Fizzy Power Co. Raid Battle 2: VS Morpeko
Dynamax Boss Morpeko ★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: N/A Raid Challengers:
With the plant once again darkened by a Dynamax storm, eight trainers quickly rush to the call for help. The now massive rodent stares over the group, its currently full belly leaving it chipper as it seems to wonder just why exactly these trainers have come, and why this small group of Pokemon is staring at it so intently. The answer comes soon enough, as Terri's Dynamax Band surges with energy, signaling the immediate need to take this monster down before things get bad. Dynamax Initiative: Missingno. Master, Flabebe.

Jake Celeste and his Lucario looked up at the sight before them, a partly yellow Pokémon that looked a bit like Pikachu. The Trainer didn't recognize this Pokémon—it must be native to Galar, a region he was mostly unfamiliar with—but he did hear of this power plant. This Gym, Fizzy Power Co., remained operative even as the city it provided power to, New Fizz City, shut down. The electricity flowing through the reactor generated magnetism, magnetism that allowed Lucario to pinpoint its precise location and transport himself and his Trainer to the source of the trouble via Magnet Rise and Psychic.
Jake was just about to pull out his Pokédex and scan the Dynamax Boss, when he heard a nearby Pokédex rattling off an entry on Morpeko. The aspiring Aura Guardian put his own Pokédex back in his pocket and looked at the other raiders gathered at the site, soon spotting the Trainer who was using a Pokédex. It was Terri Alph, a resident of Sludge Wave Coast that Jake had met before. As Terri's Pokédex finished its entry, Jake nodded, having been listening. "That's all the information we need. Lucario, how about you fight this one?" he asked. "You're part Fighting-type and should do well against a Dark-type like Morpeko. Plus, your Justified Ability would boost your Attack when you're hit by a Dark-type move. Oh, and it's also a perfect time to try out that new move of yours!" Jake suddenly remembered. "The sheer size of the Dynamax Pokémon and abundance of Dynamax Energy pretty much guarantee your move will hit, so you don't need to worry about hurting yourself when using it," he pointed out. All true, Lucario agreed, making his way forward to prepare for battle. Now I won't have to be stuck with using Aura Sphere—though Aura Sphere is one of my favorite moves, he added. The Trainer grinned. "Then let's get this battle started, shall we? It's time to make a grand entrance with your brand-new move!" He pointed dramatically at the Morpeko. "Lucario, High Jump Kick, let's go!" "Yaaah!" Lucario exclaimed as he took a running start forward and leaped high into the air. The Aura Pokémon's right leg glowed white as he swung his leg with all his might at the enormous Two-Sided Pokémon. (OOC: Lucario opens with High Jump Kick (130 BP).)

Xander looked around at the other raiders. They'd managed to amass a strong party. He'd battled alongside a number of them before, so he knew what to expect. Gary and his Gallade were always a welcome sight, the Psychic/Fighting type wasn't just an offensive threat, it was a great supportive healer. The same could be said for Jake's Lucario and Leo's Togetic, with the three of them, they'd surely be able to sustain a healthy party. Xander wasn't intending on being dead weight either. A new report had come through from Professor Pine. It seemed they'd finally managed to sort out the energy interference that had previous prevented them from Mega Evolving during raids. Although it meant they wouldn't be able to Dynamax, Mega Evolution meant they'd be able to reach a new level of power. Sceptile stood at the ready. Expertly trained and powerful in its own right, Mega Evolution would allow the Hoenn starter to surpass its regular limits.
"You ready Sceptile?", Xander inquired with a smirk. The Grass type grinned back, flexing his muscles he titled his head back and let out a battle cry. Xander raised his Mega Ring, his Keystone was already growing brightly. Likewise, Sceptile's Sceptilite was beginning to glow as well. "Alright Sceptile, time to Mega Evolve!" Tendrils of energy leap from the two stones. Draw to each other, the tendrils intertwine, cementing the bond between trainer and Pokemon. As Xander feeds energy into Sceptile, the Grass starter begins to grow, taking on its Mega Evolved form. "Excellent!" Xander shouts, "now let's take that giant hamster down! Let's lead with a Draco Meteor!" Mega Evolving into Mega Sceptile. Draco Meteor (130BP) |

Terri tilted her head curiously as she saw something she hadn't thought she would see- a Pokémon Mega Evolving in the presence of a wild Dynamaxed Pokémon. "So being that powerful allows it to override that effect of the Dynamax Energy," she murmured. "That's very interesting. I must tell Observe about this... And I wonder if it would work with Z-Power, too," she added, thinking of her Z-Power Ring and Psychium Z, useless though they would be anyway against this particular opponent. She shook her head, however- none of her Pokémon were quite that strong just yet, it was useless to speculate on such things at the moment. Especially with the current situation getting underway- the Morpeko stood before them, and Terri still had a command to issue to her Flabébé! The Fairy-type floated there, clinging to her blue flower, and while she said nothing, Terri could tell she was already far less nervous about this than she had been initially. This got a smile out of Terri- she had faith in Reassure, and if the Single Bloom Pokémon would have the same confidence in her that her friends did, then they would surely have no problems here. "Let's go, now!" Terri called out. "Time to show your new move! Reassure, Dazzling Gleam!"
"Right!" nodded Reassure as she prepared to attack. Terri's smile widened- Reassure didn't sound the least bit nervous. Whether this sudden bout of confidence was at all warranted, was difficult to say at the moment. Either way, they'd soon find out... Terri could feel the gathered Dynamax Energy slipping away from her Dynamax Band already, but she paid it as little mind as she'd been paying it thus far- none whatsoever, that is to say. With a Dragon-type launching Dragon moves, a Gallade looking to inflict a burn on their enemy, and Safeguard already in effect, Misty Terrain would do more harm than good here, so Max Starfall wasn't worth their while. No, someone else would Dynamax here, Terri knew, and at a more opportune moment. OOC: Reassure used Dazzling Gleam (80 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 06-07-2020 at 06:46 PM. |

Dynamax Boss Morpeko ★★★★ Health Gauge: 81% Shields Up: 0 Status: N/A Raider Status: Safeguard (4 Rounds) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Shockwave (0 BP) Attack 2: Torment (0 BP) Pancham was Tormented!Attack 3: Revenge (60 BP) Zorchic, Lucario: 120 HPRaid Challengers:
Immediately as things get under way, Sceptile Mega Evolves, providing a helpful ability to protect the team from single target Electric attacks. The raiders start off strong, with a large salvo of hits that are both strong and strike at the boss' weaknesses. A few temporary safety nets are erected to prevent the raiders from status as well as lower Morpeko's overall attacking prowess. Morpeko is having none of that, though, and unleashes a mighty shockwave, clearing itself of these debuffs, however it does have the beneficial side effect of helping Sceptile out for now. Doubling down on this, a Torment goes out, preventing Pancham from using the same move twice in a row. Finally, Morpeko puts out some whopping damage, its Revenge on Lucario for a hefty hit bringing the raider dangerously low from the start. Morpeko's stomach rumbles and its form changes, clearly a bit Hangry. Dynamax Initiative: Zorchic, Lucario.

Everything seemed to be going fine, as the others fired powerful attacks and did their best to support the team. The Sceptile, owned by a Trainer that Jake recognized from previous raids, even Mega Evolved! On top of that, it used Draco Meteor, a move that its species couldn't normally learn.
"Mega Evolution in a Max Raid Battle?" Jake murmured to himself. "That's new. Come to think of it, I do recall receiving news that Mega Evolution and Z-Moves could now be used with Pokémon strong enough to brave the Dynamax Energy. Interesting..." After the last attack was fired, a Focus Blast from a Druddigon, Morpeko went on the attack. First, it cleared away all traces of stat changes and statuses, removing its own burn and Attack drops. At least the Special Attack drop that Sceptile had as a result of Draco Meteor was gone too. But, the Dynamax Boss followed up with a Torment on the Pancham who used Breaking Swipe, trying to prevent it from lowering its Attack again. And worst of all, the Electric/Dark-type released a powerful Revenge that sent Lucario flying into Jake. The two of them crashed to the ground, as Morpeko agitated itself into a different, "Hangry" form. "Ow..." Jake groaned, pulling himself out from underneath his Pokémon. "Did the thing have to actually do the shockwave twice? At least the first one was non-damaging..." Lucario got up and shook his head to clear it. What is it with us becoming targets recently? he complained. When this Dynamax mess first started out, the Raid Bosses were targeting the other raiders more often. "I guess that's what comes with more experience," Jake muttered, dusting himself off. "Less underestimation." As he rubbed his Dynamax Band to roughly clean it, he noticed something peculiar. A strong red glow of Dynamax Energy was present in the Band—much more than was usually granted when his battler was knocked out, and definitely enough to actually Dynamax a Pokémon! At the realization that Jake had the Dynamax Initiative, the young Aura Guardian jumped up and gave a big whoop. "ALL RIGHT!" he celebrated at the top of his lungs. "WE FINALLY GOT IT! AFTER SO MUCH TIME! I CAN DYNAMAX NOW!" Jake high-fived Lucario...and they both turned back to the battle promptly after. They couldn't waste any time; they had a decision to make! It was Jake and Lucario's turn to Dynamax, Jake knew. Of course, upon Dynamax, the ideal move would be Max Knuckle, which would raise Lucario and his allies' Attack stats. The thing was, though, Morpeko could simply expel all statuses with a release of Dynamax Energy. Max Knuckle was actually a bit weaker compared to other Max Moves. On top of that, the health boost that Lucario would get when Dynamaxed wouldn't completely offset the damage he took from that singular Revenge. Jake sighed. He'd been looking forward to this moment for months. He'd been dreaming about the moment when he finally got to channel this energy into his Pokémon and make them grow bigger and more powerful! But it looked like that moment of glory would have to wait. The more strategically optimal solution right now was to let someone else Dynamax later, and maybe they could utilize the coveted energy better. "Lucario...I think we'll have to pass," Jake admitted. The Fighting/Steel-type nodded. It seems so, he replied. "Well, then..." said Jake, thinking a moment, "let's...use High Jump Kick again!" he exclaimed, regaining his usual gusto in a second. Righty-o! Lucario ran forward, leaped into the air, and proceeded to deliver a powerful kick to the Dynamaxed Hangry Morpeko. The Trainer felt the Dynamax Energy fade from his Dynamax Band, and the red glow with it. There was no turning back now. Jake just hoped he'd made the right decision. (OOC: Lucario used High Jump Kick (130 BP).)

Terri wasn't sure who was the next to be able to Dynamax their Pokémon- that is, until Jake Celeste very audibly left the others in no doubt whatsosever. He, however, didn't seem to be actually making use of this opportunity, same as Terri. This didn't bother her- the time wasn't yet right and she knew it.
After Morpeko had taken numerous attacks, it fought back, first with a forceful shockwave. Nobody was hurt by this, but it cleared out the burn it had been inflicted with, as well as its lowered Attack from Breaking Swipe. However, Terri grinned- this also surely got rid of the Special Attack decrease that the Mega Sceptile surely incurred from Draco Meteor. This, she knew, put it in a good position to potentially use such a move again (Reassure's Flower Veil was useless against self-inflicted stat reductions such as this, so Sceptile being a Grass-type was irrelevant here). Following this, however, it landed a Torment on the Pancham, surely forcing a change in its tactics this time- Torment would mean that it couldn't use the same move consecutively for a while. And finally, Lucario was blasted back by a souped-up Revenge. Help gave a soft sigh, smiling as she looked on at the Flabébé floating before them. Despite the ludicrous size difference and the terrifying display of power the Electric/Dark-type had just shown them all, Reassure did not look deterred in the slightest. Granted, she hadn't been on the business end of any of Morpeko's attacks just yet, but she was still not about to just wimp out at the first sign of potential danger! Terri glanced at the Comfey around her neck with a sly, knowing smile, before turning her attention back to the battle. "Again, Reassure! Use Dazzling Gleam!" she commanded her Flabébé. OOC: Reassure used Dazzling Gleam (80 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 06-09-2020 at 10:10 AM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Xander watched carefully as they launched their first round of attacks. Things seemed to go fairly well, with Gary opting to burn the raid boss while a Breaking Swipe from one of the other raiders ensured the hamster's attack was well and truly neutered. Most of the other raiders went for more aggressive options, which managed to take out a fairly large portion of the boss's health. It was a great start, but nothing to get carried away about.
Unfortunately a strange shockwave from the boss removed the burn and attack drop, but it also played to their advantage with the shockwave removing the negative stat drop from Sceptile's last move! The hamster then proceeded to Torment Pancham before taking some revenge on Jake's Lucario, dealing a rather nasty blow to the Fighting/Steel type. As the other trainers prepared their orders Xander sat back, running some calculations in his head. He was shocked to hear one of the trainer's, Leo, order his Togetic to use Metronome! Was he feeling cocky or what? For all he knew, Togetic could blow itself up with Explosion or even heal the Raid Boss with a Heal Pulse! Twas certainly a strange choice. "Surely it should have it shields up by now........" Xander spoke quietly to himself. "With that in mind Sceptile, let's just go for a Leaf Blade on that hangry Hamster!" Sceptile looked back to his trainer with confidence. He'd managed to avoid damage so far, but he knew that likely wouldn't be the case for long. Thankfully they had a well rounded team with a number of healers! Leaf Blade (90BP) |

Dynamax Boss Morpeko ★★★★ Health Gauge: 72% Shields Up: 3 Status: Confused, Atk +3, Sp.Def +1 Raider Status: Safeguard (3 Rounds) Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Knuckle (90 BP) Slash, Druddigon: 192 HPAttack 2: Charge (0 BP) Morpeko's Special Defense rose! Morpeko is Charged!Attack 3: Electroweb (55 BP) Zorchic, Lucario: 0 HPRaid Challengers:
One of the raiders decides to start the round off with a bang by whipping up a Metronome, the back and forth tick shortly after shooting out a Swagger. The boss immediately becomes enraged, boosting its attack but causing it to be confused. A bit more of a salvo causes Morpeko to put up its shields, which the remaining raiders begin to chip through handily. Enraged, the boss works through its confusion and looses a Max Knuckle onto the Druddigon, further boosting its attack power. Its confusion continuing to do very little, the Hangry hamster Charges up, overflowing its special defense a bit before using its electrical overflow to blast a large chunk of health off of the raiders, causing Lucario to be KO'd and the rest to drop in speed. Its rage temporarily sated, Morpeko chews some seeds stored in its cheek and its belly becomes full for now. Dynamax Initiative: Prof.Enigma, Whimsicott.

The prospect of the Togetic going for Metronome, a notoriously random move, in such a dire situation, it was frankly alarming. Terri watched curiously, sighing as the outcome ended up being a Swagger attack. It wasn't exactly what anyone would have really wanted to see- a damaging move would have been vastly preferable, in Terri's opinion- but at least there was the possibility of Morpeko hitting itself, right?
Alas, that didn't happen here. Morpeko managed to get through an entire round of attacks without losing a single hit point by its own doing. A forceful Max Knuckle into the Druddigon, boosting its Attack even further. A Charge attack, powering up its electrical energy and boosting its Special Defense. And finally, one of the few Electric moves that would circumvent Mega Sceptile's Lightining Rod; Electroweb. The Lucario was knocked clean out, leaving the gathered group one mon down for the moment. "...it's gotten so powerful," murmured Reassure. "And it hasn't hurt itself yet..." "Don't start losing hope, Reassure!" called the Comfey still around Terri's neck. "It hasn't attacked you yet, has it? You're still in this!" Terri nodded. "Help is right," she said. "It's not the start any of us would have preferred, but this is far from undoable. Now let's take down that shield once and for all!" she declared. "Reassure, use Tackle!" she commanded. And with that, the tiny Flabébé was off, ramming into the heavily damaged shield with all of her might. Which, amusingly enough, given her size, would indeed be just enough to shatter the shield completely, exposing Morpeko to everyone else's considerably stronger moves. OOC: Reassure used Tackle (40 BP). |
