look at Silver: there is no way you can find Shelly and Megas with all this darn grass in the way!
What will you do?
OH LOOK AT ME. You all got excited, didn't you? I'll be working on my own updates after this and will probably go up tomorrow, so don't worry guys. ^.^
Trains were awesome. That James' current thoughts as he sat in the iron torpedo carrying him to the Woody Swamp, where some sort of adventure awaited him. He had considered bringing along Matthew for this, but he had decided that the Snover next to him would be better, as the two hadn't been together much.
"Sno?" The young yeti said in a questioning tone, looking at the scenery of the beautiful Safari Zone alongside his trainer. The Flower Field was the current sight, and the hundreds of flowers were stunning. James usually wasn't a flower person, but the place was enough to perk his interest. He was somewhat jealous of the lone trainer heading there. The Snover seemed to agree, sighing as he looked out at the flowers.
"I'm sure we'll find something cool, Vincent. I think we're almost there." James said, and then took inventory. He had a dark brown umbrella, while not the most attractive colour, served it's purpose as well as a possible camouflage piece in the murky waters of the swamp. He also had the cord of rope in his bag, and the camera was in his pocket. The two sat for some time before finally reaching their destination: the Woody Swamp.
James hopped off the train, giving a few coins to the conductor as a tip, and walked along to see what sort of things would await him.
Milling with the rabble, he noticed that his train would be dropping him off first, and a gift bag was supplied as he stepped onto the small locomotive. Opting for a dark blue umbrella on account of news of some prankster Castform roaming, he shrugged once more before heading out to his rendezvous.
On reaching the mansion, Alex frowned as a hazy memory floated into his mind, mirrors of some form which sent a shiver down his spine. Having received notice he'd be accompanied by another trainer, the young man, clad in garb that masked much of his presence alongside a neckerchief over his face, spotted his comrade, who seemed to be as oddly dressed as he was, with a lab coat and Drifloon on his arm. Figuring a pokemon could be useful, he pulled an orb from his belt and dropped it, releasing a small white and brown creature with stubby arms and a chilly air around him.
"Mist, relax, we've got some exploration to do with this guy here."
Updates (Group Celebii) #1
Hiya folks! Since Celebii is a bit busy during this first update round, I'll be your updater for a bit. Celebii will take over again once the educational system stops trying to murder him.
OkikuMew: With a moment worthy of flying hearts, light bloom and sappy music, you and Max frolic among the seemingly billions of flowers. Covered in petals, Max happily runs ahead toward the little river running across the flowery field. With a little yelp, your canine friend suddenly drops out of sight – as you run up to him, you realize he literally dropped and then rolled down the muddy riverside. Max is lucky enough not to fall right into the river, but the mud covering his fur seems…you automatically take a few steps back as the happy pooch immediately gets up and lunges back at you with something in his mouth. Wagging his tail, Max looks at you with puppy-dog-eyes, a rather long stick stuck between his fangs. Looks like someone wants to play fetch!
What will you do?
Ex-Admiral Insane: Eager to find a Pokémon to catch, you rush right into the ominous morning fog. Deciding to be the fastest and the very best no one ever was, your feet send tons of sand flying around. After about ten minutes you start running out of speed, stopping to catch your breath. Still not believing your luck of getting a pink umbrella, you open it above you in disbelief: the manliest, most butch trainer alive, and his…Pride-pink umbrella. You decide that owning the umbrella would be a good course of action: returning with a super-strong, rare Pokémon would leave no doubt about your abilities as a trainer, and you could brush the pink umbrella off as an unfortunate accident – or just make pink the new black and your signature color for fans to fawn over. A lazy “slaaaaa” ringing in your head suddenly, you snap out of your daydream and…see a shadow moving in the distance. Excited, you start running as fast as you can…!
And fall down a hole covered by sand. Rushing definitely was a bad idea. Looking up from the bottom of the hole, you see that high up the hole you fell in from is now covered…by your umbrella. The pink light coming through the umbrella seems to be making fun of you, but even reaching up to it while standing up doesn’t make you tall enough to reach that umbrella. You need to figure out another way to get out…
What will you do?
seakittenyfool and Shadowshocker: What a peculiar duo you make: a scientist and a…hermit of some kind(?), walking around together on a sunny day like this. Quietly confirming that the other trainer is indeed the contact you have been waiting for, the scientist’s Drifloon floats toward the building in the distance, seemingly sure of where it’s going. Seeing a trainer and his two Pichus messing about in front of the building, you quietly move to the side of the building – all that noise didn’t seem too inviting to either of you. Following the Drifloon, you find a door on the left side of the building that seems to lead underground…perhaps this is the door to the mansion’s basement? With Mist opening the door for you, you peek inside, but it’s almost pitch-black down underground. There’s also no guarantee that you won’t be attacked by wild Pokémon or crazy zealots the minute you waltz in, but the Drifloon seems certain something of importance is down there…
What will you do?
Green Zubat and Bless the Metal: Having teamed up for this little event, you decide to count on Hoothoot’s Foresight for guidance. The Hoothoot making a mock military salute before looking in the direction of the water fountain, the rest of you wait…and wait….until suddenly Hoothoot speeds away, wings flapping at remarkable speed. This would be a good sign…if you had any idea what the Hoothoot saw! The bird having Foresight hadn’t helped you much, him being the only one capable of seeing a darn thing. You two trainers look at each other with some confusion, not having expected your plan to backfire like that. Tentatively and slowly walking forward to the direction you recall Elm flying at, you proceed in the fog.
Out of the blue, you hear an odd sound approaching you. Looking up and squinting, you try to figure out what it is. It seems round, with another round thing on it, like a really dark snowman…and it’s moving at you…and it’s bigger than the both of you combined okay this seems a bit too dangerous for just standing around unless you want to be crushed!
What will you do?
Max didn't take any time to wait before to joyfully hop around and into the flowers, making his trainer glee from the adorableness of the scene and snap as many cute pictures of him while she can. In a small yap she barely able to hear, Okiku lost sight of her happy little companion, which she last spotted him near a certain point of the river. Wondering if he was ok, she ran up towards the general direction where she saw him last. Poor little Poochyena seemed to have fell in the mud on the side of the river, but he didn't fall in the river itself and seemed to be not hurt at all. In fact, he still had a smile on his face, running towards Okiku... to her disgust, as she's not too keen on getting herself dirty much, compared to her furry and muddy friend. Thankfully, he approached to simply bring a her a stick and giving her his best puppy-eyed expression he knew his human friend couldn't resist.
"Awwwwwwwww, you want to play fetch, don't you; don't you Max?" she gleefully and childishly said as she presented the palm of her hand to Max. "Then come on, donne-le moi, donne!"
Knowing how she didn't like to get dirty too much, Max carefully dropped the branch in her hand. Okiku grasped the makeshift toy, gave it a good swing, and threw it away from the river.
"Goooo FETCH! Va chercher!"
Max dashed without question towards the general direction where the stick was thrown, as he has not played fetch for quite a long time: actually, probably the last time he did was before he and Okiku went off to their Pokémon journey.
