I could see Golem fitting in pretty well, he could have an interesting fighting style with lots of rolling what with his shape and all.

I was far more annoyed by Mienshao's fighting style being listed as "martial arts." Because martial arts is totally a school of martial arts.

That trailer is the stuff that dreams are made of. Oh: and that sells Wii U`s.
The game looks glorious. It also looks like the next natural evolution in what I'd love to see the main series games' combat become. Even if it doesn't outright supplant the traditional fighting schematic in Pokémon's main series games, I would love it if we could get a Pokkén Tournament game that featured a main series-like experience of its own, equipped with story and captures and traveling and everything. If they market this properly, I could see this selling almost as many Wii U`s as XY sold 3DSes. This appeals heavily to the old school crowd, granting a wish that many have carried in their hearts for almost two decades. A Pokémon game with a fighting game's engine and battle mechanics. And while Type Wild granted this wish years ago, it just ... never really caught on the way that I could see Pokkén Tournament catching on. Hoping you can turn the support characters off though. They look like a fun, cute addition to the game that I will have plenty of fun with with my sister, but when it comes to Internet battles for all the e-glory I think people will want a 1-on-1 fight with no interruptions. I want, and I think most people will want, "Blaziken vs. Machamp" and not "Blaziken and his pet Emolga vs. Machamp and his pet Snivy."

ew splatoon. I'd rather run around beating people up with more fun ways than the classic 'territorial shoot 'em up'.
Anyway, back to Pokken. From the roster so far, it's clear that they're purposely trying to avoid it being mostly Fighting types by sticking to fan faves only (Machamp, Lukic, Blaze), although for the record, I think adding like, Gallade would be a cool idea.

So this looks alright.
Another reason I want a Wii U but I'm not going to buy one just for this until a few more games I actigely want come out since I'm not totally interested in games like this. They're fun sure, but I'm not really invested much in them, and I wasn't much a Tekken fan either. |

Though it's really unlikely, I hope Turtwig or it's evolutions get into the game! It would be a great addition!

So, recent news on Pokken Tournament involves a peculiar fighter character: Shadow Mewtwo. It basically looks like Mewtwo gone XD001, and that makes me wonder-would GameFreak be willing to revisit Orre anytime soon? Are they planning on it, what with Shadow Mewtwo (not that it has any XD Shadow Moves confirmed)?

So this came out today...
Anyone playing? After about two hours I'm feeling Chandy with Braxien and an undecided 3rd as backups. |

I'm not playing, though that has less to do with lack of interest and more to do with lack of a Wii U. If I ever do get a Wii U, I'm likely getting this as one of my first games for it. Looks pretty cool from what I've seen.

Fatal Frame 5 is my No.1 reason to buy a Wii U. This game is No.2. Super excited to own it, but probably won't for a good long while.

Suicune, imo, is bad.

Suicine is just kind of weird. Its playstyle is very range focused and it has a lot of slow moving projectiles and moves like that. Its Duel Phase moveset is kinda slow and a little clunky and it also doesn't help that it's relatively large so it can get caught in some funky combos.
I think Braixen is my surprise favorite so far. She's... super weird but man she flows really well and has a solid Field game and a really fun and combo-y Duel game. Chandy is awesome too but pretty much everyone of his moves has some lag to it and you pretty much always have to manage your spacing because of the weird angles on some of his moves and the fact that a handful of his moveset fails entirely if you're not at the right distance. I'm also really enjoying Pikachu Libre who is a really effective close quarters fighter. Pikachu and PikaLibre are really, really different too, as normal Chu is pretty balanced and has some neat tricks in Field whereas Libre properly shines in Duel. Nearly all of her Duel moveset links in some way, but her Field attacks almost always combo inward and even her grabs keep the opponent really close to you, encouraging you to go right back into Duel phase even if you knock them out of it. I also think Sceptile is interesting, though I've yet to really figure him out, and I feel like Gengar has potential but his voice acting is weird and annoying lol. Garde is pretty neat too but I haven't really figured her out yet. I feel like she has a really specific playstyle but it's not really that obvious by watching her. She has a lot of distance and spacing attacks but they don't seem to link up logically. On the topic of voice acting oh my god the English VAs are awful. Easily the worst part of this game. But thank god they have a Japanese option where they actually hire VAs who do voice acting for a living. |
