I never found Upstart to be very useful in Shaddolls. Took up room and we had a better version of it anyways in Beast. Not sure if I'm running it in Mermail right now although I don't think I am. Sylvan doesn't have the room for it.

It also makes your opponent's ROD less risky for them to use.
I dunno I get the feeling its going to be a little like Soul Charge format where Upstart was passed over.

Well, what the opponent runs shouldn't be a concern as far as your deck's mechanics are concerned. I can say that a failed OTK attempt by me, which I then undid with Upstarts, rendered ROD surprisingly dead.

I guess. I don't think ROD is going to render Hoban usage obsolete (not like Soul Charge almost did back when it was at 3 and defined the metagame), but its certainly something to consider.
I actually quite like the new Ring of Destruction. Funny enough its also hilarious to use against Qliphort!

I always feel that unless there is some rather large hit to the deck like Manju/Senju to 1 or Unicore to 1 that Claus is almost always optimal at 1. It's not exactly a card that gives any real advantage. You don't want to open with too many Ritual Spell cards because those are the hands that cause you to brick like a motherfucker. With the new room I personally put in a Mathematician engine. 3 Math, 1 Peropero, 1 Glow-Up Bulb. It's something that mirrors what the OCG is doing because of the lack of Unicore, which is to use engines like Deskbots and Mathematician/Jet Synchron to make Herald of the Arc Light, which is a completely busted card in Ritual decks. I'm using it because I have the room since I dropped 6 cards (2 Prep, 1 Brio, 3 MST).

Decks are SO POWERFUL right now.
Even against a garbo Raid Raptor deck, without the benefit of Soul Charge, his cards are explosive enough that he could pull off something dumb like stall stall stall. I couldn't do anything really to further my push aside from draw oppressive S/T destruction. I had this same issue against Edge Imp/Fluffals. >opponent plays Toy Vender >discards Edge Imp Chain for cost >I chain MST >I go -1 What the fudge!!

I lost about 5 games in a row before barely pulling out a win against Yosenju...despite having card advantage in the vicinity of about +15.
I mentioned it earlier but decks right now HEAVILY favour being able to counter an opponent's field. It puts immense pressure on having three types of disruption: 1. Effect negation 2. Monster removal 3. Search blockers Most advantage generation is keyed toward adding to hand searchers, effect removal and high attack beatsticks, which Yosenju all are. The stupid reality of dropping two weasels and bouncing two bosses is omnipresent in the game right now. I dropped THREE backrow to stop his OTK, ROD/CED/BOM. Then, I had to mass draw just to put up any kind of counter attack since I had used up all my Doppelwarriors drawing out that backrow. It isn't a kind meta right now. Not at all.

I think the joke is that compared to other decks in the game Yosenju right now are actually barely on the competitive scene. They really need Lose a Turn to be effective.

It's target saturation. Most decks run three MST and that's their only S/T removal. If you run a bunch of other S/T that demand removal, more one or more backrow is going to be extremely oppressive.
I'd burnt TWO MST already in that game, hitting both UA Stadium and BTH. That left me vulnerable to Warning, which would have been game ending if that guy wasn't an idiot (hitting Junk Synchron with it...and not aggro tanking afterward).

Yeah I gotta say BTH is a royal pain for Pendulum (see also: Solemn Warning).
But huh I'm embarrassed I forgot Fusion Conscription was a thing gonna have to add that to Yuya.dek and Sora.dek. |
