That Pokemon literally needs every inch to be effective. I know that well, and that information is why I won this battle:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/g...ttle-970324388 I might not have switched Greninja had I not known Mega Gengar is a set, and that Dark Pulse is gimped. Even then...I just barely eeked this one out, and only because of the Trick. I was at a massive disadvantage throughout the entire bout.

Rewarded as a grace-flincher deserves.
Missed the match where the number ran over, but hey, I'm into the 1300s again, for the first time since the can of Aegislash.

Really weird that you ran into a Sap Sipper Azumarill. That's literally the first Sap Sipper I've seen that wasn't my own.

^agreed, I mean I guess I can see why you'd run Sap Sipper on mono-water but Huge Power has always and will always be the superior ability. Like without it you don't hit hard enough to punch through wet paper

Sounds gimmicky. You can't switch Sap Sipper into Bulu/Kartana without revealing it's bait, which ruins the surprise Whirlpool. And if you could run Belly Drum on Sap Sipper and actually do something offensively afterward because offensive Grass ALWAYS ends up switching.

What caused Linoone to rise from PUBL all the way to RUBL between Gen VI and Gen VII?
I'm guessing it's the Figy Berry boost, but wasn't that not really an issue with Gluttony? Quote:

I think Qwilfish is the best 6th member of my mono water team. The only problem with it is the bad bulk, which makes eating Fighting or Fairy-type hits a little hard.
I've mentioned this before, but Qwilfish is the closest thing to an Arceus-Water in OU. The difference from other physical Swift Swimmers like Kabutops is the much better offensive/defensive type combo. I've found that if Qwilfish sets up, especially to +4, I rarely lose. It at least takes out one wall which is dangerous to the other sweepers, if not 2 Pokemon or a complete sweep. Hydro Vortex at +4 in the rain kills everything, including Ferrothorn, Chansey, Toxapex and Mega Venusaur. Against a resist after the Z-Move is blown, like say Kommo-o, there's Explosion. Once the walls are blasted out of the way Ash-Greninja and Mega Swampert have a much easier time cleaning up the enemy team. But the trick is getting Qwilfish in that position. Here's a decent example. It was nice that the guy had a surprise Mega Charizard Y, but he must have not EV'd it or something because Qwilfish should not outspeed max speed Charizard in the sun. I don't understand how Ferrothorn could do 30% to a resisted move. 65/85 physical bulk isn't great, but look at what that Scarf Lele does (46%). Gyroball usually does NOTHING to my Water-types. Here's hoping for a Qwilfish evolution in Galar; Something with these stats and the same typing/abilities would be great: HP: 75 ATK: 115 DEF: 95 SPA: 55 SPD: 85 SPE: 95 =520 Close to Kabutops spread, but the same increase that Sneasel got going into Weavile.

I killed another Mega Charizard Y through Drought.
Is there something wrong with Showdown? This is the second person who has complained that Qwilfish shouldn't outspeed Mega Charizard Y. Quote:

That definitely seems like an inconsistency to me. When they first introduced Mega Evolution, the Mega-evolved Pokemon's speed was still treated like its base form's speed on the turn it Mega-evolved. I think it would make sense for the Drought/Swift Swim mechanics to work the way they do in your example if this were still the case. But now that they changed it so the Pokemon's speed gets updated to its new base as soon as it Mega-evolves... I can understand why there'd be confusion. Doesn't make sense to me anyway

It makes me wonder what would happen in a scenario with Mega Tyranitar, who Mega Evolves and then uses Pursuit on a Pokemon that switches out.
Switching is supposed to happen before Mega Evolution - we know this because Mega Gengar can't trap something that switches out on the turn it Mega Evolves. But Pursuit is at a higher priority than switching when the Pokemon is switched out.

appears that in that case it's Mega->Pursuit->Switch interesting

Wow I didn't know that you could challenge yourself or bots to laboratory things. I'm convinced then that the Swift Swim thing is a bug, because look at what the priority stack looks like in this situation:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/g...goes-972092270 Psychic Terrain doesn't block Pursuit, though it blocks every other single-targeting priority move. What this means is that Pursuit isn't actually a priority move, it's coded in a way that has the Pursuit user takes their turn first when the opponent switches. So when two Mega weather inducers battle, the base speed determines who Mega Evolves first, and which weather applies. Then the next step determines the turn order and applies weather effects. So for Tyranitar v. Charizard, if Charizard uses Solar Beam, it won't take one turn to use because the sandstream is in effect by the time the attack step happens for both Pokemon. It does not make sense at all for Swift Swim's speed boost is unaffected by the change in weather, if the faster Charizard Y's Solar Beam is affected by the change in weather. Because the attack step for both Pokemon takes place at the same tiime. I don't want to play unless this bug is fixed, it makes me feel icky.

I made it to 1576 on ranbats but I don't want to play anymore. The luck factor is just too immense and frustrating and it's not what I like seeing out of this game.
I guess this shows a lot of improvement over when I was struggling to break 1200 before, since I actually bothered to learn the sets a bit, but the number of games you'd need to get an 80%+ GXE is immense and the frustration of an underpowered team or worse, lame legend like Shadow Ball/Dragon Pulse/Rest/Sleep Talk Giratina-O is too much to handle. I'm going to credit building monotype for OU as massively improving my battling skill. For something like mono water, it is simple team construction on "how do you toolbox with X OU threat" like my Junk Doppel YGO deck. For Ubers I didn't really have to deal with this, because Gen VII Ubers isn't accustom to water spam and a like of HO can't adapt to it at all. The only downside is I wish I had a switch-in for Rotom-Wash and I absolutely hate the luck element that comes with using Ash-Greninja and Hydro Pump. Nothing swings momentum as dramatically than missing a Hydro Pump, so I hope for buffs next gen that reduce this luck element. It's weird, but I didn't have as much frustration in YGO as I do with Pokemon, mainly because you knew what to expect and how to prepare for it, even if the opponent drew godly. Here you can make all the right plays and still lose to chance and that's not for me in this environment. Find in mahjong though. Not sure why.

The only thing for the swift swim thing is to see if it actually works that way on cartridge-if it does, it's not a bug, it's accuracy to the game. If not, THEN report it as a bug.

STABmons was removed as an alternative metagame. There was no notification at all, it just closed down. It only exists as challenge-only now.

Sky Attack has no business being a charge move with only 90% accuracy.
I've had 4/10 Sky Attacks miss. That's ridiculous, considering the charge.
