It's one or two weeks away. Something like that.
Remember, the series is 24 episodes long and started rebroadcasting in May. The year is 52 weeks long, and the new episodes are seeded in order and sandwiched between the older ones. After looking at the schedule though...series II is probably going to suck. :/ Most of the novel material I like, i.e. the stuff with most of the character development plus awesome happenings starts at Book 4+. There's some of it in Book 3, but Books 1 - 2 are still Kyon's first year in high school - different The Twilight Zone style scenarios and cute school related activities. We've also already passed the events in Book 3 with BLR. Endless Eight I know will happen, and that's from Book 5. SMS I'm not so sure, since chronologically I think that takes place after Book 4. It should, since Book 4 is December and SMS is January iirc... Bah, I'm probably all screwed up and stuff. All I remember is Vran speculated Book 4 would occur around December, which doesn't add up in my head considering. BLR is chronologically episode 8, and it's July in-story. EE takes place toward the end of the summer, SMS in January. I don't recall what events (season 1) take place between July and December, but there couldn't have been a lot...

You won't have to...it'll be two weeks tops until the next new ep, followed by a string of new eps. At least four, maybe more.

The episode wasn't particularly entertaining. And no after credits next episode preview either :/

This episode is actually part one of two. In the novels, this is Endless Eight (it must be) which takes place right before school starts again. I remember Kyon lamenting about having to finish his school work.
It was necessary to depict some character bonding, which will come in later for Book 4 a little down the line. It also means that there's a new episode next week, which you will probably like a whole lot better. I know I will. I keep getting the impression there's a different team working on Haruhi 2. It shows in the art direction, the acting (Sugita is putting a lot more spark into his performance with a wider range of inflections compared with his uniformly casual talk in Haruhi 1) and the shots. It's bothering me.

Apparently, Kyoto Animation is very aware of my grievances and they're actually using it to showcase different episodes themes. Part II of Endless Eight has the feel of the original series!
I think this episode is only part two of three though...I haven't finished it yet.

This video is all the rage.
It features Haruhi season I's director, who was all but ejected from the company a while back for Lucky Star (as some might remember). He explains what was going on with Endless Eight and points out that Kyoto Animation is full of dumb and stupid.

Finally watched the first part of the Endless Eight.
I didn't think it was horrible. It was a fun Slice of Life kind of thing. I dunno, I don't hate that genre and it was entertaining enough, but it seemed like a lot of scenery porn and just pretty shiny pictures than an actual episode. EDIT: Watched second and third. This is insanely stupid. I'll just skip to the last one when it comes out later this week.

If you have watched at least one episode of the Endless Eight, just watch this video and try to either A) remember the relevant subs or B) figure out the Japanese on your own.
Once you have, you will have no reason to watch the rest. |

So much for Book IV.

I actually enjoyed Endless Eight. One of the few, I know, but still: thought I'd throw it out there.
Naturally, Book 2 which followed was much more enjoyable. Can't wait for the film to come out (online)! It's been several months now since it screened, but we still haven't seen it online yet. (Crappy camcorders in the cinema don't count. -_-; ) Here's hoping the DVD releases really soon! And here's hoping a.f.k. volunteers to sub this despite Bandai's more aggressive protection of their Haruhi franchise nowadays.

I've "seen" (pretended to have) the camcorder Haruhi movie, it's not abyssal but with my ADD I haven't had the patience to get through it. I imagine I would have had just as tough a time in a theatre watching it.
The movie might not appear online for a long time. Most movies are delayed far longer than anime because of the brick-n-mortar theatre barrier, but the protracted doldrums seem to have infiltrated even relatively prompt OP movie schedule, and the UBW movie is still a month overdue. ... Oh, Loki. This is for you! Oktoberfeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest!

Totally neglected to mention!...
I waited years for this moment and I was not disappointed. Indeed, quite the opposite: Shamisen's debut exceeded my expectations and wildest dreams. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz0MneW37TY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBIoxE6MSg4 Easily one of the best moments in the entire franchise.

Seems like they're still showing The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi in theaters in Japan, one prefecture at a time. God. Why do they have to do it this way? Why can't they just screen it in the ten biggest cities and then release it on Blu-Ray and DVD?
In other news, Bandai released a trailer for the North American DVD release ... back in June. -.- The "coming soon to DVD" bit at the end really irks me now that it's been, what, 6 to 7 weeks since that video was uploaded? -.- Has Bandai released a Season 2 collector's box yet? I need to get on the ball if so ...

Loki would be able to answer that, but you'll have to warp into the Koprulu Sector to find him.

No. I wouldn't be able to answer that. I haven't bought DVDs in a while due to lack of steady income.
EDIT: It was licensed in January this year. So maybe by November or something they might release some of the DVDs. Probably around Christmas time is my guess. Also, Bandai has licensed Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya in April and was showing it subbed in Hawaii and San Fran. Sucks to be not from the Pacific Coast. Not sure when that releases. Bandai has stated they are releasing a "Perfect Collection" that will include everything, but no clue when that's coming out. Last edited by Loki; 08-07-2010 at 01:02 AM. |

Seeing as I already own the collector's edition of Season 1, I don't want their shitty Perfect Collection. I want a collector's edition for Season 2 and then the movie. That's all.
Thanks for the news.
