Have you ever traded with yourself?
Be honest now.
I'll start! Yes yes yes a zillion times yesssss. Link Cable, infrared, through Stadium/2/Box, Wireless Adapter you name it (except Pal Park & GTS I guess...)! From game to game version to version and through generations! And not just PKMN but items to! |

Keeping my old bulky DS after getting my DS Lite has been pretty helpful with this.

I've traded with myself on every Pokémon platform so far. Sad, or AWESOME?

I did back in the Gameboy Pocket/Color era with Red/Blue/Yellow.
I got started late in the DS world and never bought Box so I've been stuck whoring off of Loki for trading over my guys from Diamond to HeartGold. I've been trying to find a cheap original clunky DS, but even those are selling for like $70-80 these days....for a freakin 5 year old system?! |

Of course I do, and I think GameFreaks needs to find a better way to do this now. Transferring is harder than ever in the 4th gen due to no access to something like Box that facilitates mass transfer and due to the pricepoint of the DS, which makes it hard to buy more than one, very few have the multiple GBA/GBCs like they did in the previous gens.
If you continue to release games, people are going to want to retain the same Pokemon across games, so you should find a way to facilitate intragenerational transfer as well as intergenerational. |

Yeah. Pokemon Ranch is lame that it doesn't work with the games after Diamond/Pearl. At least Box Ru/Sa let you transfer Pokemon, just not do other crap.

Part of the problem with PBR is that it didn't work like the old stadium, so you couldn't just keep Pokemon on that cart for easy transfer. :/
And of course I traded with myself. |

Damn right, after I got my Mew on Fire Red, I wanted to finish the game so I had to trade.

Anyone who says they've never done it is a liar!
I remember the first time I tried it, actually... It had been a long, slow afternoon and I was on my own in my bedroom. At first I didn't really know what I was doing, but I just stuck... the thing... into the slot... you know, just to see what it would be like. I hoped I wouldn't get caught. My heart was racing. The more I did it, the better it felt. It felt a little embarrassing to begin with, but it felt soooo good. There were a few times when I was with friends, and sometimes we'd talk about it together... *giggle* Of course, now I live with my boyfriend, so obviously I don't need to do that quite so much anymore. ;] Trading with yourself is natural and healthy, kids! It's your private business. (: |

I haven't "done it" with myself yet. I guess I've been sort of lucky to always have partner to satisfy my needs every time the desire strikes me.
Also, I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I've never really settled down to do it with just one partner exclusively. I guess I prefer to stay independent and do it with as many others as I can -- in fact, I think it gives me better experience and confidence when approaching a potential new partner. I can remember my first time, too; trying to figure out how exactly to plug it in, constantly asking the other person if it was working for them, etc. Now I've gotten much better at it and have even tried out lots of new ways to "spice up" the experience. Lately I've started doing it with partners over the Internet and it's actually a lot of fun. Not quite as satisfying as doing it in real life, but pretty darn close! One of these days, though, when I'm fancying trying something new, and there's nobody who will offer it to me, I might sneak a peek in the Pal Park and try to live out my fantasies with myself. We'll see!

Ooh, Morg, you sound pretty bold with all that. ;]
I've tried making contact using the Internet before... I can't help but feel a little dirty when it's virtually anonymous though. Waking up the next day, not knowing where you got that trainer ID from... It's sad to think that my partner will probably just forget all about me after they get what they want from me. ): Not to say that the Internet is all bad, I've met some amazing people who went to great lengths to make sure I enjoyed the experience. ;] I especially like it when they, you know... talk to me while they're doing it, hehehe. It's risky dealing with strangers. Sure, you might get a nice surprise now and then, but sometimes you might end up not satisfied at all. Imagine, say, if you were expecting a girl and you ended up with a male. :X |

This threads gotten all weird but I see there are some no's! Its not a bad thing.... oh a good thing really especially with Box, easily moving all your goodies to the end of the gen definitive version! Some day the no's might outweigh the yes's but those people will suck cause they're not in the "don't fuck with these guys" club!

I did almost the same thing.
I had no idea what Pokemon was but with my birthday on October 8th, I saw it in the papers for a Best Buy advertisement the week that it came out. Of course I went with Red, as the Charizard and the color red lured me in. With the Gameboy Pocket I received and the birthday money from relatives, I got Blue later that week. Unfortunately I did not have another Gameboy...which has always been the bane of my existence! To this very day I still rely on friends to help me trade, though know they're thousands of miles apart. |
