I think all I had when I first hit the zones myself were Koffing and Tentacool. And Dave, if memory serves, all he took with him to the Arcane Realm was his Remoraid. And he went to the desert area of the Arcane Realm. And I read his AR adventure, and it was amazing.
Basically, if you'd feel better with a third Pokémon before going into a zone, go right ahead, but by no means is it a necessity. |

You could go into the zones with just your starter. Your updater isn't going to throw challenges at you that you aren't prepared for in some way.
If you'd like a third Pokemon for whatever reason before adventuring, go for it; otherwise, dive right in! |

{[CLAW-SNAPPING INTENSIFIES]} Though admittedly I've got squads of six planned for all the other zones I go to. But then nearly 50 'mon.

ngl I am very envious of Dave's adventure. But then again my adventure is great in it's own way and was a learning experience for me! I learned never to let an edgy 16/17 year old near an RP site :P
But yeah go in with as many pokemon as you want dood. I went into the AR with only my Panpour~

>Arcane Realm
My own AR adventure was pretty enjoyable. Involved a clan of ninjas who use Poison-types, and a Tentacool that was way more than she initially appeared to be. Initially only had Myrtle on hand in there, but eventually, if memory serves, my team in there wound up including... *Myrtle (my Banette; then a Shuppet) *Hedwig (my Crobat) *Strychnine (my Muk) *James (my Vileplume) *Gold (my Feraligatr; then a Totodile; evolved into Croconaw during the adventure) *Pomona (my Ivysaur) |

When I started out I had nothing but a Ralts and I brought him and nothing else with me to Cortoza, Phantom Isle, Arcane Realm and Cascadia. Only in the case of the latter did I bring a Magnemite and Zubat (with permission of MZ). I don't think my updators minded too much, I hope.
So you can go into a zone with two of your mon or wait until you have a full team of six, whichever you'd personally prefer and feel comfortable RP'ING with.

Personally since Ricardo is new, even if I have more than enough to fill out a team, I'm trying to limit myself to only bringing one or two Pokemon into zones, purely for character reasons. I'd feel uncomfortable him having just set out and suddenly thrusting 6 Pokemon into everything.

I tend to stick to using pairs of active Pokemon when it comes to adventures, mostly because I like establishing relationship dynamics between each of my Pokemon, not just them and my trainer.

Thanks for the advice y'all. I think I'm gonna try and head into the AR later today, if all goes well.
Just to clear up a little confusion on my end, can Pokemon currently in my active party in a zone be used in shop?

I pmed Tess about that. 4 weeks of no update, then they are fair use inside shops. Though, you can apply TMs at any time

Okay. Let's say I get updated after six weeks. Would I have to wait another four weeks to use them in the shops again? Also, you said TMs are fair game at any point. Would I be able to use those TMs in the zone if I learn them post entering, or would I not be able to access them until I leave?

And a big welcome to Mespritchaser to FB!
Gosh, at this rate we'll be wondering where all the zones have gone. Which actually begs an interesting question... Surprise, surprise! A new zone is in the works*! But what sort of zone would you be interested in, thematically? *not really, but it could be a thing given UPN only has one, two if you count the AR. I'm pretty interested in a concept that's been around in recent games: a metropolitan zone. Considering how big Castelia and Lumiose are, and how big real cities are, I'm actually a bit surprised that a massive metropolis isn't actually a stand-alone zone. Sure, we've had city areas such as Salin City in Cascadia and Seaside City on Whale Island, but no proper city zone. There's mounds of creativity as well, with residential, downtown, industrial, campuses and suburbia, as well as what lies below in the sewers or underground, and even railways and ruins. Pokemon will also vary greatly, from poison types in the sewers and industry, Steel types in the same industrial area, classic urban and pet pokemon in the residential, and maybe some dark types in the more run down areas. To me, a metropolis zone is a great idea that hasn't been implemented, but those are merely my thoughts. |

I set lilbluecorsola's short-lived FFA adventure inside a city. I think cities offer lots of opportunities both for the updater and for the updatee. You've got marketplaces, you've got residential areas, you've got police, you've got crime, you've got all manner of things that one expects to find in a city. The player needn't necessarily stay put in the city (the plan with lilblue was that she'd head out of the city eventually), but I think a city zone for players who want to stay in the city the entire time could be pretty good.

I would actually quite like a new area on UPN. An urban area complete with city subsections would be something different from the zones already in play. They'd be bigger and greater in detail I'm guessing. Would this be like FB's city centre?

A city zone would be great! Been wondering about that for a while.

I'm always a fan of steampunk aesthetic, so having some sort of steampunk city would be sick.

Cascadia's also in BMGf, which Tess and the rest of the FB staff have been having trouble with in regards to permissions, meaning that newcomers ain't stepping foot there.

That reminds me, today is Easter Friday, also known as Black Friday. It’s the day on which a large group of people commemorate the death of Jesus for today is the anniversary of the murder of the Bible’s protagonist. I’ve never been a very religious person and I find the idea of celebrating someone’s death rather macabre but I suppose it’s tradition and meant to honour the person in their memory.
Plus we get the day off. ….. Speaking of black, death, macabre and murdering protagonists; the first batch of Phantom Isle updates are in! I’m going to have to draw a cap at what I can handle and right now I’m placing it at 10. That means there’s 2 spots left for people in need of an adventure. For those of you who have had a previous adventure that was ongoing for a while: I want to remind you that I’m willing to continue that adventure within reason. (I’m not going to pick up adventures that were three updates in for eg.) EDIT: Spot has been claimed for old adventure. Only two are left.

I love the idea of more urban locations. I was hoping way back when I was updating hoards of people in WI I could eventually request a few changes to the zone, including a more futuristic city setting than the current option (Seaside City) – going off of the zone’s electric-type theme.
