Slumbering Wilds Raid Battle 9: Servine!

Somehow, the Servine had escaped the confusion entirely unscathed. Also to the raiders' misfortune, it did not waste a move on the already dead to rights Heracross. The Alolan Ninetales on their side was struck with a powerful Leaf Storm, though its next use of seemingly its favourite move was thankfully all but wasted on Casper. He'd be able to well over make up for that with his draining move. And as predicted, the Shadow Heracross fell to the residual from his burn. The next set of shields were partially blown through, which, if trends held, would clear an easy path for the raiders' victory once they fell.

It did seem that the previous shields, when cleared away, did have the effect on Servine that Darik was concerned about, however, fortifying its defenses instead of dropping them. He wondered if his colleagues knew this. He pulled out a 3x5 notebook from his bag and quickly jotted down "Contrary applies inverse effect on defensive drop from Dynamax Raid Boss shields dropping." He knew a lot of the scientists studying Dynamax as a phenomenon were not active battlers, and it was quite a rare ability, so it was possible they had not observed this occurrence. While it would follow logically, sometimes it seemed that logic need not apply to Dynamax. He also now was wondering how it would interact with the Pig Pecks or Clear Body abilities, or what would happen if the final shield was broken by a Pokemon with the Mold Breaker attribute. He'd have to see if there was research done on the subjects, and possibly do some himself if there wasn't anything per reviewed on the subject. While outside of his area of expertise, that being psychic powers in humans and Pokemon, he was still frequently involved in these Max Raid Battles, and viewed them through a scientist's eyes, so he may be able to contribute to the scientific discourse and well of public knowledge.

Regardless, the shortest answer is doing the thing, so he should focus on this battle. "Casper, you're doing great. Our allies should be dealing with those inconvenient shields, so be ready to use our signature move here, another Leech Life to hit critically and heal yourself up some more."

With their trainer seemingly absent, Ninetales can only watch on with vicarious envy as Vivillon musters a buffeting Max Flutterby, the vicious attack cheered on by another raider managing to brush aside the remaining screens protecting Servine. Somewhat taken aback, the reptile can do little as they are doused in sickly green toxins, the sudden discharge from Seviper managing to set his blood alight with agony. Another round of applause rings out as Spinarak is empowered, their Leech Life once again fully restoring them - but these celebrations are brief as Ninetales is felled by a whirling Leaf Storm, a second engulfing Joltik and leaving a severe mark.
