“That… that was a phenomenal display,” Rorik was forced to admit. “An admirable effort. Congratulations, Munchlax.” He kept his tone reserved; the last thing he needed was for the silly bear to grow boisterous and overconfident… Munchlax, in turn, seemed rather disappointed with the outcome – as if he’d expected to do even better. Where is that drive coming from? Was it Gottfried’s training?... He forgot it more often than he should – he’d received Munchlax as a parting gift from the Champion of Heiml. Before Rorik was his Trainer, the bear had belonged to the greatest Trainer in the history of his nation… Personal successes aside, something was even more unbelievable: at the end of it all, Team Lilligant had won! Sure, Rorik’s contribution to that outcome amounted to very little, all things considered; the true hero of the War of Roses had been Alex Blackhall – it just so happened they were on the same team. “C-Congratulations… an awe-inspiring display,” stammered Rorik once he finally gathered the courage to approach the vastly superior Trainer and his Aipom. “You should be p-proud of yourselves!” By his side, Munchlax nodded happily, before throwing a thumbs-up sign at the nimble monkey. Rorik smiled; it was rare to see the bear excited over someone else’s success. Perhaps he was not only growing in strength, but in maturity as well... (Munchlax rose to Level 23!) Rorik took a deep breath, tired from all the excitement of the water balloon trial. He took off his glasses and began meticulously cleaning each lens – an old habit of his to relieve stress. I wonder if the Garden Rulers are satisfied, or if they’ll force us into more of their games…

Returning to the plains with some speed and sun behind them, he knew speed was of the essence in saving the Roselia and Tori, and as he spotted the rock tomb, he had ill feeling in his stomach. These feelings came to fruition as the group discovered one of the sides of the tomb had been toppled, and more concerning that something had been dragged over the grass, with a hole in the hedge giving no obvious clues. "Damn, this isn't good..." he muttered. "There's two possibilities regarding the missing Parasect. Either it broke through and hauled itself away, which I'm doubtful of given the thing was flipped...or it's not alone," reaching for another ball as Glasspine looked up at him with concern, the Sandshrew naturally worried for his friend. Releasing the occupant, the glow materialized into a vaguely insectoid shape, the purple beast stretching their segmented arms and tail as the Drapion shook herself from her rested status before turning to Alex. "Herex, the situation's serious. This rock pile here held a Parasect that's infected Tori with something nasty, and we've got until the sun sets to find it and keep it down long enough for this other guy here to make a remedy for her. I need you to take the lead as we head for that hedge there, and use your strength to push aside a path for us, as well as your body to deflect anything from pestering us. If a wild pokemon tries to get aggressive, give them a good roar to send then scurrying. Time's of the essence, the sooner we find the Parasect the better." Clacking her pincers, the scorpion agreed to the command, mild surprise etched on her features as she began to move for the gap in the hedge looking for a path or evidence of movement through it and beyond. |

One more update, all by its lonesome. :<
deoxys: With no time to think, Jotaro’s chivalrous nature propelled him into action. The plucky Lombre charged forward at the hungry Liepard, cocking back his fist as it began to glow softly. Fangs bared, the Liepard stared down at the mother Noctowl beneath its claws, ready to sink its teeth into its prey. As Jotaro neared, Liepard’s pointed ears twitched, detecting its approaching attacker, and it leapt off of its prey just as Jotaro’s fist glanced the side of it with a Drain Punch. Back arched, fangs glistening, and eyes shining in the darkness of the forest, Liepard arched its back and hissed angrily at Jotaro. The Lombre might have saved Noctowl’s life for now, but now he had gained the sole attention of a hungry predator that just had its meal taken away from it. Liepard’s hiss turned into a menacing Growl to show Jotaro that it means business. As the battle between these two Pokemon began to unfold, Hiero darted over to the baby Hoothoot’s side, securing the chick in his arms. He glanced over at the mother Noctowl, who was struggling to help herself off her back. It appeared as if her wing was lightly sprained in the strike, and was going to have trouble moving around enough to assist in this battle. Sizing Jotaro up, the Liepard hissed once more. This time, the tone of the hiss came in a much more condescending manner, almost as if it was Tormenting Jotaro into doubting certain battle strategies that he might take in the future. Up to this point, Jotaro had been operating on instinct, but this seed of doubt might require some of Hiero’s assistance pertaining to what he should do next.

With strong, sharp claws, your Drapion created a human-sized hole from the gap in the hedge. As she cleared away the well-trimmed bush, more and more of the path of the Parasect was revealed. The grass was flattened, and bits of dirt and gravel was pulled up to the surface. Petunia and Persimmon grimaced at the damage she had done to the hedge. “Er…that’s…well…” Persimmon started. He scratched his head, unable to find the right words. “You see, Roserade is in charge of this area,” Petunia addressed you. “And she likes her garden quite organized. Maybe we can try…. less destruction? At least until we’re out of Roserade’s zone.” “Yes, quite…” Persimmon adjusts his glasses, which you now notice have several fingerprints on the lenses. He turns to leave, already mumbling to himself about how many grams of this and that he will need for the antidote. He makes it about three or four steps until he remembers something, and turns on his heel. “Saliva! You need its saliva. About twenty milliliters. Best of luck, Alec!” The botanist turns again with a flourish of his lab coat, and scurries off. Petunia wishes you well, and lets you know she’ll make sure her and Persimmon are here waiting for you when you get back. She waves as you begin to follow the Parasect’s trail. Herex leads the way for you and Glasspine. The Sandshrew carefully studies the ground, picking up small flowers and pebbles in order to find any possible clues. For such an injured Pokemon, the Parasect has gone quite far. You and your Pokemon make your way through a more secluded area of the garden, passing by the occasional cluster of Budew and Roselia. They whisper as you pass. Perhaps they have heard of your recent efforts. You come upon another tall hedge, the drag marks lead into another, Parasect size hole. Heeding Petunia’s words, Herex reaches a long arm into the hole, and pushes away some branches as gently as she can. When she finishes, it is just large enough for both you and the four-foot tall Pokemon to crawl through. Glasspine goes through first, slipping through easily. You follow, avoiding getting your hair or clothes caught on the sharp thorns of the rose bush. As you reach the other side, you come across a much different sight. This area of the garden is much more overgrown, with flowers of all shapes and colors growing wildly. A pair of Petilil run by, chasing each other and giggling. You notice that the hedges seem to get taller and taller in the distance, becoming more and more maze-like. Ahead of you is a hedge that is partially trimmed, bright red and orange flowers dotting its top. In the bottom, right, you notice another patch of orange and red, though there are distinct white spots mixed among the red. If you weren’t mistaken, these flowers seemed to be moving. Herex, following directions, continues along the path of drag-marks on the ground, which leads away from the orange and red-and-white spotted flowers. ---------------------- Maskerade: Though your mind is now beyond baffingly boggled, you quickly seek the truth with the help of your Pokemon. While the Bunnelby were still in sight, Munchlax took a deep inhale to try to identify the scent of the Pokemon he had engaged with before. He thinks for a second, then yawns deeply. While rubbing its eyes with one paw, it holds up three claws with its other. This was no optical illusion, and Staryu seems to agree. Its gem flashes three times, concurring with its furry partner. “Munch…” Your Munchlax points lazily to the Bunnelby, and you watch as they continue to run. As if they were playing some kind of giant shell game, they all switch positions several times. Munchlax looks to you, then to the Bunnelby, briefly to a nearby berry tree, then again at you. With a large, heaving sigh, he realizes he is the only one that would be able to identify the correct Bunnelby of the three. Begrudgingly, he heads off in the direction of the bouncing Pokemon, and you and Staryu follow behind. You pass through the shrine, following the cloud of dust that the Bunnebly are kicking up in their scurry. They find cover with the rock formations that decorate the grounds and appear from behind different ones, causing you further confusion. You hope Munchlax doesn’t notice as you pass by a group of shrine visitors carrying a picnic basket. Your chase leads the three of you into a narrow pathway, surrounded by large boulders on each side. The Bunnelby are now single file, hopping as fast as ever. They are not too far ahead, and you could probably grab on to the closest one’s fluffy tail if you were determined enough. You keep up your pace, but notice that Munchlax is getting slower. The look on his face is getting more and more annoyed, and he starts to drag his round feet. ---------------------- Median Dia: Seeing an opening, Lousie rushed for the flag, ready to take the Carbink head on. Her Sludge Bomb splashed over the floating Jewel Pokemon, irritating it more than anything. As drops of purple slid down its rocky body, it Hardened itself to prepare for the incoming attack. Louise’s Iron Head sent the Carbink spinning, the super effective move hurting it badly. “Shishi, Sharpen yourself!” Madoka called to the Rock/Fairy Type. Carbink surrounded itself with a soft glow, and its rocky edges seemed to get more defined. “Smack Down!” The Carbink levitated a nearby rock, and sent it crashing down on top of Louise. Her hard, steel body withstood the hit, but the force of the attack pushed her away as she tried to grab for the flag. Carbink positioned itself in front of the flag once more, looking determined, but tired from Louise’s barrage of attacks. Realizing it needed a bit more defense, it prepared to Reflect any more physical attacks from your Pokemon. Miapladicus chased down the soaring Lunatone and Larvitar with concentrated streams of water, though found it difficult to aim. The first Water Gun missed the floating pair entirely, and Larvitar stuck its tongue out mockingly. The next was much closer, and Lunatone had to swerve to avoid getting splashed. Miapladicus concentrated itself and shot a final attack with all its strength. To your team’s delight, the move hit spot on, knocking Larivtar off of its perch and sending Lunatone down with it. Larvitar cried out in a tantrum, his fun ruined by the Staryu. Godzilla started to stand, but was put back in his place by a Vine Whip from Berue, coupled by a dense Powder that made the small Pokemon drowsy. Lunatone, able to levitate again, took its place back in the sky, wary of helping its fallen teammate. In the more secluded area of the playing field, Elenchos had removed himself from Lycanroc and planned his next moves. Lulu, relieved that she was no longer Constricted, readied herself against her tentacled opponent. Elenchos sent Psywaves in her direction, each wave varying in intensity. Lycanroc looked to be dodging, but instead positioned herself so that each move would hit her directly. She winced as the psychic moves struck her, but Elenchos could see that taunting smile forming once more. Letting out a triumphant cry, the Rock-type leapt towards your Inkay and struck him with Reversal. The pent up frustration from being constricted by Elenchos only increased the power of the move, and Elenchos was slammed into a small crater in the ground. While her opponent recovered from the move, Lulu ran off toward Madoka’s flag to be of assistance to Carbink once more. |

Meetan – Deciding that you may as well let the mothers rude comment go since she isn’t paying attention anyway, you continue to watch as the battle with her Furfrou continues. It didn’t take long to realize that Axel had become rather smitten with Duchess but thankfully he still came to your rescue in your time of need despite his feelings. After successfully capturing Minccino and thanking Axel for the good job he did, you decide it will be best to swap out which Pokemon are battling since he is clearly having a hard time with it right now.
Finally, Meredith’s mother looks up and sees the state that Duchess is in, with her slightly singed cheek and drooping fur hat with water dripping off of it. “What have you done to my Duchess!?! Do you even realize that she has an impeccable pedigree and has consistently won best in show for the past 3 years!? She is the embodiment of a perfect Furfrou in every way and you were so jealous that you ruined her beautifully styled fur!?” She is clearly furious now as she reaches into her coat and pulls out a fancy napkin. She then proceeds to open up the napkin and uses it to cover her hand in a way that will protect her fingers from touching the next thing she goes to touch. Now, with her napkin covered hand, she reaches into a large pocket on the front right side of her coat and pulls out a Full Restore. She holds it in the napkin with an uncomfortable look as if she feels it’s too dirty for her hands and then passes it to Meredith. ”I didn’t want to resort to this but go ahead and use this on Duchess, dear.” Her mother tried to hand it to her with the napkin but Meredith didn’t care about germs so she gladly just took the Full Restore in her hands without it. Then she trotted up to Duchess and sprayed her with the healing item a few times. “I hope you feel better, Duchess!” She says as she pats the Furfrou on her sopping wet head before going back over to her mother. It's clear that Duchess is feeling just as pumped as she was at the start of the battle, her fur is still in quite a mess but that doesn’t seem to bother her spirit. “Don’t you worry Duchess, we will have you groomed immediately after we get back home. Right now, take out that… THING!” The mother says while pointing a long flawlessly manicured finger at Peaches. The delay that was caused by them deciding to use a healing item gave Peaches a bit of a time advantage and so, she got to go in for a Volt Tackle before Duchess had time to do anything else. While covered in electricity she slams into Duchess who manages to brace herself a bit but it’s still clear she definitely felt that, the attack didn't manage to paralyze her though. She’s not the only one who felt it though, since Peaches also seems to be a bit injured from it as well, Peaches is beginning to look a bit worn down as she stands tall, breathing heavily. Duchess begins to kick a Sand Attack into Peaches eyes and Peaches proceeds to shoot off a Thunder Shock with her eyes closed as she rubs at the sand. The attack still manages to hit Duchess and it hurt but she still seems to have plenty of fight left. Duchess was watching Peaches closely this entire time and decides that her ability may be useful so she uses Role Play in order to copy it. Duchess’ ability has now changed to Static and she now waits and watches carefully for Peaches next move. At the same time as all of that has been going down, you’ve also been trying to solve the Wishiwashi situation. You bend down and talk to Simon in a sweet voice as the teacher watches with fascination. Simon listens and looks hesitant while he thinks over what you said. He is very happy with his “catch” and doesn’t want to just let it go but in the end, he decides to listen and gently places the Wishiwashi back onto the ground. The second he completely let’s go, the Wishiwashi begins to flop and bounce away to the best of its ability. Seems it might be trying to go back home, it’s probably so done with this day at this point. “Hey, wait!” Simon begins to chase after the fish. “W-wait! Simon don’t wander off!” The teacher yells at him and chases after him leaving you alone with the rest of her 29 students and an annoying mother. |

War of the Roses Team Lilligant Petunia excitedly skips over to Team Elegant while holding three envelopes in her hand. “We’re in the lead!” She chuckles. “Congratulations Alex on getting first place in the first event! Rorik and Lucas, you also did great! It was so much fun watching everyone.” She gives everyone a big smile and begins to hand everyone a single envelope. “Well, it’s time for the next part of the event so I guess I should explain what you’re supposed to do with those envelopes, huh?” She cheerfully says before she begins to explain. “For this round, we will be having a scavenger hunt! As members of Team Elegant you will all be following clues and exploring Queen Lilligant’s domain. I got up extra early this morning in order to set this up so I’m very excited to see how all of you do! All you need to do is open up your envelopes whenever you’re ready and solve the riddle to find your first clue! It should be a piece of cake for you guys since you’re already in first! You can each bring along one Pokemon too.” She begins to walk away with a huge smile on her face while waving. “Oh! It’s a bit of a maze in there so be careful not to get lost!” Each of you look down at the white envelopes you are now holding in your hands. Deciding that it’s probably best not to waste any more time you all carefully open them and pull out the piece of paper inside. Each of you were given a piece of paper with different riddles written on them: Alex – I can be blown but I’m not a bubble, I drop but I’m not a tear. What am I? Lucas – From house to house I go, sometimes narrow, sometimes wide. And whether there’s rain or snow I always stay outside. What am I? Rorik – I am a purple flower that you might smell in the shower. What am I? Now that you have all read your hints, you each begin to walk into Queen Liligant’s domain as you attempt to solve your riddles… At first glance, Queen Lilligant’s area is made up of tall orderly hedges that have lilies of many different colors adorning the branches. There is a section where the hedges part which appears to be welcoming visitors to enter it in order to explore deeper within the domain. Beyond this opening, it becomes clear that this place isn’t as organized as it may have seemed from the outside, although, it is still just as beautiful. Beyond the entrance, the hedges split into several different footpaths and yet there are no signs that state which path goes where; this place is a maze and it’s easy to get lost if one isn’t careful. As visitors maneuver their way through the maze there are several different things that may be spotted along the way depending on which direction is taken. From the entrance, the walkway that leads to the right has bellflowers that line up on the ground next to the hedges along either side of a grassy path. Visitors who follow along this path will notice that the bellflowers will gradually change to allium and that the allium eventually changes to dwarf iris. This pattern continues with the flowers that line this walkway constantly changing but they all have one thing in common, and that is that they are all purple. This path continues for a while until it eventually winds around and connects to another area with random turns. The left path from the entrance is paved with concrete, it is well maintained with no cracks or weeds growing along the edges. This path leads to a clearing with a small water fountain that is decorated with a Petilil figure in the center. It’s not unusual to find Pokemon playing in the fountain at any given time during the day. From here the path splits two ways, the concrete paving continues to the right which leads to a small area of various different kinds of flowers grouped together decorating the ground. The path that is to the left of the fountain is covered in gravel and leads to a small gathering of trees, each tree has leaves with a different shade of green going from dark to light. The tree with the darkest leaves is in the center while the lighter shades surround it. The bark on the tree with the lightest leaves is a bit fragile and when looked at closely there are sharp pieces of wood sticking out as it chips away. The path that leads straight from the entrance is carefully paved with stones of all different sizes. This path eventually ends with two paths splitting off to the left and right. The stones continue to be laid out in both directions and posted on the wall is the first sign. “This is the path that leads to Queen Lilligant’s throne” The sign isn’t clear which path that would be since the path splits in two directions and when glancing down either way it is clear that both of these paths lead to even more separate paths but visitors who are lucky enough to choose the right direction will find themselves in the queen’s throne room. The throne room is a very large circular area with a beautiful flowerbed in the center where the queen usually resides. Surrounding that are smaller flower beds where Petilil surround her. However, if a wrong turn is made there are numerous other places visitors may end up. Please post your reply by August 12th. Please choose one Pokemon to bring with you for this event. After coming up with an answer to the riddle, state the answer in your response and which area you plan to explore. Team Bellossom Peony approaches Team Cute and gives you all a little curtsy then reaches into her designer coach purse pulling out three pink envelopes with a pretty ribbon wrapped around them to hold them together. As she undoes the ribbon she looks up at the three of you with a cute smile. “You all did great out there! I can’t wait to see how you all do this round!” After separating them she hands each of you your own individual envelope, now that they are in your hands you can smell the scent of strawberries emanating from them. “Alright, so this is round two and I’m supposed to explain what it is you’re supposed to be doing! This round is a scavenger hunt where all of you cuties are going to be exploring Queen Bellossom’s domain in order to find… Well, you’ll find out! I skipped movie night with my friends in order to set this up last night but I think it’s going to be worth it when I get to watch all of you enjoy yourselves! Just remember, have fun above everything else! Those envelopes have your first clues inside of them so you can all go ahead and open them whenever you want and head on in! You can each bring one Pokemon along with you too. Good luck!” She gives you all a wink and flips her hair as she turns around and walks away. Left with nothing but each other’s company and the strawberry scented pink envelopes in your hands you each decide to go ahead and open up your individual clues. Jessica – Ever changing though the eye can’t measure, concealed within are many treasures. Some find safety beneath its gate, while some may die beneath its weight. Hiero – I’m yellow but I’m not a banana, I can be over ten feet tall but I’m not a giraffe. What am I? Melissa – What falls on the water and never gets wet? Each of you read over your own riddles which have been printed on heart stationary and attempt to solve them as you make your way over to Queen Bellossom’s domain… Queen Bellossom’s area immediately stands out because of the brightly colored yellow sunflowers that carve out most of the walkways that make up her domain. The sunflowers part at the entrance where there is a cobblestone path that leads straight to a clearing with a couple of benches with small flowering trees that are on either side of them. The benches are on opposites sides from each other facing a very large flowerbed in the center that is filled with various popular flowers of all colors such as tulips, carnations, daisies, etc. It’s a nice place to sit and take a break for those that need rest. Surrounding this area are different walkways that are neatly lined with the sunflowers on either side and all of the paths have the cobblestone to walk on. They all look similar but there is a sign post in front of the central path with arrows pointing toward each of the paths. Queen Bellossom’s Throne Room Ahead Rock Garden —> <— Waterlily Display As guests make their way down the path to the right toward the rock garden, about half way down there is another clearing only much smaller than the entrance to the domain. This area has a single bench in the center with a small display of flowers along the back of it. The sunflowers that are lining the path are spaced apart a bit more here than they were on other parts of the path. Passing this area, after following the path the rest of the way is the rock garden. The first thing that stands out in this large space is the three-tier rock waterfall fountain that is decorated with purple ice plant blossoms and various shrubbery. To the right of the rock waterfall there is a small area of water surrounded by river rocks with a small bamboo fountain that has a calm and steady stream of water flowing through it, there is also a small Oddish statue next to the bamboo. From the entrance, if the path to the left is taken it leads straight to the waterlily display. There are clusters of flowerbeds on display as visitors make their way down the path. The area with the display is quite open with several pools of water in the ground that have lily pads, lotus flowers, and prickly waterlilies decorating the water. Occasionally, there will be Pokemon relaxing and floating on top of the lily pads. There are several vases of flowers that are placed on the ground randomly throughout the display in order to add more pops of color. In the back, there is a small gazebo where guests can get out of the sun and sit in the shade while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. If visitors follow the path straight from the entrance it will lead to Queen Bellossom’s throne room. This space is larger than the others and in the center, is a very large sunflower with a short stem. This sunflower is twice the size of all the other sunflowers in the garden and it is the throne in which Queen Bellossom sits upon. Circling the border of the room are multicolored hydrangea bushes and for every two bushes there is one Gloom standing tall and proud facing the center where their queen resides. The rest of the room surrounding the throne is filled with various flowers everywhere, making this the most colorful place in Queen Bellossom’s entire domain. The only areas that don’t have flowers in this room are the small grassy paths that have been created for guests to walk on and not disturb the flowers. Please post your reply by August 12th. Please choose one Pokemon to bring with you for this event. After coming up with an answer to the riddle, state the answer in your response and which area you plan to explore. War of the Roses A practiced and well-organized ruler, Roserade kept her area of the garden tidy. A particular Pokemon, she was aware if even a single hedge was trimmed too short, if a treasured rose was out of place, or if any of her loyal subjects was misbehaving. Only Poppy, a gardener with years of experience and an easygoing attitude, had been able to keep up with the Queen’s demands. Team Cool gathered in the center of Roserade’s kingdom for the beginning of the scavenger hunt, directed to search wherever they’d like, but try not to make any messes. Despite Roserade’s strict plans for her garden, she was more than welcoming to visitors In fact, it was designed with recreation and relaxation in mind. A majority of the area was laid out for the pleasure of guests. A sprawling, well-manicured lawn, was open for picnicking or the occasional game of Frisbee. The garden always had a pleasant scent and drew in all kinds of native Pokemon. Today, observers of the event had set up folding chairs to comfortably watch each team’s efforts. Short, flowering trees, offered some shade to small Pokemon and children alike. While waiting for the Scavenger Hunt to officially start, Team Cool’s attention is drawn to a waving cameraman. He points a heavy looking DSLR in their direction, snapping candid and posed photos of each participant and their Pokemon. Rangers were easy to spot in this section, handing out informational brochures with details about the Rose Garden. It was recommended that newcomers start with Roserade’s garden, not only for its easy to understand layout, but for its beauty as well. Beyond this section lay organized rows of several kinds of plants. Poppy enjoyed using these fields to grow all kinds of vegetables, which he often donated to Galea Town or interested trainers. “I reckon my Hondew crop was as big as your head, this year!” Poppy laughs as he engages with a young guest of the War of the Roses. A state-of-the-art irrigation system provided fresh spring water straight from the peaks of Mt. Zephyria. At least, that's what the signs in the garden indicated. These fields also held plenty of beautiful blooms, and it was known around the world that the Rose Garden was home to thousands of rare hybrids. Among the normal pansies, tulips, cosmos, and roses were striking, multicolored flowers growing strong. Each section of the fields was labeled, giving information on the types of flowers, where they hailed from, and a price for interested buyers. The gem of Roserade’s garden was of course her Red and Blue roses, matching the ones she proudly grew on her hands. These primary-colored flowers created a border around her section of the garden, and eventually lead to the Queen’s throne room. For those who had an appearance with the Queen, they would take a long, rose-petal lined path. The Queen’s court of Roselia stood posed, showing off their brilliant colors. Rumor had it that a uniquely colored Roselia had made its ranks among Roserade’s favorites. Roserade herself enjoyed sunbathing on her throne, Ingraining sturdy roots into the soil, making sure she was always at peak performance. Each day, her subjects offer up the most beautiful flowers for her to place in her crown. Today, she wore light pink and orange flowers, mixed in with sprigs of rosemary. Poppy leads Team Cool to the foot of Roserade’s throne, and the Queen acknowledges you silently. Poppy instructs each of you to sit in decorated lawn chairs, one for you and one for “Alright kiddos!” Poppy addresses you jovially. “Great job in the last round, I hope you all had fun. Now you’ll have a Scavenger Hunt.” He produces three envelopes with your name printed in a neat font. “Take your time looking around Roserade’s domain, and don’t leave any stones unturned! I typed up these riddles for you all, which will be your first clue.” Together, you open your envelopes and pull out a small slip of paper. Seiko’s paper reads: What flowers grow on faces? Sypher’s paper reads: What has rivers but no water, forests but no trees, and cities but no buildings? Drew’s paper reads: The sharp slim blade, that cuts the wind. “Although this old brain is as sharp as ever, I’m not allowed to give you any hints, so good luck out there!” Poppy laughs heartily and slaps his knee. He wishes you well as each of you start solving your riddles and identifying the corresponding clue in Roserade’s garden. Please post your reply by August 12th. Please choose one Pokemon to bring with you for this event. After coming up with an answer to the riddle, state the answer in your response and which area you plan to explore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tsareena’s garden was indeed a Unique experience for the Fizzby native. Nowhere else in the region could you see such exotic flora and fauna. The entire area had an Alolan flair, even down to the weather. A series of humidifiers and tropical plants, Persimmon’s own design, simulated the humid, rainforest-like climate Tsareena and her subjects were accustomed to. The members of Team Unique can already feel themselves sweating as they enter the lush jungle of a garden. Densely planted trees provide a thick canopy for Pokemon to hide and live in, and plenty of shade on the garden’s floor. CAUTION. FALLING BERRIES CAN CAUSE INJURY, CONCUSSION, AND EVEN FATALITIES. WATCH YOUR HEAD. Reads a metal, rather menacing sign. It is splattered with a rainbow of juices of several berries that this sign has fallen victim to. The ground is littered with decomposing leaves and berries, which several bug Pokemon have taken to snacking on. The many berry trees are drooping with ripened Maranga and Kee berries from Alola. Thick vines curl themselves around the trunks of trees, some looking more dangerous than others. Persimmon points out a species of island rose that he has been cultivating, and warns you not to touch it, citing ‘disastrous consequences’. Individually, you wonder why there isn’t a sign telling other guests the same thing. The center of Tsareena’s kingdom can be best described as an oasis. A shallow pool of sparkling water lies in a ring of soft sand. Tall trees and ferns thrive around the pool, bright yellow and orange berries hanging from their boughs. By peering into the water, one can see stones laid out in the shape of the deities of the Sun and Moon. A nearby stand offers fresh smoothies made from the fruit in the area. Today they are offering a “War of the Roses Special”, which advertises a mixture of Razz and Bluk berries with fresh Moo Moo milk yogurt. The stand also claims it is the only place in Fizzby where one can get a certain whipped frozen treat made out of Mago berries. There is a long line at this stand already, as visitors to the Garden prepare for the next round of the event. Some are even dressed the part, wearing sunglasses and Alolan button-up shirts. Patches of bright flowers such as hibiscus are protected with low fences made of dried bamboo. Several torches also line the area, though they are unlit during daylight hours. Stone steps lead from the oasis to Queen Tsareena’s throne room. The long-legged queen sits atop a woven chair, two Steenee servants at her side. With large palm fronds, they fan their queen in unison. The room is decorated with hollowed out shells of berries and nuts, painted in the likeness of the queen. The Queen has an eclectic taste, and some of these paintings were a bit more abstract than others. Persimmon leads you up the steps and instructs you to gather around Queen Tsareena. Her legs are crossed, and she is looking at each of you expectantly. “Hi folks,” Persimmon starts, adjusting the lopsided glasses on his face. “We’re in last place at the moment, but uh…. No need to fret, really. You look like a smart bunch…Let’s do this!” He lets out a nasally laugh, though you aren’t quite sure what is so funny. “Right so uh…what’s next is a hunt…” After some shuffling and quiet cursing, Persimmon retrieves three rather crumpled pieces of paper from the pocket of his lab coat. “Uh, Scavenger Hunt I mean. So… there’s riddles here and uh… just solve them and you should figure out what to do next.” He says passes out the papers to each of you. As you receive them, you realize the name on the paper isn’t yours. Persimmon doesn’t seem to notice as the three of you exchange the papers amongst yourselves. With the correct paper in hand, you unfold them and read the riddle printed in a messy scrawl. Elka’s paper reads: What kind of tree fits in your hand? Dichromatia’s paper reads: Warriors amongst the flower, they have a thrusting sword. Able and ready to use, to guard their golden hoard. Alice’s paper reads: I’m sometimes cut into rings, but I’m not a tree. “All the answers are somewhere here in Tsareena’s domain…. uh…I mean that’s how I planned it. So don’t go anywhere else… Oh yeah and if you smell a kind of jasmine-lavender combo that means the Brugmansia has bloomed…and that would be just awful for this season...” He trails off into a conversation with himself about poisonous flowers as each of you head off to solve your riddles. Please post your reply by August 12th. Please choose one Pokemon to bring with you for this event. After coming up with an answer to the riddle, state the answer in your response and which area you plan to explore. Last edited by morningstar; 08-05-2017 at 03:27 PM. |

Thankfully, Tsareena didn't seem to be particularly angry with her many failed antics. Then again, it was rather difficult to get a read on the queens' emotions most of the time, so she could still be seething on the inside. In any case, the queen took the last balloon burst of the game seemingly in stride, brushing the clear fluid off her face with barely a change in expression. And with that, the trainers' pokemon were recalled and the stage set for the next challenge. Maybe Chroma should be a bit more careful with her tactics from here on out. *Elenchos was elevated from Lv. 16 to Lv. 20!* *Elenchos learned Hypnosis!* Quote:
Not that any of that mattered quite yet. All of the trainers gathered here had the task of reclaiming Tsareena's glory and pulling her domain out of last place, so the matter of the second game was at hand. Persimmon passed all three of them a sheet of paper, each supposedly having a riddle on them. Problem was, Persimmon hadn't really bothered tying each girl's name to their face- or hair color, seeing as all of them were quite different in that regard. After handing the sheet labeled 'Alice' to its rightful owner and getting her own, she opened up... to find some serious scrawl. While Tsareena had that majestic air of regality and precision, her gardener was... quite the opposite in more ways than one. After a bit of quick decoding, Chroma deduced that the riddle had to do with floweres and called upon her one pokemon with any expertise on that subject. "Alright, Berue, I need your help with making sure I understand this riddle properly. It says here: 'warriors amongst the flower, they have a thrusting sword.' That last part is most likely referring to the pistil, right?" Berue nodded. "Okay, so the next part is: 'Able and ready to use, they guard their golden hoard.' That last part would be pollen, correct?" The tangrowth shook her head. "Nectar, then?" That got her another nod. "So we need to find a tropical flower with a sword-like pistil and a comparatively significant amount of nectar. Does honeysuckle grow in tropical regions?" Berue shrugged. "You don't know? Well, then, I guess we're going to have to check each type of flower here until we find something that fits the bill. We're going to need to be a bit careful, though- that Persimmon guy was muttering something about a poisonous flower being in bloom right now..." With that, the pair set off to find their target. This... was probably not going to end too well. |

It seems the Garden Rulers aren't satisfied just yet. They'll have us play their little games for as long as they want - and really, even if I wanted out, what could I possibly do to oppose them? They'd crush me outright... Resigned to his fate, and with just about everyone else seemingly happy to play along with the charade, the Heimlan Professor was left with no choice but to do keep doing his part. His only hope was that the Garden Rulers would settle their dispute sooner rather than later and just let everyone go on their merry way, but with that not happening any time soon, his only consolation was that these "trials" were at least non-violent. He stared at the piece of paper for a while, unable to fight back the smile that formed on his lips - the smug, self-satisfied grin of a man finally in control of his own situation. Because if there was one thing Rorik was damn good at, it was thinking. But Munchlax... not so much. He stared at his bear companion, his first and strongest. While a sense of respect toward it was starting to bloom within the Professor, he had to acknowledge Munchlax's limitations - he'd turned out to be a remarkable fighter and a resilient guardian, but his intellect wasn't quite as developed and his sense of smell, although prodigious, could only help so far. I know what the answer is, but I doubt he's ever even heard of it. He won't be able to track down something if he doesn't know what he's looking for or what it smells like... Rorik dropped to one knee and placed a hand on Munchlax's head. "You were remarkable indeed," he said earnestly, "but now it's time to let our other friend take the spotlight. Get some rest." The bear yawned and gave Rorik a thumbs-up before being recalled into his Luxury Ball. After that, a flash of light burst from a different PokéBall, and Staryu materialized in front of the Heimlan. "I need your help in this... maze," explained Rorik, while struggling not to say anything depreciative about the sorry, chaotic state of Lilligant's garden that seriously got on his nerves. "I'm looking for a purple flower with a very specific scent." Staryu, ever-expressionless, shifted its positioning slightly upon hearing Rorik's instructions. At this, the Professor smiled, realizing he was slowly starting to understand the mute starfish. "No need to be embarassed; leave the smelling to me," he clarified; naturally, he did not expect Staryu to track down scents, as that would be anatomically challenging at best. "I need you to use your Analytic skills to help me navegate the gardens without getting lost." He adjusted his glasses, then boldly - if uncharacteristically - marched towards the maze's entrance, Staryu following close behind. With its help, he located a corridor to the right lined with all manner of purple flowers, one beautiful species after another. "Right," he concluded in a whisper, more to himself than anyone else. "My mother used to force Erik and I to wash with that kind of soap... He quite liked the scent, as I recall; me, not so much. I never did understand why she insisted on using products made of a plant imported from southern regions - it's not like Heiml doesn't have its share of nice-smelling flowers, despite the harsh weather. Oh well... off to find me some lavender."

If gods exist, they must openly enjoy mocking me... It was away from the trees, back to Shrine, past the Shrine and into a narrow pathway lined by solid rock on both sides for them. Rorik, the one with the largest legs by a long shot, was able to keep up the pace despite his profound dislike for all manner of physical exertion; Staryu seemed more than capable of giving chase as well, seemingly unperturbed by the strain of the race (perhaps lacking a heart and lungs was beneficial in this context?), but Munchlax was, much like expected, lagging behind. He already did so much more than I’d asked him… He more than deserves a rest. Mid-run, Rorik reached for his belt and retrieved the empty Luxury Ball strapped to it. Almost dropping it, he finally managed to take aim and recall Munchlax, leaving the rest of the chase to him and Staryu. “S-Staryu, listen… listen up,” Rorik said as he struggled to breathe and talk at the same time, the pace of the run starting to overwhelm him. “T-try to s-swipe… oh gods… swipe them off their feet with….oh gods, I’m going to die… with a Rapid Spin!...” It was a long shot. The Bunnelby were inherently quicker on their feet than any human or starfish, and outrunning them wasn’t an option. But perhaps if Staryu spinned across the air like a saw blade, it could pick up enough speed to catch up to them and knock them off their feet all in a row! And if all else failed, there was one last resort he could, albeit begrudgingly, try to pull off: with a well-timed lunge, perhaps he could at least grab the last of the Bunnelby, before it irremediably outpaced Rorik for good. It would ruin his lab coat, and he’d only do it if Staryu’s Rapid Spin failed, but… it was better than losing all of them. The sacrifices I make for science…

After the bell, the Pokemon finally face off and Kei is pretty happy that he managed to get a hit in but was upset that the Mankey interrupted his dance. Knowing that the Mankey is clearly keeping its eye on him he knows he needs to think fast. Maybe if he manages to block the Mankey’s vision, it will help him avoid its attacks while he dances to pump himself up. With that in mind, Kei decides that for his next move he’s going to let off a Smokescreen and follow that up with another Dragon Dance in hopes that with this attempt, the smoke will buy him enough time to finish his dance. After that, knowing that he is going to have to get a couple good hits off, Kei decides that following up his dance with two Fire Punches to the face should show that Mankey that he means business. He is determined to defend that Stufful’s honor so he takes a deep breath and begins to put his plan into action.

"A full restore? Really? Tacky." The blonde complained. Still, she complimented Peach for a decent dent in the Furfrou's health and withdrew her again, making an exchange for a vibrantly coloured Lotad. It might have seemed an odd exchange given that the normal-type now had static for an ability, but Alice had her own set of items tucked away to sort out that issue, and Lorin's moves didn't require him to touch his opponent. "Okay, little dude, time to let loose! Icy wind, seed bomb and giga drain, let's go!" That was another thing. Lorin had enough healing capabilities to make this Furfrou's life a nightmare. She was getting tired of the battling now, but wasting that Furfrou and upsetting the mother was probably worth enduring for. Not to mention, Alice was now the most responsible adult left around all of these kids... Arceus wept. Quote:
The reminder of their placement stung, and she felt particularly guilty. Eridian the dragon was in a foul mood now, his pride bruised, hiding in his pink Love Ball to be sour for the rest of the tournament. Sure, they got one point, which had been better than some; but the blonde was aware of their queen's eyes on the bunch of them. She didn't want to disappoint the Pokemon they represented or let the team down. Far more than last place, Alice was determined to win, and she wished the gardener had more spirit than his stammering and barely relevant ramble. The trainer disguised her struggles behind an amicable smile. Honestly, luck wasn't on her side. Alice hated riddles, and she voiced as such to the bright pink Pineco that sat in her arms as she left the throne room. He was a pretty chill Pokemon, and one who enjoyed their current territory very much, taking in the mixture of smells and colours with joy. It was obvious the contender didn't know where to go at first, her steps slow and aimless as she bounced ideas back and forth with her buggy companion. Rings? Cut into rings? Well, Alice doubted that Hoopa or Mega/Z-Rings had to do with anything. Rings, but not a tree. She thought back to the precious stones of the throne room, and of how those kinds of things were usually shaped into rings, but more than that, the idea of 'berry' embedded itself firmly into Alice's brain. Rings. Something onion like? Or maybe pineapples-- pinap berry? The pinkan duo decided to run with those ideas, and see what they could find.

Said floret floated over to the one who had kicked her, rustling in frustration. However, to Steenee’s stunned surprise, she planted a smooch straight on the plant’s cheek rather than a smack, causing a pink tint to bloom on the pale creature’s countenance. The color quickly drained however as the succubus smirked and started to sap her unsuspecting victim’s lifeforce in order to restore her own. Cherrim spotted this and lifted her stem to the sky, summoning sunlight to drive the vampire away, in turn shedding her own cloak as floral wings spread. Wooing her partner back to her with her own gift of warmth. Steenee gladly accepted the sincere bouquet of rays, bolstered by both the sun and Cherrim’s cheerful beams. Spinning away from the poisonous predator, she unleashed a whirlwind of leaves at her unsuccessful suitor in a clear rejection of consent, sending the Comfey Casanova reeling back again. As the failed flirter flitted off, a few fronds found their way to Iris as well, although their flimsiness barely fazed her. Regardless, Iris had had enough of sitting back, and bestowed her own “present” upon the pair: a silver ring of string followed by gold, making sparks fly between them. Steenee seemed unimpressed by the rather… “sticky” situation though, and simply rolled her eyes, sarcastically suggesting they “play nice” instead with a sensual wink. (Jess hastily covered Lance’s own eyes, thinking things were getting a bit too steamy for the young bud’s innocence.) Comfey didn’t take kindly to the offer either though, swelling her proportions in heat to show she was serious about this. Now jealous of the other’s size, Cherrim enlarged himself as well in order to enhance his own “performance”. Feeling it was about to get messy, Iris immediately put up a wall of protection to prevent any harmful “status conditions”. (Safety first, as they say.) As Jess took stock of the circumstances, it seemed neither side had received much damage so far, although Comfey had suffered the worst. Still, things were heating up fast (in all manner of ways), and so she wanted to practice caution for Iri’s first time. (In combat, get your mind out of the gutter.) “Iri, show Steenee your own SWAGGER, followed by a FLASH to distract her. Then, go in for a BUG BITE.” (Since their ally had taken the lead by starting with just a kiss, may as well go all the way while the “prey” was vulnerable…)

Seiza drifted within its trainer's periphery, its axis tilted almost casually. "Speaking of which you did spectacular, Seiza," Seiko began, presenting a Pokeball before the Bronze Pokemon. "You earned yourself a break." *Seiza gained 3 Levels! Seiza rose to Level 8!* Quote:
Well, I'm being asked to locate a flower, that's for certain. Seiko's eyes scanned the kept, groomed hedges and pens of flowers, as every bit magnificent as they were innumerable. Seiko looked nervously at the Roserade queen, shaking her head and cupping her cheeks in her hands. Okay, what grows on a face? Roses definitely don't, so I suppose I can count the namesake of this place out. Seiko grumbled, irritated. She jammed her hand into her waist pouch, withdrew a Pokeball and threw it at her feet. "Go, Aiolia!" In an instant, the Litleo materialized, blinking once before jumping into her arms, unheeded. "Do you think you can help me, buddy? I need the nose and botanical know-how of one who grew up around flowers. Got any ideas what a flower that "grows on faces" might be?" The Litleo's expression turned stern as he covered his trainer's lips with his paws, silencing her. She tore free, incredulous. "Aiolia, what's gotten into you? I like a hands-on approach, yes, but I need my lips---" Seiko paused. Tulips! "Tulips!" the young woman exclaimed as she excitedly nuzzled the Little Cub. "Great thinking, Aiolia! Quick, to the flower fields!" |

"I think so," she told him, as she watched the Spinarak relocate and scare a Spearow out of the tree. Turning around, she spotted the boy responsible for at least two of the fires rolling around on the ground, attempting to pull the Poochyena off his pant leg. "Scyther! Get over here and get this thing off me!" Melissa scowled at his choice of words and didn't react fast enough to prevent the Scyther from attacking the Poochyena, knocking the canine loose. "Good job! Now keep it distracted with Fury Cutter!" The kid stood up and brushed himself off, looking over at Melissa and then the tree that had been on fire. "You have got to be kidding me! That was my last match!" Melissa couldn't help feeling satisfied at the frustration in his voice, though it was good to know that the matches she'd found were probably his. The boy then punched a tree, turned around, and took off running, once again trying to get away, while the Scyther prepared for battle. Melissa lowered Wildfire to the forest floor. "Wanna Pursue him? Make sure he doesn't start anything else? Try to be gentle, if you can." Melissa smiled wryly at her starter. "If you lose him, don't worry about it; just come back, okay?" Wildfire nodded and darted after the kid. Turning back to the battle, she nodded at the Scyther. "You wanna give battle a shot, Signal? Shouldn't be too bad, even if the Poochyena decides to go after the kid when we give it an opening." Signal blinked up at her, looked at the Scyther, and his antennae blinked 'uncertain'. "I can always call someone else out, if you need some backup." Signal took a deep breath, nodded, and padded forward, electricity sparking from his antennae. "Start off with Thunder Wave and follow up with Charge Beam. Try not to hit the Poochyena, though." Melissa didn't expect the battle to take too long, considering the type advantage, but she couldn't exactly account for what the Poochyena would do. Hopefully, it would go straight for the boy or, at least, wouldn't end up between Signal and the Scyther.

The forest soon closed around him, Jayson was told this was where he could find the first trial. Before that though he intended to do some training, it was still early in the morning and his Pokemon could use a work out. Selecting two Pokeballs from his belt, Jayson tosses them out in front of him to reveal two Bug types. Spartacus the Scyther gives his wings a quick beat, before having a few air swings with his scythes. The Scyther held a leadership role within Jayson's squad and he hoped that it would assist in training the newborn Skorupi. Trieu was only a new addition to the team but Jayson had quickly grown fond of the Skorupi. She was large for her species, something that Jayson hadn't anticipated. Trieu scurries towards the trainer, feigning a jab with her tail just to make sure her trainer was switched on. Luckily Jayson had already gotten used to the sassy Skorupi's tricks, he had lined the inside of his pants with some extra leather, just incase she decided to go for it. Now they just needed something to train on, or with....... "Spartacus do a quick scan of the area, see if you can find a wild Pokemon to draw into a fight. Give whatever you find a quick Vacuum Wave to get its attention before leading it back here. Trieu, you are then going to help Spartacus battle whatever we lure in." The plan was a little risky since they could certainly bite off more than they could chew, but Jayson was confident they would be able to handle just about any situation. |

Meetan – Meredith’s mother just rolls her eyes at you and then turns her attention toward Meredith. “This is exactly what I was talking about earlier. You just can’t get anything through to people like her.” She seemed to just ignore your comment once again but Duchess was now looking a bit dispirited after listening to what you had to say about her Pokemon. Then, after getting the final word in and letting Meredith’s mother know just how tacky she is, you compliment Peach for a job well done and then withdrew her to her ball.
Duchess is looking a bit uncomfortable as you release the brightly colored Lotad onto the field. It seems like she is also getting tired of battling and now that this is her third opponent she is beginning to realize that there may be no end in sight and becomes even more disheartened. However, she knows that she has a duty to listen to her master so she sighs before charging into battle mode once again and starting things off with a Sand Attack perfectly aimed at Lorin’s face. While attempting to shake the sand away Lorin releases an Icy Wind, the wind covers enough area that Lorin, fortunately, didn’t need to really see where he was aiming anyway because it was pretty hard to avoid. Duchess takes the hit, the wind is so cold that her wet fur hat is now frozen, fortunately for her, that’s the only thing that’s frozen and she can still move but now her movement is going to be a bit slower. Lorin is able to get his second attack off before Duchess has the chance to do anything and she begins to get bombarded with a Seed Bomb attack causing her to get repeatedly pelted in the face with the seeds despite Lorin’s lowered accuracy. While that is happening, the teacher and Simon both return and are both drenched head to toe with water. Simon is crying and the teacher looks worn down and her clothes are even torn in several places. You don’t see the Wishiwashi with them at all so there is no telling what happened out there. Duchess is starting to feel worn down and her lowered confidence isn’t helping her any. Lorin finally manages to shake most of the sand out of his eyes and the first thing he does is look right at Duchess who then winks at him. A heart circles Lorin before it pops and now he is finding himself very Attracted to Duchess all of a sudden. This attraction causes him to hesitate on his next move which gives Duchess the chance to charge up and slam into him with Frustration which does a surprising amount of damage. Lorin tumbles a few times and once he regains his bearings he is upset at his love for causing him such harm and this time doesn’t hesitate at all to suck the life out of her with Giga Drain. (Lorin gains 1 level) He recovers a good chunk of the health he had lost and Duchess is now clearly barely standing at this point. As usual, Meredith’s mother doesn’t seem to notice the state her Furfrou is in but if she does, there is a good chance she will be using another Full Restore. What will you do? -------------------- myahoo – You are repulsed by not only the boys actions but also his use of the word “thing” when referring to the Poochyena that was also one of his victims. Before you even have the chance to say anything the boy is doing the same thing he always does, running away. You want to try and avoid letting him get away since you know that he is causing an extremely dangerous environment in this forest so you decide it’s best to send Wildfire after him. After explaining the situation to Wildfire, you set him on the ground and he takes off on his mission to Pursue this kid. You turn your attention back to the battle as Scyther goes in with a Fury Cutter attack on the Poochyena. You encourage Signal, telling them that they can handle this battle and if needed, you’ll even send in backup. The Chinchou knows he can trust you so he decides to put in his best effort and after taking a deep breath begins to step forward into a battle stance. The slight delay, however, made it so that Scyther had already began hitting the Poochyena. Having already been completely worn down from whatever trauma it had previously encountered before meeting up with you, it is not able to fight back. It looks over at you and Chinchou before taking the last hit it can endure, the look seems to say that it is trusting you to do what it doesn’t have the strength to do at the moment. The final hit makes contact and now the Poochyena lays there completely knocked out from it. Looks like it's going to need a lot of rest in order to recover. Signal knows he can’t waste any more time and lets off his Thunder Wave just as the Scyther is attempting to run away in order to catch up with his trainer. It’s a perfect hit and Scyther’s attempt at escape is a failure. The paralysis has taken its hold on Scyther who is now unable to maintain any sort of speed that would even allow him to get away. Signal follows up with a Charge Beam which also hits the Scyther damaging him a bit, Signal also appears to have powered up for his next move. Scyther still appears to have a lot of stamina left but he’s not sure what he should be doing so he chooses not to attack while also shaking from the paralysis setting in occasionally. Suddenly, you hear an “Oomph!” sound from a distance that doesn’t sound like it’s too far away… Wildfire doesn’t have to chase the boy very far, his Pursuit is a success (Wildfire gains 1 level) and he managed to slam the boy to the ground preventing him from getting away. It was a little bit rougher than Wildfire had hoped but the kid deserved it anyway. “Quil quil!” You can clearly hear your Pokemon through the trees, sounds like his mission was a success. “Are you serious!? I’m done playing games with you!” You hear footsteps approaching and the boy emerges from between the trees and sees that you have clearly been trying to battle his Scyther. “You know what? Fine. It’s not like I have anything better to do now anyway.” He reaches into his backpack and pulls out a Paralyze Heal and sprays it all over his Scyther. Once his Scyther is cured he pulls a pokeball off of his belt and throws it, releasing a Palpitoad. “Scyther, Fucus your Energy and then Slash at that Chinchou twice! Papi, that thing attacked me earlier so use your Aqua Ring and then hit it with a Bubblebeam as pay back for what it did!” Seems like this kid is ready to actually battle for once and he doesn’t appear to be planning to run away, at least not yet. What will you do? Last edited by Patches; 08-11-2017 at 11:00 AM. |

"You deserve better, Dutchess. You honestly do. I'm so sorry. You're more than your trainer or her dumbass child could ever hope to be." Alice said to the Pokemon, and she hesitated. She could take out the Furfrou, but it would be easy, not satisfying. That woman would scream blue murder either way, and she quite frankly didn't need to sell Mimi regardless of the outcome. It spoke volumes how much damage that 'frustration' had done before, and it was the only time she had seen that attack used to such great effect. There were kids here. They didn't need to see this, but they had. Now was the perfect time to make an example of her. "You know what? No. We're done now. Lorin, you did really good. Come here, boy." The dual-type hesitated, immobilised by love, but his trainer crouched and cooed and eventually the derpy thing waddled over into open arms. "You were a really great opponent, Dutchess. I'm so sorry for messing up your fur. Here--" Alice dug through her bag. She procured a hairbrush, probably of a lesser standard than the Furfrou was used to, and a pouch stuffed to the brim with various pokeblocks and poffin which the blonde unzipped. "I'm not selling Mimi. You were the one who fought the battle and I don't know what you'd do with a baby mimic anyway." Alice teased the Pokemon, "Why don't you have some of these? Help yourself. We have plenty and they might help that fur stay in shape. Plus they're made with love! You wanna know what that tastes like?"

As the entertainment during the break died down, Alex checked the Aipom out, who seemed to have honed her skills to a degree he hadn't anticipated. Opting to give her some rest from the action, the Aipom was grateful for the recall, as Petunia approached the group and gave them envelopes before explaining the next task in the 'war' so to speak: a scavenger hunt. Opening the envelope, he discovered a riddle to solve as the woman explained the answers lay within Lilligant's domain. With the redhead scientist venturing down one path with his Munchlax and the blonde fellow he hadn't had much contact with venturing along another paved path, he looked over his riddle, before making a decision. Reaching for his belt, he sought his Sandshrew's ball, only to dislodge another ball "Whoops." The orb bounced, enlargened, and bounced again before releasing the occupant, which manifested before him as a silver ovoid with green spines jutting out the metallic body, and two seemingly vacant eyes. The Ferroseed gave a small spin on its axis before rumbling around on his side to a spot of softer soil and sinking into it before twisting round and looking up at Alex. "...we'll work on movement more, Pridwen. We've got a riddle of sorts to figure out...'can be blown, but not a bubble, can drop, but not a tear'..." he mused, thinking on what the solution could be as eyes gazed around. A metallic grumble from the Thorn Seed caught his attention as the steel pokemon whirled around and launched one of its spikes forward gently, the needle landing near one of the hedges, the tip on a decaying leaf. "Leaves? Not from a hedge, but tree leaves blow in the wind and drop off in the autumn when it gets colder...and there should be a small thicket of trees down the paved path somewhere, at the far left. You able to move from there, Prid?" Giving a twist, the mostly sessile pokemon rolled out of the small pit he made before slowly trundling behind Alex as he made his way down the lefthand path towards the trees, hoping the solution was indeed a deciduous leaf from one of the trees there. |

A high pitched squeal of surprised pain pierced through the night sky as Lulu's attack struck true and shattered the stone beneath the inkay. The Flail-like attack may not have been anywhere near full power, but the fact that it was now Super Effective against Elenchos was certainly enough to make up for it, much to his teammates' dismay. A few seconds passed as he groaned in agony, but no amount of pain in the world could change the fact that he had a job to do. Seeing that Louise seemed to have both of the defending pokemons' attention and he couldn't think of anything better to do, he crawled his way out of the crater and began to slink toward the flag as stealthily as he could. If he couldn't get back at the cheeky lupine in a direct confrontation, then stealing victory away from her was the next best thing! Louise cringed as the carbink's attack pushed her away from the goal. She had no idea what the flying crystal did to her, but she felt kinda heavy all of the sudden, almost as if all the magnetic repulsion she could muster wouldn't be able to lift her a whole inch off the ground... not that doing so would be particularly helpful against this foe. Said foe was certainly doing it's best to be as frustrating as possible, given that it was erecting a Reflective barrier as soon as she looked back up. Elen's shriek resounded through the battlefield at that time, followed by a flash of red headed her way. 'Ugh, that squid shouldn't have fallen so easily,' she grumbled as she tried to think of a way to make the situation more favorable for her. First things first, she'd have to deal with the lycanroc. She quickly fired off a string a Taunting words at Lulu, followed by a burst of Ancient Power. She then readied herself to unleash another Burst, this time of retaliatory Metal energy- someone was going to attack her, so she might as well make that work against them. It was easy enough to tell that things weren't going anywhere near as smoothly on the other side of the playing field, but Berue and Miapladicus weren't in clear yet. "Focus on what's going on over here!" Chroma called when the staryu attempted to leave and help the mawile and inkay, prompting it continue to fire Water at the lunatone like one of those slow turret Guns. It couldn't exactly do anything else, anyway. The tangrowth was not so limited in her options, however, and both she and Chroma knew it. "Berue, push it away from here with a combination of Ancient Power and Shock Wave! Let's try and see what Nature Power's like around her while you're at it!" Was that a bit of risk? Definitely, but they could afford to take those risks on this side. Probably. |

Julian grew from level 6 to level 9 Sypher tucked the ball into his pack and walked to meet with his group. They were then lead back into Roserade's garden to learn of their next task, a scavenger hunt. Sypher opened his envelope and read. Quote:

"Sorry, still concerned for my pokemon and finding that Parasect. Be careful with the plants, Herex," Alex returned to the Drapion, who nodded. She knew careful. With that, Petunia and Persimmon left to see to the antidote, until the botanist told Alex exactly what was required from the insect: Saliva, around twenty millilitres of the substance. Nodding as the pair left and he and his team ventured forth, Alex was thankful he kept an empty bottle at hand, usually for filling with drinking water. As it was, the container was empty, as he wondered how to obtain bug drool. Following the Parasect's trail, with the Sandshrew examining the scratched ground, the human examined the distance they had travelled. For something in such a battered state, it seems to have went quite far, as though it was on some sort of agenda of sorts...passing through, the trainer could note the cluster of Budew and Roselia dotted here and there, whispering. It wouldn't be remiss to assume that news of the Parasect attack had reached them and his skills at thwarting the plans. Further along, another hedge the bug passed through came into sight. "Careful there, try and push some of those branches away so I can squeeze through." With her toughened exoskeleton, the poison pokemon effortlessly and gently held back enough of a passage that Glasspine could pop through easily and Alex could scramble through. Taking it slowly to avoid the thorns of the rose bush, the other side of the hedge was most certainly in contrast to the previous garden. Overgrown bushes and plants wildly twisting and turning, a pair of playful Petilil in the distance. The hedges towered over them, and seemed to grow into what looked like a mazelike mess, while the hedge before them, speckled with flowers, had some distinct red and orange flowers beneath with white spots, which appeared to be moving. He couldn't be distracted with them, even if they were pokemon. The drag marks led away from the flowers, and he only had limited time to pursue the mushroom pokemon. However, as he and his pair began to move, he paused. The flowers were surely some sort of pokemon, perhaps they had seen the Parasect, but there was the likelihood said flower pokemon would be hostile. In any case, not investigating could have some serious consequences. If the flowers were indeed pokemon, then it would be prudent they would be grass types, and thus the best case for discussion would be the Drapion. "Herex, hold on one second. Could you have a closer look at those flowers there and see if they're pokemon? Try not to surprise them too much and confide that you're not here to attack, and ask if they've seen a big mushroom walking around here that looks hurt, and if so where it went. If the flowers are just flowers, we'll carry on following the drag marks carefully." |

While their plan for an overhead assault had worked, Hoshiko had unfortunately taken a hit in the process, leaving her out for the remainder of the game. Still, Jess smiled at their success and reached down to pat her leaf. "Good work, Hoshi." Together they sat patiently on the bench as they watched the rest of the round unfold. Although their team ended up in third place, she cheered and congratulated her comrades on a great play. As they waited for the next phase of the contest to commence, refreshments were passed all around, and a song and dance performance took the stage. Jess beamed as she recognized the chorus of Flabébé from before, as Hoshi happily joined them on her ocarina, while Lilac and Iris walted together in time to the music. Lance looked on admiringly at the dancers onstage as well, approving of their graceful, measured movements. Upon conclusion she clapped loudly along with the rest of the audience in appreciation, as the troupe bowed and exited to give one of the gardeners the floor to announce the next event would be starting soon. Their act was then followed a Nuzleaf juggling Exeggcute heads, and Jess grinned as she continued to enjoy the entertainment immensely, remaining captivated as other trainers idly mingled a bit more, until it came time for the subsequent segment to begin... Scanning the strongly scented contents, it seemed they were being sent on a scavenger hunt of some sort. For what though, was anyone's guess. For their only clue was presented as a cryptic conundrum: "Ever changing though the eye can’t measure, concealed within are many treasures. Some find safety beneath its gate, while some may die beneath its weight." Jess mulled over the memo for several minutes, feeling sufficiently stumped by the strawberry-perfumed puzzler. At first glance it reminded her of that Gollum riddle she read when she was a kid, but where would she find an egg around here? Plus she didn't think the weight of an egg was enough to kill anybody... As she cast around at her options, she saw a path leading left towards a waterlily display. As she stared at the pools of water, a memory trickled in the back of her mind, of a flood pouring in, filling all available space and eventually her lungs, crushing under its pressure... She shuddered, pushing the thought aside. Still, perhaps she was on the right track. Water was ever ebbing and flowing after all, and sometimes there was buried treasure in its depths, not to mention the number of creatures that lived under the surface... Speaking of which, she hadn't yet decided whom she should bring with her on the quest. Looking at the lotuses bobbing on the pond, she thought of Lilac's own stage name (and tangentially a character who shared the same title from a similar puzzle game she'd played). Turning to the Petilil, she proposed: "How about it, Lila? Do you have any ideas?" The plant Pokémon cocked her head, then, surprisingly rustled towards the right, at a garden that was gray rather than green, with a waterfall and bamboo fountain to boot. Through a combination of writing/pictographs on the ground and interpretive dance, Lilac explained that the rhyme was reminiscent to her; she felt she had heard someone singing those words as part of a longer stanza whilst incubating inside her Egg - the one she believed to be her mother's voice. Based on the rest of the refrain she could recall, she determined it was likely referring to a "rock" or "stone". Jess briefly pondered the suggestion, coming to the conclusion that it could be applicable as well. The earth, she reasoned, was ever-changing too after all - as evidenced by seemingly everywhere she went these days, seeing unfamiliar formations spring up in place of places she once knew - even if such transformation's progress was invisible to the naked eye. (How ironic she had just been rewatching a show recently that revolved around humanike "Gems", who claimed that to "grow" and "change" was not natural for them, and yet they slowly but surely did, bit by bit.) To that end, she glimpsed curiously at her companion, wondering how exactly she felt about her "mother" nowadays, and the possibility of finding out more about her family and where she came from. While she deemed herself descended from gypsies (and refused most outside help in training as a result, although recently relented to accepting such gifts for her presumed "Birthday" at least), her pride still denied the prospect of actively seeking them out. Yet her leaves seemed to twitch slightly in wistful thought at the remembrance, and Iris laid a comforting paw on her partner, who brightened and nuzzled lovingly back. Jess shook her head, shrugging. It was not her place to pry, and if Lilac was content not knowing, then so was she. Regardless of her origins, she was a friend and important member of the squad - her "family". And so Jess trusted in her judgment. Thus, the two set off in the direction of the Rock Garden in search of a special stone or rock that fit the description. (And hey, if that plan failed, at least there were bodies of water there as well to serve as a backup.) Observing Lilac's back however as she boldly conducted the way, Jess couldn't help but speculate how the one who left her at the Egg House that day must have felt. Whatever their reasons, Jess was certain her initial hunch had been correct: Truly, an Egg contained the greatest treasure of all, even more precious than any jewel. As her adopted handle proclaimed: "A beauty that rises from the muck"; or perhaps, one might indeed say, just like a pearl built from sand and grit, or hidden crystal contained within an unassuming pebble. OoC - Roundabout way to say I cheated but "water" was my first guess. *shot*
