Beginner Trainer Battle: Missingno. Master vs. kaisap112
The referee was always a little nervous about battles conducted in this arena. Cascadia's Geyser park was an explosive temperamental terrain known to erupt with extremely forceful jets of scalding hot water at a minutes notice. The trainer's had chosen this arena and the referee would ensure all safety precautions were in place. The arena was situated part way up Mt. Aduro, a 100 metre square plot of volcanic soil, thick dark and moist. Dotted around the field were several geysers that would shoot hot water far into the air at random intervals.
The two trainers climbed the roughly cut terrain approaching the arena and spotted the referee waiting on the edge for them ready to safely escort them to their trainer boxes. She gives them a small wave and waits for them to finish their conversation before speaking to them. "Well you both certainly chose an interesting arena. I warn you to be very careful here, the last battle I reffed here had the earth literally quaking and geysers erupting every round. I know that Noriko is new to these battle so I welcome you here and hope you and your Pokemon will enjoy yourself. Lets go over the rules so we all stay safe". Missingno. Master vs. kaisap112She allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Missingno. Master to Heads and kasisap112 to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Heads". Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play: – I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)“I came to win Battle me that's a sin I won't tear the sack up Punk you'd better back up” |

Round 1

Scorpius was slightly faster than his watery opponent and he give him a taste of his Leer startling the Seel and lowering his defences. With the pause his foe gave him Scorpius makes his next move scuttling towards his one of his claws darkening until it was almost black. Within range he unleashes his Night Slash upon Minori's white furred body and the Seel yelps in pain backing off and rubbing a flipper over the cut. Minori slides that fierce mask back onto his face, now it was his turn! He charges up an orb of water before his nose and launches it at Scorpius knocking him back and sending water spraying everywhere. That Water Pulse was a direct hit! Scorpius recovers quickly and uses his last move sending a barrage of Poison Stings that impact all over Minori making him cover his face to protect himself. When the attack was over he regains his focus and digs his tail into the most soil before throwing right at Scorpius who screeches as the mud lands right in his eyes lowing his accuracy. Minori gives a tight smile before using another Mud-Slap right at the Skorupi who's trying to remove the soil from his eyes. Keith frowned a bit. Though Scorpius had gotten off to a nice start, the Mud-Slaps are almost certainly going to make things difficult.
"Scorpius, try to listen for Minori if you can't see him," Keith began. "And use your Sludge Bomb attack. Then try another Poison Sting, and then if you can get close enough, Bite him!" |

Kitty moved from Noriko's shoulder to the top of her head, making Noriko feel only slightly less like a trainer in a very serious battle.
"Minori, you're doing great! Use another Mud Slap, then hit him with Headbutt and Water Pulse!" |

Round 2
Both Pokemon were evenly matched as this long awaited battle begun. Skorupi was busy trying to rid the mud from his eyes that was reducing his accuracy. Midori was proud of his work but already felt that his defences were weaker than before. Scorpius was left blind hoping that his hearing would be good enough to pin point the Seel. He concentrates hard listening for his breathing or any kind of movement. In the time it takes him to do this Midori was back on the attack. He begins to gather mud between his flippers again and Scorpius turns towards the sound, was he there? Both Pokemon fire their attacks at the same time, Midori's Mud-Slap hits his target but Scorpius' vision was not reduced any further as he was already caked with mud. The purple/brown Sludge Bombs fire into the air and rain around Midori only half hitting their intended target.
Midori begins to shuffle towards Scorpius getting closer for his next attack and Scorpius uses this opportunity to attack again. He hears the Seel more clearly now and spits out a wave of Poison Stings that stop Midori in his tracks. He winces and waits for the attack to end before resuming his slower approach to the scorpion before ramming his horn into his little body with a Headbutt. It was after this that both trainers could see the purple tinge on Midori's face, he's been poisoned! With both Pokemon close to one another Scorpius is able to latch onto Midori with his Bite catching a flipper and making him wave it back and forth trying to dislodge the bug. Midori charges up a bool of energy before his nose and lets loose his Water Pulse that attack exploding between them injuring both Pokemon. Both Pokemon pick themselves up injured but not done and suddenly feel the ground rumbling beneath them ... the geysers were about to erupt! They look about nervously and a geyser erupts right next to them sending them both flying to the side of the arena landing with a thud. Both trainers look very concerned but both Pokemon stir and slowly get to their feet. Scorpius squeals in pain as he feels a burn across his little midriff, now both Pokemon were inflicted with status problems and they were only 2 rounds in! Noriko winced as she watched Minori turn purple in the face. An Antidote or two would've definitely been in order, but without those the battle would become a race against time on top of the unpredictable and dangerous geysers causing enough trouble.
So much could still go wrong in this battle...Noriko tried to keep herself calm. "Minori, hang in there! First use Mud Slap to make sure Scorpius won't hit and then two Water Pulses!" |

"Damn it!" grunted Keith, noticing Scorpius's burn. "This complicates things." Of course, given that Scorpius's eyes were obscured by mud as it was, it wasn't as though the match could afford to be any more complicated as it is. Then, he got an idea. He didn't know if it would work, but it was worth a try.
"Scorpius, listen up," said Keith. "Launch your Sludge Bomb in Minori's direction, then make no effort to avoid the first Water Pulse. Instead, you take that attack right in the face, and that should wash at least some of the mud off! Once you can see a little better, give Minori another taste of your Leer, and follow up with Night Slash! |

Round 3
Events had certainly ended with a bang in the last round and neither Pokemon came away unscathed. Scorpius was tenderly poking his burn already feeling it draining his strength away whilst Minori looked sick with the poison pumping through his veins. The geysers certainly were a wild card in this battle and so far they had not been picky with who they caught. Noriko looked like she was going to give birth to kittens she was that worried about her Seel and Keith looked mildly perturbed at the current situation, a little cooler since he was a battle veteran.
Minori was taking deep breaths and listening to the sounds of his trainers voice, he must keep on the attack. He spots Scorpius near him and let loose a Mud-Slap that smacks him in the face again leaving him blind and more than annoyed. He can remember where Minori was last standing and shoots up a barrage of Sludge Bombs into the sky hoping again that luck would be on his side and they would hit their target. Unfortunately only a few of the bomb actually hit Minori and he doesn't take as much damage as the poison bug would like. Minori manages a grin as he readies his watery attack, this would do the trick for sure. Scorpius had orders not to move, hoping that the water would help clear his vision. Minori is only happy to oblige him with a Water Pulse that explodes on his body sending him sliding through the now wet mud. He blinks open his eyes and notices that most of the mud was gone, the water had washed it away, that was worth the pain! Why all of a sudden could he see multiple Seel's, had he used Double Team? He looked fiercer too, what was going on? WHHAAA!!!! That rock, that little rock just there ... no right there ... it tried to attack him, he needed to kill it! Scorpius starts digging his pincers into the ground fighting off an invisible foe and Keith rubbs his face and he realises that although his Pokemon's vision was better he was now confused! He's too distracted to use his Leer. Minori hold back a cackle at his opponent's misfortune, oh well, better put him out of his misery. He finishes of the round by shooting another Water Pulse at Scorpius who's too busy poking holes in the ground to see it coming. He squeals as he feels the water explode on his skin. He blinks in surprise looking about for the source of the water ... wait what was that white thing over there ... no there. It was a ... ROCK a WHITE ROCK, KILL THE ROCK!! He scuttles towards Minori totally confused but with one thought in mind. He charges up his Night Slash and rakes his claws down the Seel's flesh making him wince and hold his side. The white rock still lived, he would have to finish it off ... in the next round! Health: 39% Energy: 55% Status: Atk - Acc - Burnt Confused Health: 33% Energy: 56% Status: Def - Poisoned Missingno. "Come on, Scorpius!" Keith exclaimed, in somewhat better spirits, for his plan had worked... kinda. While the Water Pulse had indeed cleared the mud from Scorpius's eyes as per the general idea, Keith had failed to factor in its secondary effect of causing confusion. "Snap out of it! Leer! Night Slash! And Poison Sting! In that order! You can do it!" His hope was that shouting the attack orders directly and clearly might help them get through to the confused Skorupi a little easier, maybe even help him snap out of it.

Noriko watched, baffled, at Scorpius's violent chase of...something that wasn't Minori. She tried her hardest not to laugh as funny as it looked. The battle wasn't over yet, so nothing was a laughing matter.

Round 4
Keith was happy with his plan even if it meant that his Skorupi had become confused. He was sure he could snap him out of it and turn this battle around. Noriko was trying hard not to laugh at the antics of the bug as he attacks imaginary evil rocks but he had still hurt her Seel so she should not underestimate him. Keith yells at Scorpius to use Leer and something in the bug's mind clicks. He turns to stare at Minori and feels his eyes narrowing and startling the Seel with his Leer. Minori is too shocked to move and misses his opportunity to use his Mud-Slap.
Kieth gives out a sigh of relief and orders his next attack and it looks as though Scorpius is coming out of his confusion as his trainer's voice sounds clearly in his head. His claw is surrounded by a dark aura and he unleashes a Night Slash upon the prone Seel who yelps in pain, he managed to score a critical hit! These claw attacks were really starting to smart now. Minori snaps out of his stupor and lets loose a Water Pulse at Scorpius knocking him back and finally dealing some damage himself. The water is enough to completely snap him out of any lingering confusion and the scorpion spits out a barrage of Poison Sting barbs that stick in the Seels skin making him wince and whack them away with his tail. Minori pants hard feeling the toll of his multiple injuries now but is going to go down fighting. He uses his last Water Pulse to inflict more pain on the bug. The ground begins to quake again and both Pokemon look worried, this didn't fare well for either of them last time. Three geysers erupt on the field but fortunately they were far enough away from both Pokemon that neither were injured. Luck was on their side this time! Noriko's jaw dropped to almost ground-level as she watched the fourth round of the battle unfold. Murphy's law had hit her yet again!
"Please don't give up, Minori! Get some distance between yourself and Scorpius and use Water Pulse three times!" |

Keith was now grinning broadly. Rocky start notwithstanding, the match was definitely going their way.
"You got it, Scorpius!" Keith yelled encouragingly. "Let's finish it! Two Sludge Bombs and a Night Slash!" |

Round 5
Noriko was astonished with how their fortunes had turned, Minori looked ready to keel over from his injuries and they had started so well too. Keith couldn't keep the grin off his face as he had flashbacks to the Rocky films, his Pokemon kept getting knocked down but get getting right on back up; and now he was set for a major comeback.
Minori starts backing up whilst charging up yet more water before his nose. If he could keep his distance he might survive, if he could take out that Skorupi he could win the match. He unleashes his Water Pulse, the orb flying right into Scorpius knocking him over. Scorpius picks himself right back up and narrows his gaze upon his target before sending a wave of Sludge Bombs right at Minori. He backs up trying avoid the attack but the bombs explode all around him making him wince and cry out with every shot. He wobbles back before collapsing to the ground unable to take any more punishment. The referee sends her Driblim across the field to observe the result before pointing towards Keith speaking to her trainer in her own language. "Piper informs me that Minori is no longer able to battle, so Keith and Scorpius are the winners!" Health: 19% Energy: 31% Status: Atk - Burnt Health: 00% Energy: 39% Status: KO'd from his injuries Congratulations to Missingno.Master and Keith. This battle was back and forth and you had some good luck with the RNG. Your move-set was stronger and it gave you an edge, you're beginning to stack up victories now. Your opponent's will have to watch out for you For his victory Scorpius receives this . He also receives two levels. Commiserations to kaisap and Minori, it was another close battle and you're getting closer to your first victory.
