ESPN3.com's betrayed me once again. Caught me completely offguard. Looks like I'll be missing today's game. And I'll need to find a willing friend to let me hang out and "borrow" his TV for two hours tomorrow.

So I read Brazil's head coach just got fired for losing the World Cup, despite two non-WC championship wins since 2006. He's also got one of the finest records of a Brazilian coach, but apparently his philosophy of wanting the "team to stand on its own feat", i.e. not allowing arrogant superstar players to foot every game, put him at odds with fans and administration.
Really, that's so butthurt I'm not sure if I should be glad Brazil lost, because a good man lost his job.

He'll be able to find a new job no problem, the managerial system as it works in the premier league is that everyone gets judged on their season and fired if they don't perform (despite still settling into a team) and then for some stupid reason the admins look back on a coaches history to decide who's going to be the new coach. Terrible system.
What annoys me more is the managers, like Nigeria's coach, who's being payed 3-4 million a year to coach Nigeria for two years when he has done nothing different from the old Nigerian manager who used to manage old Nigerian clubs and Togo but he got paid less than a million a year. It would seem that these countries are assured that a white europeon will do a better managing job when they haven't. (Examples used; Ivory Coast). |

Predicting that the Netherlands will become the best team in the world never to have won the world cup when Spain win tonight.
Supporting the Dutch though. EDIT the first: With the possible exception of the Portuguese, the other really major national side who've never won it.

De Jongs challenge was horrible; he's lucky to still be on the pitch.

EDIT the first: As much as I wanted the Dutch to win going into this game, it's a disgrace they still have even ten men on the field. This hasn't been a good world cup final at all, except for the first half of the extra time. Howard Webb has done a decent job at times but often he's just been a bit rubbish.

Well that was a bit of a shitty, scrappy final. So many players shouldn't have been on the pitch at the end.

Bad game, but still better than Spain vs. Paraguay. THAT was terrible. This was only just bad.
