Grovyle Raptor Island Recorded History

RAPTOR ISLAND
Bicycle Zone

Raptor Island, a large island off the western coast of Fizzy Bubbles, has recently fallen under heritage laws because of its abnormally high number of ancient and exotic wildlife and surplus of the rarest of the rare Pokémon. In order to avoid excess pollution on and around the island, no motorised vehicles are allowed within a five kilometre radius. The only way to access Raptor Island is via the Bicycle Path which spans from the Fizzy Bubbles mainland to the shore of the island itself. Only Raptor Island staff have permission to cross the Bicycle Path, but every now and then limited edition Bicycle Vouchers are awarded so that the public may visit. Once on the island tourists will be able to traverse the terrain or perform tasks for island staff after which they will be rewarded.

Being so large it can take weeks to travel the entire island in order to explore each and every region. Pokémon preserves, breeding centres, research laboratories and excavation sites are but a few of the attractions, while in the lush forests, rugged mountains, vast lakes and dark underground reside many Pokémon that are rarely seen on the mainland.

When presenting a Bicycle Voucher at Raptor Bridge, trainers will be loaned a Mach Bike for the 10 mile trip to Raptor Island. Once there, they have the option of switching bikes regularly as many "Swap Stops" are located across the island so that staff and visitors are able to negotiate the ever changing terrain. Upon arrival, Raptor Island tourists are given an Explorer Kit, Treasure Sack, and one Raptor Ball which can be used to capture a Pokémon during their stay. All other forms of Pokéball, including Master Balls, are outlawed.

Some of Raptor Island's amazing attractions are as follows:

Bicycle Path
An extension of the bridge bringing people from the mainland, this path winds in and around the island, even leading underground in some areas. For a scenic trip, you can spend weeks riding across the island to take in the many wonderful sights Raptor Island has to offer.

Alpha Centre
Raptor Island's Main Research Centre. All data from the smaller research centres on the island are sent here for examination. Sometimes they'll even have a job or two available for trainers exploring the island.

Everglade Preserve
A large rainforest in which many rare Grass, Bug, Poison and Flying types reside. A fair few common Pokémon have also made it their home due to the fact they feel so much safer here because of Pokémon trainers rarely being allowed access to the island. For the most part, those living here are quite friendly, but there are some who don't particularly like to be disturbed...

Beta Centre: Everglade Preserves Research Centre. A row of greenhouses containing samples of the plants, trees and soil from the rainforest. The scientists here are working on deciphering the strange genetic code of the forest plants as the properties they contain tend to have special effects upon the Pokémon who feed on them.

Dewdrop Fields: This expanse of field is home to many Grass Pokémon. The moisture in the air, on the ground, and on the plants and trees resulting in a crisp, fresh atmosphere that grass types thrive upon. The Pokémon found here tend to be a little stronger than those found on the mainland for reasons that are still unknown.

Tree of Light: Deep in the forest stands an ancient tree which is said to have been blessed by Celebi. Its bark, branches and leaves are a lighter shade than most of the forest trees while a shimmering aura surrounds it at all times. At night the light glow radiating from the tree gently illuminates the area in which it stands, its strange mystical qualities tending to attract many Shiny Pokémon.

Noxious Marsh: An area of the forest most steer clear of, even Raptor Island Rangers are weary of straying too close. The toxic waters attract many Poison Pokémon, particularly the more rare and dangerous kinds...

Nectar Valley: A valley containing many Apricorn Trees, Berry Plants and rare flowers. The strong scents have attracted many Bug Pokémon, particularly those who are rarely seen on the mainland.

Crow's Nest: Sitting atop the ridge overlooking Nectar Valley on one side and the Archaeological Dig on the other, Crows Nest is a nesting ground for most Flying Pokémon. The area tends to attract trainers when they're allowed access to the island due to the large number of rare bird Pokémon found here, but caution is a must for these Pokémon are extremely protective of their young...

Excavation Site
On the outskirts of Everglade Preserve is an excavation site where the remains of an ancient civilization has been unearthed. From all accounts this society was advanced for its time and raised many rare Pokémon, including some who have not yet been identified.

Gamma Centre: Research Centre attached to the Excavation Site. Due to the number of fossils that have been discovered in this region, the Gamma Centre has a Fossil Regeneration Machine as well as many other laboratories where DNA studies take place. It is even rumored the Professor in charge has already discovered how to clone Pokémon and is attempting to crossbreed incompatible Pokémon species through their DNA.

Archaeological Dig: The actual dig site taking up around five square miles of land. Research teams scour the area, each concentrating their efforts upon aspects of the site that peak their interest. Some of the team leaders may have chores for trainers, though most do not appreciate strangers trampling over the site.

Sobal's Tomb: An underground network of tunnels which has been discovered to contain many tombs. From current observations, it appears the civilization who built these tunnels worshiped Dark Pokémon. There are no jewels or priceless items to be found down here, though the atmosphere is quite eerie as it is not uncommon to hear the faint whispers of those long deceased...

Raptor Valley
A deep valley in the very centre of Raptor Island where several gently flowing waterfalls trickle into the stream below. The Pokémon who dwell here are not used to the sight of trainers, though being familiar with Raptor Island Rangers they feel safe in the presence of humans and generally don't flee when approached. A lush green area with many rough trails, hidden caves, and secret hideouts, Pokémon of all kinds are drawn to the area due to its seclusion and rich source of nutrition.

Delta Centre: The Raptor Valley Research Centre where various studies involving Water Pokémon and their habitat take place.

Starlight Stream: A gently flowing stream winding around the western edge of Lake Eclipse in which many rare Water Pokémon reside. At night, the light from the stars illuminates the water, giving its surface a beautiful starlight effect. There are several narrow bridges at intervals along the banks where it is possible to cross, but you'll want to be careful for the Water Pokémon here are not always as charming as the appearance of the water itself...

Lake Eclipse: A large lake in the centre of Raptor Valley where it is said that only during a rare eclipse do some of the more ancient underwater Pokémon appear...

Crystal Cave: A deep cave on the very edge of Lake Eclipse from which an ice cold wind blows. Just walking past its entrance sends a chill up your spine. Ice types are sometimes seen in the area, though most don't tend to leave the comfort of their home. What draws the most curiosity is not the chilling cold, but the eerie, echoing call emanating from the very depths of the cave each and every Friday...

Alpha Cave: Very hard to find, those who have accidentally stumbled across it never seem able to find the entrance again no matter how hard they look. Inside are mysterious Pokémon containing hidden powers, and some believe they are responsible for the unknown location of the caves entrance. Leading deep into the bowels of the valley, all trainers who have entered have ended up leaving via the caves direct connection to the Underground.

Underground
A network of underground tunnels and caverns spanning for miles. A section of the Bicycle Path leads through it, but the trail is quite hazardous in places so riders need to be alert while traveling. Many Rock, Ground, Steel, and Fire Types are encountered here, the rarer types tending to hide in the deepest areas of the underground.

Epsilon Centre: The Underground's Research Centre where studies into the special ores and minerals found here take place. Staff often have jobs available for anyone willing to offer their services and will reward people for their time.

Fire Cavern: Legend says that centuries ago two Legendary Dogs engaged in a lethal battle on Raptor Island. Both near death, they fled into the underground to die. Upon Entei's demise, his body fused with the cavern causing small lava pits to form. In the very centre of Fire Cavern is Entei's paw print, soldered into the rock...

Ice Cavern: Legend says that centuries ago two Legendary Dogs engaged in a lethal battle on Raptor Island. Both near death, they fled into the underground to die. Upon Suicune's demise, his body fused with the cavern causing the entire area to become encased in ice. In the very centre of Ice Cavern is Suicune's paw print, frozen into the rock...

Dragon's Den: In the deepest, darkest part of the underground is an enormous cavern where Dragon Pokémon reside. Partially filled with water, the dank and powerful atmosphere will often cause fear to enter the heart of those who enter...

Magnetic Field
An area of Raptor Island where a strange magnetic force has attracted many Electric Pokémon. Flying Pokémon tend to steer clear of the area, though quite a few Grass, Ground, and Fighting Pokémon can be found here.

Zeta Centre: Magnetic Field's Research Centre where studies are being performed to attempt to explain the curious levels of magnetism in the area. It is not uncommon for jobs to be offered to tourists so a visit here may be well worth your while.

Thunder Plains: Two towering lightning rods erected by Zeta Centre scientists stand in the middle of this grassy plain. Designed to study the effects of lighting in this already highly electrically charged atmosphere, it has been discovered that during thunderstorms some of the more rare and dangerous Electric Pokémon appear as a result of the excess energy levels.

Crater Pasture: An area of Magnetic Field where Voltorb and Electrode dwell. A land rights war has recently broken out between these Electric Pokémon and the local Diglett and Dugtrio population resulting in the pasture being left scarred with hundreds of small crater-like holes. The ground is now quite unstable, so Raptor Island Rangers have erected many signs warning people against traversing the area.

Raikou's Throne: A large rock resembling a throne stands in the centre of Magnetic Field, overlooking the entire area. On top stands a single stone statue known as "Raikou's Effigy" as it is the spitting image of the Electric Dog of Legend. Rumour has it that centuries ago Raikou, Suicune and Entei all lived in harmony on Raptor Island until the day Raikou decided he wanted control. Upon discovering their brothers evil plans, Suicune and Entei attempted to stop him, but Raikou was deviously clever, eventually succeeding in turning the two against one another. The two brothers ended up fighting to the death leaving Raikou the only force of power on the island. Pleased with himself, Raikou was sitting atop his throne overlooking his kingdom when a mighty God Pokémon appeared before him. As punishment for his heartless cruelty and deceptiveness in turning brother upon brother, the God Pokémon turned Raikou into stone. Raikou's Effigy still stands atop his throne where he can forever watch over the island he betrayed his brothers to own...

Eterna Ravine
A crescent shaped ravine through which the stream from Raptor Valley flows. The diverse landscape is home to many Pokémon, though a mysterious energy has attracted a higher than usual number of Psychic Pokémon.

Eta Centre: Eterna Ravine's Research Centre where scientists study Psychic Pokémon and their abilities. Occasional jobs are given out to trainers who are willing to help.

Crescent Stream: In the middle of this stream sits a strange rock from which an unusual energy pulses, attracting those sensitive to it. Some believe the rock to be a sundial, while others are not so sure.

Fantasy Woods: An area of the rolling hillside that Raptor Island Rangers steer clear of. Nobody ever speaks of their experiences here, making this section of wood that much more appealing to those who are curious by nature.

Eterna Ruins: Four ancient pillars inscribed with undeciphered hieroglyphs are all that is left of this once impressive temple. It is said that when the crescent moon shines upon the pillars, unusual events occur...

Re: Raptor Island

Raptor Island - The Bicycle Zone
Raptor Island is a special event zone and is only accessible to members who hold a Bicycle Voucher. Each member who enters Raptor Island will be given a mini adventure which will last three days (update wise - not real time). During that time they will have access to many weird and wonderful Pokémon and items that are for the most part extremely uncommon in regular FB zones, and in some cases Pokémon who are not normally allowed to be caught. The only catch is that each member will have only ONE chance to catch a Pokémon here, so they'll need to choose wisely.

Bicycle Vouchers
The Bicycle Voucher is a "Pass" which allows you access to Raptor Island. Without a Bicycle Voucher you cannot enter the zone. Passes are obtainable in only two ways, the first as a prize in the special FB Birthday Casino Lottery, and the other through the Celestial Cruise Line. If you're lucky enough to be one of the twelve trainers to win a spot on a Mystery Cruise you'll have the chance to win one of three vouchers during your trip.
- Passes are non-tradeable. They cannot be traded, given away, or handed over to another member in any way whatsoever. The person who wins it is the person who must use it. If you win a Bicycle Voucher that you do not want, then it may be discarded.
- All Bicycle Vouchers must be presented with a link to your win when entering Raptor Island.
- Bicycle Vouchers won in the Casino must be used within 30 days of you receiving it.
- Bicycle Vouchers won on a Mystery Cruise cannot be used until the conclusion of the cruise on which it was won.
- If Mystery Cruise Bicycle Voucher winners drop out of a cruise before it is concluded, they will lose their right to use the voucher to enter Raptor Island.
- Once you have used your voucher to enter Raptor Island it must be removed from your inventory.
- If you leave FB while on Raptor Island only to return at a later date, you have forfeited your right to your adventure and may not restart it.

Raptor Ball
The Raptor Ball is the ONLY Pokéball allowed to be used on Raptor Island. All other types of Pokéball, including Master Balls, are outlawed.
- Raptor Balls cannot be traded.
- Each member entering Raptor Island will receive one Raptor Ball to use to capture a Pokémon on Raptor Island.
- If the Raptor Ball given to you is not used during your stay, it needs to be handed back upon the conclusion of your adventure.
- Only Pokémon caught on Raptor Island may be housed in a Raptor Ball. You cannot transfer another of your Pokémon into it.
- Pokémon caught in Raptor Balls cannot be traded away or put up for adoption, but can be released into the wild.

Adventuring on Raptor Island
When entering the zone you can RP your arrival in any way you wish before handing in your Bicycle Voucher at the Raptor Island Bridge ticket booth on the Fizzy Bubbles Mainland. Your updator will take over from there. At various times during your adventure you will come across Swap Stops where you will be able to switch bikes according to the area you are traveling in. Please remember that you will have only one chance of capturing a Pokémon on Raptor Island so it may not be the wisest choice to attempt catching the first rare Pokémon you see. Or will it? ^-~

Current Ticket Holders
- Arc_Angel (SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher) - May enter upon completion of the cruise.
- S_M (SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher) - May enter upon completion of the cruise.

Currently Adventuring
Joshua

Completed Adventures
Aliatias - Voluntarily dropped out

Invalid Tickets
- quilava plush (SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher) - Dropped out of the cruise.
- Shinjara (SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher) - Dropped out of the cruise.

* Evolved Pokémon cannot be caught.
* Legendary Pokémon may be seen but cannot be caught.

Re: Raptor Island

OOC: I was actually hesitating to enter this zone with my Bicycle Voucher because of the massive workload that you guys have updating Excelsior, but I figured that I might as well enter anyways since I'm not sure if Excelsior will be gone by August 25th. That said, so that I don't add myself to your workload, I'm willing to wait until after Excelsior disappears from UPN before being updated here. Sorry for the trouble that this might cause.

-----

"For months I have wondered what this Bicycle Voucher was for..."

It had obviously been a very long time since the cruise ended, after the massive scare aboard the cruise. Beyond all of that, there was also the Bicycle Voucher that Soruta had won. She had not known about the existence of Raptor Island until just recently, but now was her chance to use the voucher. According to the information that she had gathered from fellow friends in the area, one could only enter Raptor Island by using a Bicycle Voucher in which a bicycle would be loaned to them afterwards. Also, Raptor Island is supposed to be home to some of the rarest Pokemon in the entire world - although Soruta was a bit more intrested in just seeing them rather than capturing them.

"Hey Saito, look at that! That's one really long bridge, isn't it?"

Soruta was standing near Raptor Bridge. As she peered across the bridge, she saw a speck at what she presumed to be the end of the bridge, although it was sort of hard to even peer across the bridge in the first place, due to the salty sea breeze that was blowing her hair in front of her face. She couldn't help but wonder, "How long did it take them to build a bridge this long?" Saito, her trusty Breloom, was probably wondering the same thing, although it was likely that he wouldn't be able to make the trip to the island in a bicycle, since said bicycles would probably only have one seat only.

"Sorry, Saito. You might have to stay in your Pokeball during the bike ride like all of the others. But don't worry, I'm pretty sure that I'm allowed to release you to walk alongside me as soon as we cross the bridge. It's going to be an exciting experience, don't you think? I'm thinking about heading towards that Everglade Preserve that I heard about a while back." With that, she returned Saito - who gave a slight protest at this - to his green Leaf Ball. Soruta proceeded to hand over the Bicycle Voucher for her bicycle and other equipment such as an Explorer Kit, signaling the start of her Raptor Island adventure.

Re: Raptor Island

OOC: Since I seem to need to remind myself what this zone is about every time I come online, I'll post thie now, so I don't forget...

Normally Joshua would have been thrilled at his current experience, the sights and sounds of a new land zipping past as Hayley flew through the skies, but his mind was elsewhere. His hand clutched gingerly at the small ticket he now held, he thought ahead about the world of Raptor Island, what mysteries it might provide...

...Before he sailed over the Flygon's back as she unceremoniously landed, her trainer sliding across the grassy ground on his butt for a few feet. Ensuring he still had the Bicycle Voucher before rising, Joshua made his way towards towards the Raptor Island Bridge ticket booth. The thought of pedalling ten miles to Raptor Island... An involuntary shudder shook through Joshua, who wasn't a large fan of riding bicycles. He'd been quite comfortable with walking when he originally starting adventures, but with Tessie the Arcanine for his land travel, Hayley the Flygon for air travel and Jamie the Swampert for water, he'd become quite lazy, and wasn't sure how well he'd handle the exercise...

Recalling Hayley to her ball with a thanks, Joshua readied himself for the trip, thinking about heading towards Raptor Valley, and from there to the Starlight Stream. The night sky had always fascinated Joshua, and the rumours about the beauty of Starlight Stream... He couldn't wait...

Re: Raptor Island

The colour used for this zone is seagreen, and if everyone can please reply in size 1 font I'll love you forever ^-~. Size 1 is so pwetty and if everyone uses it, makes the zone look even pwettier *dances a pwetty dance*

Alilatias: Standing at the far end of Raptor Bridge, you gaze across the water at the island in the distance. Rumours abound regarding this island being a sanctuary for some of the rarer Pokémon in the land, and while you've heard that there is a chance of catching one here, you're more than happy just to see them. Saito is standing beside you looking quizzically at the long bridge spanning over the water, and while he's wondering what adventures lay ahead you're contemplating the ride over. Knowing it will be impossible for him to join you on the ride, you reluctantly return him to his Pokéball, at least for the time being, before handing in your ticket at the Raptor Island ticket booth. The attendant smiles pleasantly, pointing toward a row of Mach Bikes sitting under a shelter to the side of the booth. After waiting for you to choose one, the attendant presses a button which opens the sliding gate blocking off the entrance to the long, concrete bridge spanning across the water.

On a day like today, with a clear blue sky and the sun shining brightly, a light sea breeze washes past you as you ride across the bridge making your trip to the island a pleasant one. The Mach Bike is designed for speedy travel, and with such a clear run before you, it doesn't take long to cover the ten miles needed to reach Raptor Island. Once ashore, you reach a tourist stall where the attendant hands you a map, Explorer Kit, Treasure Sack, and one Raptor Ball which she explains can be used to capture a Pokémon on the island. While you've already been contemplating visiting the Everglade Preserve, a sign on the notice board outside of a large modern looking building named "Alpha Centre" catches your attention.

HELP WANTED!
Enquire within for job descriptions.

Wondering if accepting a job during your stay is a wise decision as it may take you away from where you'd initially planned to travel, you briefly mull over the possibility of seeing what is available...

Joshua: Arriving in style at the Raptor Island ticket booth, if you can call sliding on your butt "arriving in style", you quickly climb to your feet before sighing deeply while looking across the ten mile expanse of concrete stretched out before you. While Raptor Island is protected by heritage laws meaning the surrounding area is protected from any motorised vehicles that can contribute toward pollution, you're not a big fan of bicycles and so find the prospect of putting your own muscles to use rather than those of your Pokémon unappealing at best. Walking over to the ticket booth, you hand your bicycle pass to the attendant who smiles politely and points to a row of Mach Bikes sitting under a shelter. After waiting for you to choose one, the attendant presses a button which opens the sliding gate guarding the entrance to bridge.

Several minutes later with a pleasant breeze washing over you as you zoom across Raptor Bridge, you're finding the journey to be much more pleasant than you'd initially expected. It's a perfect spring morning, there are no clouds in sight, and the journey isn't nearly as draining as one would think due to the Mach Bikes power. A short time later you arrive on the island to find a tourist stall where the attendant hands you a map, Explorer Kit, Treasure Sack, and one Raptor Ball which she explains can be used to capture a Pokémon on the island. While your mind is already wandering toward Raptor Valley's Starlight Stream, a sign on the notice board outside of a large modern looking building named "Alpha Centre" catches your attention.

OOC: One small question, Tessie dear. Do/did I leave the Mach Bike somewhere, or am I carting it around with me?

Joshua found himself enraptured, the experience of riding to Raptor Island far more enjoyable that he ever had imagined. The gentle breeze caused his hair to flutter wildly around his head, and the sun left him feeling warm. Even the swift arrival took him by surprise, the island having seemed much farther away from on Hayley's back.

Thoughts of Starlight Stream penetrated Joshua's thoughts as he listened to the attendant. He glanced over the map quickly to confirm the general direction of Starlight Stream, before examining the other items. He ran his fingers gently over the Raptor Ball, stroking it as he imagined what wonderful Pokemon he could find on this island. The Explorer Kit and Treasure Sack, however, caught his interest, and he made a mental note to at least try using the Kit once during his stay.

His thoughts were suddenly swayed, however, by a sign nearby. "Help wanted," he muttered to himself, weighing over the concept of offering his assistance. This island was a rare opportunity, perhaps even a once in a lifetime experience... But then his charitable side won out, and he found himself deciding to enter the Alpha Center to see what jobs were available. "Maybe I'll get lucky," he said softly to himself. "Maybe one of these jobs will take me to the Starlight Stream..."

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: Whenever you enter a building you'll have a bicycle stand outside where you can leave your bike.

Reading the "Help Wanted" sign outside of the Alpha Centre, you mull over your options. While it will be nice to help out with a job or two, the very fact you are even here on Raptor Island is a huge stroke of luck to begin with and you're not sure you really want to be spending too much time running errands when there is so much to see. Your charitable side eventually wins out though and hopping off your Mach Bike, you place it in the Bike Stand before entering the Alpha Centre's large glass doors. Once inside you find the modern design of the building to be quite impressive, and take a few minutes to look around. The colour theme tends to match the island, white with a beautiful shade of forest green to set it off. Strange, exotic plants are placed all around the lobby, while one entire corner has been converted into a mini jungle in which you can spy at least three Chatot perched upon the branches. Comfortable green sofas are spaced around the room so that visitors have somewhere to rest while waiting. The reception desk appears to have all of the most modern equipment, and even the elevators appear to be of the latest design. Perusing the directory you note that there are thirteen floors, each designated to different departments of agricultural or Pokémon studies. Moving over to the notice board, your eyes are immediately drawn to the "Help Wanted" section, and so you take a few minutes to read over the positions available.

A small part of Joshua was perfectly thrilled with his choice, the mere sights and sounds of the Alpha Centre astounding. He took a few moments to stare at the Chatot, having never encountered them before, before perusing the directory. The sheer size of the building was impressive, but the different departments impressed him even more. Having only a few moments to browse, Joshua wondered in the back of his mind whether any of these departments studied Dark and Dragon type Pokemon, before he examined the job wanted listed.

He immediately discounted the jobs to the Gamma Centre and Eta Centre, grinning slightly as he remembered some rather uncoordinated moments in his life that suggested he wasn't good was fragile items. He was sorely tempted by the Beta Centre job, the idea of travelling with a Bulbasaur, even for a short time, thrilled him, but he stopped at the description of the last job. Not only was it a humanitarian mission, but it was headed in the same direction he was, to Raptor Valley, in which Starlight Stream was. The only question was, was he supposed to ask for details here, and just head to Delta Centre.

After a few moments, he decided to ask around here for details, and undoubtedly he'd either end up with the supplies here, or he'd be directed to Delta Centre, and he'd be able to enjoy his bike riding again.

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: With the Raptor Valley position appealing to you, you pluck the advertisement from the noticeboard and head over to the Reception Desk to find out more. The receptionist, a girl of about eighteen, smiles sweetly, thanking you for offering your services before pointing toward the lifts and informing you the Medical Supply Office is on the first floor. Thanking her, you head over to the elevators, pressing the number "1" button. A minute later you emerge from the lift into a large, brightly lit room completely decorated in white. Rows upon rows of shelves are positioned neatly spanning from one side of the room to the other, containing everything from small medical instruments to packages of dried herbs. Larger boxes are stacked along the walls, each clearly labelled stating their contents, and to the right of the lift door is a small desk with a large, locked gate behind it leading into a more secure area where the more potent drugs are kept. Behind the desk is a lab attendant, a young man of about nineteen, who appears to be rather flustered. His wavy brown hair which is hanging to his shoulders appears not to have been brushed in quite some time, while the bags under his dark blue eyes which are clouded with worry signify he hasn't had a decent night's sleep for many days. Upon noticing your arrival his gaze moves directly to your hand in which you're holding the job advertisement, and his eyes fill with relief.

"Thank goodness you're here!" he exclaims, leaping from his seat and immediately lifting two of several packages from the floor beside him. "The situation is escalating, and they're needing more and more supplies by the minute! Every spare staff member we have are already travelling to Raptor Valley to deliver the medicine, but they're just not getting there fast enough. Everyone is making multiple trips to supply as much medicine as possible, and I'm run off my feet trying to fill the orders."

Just as he finishes speaking, an exhausted looking teenage girl exits the lift, grabs two more boxes of supplies from the attendant, and races back into the lift. You're not quite sure what's going on, but judging from the sense of urgency you're feeling, you're certain that something very bad is happening in Raptor Valley...

Joshua tried to get his head round the multiple occurances going on at once. The state of the lab attendant worried him, giving him cause to suspect something far more serious was going on than he'd imagined. 'Every spare staff member?" he thought to himself, thinking to the girl who'd come and gone without so much as a word. Adopting what he thought to be a charitable expression, he turned to the lab attendant.

"If you need to ship a lot of supplies, then perhaps I can do more than just carry some myself." Unclicking two Pokeballs from his belt, the trainer proceeded to twirl them on the index finger of both hands. "My Arcanine is a speed demon on land, and my Flygon is an ace in the air. If we can, perhaps we can load them up with medical supplies, and I can carry some as well. That should help you cope with the demand you seem to be under."

Joshua's thoughts turned to his Pokemon as he waited for the lab attendant's answer, thinking with a grin about what his Pokemon's reactions would be to being used as pack animals. Tessie wouldn't mind as such, she'd be pleased to get a chance to stretch her legs and get a decent run. Hayley, on the other hand, wouldn't be too happy about it, although Joshua was sure she'd do it for him if he asked her nicely. And perhaps begged her. Maybe some bribery as well...

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: Upon hearing your suggestion the lab attendant stops dead in his tracks, staring at the two Pokéballs you're holding with a surprised look on his face. The next minute, his eyes light up and a huge grin spreads across his face. Though you've been in his presence for but a few brief minutes, you can sense this is the first time he's smiled in days and are happy you'd thought to offer the service of your Pokémon.

"That will be absolutely wonderful!" he exclaims, his expression of relief saying more than his words. "We can use all the help we can get at the moment and your Pokémon will be able to get there very quickly if they take the most direct route to Raptor Valley."

Opening a drawer the attendant removes a map, unrolling it and spreading it across his desk before pointing to a green space close to the middle of it.

"This is Raptor Valley," he says, moving his finger in a circular motion around the forest coloured area of the map. "And this is us," he continues, trailing his finger to the upper edge. "As you can see there is quite a bit of distance to cover and under normal circumstances will take roughly half a day to get there if you don't make any stops while riding. Your Flygon should be able to make the trip in less than an hour, and your Arcanine in about two considering it'll have a fair bit of ground to cover."

Rolling up the map, the attendant hands it to you before retrieving a trolley from the storeroom and filling it with several packages of medical supplies.

"The three of you will be able to manage these easily," he says, his voice cutting off when yet another person exits the lift to retrieve another of the many medical supply packages. A minute later he returns his attention to you. "Warn your Pokémon to be careful upon reaching the valley, and not to drink any water not supplied by the rangers or they may end up needing the very supplies they're carrying. Good luck my friend, and be safe!"

With that the lab attendant returns to his duties, leaving you to your own devices. Exiting the Alpha Centre, you return to where you left your Mach Bike before releasing Tessie and Hayley and explaining what needs to be done. As expected, Tessie is more than happy to help and stands still while you strap a few of the packages securely onto her back. Hayley on the other hand isn't so happy, though considering the situation doesn't argue the point. The look in her eye is telling you you're going to have to do something very special to make this up to her, but a few minutes later she is also laden with packages leaving two left for you to carry which you pop into your backpack.

Removing the map and showing both Pokémon where they need to go, you watch while they both take off into the distance. Hayley takes a more direct route as she soars into the sky while Tessie hits the Bicycle Path at full speed, disappearing from view in less than ten seconds as she rounds a bend in the path. Mounting your bike you also begin your journey, hoping your Pokémon don't encounter any trouble along the way without you there to protect them.

The ride goes smoothly as you pass through the Everglade Preserve. The rainforest is beautiful and you find yourself wishing you have time to slow down and explore the area more thoroughly, but considering the apparent urgency of the mission you're on you decide it's best to travel to Raptor Valley as quickly as possible. It's when you're passing Nectar Valley that you first notice something doesn't appear to be right as the apricorn trees, berry plants, and multitude of flowers in the area all appear to be wilting for no apparent reason, but it's the Scyther laying in the middle of the path that has grabbed your immediate attention. Coming to a stop beside the bug type, you notice its colour seems a little off. It's a darker green than normal, its joints and belly being more red than yellow, when the sudden realization that it's a shiny Scyther hits you. This certainly isn't something you're likely to see every day, let alone up close and personal, laying in the middle of a bicycle path, its breathing very shallow while poison courses through its veins...

Joshua watches as Hayley and Tessie disappear off from sight, carrying the supplies to Raptor Valley. He knows that both Pokemon understand how dire the situation is, well, they understand as much as their trainer does. He also has faith in them not to drink any water, and his thoughts turn to how exactly he's going to repay Hayley for this, before she makes him pay for it.

As he cycles through Nectar Valley, the sight of wilted flora disturbs Joshua seriously, the trainer slowing down to get a better look at the surrounding plant life. However, his attention is soon instantly drawn to the Scyther crumpled in the middle of the path. Immediately braking, Joshua dismounts the bike, kneeling beside the injured Pokemon.

He finally gets a good look at the Scyther, and tilts his head from side to side, the fact that this Scyther is shiny finally dawning on him. The sound of its ragged breathing is enough to give Joshua the idea something is wrong, and the surrounding wilting plants leave him with the idea that the Scyther is poisoned.

With a swift switch thanks to instanteous PC access through his Pokedex, Joshua unleashed two Pokemon, Michael the Umbreon and Beau the Scizor. Both Pokemon immediately checking over the injured Scyther, Beau in particular looking worried. "Guys, this is what we're going to do. Michael, I need you to Wish for this Scyther's health, maybe even Wish it a long life."

Michael nods, and Beau looks to Joshua for his instructions. With a quick movement, Joshua unleashes Wrath the Zangoose as well, the mongoose Pokemon looking somewhat intrigued by the Scyther's condition. "Beau, Wrath, I need you two to scout around. See if you can find any berries that might help, or maybe even some clues as to what the hell is going on here." Both Pokemon nod, and head off in two different directions. Joshua returns his attention to the Scyther, reaching into his bag for some Antidote and Potions, hoping that perhaps he still has some, making a note to purchase some next time he gets a chance.

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: To say you're confused is an understatement. Since your arrival on Raptor Island, absolutely nothing seems to be going smoothly. The mysterious job vacancy, the medical supplies, the panicked state of the lab attendant, the wilting flora here in Nectar Valley, and now this poisoned Scyther laying in the middle of the bicycle path. Something is seriously wrong here, and you're wanting to know what that is. Releasing Michael and Beau to help with your examination of the shiny Scyther, you instruct Michael to Wish for its health while you remove another Pokéball releasing Wrath whom you instruct to help Beau search the immediate vicinity in search of berries and answers - anything that can possibly aide in helping Scyther and providing some clues as to what is happening.

Several minutes later, finding yourself short on your own medical supplies which you make a mental note to purchase as soon as possible, you're watching over Scyther whose breathing is becoming more shallow by the minute when Beau and Wrath return. Beau is holding a handful of rotten berries to demonstrate the severity of damage to the area while Wrath is motioning for you to come and have a look at something she has found. Leaving Michael with Scyther, you follow Wrath who leads you into the trees. A minute later you find yourself staring at a slimy, toxic trail of destruction which appears to be originating from the Noxious Marsh and leading through Nectar Valley before heading off into the distance. Something has made this trail, a mass of somethings if the damage is anything to go by, and whether purposely or not, they've left a lethal trail of toxins behind which is killing off Pokémon and plant life in the areas they're passing through. Taking this into consideration, along with the fact that Raptor Valley is in need of a multitude of medical supplies, and it doesn't take long to realise that you'll need to get there quickly in order to discover what all of this means.

Returning to Scyther who is looking worse rather than better, Michael's gaze falls upon yours. He's been Wishing his heart out, but his efforts appear to be in vain. Knowing you can't just leave it here, you're wracking your brain trying to figure out what to do when Beau takes matters into his own hands. Reaching down, he lifts Scyther and places it gently across his shoulders, fully intending to carry his kin all the way to Raptor Valley. Nodding with understanding, as there really is nothing else you can do, you quickly return Michael and Wrath before mounting your Mach Bike and resuming your journey while Beau runs alongside. Concerned for Beau, you're sure to keep a steady yet moderate pace so that he's not worn out too quickly, before finally arriving in Raptor Valley. The sight that greets you is horrifying. The water flowing gently along Starlight Stream is a dirty, murky colour, and water Pokémon by the dozen are floating belly up in the water. The water in Lake Eclipse appears to be untouched by the pollution thus far, but the surrounding woodland is completely wilted, seemingly damaged beyond repair. Bird Pokémon are laying at the bottom of the trees they were perched in, free roaming Pokémon are too ill to walk and are laying on the ground, all being rounded up by Raptor Island staff who are desperately trying to save them. Dozens of medical tents have been erected in the area, while cyclists are racing back and forth with packages of medical supplies. More supplies are arriving by air, carried in strapped upon the backs of many different flying types.

While you're trying to process the morbid scene, Tessie races toward you, barking a greeting to show she's relieved to see you. The packages she had been carrying have already been removed, and within moments Hayley has also spotted you, coming in to a gentle landing beside Beau, her gaze sweeping across the destruction below. From the expression in her eyes, you doubt you'll have to do anything at all to make up for having asked her to carry the medical supplies out here, as she also appears to be quite distressed by unfolding events. Whatever you may have expected to find here in Raptor Valley, this is definitely not something you could have possibly fathomed...

To say Joshua was both amazed and frustrasted would be an understatement at the moment, as he rose along at a moderate pace for Beau. His eyes watched the road ahead of him, occasionally flicking back to his Scizor, who was still diligently running along, carrying his wounded kin over his shoulder. The images of the toxic wasteland that Nectar Valley had been twisted into kept playing in Joshua's mind like a warped cinema flick, and his thoughts continued to loop to an single desire. 'I will find out what the hell is going on here.'

This desire intensified tenfold upon their arrival at Starlight Stream. The land itself cried out in pain, and Joshua and Beau both stood with horrified looks on their faces at the sight before them. Looking at the injured Scyther on Beau's shoulder, Joshua began to prioritise his actions.

"Beau, first we find someone who can help Scyther." Beau nodded, and proceeded to transfer the injured mantis to Tessie's back, most likely a more comfortable place. Hayley landed beside Joshua, her eyes immediately taking in the hurt Scyther and the tired Beau, before looking to her trainer.

"Once we've found someone to help us with Scyther, we'll drop off the medical supplies I have with me. Then, guys, we're going to find out the source of this pollution, and we're going to start in Noxious Marsh." The trio of Pokemon nodded, and they began to search for someone who could take the supplies and help the Scyther, the partially exhausted Beau leaning heavily on his trainer as they walked, Joshua pushing the bike beside him.

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: Wanting to get to the bottom of this living nightmare, you know you can't even begin to look into it until you've delivered your supplies and found help for Scyther. Dismounting your Mach Bike, you walk slowly along the trail while taking in the scene around you. The devastation is of an unimaginable scale. If you'd thought it was bad from afar, seeing it up close is far worse. Instinctively wanting to help each and every Pokémon you pass by, you know you can't save them all and instead keep on track heading straight for the nearest medical tent. Upon your arrival you hand Scyther over to a ranger while another is quick to take the supplies you've brought in. "Thank you so much for your help," she says with a weary, yet grateful, smile before turning and rushing back inside the tent. Just like everyone else you've come across who is volunteering their time during the medical emergency, she looks exhausted. You can understand why, but knowing this doesn't help answer your questions as to what has caused this catastrophe. Everyone is so busy running around and dealing with the effects of what is happening that nobody appears to have time to investigate the cause. Knowing that if there's even the slightest chance of this being only the beginning of the suffering you've witnessed, then it's pretty safe to assume that somebody needs to find out what's going on and there's no reason that someone can't be you.

With Scyther now in capable hands you figure it's time to get to the bottom of this and resolve to retrace your steps, returning to the Everglade Preserve and onto the Noxious Marsh where you believe that whatever is responsible for this has originated. As you're walking away from the tent you notice a group of serious faced rangers and trainers standing and talking, and upon nearing them overhear part of their conversation. "... so we need to find out what's happening over there. If something is driving them out of the Marsh we need to find out why so that we're able to put a stop to it. If they continue to flock into Raptor Valley the land and water will become so polluted that it'll take decades, heck, even longer, for the area to recover. Are you with me?" Hearing the others agree to this ranger's plan, you mull over the possibility of joining them seeing as they seem to have the same idea as you, but at the same time you're considering that it may be faster to travel alone. A sharp, quick, bark snaps you back to attention, and looking at Tessie you find her looking back at you curiously, wanting to know what you'd like to do...

Hearing the others agree to this ranger's plan, you mull over the possibility of joining them seeing as they seem to have the same idea as you, but at the same time you're considering that it may be faster to travel alone. A sharp, quick, bark snaps you back to attention, and looking at Tessie you find her looking back at you curiously, wanting to know what you'd like to do...
Glad to see the Scyther in safe hands, Joshua continued to look around at the surrounding devastation. "If I were religious, I'd wonder if the Horseman of Disease was strutting around somewhere," he muttered under his breath.

Words floated through the air, reaching his ears. Something about something being driven out of the marsh clicked in his mind, and Joshua wondered whether he should talk to the rangers. Travelling in a large group would be safer, but travelling solo would be quicker.

After a few moments of thought, a wry smile appeared on his face. "Since when have I played it safe?" Joshua muttered, readying himself to ride to the Marsh, Tessie and Hayley ready to travel with their trainer. Beau, however, seemed exhausted, and Joshua wrapped his arms around the steel mantis. "Well done Beau, now rest up," he said, returning the Scizor to his Pokeball, before throwing one leg over his Mach Bike, ready to ride.

Re: Raptor Island

"What do I have to do?"

Stephen stares off into the distance, with a large bridge reaching the horizon. Just barely visible at the end of the bridge, a lush green island rises from the crystal blue waters. While Stephen can't help but wonder what sort of mystical Pokemon reside on the far off island, his immediate thoughts are set on the bridge there.

"I have to bicycle the entire way there?"

Complaining always was one of Stephen's specialties, and this is no exception. Sighing, Stephen decides that the ends will be more than suitable for the journey that he has to make to get to the elusive Raptor Island. Walking up to the booth set at the beginning of the bridge, Stephen digs through his pack, finding what he had been looking for. He pulls out the Bicycle Voucher which he had won, seemingly forever ago. Stephen hads the voucher to the attendant, who nods toward a row of bikes along the side of the building. He picks out what seems to be the best to him (though they all look identical) and begins to walk it toward the bridge.

Right in front of the bridge, Stephen stops, getting onto his bike and pulling out a map he had received a bit earlier, showing the regions of Raptor Island. Thinking for a moment, Stephen realizes that there is no real area that he has to see. All of them interest him, some more than others. While the Tree of Light certainly is interesting to him, the caverns dealing with the three legendary beasts do as well, and Lake Eclipse and Starlight Stream seem pretty cool as well.

Thinking for a moment, Stephen's eyes finally reach the Alpha Center. Whispering to himself, Stephen remarks, "Well, I'm sure that I can take advantage of one of the jobs that they have for trainers there, it could definitely take me somewhere fun and exciting."

Sighing, Stephen folds and packs away the map, before beginning to pedal off over the bridge toward the mysterious Raptor Island.

Re: Raptor Island

Joshua: While travelling in a group may be the safest way to go, particularly since Raptor Island Rangers who are familiar with the territory are among those heading to the marsh, you've never really been one to play the caution card and so resolve to go it alone. Recalling Beau to his Pokéball, you mount your Mach Bike and pedal out of Raptor Valley at breakneck speed with Tessie racing alongside you. Luckily nobody really pays attention to your departure as there are more pressing issues at hand, and those who do notice you leaving just assume that you're heading back to the Alpha Centre for more supplies which makes things easier as there is nobody about to try and stop you from tackling the situation alone. Several minutes later thanks to the Mach Bike's speed, you've managed to cover a good few miles and find yourself back in Nectar Valley which is just a stone's throw away from the Noxious Marsh. You clearly remember the path of destruction that Wrath had found earlier and make your way over to the toxic sludge trail, noticing that the terrain is far from steady as it moves closer to the marsh. You mull over the idea of making your way over to the nearest Swap Stop in order to swap your Mach Bike for an Acro Bike which will be better suited to the area you're moving into when you notice some movement on the trail. Taking a closer look, you see two Grimer approaching. They seem to be afraid of something, and don't notice you standing there until they practically run into you. Startled, they immediately attack, one releasing a Poison Gas, and the other Mud-slap before making a break for it and careening along the trail as fast as they can in order to escape before you can hurt them...

S_M: Standing at the far end of Raptor Bridge, you gaze across the water at the island in the distance. Rumours abound regarding this island being a sanctuary for some of the rarer Pokémon in the land, and while you've heard that there is a chance of catching one here, you're more than happy just to see them. Not at all impressed with the distance you'll need to cover in order to cross the long bridge spanning over the water, you realise there's not much that can be done about it considering the heritage laws and the fact that this is where you'll need to pick up your first bicycle before arriving on the island itself. Walking over to the ticket booth, you hand in your SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher. The attendant smiles pleasantly, pointing you toward a row of Mach Bikes sitting under a shelter to the side of the booth.

While there are several areas that have attracted your interest you're not really sure which one to go to, but when a sign on a notice board outside of a large modern looking building named the "Alpha Centre" catches your attention, you can't help but mull over the possibilities.

Figuring this might be a good idea as one or more of the jobs available could lead you into an area you'd considered visiting, you hop off your Mach Bike and place it in the Bike Stand before entering the Alpha Centre's large glass doors.

Re: Raptor Island

OOC: I hope that none of this comes across as self updating =/

'Wow' was all the young woman stood at the foot of a long suspension bridge leading to a beautiful looking island thought. It was a long way to travel to get to this island but she knew it was going to be worth it. Stacey couldn't help the big smile that graced her lips, she was looking forward to this trip, it felt like an eternity since she had won the Bike Voucher on the Tidal Cruise and an ever longer eternity since she had a good adventure. She walked slowly over to the bridge looking past the booth with an inquistive looking person staring at her actions within. The sight was truely undescribable it would a nice change of pace to enjoy a little sightseeing.

Now she knew that she would have to cycle along the long winding cycle path to get to the main island, but thought of the long and hard journey only thrilled her more. It had been the longest time since she had even rode a bike, it would bring all those memories as a child riding through the winding hills of her town with her brother, good memories that she had long forgotten. It would be nice to remember the good times instead of the bad. She walked over to the booth chuckling at the strange look the attendant gave her as she approached. She handed in her Bike Voucher and received a set of items that she placed in her indigo satchel. Thanking the attendant she chose a sturdy looking bike and pulled it free from the rack. She tested its wheels satisfied that the tyre pressure was correct and wheeled it towards the bike path.

Looking behind her she coughed catching the attention of a small purple pokemon behind her. The Sableye looked away from the edge he was looking over and grinned running to catch up to her cackling at the attendant as he passed trying to scare them. Stacey shook her head smiling, she was glad that the two of them were going to adventure once again. She sat on the bike with one foot on the ground pulling out a map of the island. Impish leapt on to her shoulder trying to get a better view.

"Where do you think we should go?" she said talking for the first time whilst looking intently at the map. Impish seemed deep in though reading over the description of the areas ... did he even understand what they all said? Just as Stacey was about to speak Impish pointed a clawed finger at a point on the map ... which now had a hole in it. Stacey glared at him and he grinned back sheepishly. Where the hole was, once was Sobal's Tomb.

Stacey sighed, "We always head towards the dark dank places," she said with a small whine. "Its always the doom and gloom how much danger can we get in kinda places we choose ... how about we go somewhere pretty for a change," she said smiling sweetly at him. He huffed and shook his head no. "I like the sound of the Tree of Light, that sounds ... refreshing" Stacey said imagining what it must look like. Her Sableye whined making a terrible noise. "Ack enough with that sound!" she said claping a hand over his big mouth recoiling in disgust when she felt him lick her hand. "How about we let fate decide she said grinning, Rock, Paper, Scissor's you for it, if you win we go to Sobal's Tomb, if I win its the Tree of Light" Impish seemed to poinder this before nodding. Both held their hands out and shook them up and down three times before shooing their weapon. Impish's hand was out straight indicating paper whilst Stacey's hand was out with her two fingers pointed in the shape of scissors. Stacey whooped and Impish groaned burying his head in the crook of her neck.

"Oh don't be like that, we came here to have fun" she said and mumbled something about rocks and food into her neck. Stacey smiled, now they had sorted that out, the journey could begin.

"Hold on tight" she whispered to him as she pushed off the ground and pedalled hard moving the bike into a quick pace along the small bike path letting the wind throw her shoulder-length brown hair around. Impish had come out of her neck and gave a thrilled yell as they whooshed along heading towards the Tree of Light.

Joshua stands still for a moment, looking over the far from pleasant looking terrain. His eyes travel up and down the Mach Bike, before he shakes his head, realising it's not going to be a smart idea to use it over such terrain. His eyes then travel past the bike, to Tessie, as she sits there panting, her eyes showing intrigue, curiosity and worry.

"For those Grimer to be running, something devastating must be beyond there," Joshua spoke, directing his words to Tessie. "In such poisonous land, Tessie dear, I'm afraid I can't risk you until I need you." The Arcanine nodded sadly, and Joshua recalled her to her Pokeball. Reaching for a different one, a burst of red light saw Arren the Crobat emerge, hovering in front of Joshua.

"Arren, something seems to be happening to this land, something deadly and poisonous. You and I are going to investigate," Joshua pulled out his map at this point, "right after I find the nearest Swap Stop. I'm gonna need an Acro Bike for this."

Deciding to put off the whining at least temporarily, Stephen accepts the bike from the attendant and waits as the concrete gate opens, before pedalling off onto the bridge. A pleasant breeze washes over him, and Stephen soon realizes that the ride is nowhere as near as bad as he'd thought it would be. After what seems like only a few moments, Stephen reaches the other side of the enormous bridge. Once he arrives there, he checks into the stand by the gate. The attendant gives him an Explorer Kit, a map, a Raptor Ball, and a Treasure Sack, and Stephen thanks her as he walks away.

Pondering what to do next, Stephen's eyes are attracted to a large, modern looking building with the title "Alpha Center" inscribed into it. A sign in the window reads "Help Wanted," and Stephen decides to check out the possibilites. Walking through the glass doors, Stephen can't help but be impressed by the room. Seeming to be modelled after the island, the room is painted with shades of white and forest green, with exotic plants spread throughout. An entire corner seems to have been turned into a mini-jungle, and Stephen sees three brightly colored Chatot residing in the trees. Pondering teaching them some 'colorful' words to give the workers something to deal with, Stephen decides against it (for now) and walks over to a large noticeboard, sporting several different advertisements for jobs that the center would provide.

Looking them over, none of them immediately catch Stephen's attention. However, they all seem to be interesting in their own ways, and Stephen finds the decision to be rather tough. Glancing them over again, Stephen realizes that three of the four jobs deal with riding with care or with gentle equipment. Remembering his lack of coordination, Stephen decides to take the last job. Pulling the sign that reads "The Underground" from the noticeboard, Stephen walks over to the front desk, handing the attendant the paper and saying, "I'd like to fill this position, please."

Arc_Angel: Standing at the far end of Raptor Bridge, you gaze across the water at the island in the distance. Rumours say this island is a sanctuary for some of the rarer Pokémon in the land, and that there is a chance of catching one here if you're ever lucky enough to be allowed past the entry gate. Impish is gazing over the railing, staring into the water below while you head over to the ticket booth and exchange your SS Tidal Bicycle Voucher for the Mach Bike that will take you across the bridge and onto the island. After waiting for you to choose one, the attendant presses a button which opens the sliding gate blocking off the entrance to the long, concrete bridge spanning across the water. Taking a few minutes to check over the bike, you draw Imp's attention, and he races over, eager to get started on a new adventure. Consulting a map of Raptor Island, the two of you debate over where you'd like to go before you finally win out and choose to head toward the Tree of Light upon entering the island.

On a day like today, with a clear blue sky and the sun shining brightly, a light sea breeze washes past you as you ride across the bridge making your trip to the island a pleasant one. There is a sign attached to the notice board outside, so you take a few steps closer to read it.

HELP WANTED!
Enquire within for job descriptions.

A job may be interesting, particularly if it takes you in the direction you're already headed. But then again, it could lead you in a completely different direction and right away from the Tree of Light. Taking a quick look can't hurt, and if something interesting catches your eye then it may be worth considering, but looking doesn't mean that you need to accept one. Mulling over the decision, you wonder if you should continue on toward the Tree of Light or perhaps step indoors for a few minutes to see what kind of jobs are on offer...

Joshua: Feeling that the kind of territory you're heading into is definitely detrimental to Tessie's health, you apologise to her, explaining your concerns, before recalling her to her Pokéball and replacing her with Crobat. Though it's possible for him to fly you into the Noxious Marsh, there will still be times you'll need to trek through the area on foot and so you consult your map, looking for the nearest swap stop. Luckily it's not very far away, so five minutes later you arrive at the small bicycle shack only to find it unattended. This in itself isn't all too surprising considering the chaos unfolding in Raptor Valley, so you take it upon yourself to exchange your speedy blue Mach Bike for the more versatile red Acro Bike. Underway within moments, the difference between the smooth handling of the Mach Bike in comparison to the lighter frame of the Acro Bike becomes apparent immediately. It's definitely nowhere near as fast, but it's manoeuverability is definitely far superior. A short while later you're back where you started. Arren flies ahead of you, scouting for any signs of danger, while you make your own way through the marsh surprised by the damage to the area. Even though the Noxious Marsh already has naturally high levels of pollution, which has resulted in the plant life adapting to their surroundings, everything is wilting which shows that something disturbing is going on here which has increased the toxicity in the area quite dramatically. Suddenly Arren stops moving forward, turning around and flying back to you, warning you to stop. Trusting in your Pokémon's instincts, you come to a halt, careful not to touch your foot down on any suspicious looking patches of soil. Listening intently, you hear voices coming from nearby.

"They're gunna find us! We have to clear out before they discover what we're doing!" says a panicked, whiny male voice.

"Don't be stupid!" berates the deep, no-nonsense tone of his male companion. "They're too busy cleaning up the mess to be thinking about what's causing it. We have plenty of time to complete the experiments."

"But..." continues the first, meekly attempting to reject the argument.

"No buts!" the other interrupts, his menacing tone sending a shiver up your spine. "Round up as many as you can that haven't yet fled the area, and get back to the lab!"

"Yes sir," the first man replies, dejectedly.

You then hear footsteps slushing through the swamp, one pair heading away from you, and the other toward you...

S_M: Mulling over the job opportunities and taking note of the fact that three of the four jobs involve handling delicate items or equipment, you decide upon the only one that doesn't require you needing to take special care and pluck the notice for The Underground position from the board. Heading over to the Reception Desk you state that you'd like to fill the position. The receptionist, a girl of about eighteen, smiles sweetly, thanking you for offering your services before pointing toward the lifts and informing you the Underground Research Facility is located in the basement. Thanking her, you head over to the elevators, pressing the "B" button. A minute later you emerge from the lift into a large, dimly lit room. Rows upon rows of shelves line the walls, all of them overflowing with papers, boxes, ore and mineral samples, and many other strange items, some of which you recognise, but most that you don't. Tables are scattered throughout the room as well, each one having scientific equipment as well as items and research notes piled high upon them. Sitting at one of the tables is a man wearing a white coat. His bald head is your first point of reference as he's currently bent over a microscope, completely engrossed in whatever he's studying. After coughing to attract his attention, he looks up, his startled blue eyes magnified what appears to be three times their normal size thanks to the thick spectacles he's wearing. He has a pot belly, and graying, wild hair growing from the sides of his head, and appears to be in his late fifties.

"Oh hello!" he says excitedly upon noticing your presence. "I'm so sorry I didn't see you there! How may I help you?"

Explaining that you're here to fill the job position for delivery of a Pokéball to Professor Grant in Epsilon Centre's Underground, the man beams brightly.

"That's wonderful!" he exclaims. "Not a moment too soon, either! If nobody volunteered for the position today, I was going to deliver it myself this very night!"

He reaches into his pocket, seemingly a little confused by the fact that whatever he's looking for isn't there.

"Oh yes, it's in the safe," he says absentmindedly, walking over to an old and battered, yet hardy looking steel safe located on the far wall. Reaching down, he turns the combination lock clockwise, anticlockwise, and then clockwise again, before pulling the heavy door open and reaching inside to remove a single Pokéball. Turning back to you, he walks over and hands it to you. "Be careful with this, son, and whatever you do, don't release the Pokémon inside under any circumstances. Professor Grant will know what to do with it."

Suddenly realising he'd forgotten to introduce himself, he smiles apologetically. "I'm Professor Gordon," he says by way of introduction. "What brings you to Raptor Island, son?" he asks, seeming genuinely interested in hearing your response...

Once ashore, you reach a tourist stall where the attendant hands you an Explorer Kit, Treasure Sack, and one Raptor Ball which she explains can be used to capture a Pokémon on the island. After putting your items away your attention is drawn to a large modern looking building named the "Alpha Centre" standing nearby.

Stacey felt a rush like nothing before, there was nothing like riding a bike that was for sure. She whizzed along the bike path at nearly a dangerous pace but not really caring. Impish didn't seem to mind either as he was crying out with excitement and trying to stand on her shoulders to look over her head. She felt him dig his claws into her shoulders and grimaced silently cursing him before concentrating back on the path for fear of losing control of their bike. They had already cross halfway before she knew it and the island came closer into view. It looked even more beautiful the closer it got and she couldn't wait to begin exploring.

She sighed as she felt the wind whip her hair around and cool her heated skin. 'This was the kind of adventure she wanted', she thought as she took her feet off the bike's peddals letting its momentum carry them forward. This bike ride was actually quite relazxing despite Impish's continued movements behind her. It didn't take long to finish off the last 5 miles of the bike path and Stacey pulled the bike to skidding halt in front of a Tourist Stall, chuckling as she felt Impy nearly fall off her shoulders in surprise. The woman inside smiled at the young ghost trainer and handed her an Explorer Kit, Treasure Sack and Raptor Ball. Stacey thanked her and placed all the items inside her satchel, well all but the Treasure Sack as Impy had decided to put it on his head and make scary noises from within causing her to laugh out loud.

Looking around her attention was suddenly drawn to a tall modern looking building. Dismounting her bike and pushing it over to the building she looked down at a sign that was posted on a notice board just outside. It was asking for help and to enquire within if interested. To be honest Stacey was just looking to relax more than anything that take on a job, but the samaritan in her was urging her to at least take a look. Impy, sack on head and all was sat on her shoulder poking her impatiently, wanting to get back on the bike and ride on to the Tree of Light; since they couldn't go where he wanted to go.

"Maybe we should take a look inside," she said and Impish made a whining noise and pouted. "Okay, how about this, we'll take a look inside and if there are no jobs headed towards the Tree of Light we'll just leave and carry on there ourselves ... okay?" she asked, not really wanting to be sidetracked from their destination. Impish lessened the pout and sighed knowing that she had made her mind up anyway.

"Come on grumpy" Stacey said chuckling whilst moving to go inside the Alpha Centre.

Eavesdropping on the conversation with Arren, Joshua's hands grip tightly on the handlebars of his Acro Bike. From what Joshua could understand, the two conversing had something to do with what was going on around here, and they were collecting... something. Joshua's mind instantly flashed back to the fleeing Grimer, and it dawned on him...

"They're hunting Pokemon... like common beasts..." Joshua growled, his fury rising with each word. Arren looked at his trainer with worry as his face contorted with rage, his eyes flickering gold, then blue, then back to gold.

Immediately grabbing his Pokedex, Joshua made a mental apology to Tessie and Hayley, before switching around his Pokemon. With Arren hovering overhead, Joshua hurled two Pokeballs into the air, watching as his newly swapped Pokemon emerged.

Two curled horns swept back from her skull, skeletal fashions decorating her body. Fur as black as night adorned her graceful form, and her eyes spoke of fire and darkness. Kenzie the Houndoom looked up at her trainer, her eyes filling with worry when she saw the look in her trainer's eyes.

Shiny red armour stood out in the toxic marsh, gleaming sharp claws clicking in anticipation. Wings buzzed swiftly in the air, almost invisible, and his body was mantis-like in shape. Beau the Scizor looked around at his surroundings, before looking to his trainer. His thoughts flickered from the injured Scyther to his trainer's current expression.

"Beau, Kenzie, we don't have much time. Someone is coming towards us, someone involved in something that seems to be destroying this place, and possibly injuring innocent Pokemon. No more playing nice anymore, I've had it. Beau, when he comes into view, grab him. You've got guillotine-like claws, wrap one around his throat. Draw a little blood to show him we're serious."

"Kenzie, growl menacingly at him while Beau's got him. I'm not going to stop until we find out what the hell is going on here." Both Pokemon exchanged shocked looks, before nodding sadly in agreeance. Joshua was tensed up, ready to jump the guy if he got away from Beau. He was going to demand what the hell was happening, and he had a hellhound, a guillotine insect and a vampiric bat handy to help with intimidation.

Stephen walks up to the receptionist, who directs him to the basement of the research facility. Thanking her, Stephen walks over to the elevator, walking in and pressing the "B" button as the doors slide into place in front of him. A few moments later, the doors slide open, and Stephen steps out into a dimly lit room with shelves lining the walls, overflowing with different samples and books. Tables holding scientific equipment and research notes are spread throughout the room, and at one sits a man in a white lap coat. The man, beginning to bald, is bent over a microscope, examining a sample. Stephen coughs to attract his attention, and the man looks up, startled, his eyes magnified several times thanks to his thick glasses. The man, appearing to be in his late fifties, has a pot belly and wild graying hair. A crazy scientist... Stephen muses as the man begins to speak.

The man asks why Stephen was there, and Stephen replies about the job position to deliver the Pokeball. Smiling brightly as he listens to Stephen's response, he states that he was actually planning to deliver the Pokeball himself if no one took the position by night.

The man then reaches into his pocket, a look of confusion coming across his face as what he's looking for doesn't appear to be there. He then says, "Oh yes, it's in the safe," before walking over to an old looking, battered yet hardy safe. He turns the dial several times before pulling back the heavy door and reaching inside, pulling out the Pokeball. He hands the ball to Stephen, saying, "Be careful with this, son, and whatever you do, don't release the Pokémon inside under any circumstances. Professor Grant will know what to do with it."

Stephen nods as he places the ball in his jean's pocket, making sure not to accidentally release it. The scientist then begins to speak, saying "I'm Professor Gordon," introducing himself, "What brings you to Raptor Island, son?"

Taken aback by the apparent genuine interest in his story, Stephen takes a few moments to begin speaking. "Well," he begins uncertainly, "I won a Bike Voucher in a contest on a Cruise ship. The idea of a nature preserve, free from human reach and from the destruction of natural habitat that had destroyed so much of the natural habitat of Pokemon. Well, after I got here, I really didn't have any place in mind to go to, so I came to the research station to try to find something to make my mind up for me. So one thing led to another, and I found the job description posted, and here I am."

Stephen finished rather abruptly, not quite sure what else he could say, though not wanting to seem rude and simply leave. "Um...so what exactly do you do here, at the research station?"
