So basically, how you were with Yu-Gi-Oh earlier this year?

Not at all, I still have nowhere near the amount of enthusiasm for Magic I did then for YGO. The enthusiasm I did have is dead now, and that's pretty much because it really is a completely different game than it used to be, and I just got very tired of playing the same exact deck against completely different random people (who aren't from UPN)
As for Magic... it was more of a slow process that continues to build. I would compare how I feel about Magic now to how Talon felt about YGO then. Maybe a bit more enthused. /shrug |

I feel the tug to return to Magic every now and then, especially since I've mostly filled out my Legion of Everblight with everything I would realistically want to own, I'm perpetually waffling on starting a mercenary army, and my desire to build a 40k army is perpetually stalled by the knowledge that GW is run by douchenozzles and painting large amounts of infantry makes me hate myself. On the other hand, it was pretty humbling to go through my collection last year and see how the vast majority of my cards weren't worth bothering with to try and trade in for cash.

After the Elder Dragon Highlander game with Loki/Talon, a lot of my interest in Magic died when I realized that so much of the game is now market driven first, with creativity coming second. It's a bit ironic given MTG was always envisioned to be the cheapest TCG game and had the slowest power creep with a strict balancing agency in the DCI.
I've grown to hate Magic ever since Hasbro bought Wizards. Not the old cards, but the new cards released that force me into a certain style of play. I was never a fan of swapping decks to beat opponents, what I loved best was swapping strategies. I disagree a lot with VGM - of the three big TCGs we've looked at, YGO has changed very little since the Synchro era started in 2008. Of course the game before the Synchro era was very different, but Magic went through several revolutions even during my time, and the current incarnation that focuses on speed and power isn't much different from new Pokemon TCG and YGO. Granted, I still think MTG is fundamentally the best TCG and always has had the potential for a return to greatness, but not in the Hasbro era. Quote:
I remember that game from 8th Grade. There were mushrooms, I think?
