Eddie glanced around nervously. He was far from the only one taking on this Appletun, and right now, even knowing how strong Hermione was, he couldn't help but feel a bit foolish, bringing a Weedle into such a battle against such a powerful opponent, while his allies were bringing Pokémon like Tropius, a Togetic and Togekiss, a Muk, a Scizor, a Seviper... It was more than a little intimidating, Eddie couldn't deny. Maybe as intimidating as the Gigantamax Appletun itself. And yet, as they prepared to tackle the behemoth, it was Eddie who felt a strange energy flow into his Dynamax Band. "Wh... me?" he murmured.
"Weedle! Weedle Weedle!" Hermione called back to her Trainer. Eddie looked at Hermione, saw how resolute she looked. She wasn't intimidated by the situation, Eddie knew, and being real, he knew she was justified in this. Eddie nodded. "If you're certain, then I trust you," he stated, gripping Hermione's Poké Ball in his right hand. "All right, then," he added, holding out the sphere and withdrawing the Hairy Bug Pokémon. "Let the energy flow forth..." he murmured as the Dynamax Energy flowed out of the Dynamax Band and into the Poké Ball. "...let it bring forth our true strength!" he declared as the Poké Ball reacted to the Dynamax Energy, growing and changing in appearance until it looked like a Premier Ball the size of an Electrode. "And now, Hermione... time to glitch out... and DYNAMAX!!!" he finished, wheeling around and heaving the engorged ball into the air. What happened next was nothing short of spectacular to behold. Hermione reappeared, growing larger... and larger... and LARGER! Until she towered over her allies, big beady eyes fixed on the Grass/Dragon-type before her. "WEEEEEEEEEDLE!" she boomed, her voice rumbling like thunder as a trio of red clouds slowly moved in a circle above her. As Hermione had grown, so too had Eddie's confidence, seeing his Pokémon as the one who got to Dynamax here. Eddie turned back to face Appletun, adjusting his glasses as he gave a confident grin. Something about Dynamaxing Hermione, it was working wonders for his confidence. No longer was Hermione among the smallest and weakest-looking Pokémon of this bunch, after all. And Eddie... part of his cryptopokology studies involved reading up on Dynamax, in the hopes of discovering the true origin of the phenomenon. At this moment, it was all still inconclusive, but he hoped that, win or lose, this would provide him with some insight on that matter. But more relevant to the matter at hand, Eddie had read up on Max Moves. He knew of their types, of their helpful side effects, which ones his own Pokémon would be capable of... and as it happened, Hermione had a number of helpful tricks up her proverbial sleeve. He discarded the obvious choice- its side effect would be too harmful to everyone fighting this thing, Hermione herself included. Besides, from what he knew of Appletun, it could very well have an Ability that would take the edge off such a move anyway. No, Eddie had another Max Move in mind. Taking a deep breath, Eddie shouted his command loud and clear; "USE! MAX! OOOOOOOOZE!!!" Hermione Dynamaxed and used Max Ooze (95 BP; Base move is Gunk Shot) |

Here Jake was, back at the Twisted Roots Gym again. Just a while ago, he had helped fight off a Dynamaxed Decidueye, and now the Gym needed his help again. With his trusty Seviper in tow, he had gone as fast as he could to the Max Gym Raid Battle.
The source of the trouble towered over everyone. It was a giant apple-like creature. Jake quickly noticed that they had a full house of eight Trainers now. Seems like they really were determined to take this thing down! Speaking of which, what was this Pokémon called anyway? Jake pulled out his Pokédex, Seviper anxiously...sitting? standing? wavering?...beside him. Appletun, Gigantamax form. A Grass- and Dragon-type. It blasts its opponents with massive amounts of sweet, sticky nectar, drowning them under the deluge. "Oh, Gigantamax!" Jake exclaimed. "I've heard of it! It's when some Pokémon change form when they Dynamax, gaining access to a special G-Max Move! I believe Appletun's G-Max Move is G-Max Sweetness?" He checked his Pokédex. "Yes! I was right." "Anyway," he put his Pokédex away and turned to Seviper, "we'd better get moving. Look, the Togetic used Nasty Plot...oh, yes! The Tropius used Toxic! How did they know we had Venoshock under our belt?" He called to Tropius's Trainer, "You're a genius!" Now the Gigantamax Boss was badly poisoned, the status condition slowly chipping away at its health. Suddenly, with a great shout, another Trainer activated his Dynamax Band, letting his Weedle grow to giant size! "Wow!" said Jake. "That Weedle actually looks powerful! It has a black tail stinger, too..." "Vipa, Sevipa!" Seviper agreed. As the Weedle's Trainer ordered a Max Ooze, the mighty Bug- and Poison-type struck the ground with its tail stinger, prompting pillars of potent poison to rise up from the ground and swallow the Appletun briefly. The attack subsided, leaving all the raiders with a Special Attack boost. "Nice job!" Jake complimented the Weedle's Trainer. He turned back to his own Pokémon. "Seviper, now that we have a boost, we must attack!" "Sevipa!" objected the Fang Snake Pokémon. "What?" asked Jake. Seviper just hissed and pointed with his tail blade at a Muk belonging to another Trainer. The living pile of sludge fired an Acid Spray at the Appletun, greatly weakening its Special Defense. "All the better!" Jake shrugged. "Seviper, I think we're ready to attack with the boosts we got! Let's go!" Seviper nodded, giving his okay. "Good!" said Jake. "Seviper, use Venoshock, now!" Jake pointed at the Gigantamax Boss. "Sssevipaa!" Seviper gave a loud battle cry as he leaped into the air, spewing globs of poisonous liquid from his mouth. They splashed onto the surface of the Appletun, glowing a menacing bright purple for a moment before being absorbed into the giant Pokémon's body. Satisfied, Seviper landed back on the ground and slithered back towards Jake, stopping at the ready in front of the Trainer. ~~~ (OOC: Seviper uses Venoshock (65 BP) while the Gigantamax Boss Appletun is poisoned. (Venoshock’s Base Power doubles when the target is poisoned.))

After everyone attacked, Jake watched as all the stat changes, along with Appletun's bad poison, disappeared with a massive shockwave. Thankfully, it did no damage, but now the raiders couldn't rely on the stat changes anymore to do lots of damage. And finally, the gigantic apple worm slammed the ground, causing a wave of dirt to ripple all around it. It struck the Scizor and the Dynamaxed Weedle, and Jake also saw that it had aimed at the Noibat and Togetic. Of course, Noibat and Togetic were Flying-types. They'd have no problem dealing with a Ground-type move like Bulldoze. Thank goodness the Bulldoze hadn't hit Seviper or the Muk, after all, Poison-types like them two were weak to Ground-type moves.
Once again, the Tropius used Toxic, badly poisoning the Gigantamax Boss, which paved the way for Jake and Seviper to attack. "Now's our chance, Seviper!" Jake called. "Venoshock again!" He was aware that the Appletun might be close to raising its shields, but it was best if they did that earlier, so that the others could break some shields. Upon Jake giving the order, Seviper leaped into the air again and launched some more poisonous globs from his mouth, which splattered onto the Raid Boss, glowing a slimy purple color for a few seconds before being absorbed, just like last turn when the Fang Snake Pokémon used the move. This time, though, the attack would do less damage than when Seviper used it before, but that was only because there were no stat changes to help him out this time around. (OOC: Once again, we will take advantage of the Gigantamax Boss Appletun's poisoned status with a Venoshock, which is more powerful when the target is poisoned. (65 BP))

Giant worms and poison apples... I feel like we're in some sort of fairy tale. They say fairies dislike iron, so let's see if a SILVER WIND (60 BP) works~

Excited though Eddie was, he nevertheless kept as level a head as he could, and continued to analyze the situation. Not only for his research, but also to ensure he didn't slip up and cost them the battle. This was, after all, more than just a research opportunity, he reminded himself- this was a powerful opponent that had to be subdued before it could wreak any sort of real, dire havoc. But near as Eddie could tell, he and the others were doing pretty well. And before long, he knew, Appletun would be throwing up an imposing, powerful barrier out of desperation.
"We need to time this just right," he murmured. "One-hit knockout moves and Max Moves- those make the largest impact on these sorts of barriers. Every little bit will help, after all." He glanced up at Hermione, but the wumbo Weedle was eyeing Appletun intently, seemingly waiting for the same thing her Trainer was. Eddie therefore turned back to the Appletun, just in time to see the humongous creature erecting a massive, imposing barrier as a result of the oncoming attacks. "WEEEEDLE!" thundered Hermione as this happened. Eddie nodded. "I agree completely, Hermione!" he declared, adjusting his glasses as he took a deep breath. "USE! MAX! STEELSPIIIIIIIIIKE!!!" he bellowed. This wouldn't power up everyone present, but then, Eddie knew, Max Ooze wouldn't have its effect anyway because of the shield. It didn't even matter how powerful the Max Move was for the purposes of trying to break through the shield- as far as it was concerned, a Max Move was a Max Move. It didn't even matter whether or not it was super effective. So, he figured, he might as well shoot for a little variety. OOC: Hermione used Max Steelspike (120 BP; base move is Smart Strike). |

Appletun was taking damage by the... well, by the tun. Shortly into this onslaught, it erected a formidable barrier before it. But Eddie had figured into that, and had held off on giving Hermione a command until she was in a position to smash through said shield with a Max Move. And finally, they had worn down the barrier to the point where two good attacks could smash through it.
Hermione looked down at her Trainer. "WEEDLE! WEEDLE WEEDLE!" she thundered urgently. Eddie jumped, suitably startled by this, but very quickly realized what Hermione was getting at. "Ah, yes! Of course!" he nodded. "H-hold up!" he called to the other Trainers. "Hermione and I will finish off this shield, then you can attack the Appletun directly!" Hermione couldn't help but give a (relatively) small smile here. Eddie wasn't quite the experienced and talented Trainer that Keith Masters was, but she saw a lot of potential in him. Moreover, she had great respect for Eddie's intellect, as did he for hers. There were times when she wondered whether leaving Keith's team and joining Eddie's was the right move to make, even if this didn't impact her family's ability to see her on a regular basis, but it was moments like these that made it easy for her to believe that she made the right move. And speaking of the right move, with the perfect moment at hand and no time to waste, Eddie adjusted his glasses, took a deep breath, and bellowed out the command that would be the downfall of Appletun... 's barrier. Not quite as dramatic as being Appletun's downfall, but meh, they'd take what they could get for the moment. "USE! MAX! WYRMWIIIIIIIIIIIIND!!!" bellowed Eddie. OOC: Hermione used Max Wyrmwind (130 BP; Base move is Dragon Claw). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 03-13-2020 at 05:41 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Jake watched as the Gigantamax Boss fired its attacks. He wasn't really paying attention until Seviper hissed in pain, having been struck by an Earthquake attack. The Max Wyrmwind from before that had impacted him too, lowering his Attack power, but Jake and Seviper didn't need to worry about that. The only attack Seviper would use right now was the special attack Venoshock.
"Oh, no!" Jake cried. "It's super effective, and the Muk was hit too!" To make things worse, Seviper and Muk were the only grounded Pokémon that were hit by the Earthquake. Exactly what Jake hadn't wanted. He must have jinxed it last round, by thinking that the two Poison-types were lucky for not being hit by the move. As the Appletun raised its shields, the others immediately broke through some of them, but not enough. There were three shields still left. Fortunately, just then, Togetic and Weedle promptly broke through the remaining shields, leaving an opportunity for Seviper to attack. Well, that was fast, Jake thought to himself. He knew what to do now. "Now's our chance!" the Trainer declared. "Give 'em a Venoshock! We can't let up!" "Sssevipaaa!" Seviper called, as he released more of the poisonous stuff at the Raid Boss. He and the Muk were really taking advantage of the Gigantamax Boss Appletun's bad poison, what with the Venoshocks, which doubled in damage on a poisoned target, and the poison damage that increased over time. Maybe if everyone gave it their best shot, the raiders could push the Raid Boss to its next shield threshold. (OOC: I think you can figure out the deal by now. Venoshock boosted by the target's poison it is, for a base power of 65!)
