Then I'd say wait for him to add those options. As for me, it would have been Pokémon Blue on Christmas Day, 1998.

Poll max is 10 options. If you started with FR/LG, you screwed.

I think he's saying he feels left out of being able to belong to the oldest generation. He may have played Fire Red or Leaf Green. He may even have gone back and played RBY. But it's not the same as having been playing RBY back in the day and posting on the UPNetwork, ThePokeMasters, Bulbagarden, or that one Koffing-themed forum I forget their name now.
Basically, you've got your younger fans who say "I remember when Smogon only went up through Gen 3 " and then you've got folks like us who say, "I remember when the hot spot for English discussion about the game's code and hidden mechanics was Azure Heights." Today's kids are like "Azure who? " Speaking of Azure Heights, holy shit the site still lives and even has its University of Miami domain name still! That's pretty cool. I'd have thought the kid who made that long since graduated and the school'd have wiped his web account. Guess he must have stayed on as a grad student or something ...

You know, there's an edit button.
And like I said, 10 options. Too bad for you. Not my problem. EDIT response to Talon: They had probably one of the best forums in the past. Hell, check this out! A thread from 2000! That's older than a lot of the fandom. Last edited by Loki; 02-28-2011 at 04:04 PM. |

Loki, maybe change the options to like ...
Red/Blue Yellow Gold/Silver Crystal Ruby/Sapphire Emerald Fire Red/Leaf Green Diamond/Pearl Platinum Heart Gold/Soul Silver That's exactly ten, and it separates the titles by their release schedules. I mean, after all, what's the big deal whether your first game was Gold or Silver? You started in the early 2nd gen regardless. Though if you do make changes ... can we reset the votes?

I take great pride starting owning Blue instead of Red. I remember back in Junior High School (or Middle School to everyone else) and having a great rivalry of Reds and Blues. Who would have guessed that it would eventually become a HALO thing instead.../sigh

So you could talk about shipping? XD
Why? Is it a curious relic from a time gone by to you? Or is it alive and well and you have strong feelings about a particular pairing? Man, I remember back when UPN had -- and needed -- a separate forum just so all the shipping threads could go there. There were people who shipped Ash x Gary, people who shipped Pikachu x Ketchup, all sorts of weird and crazy shit. Though I gotta say that the "Professor Oak is Ash's illegitimate father" theory inspired by Movie 3 and more recently drudged up by Oak and Delia's vacation to Unova with Ash in tow is pretty funny and one of my favorites.

My first (and only) legal copy of a Pokémon handheld game was Silver. ^^; I don't remember whether I had/played the earlier versions on my computer before then. I started out by watching the animé in the elementary school. Ah, back when we raced home to catch afternoon cartoons, and trading cards were banned at school but everyone played with them anyway. Those were the days.
My Pokémon OTP is Gary Oak x Molly Hale (from the third movie). ...I have my reasons. A shipping section would be kinda interesting if enough people actually wanted to participate, whether seriously or for lulz. On a slight tangent, I wouldn't mind a fanfic/fanart section either.
