Good idea. And yes, there's a watch mode, but you need to make an account to access it =)

I'm in the reverse position, playing Magic made me nostalgic for YGO, and yet my friends scorned me for it and told me to play Magic instead. Thing is, I didn't play Magic growing up except with friends cards, so it doesn't mean as much to me. I love it get me wrong, its a fun game, but that's all it is to me. >Tourney I'm down. What are we going to decide on? Like I said Tuner, we can all play you know... >People wanting to deck test I can tonight. Working now. I need to test my burn deck one more time against a non-OP deck, and have Tuner analyze it and make changes. >Talon Tuner gave me your card list, can give to you tonight |

I know you can all play, which is why it makes sense to play the tournament exactly like a normal weekly yugioh tournament IRL would be played. I posted a thread in Clubs/Social, but the rules are still open to discussion if you guys don't wanna play exactly how the IRL tourneys go

Ice Barrier. That was the deck BBB bbbitch slapped me with.

I was annoyed - not because I lost, but because less than an hour earlier I'd been considering building an Ice Barrier deck on the basis that I hadn't seen one, but now I feel like I'm copying :p.
Back to the drawing board.

I still think Ice Barrier is broken.

Depends on which deck you're dueling. They work for different things. Mine was supposed to be a Stun, but I ended up being able to get some quick Synchros to Gungnir and something else and was able to go on offensive.

I'm surprised Gungnir is unrestricted. Totally destroyed me, as every turn it could wipe out whatever stall I set up and still attack.

Due to the awesomeness the deck peformed, it's currently the front runner to be my Tourney deck. |

Not really. I've seen all three around and honestly, Trishula gave me by far the least trouble because it's effect can only be used once - it's the one I've seen most and not once has it caused me any real problems. Gungnir, on the other hand, renders stall burn nigh unusable the moment it pops onto the field - or indeed pretty much any deck that tends to eat through hands.
The thing is, almost all other monsters with effect like theirs have the added restriction "if they use this effect, they cannot attack this turn".

>everyone bitching about Ice Barrier
>Ice Barrier is what someone recommended I build >just finished building an Ice Barrier deck You might imagine my face as I caught up on the latest posts in this thread. ^^; Anyway, mine is a poor man's shameless copycat deck. "Let's see what the wiki says to use and throw in some staple cards for good measure!" The Smogon cookie-cutter team of UPN YGO decks, to be sure. And it probably doesn't even work right because I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. Anyone who wants to help me playtest it, say so (in the app if you see me online there).

I don't think Ice Barrier is too bad in general - it didn't strike me as being as good as Six Samurai, for example (which is tough but beatable), and I've seen Trishula about and it's been pretty ineffective against me - but Gungnir does pretty much destroy any deck that tends to run low in cards in hand.
Are there any trap cards that stop effects? I have cards to stop my stall cards being destroyed by spell/trap cards, but Gungnir and to a lesser extent some XYZ monsters have annoying effects which my current deck can't deal with.

Not on Dueling Network, you need an account to watch, but the Yugioh Wikia Chat room has stuff that helps facilitate text dueling, and that can be watched by others. Also, count me in on this tournament too. |

Tdos was kind enough to help me test out this Ice Barrier deck I tried to make.
Game 1: I drew a Turn 1 Swords of Revealing Light and Dark Hole. I threw the Swords down on Turn 2 of mine (Turn 3 of the match), I want to say. Some time after they left, circa my Turn 6 or Turn 7 (circa Turn 12-14 in the match), I activate Dark Hole and obliterated the fearsome force of dragons Tdos was amassing. Summoned a general the next turn and then his buddy and another pal of theirs the turn after that for a one-two knockout. 8000 to 0. Fluke victory, as we'd soon see next game. Game 2: Tdos brought the hurt to the table in an epic way. He had a pretty nifty combo mid-to-late game that helped him utterly obliterate me, 7500 to 0, but I really don't think he needed the combo to win either. I was pretty much left praying for a Dark Hole or a Mirror Force and I never drew either. Highlight quote: from Game 1 , this was pretty funny. Well, to me anyway. Quote:
I think this deck could work (a) if I could better learn how it works and (b) if I could give it the right balance of cards it needs. I'll be interested to see how bbb fares. The big worry I have with it is that it doesn't really have enough big muscle and is entirely about smacking the enemy down from a position on high. If you're not King of the Hill 24/7 with this deck, you lose except in cases of luck (see: Dark Hole, Mirror Force). The deck demands rigorous command of the flow of the game if you want to win with it.

I don't blame the guy Kus. If it wasn't for BBB being a cool guy and someone I know and me being able to retain my cool, I probably would have rage quit last night. I've thought about it and I can confirm I hate that deck more than the Six Samurai.
Gungnir is a STUPID card, and that fox that makes it so you can't attack with any monster equal to or higher than it's defense makes for a silly and broken combo. Maybe I should make one, too, and then we can ALL run it! yes I'm butthurt go away |

I need someone to analyze my baseball kid burn deck, get the card number down, and replace bad cards with good ones if need be. Kusari.
No I will not shut up about it. I NEED TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF OVER A CHILDREN'S CARD GAME! Last edited by deoxys; 02-23-2012 at 08:26 PM. |

I'm not the greatest at deck building, as I mainly rely on the strategy of "having good cards in my deck and hoping I draw them", but I'll give it a shot.
Suggestion 1: Add one of these. On the off chance one of your monsters does actually get destroyed, it'll still deal damage. Works for passive burning. Suggestion 2: Dark Room of Nightmare to deal extra damage each time you burn them. That's about all I got. |
