I am saddened that they didn't use Mega's as a chance to improve otherwise mediocre 'mon and instead gave them to things that are already powerhouses.

I'm surprised more people from here don't go on smogon.
Any pokemon in the "No Eggs" group gets 3 perfect IVs. This means every single legendary and every single baby pokemon. However, note that Genderless have their own group, I think. Also, Egg moves can now be passed on by the mother. And finally, there is a rumour going around that if the parent holds Destiny Knot, five IVs will be passed to the child.

Also, Hidden Abilities can be passed by the father as well, meaning that I can now have my Chlorophyll Power Whip sweeper. >Concept Well some of them were quite mediocre. Banette, Kangashkan, Charizard, Pinsir, Ampharos, Gardevoir, Mawile, and Medicham. All of them are quite mediocre Pokemon in one way or another. And then they gave it to Garchomp and Mewtwo and Gyarados and Gengar and Alakazam and it all went to shit.

Why is the Flabebe line not Grass/Fairy? They get like every Grass move ever.

I think the reasoning behind that is that they more camouflage among the plants they draw power from, rather than actually being plants.
Also being part-grass themselves would make them fairly piss-poor at supporting other plants. Sadface at the ability being useless in single-battles. And rotation. |

Doesn't stop the line from being one of the best Fairy-type lines ever.

Damning with faint praise.

It's a hell of a lot better than Aromatisse and Slurpuff.

Raises a good question actually: How is the Fairy Type working out for you?
Against the Fairy Type, I am a truly atrocious player, because I haven't memorised its weaknesses and resistances yet, and it's quite unintuitive for me to carry Poison and Steel moves unless they're STAB (Aegislash you beauty). The only Fairy I've actively used is the Flabébé line. Currently have Florges at level 60, and while I am very impressed by its special defence and find it to be a really valuable team member now, it was a slog getting here. Physicals wreck the thing, it's not that fast, and its coverage is rather limited. Not to mention that it's stuck with Fairy Wind as its only STAB option until Moonblast (at level 45!) or Dazzling Gleam (which I got at the same time. Lol.) Wish is nice at least. |

Yeah, I trained Flabebe too- Protip, teach it Natural Gift the second you get the TM. Made them into a true mainstay of my team, whether it was shredding poisons on the beach with EP or pretending to be my team's sorely needed grass-type. It gets even better when you get the Terrain moves, allowing you to change the arena if its particular blend of Natural Gift isn't conductive to your efforts. Also the Terrain moves grant a 50% bonus to their type, like weather, giving her psudo-STAB on Gifted Energy Ball for the long time you'll have Grassy and giving her double-STAB on Moonblast (gifted or not) when/if you switch to Misty.
Also basically making Natural Gift into a Terrain Weather Ball was pretty much the best thing they could have done. Thankies, GF! |

That saaaaaid, fighting against Fairy-types was a real challenge for me, as my team didn't get a poison/steel move until near the endgame (when Aether, my Talonflame, learned Steel Wing).

My Granbull just hit all the other fairies with Play Rough. Who needs SE hits?

It's Nature Power, not Natural Gift, isn't it, Kin?

Dedenne is adorable. It's kind of lacking in the stat department, but is the best fairy as far as I'm concerned. And it takes a while for it to get Play Rough. Nuzzle is actually very useful though. It's really what Thunder Wave should've been all along.

But... She's a special attacker... *Checks movepool* Oh. Oh my. I better get started on trying out egg moves. |
