"...how did that work?" Keith asked after a moment of stunned silence. "Did... did you put anything in the Egg to weigh it down, at least?"

"Couple o' rocks and hairballs," nodded Meowth.

"And the Trainer never noticed the cracks?" Willa asked dubiously.

"Dat was what worried me as well, but tankfully no," shrugged Meowth. "Either I glued it dat well or dey was just plain unobservant.

"And nobody figured that you were clearly not a newborn Meowth?" continued Keith.

"I was still pretty young back den, gimme a little credit," purred Meowth. "I could still pull off da cutesy look. Not ta mention, like I said earlier, the Egg House ain't exactly had da most attentive staff. In any case, though, my new Trainer put me up fer trade, and dat's when I ended up wit da girl wat dat traded me ta youse," he stated, with a glance at Keith. "I lasted a bit longa on her team, and dat's when I first saw dem on TV- dose bumblin' Team Rocket membas and deir talkin' Meowth. I idolized dat Meowth," he smiled. "He had real friends. Friends dat would neva turn on him when he'd need dem most, friends dat didn't give a Patrat's ass whetha he evolved or not. Dat right dere, dat was wat I wanted."

"So, then when the trade machine malfunctioned...?" said Maribel (Keith had told her, years ago, the origin of Meowth's ability to speak human language).

Meowth nodded. "Wateva Dream Mist had gotten inta dat ting reacted wit my heart's desire and made me able ta speak like dis," he stated. He recalled way back when they had been speculating about what could've caused the malfunction. One of the possibilities that had been brought up was human DNA in the trading machine, but their main theory had been some Dream Mist in the trading machine. And then, years later, after Keith had acquired Selia, the then-Munna was able to confirm just about instantly that some errant Dream Mist had indeed been the cause.

"Meowth," said Meowstic. "I... I want to make this clear. I promise you, I will never do what that Perrserker or those Galarian Meowth did to you. I promise, my feelings for you are real."

Meowth, however, was smiling. "If I had da slightest fear dat you'd betray me like dat, I neva would'a asked Willa ta catch youse," he said to Meowstic. "And afta youse put yerself in danger ta save me from dat boulda back in da Clawmark Mountains? Dere ain't no doubt watsoeva," he purred, nuzzling Meowstic affectionately.

Meowstic's small smile became more pronounced than usual. "I am glad," she said as she nuzzled Meowth back. No more words were spoken for the longest while as the small group, the small family, held onto each other, watching the sunrise, Meowth now doing so with a great deal more appreciation. It had felt good to talk about his past like that, and he felt all the more appreciation for the real friends and family he had now.

With one final barrage of attacks Meowth is left teetering on the brink as the Shadow Dragapult, in its vicious fever state, somehow takes the cue to hit it hard and slams into the feline, bringing itself dangerously low as it does so, but this is enough to send the gigantamax feline's massive cooin flying off its head. The raid boss blinks twice before a long, drawn-out whining noise can be heard from the spot where its coin used to be, and the Meowth begins flailing almost comically before suddenly leaving the ground and like a deflatng balloon whizzes around the arena, shrinking in size as he does, before limply floating down into the well, a fraction of the size he used to be and out of sight.

From the well erupts a fountain of coins, all non-legal tender and a quick glance at the coinage reveals that it appears to be the old Jirachi's Casino Monthly Stockpile stash. Just as quickly, however, the whole lot is seized by Fizzytopia Investigations and Customs, but the trainers are nevertheless rewarded for the sting of the decade.

For their part in defeating the Gigantamax Raid Boss Meowth, the raiders are awarded the following:

The crew of Galarian Meowth looked on from their hiding spots as the various Trainers they'd hired for this continued to attack. Occasionally they'd scowl as it looked as though the fools were teetering on the brink of defeat, but when all was said and done, they'd done their job and done it well, and the Gigantamaxed Meowth deflated back to size in almost comical fashion. And then came the fountain of coins- at this, the scurvy Steel-types smirked, knowing the fools would interpret that as their payment. However, instead, the corrupt government officials the Meowth had bribed stepped in and seized the sparkly stockpile. This did nevertheless leave the Trainers with a few small tokens as compensation, but nothing compared to the haul they were getting out of this. And that was to say nothing of the one Galarian Meowth's grand master plan. Once everyone had cleared out, and the barely-conscious Meowth had somehow managed to pull himself out of the well, the female gestured to the rest of the crew, and they scurried over, ready to regale him with thrilling falsehoods about his epic sweeping of the enemy, build up his confidence, stoke his ego, and most importantly, ensure he trusted them.

Meowth hadn't, of course, remembered those particular details- between his last moments being forcibly Gigantamaxed and the subsequent unconsciousness, he was more than a little preoccupied. Nevertheless, the sort of deceit and treachery those Pokémon pirates had planned from the start, he'd learned it for himself. And painful though it was to recount that part of his past, at the same time it felt... freeing, knowing he'd finally confided in those he knew he could well and truly trust.

As the Masterses made to go back in the house (which wasn't until after Meowstic had stopped hugging Meowth and accompanied Willa and Maribel back inside), Meowth stopped, and Keith noticed this. "What's up, Meowth?" he asked.

In response, Meowth rummaged around in his fur, in an area normally reserved for held items, which he'd never really made use of before, before finally pulling out a peculiar band. "...I neva knew wat dis was before," he began, holding the band up to Keith, who took it and inspected it. "It was only relatively recently I began ta have an idea, seein' dem Gigantamax raids happenin' at da Wishin' Well. I had dis eva since dose pirates found me, always kept it safe on me, fer good luck. And now I'm tinkin' it might be-"

"...a Gigantaband?" Keith finished. Meowth nodded mutely in response. Keith smiled, examined the Gigantaband a little more, then handed it back to Meowth. "Then I'd say put it on," he stated. "We'll be sure to make good use of it, together."

Meowth smiled as he accepted the item he'd forever considered a good luck charm, and slipped it on his right front leg, pretty much comparable to where on Keith's wrist he'd put his Dynamax Band. "Yeah," he nodded. "Hey, Keith," he added. "...tanks fer hearin' me out, and fer not judgin' me too harsh on who I used ta be," he said quietly.

Keith, in response, picked Meowth up. "You bet, buddy," he replied, and the two embraced each other. "And y'know what? Someday, we'll get back at Perrserker and her crew for the crap they put you through," he added. "Nobody just uses my friend like that and gets away with it." Meowth was too choked up with emotion to properly respond, but Keith understood all the same. And so, back in the Poisonous Palace they went- after that tale, it was agreed all around that a good breakfast was exactly what they all needed.
