There is ample evidence that in prehistory, humans with injury disabilities were cared for and supported by their kin in stark contrast to how animals treat the same. Empathy was evolutionary selected for and is instinctive to humans.

Prejudice against disability and eugenics as it were evolved with economics and society, i.e. as humans became better able to support them.

Jaguars and coyotes are essentially unchanged since the Ice Age - they're the same species, just slimmed down to fit new niches.

The primary food of the jaguar is the capybara, because tapirs are actually too large and tough for them to take down.

Tigers also have trouble with tapirs due to a thick hide behind their neck that makes them difficult to subdue with a bite.

So I was rewatching Cowboy Bebop recently because I wanted to have some joy in my life and remembered watching a documentary about it on YT, but couldn't find it again. But apparently the same facts are on Wikipedia now.

Cowboy Bebop was originally started as a way for Bandai to launch a spaceship toy/model line. Bandai Toys went to Sunrise and asked them to make a sci-fi series with space ships in it. Sunrise asked what it should be about and Bandai replied "Anything with spaceships is fine."

Unfortunately that wasn't actually fine when the first few episodes were shown to Bandai. As the show's ships were all basically junkers kitbashed into being used as fighting vehicles, they weren't really usable as a toyline. Bandai Toys abandoned the product until Bandai (Anime division) decided to just keep funding it.

After coming up with a basic concept of a science fiction western, music was the first thing done. They hired Yoko Kanno as composer and she finished composing very quickly. After finishing though, she would randomly show up at the offices and state she had more music, this being very unprofessional in Japanese business culture. Her enthusiasm and wild behavior as well as amazing talent inspired the production and they used that as the basis for the character of Ed. Luckily Sunrise was relaxed enough to accept her new works rather than blowing her off.
