Sypher found himself sobbing as he watched the captive Chimchar convulse, the poor creature's tormented cries amplifying his own with each gasp. Then came the phone, and he noticed the timing of it all. Saoirse leaving the room, the yelling that he had heard that seemed to match the wailing of the Chimchar, then the silences. Maybe his presence had at least bought the little ape some time. As his mood swung from grief to anger he whispered to himself "Don't worry little guy, I'm gonna get you and who ever else is trapped in the purgatory out of here. I might not be able to do it quickly, but I'm going to help." He slipped his phone into his pocket, leaving it ready to record audio as he planned to get what information he could out of Saoirse. His business done here and with his brow furrowed and gritted teeth, Sypher returned to waiting room to calm himself, resolved to fuck-up the Shell's day.

As with the hat earlier, Balmund takes the bloodstained uniform in favor over his current wear. As long as nobody was staring or paying attention, it should be enough to allow him to bypass areas with tighter security, and at the very least, it should provide more cover than the hat alone. Hastily changing clothes, he dumps his shirt and jacket behind the set of crates in the room's corner, though not without relocating his radio into his pocket. He wondered briefly if the signal would follow through the deeper they went in. "So, B1F, eh? Stairs or elevator? Either way, I'm taking the lead from now on. Stay out of sight and cover me." |

So, despite herself, she and the bright dual type approached the crying boy. They were careful so as not to startle him, but also to give enough distance that if he tried to jump them they had enough leeway to maybe scramble for it. "Hey there. Excuse me," Alice asked gently, "Do you mind us asking what happened? Is there something we could help you with? We're not here to cause trouble. Pinky promise and all that." ((Muh thing.))

Opening one of his Poke Balls while trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible, Sweeney looked towards the figure of Ivy as the Bellsprout materialised in a shimmer of crimson light. The Grass type wasn't exactly what Sweeney might call a great friend - their partnership was built much more on an amicable basis of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours". Still, Ivy seemed happy enough to help out where possible. He wasn't unreasonable. Sweeney just had to hope the Grass type would be compliant today. Nodding to Sophie, Sweeney allows the Solosis access to his mind so that she can relay the details to Ivy, isolating her signal so that only those intended to were receving the information. "Okay Ivy, Sweeney wants you to try use Vine Whip to grab the gun from that guys waist. If that's not possible, make do with knocking Glameow away from Houndour with a Vine Whip after it uses Fake Out." |

There is no such thing as Paradise, only Trouble.
The Ribcage Mall.
134: You could see Kai was beginning to tire in the field, but you and she remained resolute in the face of adversity as the Vaporeon carefully watches her foe, the fox taking a moment to hone its small claws against some of the rubble, if in some discomfort as the toxin started to work against it, before approaching the Vaporeon casually. Thankfully, your companion was having none of this nonsense, enduring and bracing herself while watching carefully, keeping herself in a defensive position as the Zorua attempted to feint around her, the pair in a standoff. "Just hit 'er already!" Ross roars after a minute or two of this circling, the Zorua taking the chance to attack by pouncing with paws outstretched, but Kakahai is more than prepared, standing her ground and shoving into the strike. Claws rake at her, but the smaller pokemon is muscled off as the Vaporeon stomps the ground, unleashing her innermost hidden power to pummel the fox with a small barrage of energy orbs from the ground. This, combined with the standoff, leads to the Zorua coughing hard as the poison intensifies, causing slight convulsions and wearing down energy and stamina. "Alright, now or never! Get up and bounce!" With surprising agility, the Zorua hops back a couple of paces before suddenly leaping up high onto another post, bouncing off the top and diving for Kakahai, the Vaporeon having little opportunity to evade as the fox barrels down onto her, smacking into her back, before leaping back, stumbling as it does as the Vaporeon is knocked down with a yelp to a chorus of gasps from the spectating Ribs. As she tries to get up, you notice her hip seems stiff, as though in the throes of paralysis as Ross crosses his arms and begins to laugh in a dastardly manner. "Gyah ha ha! He got the para...WHUH?!?" His reaction only makes your initial worries melt away, just as the skin around the hip of your pokemon seems to bubble, as the rain outside seems to have affected the Vaporeon in more than one way. Though not directly bolstering her water moves, the proximity and intensity of the storm has activated her hydration, the stiffening joints loosening as your partner stands up in defiance of this mere fox, the Zorua just as surprised, before opening her mouth and blasting it with a beam of frigid energy before Loki can react. The icy ray shoves the fox into the pillar it hopped off of, causing further injury, and by the time it subsides, between the poison and the impact, the tables have turned, the Zorua having trouble focusing out of minor concussion and nausea. With Ross dumbfounded, you have the opportunity to finish this fight off, as the Vaporeon's second wind and greater stamina pool have enabled her to withstand the assault, though you note that Kakahai would require some rest after this given her inexperience in battle. With the Tricky Fox completely open, now's your chance! Crystal Grove. Missingno. Master: With the evidence around you and Bryan's nasty leer at your presence, you state to Donovan your intentions to interrogate the woman, to which he nods. "Alright, go ahead," he replies, unlocking the metal door as you and Meowth enter, your feline friend not at all comfortable outside with that angry man. Once inside, you hear the door clang shut and lock, a little concerned until you rationalise this would prevent her making a break for it, if possible. The floor beneath you feels fairly sturdy, yet slightly hollow, as though it was built over a gap, but your current goal was getting the woman to talk. Walking up to her, you examine her closely, finding she's making efforts to veil herself from you. Opting to take things gently, you crouch to her level and begin to talk with her.*** Silent at first for a moment or two, the woman slowly turns her head towards you, revealing a face with a prominent black eye, swollen shut, while her other eye glistens with moisture, a pale grey. Looking back at Bryan with a leer that would lower the defence of the Unfezant with the biggest pecks, you can see Donovan clenching his hand into a fist, unimpressed with the physicality the man took, until a faint feminine voice behind you catches your attention, mostly due to how familiar it sounds to you, like the voice of a certain Banette you know. "...no...or...it...or..." Returning to the woman, you ask her to repeat what she said, as Donovan and Bryan begin to strongly argue behind you, Mike having legged it as soon as the pair began. With their escalating bickering, you find it hard to hear her words, but make out a snippet: Amanda. Presumably her name, even Meowth starts to get a headache, the Scratch Cat yelling at the two men to pipe down as the pair begin to muscle into each other, Bryan shoving Donovan backward into a button on the wall as the woman finds the energy to repeat her words, the voice being the one thing your ears are attuned to. "...not a floor, it's a trap door..." As the man hits the button, Bryan storms off in a huff as a loud creak beneath you sinks the deal to you, as Donovan barks at his cohort in anger before turning to you, face etched in horror as you, Meowth and the woman are swallowed up by the hole that's opened, the last thing you hear from the man being a panicked yell. "Shit, sorry! Brace, Keith!" As the doors above you creak back up, the three of you are sent hurtling down a slope, and before you're blinded by the sudden darkness, you discover the red on her shoulder as her arm shifts in flailing to be...a red R, scarred into her shoulder. ----- "Wake up!" You feel a soft object repeatedly thump into your head, aches all over as you wake up to find Meowth giving you a boot with his foot. Groggily rising, you find yourselves in a dim, large circular chamber, the architecture reminiscent of a medieval castle dungeon, though without the chains, and a floor littered with small pieces of what looks like white wood. As you get your bearings, Meowth fills you in on the situation: You, he and the woman fell, slid down numerous slopes and landed in this...place, with you and the girl knocked out from the rough landing while the pokemon managed to naturally land on his feet, though you suspect him to be lying given the Meowth-shaped indent he's trying to cover up. Behind you, the woman seemingly known as Amanda lies unconscious, having given in to pain, and while you have no obligation to remain with her, the better part of you decides to wait for her recovery, when you hear scratching within the walls, something Meowth states he's been hearing since the drop. Looking up, you find no way back up, though there is an archway at the other side of the chamber. Worse, you must have fell quite a distance as your Pokegear has no signal, though it does retain most of its normal functions. You hear the scratching once more, only louder, and as you take a second glance at the wood, you come to the discovery that these aren't sticks, but fragments of bone. As though Arceus Himself was waiting for you to find this out, the source of the scratching comes into view, pouring from holes in the wall. Rattata. Lots, and lots of Rattata. Many purple, many black, many scrawny, few with fat. Each and every single one of them looks at the three of you with an almost predatory gaze, as the source of the bones becomes clear. Your dex can count them, but it'll take some time for an accurate count, but from what you can tell by their physique, they're not going to back away unless properly routed... How will you deal with the tide of rats, both normal and alolan? The Bastion of Vacuous Dreams. Marion Ette: The fates would know better than to presume you to be a mere normal person, and with the feeling of spectation, you decide to play fair to the mannequins on the throne, giving a respectful bow and apology for the intrusion, before heading in for a closer look at them. The lack of answer from anywhere tells you that on further inspection the mannequins are, indeed, just mannequins, despite the attire. A closer look, however, reveals each holds a card in their hand. Taking a look at each card, you discover them to be tarot cards, The Emperor and The Empress respectively, and you feel unusually compelled to take them, even as you try to resist. As your hands grasp and pull the cards from the mannequins, with another apology leaving your lips, the mannequins crumble to nothing before you, as though they had sat there for an eternity. However, what truly catches you off guard is what you feel holding each. Lifting them both, you find each card to be partially tangible, as though you can hold onto just one, the other seemingly on the verge of not existing. With what grip you have, you examine each in detail. The Empress card depicts you sitting on a throne holding a sceptre, while the Emperor shows you sitting on a throne holding an ankh above you. Both thrones are black with golden trim, inset with aquamarines. Around the room, you find each of the tables to be cloaked in darkness so deep they're hidden, and indeed the only light in the room emanates from the two cards in your hand, flickering between physical and surreal, as you feel the urge to let go of one...but which will you choose? Empress, or Emperor? |

"Umbra, at this point, there are only three options I can think of. We run, we fight, or we do something completely unpredictable." The Umbreon shook anxiously. "The first option won't work. The third option might work, but I don't think that it's time yet." Hiero paused, noting his Umbreon's shaken demeanor. He looked back up at the unearthly silhouette that became closer by the second. "Umbra, you've done enough for now. It's time to fight fire with fire." Hiero pulled out his Umbreon's Pokeball and retrieved it, returning the ball to his pack and pulling out another. "Thanks Umbra, but I know what I need to do now." Hiero stepped forward toward the lumbering figure - whatever it was. "While it's true I've never seen anything like this, I've spent enough time around ghosts over the years to know that sometimes the best way to handle them is to just face them head on. If it wants to play, then I'll give it the performance of a lifetime." Hiero spun the Pokeball in his hands and tossed it to the ground. It bounced, revealing his Mimikyu. "Noppera, here's the situation. We don't have much time - the enemy is dead ahead, and barreling for us quickly. There are only a few Pokemon, specifically ghosts, capable of something like this, and I know you know that just as well as I do." The Mimikyu nodded. "You're most primed to handle this situation." Hiero reached his arm around his back and unzipped a pocket on his backpack. Whatever that thing was, it was far closer to reaching the pair than it had been a moment ago. Hiero pulled his hand out and opened his fist, revealing 9 Rare Candies. "Pera." The Mimikyu turned to its trainer, ready to fight. "I think it's time. Just to be safe." Hiero through the candies onto the floor besides the Mimikyu. The Pokemon understood, quickly zooming over top of the candies and consuming them. (Mimikyu has reached Level 14! Mimikyu learned Baby-Doll Eyes and Shadow Sneak!) Energized from the treats, the Mimikyu quickly turned to its opponent, its claws primed defensively. "KkKKkKkKkKyYyyYYykK" "Pera! Use Shadow Sneak on the enemy! Follow up with a powerful Wood Hammer and, if it fights back, do what you do best - be a Copycat and give it a taste of its own medicine!" Hiero stood in a defensive position, and somehow managed to crack a smile. "You want to dance? Let's dance." |

The floor felt odd somehow. That was Keith's first impression of the cell. It felt sturdy, but... somehow it felt as though there was nothing really beneath the floor. An odd sensation indeed. But then, he wasn't in the cell to question the structural integrity, now was he? Therefore, he pushed the odd feeling out of his mind and approached the woman whom he was in the cell to question. The woman was making an effort to hide herself from Keith, clearly apprehensive about his presence. And if Bryan was really as tough on her as had been implied, Keith could easily imagine her not taking well to someone else coming in to interrogate her. But Keith was determined to not escalate things any if they needn't escalate. He crouched down, got down to her level. "Hey," he said, his voice calm and gentle. "Alright, so, listen- I don't know what exactly your story is, but I'd be interested to find out. My name's Keith, this here is Meowth. What's your name?" he asked. In lieu of an answer, Keith got... silence. But he was patient, he wasn't gonna rush this woman. If he tried to rush the process, he could very well bring it to a standstill instead. Whatever Bryan's methods were, they clearly didn't work, so it stood to reason that this gentler, more patient approach was worth a shot. But then, the woman slowly turned to look at Keith. One of her eyes could be seen to be a pale shade of grey, and moist with tears. I say one of her eyes because the other eye was blackened, swollen shut. Keith's mouth fell open a bit at this sight, and he turned to Bryan, giving him a positively frightening look as the man's interrogation method of choice came to light. No wonder this woman was afraid to be interrogated again, if this was what she'd come to associate with interrogation! Donovan, it seemed, was similarly displeased with Bryan's brutal interrogation techniques, though Keith's mind was swiftly yanked away from this as he heard a voice. A soft, feminine voice. One that sounded almost familiar to him, familiar in a way that made his heart leap involuntarily. "...Could you please repeat that?" Keith asked the woman, for it was she who had spoken, and whatever she said, it was pretty much inaudible to him, having been practically whispered. "Hey!" Meowth exclaimed, shouting at Bryan and Donovan as their argument continued to escalate. "Pipe down, will ya? Dis ain't helpin' nuttin'!" He groaned as his words went utterly unheeded, but Keith did not share his irritation, his mind and ears completely focused on the woman, who sure enough repeated her words, this time a bit clearer. And just as her words sank in, Bryan had shoved Donovan into a button in the wall that served to drive the point home- the reason the cell's floor had felt odd to Keith was because it was a gigantic trap door. A giant trap door activated by a button on the wall outside the cell. The same button Bryan had shoved Donovan into. "...Oh, crap," Keith said, looking down. And down they went! Keith, Meowth, and the woman (whose name, if certain overheard snippets of Bryan and Donovan's argument were to be believed, was Amanda) all plummeted down. The last thing Keith saw was the red on Amanda's shoulder- a red letter R, scarred into her flesh. Keith had to admit, that sort of thing really did scream Team Rocket affiliation. And the last thing Keith heard was Donovan's apology. He would've yelled back up that he'd be OK, but one, he was too startled by the sudden situation, and two, he was a just a bit too busy losing consciousness. ~~~~~ "Wake up!" "Wh- gah- Meowth, what the..." Keith groaned, his eyes opening slowly. "Where the... What... What the hell happened? What was hitting me just now?" "My foot," Meowth responded. "I was tryin' ta wake youse up. Yer welcome." "Where the hell are we?" Keith asked, looking around. It looked like a medieval dungeon of some sort, minus the chains, though pieces of what appeared to be white wood were scattered all around. "We's way under the cell dey was keepin' Amanda in," said Meowth. "I dunno how far we fell, but it was a long way. Dis is where we landed, and me bein' me-owth, naturally I landed on my feet," he purred. "Uh-huh," smirked Keith. "And that Meowth-shaped indent on the floor behind you, what, that was there from the start?" "OK, youse hit yer head, yer seein' tings," Meowth snapped, though he still attempted to conceal the indent his hilarious crash-landing had made from Keith. "So, wat about her?" he asked, gesturing to Amanda. "She's out cold from da crash landing." "Well, let's try to help her," stated Keith. "We don't know what her deal is just yet, and I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt as long as I don't have a reason not to- Meowth, what's that?" he added, for a scratching sound came to his attention. "Watever it is, I been hearin' it since we fell down here," shrugged Meowth. "Startin' ta freak me out," he added nervously. At this, Keith hastily checked his possessions. Poké Balls? On his belt. PokéGear? Intact and functional, though didn't get a signal down here. Z-Ring and Poisonium Z? On his wrist. Mega Hat? On his head. Backpack? On his back, contents undisturbed. And his Pokédex? Safe and sound. And not a moment too soon, for a second look around the room gave Keith a most disturbing revelation. Those fragments of white wood? They weren't white wood. They were bones. And as Keith realized this, as if on cue, countless rodents practically poured out of the walls. The purple ones Keith recognized as Rattata, having owned one himself for a brief time, but the black ones, similar though they looked to Rattata, were new to him. He pointed his Pokédex at one of these black rodents. "Rattata- Alola Form- the Mouse Pokémon. A Dark and Normal-type," said the Pokédex. Rattata gnaws through doors, infiltrates people's homes, and steals whatever food it finds. It becomes active when the sun goes down, and searches for good food for the Raticate boss of its nest." "So Rattata has an Alola Form as well," Keith remarked, though this was honestly the very last thing on his mind at the moment. Much more pressing was the sheer number of Rattata, Alola Form and Normal Form, as well as the hungry, predatory look every last one of them was giving Keith. "...Dis is bad," Meowth squeaked, climbing up Keith and taking his usual spot on his Trainer's shoulder. "Maybe it is," Keith nodded. "Maybe for most people a pack of hungry Rattata might pose a problem. But," he grinned, plucking the Christmas Ball off his belt and enlarging it. "For us? Not so much." And he enlarged the Christmas Ball and heaved it. "It's dinner time, Marvolo!" he declared as the ball split open, and in a swirl of snowflakes, a powerful Seviper materialized. The Poison-type's mouth fell open, the Seviper practically salivating at the sight that met his eyes. Far from fearful of the multitude of Rattata, Marvolo was hungry. "Oooh, yes, what a lovely selection," he hissed ominously. "I see we even have Alolan cuisine on the menu tonight," he added, spotting the black Rattata. "Never had the pleasure, but it's been on my to-do list." "Have at 'em, Marv," stated Keith. "If you get full, keep fighting them off, whether you kill 'em, knock 'em out, or drive 'em away. You get the idea- just keep them away from us." And Marvolo did not need telling twice! His piercing Glare would surely freeze all those looking at him in place, after which he'd start going on the offensive, seeing how many kills he'd get from firing a single Swift attack at the whole pack. And if he was starting to get surrounded, it would surely be nothing that a good Brutal Swing couldn't fix. And of course, any Rattata he could get in his mouth were as good as dinner. |

Carrie strode through a rather nice street, her loyal hound Fwoofy lapping bravely at her heels. The sun beat nicely down on the two, feeling rather like a nice massage more than anything. The sound of her friend's paws pattering against the paved road behind her set Carrie's heart at ease, helping reassure her and assuage the fears she'd felt about the gangs that supposedly roamed this general area. That, and she took care to visit a nice, safe area. Comparatively, at least. "I hope mom isn't too mad..." She held up a wad of cash she'd saved before setting out on her quest, the money feeling nice and crisp between her fingers. She rather liked new money, it had a certain chippy texture that was odd for a parchment and rather pleasant to the touch. "That was delicious though!" Absentmindedly Carrie licked some ice cream off the fingers of her other hand, the taste of vanilla complimenting her new freedom well. "Still more than enough to live for a week or so!" A sound made her stop in her tracks...or rather, the lack of one. Fwoofy scooted aggressively in front of her, teeth bared. "Wh, what is it?" Fear started to creep into Carrie's voice. Even if Fwoofy behaved this way about everyone (that poor ice cream vendor seemed like he was afraid Fwoofy would bite his hand off!) it was rare he got this proactive. "Um, Fwoofy, what's wrong?" Quickly she stuffed her money back in her pocket, but it was still withing easy reach for disposal if she got mugged. Fortunately, this proved not to be the case. Upon inspection she realized he wasn't angry but playing with a discarded chew toy he'd found. "Ew, please, please don't-" She said, leaning over and taking it. He gave it up easily, and fortunately it didn't look too dirty but it was from the ground so she tossed it in a bin. She reassured her puppy with a few pats on the head and the two were walking once more, enjoying the sights and smells (even if Fwoofy growled at things more than was called for). |

Meetan: On hearing your voice, the boy stops crying, the abrupt change seeming immediately suspicious, but once you see the legitimate despair within his eyes it becomes evident his sadness is genuine, whether it were part of some plot or not. Sniffing loudly, trying his best not to cry in front of you, he shakily stands to his feet, sheepishly looking down at the ground as he becomes to mumble his words.
"I was p-playing with some friends a-and ... this older boy came along. He said he was better than us, and that we had to do as he told us. He took my Pokemon too! I didn't know what to do ... I couldn't fight back without Muddy ..." The boy begins to cry once again, despite how hard he was trying to hold the floodgates back. As he does so, you hear the sound of feet in the distance, a chorus of young children all calling out the same name - Terry. Turning towards the voices, the young boy pauses for a moment before deciding to shout back, giving them indication of where he was. "Those are my other friends. None of them actually have Pokemon of their own, so they were counting on me. I let them down." Terry swings a foot at a nearby pebble on saying this, the frustration of the situation coming to a head for the young child. The pebble strikes the nearby wooden wall, bouncing feebly back and coming to a halt in a lone puddle. Deoxys: With the figure continuing to stagger towards you, you call for Pera for assistance, the MImikyu all too happy to lend his power to the upcoming battle. The Ghost type wasted no time in gathering his spectral powers, a dark haze gathering at the hem of his cloth covering. Red flashes of energy lurk there, the ominous force soon building to a frenzied crescendo and rushing forwards from Pera's body. The thin trail of black energy can be seen curling across the floor, moving at an incredible speed, and the humanoid figure is left staggering as an ethereal claw bursts from the ground to land a solid blow to the left side of the figures body. As Pera strikes though, the Mimikyu becomes uncertain. Turning towards you, the Ghost type looks dead into your eyes, desperately trying to convey something. It soon becomes a bit more apparent what his worries may be. The figure that had just been attacked slumps to the ground in a heap, all sense of tension fading from the body and atmosphere. As it does so, a faint cackling can be heard growing ever quieter above, as if it were beckoning you to dare follow. Moving forwards, you realise with a sudden blow that what you had just struck wasn't any kind of apparition. The woman from earlier lay unconscious on the ground, the whites of her eyes showing. Her injuries from earlier were still intact, but without warning, your vision blurs once again. The injuries fade from the body, but importantly she remains. As your vision finally comes back into full working order, you notice the woman stirring. Sitting up straight, she looks around for a moment, fear beginning to set into her eyes. "Wh-where the hell am I?!" |

At least until Neemee produced a lit torch, at which point Michael could see the stone walls carved out by something, but what that something was he didn't know, maybe an Onix or Steelix? "Very dark down here," Neemee explained. "Kyu have light-light though! Me-me lead way, kyu get lost on own. Bang-bang squads not know of ghost tunnel, only ghosts know!" "Only ghosts know?" echoed Michael. "So there are other ghosts who live in these parts..." As the cave started to open out into a chamber full of quartz crystals, Michael noticed that the only footsteps being heard were his own and Chex's. Neemee wasn't making any sound at all as they traveled, and Michael took note of the mysterious guide floating around in the air just barely off the ground, as if they had no feet. "So you said you're a ghost?" Michael asked. "That's why you know about this tunnel?" I wonder what kind of ghost Neemee is, he thought to himself. "Oh yes, me-me knows this cave!" Neemee replied. "Close to big castle, gates above us! Far above us! Easy way in! Me-me has ways in!" They then point towards a pile of rocks that seemed to be in the way of an opening. "Wall fall down, tunnel to cat bee homes behind it! Me-me not strong, not move! Kyu come in, kyu move with hard bug, then me-me get self, we-we make bang-bang squads cry!" "Cat bee homes?" Michael muttered to himself, he had no idea what these "cat bees" that Neemee was talking about were. "So we're supposed to clear this path up? Chex should be able to handle that, right Chex?" "Sure thing," Chex nodded before walking over to the boulders. Before he could touch a single stone, however, some of them began to come to life, revealing a moving statue with a large nose and two stony appendages with two stubby feet. Did I mention this creature had a large nose? "Ah! Pass-nose again! Very sneaks, such magnets, much ores, wow!" Michael had to cover his face with his hand at that statement; memes aside, this Pokemon seemed to be in the way, and it had no intention of letting Achaekek go either. "Tch, I'm being pulled in by this thing!" the Scizor hissed, not used to the Rock-type's magnetic pull. "Looks like we've got no choice," Michael sighed. "If that Nosepass wants you to come closer to it, it's about to get its wish. Rock Smash, Metal Claw, then Bullet Punch, make it regret picking a fight with you!" "Right," Chex acknowledged, prepared to use the creature's magnetic pull against it for his first attack. And if it didn't let go after that, it better be ready for a beatdown.

But she had to try, she didn’t like seeing the girl in the sheer amount of stress, plus it would still be a great PR opportunity. Well that, and Melody didn’t think that she would get Princess back if she just walked away. Before she even got a chance to say anything, to Melody’s surprise, the girl opened up and spilled what had happened. Crap she thought This girl has managed to get involved with what could be a smuggling ring. As if the world had decided that it hated it, the moment Melody thought that thought, Princess stiffened and she could hear voices coming down from the end of the alley way. Crap crap double crap. “It’s gonna be alright,” she said to the girl, hopefully in a reassuring tone. “I’ll do the… I mean I will help you find your friend. But first things first, I need you to hide while I deal with these gentlemenn coming our way. Do you understand what I mean?” Goddamn where was the media when you needed it, Melody felt like she was the goddamn heroine in an indie action movie. She motioned for Princess to come to her side and summoned her inner actress, ready to seem as girly, helpless and most importantly very very very blonde. Very very very very disarmingly blonde.

Connor - You’re feeling very frustrated at this point since this entire day has done nothing but test your limits. Now you’re in some serious danger and yet you’re forced to play hero. You can’t take your mind off of that gun and know that something must be done about it or else something really bad might happen. While you’re thinking about that though, the two Ribs members proceed to gang up on Thornhammer and the odds don’t appear to be in his favor. You know that you have no time to waste and kneel down to quietly open up one of your pokeballs while praying they won’t notice you. Red light pours out of the ball and quietly dissipates, revealing a Bellsprout. You glance back up at the scene before you and it would appear that they are so distracted that not even the light got their attention! So far so good. You give Sophie access to your mind and she gets right to work relaying the plan to Ivy.
Ivy steadies himself and begins to use Vine Whip, extending his vines toward the members waist while making sure to not get caught. Meanwhile, Glameow has launched into battle and attempts to Fake Out the opponent. Ivy’s vines have finally made contact with the gun pulling it from the holster, bringing it back, and handing it off to you. Success! Glameow is already very close to making contact with Houndour but Ivy thinks he might still have a shot at preventing it. He is feeling a lot of adrenaline at this point and gets a bit sloppy with his vines, he does not manage to stop Glameow in time. He does, however, manage to sweep his vines through the air and into both of the gang members legs, completely knocking them over. At the same time, Glameow makes contact with Houdour who suddenly appears to be flinching unable to fight back. “Da hell!” All eyes are on you now. It would seem one thing Ivy successfully did was momentarily distract Solrock from attacking because of the commotion. However, the gang members are pissed. The one who had the gun reaches for his waist only to find nothing there. “What the-“ He looks up and sees the gun in your hand and looks at Ivy’s vines, quickly putting the pieces together. He then proceeds to reach into his pocket and pulls out a knife. “Alright you little shit-!” He quickly gets up, holds the knife in the air, and launches at Ivy. At the same time as that, there is a battle still going down. The momentary delay fortunately gave Houndour time to recover from being faked out earlier. Solrock uses Rock Throw, launching a large rock toward Houndour who tries to leap out of the way. It still managed to hit, but it didn’t make complete contact so he is still better than he would have been had he still be flinching. “Houndour!! Quickly use Howl and then use your Ember to take your opponents down!” Thornhammer has surely noticed you, but he is too preoccupied with the battle to have noticed that someone is currently coming at your Pokemon with a knife. The Houndour lets out an intimidating Howl that loudly echos through the tunnels, hurting your ears a bit, but the gang member is too full of rage to be distracted from his goal. Houndour begins to ready itself to use Ember and it is then that you also realize it is so confined in this place, there is good chance that Ember will hit your Bellsprout too. Looks like you’re going to need to think fast. Kawaii - After having received a surprise smack to the face, Cerno became very upset and immediately retaliated. Curling up his little fists in frustration, he dove straight for the Ducklett and began to Mega Drain all of its energy without holding back. The Ducklett closed its eyes tight and began to shake, clearly outmatched due to already being fragile, and unable to escape as all of the life was being drained out of it. As soon as you noticed what was happening you immediately jumped in to put a stop to the poor things pain by calling off Cerno's attack. Cerno was displeased but obediently stopped and floated back over to you while angrily mumbling to himself. Fortunately, you weren’t too late and although the little Ducklett is exhausted it is still hanging in there. It falls to the ground, still shaking uncontrollably and appears to almost be in tears. You felt horrible for what Cerno had done and you are determined to win over this Ducklett with kindness. Kneeling down you put some poketreats in your hand and reach out toward the sad Pokemon. You explain that you are trying to help put out fires and that you need its help. It perked up as you explained, it seemed as if the idea of helping others intrigued it. Maybe because it was tiny, fragile, and seemingly weaker than all of the other Ducklett it had never thought that anyone would actually ask for its help. It stood up on shaking legs and began to slowly approach your hand, gently taking one of the treats and gulping it down. The treat seemed to perk it right up and it let out a little quack and nudged the Dive Ball with its head. You knew exactly what it was getting at and picked up the ball, aimed it at the Ducklett, and pressed the button. Red light poured out and engulfed the Ducklett absorbing it into the ball. Shake. Shake. Shake. DING! Looks like the capture of a Lv. 3 F Ducklett was a success! You’re very happy that you managed to pass the test and took the newly captured Ducklett over to Lorraine. “Ah, good job. Lets see what you’ve caught!” you hand her the Dive Ball and she presses the button releasing your new friend. She kneels down and examines her for a moment, she seems to be a bit hesitant for some reason but heals the Ducklett with a Potion before standing back up. “Hmm, well I suppose she will do. She seems a bit… Scrawny... But, we really need all the help we can get so we can’t be picky.” She leaves the Ducklett out and hands the Dive Ball back to you. “For now, this little girl is going to be the property of the Shanty Height Fire Brigade. However, she is also your partner while you’re volunteering with us so while you’re here you will borrow her and keep her with you.” Lorraine gives you a forced smile and leads you to another training area where there are already several other volunteers working hard with their own newly captured Ducklett's. “Alright so, for this next exercise we are going to test the bond between you and your new partner. We need to do this in order to make sure you two are compatible. If you aren’t able to work together it could do more harm than good while other peoples lives are at stake.” She points toward 6 moving targets in a field. They are very broken and beat down looking, they also aren’t even mechanical, they have actual people holding the targets and walking around with them. “Those targets represent the fire.” You also notice there are 2 people mixed in that aren’t holding targets. “The people without targets, are the ones who need saving. The objective for this training is to work together with your partner Ducklett to put out the “flames” and get the people to safety. You are also allowed to use your own Pokemon too if you wish, but the Ducklett must also work alongside you. Well, you may start at any time, good luck out there!” |

Kawaii was overjoyed with her new catch. Her hopes were only slightly dampened when she was informed that the ducklette was on loan. She was kinda figuring that anyway but it was still down putting. Maybe if the two bonded more and proved to be a good team they might let her keep it. The pinkette has heard of that kindd of thing happening before. She shook off the small depression and directed it's attention to the targets." Alright little one, aim a WATER GUN at that target over there." The little ducklette prepared a water gun attack. She was determined to prove herself better than the others. The little duck took a deep breath in and focused her mind on the target ahead of her. She wanted to show she was not a wimp, she wanted to save people, she wanted to help. The other duckletts were always harrasing her and mean to her telling her that she would never be of any use or and help to anyone. That she would always be alone and in last. The water-type put more and more effort into her aim as she thought over her short life. Maybe she had run into this trainer for a reason. Maybe she could prove herself powerful and useful. The idea of reall fire did not scare the duck-pokemon, in fact, it made her even stronger. She was fearless, she was ready. Kawaii saw the Ducklette's determination and smiled, if only she could keep it. This little pokemon would do so well on her team. The pink-haired trainer had a knack for attracting runts and missunderstood pokemon. She would take them in and raise them to new heights.

He nurtured absolutely no interest in the petty squabbles of the parties engaged in war for control of Bedlam Ridge; he’d long established that remaining neutral in conflicts – and also invisible, ideally – was a sure-fire method for prolonging one’s life; he was adamant in this conviction, and as such preferred to remain as far away as possible from “shells”, “ribs” and even “marshalls”. He was here for another reason entirely, but perhaps the inconspicuous lab coat he wore gave both sides the impression that he would make for a valuable hostage - and before he knew it, there were four rabid men in hot pursuit, wielding things that were probably weapons but which he didn’t have time to stop and properly identify from a distance. He finally lost them after a fifteen-minute chase, and somehow, he managed to find his original destination – the supposedly-neutral Bastion of Vacuous Dreams. Piercing the sky like the Tower of Babel, and met with much the same fate, the colossal structure once represented the center of power in Bedlam. Now, it was abandoned, in disrepair, and unwanted by either faction of the ongoing turf war. To Rorik, that was basically perfect. The Bastion is said to have been built on top of an old shrine. Was Bedlam’s fate the work of a Pokémon deity, angered by the desecration of its place of worhsip? By the shattered link it once had with mankind? If bonds between and men and Pokémon can generate as much strength as I theorize… what kind of power will emanate from the dissolution of one such bond? He hoped he would find answers about Bedlam Ridge’s past, prior to the construction of the Bastion – what creatures were venerated, what kind of relationship they maintained with their worshippers, and why everything had gone south; in doing so, perhaps he would be able to understand the ruin that befell the region. It would serve as invaluable data for his research on the power of emotional connections! As for the documents that lie within, secrets pertaining to the prior government of Bedlam… I want nothing to do with those. The less I know, the better. This isn’t my war, and heavens know I’m ill-equipped to fight one man, let alone an armed group! He was not exactly alone – Gottfried’s Munchlax and the Adoption Center’s Staryu were with him, tucked away in their Balls –, but with his non-existent battling prowess, it amounted to pretty much the same. The longer he remained unnoticed, the better…

Truth is a painful thing to swallow.
The Ribcage Mall.
134: The fight had more of an effect on you than it did on your Vaporeon as you keep back the flow of tears, visibly struggling as your conscience cried out at the thought of your future holding nothing but hardship and battle. Questioning the state Loki was in, you opt to take things mercifully, and give the orders to Kakahai, the weary Eeveelution tiring but on top of the Zorua in terms of stamina and health, and as you convey the intent to force submission, the Vaporeon complies. Rushing at the still dazed fox, the larger pokemon tackles into the flank, knocking him against the post once more and pinning against him as Ross desperately yells at his pokemon to fight back, the furious swiping of small claws against your starter doing little to push her back, and after a brief moment the clawing weakens and ultimately stops as the Zorua can do little else than hold onto her with an exhausted cling. "Okay, okay! I know when we're beat!" Ross calls out, as Kakahai pulls back and gently lets her foe slide to the ground, defeated. The feeling of triumph fills your pokemon with energy as she bounds over to you and almost knocks you out your sandals with a cheerful bark and leap up at you. Kakahai gained 1 level! As this happens, the Rib scoops his pokemon into his arms before turning towards you as the crowd watching murmurs before breaking into a cacophony of applause. You might not have felt it was worthwhile, but the crowd certainly seems to approve. "Grudgeful though I be, ya won fair and square, kid. Like we said, ye're welcome to wait out th' storm here, and we'll see about yer little bird up there too," he chimes respectfully, having been humbled by your tactics. Remembering the Pidove, your eyes are once more drawn to the avian which looks down at you, tilting their head with a coo, before spreading wings and giving a few flaps, as though challenging you to come for it, before taking flight further up towards the higher floors of the mall. As this happens, you feel someone press something into your hands. Checking, you find the notes fluttered towards you for your little strip, and a quick count reveals $150 in cash, plus an interesting object you recognise as a silk scarf, presumably to keep you warm. With the crowd dispersing, a couple of Ribs offer to dry your soaked clothes with a heater nearby, while Ross points out a stairwell you can use if you wish to pursue the Pidove, while Kakahai rubs against your leg, pleased with her first proper battle going positively. The cooes of the Pidove above you, will you follow? Crystal Grove. Missingno. Master: Under normal circumstances, a normal trainer faced with a swarm of rats would run like the wind, hoping they can outlast the horde. You, however, weren't one of those trainers, and with your own pride and life at stake, your plan was to turn the tables on these scavengers. Choosing wisely, you release your faithful companion Marvolo, the experienced Seviper finding the situation less harmful to his life and more harmful towards his diet. The very sight of a big, hungry serpent was enough to send a few of the scrawnier purple Rattata running away, deciding that hunting what little bugs existed was far better than something that looked at them like snacks, choosing flight over fight. This was barely a drop in the ocean, however, as Meowth returned to your shoulder. Taking the brief opportunity, the Seviper sharpened his eyes into a glare seeking to stop the tide in their tracks, as well as asserting his authority as apex predator. The very sight of the stare was enough to greatly slow down the horde, and one or two of the frailer rodents straight up seized up and toppled backwards, likely dying of shock, but some of the foolhardier Alolan Rattata ignored this, choosing to quickly rush at him and nip at him in a mostly futile attack. One of them went for Marvolo's face, only for the much bigger pokemon to snap at it, grabbing it and skewering it on his fangs before gulping the foolish rodent down, giving an approving hiss. Ignoring the mice around him, the serpent inhales before throwing forth a barrage of swiftly moving chunks of energy at the crowd, peppering them in their hesitation. The Rattata squeaked in pain as the barrage assaulted them, a few of the foes falling from head-on impacts while others winced from being grazed. This, however, seemed to spur them to charge, the horde rushing forwards at Marvolo as he began to snap down the rodents, killing another three before the weight began to push against him. While weak, the sheer number of tackles were starting to pile up, and it was enough for the Seviper to bring his brutal bladed tail around and swing violently in front of him. The effect was immediate, as the Rattata were knocked back towards the back, several of them in pieces, both normal and alolan as your dex beeps to deliver information to you regarding the fight, having calculated just how many Rattata there actually were. Before you can check, however, Meowth grabs your attention to sounds behind you. Glancing behind, past Amanda another much smaller squad of rodents had popped out of the walls, with about a dozen or so of normal and alolan variants, flanking your group...and judging by the chittering and Meowth's grip on your shoulder becoming rather painful, their numbers led to them taunting your talking companion. Meowth's anger becomes apparent as he relays the sorts of things they're saying: scaredy cat, the cat with no hat, caterwauling coward, cat got no tongue, catastrophic felines, puss shaking in his boots, and the most offensive one, your feline friend practically shrieking it in anger: Ash Cat-chum and his Whiskered Pi-cat-chu. With two fronts and one very incensed feline facing down one group seemingly intent on asserting his authority in the timeless tale of cat and mouse, you check the dex to determine just how many there are, and almost wish you hadn't. Marvolo's front: 75 regular Rattata, 65 Alolan Rattata. Rear front: 16 regular Rattata, 16 Alolan Rattata. With the battle underway, the rear front begins to move in for the woman as Meowth practically asks for you to throw him into the fray and Marvolo stares down the legion before him. Crimson Sanctum. Gemini Spark: Chex was less than amused by being pulled towards the Nosepass, but you were one to capitalise on this, giving the command to strike using the pull for momentum. Claw dragged back, the Scizor utilised his own metallic hide as a weapon, slamming the appendage into the rock body of the Nosepass, utilising the relatively weak attack to tap into his natural technician roots, striking with greater force. The Nosepass grunted as its rocky armour was smashed into gravel, though you do note that no defence drop occurs due to the external stone absorbing much of the impact. With the threat apparent, the rock type begins to crackle with electricity before launching itself at Chex in a body slam, sparks flying as the proximity between the pair enables the attack to hit true, shoving the mantis back a couple of feet, while you're relieved to see no lasting effects. With the fight starting, Chex takes a metallic sheen as his claw strengthens before giving a swing towards the compass pokemon, while the rock type stands their ground, hardening their body to try and reduce the impact. The super effective hit lands, before Chex punches with his other claw with the force of a bullet, knocking the Nosepass over as Neemee squeaks, rooting for the Scizor. Climbing back to its feet, the Nosepass seems to glower at the steel type, as noticable scuffs and chips on the body notify you of considerable damage, as the bug watches carefully. Charging electricity once more, the Nosepass claps its arms against its head and fires a wave of thunderous energy at Chex, shocking him as his metal body attracts the lightning before paralyzing him, the Scizor dropping to a knee from the move while the rock type begins to channel some sort of illuminant energy before it, Chex faring better in health terms by a fair margin. |

Then Marvolo lashed out with Swift. Some of the Rattata collapsed from this, while others, not so much. In fact, the ones not taken out by Swift took the move merely as their cue to retaliate. Of course, Marvolo responded by eating the unlucky first few to reach him, but soon enough, the damage started to pile up, as did the Rattata. But far from deterred by this, Keith knew the time had come. "Now! Use Brutal Swing!" he ordered Marvolo. And the Seviper responded with a powerful swing of his tail blade, cutting through the onslaught of Rattata (literally in certain cases). At that point, Keith heard a beeping from his Pokédex. "Oh, hey-" he began. "Hey!" Meowth exclaimed, sounding unexpectedly irate. Keith looked- Meowth was glaring at some point behind him, and so he turned to look. "...You gotta be kidding me," Keith groaned. For at that moment, he saw even more Rattata. Thankfully in smaller numbers than what Marvolo was dealing with, but unfortunately, every little bit helps. Or hurts, depending on who you ask. "We gotta deal with- ow, ow, Meowth, that hurts, how many times have I said no claws-" "Yeah, well, youse don't understand wat dey're sayin'," Meowth hissed, enraged. "Da tings dey're callin' me-owth! Scaredy cat! Da cat wit no hat! Caterwauling coward! Cat got no tongue!" "How's that one offensive-" "SHUT UP!" Meowth interrupted. "Catastrophis felines! Puss shakin' in his boots! Ash Cat-chum and his whiskered Pi-cat-chu!" Keith eyed Meowth for a second- he himself didn't see how a couple of those were so offensive, though to Meowth they clearly were. Most of them got the message across pretty clear, of course. In any case, Keith took the opportunity to check his Pokédex, after which his heart took the opportunity to sink. "...Holy crap," he groaned. 75 regular Rattata, 65 Alolan Rattata, and that's just the pack Marv's facing. Our little trash-talkers here, 16 of each kind," he reported. "Lemme at 'em!" Meowth exclaimed, claws extended. "Lemme at 'em! I'll shred every last one 'o dem ta ribbons!" "OK, OK!" Keith exclaimed hastily. One, to prevent Meowth from getting any angrier, and two, because the newcomers were making their way towards Amanda. "Just keep them away from Amanda, alright? Plow through as many as you can with Power-Up Punch, and follow up with the nastiest Fury Swipes you can muster." "Done deal!" Meowth spat, leaping off of Keith's shoulder, all too eager to shut up those relentless ravenous rodents. Keith turned around to face his Seviper. "Marv, how you holding up?" he asked. "I like a little workout to go with my dinner," replied the Sevuper. "But all the same, might be time to even the odds somewhat," he added, with a significant glance at his Trainer. And the significance of this glance was not lost on Keith. He grinned at Marvolo. "Just might be," he agreed. Marvolo turned back to the Rattata, an indecently gleeful grin on his face. "You are all so screwed," he hissed tauntingly. "All right!" Keith exclaimed, moving his arms. The Poisonium Z set into his Z-Ring gleamed brightly as he did so. "Marvolo, let's go!" "Ohhh, yes!" Marvolo cackled in response. "Our minds, our spirits, linked as one!" Keith was saying as he moved. "A power as intense as the Plague Swamp of Cascadia! Feel the poison- BE the poison!" "Yes! Give the command!" Marvolo hissed eagerly as Z-Power flowed into his body, powering him up, giving him the strength and capability to upgrade the powerful Belch move into something even stronger, something he could hopefully use to take out a large quantity of Rattata all at once. "Acid Downpour, let's go!!!" Keith commanded. Code:

Marshal's Headquarters
Balmund: After changing into the slightly bloodied Shell uniform, both you and the Seviper quickly made your exit from the incinerator room and into the hall you had originally snuck into. The dimly lit facility made it fairly easy for Orchrist to remain hidden within the shadows as you retraced your steps out of the storage area and back into the arena. You peaked out from behind the door while Orchrist watched your back, making sure that you remained clear of any potential threats. Brave Saix: You sat in the chair Saoirse had led you to initially, fidgeting and anxious, angry at what it was you had seen occur that had presumably scared Jill as well. The Wonder Room, as the name would imply, certainly eased your curiosity, but it also managed to increase the anxiousness of the atmosphere surrounding you, as well as only answering previous questions with new ones. Why were these people torturing that Chimchar? What reasons could they have had for doing something so heinous, so cruel? Just thinking about what you saw made your heart beat faster, and sweat start to bead on your forehead. TheKnightsFury: Your Pokemon all acknowledged your commands and set off to do their duties, each of them confident but looking a little uneasy. Candace immediately sprinted across the street towards the Vullaby. Worry immediately took hold of the Passimian’s demeanor as it gently reached underneath of the vulture Pokemon and lifted it over its shoulders. It looked around anxiously for a safe place to put the Vullaby when it took notice of a dead tree on the shoulder of the road. The Pokemon quickly ran for it and, with its intense strength, lifted the Vullaby up to a pair of branches that extended outward in unison, hooking under and then upward, forming a sort-of cradle. The Passimian laid the Pokemon down, where it nestled gently in the grasp of the tree, unconscious and barely breathing. Bastion of Vacuous Dreams Emi: Desperate and without much choice left, you staggered through the illusory barrage that was manipulating your senses and pulled back your fist to strike a Drifloon directly. You threw your arm forward, your fist connecting directly with the balloon ghost’s face. Even when you couldn’t trust your other senses, you believed with all of your might that what you were seeing and experiencing here was real. Last edited by deoxys; 06-09-2017 at 09:51 PM. |

Sypher closed his eyes and slowed his breathing. "So that's how it is, huh, McLarty?" he started, remeeting the man's gaze. "I get it. Family is the most important thing to people like us. They're the ones that care the most about us. And we for them. And you come to learn just who you are from them." A smile began to form on his face. "Heh, you've probably got a pretty good idea of just how scared I am right now. But here's the thing, my family taught me its okay to be afraid. That sometimes the best course is just to push back." he continued, tightening his grip. "But your family... Well, James, it seems that all you McLarty's know how to be are sacks of shit." Sypher finished, ramming his knee upwards towards James' groin hoping to drop him, even if temporarily.

Jayson felt a sense of pride as his team spread out before him, each taking to their respective jobs. Candace quickly scooped up the Vullaby and dropped it off in a secure location. Khutulun began to hunt for the lost Pokeball so that they could hopefully withdraw the Darmanitan while Atalanta, Boudicca and Spartacus took turns assaulting the fierce beast. Each attack seemed to wear it down further and a weak point was soon discover, the Darmanitan had injured itself when it attacked Smithie so recklessly. Its power continued to grow however and when it turned on Atalanta, Jayson's heart sank. The tiny Rowlet was struck from the air and sent crashing to the ground by a fiery punch, she failed to get up, she had been OHKO'd. Jayson rushed to her side, shouting out orders to Candace and Spartacus, "Quick you two, Spartacus more Vacuum Waves, Candance get in there and knock the Darmanitan around with a Vital Throw." Jayson scooped the Rowlet up into his arms, he pulled out her Pokeball and quickly recalled her. Swinging his bag off his back, Jayson went to put her ball inside when he saw something he had almost forgotten about. A strange white ring and a sparkling brown crystal, he had found them alongside Boudicca's egg. It was only Atalanta and himself when they found the Mudbray's egg, the strange artifacts tucked away nearby. He had done some research on them, the ring was a Z-Ring and the crystal was a Z-Crystal, Groundium-Z to be exact. They came from the Alola region and when used in synch with a Pokemon they could summon devastating power, the sort of power they needed so desperately. Letting go of Atalanta's Pokeball, Jayson slid the Z-Ring onto his left arm and put the Groundium-Z Crystal on it. Slinging his bag back onto his back, Jayson shouted out to Boudicca, it was time for them to put this power to the test. "Come to me Boudicca, it's time we try this out. Prepare an Earthpower, just go with the flow." Jayson raised his arms across his face, the Groundium Z let out a flash of light. He then swung his arms in an arc around to his hips before thrusting them out in front of himself, his left wrist on top of his right. He pulled his arms back to his left before spinning clockwise, slamming his right hand into the ground while holding his left arm up in the air. Energy began to swarm around Boudicca, giving her unimaginable strength, "Tectonic Rage!" |

As this mysterious trainer was then escorted off to her requested destination. Duke found himself under her gaze. He remained stoic, but he couldn't help raising an eyebrow in curiosity as tried to figure out her body language. Was her tension and impatience a signal to follow as soon as possible, or perhaps a warning of some sort? Either way, there was only one way forward at this point. They where heading toward the stairs, just as him, so he might as well follow along. The question now was, was the lounge all there was to B1F, or did some other secret lay hidden for him to uncover? ((My sincere apologies for the wait - hoping to be more punctual in the future.))
Ex-Admiral Insane – After taking in the sight before them, with all of its strange, gory details, the two had to agree - everything about this setup reeks of a trap, and Rags was not about to let his trainer walk right into it. Even so, the Pokeball close to the body's outstretched hand suggested there could be a creature in need of help, and neither Rags nor Lucas could turn their backs on that possibility – even if Lucas hides this concern behind a the veil of a callous thief. First thing's first, though – they needed to make sure that the woman on the floor was not still living. As they close in on the figure, Rags unleashes his Wide Guard to protect himself and his trainer from any traps that may be awaiting them. The sickly-sweet, coppery smell becomes stronger as they approach. The blood on the floor has clearly darkened, become sticky. Gently, carefully turning the figure over, they see the face of the woman, roughly in her early twenties, frozen in shock. Her brown hair tumbles limply as she turns over, the tips caked in blood. The ghastly laceration on her neck is clearly fatally deep – if it were caused by a Pokemon, it would have to be one capable of wielding blades or blade-like appendages. There are no visible signs of decay, or indications of bloating; however, the lack of pulse, absence of breath and beginning signs of livor mortis in the extremities lead to the inevitable, morbid conclusion that they are absolutely dealing with a corpse. Her corpse suggests some kind of strange uniform, but not one immediately recognized... The sound of crackling shocks Lucas and Rags, sending the latter immediately on the defensive, ready to False Swipe the cause of the noise... shortly after, a static-laden male voice bursts through the silence: “Adrie? Adrie, it's Sid! I'm hearing something on your end – are you and Vivi okay? We haven't heard from either of you in hours. Please, answer!” On closer inspection, the corpse has an Xtranceiver attached to her wrist. The caller is requesting video feed. Will you answer the call, or take the Pokeball and run? Tyoyo3131 – After quietly watching the situation unfold, Jade makes the decision that the injured man and his group of Combee may need her assistance; after all, the enemy of one's enemy would be considered a friend, right? Even so, Jade encourages Maxwell to be diplomatic, as such a heart-racing encounter with the Shells likely left both man and Combee tense and suspicious of others. Indeed, as the pair approach, Florian perks up, humming in warning to his trainer. The man winces as he turns to face them, his cautious gaze scanning the girl and Buizel for any hints of their intent. Giving the young man the universal symbol for peace, Jade provides an introduction for herself and Maxwell. The young man, with his free hand, very cautiously returns the symbol, a wry smile forming on his face, in spite of his pain. “The name's Lyle, and this is Florian. As you saw, this little boy and his crew have bug bites worse than stings from a Beedrill, so you two better watch yourselves.” The threat is more playful and prideful than serious, and Lyle's chest wells up with confidence in his Pokemon - but the action forces an anguished expression, followed by distressing cough. Florian's sad little hum as he watches over his trainer betrays his deep concern. Lyle shakes his head. “You say you wanna help, huh... Once the Combee fly back in with their report, the injured are going to need tending. The Combee mark the doors with honey to let us know who needs our help. Medical resources are scarce, and if you have any to share, we would be in your debt. Hell, even if you can wrap some gauze around the wound and tell 'em everything's gonna be okay... even if it's not...” Lyle pauses, taking a deep, shuddering breath. “...that would be enough.” As if on cue, the sound of buzzing once again wells from within the building, reaching a fever pitch as the group of Combee rejoin their trainer. The sound is frantic, distressed – and Lyle's expression quickly melts into worry. Without saying a word, or providing any explanation, he turns to leave, his group of Combee leading the way. The door seems to have been left open for Jade and Maxwell – they should remember to close it once they come inside. Florian stays behind a moment, giving Jade a long, imploring look, as if trying to beg her for something, before leaving to join his fellow Combee. It's hard to understand exactly what that gaze meant. From their vantage point, Jade and Maxwell can see that there is an apartment door not far from the dim, dirty entryway clearly smeared with fresh honey – but Lyle and his Combee crew walk right on past it. Something more pressing demands their attention, but it's hard to say what. Jade and Maxwell could go into this honey-marked ground-floor apartment and see if they can provide assistance to the wounded there – they could search out other doors in the apartment – or they can follow Lyle to see where he's going. What will Jade and Maxwell do? |

Ffion was no great researcher of the occult - Minerva or her sister would be better trainers to ask about such matters - but the cards she had forcibly pulled from her former audience were really quite intriguing. She had to admit to herself that she hadn't experienced anything like this before, either real or imagined, and regardless of which choice she made, she would be wandering into a world quite unknown. Surely, these cards had deeper meanings, well-founded symbolism... but the choice between masculine and feminine, scepter and ankh, would have to be based on intuition alone. And Ffion knew herself well enough to know that, despite the "feminine" aspects associated with powers like hers... despite her small stature and girlish style of dress... she was a burly, shit-talking, tough-as-nails Emperor deep down. She ruled the castle, and if the choice came down to it, she would rather wield the ankh than the scepter... Though she couldn't really say why. Ffion lets go of the Empress with a flick of the wrist. She had no idea if it was the right choice, or even if there was a right choice to be made, but either way, the show must go on, and she couldn't very well throw both of them out, could she? The temptation was there, certainly... but those mannequins went to pieces for this, after all, so she may as well be respectful enough to keep a card. |

Hiero gritted his teeth, and pulled his hand across his face. It's hard to say whether or not this woman was actually real, but for now it was important that he just continued to remain vigilant and watched how this played out. "Pera, stand guard next to me for a moment while I tend to her." Hiero knelt down beside the woman. "You're in the Bastion of Vacuous Dreams, in Bedlam Ridge. I found you here as I was exploring. You didn't look like you were in good shape... are you alright? Are you injured?" Hiero pulled out a bottle of unopened water from his backpack and handed it to the woman. "Please, drink. Who knows how long you've been without water." He waited a moment to give the woman some time to come to her senses before pressing further. "My name is Hiero. Can you tell me yours? And, if possible - what's the last thing you remember?" Unsure if a specter had been possessing this woman or not, Hiero again questioned if this was even real or just another hallucination. He suspected that, for the first time, this wasn't just a trick, but he needed to keep his guard up and question everything. The way the woman responded should hopefully be enough for Hiero to determine whether or not it was, based on body language, mannerisms, and what she had to say. For the time being, it seemed likely that she had been possessed, and that when Mimikyu attacked, it exorcised the spirit from her body. He wasn't completely set on this though, and whatever she had to say would most likely solidify a conclusion for him to draw. As soon as he got some answers, and made sure the woman was safe, Hiero would follow the direction the apparition had disappeared off to. He wasn't done with it yet. |
