Also: I wonder if they have some sort of reward planned for the first n people to beat the boss node. 'Cause otherwise no one in their right mind should volunteer to waste resources on scouting out the event Day 1. You should wait to see what others say. But if everyone were to follow this logic, then there'd be no "others" to speak of! So I wonder: how does DMM/Kadokawa motivate people to play early? Is it just reliance upon "FIRST! X3" childish bragging rights? Or do they incentivize early playing by offering rewards to those who are among the first to clear the node? "The first 1,000 people to clear the boss node get a 20" Hoppo-chan plushie." If only ...

I'd think you'll have the stronger players who scout with Easy Mode, building up to the boss node and mapping out the place, then moving onto Normal Mode then go full force with Hard Mode. Sure, it's tedious, but a lot of people at the high end have more than a million of every resource at that point. And also way more buckets than we can imagine. I for one will probably still be working on levelling my girls because good grief Emi levels way too fast.

From what I know, the people who scout events are mostly veteran players who have a ton of resources to begin with and so can scout with little worries, and henceforth do it for other players like myself who will have a hard time of things. From what I know there isn't any incentive but people do want to get the new ships as quickly as possible too. I imagine its a mix of First! bragging rights and selfless desire to help other people out.

Hey, this thread exists! The more you know.
I might actually make some kind of contribution here in the future, who knows. All I want to know is how long it took Spark to type that entire fleet/reserves thing. Nerd.

Brace for impact! Who shall be the first one out of our three intrepid admirals to clear this monster of a first event map?!
Stay tuned to find out! Kamen stream may be happening on Saturday/Sunday depending on schedule and information discovered about E-1 Medium. Our bodies are not Reggie. |

So I just cleared E-2 on Hard! The last thing I told myself I was going to do was rush into the event on the first day...and here I've done it, cleared two stages, and come out of it with the wonderful Katsuragi.
Fleet 1: Level 75 Kirishima Kai Ni (2x 41cm Main Gun, Type 21 Air RADAR, Type 0 Seaplane) Level 75 Kongou Kai Ni (Prototype 46cm Main Gun, 35.6cm Main Gun, Type 21 Air RADAR, Seaplane) Level 78 Souryuu Kai Ni (Type 52 Fighter, Skilled Type 21 Fighter, Type 52 Fighter, Suisei) Level 77 Hiryuu Kai Ni (Type 52 Fighter, Type 97 TB Tomonaga, Type 52 Fighter, Saiun) Level 50 Akagi Kai (Type 52 Fighter, Skilled Type 21 Fighter, Ryuusei, Suisei) Level 50 Kaga Kai (Type 52 Fighter, Type 52 Fighter, Shiden Kai-2, Suisei) Fleet 2: Level 50 Atago Kai (20.3cm Main Gun, 15.5cm Secondary, Searchlight, Quad Oxygen Torpedo) Level 51 Ooi Kai Ni (2x 15.5cm Yellow Gun, Quad Oxygen Torp) Level 70 Tenryuu Kai (2x 15.5cm Yellow Gun, Quad Oxygen Torp) Level 75 Maya Kai Ni (25mm Concentrated, 12.7mm HA, 20.3cm #2 Main, Type 21 Air RADAR) Level 60 Shigure Kai Ni (2x Quad Oxygen Torp, Damecon) Level 55 Yuudachi Kai Ni (2x 10cm HA, Damecon) Spoiler: show Buckets Used: 42 Resources Spent: 4536 Fuel / 3430 Ammo / 4113 Steel / 3158 Bauxite PHEW! That was an experience! I was a little unsure how prepared I was for Hard, but for the most part it wasn't that bad. I had some bad instances with luck, and I finally equipped my DDs with Damecons because they were constantly being knocked into the red by the double Ru-Class Flagship Node, only to never hit critical again. It was a bit resource intensive so I'm not moving onto E-3 today, but this was amazing fun and tense, and I spent about where I figured I would, even on buckets XD. Getting Katsuragi, Kumano, and Hayashimo all in one day? I love events EDIT: Spoiler: show Katsuragi in the Lair of Temptation fufufufufu

So, I didn't keep nearly as good a record of what I used as Emi did, but I did come out of E-1's boss node with an Ooyodo drop and E-2's boss node with a Kiyoshimo drop. I think I used a total of about 35 Buckets or so, but somehow my resources only dropped by like, 1k or 2k. I've cleared E-2 3 times, and should be able to clear it 3 more times tomorrow, all on Medium difficulty.
Also, it may have just been me, but I only found myself getting either Class Name Ships or Starter Ships from the nodes leading up to Boss Node on E-2 when a ship decided to drop. E-1 followed pretty much the same trend, actually.

E-1 Boss Node drops S rank: Urakaze and OH! YODO!
Will try to finish off E-1 Medium by the end of the night, and maybe start on E-2 to see who I'm up against. My girls are so not Reggie. |

Just finished E-3 Medium, it started out really easy and then I got trolled over and over and over again. Especially by Light Cruiser Oni. Jeez she was a pain in the butt.
Level 75 Hiei Kai Ni (Prototype 46cm gun, Dazzle 35.6cm gun, Type 22 RADAR, seaplane) Level 38 Furutaka Kai (2x 15.5cm Main Guns, Type 22 RADAR, seaplane) Level 27 Tone Kai (15.5cm main gun, 20.3cm #2 main gun, Type 22 RADAR, seaplane) Level 53 Yuubari Kai (2x 20.3cm Main Gun, Type 3 Sonar, Type 3 Depth Charge) Level 51 Junyou Kai (Shiden Kai2, Skilled Type 21, Ryussei, Saiun) Level 43 Yukikaze Kai (Quint O2 Torp, Quad O2 Torp, Passive Sonar) Spoiler: show Buckets Used: 32 Resources Spent: 1691 Fuel / 1475 Steel / 1293 Ammo / 57 Bauxite This wasn't hard, it was random crits, subs strikes, and Light Cruiser Oni deciding to go on a rampage (didn't help every time I met her, there was a Green T-Cross and Hiei didn't attempt to hit her once). I'm glad I didn't shiplock any important girls and I got Iku and Naganami out of it (and like every other sub under the rainbow). No Tokitsukaze, I am sads. Hitting E-4 Medium now. I'm breezing through it which is a bad sign of things to come.

So I said I was going to do E-4 tomorrow. I lied to myself and I'm glad I did. I had very few problems on this map in Medium, which honestly surprised me. Node B is very easy since there isn't anything stronger surface wise than an To-Class Elite and Maya's AACI handled the Wo-Class Flagship. Node E has two Ta-Class Elite, but the formation is Diamond formation so they almost never hit and definitely never do damage. I got a flawless victory a couple times against that node, it was cake for me.
My Fleet Set-up Was: Level 77 Kirishima Kai Ni (Prototype 46cm Main Gun, 35.6cm Main Gun, Type 3 Shell, seaplane) Level 76 Kongou Kai Ni (2x Dazzle Camo 35.6cm Main Gun, Type 3 Shell, seaplane) Level 78 Souryuu Kai Ni (Type 52 Fighter, Skilled Type 21 Fighter, Ekusa Squad. Type 99 DB, Suisei) Level 77 Hiryuu Kai Ni (Type 52 Fighter, Shiden Kai 2, Type 52 Fighter, Suisei) Level 75 Ryuujou Kai Ni (Type 52 Fighter, Skilled Type 21 Fighter, Suisei, Saiun) Level 51 Hiyou Kai (Skilled Type 99 DB, Type 62 Fighter-Bomber, 601 Suisei, Type 52 Fighter) I went with 2 FBB, 2 CV, and 2 CVL. The CVL would cut down on costs and made sure I still had Akagi and Kaga on the side for the E-5, plus they helped out immensely towards AS. Hiryuu and Souryuu were the best CVs I had and I needed their evasion mainly. Kirishima and Kongou were my best FBBs, Kirishima being my strongest BB in general so that with the Type 3 Shell, she could seriously damage Harbour Water Oni. The Carrier Task Force has the best route, BFEM, and I had 286 AS total, which was enough to guarantee Air Superiority in both the initial and the final form. I knew I couldn't get AS+ even with my 4CVs, so this was the best route for me. Fleet 2: Level 71 Tenryuu Kai (2x 15.5cm Main Guns, 15.5cm Secondary Gun) Level 57 Yuudachi Kai Ni (2x 10cm HA, Searchlight) Level 62 Shigure Kai Ni (3x 10cm HA) Level 51 Suzuya Kai (15.5cm Main Gun, 20.3cm #2 Main Gun, Type 3 Shell, seaplane) Level 53 Ooi Kai Ni (OTO 152mm Secondary Gun, 15.5cm Secondary Gun, Midget Subs) Level 75 Maya Kai Ni (20.3cm Main Gun, 12.7cm HA, 25mm Concentrated Deployment, Type 21 RADAR) I'm sad I couldn't use 3 CAs in a Carrier Task Force, because I would have. They are easily the MVPs of any night battle with the boss node. Suzuya at one point hit for 300 damage exact, and she typically hit in 120-180 damage range with her double attack, so she contributed to pretty much all the night battle damage. Tenryuu I put in because she was my highest level CL and my waifu. Tried to stack as much accuracy on her and it worked somewhat, I noticed I was hitting a lot more with the support fleet now than I was in E-2, where they almost never hit. Yuudachi and Shigure were my best DDs and they did pretty much crap, even when Shigure got a cut-in it only did like 12 damage. I tried the anti-installation weapon with Shigure but it was pretty much garbage. I don't recommend it although if someone has had better luck with it I'd like to know how XD. Ooi didn't do too much damage at night either but was really critical in the daytime like most CLTs are. Maya contributed the AACI which is always welcome but did very little else. But AACI is probably needed for the boss node. Spoiler: show Buckets used: 16 Resources Spent: 2425 Fuel / 2590 Ammo / 1415 Steel / 1148 Bauxite I didn't get any notable drops, but Littorio is her own reward Also, a treat for Talon so he can see his little Harbour Hime all grown up. Spoiler: show

Is Harbor Water Demon / 港湾水鬼 the same person as Harbor Princess / 港湾棲姫 just wearing different clothes and being reclassified from a land base to an aviation battleship? They look otherwise identical. The Water Demon's claws look like the Princess's with her gauntlets taken off. The other physical features -- face, hair style, breasts, horn -- all look about the same. I see some people calling the Water Demon the Princess's sister while I see others calling her the Princess herself having undergone a change. If I didn't know what others were thinking I'd be inclined towards the latter myself. But which is it? Do we have any official confirmation, or is this going to be something almost entirely decided by the fans?

There isn't any official confirmation, but my own headcanon is that Water Demon is the next rung up on the Abyssal Hierarchy, going from Demon -> Princess -> Water Demon. Also Harbour is still a Land Base, the wiki might say otherwise but its wrong on that front.

See, I don't see the Demon and Princess forms as different people either -- they're the same exact person to me, just at different levels of boss rage / can of whoop ass -- so like you I acknowledge the progression but unlike you I would rather think of it as the same person just evolving to the next level rather than it being an entirely different shipgirl.
Twitter suggests a fandom split on this point. Sadly for me, the ratio seems to be 2:1 in favor of the sisters theory, with those fans interpreting Princess as people shy and polite and Water Demon as coarser and bolder. Personally though I'd rather see them as the same person. This goes for another of the Water Demons I saw too. If fans weren't considering Demons and Princesses to be distinct individuals then I don't see why they should start thinking that way now with Water Demons. Oh well. 'Ll just have to root for my interpretation to win out in the end.

Yeah I think its the same shipgirl as well to be honest. But I can see them being sisters too, since Water Demon just seems so...gigantic compared to Harbour Hime.

While I was at the Mitsuwa near NYC a few weeks ago, I spotted some figures from this series. Well, I had no idea about the series, but I thought it was interesting to see plastic war ship toys with anime girls on them haha. I just found out it was even a thing last week when my friend showed me the anime, and after watching a couple episodes of that I think that playing the browser game rendition of it would be pretty awesome. I would love to try to join soon, if even possible (with the lottery obstacle and everything).

Doing the lottery part itself is easy, its fooling DMM that's a little complicated. I don't have the instructions myself but I can get them for you if you wish.

So after much debating with myself, I've decided to get back into this game and get farther than the second stage. Any tips for a noob?

1. Don't blow your resources. Blowing your resources on spam building or, if you unlock it, Large Scale Construction, early in the game is a serious mistake. You generally want to be under your soft cap at all times to take advantage of passive regeneration. You should do the construction dailies using the absolute most basic recipes possible (Ship Construction using 30/30/30/30 and equipment using 10/10/10/11.). One benefit of the ship construction recipe is that it will give you a good amount of CLs with a chance of Yuubari and Kitakami, both of who are good CLs.
2. Focus on unlocking your third and fourth fleets. This is one by doing the quest that requires the entire Sendai-class, the entire Myoukou-class, and the entire Kongou-class. Opening more fleets means having more expeditions which means getting resources at a much greater rate than before. 3. World 1-5 is great for newer Admirals. It's the best place to train Destroyers and Light Cruisers, while also giving you good chances for getting the Seaplane Tenders Chitose and Chiyoda, both of whom give important equipment and turn into quite good Light Carriers, and Submarines, which are excellent. 4. Focus on abusing a few node drops at first. Notables: World 1-2's boss node has a chance to drop Choukai, who is a very good Heavy Cruiser. World 1-3's A node has a chance to drop Aoba. World 1-4s A node has a chance of dropping the entire Myoukou class as well as Ise, who is a good starting battleship. I node has a chance of dropping Shouhou and Ryuujou. 2-1 can drop multiple CVLs and BBs. 5. Understand the importance of Air Superiority. AS is the single best thing you can do in battle. It gives all of your ships the ability to double attack and perform day-time cut-ins, as well as limits the abilities of your opponent. This page, while a bit lengthy and dense, is critical to learn and understand. It basically tells you all about what you need to know about combat. 6. Modernize. It's the easiest way to max out a ships stats outside of leveling. Helpful Tools/Pages: Expedition Poi! - Very helpful tool for seeing which expeditions are best for getting resources. Air Superiority Calculator - Easily the most important tool you'll ever use. Himeuta Forums - Has a lot of helpful guides as well as tools to improve your KC experience, like KCV or KC3. Everything you need to know about World 1.- Other Worlds are at the bottom. Good for Seeing Expedition Requirements Ships Needed for Quests - I wish I had this so much. Probably more and Kamen/Spark can off their advice as well.
