Magikarp The Minnao Isles: A Fisherman's Paradise (Seasonal Zone)

The Minnao Isles

= Due to rough waters, the Minnao Isles is not accepting new intros. Sorry! =

A small island plopped a short ways away from the mainland of Fizzytopia, the Minnao Isles are a sparsely populated set of tiny islands known for peaceful waters and gentle weather. Something about the islands offer Water-typed Pokemon a home, and as a result, recent efforts have begun to promote it to trainers and common people as an excellent fishing location. These efforts are led by Thomas Wilkson, a frequent visitor of the island with his two children, Alden and Sara, on fishing trips. He’s often been quoted to say that the Minnao Isles are the nicest place he’s ever been to, and is always willing to help with new travelers to the islands.

However, travelers should be aware of the recent conflict. The native Minnao people of the island have begun to notice their Pokemon companions becoming more distant from them, and the old sacred lands are becoming overrun with tourists. While they are not opposed to new visitors, they are becoming increasingly concerned that construction of new settlements is ruining their connection to Manaphy, the patron Pokemon of the Minnao. These people can often be found by following carvings on trees and rocks of a fish-shaped symbol.

Whether you're just here for a peaceful fishing trip or to contribute to the island, we welcome you to the Isles. Have a great trip!

Areas:

Cordina’s Peak: Named after a famous priestess, Cordina’s Peak is the religious center of the Minnao people. People from various tribes often travel here to make offerings to Manaphy for the health of their children, or to Kyogre for good weather. Here, the current head priest, Holai, attempts to heal the bonds between people and Pokemon on the island. While there isn’t much fishing opportunity here, with the only water truly available in the shallow pools of the Sea Altar, the locals are sure to need help with the daily goings on in the village. Please respond in deepskyblue. This area is intended for Normal adventures.

The Blue Valley: A little ways away from Cordina’s Peak, the valley formed by run- off from the water up top is filled mostly by an expansive river. Here, Pokemon are found on the shores of the river, and those willing to brave the waters to look into deep dwelling Pokemon must be careful for the winding rapids that happen downstream. Minnao teens often come into the valley searching for the Pokemon companion they bond with for life. Please respond in dodgerblue. This area is intended for Quick or Normal adventures.

Mioo Plains: The Mioo Plains are a little ways north of the valley, once the land flattens out a bit more- although a little bit too much, considering their nature as the over flooded floodplains. Many Minnao tribes build small towns across the plains, made mostly of wooden buildings on whatever land stands high enough. These towns are often deeply interconnected in culture and trade, and people there are mostly more than willing to help wandering trainers navigate the complex waters of the floodplains, as long as they promise not to disturb wild Pokemon for no reason. Please respond in mediumseagreen. This area is intended for Quick or Normal adventures.

Moilock Marsh: The northern fish tail-like part of the main island is a large dense wetland mostly made from water flowing in from the plains and even the Blue Valley above. Despite the marsh’s deep connections to the sea, something there keeps the water fresher than expected. The marsh is named for a Minnao man haunted by nightmares who was said to have gone out to the marsh in a fit of madness, never to be seen again. Here, many Pokemon are often spotted lurking below the water’s surface, aiming for the next boat they can flip over and soak the occupants. Please respond in olivedrab. This area is intended for Quick or Normal adventures.

The Mints: The Mints are the names for the small islands to the east of the main, fish shaped island. They are a wild and generally unkempt land, home to deep and complex jungles that few have entered (mostly because there’s little known reason to travel there). It is known that some people who disagreed with the past leadership of the Minnao once moved to these islands, but any other claims of rare Pokemon or ancient curses are currently unproven. Anyone looking to travel into the land is recommended to have a guide from either the Minnao or settlers familiar with the lands. Please respond in mediumspringgreen. This area is intended for Normal adventures.

Orta Lake: In the middle of the island, Orta Lake lives as a natural freshwater habitat and is one of the most popular fishing spots on the island. Fishing operations here are led by Jack and Maie Ruddson, in addition to healthy fishing habits. They operate a small fishing shack near the lake with their son, Mason. Any of the three are more than willing to show anyone, Minnao or traveler, the ropes of fishing. Please respond in fuchsia. This area is intended for Quick adventures.

Cordina Ocean: Most of the salt water surrounding the Minnao Isles is affectionately referred to as the Cordina Ocean by locals for the same famous priestess as Cordina’s Peak, and named so for it’s exotic name by settlers. Anyone with adequate skill on navigating the waters often makes money taking trainers out on the deep waters for simple fishing. Rare and interesting Pokemon are known to be drawn to the Isles, and this may be the best way to find migrating Pokemon from distant lands. Please respond in lightpink. This area is intended for Quick adventures.

Red Beach: A beach encompassing a massive inlet to the island, most tourists spend their time in the gentle tides and bright sun here. Any wild Pokemon are often nervous of the recent influx of people, and tend to stick to the deepest part of the waters or have fled to the outskirts of the beach. Minnao protesters can sometimes be found here protecting natural Pokemon habitats. Please respond in indianred. This area is intended for Quick or Normal adventures.

New Redford: The largest settlement on the island, New Redford can be found in the southern half of the main island, near the Red Beach. It is a relatively small town, mostly consisting of small hotel, general stores, gift shops, and ports on every space the town can fit them. Thomas Wilkson can often be found here, supporting nearby building efforts. Fishing time is better spent elsewhere on the island, but the construction crew is always looking for help. Please respond in darkgoldenrod. This area is intended for Normal adventures.

Alloy Atoll: Unlike the other structures made for New Redford, this ring of platforms in the sea to the east of the main island is made with little regard for the concerns of the Minnao. Scientists looking to deeply understand the unexplained phenomena occurring in the isles come out here to conduct experiments. More recently, wild Pokemon have been making active efforts to interfere with their research, and adventures looking for a proper quest would do well to check the New Redford Bulletin Board for researchers needing help. Please respond in gainsboro. This area is intended for Normal adventures.

A red-headed man, a fuzzy bat and a helmeted lemur wander out onto the beach having just finish their lunch at a seaside restaurant. The trio had split a seafood platter and a mixed berry salad. They were island hopping after the man, Sypher, and Jill the Noibat had participated in an annual egg hunt where they found and hatched the third member of their troupe, Julian the Passimian. Seeing this as a golden opportunity for some group bonding, Sypher lead them to a relatively empty section of the shoreline.

"Alright, this looks good," Sypher said stretching, "Julian how about you hand me your berry? I'll toss it and you two can race to get it and toss it back."

"Pass?" Julian looked at the down to the large berry that it kept, before holding it up to Sypher. Then suddenly a shadow passed between the pair disappearing with the berry.

"Noi, Noi!!" Jill had taken the opening to quickly swoop by and abscond with the berry yelling back to taunt the newcomer who quickly gave chase. Sypher laughed at the sudden ruckus before giving chase himself. The group ran back and forth along the width of the beach, Jill always narrowly avoiding being caught. Eventually the Noibat landed atop a palm hoping to catch her breath only to be met by Julian who deftly darted up the tree. She tried to fly away, but this pulled Julian along as he had taken hold of the berry. Thrown off balance the duo crashed to the soft sand below. The berry itself got loose, bouncing off of Sypher's nose before flying off somewhere.

"F***, not this again!. Are you two alright?" Sypher asked wincing in pain.

"Noi..."

"Simi..."

The pair of Pokémon groaned their confirmation as they picked themselves up. Julian then began to look around for his berry, and began to panic as it wasn't in the immediate area.

"Pass? Pass? PASS!"

"I'm glad you're both okay, that was a bit of a nasty fall. Julian, I think its over there by that Bulletin Board." Sypher said, patting Julian on the head to calm him down.

The trio proceeded over to the bulletin board retrieving the wayward berry. Sypher stopped to look over the board, noticing that there were several postings from researchers asking for help.

"Sounds fun, what do you two think?" Sypher asked to the others. Julian was too busy seeing to the well being of his berry to respond while Jill squealed in agreement. "Okay then, lets see what exactly they're looking for."

Jayson had arrived on the Minnao Isles just a few days ago and so far he had done nothing eventful. At first he was more than happy just to relax on the beach with his Pokemon, attempting to get a tan but failing miserably. His skin now blistering red with sunburn, Jayson decided to make his way into the middle of the main island, having heard from some locals of a nice freshwater lake. Atalanta, Jayson's starter, flew ahead of him as she scouted ahead for the best path to take. The Rowlett was becoming accustomed to her role, she seemed to enjoy having a purpose outside of battle.

With Atalanta scouting ahead, it didn't take the pair of them long to find their destination. They soon found themselves standing on the edge of a large freshwater lake, surely full of water Pokemon. Jayson had recently acquired a Water-type Pokemon, however at its current stage it was far from useful. Unclipping the pokeball from his belt, Jayson tossed it out over the water. The ball bursts open and an orange fish crashes into the water. The Magikarp swims over to the water's edge and stares at Jayson with his big, beady eyes.

"Hello Jormungand, how is the water?" Jayson stares at the Magikarp as it gulps in reply. He really needed to push the fish, he knew of the hidden potential it held but it seemed like it would take forever to get it there. Looking around the banks of the lake, Jayson could see a small shack not too far away. Perhaps someone there would be able to help him train Jormungand.

Brave Saix: After the brief kerfuffle on the beach, you find yourself standing before the bulletin board with Jill hovering at your shoulder. Scanning over the posted jobs, most of them seemed to be pretty mundane and uninteresting - take readings here, pick this up for me, make sure this gets delivered. They were all simple jobs with simple pay, but two in particular abruptly stood out to you as a little more than that.

Dear TRAINERS,

I work on the Alloy Atoll, with my primary field of research being the numerous curses and fancies of the Mint isles. I wish for trainers to travel to these islands, accompanied by a guide which I will provide, and see if they can aid with the collection of data and research material. The guide and travel costs will be covered by our organisation, and any successful findings will be handsomely paid for.

Hi there! Mainly looking for some trainers who can help me travel to Cordina's Peak. My main focus of interest here is in the religion which has pervaded the Isles for generations. I want to have a little dig around their religious site - with clearance, of course - and see if I can figure out some of the intricacies of the local beliefs. Pay will be reasonable, and any physical findings which aren't of scientific importance will be added to your payment. Meet me at the Atoll and we can get on our way.
Both jobs involved some sort of travel, and both seemed like they would reap fairly significant reward. Jill simply turns her eyes towards you, curious to see which you would choose - if any. There were, of course, other listings on the board if neither took your fancy.

TheKnightsFury: Walking along the shore of the lake towards the small shack with Jormungand happily swimming alongside, you find yourself admiring the natural beauty of the area for a moment. The place was almost picturesque, lush verdant fields framing the still clear waters of the lake itself. The pleasant warmth of the sun overhead only managed to add to the serene sense of beauty, but you soon find yourself standing before the shack. Taking yourself out of your trance, and leaving Jormungand to splash in the waters of the lake edge, you walk up to the door of the shack, intending to knock at the wooden door ...

Only for it to swing wide open before your knuckles could meet the hardwood. Standing before you was a man who was large in every sense of the word. Tall and a little round, he wore what was an all too obvious fisherman's attire. A pair of vibrant green wading trousers hung slack from his shoulders, a wide brimmed reed hat perched on his head. Over on shoulder he had slung his fishing rod, and three Poke Balls nested on his belt. His brown hair was more obvious in his large beard that he wore, flecks of grey here and there betraying his age somewhat. The man just barely notices you standing there before leaving his shack, managing to stop himself from bowling into you with a deep, lively laugh.

"Nearly missed ye there laddie! What can I be doing for you eh? Looking for some o' the prime fishin' spots?"

Jayson certainly was startled as the door flung open, the burly fishman almost threatening to plant him on his backside. The sudden appearance spooked Atalanta, the Rowlet had launched herself off his shoulder in a flurry of feathers. Upon realizing the man posed no threat, she quickly returned to her spot on Jayson's shoulder, nuzzling into his neck for comfort. Also humoured by the fact that he nearly got flattened, Jayson thrusted out his right hand to greet the cheery fellow.

"Well met sir, my name is Jayson and this is my partner Atalanta", the Rowlet let out a little hoot as he introduced her. "I've been on the island for a few days now and must admit I have started getting a little bored. A local told me that this was a nice tranquil place known for fishing, so I figured I would give it a look."

Suddenly a splash of water splatters across the back of Jayson's legs. He turns to see Jormungand splashing wildly in the water, trying to gain the attention of his trainer.

"Oh right, that is my Magikarp, Jormungand. I am sure you are more than familiar with Magikarp and that was actually what I was hoping you could help me with. Have you got any idea on how they should be raised? I know they evolve into the powerful Pokemon Gyarados, I just don't know how I am meant to raise it when it can't really do anything....."

Jayson looked over at the Magikarp who was still flopping about like a clown. He didn't regret picking the Magikarp from the Adoption Center, he knew there was a diamond beneath all the rough, he just hadn't anticipated the amount of rough he would have to get through.

"I'm honestly willing to try anything. ANYTHING. Outside of that though, I wouldn't mind a fishing lesson from a professional such as yourself, I believe one should never turn down and opportunity to hone their skills."

Both jobs involved some sort of travel, and both seemed like they would reap fairly significant reward. Jill simply turns her eyes towards you, curious to see which you would choose - if any. There were, of course, other listings on the board if neither took your fancy.
Sypher and Jill looked over the listings and found two that seemed interesting.

"Study some of the supernatural goings-ons of the region or help out with a digsite? Considering the amount of island hoping we've been doing lately it would be nice to settle down for a few days. Plus I'd like to meet the natives. I hear they have an old connection to Manaphy." At the mention of Manaphy, Sypher shifted his gaze down to his Pokémon. Jill had fluttered down next to Julian both of which tilted their heads in confusion at the name. "Well I suppose it is a name worthy of expalaination."

He lead the group quickly over to the sand. Drawing the form of Manaphy as he spoke, he recounted what he was told years prior. "This was one of the legends I was told as my family was traveling in the Sinnoh and Hoenn regions.

`Once every decade or so, a special egg is born from the sea.
The egg, clear as the ocean harbors the nights stars and a heart of ruby,
will drift the current until it finds a kind soul to whom the Prince of the Sea is born.
Bearing the gift to connect hearts, Manaphy, is the one to maintain peace among the Pokémon who dwell in the sea.
This duty is ultimately his curse as Manaphy will be torn away from his parent.'

I've never quite liked the last line. I'd hate to think about your mothe forcing you to leave with them Jill." Sypher thought back to the day Jill's egg hatched as a trio of Noivern had come looking for their lost egg back in Kalos. A gentle smile came to his face as he rubbed the top of the fuzzy bat's head. Turning back to the board, he pull the second listing down and read over the remaining details of the job. "Well, we'll need to find a ride to the island mentioned on here."

Sypher recalled Julian as him and Jill proceeded to the closest port and searching for someone to provide them with the needed transportation.

Gary had just arrived back in the land of Fizzy Bubbles, the land of many ecosystems, and as he thought about which direction he would like to take his next adventure, the answer came quite quickly in his mind. He wanted to go to the ocean, a place he was quite fond of. He had already changed into proper attire; a short sleeved hoodie that was completely unzipped in the front to protect him from the sun and a pair of swim trunks so he could get wet without any worry. Climbing aboard his Mantine Aero’s back, the two surfed along the waves in pursuit of the Minnao Isles.

Once the sandy beaches were in sight, Gary patted Aero on the head. “We’re almost there, buddy!” Aero smiled happily and leapt out of the water, using a wave like a takeoff ramp and spread his large fishy wingspan to soar a short distance before splashing back onto the ocean’s surface. As they pulled up on the beach, Gary hopped off the Mantine and recalled him back into his pokeball. “Thanks for the lift!” he called out.

Gary pulled a pair of sandals out of his waterproof bag and stepped in them before he burned his feet on the hot sand. The sand itself was a remarkable red color, most likely from the rich sediment in a nearby reef. He could see that this beach was quite populated with tourists, but he wasn’t here to relax. He was here to explore and see what this rich ecosystem and wildlife had to offer.

"We have arrived! Now, we must locate Thomas Wilkson!"

The peppy voice in Spark's head woke him from his slumber before the sailor could even finish tying the boat to the dock. Deadset on the goal at hand, the little Natu hopped out of the sailboat and onto the damp planks of the boardwalk. Gingerly, Spark stood to his feet, tipped the sailor with coins he no longer had a use for, and joined his newest partner on the port. With a hop and a flutter, Fortune landed on Spark's head, balancing perfectly with his tiny feet.

"Proceed!" Fortune mentally shouted.

The blinding island sun beat down on Spark as he entered the town. And it was quickly apparent to Spark that despite being the largest settlement of the Minnao Isles, it was indeed a town, if not a village. In fact, all that was keeping it afloat as a town was a number of basic commodities. As he perused the settlement, Spark noticed signs for a hotel, a general store, and an odd gift shop or two meant specifically for the summer tourists. New Redford was nothing special, but it definitely contained a rustic charm, which Spark supposed was fitting given the Isle's reputation as a fishing paradise. However, Spark hadn't come for a peaceful fishing trip. If he had heard about the Isles from Thomas Wilkson, that may have been the case. But the one who told him about the Isles sudden popularity was none other than the Natu on his head.

---

"I have been practicing! Spark! Great bounties lie ahead if you dare to brave the unknown! This is your newest prophecy!" ranted the proud Natu. After being adopted by Spark the previous morning, Fortune had spent the entirety of the next day watching his new trainer, focusing on honing his focus to glimpse into the future. The young Psychic type's power was still quite weak, but every now and then, when the future and the subject are significant enough, he could catch a peek into what is in store for each of them. This time, the Natu managed to spot something just as Spark and Chord were finishing their dinner, his sudden, enthusiastic fluttering nearly causing the Murkrow to choke on the last of his dinner. As Chord gagged to the side, Fortune continued, "I heard the rumors in the Adoption Center. The Minnao Isles. They are popular for fishing. But! I heard that there are islands surrounding the main one that none have dared to explore! It is destiny for you to be the first! I have seen it!"

Not that Spark minded the sound of a successful, significant adventure, but needless to say, Fortune wouldn't take no for an answer, regardless of how Spark felt.

---

Arriving at the center of the town, the cool, coastal breeze had finally vanished, making the oppressive sun seemed all the more intense. The pair had come to New Redford in order to locate either Thomas Wilkson, or a guide brave enough to journey with them to The Mints. Taking a swig of lukewarm water from his reusable bottle, Spark resumed his search amidst optimistic inner encouragement from the Natu on his head.

Ami knew she was going to go to another tropical area, but for the life of her couldn’t remember how she wound up at another rapid riverbed. She may have gotten lucky during the Springtime Pyukumuku’s egg hunt, but she knew that she didn’t have Chroma’s luck with decidedly precarious situations… right? In any case, the dewpider looking around from his perch on top of her head was a constant reminder that that particular river had brought her good things in the end. Perhaps the same will happen this time as well?

The girl’s apprehension had another source, of course. To her knowledge, she’d never caught a wild pokemon before. What if it ultimately doesn’t like her? Wouldn’t it get homesick eventually? Or, perhaps even worse, what if she managed to make a fierce enemy out of a wild pokemon? She knew that a few species can be quite stubborn in their chase to revenge some sort of sleight, and the thought of being on the receiving end of that level of spite chilled her…

A sort of distorted chatter drifted down from above her head. “Thanks for trying to comfort me, Bell. You’re right, I probably have nothing to worry about!” Ami scanned the area again, looking for another eddie in the river where tired water types are likely to take refuge. Spying none in the immediate area, she decided to head a little bit away from the giant mass of flowing water and towards the rockier beds. It was unlikely that there were only water-typed pokemon around the area, after all!

Here, the current head priest, Holai, attempts to heal the bonds between people and Pokemon on the island. ABL slowly approaches the Sea Altar, hesitating at the last few steps. She glances around to see who might be observing her and, with a deep breath, finally steps up to the shrine. For a long moment, she fidgets with the hem of her shirt. The trainer looks back at the Espeon sitting calmly a few feet away, but the Pokémon gives no visible reaction. It seems like even the cheeky Dreamer understands the significance of this holy place and so is on her best behaviour.

The trainer chews at her bottom lip, uncertain as to whether she should speak aloud - or indeed, if such a thing is even permitted here. Remaining silent, she takes a small item from her bag and examines it. It's a small package, wrapped in some sort of leaf. ABL bends, gingerly placing the item at the altar. She claps her hands together and bows her head. Briefly, there is pain on her face, and warm tears threaten to spill down her cheeks, but the young woman manages to keep them under control.

After completing her prayer to Manaphy, ABL bows a little more deeply before stepping away from the Sea Altar. Without a sound, Dreamer pads after her.

"Thank you," murmurs the trainer. Dreamer merely gives ABL a knowing look.

With nothing else needing to be said, ABL and the graceful feline seek out a priest or other local that might need some sort of assistance. Who knows, perhaps if they're able to do enough good, Manaphy will see fit to answer the foreigner's prayer...

Magikarp Update Set 1

Welcoming Sandaa, Sparkbeat, and ABL into my group! Welcome to the Isles!

Saanda: Your arrival on the Red Beach is nontraditional, to say the least. As you soared across the sea on the back of Aero, the sea mist surrounding you, you looked out across the inlet and the swimmers within. Many people smiled and waved as Aero lifts off from the water and glides above the waves. You even hear one teenager cheer for the display, laughing with his friends. When you reach land once again, the red sand getting stuck in your toes despite your efforts, you look out across the inlet with a closer eye. It seems to be like any other beach, dotted by umbrellas and towels. The water itself seems a bit crowded. With the amount of wild Pokemon that live there, swimmers might be a disturbance, to say the least. The sound of small feet scattering sand below them catches your attention. It shakes you from your sightseeing, as you scan the sand closer to you. You can't help but notice the swarm of 3 kids, not much older than 10 or 11, sprinting towards you followed by a Marill.

"Mister! Mister trainer!" The fastest of the three shouted, a lively young girl wearing a bright pink swimsuit and a towel over her shoulder. She was flanked by another girl and a boy, both wearing yellow swimsuits. The girl also wears a yellow hat, and neither has a towel. They all bounce with excitement, looking up at you with wide eyes and back at each other. The girl in yellow whispers something in the pink girl's ear, glancing at Aero beside you and then looking up at you shyly.

"Is that your Mantine?" The pink girl says, before almost getting knocked over by the boy as a spits out a "Can we pet it?" The two stumble over each other in their excitement, but quickly bounce back up, giggling. The Marill hops forward before the group, looking up at you itself and back to Aero. You've never seen any Pokemon look so defensive, but something about it seems insulted - or at least, jealous. With this small crowd of curious kids before you, what will you do?

Sparkbeat: Guided by the lofty prophecies of your Natu, you take your first steps into the Minnao Isles with some amount of grogginess in your steps. Your trip here has been uneventful. The short walk from the port into downtown New Redford is almost as uninteresting. The simple life here is clear through every little interaction with people. Every building you pass seems plastered with advertisements. You make your way to the fountain sitting in the town square. Fortune had guided you this way - something had told him that there was something important there for you. What it was, he was not able to tell. Regardless, you passed through the small downtown into the stone tiles of the town square.

You take in your surroundings for a moment. The area was mostly filled with peddlers of fishing equipment or tours into the "deepest, most dangerous sections of the island". One in particular, a young man wearing a leather coat despite the weather, taps you on the arm. It hits much harder than needed, trying to get your attention. You flinch from the touch, and you hear him raving about spear-wielding natives who tried to take out his eyes and offer them to their Pelipper effigy. Fortune pulls on you away from the man, informing you that he does not see a bright future with him, and you follow. You got the same vibe from him anyways.

Wandering a bit closer to the fountain, looking at the white stone and flowing, clear waters. In your lone moment of stillness for the past few minutes, you feel a much gentler touch on your shoulder. and you turn to meet a woman no older than 25, wearing a simple t-shirt with a bag slung over her shoulder. She is accompanied by a Porygon2, the sleek duck hovering and barely bobbing. She stutters when she first begins to speak to you. "E-excuse me! I am Indiana Willow. Uh." Indiana says to you, adjusting her posture. "I'm a researcher, here on the Isles, and I jus- I noticed your Natu, and I was wondering if you could help with this one bit of my book, is all." She pulls out a small leather journal and looks back at her Porygon2, who rolls its eyes at its trainer's social struggles. "Are you interested in The Mints, b-by any chance?" She says to you, struggling to appear confident. What will you do?

ABL: Your offering to the Prince of the Sea sits on the stone platform. The sounds of rushing water surround you on most sides as you step away. There's a bit of peace to confronting your pain at this home to the Minnao people. From the vantage point of the Sea Altar, you can see downwards into the rest of the village that lives here. The village stands on the rocky ridges of the mountain behind you. Many houses built from wood have stilts keeping them level on the uneven ground, without disturbing the natural land. You see children playing in the rocky paths above the shallow water, chunks of silver stone rubbed smooth by erosion. You see adults carrying roots and vegetables from gardens in baskets to one another. And finally, you see an old man leaving his simple home, the one closest to the Sea Altar, decorated by the crest of the Minnao above the door frame.

The man looks out across the village much like you do, before looking up to the Sea Altar where you stand. He seems shocked for but a moment, and you're able to take in his appearance a bit more despite the distance. Most here wear simple clothes, from cloth made from cotton, and he matches the rest. The addition of a light blue scarf, stretching across the back of his neck and straight down his sides is noticeable enough. His skin is tan like most Minnao people, and he walks with a wooden staff. He takes a few steps off of the balcony of his home, and starts up the stairs towards you.

His ascent is slow going. He takes steps one at a time, nudging whatever pebbles had landed on the steps to either side, back into the water. Once he makes it to half way up the steps, he takes a bit longer and gives a wave to you and a smile. You can't help but feel that this man is important, yet he stays so friendly.

Once he reaches only a few steps away from you, he speaks in a gentle voice. "Welcome, ma'am. It's a pleasure to have you here." He says, reaching the platform you stand on. He seems a few inches shorter, but it could be the slight hunch to his back. "My name is Holai. Are you lost? We don't see many people like yo-" He begins to say, before seeing the small gift sitting at the altar. His eyes flick to yours, still a bit red. "Or perhaps, you were meant to be here." He smiles, his wrinkled face showing deep pride in you. "Would you like to come in for tea? I'm expecting a visitor, but the more the merrier, as they say." He asks, extending his hand outwards to the side. What will you do?

As he surfed up to the beach on Aero’s back, Gary noticed that he had attracted quite a bit of attention on the shore from many of the beachgoers. Once upon a time he would have shyly hidden in embarrassment, his former self having a strong aversion to being the center of attention. Gary was older now though, and from the jobs that he held during his journey hiatus, he had shed that shyness he used to possess. Standing out still wasn’t something he was totally fond of, but it wasn’t something he fretted over anymore.

Almost instantly after he set foot on the beach, Gary noticed three small children and a Marill running over to him. “Mister! Mister trainer!” they called out, waving their arms. Two young girls and one boy pointed at Aero excitedly. “Is that your Mantine? Can we pet it?” The Marill bristled at losing its place as the object of the children’s affection, but Gary smiled and paid it no heed. “Sure, why not?” he replied, guiding them over to shallow waves that caressed the shore. Aero patiently waited there, semi-beached in the sand. Being a fish, he needed to remain in the water to breath, but he could rest here for a short time at least.

“So this is Aero, the Mantine,” he told the children, a teacher-like quality from his former job coming out. “He may not be able to fly, but he has an eight foot wingspan, from tip to tip. If he gets enough speed, he can leap out of the water and soar in the air for up to over 300 feet!” He smiled and crouched down, petting his Mantine on the back. “Here, give him a pet right here. His skin is like sandpaper but it’s slick too. He might not look like it, but he’s a member of the shark and ray family. Don’t worry though, he doesn’t eat meat. Instead, he feeds on plankton and other small microscopic creatures.” Gary grinned, realizing that he was rambling, and hoped he wasn’t boring the kids to death.

OOC: Thanks for the update and the welcome, Toy! Glad to be here!

ABL takes in the sights around the humble village; everyone seems to be leading an industrious but peaceful life here. It's very calming just to watch them going about their daily business. It's with fascination that ABL notices that their culture and customs, relatively exotic to her, must be all too familiar to these villagers. Probably mundane to some of them, even. Briefly, she allows herself to wonder if life here could be so wholesome, so tranquil as it seems to her fresh eyes. The grass does so often seem to be greener...

Before she can give the subject any more consideration, ABL spots an elderly gentleman approaching the altar. He's walking slowly with a staff - does that mean he has difficulty moving? She decides it's better to not make that assumption. Perhaps the staff is purely ceremonial in its use, and perhaps this man moves slowly because he has patience and wisdom. He clears the steps so deliberately and with such care that the young woman can't help but feel moved.

It isn't until the gentleman waves in greeting that ABL realises she must have been more or less staring as he's made his way towards her. She inwardly reprimands herself for being so impolite. She's unable to think of a way to excuse herself before the stranger speaks to her directly, much to her embarrassment.

"That's, ah, very kind of you," she replies, hoping he didn't pick up on her slight stammer. "Please just call me ABL. It's a pleasure to meet you."

She bows briefly to Holai, not really knowing what the proper etiquette is in this situation and trying to err on the side of being respectful. ABL gestures to the Espeon beside her and adds "Oh, and this is Dreamer. Tea would be lovely, thank you so much. Are you... certain we wouldn't be intruding? I'd hate to be a bother."

Jeri thought he would try that whole peaceful, relaxing trip thing again, this time, making an effort to avoid large crowds and icy caves. Another island adventure seemed like just the ticket, but this time, he would go somewhere properly tropical and properly isolated and ideally not in the throes of an annual festival. And while he wasn't particularly keen on attending any fętes, he decided he could use a little bit of (calmer) culture. Shortly after his arrival, though, he felt a bit unprepared.

"Augh!" he groaned, his shoes filling with water as he unwittingly stepped into the shallows surrounding the Sea Altar. He scrambled back, finding his sneakers to be entirely soaked.

Mumbling angrily to himself, he plopped on the ground and ripped his shoes off. He reached for a Poké Ball, tossing it out to reveal a little humpbacked dromedary, who gave a little sigh once revealed to the world.

"Here, do me a favor, Helen," Jeri said, slapping the wet socks on her back, "Dry these out, please."

The Numel brayed, her little hump glowing as heat radiated through her body. Jeri let them sit for a minute before gingerly flipping them like fillets on a grill. After a few moments, they were bone dry. Next were the shoes, though these didn't quite work as well as the socks would. Jeri wasn't exactly sure how to dry them without Helen inadvertently setting them ablaze. He decided that she could just carry them for now, tying the laces together and draping them over her back.

"Why don't we go see if we can find someone who might lend me some shoes, huh?" Jeri proposes as he got back to his feet, wincing a little as a pebble dug into his sole.

The Numel didn't make any clear response, though she did cock her head to the side a few moments after the fact, perhaps in acknowledgement.

TheKnightsFury: The burly fisherman looks down at you as you gesture towards Jormungand, the Magikarp looking back with wide yet focused eyes, a flickering determination hanging within the body of the weak beast. He seemed uninterested by the rest of your speech, the big man edging past you to walk towards the water. Bending his frame down, he still towers high, his true stature becoming evident. His hand subconsciously scratched at his beard as he scrutinises Jormungand, gingerly running his hands over the scales of the Magikarp. Suddenly standing up, he turns back towards you, a gleam now present in his eyes and a wide grin spreading across his face.

"It's a mighty fine specimen you got here, lad. A tough little scamp, no doubt about it. You say you want ideas for some training, eh? I might have something that could help you out. We can head out onto the lake, if you like. A small word of warning though, Magikarp who evolve too early can be ... unruly. The change is exactly that - and it's drastic."

The man touches a scar on his right arm which you had only just noticed in an absentminded manner, his thoughts seemingly drifting elsewhere for a brief moment before he brings himself back to the present.

"Anyway, a fishing lesson too, eh, laddie? Not asking much, are ya?"

His jovial nature returned in kind, a bellowing warm laugh accompanying his question. Before you can respond in any manner, he walks forwards, clapping you on the back rather forcefully.

"Must admit I like that about a fella though. Names Jackson. Pleased to meet you."

Brave Saix: Having recalled Julian, you make your way towards the port, intending to acquire transportation to the Alloy Atoll. As you finally manage to walk into the main area of the port, you can see your destination in the distance, the floating platform hanging on the horizon. The port itself was bustling with activity, sailors moving here and there bringing in fishing hauls or other exports to be moved around the island. Thankfully though, there are pretty clear signs leading towards the ferry taking trainers towards the Atoll. The research center had recently set up the service to allow trainers enlisted as
helpers easy access to the Atoll itself. Finding a spot on the ferry, it doesn't take long for the modern ship to strike a course to the Atoll, and you disembark to find yourself in a starkly contrasting world.

Wherever your eyes turn, the shiny modern styling of the Atoll hung around you, a chunk of metal hovering in a foreign world of blue. The gentle bustling of the waves below is drowned out by the shouts of scientists running here and there, sharing documents and information about their current fancies. They were all similarly dressed in overbearing white coats and safety goggles ... but one person stands out as strange among the crowd. While he wore the white coat, his underlay clothes were starkly different to the normal, office style attire of the others. A brightly coloured shirt pictured numerous fish Pokemon against a background of nearly iridescent blue, a straw hat hanging on his head. For whatever reason, you felt that this was probably the man you were intended to meet - he certainly fit the description of an eccentric.

MedMana: Having decided that the rapids weren't suited for you, you move further down the riverbank, looking to strike out towards some of the rockier shallows of the river system. You walk for quite some while in your search, the sun hanging high above high in the sky feeling pleasant on your back rather than oppressively hot. Trainers wallow in the slacker areas of the river with their Pokemon, cheering and laughing - the area was generally framed with merriment, clearly a place where many happy bonds had been forged. Finally, you find yourself approaching a rockier area near a large bend in the river. The place was the ideal kind of spot where weary Pokemon would gather to rest their aching bodies, be that languishing in the pleasant beat of the sun or bathing in the shallows of the water.

As you approach though, a cheery laugh strikes your ears, hanging on the air. Turning, you see a young girl running towards you, a wide beaming grin on her face. Her tanned skin identifies her as a native, or at least someone who had spent a long time in the familiar sun of the Minnao Isles, and the way she greets you is polite and endearing. Her eyes were strikingly blue - a similar hue to the much calmer waters of the river in this area of the system. Looking up at you, the young girl extends a hand, pointing towards the rocks which reached into the waters.

"Hey there, are you here to look for Pokemon? I can tell you're a trainer, but you don't seem to be from around here. I can show you some awesome spots if you'd like? I was about to meet up with some of my friends, and you're welcome to tag along!"

The cheery easiness with which she talked to you was almost infectious, and it was clear that her intentions were pure, simply wanting to incorporate someone she had found on their own into her fun and games.

Jerichi: Walking barefoot, your pace somewhat reduced thanks to the slower pace of Helen as she plod alongside you, the rocky terrain surrounding the Sea Altar proves to leave the soles of your feet pettered with small marks where stones had decided to dig in for brief moments of pain. At first, your search for assistance seems to bear little fruit - despite the Sea Altar being a popular place of tourist interest due to the cultural significance of the area on the surroundings isles of Minnao, you find yourself largely alone at the site of worship. A few moments later though, a head rises in the distance, and a monk from the village slowly comes into view. His pale blue robes identified him as a follower of the Minnao faith, the serene colours reminiscent of the sea which accommodated their main beings of worship, Manaphy and Kyogre. As he drew closer, you manage to make out more of the mans features, and realise he can't be much older than yourself. His figure was stalwart, no doubt as a consequence of the manual labour the monks were well known for assisting the villagers of the area with. He stood fairly tall, but not imposingly so, with his head having been shaved of any hair as a means of worship. Noticing you, the monk walks towards you, giving a small bow of his head in greeting. Gesturing towards your sodden shoes, he stifles a small grin.

"I see you've come across some trouble there. If you think you can manage, I can take you to the nearby temple. We will be able to offer you a pair of sandals, much more accustomed for navigating the area. My name is Josiah, by the way."

The monk extends a hand intended to shake, his warm grin inviting and friendly.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow," Jeri chants rhythmically as he walks along the rocky face of the peak, pebbles and jagged edges digging into his feet with every step. He grew more and more desperate for a pair of shoes that weren't soaked. Just his luck, he thought, as his first scan of the area found it devoid of people. Helen was plodding along rather slowly, though he wouldn't have been able to outpace her much as it was.

Just when he was about ready to plop down and hope for a savior to appear, his wish was granted. A man rose from the slope, emerging in a swath of blue fabric that made him appear to rise from the sea. Jeri had heard of the friendly monks that look over the shrine, and his look and demeanor seemed nonthreatening and helpful enough. He stood in place (somewhat awkwardly) as not to further irritate his stinging feet as the monk drew near. The man approaches him, taking notice of his discalced state.

"I see you've come across some trouble there. If you think you can manage, I can take you to the nearby temple. We will be able to offer you a pair of sandals, much more accustomed for navigating the area. My name is Josiah, by the way."

The man extended a hand in greeting, which Jeri took and shook happily.

"Oh Arceus, yes, please, my feet are killing me. I'd really love to see the temple, too - I just hope you don't mind this little one plodding along with us," he says, motioning to Helen. The little Numel cocked her head, braying quietly.

"Thanks Jackson, I know Jormungand is going to evolve into a mighty Gyarados, although I must admit that your warning stirred a little bit of fear within me." Jayson wasn't lying, the idea of Jormungand evolving from a friendly, fun-loving Magikarp into an enraged Gyarados was an issue. Hopefully their bond would develop enough during this training and that would help when it was time to control the Gyarados.

"So how are we getting out onto the lake Jackson? I would assume you have a boat because I doubt I would be able to ride Jormungand out there, at least not yet!"

The region of Fizzytopia was truly a vast one. Even veteran Trainers who have spent the better part of their training careers exploring Fizzytopia were still perfectly capable of finding brand-new places to explore. Case in point, Keith Masters had just gone ashore on the main island of the Minnao Archipelago, a place that until very recently, he'd never even heard of. A Pokémon Trainer of considerable experience, one who has had success in the past in bringing out the fullest potential of his Pokémon. As if to drive home the point about his capabilities as a Trainer, two shiny gems he wore on his person gleamed in the sunlight- the Key Stone set into his trademark cowboy hat, making the Mega Hat an even more invaluable part of Keith's wardrobe than he already considered it prior to this addition, and the Poisonium Z set into the Z-Ring he wore on his left wrist.

Something one generally didn't see with Keith, however, was what he had in his hand- a Fishing Rod, a new one, never before used. He'd have slung it over a shoulder, except both shoulders were already occupied. The right shoulder was occupied by a Meowth. A Normal Form Meowth like any other... until he opened his mouth and spoke up, that is. Keith's Meowth was able to talk, a fact that tended to surprise those unfamiliar with the Poison-type Trainer. And speaking of the Poison type, the other shoulder was occupied by an equally extraordinary Pokémon, except this one's extraordinary qualities were much more visible. Mareanie, after all, weren't usually such vibrant shades of pink, nor did they tend to sparkle with swirling blue stars when sent out of their ball or entering battle, and yet, both of these things held undeniably true for Aster. The Shiny Mareanie glanced around at her surroundings from behind her tentacles, which served to partially hide her face rather like long bangs would hide a young girl's face. She regarded the unfamiliar surroundings with a kind of mixture of nervousness and excitement, only not shying away from the experience altogether because she was in such close proximity to Keith. That, and she needed only look at him to get a reassuring smile in response

"Alright, so, wat's we doin' here anyways?" Meowth asked Keith. "I asked youse fifty times aboard da Banette's Revenge and ya ain't responded once."

"Yeah, well, navigating one's way to an island chain I've never sailed to in my life, that'll have that effect," Keith responded. "Now that we're on dry land and I'm not currently trying to steer a large wooden ship into unfamiliar waters, I'll answer your question- we're going fishing!" he declared.

"...Aaaaand obvious question gets obvious answer," Meowth sighed as he facepalmed (facepawed?), for he hadn't pieced together the very obvious answer when he ought to have- namely, as soon as Keith had produced said Fishing Rod from his backpack. He supposed he was more preoccupied with getting Keith to actually answer him. But that aside, Meowth now had a follow-up question, one with not such an obvious answer, at least not as far as he could see. "So... does youse actually know how ta fish?" Meowth asked.

"Nope," Keith shook his head. "Which brings me to why we're here specifically- word is that a family runs a fishing shack out by Orta Lake, and that they're happy to teach the basics to any fishing noob who comes their way, native or otherwise. Sounds perfect for me."

"...Youse did not seriously just say 'noob'," groaned Meowth, though he raised no objections to the overall plan of action, and so Keith progressed onwards, hoping to add fishing to the list of skills he possessed before long.

Elka had never been fishing in her life. She had hardly left the house when she was a child, but now she had the opportunity to explore such a vast and beautiful land as Fizzytopia. She had bought a fishing rod upon arriving, assuming that she may at one point have some sort of chance to use it. Elka was determined to catch something in order to prove her worth as a fisherman... er, fisherwoman; as well as as a trainer. She had wanted to simply explore the islands, not paying much mind to the locals nor towards the ocean. She hated water, the thought of possibly having to swim for her life upon falling out was terrifying. She could hardly walk, how was she actually suppose to swim her way to the shore?

She approached the vast ocean from one of the many spots on the isle, she had not intended to explore it... but something about the beautiful crystal blue waters had caught her interest. She knew there was no point in going alone so she would have to find someone who would be willing to show her the way and lead her through the vast and beautiful waters. Her service Pokemon, Pascal, was holding her fishing rod in his mouth, trotting proudly in front of his trainer as she held onto his leash for dear life. She certainly wouldn't be hard to spot on her crutches, she stuck out like a fire in the middle of the forest. She glanced around, hoping a fisherman (or woman, no discrimination) would find her and guide her through the deep, beautiful ocean. Maybe teach her how to fish as well...

Liawe arrived at the lake, out of breath from attempting to keep up with Caeda, who'd been soaring and enjoying the air ever since they arrived on Minnao Isles. The steel bird swooped down and landed next to her redheaded trainer, who'd since sat down to catch her breath and rest her legs for a second, while she took in the local sights. A fishing lake, large and hopefully populated, be it with food or Pokemon. Caeda was a hunter, she didn't care. As Liawe got back to her feet, she let Kaitlyn out to experience the scenery, the young Petilil bewildered by the sudden change of scenery before gleefully dashing to the lake for a drink, followed by another dash to look at some pretty flowers nearby. "Calm down Kait, come back over here. Last thing we need is you falling in the lake and me having to have Caeda pull you out." The threat of being carried by the Skarmory was enough to pull the diminutive Grass type back to her trainer's side. "Better. Now, let's find some place to sit, have a snack and start drawing. You both hungry?"

The question elicited an array of reactions. Cheerful chirps from Caeda, who flew up and perched on Liawe's armguard, and a happy little humming from Kaitlyn, who bounced into Liawe's other arm as she crouched to collect the small one. Mostly though, there was an irritated screeching as Hope popped out of her Pokeball and floated ahead of Liawe, clearly miffed at being forgotten. "Sorry, you three hungry? Because there's enough food for four in the pack." Liawe's selfcorrection placated the Shuppet, who grinned before poking her tongue out at Liawe and floated by her side.

Disembarking the boat Sypher found himself off put by just how over done the place seemed. He understood the need for sterility, but the air of formality weighed on him. Finding his soon to be employer and noticing his rather informal attire, he loosed a sign of release. Coming up to the man, Sypher offered his hand. "Do you have a Chinchou hidden somewhere on that masterpiece of a shirt? The name's Sypher Durant, and I am here to help you with your dig."

Magikarp Update Set 2

MM and Iron, you'll be a part of my group. Naru, you'll be with Connor. Welcome to the Isles, you three!

Sandaa: As soon as you give the OK, the kids immediately rush Aero. The boy in yellow takes a seat in front of Aero's head and starts petting his head and mumbling to himself. You try to listen in, but he's talking so softly that all you can catch is "Good Mantine. You swim so good..." The group's Marill seems to be particularly attached to this boy. They sit down next to the boy as well, pushing and nuzzling into his side. You can tell they're obviously trying to get his attention, but the boy seems almost entranced by Aero's rough skin. The girl in pink wades into the water a bit and stands behind Aero, trying to get onto his back. Aero looks uncomfortable, to say the least. You can hear the girl quietly make noise too, making vroom noises. Her hand motions as she stands in the water, her stomach on the back half of Aero, show her piloting Aero across the sea like a car. The thought occurs to you - Aero definitely deserves something for putting up with this mess.

But, the girl in yellow seems much more relaxed. She takes a seat much like her match, sitting next to Aero's wing. She listens intently to you. Her friends have not been doing the same, clearly too distracted with your Mantine. As you talk and gesture to Aero's back, she rubs it gently. It's obvious to you she's trying as hard as she can not to hurt him, and as she touches his back, she flinches a little bit. When you mention sharks, she turns to you and her eyes light up. "Sharks? Like Sharpedo?" She says, mouth wide with excitement. "My dad has one of those! He used to be a trainer, and he's really good! He doesn't let me pet the Sharpedo, though." The girl looks at the ground with her last sentence.

The girl in pink pushes off of Aero with a bit too much force. You hear the Mantine beneath her grunt a little bit. "Yeah! Uncle Bill is so strong! He always beats my dad whenever they battle." She spits out, running over to her cousin, who immediately asks: "Do you think you could beat my dad? He's a really, super good battler. He hasn't battled much in a while, but he's got like, 6 badges from the Hoenn league!" With the gauntlet thrown down by these kids on behalf of their family, what will you do?

Sparkbeat: See Update Set 1.

ABL: Holai nods to Dreamer next to you. "Pleasure to meet the both of you. No need to bow. I am no greater." He says, and bows back to you. "Truthfully, I'd prefer a guest. Anyone who chooses to be here with Manaphy, an outsider no less, might be interested in what my guest has to say. And I'm sure they won't mind. No worry, I assure you." He looks back out at the village. He rolls his shoulders back and adjusts his posture a bit, stretching out before returning to his slight hunch. He glances at the shrine once more and smiles. "Well, come along if you'd like." He starts back down the stairs, and after a step or two in, he turns back to you.

"By the way, what was in that package of yours?" Holai says, and nods to the shrine. You look back to where he gestured. Where you had left your leaf wrapped gift, there is nothing there but the stone pedestal.

The trip down the stairs feels twice as slow as Holai's ascent. You briefly consider passing him, but erring on the side of respect leads you to take your time. You glance at the stairs beneath you and the waters to either side. Dreamer does the same, though a bit more impatiently, rubbing into your legs. She notices a pebble on the step below her and nudges it into the stream to the side. You see a smile on Holai's face.

He leads you into his simple home. There is not much inside. He owns a bed to the corner in the back right, a counter including a few cabinets and a stone basin with a grate on top on the left wall, and a table with two chairs. All but the basin is made of wood, clearly re-purposed from other projects. He gestures for you to take a seat and you do. Dreamer follows beside you. Holai goes to the basin and lights a match from a drawer, setting some sort of wood in the basin ablaze. He pulls out a kettle, draws some water from what seems to be a trapdoor leading to a stream below, and sets it to boil. As he does this, he talks across the room to you. "I'd like to thank you for being so respectful to the Altar. Not all outsiders are, and since they've begun to visit Cordina's Peak, I've spent a bit more time on cleaning and repairs." He leaves the kettle on the grate, the flames licking at the dull metal, and Holai takes a seat at the table with you. "If you don't mind answering, why have you come to the Altar?" He speaks even softer and gentler than before. You weren't quite sure that was possible. His eyes are small and black from where you sit, but full of emotion. "Manaphy's heart is open to all, and if you are struggling with connecting with another person or Pokemon, he is certainly the one to talk to." Holai folds his hands under his chin. "But it's just so very rare to see someone care about our culture or patron." There is a sadness to his voice. There is no threat to his words, but he seems so confused. With the question posed to you, what do you do?

Missingno. Master: You make your way from the port farther in land, to Orta Lake with help from a few settlers on the island. Most comment on your Meowth's speech or Aster's colors. Wne or two make a snide remark towards Meowth about how maybe he could "fix the bond between Pokemon and people" like the natives say. Finger quotes included, of course. But as a whole, they are generally helpful and get you where you need to go. You journey onto a lightly forested path. You stay there until a large, open clearing of grass stretches out before you, and even then you can still see the lake stretch out for at least a mile or two. The blue water calls to you and your fishing rod.

You're able to easily find the fishing shack. It's a simple wooden building a few yards from the waterfront. As far as you can tell, it's the only proper building on this side of the lake. Occasionally, you see tents and small docks set up around the outer edge, but nothing permanent. Assuming this is what you're looking for, you approach. You don't see much on the porch a sign sitting on their front door that says "Ruddson's Fishing Shack." Apparently, this is the place. You open the door and enter, and you're met by a rustic establishment, with cushioned, tacky-patterned chairs sitting on most sides. Two people handling some fishing supplies stand behind the counters.

The man behind the counter is digging through a classic tackle box, bright orange and all. He seems of average height, with tan skin and salt and pepper hair and a goatee. He looks over to the woman to his left, who's sorting through a giant stack of rolls of fishing line. She has brown skin and dark, shoulder length hair. Both are wearing orange baseball caps with an R on the front, and they both look to be in their late 30s or early 40s. The man speaks up to the woman. "Hon, did you see those extra Wishiwashi lures? I'm not sure where they could've gone..." He pulls out a yellow tackle, and looks it over.

"Nope. Maybe those kids took them out on the water?" The woman says, placing up another roll on a shelf. As she turns around, she notices you and goes to tap on the man's shoulder. "Uh, Jack." You notice a necklace hanging from her neck, a wooden circle with a symbol you can't quite recognize. She doesn't look like any of the settlers or tourists you've seen on your way here.

"Jeeze, I hope no- Oh! Sorry man, didn't see you there." The man says as he finally looks . He fixes his hat and greets you. "Hey! The name's Jack, Jack Ruddson. How can we help you today?" Jack closes up the tackle box he was working on and the woman beside him starts moving the fishing line below the counter. With your destination reached, what will you do?

Ironthunder: Your first priority upon reaching the lake has been establishing a little picnic for your team. Your Pokemon gather around for food, and you have a quick snack as you prep drawing materials and all. A little time passes, and you've been drawing for most of it, keeping an eye out for your Pokemon. You have a decent piece in your sketchbook. There's a pencil sketch of the scenery around you, plus a few doodles of the flowers Kait, was looking at before on another page. The main attraction before you gives plenty of inspiration. A small bit of grassland makes up the foreground as the earth sinks into the water, which is large and expansive, covering at least a square mile or two. Caeda was completely right in believing there had to be some sort of prey out there. To your right, you can see two mountains stretching into the sky. The land slowly slopes down from their left across and behind the lake, miles away from where you sit. It's a beautiful place to be.

As you've been drawing, your Pokemon have been generally peaceful. Your Skarmory has been by your side for the most part, watching the waters for signs of motion to snatch her own food. Hope has hovered near by as well. But Kait, your curious Petlil, has wandered towards the water's edge once again. Before you can warn her to come back, you hear the sound of rushing water. The surface of the water is suddenly disturbed. Your Petlil quickly moves backwards, spinning about as she tries to shake off something. She shakes vigorously and looks towards you. She's soaking wet! With something certainly afoot with Orta Lake, what do you do?

The journey to Orta Lake was assisted largely by some of the settlers on the island. Some of them did indeed have a thing or two to say regarding Meowth's ability to speak, or the fact that Aster was Shiny (which unfailingly caused the Mareanie to blush every time). There were the odd snide remarks about Meowth, but in general, they were helpful people, and they gave Keith a very good first impression of the Minnao Archipelago.

"Ahh, this must be the place," Keith grinned, spotting the fishing shack. A simple wooden building not far from the water, and as near as he could see, the only proper building in the area. As he approached, he saw further evidence that this was the place- a sign on the door naming the place as Ruddson's Fishing Shack. This was indeed the place, and with that, he entered.

The interior of the fishing shack had a rustic appearance to it, and more to the point, two people were behind the counter. They didn't notice Keith right away, and thus were going on about missing fishing lures or something. The woman was the first one to notice Keith, and she got the man's attention, Jack being his name. Finally, Jack noticed Keith as well, and introduced himself properly as Jack Ruddson. He greeted Keith, asking how they could help him.

And Keith knew exactly how. "Well, I recently got this Fishing Rod here," he said, indicating the Fishing Rod in his hand. "And... well, I don't know the first thing about fishing," he admitted sheepishly. "I don't suppose you might be willing to teach me a thing or two?" he asked. "I'm Keith, by the way. Keith Masters. This here is Meowth, and this is Aster," he added, introducing his Pokémon.

"Hey," Meowth greeted Jack Ruddson.

"...reanie..." Aster murmured shyly.

"The Mints, huh?" Tate mused, as they disembarked the small motorboat the trainer had hired to lift them to the islet chain. Kai stretched, stiff from the ride, and yawned. She began lazily sniffing around the beach as her trainer consulted a map, trying to figure out exactly where they were. It was advised that they have a guide if they visited the Mints, but Tate was having none of it; so little of the world was left unexplored, and this was a golden opportunity to truly discover something new. With the help of a compass, Tate was eventually fairly certain of roughly where they had landed -- though who was to say if this 'certainty' was accurate -- and stashed the map away in one pocket of the bright salmon cargo shorts which were characteristic of the flamboyant 20-something. Adjusting the weight of the overstuffed backpack which was a constant burden, Tate whistled for the lazily wandering Vaporeon.

"So we have twelve hours until the boat returns," the trainer relayed, when Kai was present and attentive. "Let's see what we can find in that time, yeah? And let's try not to miss our ride back to the big island."

Kai glanced at the forest line at the edge of the beach, perhaps a bit warily, and snorted. She wasn't keen on trekking through the jungle, but it wasn't as though she had the choice; she was stuck with Tate's mercurial whims, for better or worse. Besides, if she didn't keep an eye on the trainer, who knew what would happen! Celebi knew Tate was a magnet for trouble.
