Although the Sableye was the size of a Joltik compared to the Mega Pokemon, the punch caught it off guard. Mio the Pikachu took advantage of the distraction to Flash Abomasnow with a bright light, causing it to shut its eyes and groan before blindly trying to strike anyone it could reach. She then Quickly Attacked the towering Pokemon on its opposite side. Ore, still near Abomasnow, Jabbed the Ice type with Poison. As Abomasnow regained its sight, it swats Ore away as he uses Brick Break and delivers a swift chop to Abomasnow’s body. Mio surrounded her fist with electricity and Punched Abomasnow with the power of Thunder. The electricity danced across Abomasnow’s body but was not enough to paralyze it.

After attacking Snover with Incinerate Kyle the Heatmor kept to his fire attacks and started up more flames for Fire Pledge. He sent a column of fire rushing toward Abomasnow, striking part of the fur hanging off its arm. It lifted up its arm in the air just as Kyle’s Fire Blast grazed it. It grumbled as it surrounded its arm with ice cold air and caused several Ice Shards to come up from the ground. One struck Kyle and sent him flying into the air. Before another shard can hit Hotstuff, he is surrounded by light and powerful energy. His form changes and as the light fades the Charmeleon begins to follow his trainer’s next instructions. He leapt into the air and slashed Abomasnow up and then down with Aerial Ace. Abomasnow attempted to strike Hotstuff out of the air, but the Charmeleon blew two Flamethrowers as it continued to soar through the air. Abomasnow took the damage from the fire attacks, causing it to not notice that Hotstuff had landed behind it.

Rorik and Volg decided to switch up their strategy. The Charizard used its powerful wings to make its way through the storm to the wall of the cliff that the Delibird had been on. He sent down a Rock Slide that poured down on to Abomasnow. Abomasnow raised its huge head up to blow and Icy Wind at Volg, making it harder for him to keep flying. As he comes down, the Charizard hits his opponent with Acrobatics. While his wings were still near Abomasnow, he hardened them with Steel Wing and sliced across its body. While Abomasnow is distracted with Volg, Rena Jump and Kicked the Frost Tree Pokemon. It knocked Abomasnow off balance, and Rena pushed it the rest of the way by smashing her antlers into it with Megahorn. Abomasnow yelled in anger as it was pushed into the wall of its cave. Taking a note from Volg, it swiped an Avalanche down onto Volg and Rena. Rena acted fast and blasted some rocks and snow out of the way with Hyper Beam. The move obviously took a lot out of her, and she would definitely have to take a short rest and recharge before she could attack again. Volg was nowehere to be seen under the pile of snow and rocks. The Avalanche had also landed on Kimball the Vanillite. The icy Pokemon was surprised at the amount of snow that had landed on her, but didn’t mind the cold too much. She shook off a layer of snow and ice with Autotomize and immediately felt much faster. She charged up and sent a beam of prismatic light, hitting Abomasnow with a Signal Beam square in the chest. Excited to have a bit of fun with her moves, Kimball created a big heart-shaped Chocolate and let it explode like a Bomb. Abomasnow looked confused that it had just been attacked with confectionaries. Small pieces of chocolate landed in the snow, laying there for anyone to take a bite if they wanted to.

Abomasnow raised the two sharp icicles on its back into the air and Swaggered at Kimball and Mio. The Pokemon felt their attack power raise as the Abomasnow acknowledged them, but also became rather confused. It had noticed that Rena’s Sap Sipper negated the effects of its Seed Bomb, so tried instead to hit as many targets as it could with Blizzard. Every Pokemon and trainer felt the effect of the freezing cold wind, but Kyle was frozen in place.
The giant Abomasnow and Snovers threw Icy Winds and Blizzards as her fellow Trainers' Pokémon responded with a variety of attacks, but Melissa only hunkered down further into her jacket and tried to keep an eye on her own. Ore's Sucker Punch was successful and he ended up tag-teaming with a Pikachu to keep the Abomasnow distracted. The Poison Jab didn't look to have done anything more than hurt it, though the same could be said of the Pikachu's Thunder Punch. She couldn't quite tell whether Ore landed his Brick Break from this distance, especially since her Sableye was sent flying soon after.

"Ore?" She squinted in the direction he'd gone flying in. It took a moment, but a dark smudge pulled itself out of the snow, brushing the remaining snow off of itself and grumbling under its breath.

"Doing okay?" He looked over to her at the question and nodded, chittering under his breath as he shot a dirty look up at the sky and then at their opponents.

"...clearly, he's already Plotting Nasty things to do to them, so let's just move on to the next thing," Melissa muttered to herself, before raising her voice. "Once you're done thinking up all the ways you'd like to screw them over, let's try hitting the giant Abomasnow with Confuse Ray and then Dazzling Gleam."

Ore blinked and then glanced down at his claws.

"No, let someone else hit it close up. Then we can sneak up from behind and hit it again."

Ore tapped a claw on his chin thoughtfully as Wildfire popped his head out from where Melissa had stuffed him into her jacket.

"Cyndaquil quil cyndaquil."

Ore grimaced and then nodded, turning to face the giant Abomasnow and Snover once again.

Gary smiled as he watched Rena battle admirably against the monstrous Mega Abomasnow. Displaying both grace as she leapt across the snowy plains and sheer power as she rammed the beast with her antlers, Gary was in awe of his Stantler as she thrived on the battlefield. Rena finished things off with a powerful Hyper Beam, leaving her quite exhausted. Even though he knew she could probably keep going, it was time to give her a much deserved rest.

“You’ve done great, Rena,” he called out as he held up her Christmas Ball. Rena looked a little disappointed that it was already time to return, but her deep breaths were a telltale sign that Gary didn’t want to risk putting her in danger. The Stantler obediently returned into her ball as Gary gazed up at the Abomasnow.

An idea suddenly popped into his head as he pulled out a familiar Luxury Ball and tossed it. “Come on out, Akame!” he called out as the ball popped open, revealing a Pawniard in a bright light. The steel type Pokemon looked around at her setting and then found the giant opponent before her. “Alright Akame, it’s time for a little redemption, how’s that sound?” Gary didn’t need to ask her twice as she quickly nodded and bared her bladed hands. “Good. Let’s start off by building up your Iron Defense. This foe is a lot tougher than the ones you were battling before! After that, get in there and hit it with an Iron Head and then follow it up by getting Revenge after it attacks!”

With hail continuing to pelt down from above, the sheer cold that Abomasnow emanated seemed to put a damper on fire attacks. However, the trainers’ spirits burned as bright as ever as they carried on with determination to take the beast down and return the Cloud Garden to the way it should be.

Mistilteinn, the other Mega Abomasnow in the fight, braced himself for another round against his much larger doppelganger. He pumped his long, tree trunk-like arms as a pair of light blue Swords of energy Danced around him before dissipating and sharply increasing his attack power. Sensing the powerful aura building inside its counterpart, the beastly Mega Abomasnow turned toward Mistilteinn and surrounding Pokemon and prepared to attack. With one wave of its arm, Abomasnow unleashed a flurry of pine needles that were as sharp as a Razor Leaf at them. Kai the Vaporeon prepared herself, ready to Endure whatever was sent her way, but Happy the Flareon had other plans as he quickly Detected the attack and pushed her out of the line of fire, taking the attack for critical damage instead.

Battered from the attack, Happy cheered Mistilteinn on as he gave the Abomasnow a Helping Hand by offering a good chunk of his remaining energy. Mistilteinn hurried up to the Mega Abomasnow as fast as his small legs could take him, and using his powerful arms as a pivot, spun around to strike it with a crushing Iron Tail. Mega Abomasnow certainly felt that one as it took a step back and groaned in displeasure. Not wanting to let the opportunity go to waste, Kai joined in with a combination of back to back Iron Tails of her own, further adding insult to Mega Abomasnow’s injury. Abomasnow roared and released a powerful Blizzard on the group of Pokemon, but this time it was Sigurd the Gallade’s turn to step forward. With one powerful stomp, Sigurd channeled the rocks in the earth below him and summoned a wall of stone that created a Wide Guard to protect Happy, Kai, and Mistilteinn from the attack. As soon as the attack finished, the rocks quickly crumbled away.

Looking to keep up the pressure, Sigurd employed a mental block on Abomasnow and Disabled it from creating more Blizzards. Looking to join in on the barrage of psychological warfare, Kong the Slaking began to channel a great amount of psychic energy as he focused on Abomasnow. The icy boss Pokemon glared at the pair and smacked the Gallade hard with its arm, a powerful Wood Hammer sending Sigurd flying into the Slaking. As the snow kicked up by the collision cleared, Jayson waited for his Pokemon to get up and retaliate. However, Sigurd simply laid there and yawned, playing Truant while Kong got to his feet and flexed with a smile, feeling Justified in his actions.

Fresh on the scene, Glitch the Porygon analyzed its opponent and began to Download its attack data. In order to take countermeasures, the Porygon proceeded to boost its own attack before moving on to increasing its Agility. The Porygon then looked to create an opportunity for others by releasing a wide Electroweb net to pin Abomasnow down. Kong charged forward as a massive amount of energy swelled into his fist. The Slaking connected with a devastating Dynamic Punch, knocking the Abomasnow back a couple of steps and slightly disorienting it a bit. Abomasnow roared and retaliated with an Ice Punch, hitting Kong hard and knocking him back as well.

Having had ample time to charge up energy, Caeda the Skarmory glowed brightly and slammed into Abomasnow for a powerful Sky Attack. Annoyed that it was unable to retaliate with the full force of winter as its Blizzard remained disabled, Abomasnow blew forth an Icy Wind instead, chilling the Skarmory as well as the Slaking and Porygon near her. Mistilteinn stepped in as well, hoping to absorb some of the damage done to his allies before returning the favor with a powerful Avalanche, sending a wave of snow and ice in the direction of Abomasnow. Looking to mitigate future ice damage, Glitch executes its Conversion program version 2.0 as its type begins to change… Not to be deterred, Caeda swooped in to hit Abomasnow with a quick Iron Head before veering off to soar back around once again. The Skarmory began to glow with a burst of blue flames around her body and slammed into Abomasnow with a powerful Brave Bird. Abomasnow roared and its eyes began to glow, firing off an Ice Beam that ripped across the battlefield. Having consumed a massive amount of energy, Caeda was unable to dodge in time and crashed into the snow, defeated. Glitch was hit as well, but took it well as a swell of water energy coursed through its programming. Happy was yet another who was too worn out to dodge, taking the hit before deciding it was time to Pass the Baton to a teammate in wait. Vi the Blaziken quickly took the Flareon’s place, ready to go.

Abomasnow had taken quite a few hits this round and was not quite looking as fresh as before. Despite the few remaining Snover that attempted to support their boss, the trainers’ efforts were making slow and steady progress on the behemoth. It did not come without a price, however, as many of the remaining Pokemon opposing the Abomasnow were beginning to tire out. Abomasnow glared an icy stare out at its opponents, not expecting them to have done this well against it so far. From here on out, it resolved to double its ferocity just as the icy winds that blew across the mountainside seemed to pick up in intensity as well. It seemed to have some kind of plan in mind, and it might just resort to it if pushed hard enough. Whatever it was plotting, only time would tell.

Do not mind how the updates were grouped; we simply organized them that way so it would be easier to type. You are free to collaborate with people from the other updates.
Lucas looked on as Kong charged his Psychic energy, which was no small feat for a brute ape like him. His eyes widened in momentary shock as another trainer’s Gallade was struck with a Wood Hammer and blown into the path of the attack. The two Pokémon picked themselves up and Lucas wondered if the Skill Swap had even been pulled off. Kong gets up eagerly though, pounding his chest in triumph. The Gallade, however, was a bit less fortunate, as it decided to dither on the floor to take a rest. Lucas had to stifle a laugh before calling out to the trainer Jayson and his Argonaut.

“Now you now what it’s like,” Lucas chuckled, realising the Gallade, Sigurd, must have ended up the target of the Skill Swap.

Jayson, however, quickly recalled his ally Pokémon, preferring not to battle with such a disadvantage, and replaced him for his new ally; a Scizor. Lucas clicked his teeth at the sight. ’A pity,’ he thought as he would have liked the idea of having his Gallade fight alongside Sigurd. While Lucas continued his light laughter, Kong moved in with his attacks, upset and angry at the Pokémon thrown towards him. He took it out by charging a Dynamic Punch and smacking the Abomasnow across the cheek. The giant monster appeared in a daze. ’Success’ Lucas thought for a moment, until it turned out it wasn’t enough to stop it, and the Abomasnow retaliated with an Icy Punch.

The attacks piled on top of one another as Kong was struck by an Icy Wind along side some of the other combatants. Blows were dealt by the Slaking’s allies as well though, among which were a Skarmory’s Sky Attack and another Abomasnow’s Avalanche.

“Kong!” he turned to his Slaking, “use-“

“SLAAAA!” he protested as he took in the sight of the other Pokémon attacking the wild Abomasnow.

Lucas pondered for a while what Kong was arguing against when it hit him. Sigurd must have had the ability ‘Justify’. Lucas’ own Gallade had the exact same ability, and it made him a noble combater who preferred honest battles. Gang-ups from an entire team against one Abomasnow didn’t seem fair, even if it was one who was particularly large and savage. Kong, a berserker who preferred brutish tactics, was quite unlike Rags, but gaining the ability ‘Justify’ with Skill Swap in all likelihood made Kong adopt the Gallade’s personality as well. But rather than taking up Sigurd’s quirks, Rags’ extended stay in his surroundings must have rubbed off his sense of Justice.

Lucas contemplated deeply on the problem with a simple ‘I see’. There was no clear way around this. Best options were to focus on one Snover at a time instead, as that wouldn’t have to violate Kong’s newfound sense of ‘justice’.

“King-Ki!” Kong yelled, pointing towards the rubble on the mountain-side caused by the Abomasnow’s Avalanche. Stones and boulders had chipped and cascaded down from the ridge above where Kong pointed to next.

“Sla-sla-kiing!”

Lucas nodded in defeat. It was as best a plan as any. Lucas didn’t have to understand his Pokémon’s speech to understand his intention. Just like Rags’ would have, Kong now wanted to investigate the party who went after the Delibirds. The Avalanche attack may have caused trouble above, and currently only (one/)two trainers had gone after the Delibirds. For all Lucas knew, they could have been caught underneath some rubble.

“Fine!” Lucas shouted with a hint of dismay. “Let’s go!” He hopped onto the Slaking’s back, slung his arms around his neck and issued the command. “Kong, Rock Climb up the Ridge.”

Lucas turned one last time to Jayson while his Slaking ran towards the cliff’s side. “Thanks for all your help again!” he grinned.

The plan was to scale the cliff towards Delibird’s Ridge with Rock Climb and see if Athena was in any chance trapped or in need of help. Hopefully, Kong could use Strength to move any rubble or boulders if he had to.

There were only so many times Rorik could get lucky. He'd been fortunate in his inexperience up until that point, and Volg's pure skill had allowed them to score some precious hits on Abomasnow, but the scales of destiny had evened and Rorik's luck had ran out. The Professor could only look on as, after a furious Avalanche, his Charizard was buried in a mountain of snow, vanishing from sight completely.

No... I... I have to get him out of there!

Moved by uncharacteristic desperation, the Heimlan prepared to run into the battlefield and dig his friend out. But intervening quickly before his Trainer did something stupid, Guntz stepped in front of Rorik, blocking his path.

"Get out of there! Can't you see what happened? Volg is..."

Shaking his head, the Snorlax bent over and placed a reassuring hand on Rorik's shoulder. It took him a while to understand how on earth Guntz could be so calm, but then he understood - it wasn't that the bear was being heartless, but that he had complete trust in Volg to find a way out of his predicament without Rorik having to endanger himself to rescue the dragon.

"You're... you're right. But how can we?..."

Sensing Rorik's concern, Zyll stepped forward and nudged his leg, grabbing his attention. Then, he motioned his head towards Stahl, giving Rorik an idea.

"That's right! It... it could work!"

Volg might be unable to hear him, but that didn't mean Rorik lacked means to reach his partner. Shouting would do no good, but he could rely on Stahl's Psychic power to link their minds and communicate by telepathy! He hoped...

"Stahl, come closer," he asked the Shiny Starmie. "I need you to try and join my mind and Volg's, see if you can sense him beneath the snow!"

Volg? Volg, can you hear me? You need to break out of there! Show Abomasnow that ice can't stop you, unearth yourself with Blast Burn!!

He unclipped Volg's Ball from his belt, and prepared to spot his friend amidst the chaos that would ensue to recall him. He wouldn't risk his partner's safety any longer - Volg had done a lot, but it was time for a fresh fighter to join the battle and finish what the Charizard started!

With Athena’s Mawile holding the large group of Delibird back away from the edge where they were throwing explosive gifts down onto those who were trying to fight Abomasnow, the majority of the trainers who helped round them up have left to join the fight down below.

However, there was one trainer who stayed behind, intent on catching one of the festive birds for themselves. Conveniently, there was a perfect target for such an occasion since one of the Delibird’s had managed to separate itself from the flock that Athena was keeping together. While keeping his eye on the Delibird, Trono the Alolan Geodude Charges his energy in order to properly prepare for his next attack. The Delibird still hasn’t noticed him so he uses that as an opportunity to charge in with another one of his electrifying Tackles which has been powered up even more due to his Charge. The Delibird is completely knocked off its feet from the surprise attack, causing it to drop its bag and several Presents slip out from inside. The Delibird frantically tries to shove the gifts back into its bag but Bill uses this moment as an opportunity to throw a pokeball and it gets pulled inside, forced to leave two presents behind. Just as Trono is finishing up with a Defense Curl the Presents both open up and explode simultaneously, injuring him quite a bit; fortunately, he had raised his defense before the explosion and wasn’t damaged as badly as he would have been. The pokeball containing the Delibird had rolled slightly away due to the explosions but was now wobbling in the snow until finally, it clicks! Congratulations! Bill captured a lv. 13 female Delibird!

Meanwhile, the fight with the Abomasnow was getting more intense, a large group of Snover had popped out of the snow and were now healing any damage the Abomasnow had already taken! Several trainers turned their attention toward the Snover in order to put a stop to them aiding the Abomasnow. First, Kyle the Heatmor blows a stream of fire at the Snover in an attempt to Incinerate some of them. The flames were a bit weakened but they managed to go through two of the nearby Snover. One of them huffed and blew an Icy Wind at Kyle in retaliation. Once the flames from the attack completely disappear, Blaze the Torchic charges toward those same two Snover with an Agility. Just before the nearest Snover could attack, Blaze leaps into the air with Bounce and is far out of the Snover’s reach. When Blaze comes back down he crashes into the Snover which angers it quite a bit, causing it to throw several Ice Shards at Blaze. This doesn’t slow him down though, despite the hit he uses his Rock Slide to bury the Snover, as well as the Snover next to it. As rocks fall from above, the second Snover, who could tell it wouldn't be able to stand for much longer, plays a Grass Whistle, the melody makes its way to Blaze’s ears and just as the last rock falls, so does Blaze, sound asleep in the snow. The two Snover he was attacking were also done for under the pile of rocks.

Nearby, Éclair the Mawile was Biting through any Ingrained roots she could get her hands on. The Snover were getting annoyed but felt that they had plenty of roots to spare, it wasn’t until she began to Taunt them that they finally had enough of her. Razor Leaves flew at Éclair from different directions, she seemed to draw the attention of three Snover but that didn’t slow her down. She ran through the attacks and bit down on the Snover in the center with her Poison Fang injuring it as well as leaving it with a nasty poison. It’s clear that it’s barely hanging on now, it seems that this particular Snover was the main target of Éclair’s root biting. The three Snover begin pelting Éclair with Ice Shards which is starting to overwhelm her a bit. Seeing the situation that Éclair is in, Belial the Houndoom let’s out a Howl in order to pump himself up and then charges in and smashes his Iron Tail into the Snover next to the one that Éclair had sunk her fangs into. The Snover immediately goes down and shortly after that, the poisoned Snover is overwhelmed by the poison and goes down with it. The remaining Snover, who is still feeling the effects of Éclair’s Taunt, begins to hurl some more Razor Leaves at Éclair, some of the leaves going past her and hitting Belial as well. Belial then runs up and uses another Iron Tail on this new target, taking this Snover down as well.

Eclair ran a large arc around the Abomasnow. She had her eye on the thick roots that were healing it. With a swift jolt of her neck, she snapped the jaws on the back of her head down onto a root. She was able to rip through a few of them, but there was no response from Snover. She let out an angry hiss as a nearby Snover commanded another root to provide nutrients to Abomasnow. The Mawile approached the Snover and Taunted it by getting in its face. She stuck her tongue out and pulled down one of her eyelids, then ran off as the Snover began to pelt her with Razor Leaves. Eclair gave a knowing look at Athena as she stopped suddenly and chomped into one of the Snover following her. The poison she had covered her fangs in made Snover writhe in pain, and Eclair couldn't help but giggle. Looking on, Athena did the same, taking joy in her and Eclair's success.
"'Clair look out!" Athena gasped as Ice Shards began to rain down on her Pokemon. Eclair tried dodging out of the way, but there were just too many. She crouched and placed her arms over her head while swinging her secound mouth around to try and ward off the attacks. Luckily, another trainer's Houndoom was quick to jump in and help. He took out the Snover still attacking Eclair, and she was able to stand up again and shake herself off.
Athena noted that she'd have to thank the Houndoom's trainer later.
"You ok?" She called out to her Mawile. Eclair threw her a thumbs up. "Great! Bring some more of those Snover over with Sweet Scent. Then get them worried with Fake Tears, these guys can't be that mean." Eclair nodded and snapped her jaws again.
"Try to get a bunch of them this time, with Flash Cannon!"

The Mega Abomasnow saw no difference in the number of its opponents, it towered over them all the same. Though its Snover subordinates had begun to be attacked, it had still received a boost from their Ingrained roots.

Melissa sent out her Sableye, Ore and directed him to get the first priority in this part of the battle. Just as Abomasnow was about to strike the group of trainers with Ice Punch, Ore landed a Sucker Punch across Abomasnow’s face.

The fight raged on, and at one point, Abomasnow let fly a powerful Blizzard. A potent Ice move that hit all Pokémon what that opposed it, and fortunately, it only left one of them frozen, as opposed to most or all of them. Unfortunately for Keith, that one was Kyle! "Kyle!" Keith exclaimed. He hesitated- Kyle clearly needed help, but on the other hand, he'd be an idiot to just run out onto the battlefield- he might get hit himself!

"Youse better heal him up, and quick, hat man," Vinny advised Keith.

"Well, that goes without saying, but how?" said Keith. "What, am I just gonna run out there, maybe right into the path of an Ice Beam or something?"

"No," Vinny shook his head. "You's gonna call Kyle back into his ball, send him back out right in front o' youse, and heal him up here."

"...What would I do without you, Vinny?" Keith remarked, holding out the Level Ball. "Kyle, come back now!" And once the recall beam and the Heatmor it was targeting were both back inside, Keith got down off of Vinny and threw the modified Red Apricorn into the air. "And back out again!" he declared, sending back out the frozen Heatmor, now in much closer proximity. "And I got just the thing to heal him up, too," he added, reaching into his Berry Bag. "Those presents this morning were beautifully timed." Indeed, as he spoke, he pulled out the very Aspear Berry he received that same morning. His intention, to use it for its intended purpose- namely, thaw out Kyle.

Once this was done, Kyle gave Keith a grateful nod. "Mor Heatmor!" he said.

Keith nodded back, smiling. "Let's do this, then, Kyle. We gotta go all-out here." As he spoke, he held up his left hand. And by extension, the Z-Ring on his left wrist.

Kyle's gaze met the Poisonium Z, and he knew immediately what Keith was getting at. "Mor!" nodded Kyle. He turned around and stepped forward once more, glaring up at the giant Mega Abomasnow. This was not his first time going up against a gargantuan adversary. And Keith knew- Kyle was way stronger now than he was back when they'd taken on Heatran. Kyle was capable of much more than just Hone Claws, Tackle, and Lick- even if said Lick attack had been key in revealing Heatran's weak spot- and while Kyle didn't get to do much against Mega Glalie... both he and Keith knew, this was his moment.

"Let's do this, Kyle!" Keith declared, moving his arms, his Poisonium Z gleaming brightly as he did so.

"Heat! Mor!" Kyle responded, copying his Trainer's movements, the pair as in sync as ever.

"Our minds, our spirits, linked as one!" said Keith as he proceeded to do the Poisonium Z pose. "A power as intense as the Plague Swamp of Cascadia! Feel the poison- BE the poison!"

"Heeeeeeeat!" screeched Kyle, the Z-Power flowing into him, strengthening him, souping up that Gunk Shot into something truly spectacular.

"This is our true power!" Keith exclaimed. "Use Acid Downpour!!!"

Kyle surrounded itself with its Z-Power!

Kyle unleashes its full-force Z-Move!

Between the efforts of Blaze and the other Pokemon present, the Snover looked to be well handled. Her little birdie had buried two of them underneath some rather big rocks before taking a snooze. She had the items on her to cure such a condition, but Alice decided to let her Torchic rest for the moment instead. After all, it wasn't as if the fire-type's attacks were particularly efficient against their main foe.

"Atsumu!" After she recalled her little bird, Alice replaced him with yet another Pokemon brought forth in a Love Ball. She knew his old trainer was around somewhere - the birthday twin of sorts - and so she knew it would be even more important to battle well. In a flurry of hearts came a bright pink Whismur, another small creature that carried a good amount of strength within it.

"Okay, little dude, time to focus in on that giant! Use howl, and then I want you to start an uproar and go in with astonish! Just be careful of how it flails around, it knows some nasty fighting type attacks. But you're smaller and faster, so use the chaos and your speed to your advantage!" Alice called out. Atsumu nodded, unleashing a mighty howl that signalled he was ready for battle, and then - as Whismurs were wont to do - began causing a big racket. That ongoing damage and aggravation would hopefully rattle the boss' senses some, and make things a whole lot easier (although maybe distract some allies, too... Whoops). Welp, couldn't be worse than causing a fissure by the waterfall, right? ... Right?

Beartic continued its march forward with no intention of slowing down. It bellowed a fierce roar as trainers and townsfolk lined up with their Pokemon to try and stop it, hell-bent on making it to Galea Town where it would certainly cause mass destruction. If there ever was a time to put a stop to the rampaging beast, the time was now. Hail continued to pelt the earth from above which only seemed to fuel the polar bear further, giving it some pep in its step.

With the sun beginning to set over the mountain’s horizon, the Beartic was now surrounded. Before it stood the townsfolk with a few of the trainers who had quelled the Smoochum’s revolt while to its back were the trainers who battled it by the carriage. Despite all of this, Beartic hardly felt threatened or trapped and proceeded forward. Occupying the mob of Cubchoo that followed was a group of villagers’ Pokemon, leaving only the Beartic to be dealt with.

Looking to launch the attack to hold off the Beartic, Jet ordered for his Staraptor to strike it fast. The bird of prey chirped and darted forward, hitting it with a Quick Attack, but the Beartic seemed to brush it away like a fly. Seeking revenge from earlier, Aya the Furret quickly caught up to the bear using her Agility once again and blasted it with an electrifying Shock Wave. Beartic groaned and Slashed at her for good damage. As Aya succumbed to her wounds, she belted out a screeching Hyper Voice before fainting in the snow.

With Beartic stunned by the loud attack, reaching up to hold its ringing ears, Éclair the Mawile hurried up to it and began to Tickle its sides before Playing Roughly and kicking and scrapping at its belly. Beartic was no amused to say the least and blew a chilling Icy Wind right in her face. After taking the hit, Éclair absorbed the damage into a small ball of energy and hurled the Metal Burst right back at Beartic for moderate damage. Nyx the newly evolved Liepard darted up next, hoping to Charm the beast into lowing its guard before pawing a Sand Attack in its face. Unfortunately, all she was able to kick up was a paw full of snow, which had little effect on the polar bear. Not to be deterred, Nyx spun around and whacked the Beartic hard with her Iron Tail. Beartic groaned and Punched Nyx with a fist full of Ice.

Soleil the Eevee made her reappearance next as the Pokemon from town finally caught up and joined the fray. Soleil quickly Whipped Beartic with her Tail before releasing a flurry of Swift stars from point-blank. Annoyed, Beartic was about to destroy the small Eevee with a devastating attack when it was blasted backward by a boosted Flash Cannon from Geddy the Tynamo. Swift the Finneon joined in with a Water Gun, further holding the Beartic back. It was furious now, roaring angrily as another Swift from Soleil bounced off of its fur. As another Water Gun from Swift and a Flash Cannon from Geddy pushed it back once more, Beartic began swirling with blue energy as it had before. Beartic released an Avalanche of snow and ice, crushing Soleil, Swift, and Geddy in the process. All three of the Pokemon hung on, but they were quite battered from the strike.

Looking to put the Beartic down for good, Isaac the Alolan Marowak made his return to power up his finishing move. The Marowak began by Focusing his Energy as he stood in the Beartic’s path. Beartic had no intention of stopping or diverting its path, so it proceeded forward in preparation to go right through the bone-wielding Pokemon. Isaac stood firm and stared the beast in the eyes. He began to pound on his Belly like a Drum; while hurting himself in the process, the mental fortitude psyched himself up to astronomical levels. With his health now lowered much more than it was before, the question would be whether Isaac would even be able to launch his next attack. Hoping to buy the Marowak some time, Jet’s Staraptor slammed into Beartic with a powerful Close Combat. Beartic bellowed in pain and grabbed the bird out of the air, pinning it to the ground and knocking it out cold with an Ice Punch.

Turning its attention back to Isaac, Beartic looked ready to strike once again. Swift though about using his wiles to try and Attract the bear, but a quick scan from Bill’s Pokedex showed that it was in fact male and did not like fishsticks. The Beartic’s rear suddenly felt hot and it turned around to see a small Caterpie named Calem somehow breathing a Flamethrower in its direction. As Calem launched a second stream of fire, Beartic growled and Slashed its claws right through the Flamethrower and knocked the Caterpie back. By now, Isaac had finished his preparations, looking primed and ready to attack. Beartic shot out a Brine of salt water, but was off target as a String Shot from Calem yanked its head down.

Joining his Pokemon in combat, Alex stood behind Isaac with his Z-Ring shining. Alex pumped his fists in the air before pivoting onto one knee and flexed from the side. A surge of energy from the rocks from the earth all around them flowed into Isaac. As Isaac jumped high into the air, a number of rocks flew up towards him, collecting to form a massive boulder the size of a house. Like a meteor, Isaac collected the massive boulder in his hands and hurled it down at the Beartic. The massive Continental Crush collided with the earth with an incredible explosive force. Snow and ice went flying everywhere, and the force of the attack created a wind that sent many Pokemon flying.

Everyone stood by on baited breath as the snow and wind slowly cleared the sky and the hail quieted down until is ceased entirely. As the boulder crumbled away, leaving a large pile of rubble in its wake, the arm of Beartic emerged from the rocks to give the crowd a pause before slumping over, limp. The Beartic was down for the count, which lead to a roar of cheers. “We did it!” Jet cried out, “Great work everyone, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without all of you!”

~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, a couple of trainers held back in the Rose Garden to make sure things were taken care of over there and the inhabitants of the garden were safe. The four garden queens had chased out most of the Swinub and Vulpix, but a few stragglers remained. Miapladicus the Staryu stared down the Vulpix it had been fighting from before and fired off a Psywave that knocked it back. Vulpix countered with an Ice Shard to little effect, and after another Water Gun from the Staryu, Vulpix began to stagger. Chroma pulled out a Pokeball and hurled it at the fox, pulling it inside as it began to shake. Once… twice… three times… before coming to a halt with a successful “Ding!” Congratulations, Chroma has captured a lv.10 male Alolan Vulpix!
Hurrying back to the garden to make sure her friends were okay, Jess was caught off guard by the weakened mewing of a Vulpix that had fallen to Epona’s attack from before. The sight of the pitiful creature tugged on her heart strings, and Jess instinctively moved to tend to it. She quickly reached into her bag and pulled out a Casteliacone (it’s a mystery how those things don’t ever make a mess in one’s bag) before offering it to the Vulpix to eat and regain its strength. The Vulpix refused the treat initially, but it was hard for the ice type to resist the frosty treat for long and happily accepted the food. Looking to adopt the wounded creature that had been separated from its group, Jess offered for it to join her team by holding out an all-white Snow Ball. The Vulpix pressed its paw to the ball, and it clicked open and pulled it inside. The ball shook three times before coming to a halt with a successful “Ding!” Congratulations, Jess has captured a lv.10 female Alolan Vulpix!
With the threat of the Beartic now gone and the waves of enemy Pokemon dispersed, the imminent danger facing the town was finally over. There was still plenty of work to be done however, and the townsfolk had to move quickly. They slowly cleared out the rubble to reveal the unconscious form of the massive Beartic. A few rangers had arrived, finally done with rescuing stranded hikers and trainers on the mountain, and helped load the Beartic onto a large sled. After making sure it was tied down and tranquilized, they set off with a Mudsdale to tow the creature to a safer section of the wilderness away from civilization.
Jet gathered up the remaining trainers, including the ones who were at the garden and orchard into the other Mudsdale-drawn carriage. Also tagging along was Samuel, who had arrived from the Orchard. “Since things are finally calm here, let’s head over to the waterfall and help out where we can.” There was little time to spare as it was beginning to get quite dark outside, so the carriage set off westward towards the Starline Waterfall.
A pair of Lycanrocs suddenly descended the mountain trail from the east; the midday one looking a bit worn-out while the midnight one looking raring to go. “You guys are welcome to stay at the Stone Shrine,” a voice called out from behind them, revealing Madoka the shrine maiden. “We finally managed to chase the invaders out.”
Beside Madoka was Marina and her Poliwrath, looking pretty exhausted as well. Samuel the woodsman spoke up next, “You lot did a fine job to get us this far. Now it’s the Cloud Garden’s trial captains’ time to shine!” Athena, Jet, Marina, Madoka, and Samuel all stepped forward and nodded at each other. They each sent forth a Pokemon, revealing Athena’s Mawile, Jet’s Drifblim, Marina’s Poliwrath, Madoka’s midnight-form Lycanroc, and Samuel’s Kabutops. The five Pokemon moved forward to the giant frozen pillar of ice and readied themselves.
Jet’s Drifblim floated up into the air and casted a Hex upon the pillar of ice. Madoka’s Lycanroc cracked the ice’s foundation to the frozen river underfoot with a Stone Edge. Athena’s Mawile shook the pillar with a cracking Iron Head while Samuel’s Kabutops chipped away at the weak spots with a Night Slash. Lastly, Marina’s Poliwrath gathered all of his remaining energy and poured it into his fist. Poliwrath cocked his fist back and hammered the ice with a devastating Dynamic Punch that shattered the entire pillar. Shards of ice accompanied by a torrent of water cascaded down from the sky as the waterfall began flowing like it normally was supposed to. The captains cheered and quickly recalled their Pokemon to avoid getting hit. They all quickly hurried off the icy river as the pressure of water slowly began to crack and break up the ice underneath the falls.
“Alright, let’s go get some rest,” Athena called out with a yawn as she and Madoka escorted the group of trainers up the short mountain trail that led to the Stone Shrine. The shrine itself was an open plateau that was up against the steep cliff side that accompanied the waterfall. There were a few scattered trees and rock formations to the sides, but the central part was neatly decorated with rows of stone lanterns and a giant red Torii gate at the main southern entrance. Toward the mountainside was a magnificent and old shrine building with a building to either side of it; to the left being a cabin for travelers to stay and to the right an administrative building for the shrine’s daily operations. “Since there’s a lot of people, I hope you all don’t mind staying in sleeping bags in the central room,” Madoka explained.
With everyone physically and mentally exhausted from the day’s action, the trainers quietly mingled amongst themselves while the trial captains served them a warm soup for dinner. Soon after, everyone eventually went to bed where the captains took turns on lookout with little to report.
~~~~~~~

Morning seemed to come almost too fast as beams of sunlight flared through the windows into the cabin. Being a natural early riser, Madoka was already up and stepped outside to sweep when she exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! Everyone come quickly!” There was a rush to the door as trainers hurried outside in anticipation of another attack. However, what lay before them were stacks of neatly wrapped gifts. They were all unmarked boxes but featured a small ribbon that held them together with a neatly-tied bow. After counting each of them, there appeared to be the same number of gifts as there were trainers present. “How peculiar…” Athena mused, picking one up. It wasn’t too heavy.

After pulling on the string, Athena’s box opened up, releasing a soft flash of bright energy that flowed through her body. She gasped but then moments later let out a giggle. “Wow, I feel great! It’s like I’m re-energized!” Holding up her Pokeballs, her Altaria and Clefable reappeared, just as energetic and at full health. “Open yours too, everyone!” The gifts were distributed one by one until everyone was handed a gift. As they were opened up, a similar effect went off to what Athena experienced. At the bottom of the boxes were a small card that read “Merry Christmas!” and a Revive and an Aspear Berry as well.

Everyone has received the following:
1x Revive
1x Aspear Berry
The following Pokemon are fully healed and receive the following levels (if a Pokemon is lv.100, you shall receive an equivalent number of rare candies to levels received):

Chroma: Louise the Mawile (3), Miapladicus the Staryu (2)
With the gifts given out, everyone refreshed and restored, and breakfast served, it was time to head out and make their way up the waterfall. The trainers followed the captains back down the mountain trail towards the waterfall, where they found a large makeshift raft awaiting them. Samuel had apparently worked through the night building it from a couple of fallen trees and appeared quite exhausted. “It might not look like much, but it’ll hold. I bet my entire craft on it,” he smiled, flexing his bicep. The logs had been neatly cut and tied together with a few ropes being held up by none other than Jet’s Drifblim.

“All aboard!” Jet called out, helping the trainers onto it. There was about just enough space for everyone, as long as most of the Pokemon remained in their Pokeballs. With one hard tug, Drifblim slowly began to pull the raft off the ground. It was assisted by the strength of Marina’s Poliwrath, who pushed it from underneath toward the waterfall. Not to be outdone, Marina’s Gyarados came out as well to help drive the raft up the waterfall from underneath. Samuel and Madoka waved goodbye from the ground, wishing everyone good luck as they ascended the falls. “If you aren’t good with heights, please stay in the middle of the raft,” Athena called out as the raft swayed ever so slightly. It was a slightly-unnerving few minutes, but eventually the raft made it to the top of the cliff where Gyarados pushed it onto the riverbank.

At this point, Drifblim, Gyarados, and Poliwrath were simply too tired to continue, so Marina and Jet decided it would be best to secure a base camp here while the rest moved ahead. A chilling winter gale blew across the mountainside. “The air is a lot thinner up here, so bundle up and preserve your energy,” Athena called out, wrapping a scarf around her neck. It was certainly colder up here than it was down on the plains.

~~~~~~~
The group proceeded up the trail to the northeast, where Athena had detected some unusual activity on the mountain before all of this started. They passed by another enshrined area known as the Cloud Shrine; Jet’s usual base of operations when the mountain isn’t being taken over by ice types. They then crossed a small and frozen section of the Starline River, which weaved its way around the mountain and flowed down into the waterfalls. Up here, the river acted as a natural boundary for the Burnt Forest; a section of woods that typically smolders all year long.
Once across the river, all that lay before the trainers lay a stretch of endless plains completely covered in snow. On the horizon stretched a steep slope of mountain going straight up while a rather low ceiling of clouds orbited around the mountain’s peak like a halo. As they approached the mountain slope, a rather large cave stood before them. “There didn’t used to be a cave here…” Athena murmured, a bit perplexed. However, loose snow and rocks all around the area were clear signs of a recent rockslide or avalanche causing this cave to become unearthed. “Something must have pushed its way out, from the looks of it…” Athena slowly approached the cave before looking around.
A small white orb floated down beside Athena, almost appearing like a snowflake. She slowly stared at it for a moment as a couple other orbs floated their way down. The first orb suddenly burst with a pop, scattering some rocks by her feet. “Oh no… Everyone get back!” she called out, turning to run. The other orbs exploded as well, to much greater effect as their booms echoed across the cave entrance. Just as the dust and rocks began to settle, the ground began to shake causing a number of icicles to crash down from the cave’s ceiling. A loud bellowing moan erupted from the interior of the cave and a harsh Blizzard of icy wind followed. “That can’t be good,” Athena whispered as she stood in front of the group to try and protect them. While she was but a teenage girl, she felt responsible for bringing all of these people to this perilous situation.
The earth continued to shake as a massive shadow appeared from deep within the cave. THUD. The creature inside smacked aside a stalagmite that was in its way. A chunk of rock went flying out of the cave and crashed into the snow not too far from where the trainers stood. As the creature drew nearer its frosty breath could be heard echoing through the cave while the temperature dropped drastically with each passing moment. Glaring red eyes could be spotted coming from the darkness. As the trainers slowly back away from the cave’s entrance, a few more energy bombs floated down from above. “Guys, let’s fall back!” Athena cried out, “Head back in the direction we came from, towards the river!”
She didn’t need to tell anyone twice to get out of there as the group of trainers turned tail to retreat. Looking back as they ran, a massive, giant beast erupted from the cave coated in white and green fur while imposing spikes covered its back. It resembled a creature known as Abomasnow, but it was nothing like the ones native to the frosty region of Sinnoh’s Mt. Coronet. It was rounder and bigger- much bigger in what some might identify as a Mega Evolution of Abomasnow. On top of that, this beast appeared twice as large as any Pokedex would indicate, maybe even larger than that. The Abomasnow let out another bellowing roar, breathing a powerful Blizzard at the fleeing trainers’ heels. Fortunately for them, it did not leave the cave’s immediate entrance to pursue the group.
~~~~~~~

Back at the river crossing that they had passed over earlier, Athena slowly caught her breath. “This is awful… Who knew such a beast was sleeping inside the mountain all along?” She bit her lip, trying to think of a plan. “There’s no doubt that it’s the cause of all of this. We’re going to need to take it down somehow. The only problem are those pesky bombers up above the cliff side. I’ve got an idea though. We’ll need some trainers to hold off the Abomasnow and distract it while I lead a group up an old mountain path I know of and take care of the pests. There’s an old section of the Cloud Garden called Delibird Ridge, and I can guarantee you those are the culprits behind those bombs! I can’t imagine they’re all bad though, or who else would have left us those presents at the Stone Shrine this morning?”

Athena looked up to the sky as pellets of Hail trickled down from above. She paused for a minute to let the trainers decide what they were going to do. Would they be brave enough to take on the beastly Abomasnow or would they follow her up the mountain path to Delibird Ridge? The battles from here on out were only going to get more intense than ever before, but with everyone’s help they might just be able to take down the leader of all the ice Pokemon. What would they choose?

It’s finally time for the climactic battle of the Abominable Snowdown! In your reply please indicate which path you wish to choose. You will be able to change actions each round, so do not feel like you will be locked into a specific group this time! Regardless of which path you choose, it is recommended that you have a Pokemon ready to fight with up to three attacks in mind! Remember, teamwork is the key to victory!
*Gotcha! Vulpix was caught!*

*Miapladicus was elevated from Lv. 14 to Lv. 16!*
*Miapladicus learned Camouflage!*

*Louise was elevated from Lv. 30 to Lv. 33!*
*Louise learned Iron Defense!*

*Obtained the Revive and the Aspear Berry!*

That odd temporal phenomenon continued to dog Chroma even after the vulpix was caught, leaving her just a little confused as to what was going on around her. Nevertheless, she wasn't about to let such simple matters get in the way of her contributing, even just a little bit, in what seemed to be the final showdown for this skirmish. Better late than never was frequently an applicable phrase, and this time was no different.

She could see Keith's ever-recognizable hat off in the distance, along with a fearsome-looking red pokemon she couldn't recognize, and couldn't help but smile a little. She had no doubt that he was preparing to drop something big on what was very obviously the enemy boss, and she had no right to try and take even a tiny bit of that glory- not with how detached she had been throughout this entire venture. "That just leaves us with one job. Elenchos, let's keep the enemies off our big players: Flamethrower any snover that look like they intend to disrupt anyone elses' plans! That should help the cleanup crew out a bit, as well."

Big holds his arms in front of his face to protect the exposed skin from the last blizzard the Abomasnow launched. He was a tiny bit disappointed his orders didn't work out as they were supposed to. He replayed the last few moments back over in his mind trying to see where it went wrong. He eventually chalked it up to Hotstuff not having experience in the new form, especially having to perform the complex aerial attack so he decided to use the flamethrowers to cover his entry. When the blizzard cleared big looked up and his eyes widened. Hotstuff had seemingly made it behind the behemoth without the grass and ice type noticing. Big's eyes flash with realization, Hotstuff was in an even better position to try Big's plan than before. He calls out to the blue pokemon, "Hotstuff quick! Get up on it's back with another aerial ace!!" He calls out and the charmeleon looks back with a questioning look, not saying anything as to alert their opponent to his presence. Big nods back. "I know you can do it buddy." He reassures his pokemon, and Hotstuff coils ready to make the leap. "Once you get up there give it two more flamethrowers, point blank as you can!" He calls out. Hotstuff nods and makes the leap. Big contemplates as he waits to see how events play out. If it's that close it'll hit before it gets blown away and theoretically should do the full damage. If only I had taught Hotstuff a physical fire type move like fire punch this would have been so much easier

Belial steps in to help stop a Mawile who grabbed the attention of several Snover with Taunt from being overwhelmed. The pair take down the Snover, with Belial managing to knock two out with an Iron Tail each, and the third falling to the Mawile's poison attack. The Mawile's trainer calls for her to draw in another batch with Sweet Scent after the first group falls.

Given how well it had worked last time, drawing a group away and then dispatching them, it seems best for Belial to stay there and provide some back-up firepower. He might not be able to draw the enemies to himself, but he can at least help someone who can attract them deal with the resulting group. Besides, it has the added bonus of pulling the Snover farther away from the Abomasnow and everyone trying to take it down. Hopefully, the dwindling Snover will make that fight easier for everyone else.

"Belial, help out with the next group of Snover as well! Hit them with two Iron Tails!" Eskil calls.

"You know, Mawile are part Steel." Nyx confides slyly from her place at his side.

Eskil grins at the Liepard, catching on quickly. "If you're getting overwhelmed by a big group, hit them with Smog!" He adds to Belial's orders. No worries about accidentally catching the Pokemon they were helping in the attack if said Pokemon was immune to it, after all. And Smog might work a bit better as crowd control, at least compared to Iron Tail.

Belial nods back to his trainer in acknowledgement and stands ready at the Mawile's side, prepared to help.

As Mist pumped his hefty arms and bolstered his physical strength, the larger foe took notice and peppered him and the Eeveelution support with a hail of razor sharp needles, but it was too little too late as the Mega Abomasnow lumbered towards the target of concern, empowered by energy from the weary Flareon before pivoting on his trunklike limbs and slammed forth with a devastating iron tail, back end sheened in metal as the force of impact was enough to shove it back a step. It grumbled as Mistilteinn glowered at it in defiance, and as it responded with another blizzard, the snow and ice was deflected by a sudden burst of rocks from a Gallade, who then proceeded to disable the main weapon the ice pokemon possessed.

"We're making a mark now!" Alex called out as the mega pokemon took a considerable chunk of punishment, but responded by blasting an icy wind at a Skarmory, Slaking and Porygon, before Mist shifted to take some of the chilling wind. Giving a slight shake, the allied Abomasnow glowed blue before striking his larger adversary with a powerful avalanche of snow and ice, but the good news was soon to end as it unleashed a devastating ice beam, more like a frigid hyper beam in size that scathed across the battlefield, shooting down the Skarmory. Grunting at the danger, Mist turned back to find the Flareon, weakened as it was, had tagged out for a mighty Blaziken, the avian a suitable answer to the giant snowman.

Alex noticed too that their mutual opponent was starting to show signs of wear and tear, yet Mist was also starting to tire despite her position. Given its size, the battle could very well drag on, and the intensifying wind didn't help Alex much as he hunkered down, the cold starting to make him ache. "Mist, you capable of going a couple more minutes there?" he asked, his Abomasnow responding after a brief pause with a hefty nod. Yes, he was starting to tire, but he was still brimming with mega energy, and could certainly leave his mark. "Just what I wanted to hear. Rush into it and punch it in the face with a brick break, then take your close proximity to dig your claws into it with a toxic to let that wear it down over time, then show our opponent who's boss. Take aim, and try and bowl em over with a giga impact! Demonstrate you can come out top in this abominable snowdown!"

At the very mention of that last phrase, Alex had the feeling of countless eyes judging him for the terrible joke, as Mist furrowed his brow, gave a small shake of disappointment, then turned to his larger adversary, ready to make this round count.

Mélina cringed a little as she realized that even though Glitch, thanks to converting into a water type, was now resistant to ice, it was now weak to the Snover line’s second type - Grass. They both thought it was a bad situation at first… but the trainer had an idea to both rectify the problem yet still help out.

“Ok Glitch, you’re about to get on the defensive, but hear me out: we’ll have to act with tact, speed and precision, so pay close attention to me and the battlefield!”

“Priiiii~” the Porygon stretched its legs and tail in sudden movements, getting itself ready for whatever strategy she had in mind.

“Goodie! Now, the plan here is to make sure you don’t get hit by any grass attacks, and that whatever next attack you get hit is another ice one-”

Glitch suddenly interrupted her with a chuckle, and a glimpse in its eyes that could only be described as wanting to give a big grin, despite its lack of proper mouth. Mélina gave him a puzzled look, until it dawned on her why it was reacting that way.

“Ha ha ha. Ice one, nice one...” She shook her head side to side in annoyance, but her smile betrayed her attitude. “Anyways,” she did her best to be serious again, “We need to make sure the next attack you get hit by is ice-typed again, so you can try and convert into a different type other than water. If they’re smart enough though, they won’t do that on purpose. So we’re going to have to take that purpose for ourselves instead. See where I’m getting at?”

Glitch nodded in understanding.

“Good. So first, pay attention to your surroundings: with your Agility, dodge all non-ice attacks coming your way, until you see a Snover or the Abomasnow getting ready to unleash any ice type attack - bonus points if it's targeting another Pokémon! When you do, jump into the fray of the attack so you get hit by that ice! As soon as you do, Conversion 2, a-sap, so you can change your type into something more useful than water! And finally, best you Recover - you’ll probably have taken quite a bit of damage at that point. Better put that Bunny Suit in good use!”

When Jess and Kim arrived on the scene, the Abomasnow answered appropriately with an avalanche of ice, striking down a Charizard and Stantler as well. Fortunately being of the same frozen element Kimball didn't mind the cold, and simply shook the snow off her body, before shedding a few flakes of her own form to streamline her speed. Darting forth, she swiftly charged a beam of sinister Bug energy, firing the rainbow ray directly at the target's chest. Color collided in a kaleidoscopic burst, refracting off the surrounding icicles in a dazzling display. Aiming to further confuse the opponent and concurrently help her teammates, Kim produced a heart-shaped candy grenade and hurled it at beast, who looked even more bemused as the bonbon bomb exploded into tiny chunks of chocolate, falling into the white frosting below for anyone else to consume.

While the creature was thoroughly confounded by the confectionary assault, it decided to turn the tables by boasting pridefully, shrugging off the sugar shower with a sneer that goaded the giver's sweetness into rage, raising her strength but simultaneously making her see red. Jess grimaced, realizing that with the Vanillite's current range of attacks the boost would hardly benefit her specific skillset, but moreover concerned for her safety should she allow bitterness to blind her.

"Don't let it get to you, Kim!" she called, hoping her words would be heard by the cross cone. "Take a deep breath, and let the anger out of your system with UPROAR! And if you get a chance, eat a piece of chocolate; I'm sure it will make you feel better. See if you can gather them up to give to others as well; try not to let those Snover steal any."

With lots of Snover healing the Mega Abomasnow, it was clear the trainers battling against it had to do something about its minions if they had any chance of bringing it down. Fortunately, Keith's Heatmor, Kyle, was on the job along with Alice's Torchic and a Mawile and Houndoom, though the Snover were slow to fall even with four Pokemon attacking them. Everyone else was fighting the Mega Abomasnow hoping to fell it with sheer brute force. First, the Pikachu belonging to Patches as well as a purple, devilish looking creature with gems for eyes both darted around the monster and took pot shots at it for small amounts of damage that would likely add up were it not for the Snover still around that could simply heal away such small amounts of damage. Then Kyle, along with the blue Charmander that had evolved into another Charmeleon, dealt even heavier hits with their type effective attacks before Rorik's Charizard, Gary's Stantler, and one of the Vanillite caught from yesterday assaulted it with more direct attacks as well as a mysterious Chocolate Bomb from the Vanillite; Hyrem's Dunsparce knew that move, but he had never seen it in a real battle before making this a sight to see. One big problem, though: the huge Mega Abomasnow decided a Blizzard was in order against this group of trainers and their Pokemon, freezing Keith's Heatmor in the process.

Next it was Happy, Kahakai, and Mistilteinn's turn to face the monster, with the smaller Mega Abomasnow sharpening his focus as well as the needles on his arm. The much bigger one saw the opportunity and slung a barrage of pine needles, its own unique way of using Razor Leaf. Kahakai looked to brace itself and Endure the attack, but Happy also Detected what was coming; with no way of knowing what Kai was doing, he took it upon himself to take the attack instead, yelping as the pine needles turned the Flareon into a pincushion. He looked to the Vaporeon with the needles still sticking out of him and asked, "Are you all right? I hope I blocked all of that attack for you. Oh yeah, Mist, now's your chance!" he said, giving the regular Mega Abomasnow some inspiration as well as a Helping Hand to empower his next attack. Mistilteinn and Kai both decided to attack the monster with Iron Tails, first Mistilteinn with his empowered attack, then Kai, both Steel attacks putting a lot of hurt on the monster. In return, it decided it had enough of their attacks, so it blew another Blizzard in their direction. Jayson's Gallade, however, not only deflected the attack using a Wide wall of stone to Guard everyone but also cast a very useful Disable spell to block the monster from using its Blizzard attack again for a while. Lucas's Slaking then decided to use a more unorthodox Skill that Swapped his Truant ability with the Gallade's Justified ability, which meant that the Slaking would be a much more powerful force that came with the risk of the Gallade being less effective; only time would tell if that would be a tradeoff worth doing...

The next Pokemon Hyrem noticed was an odd blue and red construct that seemed to be made entirely of crystal- wait, is that actually crystal or something else? Regardless, it was a very unusual Pokemon, and it used some equally unusual strategies to mess with its stats as well as its typing, meaning it wasn't considered a threat just yet. What was considered a threat was the Slaking and Skarmory as they both used more type effective attacks to pummel the Mega Abomasnow with before the Mega Abomasnow fired off an Ice Beam that careened across the battlefield in a straight line. The Porygon was able to take the damage with its type changed to Water, but the Skarmory, having used so much energy in these powerful attacks, wasn't so lucky as she was unable to dodge and lost the rest of her health from the attack. Happy was limping his way to switch with Vi, but that meant he was also unable to dodge the polar ray, and streaks of ice stuck to his fur and matted it down slowing his pace even further. Vi ran up halfway to Happy, knelt down, and offered her hand as soon as the Flareon came close, and he put his paw on her hand, saying, "Go...go get 'em... Keep..Kai..safe..." Hyrem rushed up to Happy and was right there just as he slumped in his hands; he hadn't lost consciousness, but the damage he took left him quite exhausted, it was a good thing he Baton Passed to Vi when he did. Vi nodded at Happy's comments, saying, "I'll do what I can, but..." As she stands up, she clenches her fists before continuing. "I might be too busy giving the big guy a beatdown to do anything else!"

Hyrem checked over his Flareon to make sure he was okay before looking to his Blaziken. "Okay, looks like we just lost one of our heavy hitters out there too, so we gotta pick up the slack! Are you ready!?"
"BLAAAAAZE!!" she crowed loudly, her wrists igniting with flames.
"Let's do this then! Use Bulk Up before getting in there with your strongest attacks: Brave Bird and Hi Jump Kick!"

Vi tightened her muscles and prepared herself for battle before running in, hoping that as she fought the Incineroar would be in the fray as well. Happy at this point was busy slowly licking his fur to clean the ice off and plucking out the pine needles that were causing him pain and irritation. He would glance up at the battle on occasion, however, hoping that Kai's trainer had the sense to switch out the Vaporeon as well to keep her safe.

*It's okay, buddy, you did what you could,* Hyrem's thought came to Happy's mind. *I saw it though: she had Endure ready to go, she was ready to take the attack and still stay in the fight without worrying about going down.*
*But then she would've been one hit away from it!* Happy insisted. *I still think I was right to do what I did.*
*Maybe you were, but who knows what she's going to think about that?*
Happy couldn't think of any way to answer, and he looked at the two Eevee squirming in their trainer's arms, they must be worried sick about their mother and father! He couldn't watch them anymore and went back to slowly cleaning himself, that was all he could do now to try to give them any solace.

Other Pokedex Entries:
Spoiler: show
Sableye, the Darkness Pokemon. Sableye are most commonly found by going as far into a dark cavern as possible and can be spotted by a glint of light reflected off its eyes that resemble gems. Many people are afraid of this glare due to the myth that these Pokemon steal people's souls this way, but in reality they mostly eat rocks and have a strong preference for precious gems, which it uses as parts of its body. Because of this, a Pokemon called Carbink is commonly preyed on, though Sableye is also in direct conflict with Gabite because they commonly reach their prey much faster than Sableye can.

Porygon, the Virtual Pokemon. Porygon is a Pokemon invented by humans 20 years ago that was given the power to enter and exit cyberspace at will. However, it could only perform the actions that were initially programmed into it, and the software that designed it is now outdated. Not only that, but modern firewall technology has limited where in cyberspace it can even roam in. The idea was that Porygon would be able to explore space, but the idea failed, and the science behind it was abandoned. Due to certain security measures, this Pokemon cannot be replicated by copy programs.

The winds were more powerful than ever now and Patches had finally caught up with the group only to be blinded by the winds. Eventually, something small and yellow made its way over to her and she could see it was Mio the Pikachu stumbling around in the snow, feeling the effects of confusion. “Mio, are you hurt?” Patches kneels down in the snow to get a closer look at her companion. There is a lot of fighting and chaos going on around them and looking at the huge Abomasnow, she has picked up on the fact that that is probably the cause, even Patches was beginning to feel a bit out of sorts from this weather. “Chuuu… Ka! Chuuu…” Mio attempts to explain the situation to Patches but her mind is all jumbled up from how confused she is and her words aren’t making any sense, not that Patches ever actually understands her anyway.

“I see… So we’ve gotta take that thing out!” Mio actually jumps slightly at the realization that Patches acutally understood what Mio was trying to get across. The one time she understands would of course be when Mio wasn’t able to make any actual sense of her words but she can’t be bothered to mind since it seems like things will get serious now. Patches blindly reaches into her bag as usual and throws the first ball she gets her hands on, revealing a very upset looking Sylveon named Momo. This weather, it’s absolutely terrible for someone as sensitive as him. Momo is in shock as the freezing winds feel like they are going right through him. Mio is frustrated, the one time Patches gets serious she has to send out the most useless Pokemon she has.

Momo is refusing to budge and there is no time to convince him, so despite her confused state, Mio was once again going to have to act. Mio turned around and Growled at the Abomasnow before charging back into battle, this time with the intention of Mimicking that Abomasnow’s next powerful move then she will immediately give it a taste of its own medicine by sending that move right back at it.

The Abominable Snowdown
A Cloud Garden Winter Campaign

Kong the Slaking was feeling energized, and because of his new ability he was also feeling a strong sense of justice. After seeing the Avalanche that had happened near Delibird Ridge, there was no way he could just stay back and do nothing. With his trainer Lucas on his back, Kong began to use Rock Climb in order to quickly get to the top of all of that rubble. Once at the top, Athena didn’t notice their arrival because her attention was on a single Delibird who had separated from the group and had managed to get itself covered in some large chunks of ice. “You see, this is another good reason why you shouldn’t get so close to the edge!” She was scolding it, it seems that in her short time with the large group of Delibird’s she had managed to form something of a bond with them. Once Kong saw that the Delibird was in need of help, he charged in and began to use his Strength in order to remove the largest parts of the rubble so that the Delibird would be freed. “Oh, thank you for the help!” Athena smiled at Kong and gave him her thanks. Once the Delibird was freed, it was very grateful. So grateful that it knew it needed to repay this debt and immediately reached into its bag and pulled out a large Present wrapped in glittery paper, just the right size for a Pokemon as big as Kong. Kong took the gift, a bit touched at the gesture. “Oh no, wait don’t–!” Athena tried to warn him but it was too late, the Present popped open while in his hands and was immediately followed by a very large explosion.

Meanwhile, down below there was still a very serious fight taking place. While many of the trainers were fighting the Mega Abomasnow, there was a small group of trainers who were still working together to eliminate the last of the Snover who were trying to keep the Abomasnow healthy. Spartacus the Scizor was standing by his trainer Jayson while he powered himself up with two back to back Swords Dances. Fortunately, nothing got in the way of him pulling them off since he had stayed out of the fight. Now that he was significantly powered up, it was time to get to work. Spartacus readied his Metal Claws and charged at one of the Snover who was still at full health and was happily giving Abomasnow nourishment. The Snover didn’t even get the chance to react before the move that was powered up even further with Technician completely took it from full health to zero in a split second. Spartacus felt pretty proud of his accomplishment, to the point where he had let his guard down and suddenly an Icy Punch smashed into him from a large fist thrown by the Abomasnow who wasn’t too happy about his helper being taken out. Spartacus is hit so hard he flies through the air and right into Éclair completely taking her down into the snow.

Éclair the Mawile quickly gets up and doesn’t even take the time to brush the snow off of her before she continues on with the plan. She releases a Sweet Scent in hopes of attracting some of the final Snover. All three of the Snover that were left couldn’t resist the smell and began to uproot themselves because they were overwhelmed with the desire to find its source. Once they realized it was coming from an enemy Pokemon, they all began to raise their guard until suddenly, the Mawile began to cry with her Fake Tears. The three of them didn’t know what to do, they weren’t used to dealing with another Pokemon who was in such an emotional state so they all hesitate. While they're still flustered, Éclair wipes away her tears and gets serious once more, releasing a blinding Flash Cannon which goes through all three of them. Now they are weakened, and angry. One of the Snover smashes into Éclair with a Wood Hammer which almost completely takes her out, she only managed to hang on due to her resistance. Belial the Houndoom can see that Éclair is in need of help once again and smashes into that Snover with his Iron Tail. Then, the Snover next to him begins to enrage Belial with his Swagger, Belial is feeling a bit off mentally but he isn’t going to allow that Snover to get the last word in and gives him a taste of his Iron Tail as well! Then, since he’s still a bit enraged he goes to release his Smog on the remaining Snover but in his confusion, as he starts to release the Smog, instead of it reaching the enemy, he inhales the majority of it himself and begins choking on his own gaseous fumes.

Elenchos the Inkay had noticed the final Snover that hadn’t been taken out just yet and began to make his way over there because he could see that he was needed. The Snover was ready though, too many tricks had already been played on it and it wasn’t about to allow anyone else to sneak up on it. It turned toward Elenchos and blew a strong Icy Wind in his direction. The gusts made him falter a bit, but he fought and kept pushing through, once he was close he released his Flamethrower on the Snover. The attack was weakened quite a bit but was still very damaging to the Snover, it could feel itself weakening as the attack went on but didn’t want to go out without a fight. The Snover began to play a Grass Whistle which managed to reach the Inkay’s ears, causing Elenchos to fall into the snow sound asleep at the exact moment that the final Snover was knocked out. With all of the Snover taken out, there were no longer any Pokemon aiding the Abomasnow, now all of the trainers could truly focus on taking out the biggest threat.

Abomasnow’s rage was unyielding, and with each attack it took its anger grew. Patches of its fur were singed or cut by attacks, but it continued surrounding itself with more and more freezing cold air. Its angry cries resounded throughout the Cloud Garden, meant to intimidate its opponents.

After the Avalanche had fallen, the battlefield had become much more quiet. Rorik and other trainers watched on to see if Volg would emerge from the rubble and snow. Rorik enlisted his Starmie for help, and together they started a telepathic search for the Charizard. With a low rumble, a section of the rubble lit up like a flashlight and then exploded. Fire and rocks flew from the pile of snow and Blasted Abomasnow with Burning flames. Volg emerged, looking worse for the wear, but determined to deliver his powerful attack. Relief spread across the Charizard’s face as the attack hit Abomasnow and caused it to reel back in pain and surprise. Volg collapsed to the ground, exhausted and ready for a break.

A Howl pierced the air as Alice directed Atsumu the Whismur to prepare to attack. Akame prepared herself as well by raising her Defense with the strength of Iron. Atsumu began to rush around and started yelling in an Uproar. This annoyed Abomasnow, and it began to Stomp the ground to try to get the Whismur to stop. Akame ran in as soon as Akame’s gigantic arm collided with the ground, slamming into it with Iron Head. Mio the Pikachu, despite being all turned around from Abomasnow’s Swagger, managed to join in with a Growl. Though Abomasnow was not intimidated by the small Mouse Pokemon, it recognized that she was another tiny nuisance it would have to deal with. Abomasnow quickly learned it could not hit such small targets with its huge limbs without making itself even more of a target. The spines on its body fluttered and thousands of Magical Leaves began to scatter and fly at Atsumu, Mio and Akame. Unable to get past the barrage of leaves, Akame took the hit and decided on her Revenge. She used her full strength to slice at Abomasnow and pierce its tough skin with one of her blades. Atsumu’s yelling mixed with a yell from Mega Abomasnow. A few leaves found their way into Atsumu's gaping mouth but the Whismur was able to dislodge them with his continued uproar and a few coughs. Mio tried to Mimic Abomasnow and utilize the sparkling leaves as her own. Leaves, sound, snow, and ice all swirled around Mio and added to her overwhelming confusion. Though she was able to gain control over the Magical Leaves, she ended up hitting herself with several of them instead of hitting her target. Mio was even more dizzy and looked to Patches and Momo with the indication that it might be time to change things up.

The chaos on the other side of the field gave Hotstuff the chance to continue his attack from behind. He jumped up into the air and was able to slice an Aerial Ace up and down across Abomasnow’s back. The colossus was unable to reach behind itself or even move before the Charmeleon was crawling up the rest of the way to one of its shoulders. Hotstuff breathed a Flamethrower, singeing one of the eyebrow-like formations on Abomasnow’s face. Abomasnow shook its head, causing Hotstuff to struggle to stay on and use his second Flamethrower. The jet of flame ended up propelling the Charmeleon off of Abomasnow and down with a painful smack. Hotstuff worked on standing again, but the fall along with the freezing cold air took its toll on the Fire-type. Hotstuff was not able to stay conscious any longer and was knocked out.

Sound and wind spiraled around the trainers and their Pokemon. Kimball felt overwhelmingly confused from everything going on as well as from the Abomasnow’s Swagger. The Vanillite floated around, teetering and dizzy. Luckily she was able to hear her trainer’s voice right before she smacked into a particularly large boulder. Though she was still rather confused, she nibbled at a piece of chocolate nearby and felt a bit better. It was enough to help her take a huge breath in and join in the Uproar Atsumu had already started. The Vanillite and Whismur cried out in unison, their sound-based attacks ringing in the ears of every Pokemon and human on the field.

The barrage of sound caused some more rocks to tumble down the mountain and onto the battlefield. Abomasnow was pelted by a rather large boulder that had fallen down. With several small Pokemon running all around and on top of Abomasnow, things were only getting more and more chaotic. Abomasnow backed up a bit and increased its abilities with Growth, the ground rumbling as it took nutrients from the earth.

The trainers had really done it now. The Mega Abomasnow was fed up with dealing with these pesky Pokemon, and the latest assault had really stung. The beastly creature meant business now, and to show it, it began Growing bigger and bigger as it prepared to unleash more powerful attacks than ever before. And then, as the Mist slowly dissipated from the trainers’ side of the battlefield, Abomasnow blew forth a harsh Icy Wind that chilled all Pokemon to the bone.

Freshly captured from Delibird Ridge just up the mountainside, Carmen the Delibird took in her surroundings as Hail trickled down from above and opened up the pouch-like appendage of her tail feathers. An array of colorful lights poured out, surrounding her vicinity with an Aurora Veil. She then blew a Frosty Breath at the Abomasnow before reaching into her tail once more and pulling out a glowing orb. Carmen tossed it over to Abomasnow, offering it as a Present upon contact, it exploded for very light damage. Abomasnow didn’t really seem to be too bothered by it, but swatted the Delibird away with enough power to Break a Brick, which caused the veil to dissipate as well.

Squaring off against the Abomasnow next was a Sableye by the name of Ore as well as a Porygon named Glitch. Ore began to buff himself up as he Plotted Nasty thoughts of what to do to the Abomasnow. The Mega Abomasnow unleased a Powder Snow in the Sableye’s direction, but Glitch used its Agility to jump in front and take the attack with its resisted water typing. Glitch quickly began to run its Conversion program Version 2.0 once again, while Ore flashed a Ray of Confusion in Abomasnow’s direction. With its perception temporarily impaired, Abomasnow mixed up its opponents, firing an Ice Shard intended for Ore at Glitch instead. However, the attack bounced off of the Porygon for light damage as Glitch emerged with an icy sheen and immediately began to Recover its health.

Abomasnow was then knocked back as Mistilteinn the other Mega Abomasnow crashed into it with a chop hard enough to Break Bricks. Mistilteinn then spat a vile, Toxic glob at Abomasnow, but its reflexes were fast, blowing its Frost Breath to freeze the poison midair and fall into the snow harmlessly. Ore followed up the attack with a Dazzling Gleam, distracting it while Vi the Blaziken began to Bulk Up. Mistilteinn suddenly began to glow a yellow-orange energy that swirled with a light purple aura before charging forward and slamming into the Abomasnow for a powerful Giga Impact. Abomasnow had seen enough of its smaller counterpart as it recoiled from the crushing hit. As Mistilteinn lay there in the snow, unable to move after the last attack, the icy behemoth began to glow light blue before smashing its fist into the cliff side. The mountain began to rumble, and rocks and ice quickly crashed down from above like an Avalanche. Mistilteinn, Ore, Glitch, and Vi were all hit by the attack, but only Mistilteinn was unable to crawl out of the wreckage. Unable to move, Mistilteinn reverted back to its normal form, knocked unconscious.

As she brushed the snow off of her, Vi the Blaziken stared down the gargantuan Abomasnow before her. She suddenly began to glow blue and leapt forward, hitting the beast with a powerful Brave Bird. Abomasnow roared angrily and pulled its head back, bracing itself and raising its guard. This left it wide open as Vi Jumped High into the air before coming crashing down for a powerful Kick. The attack hit Abomasnow hard, but it was ready as it Bashed Vi with a crushing hit from its Skull. Vi winced as she was knocked backwards.

It was now Keith’s time to shine as he stood beside Kyle the Heatmor. After feeding him an Aspear Berry to thaw out his frostbite, the trainer’s Z-Ring began to glow purple as he called out, “Acid Downpour!” Kyle was soon enveloped in a toxic energy as Keith held one arm out as if he was imitating a cauldron and pantomimed sprinkling an assortment of potions into it. Keith then crouched down onto his knee and held out his arms to the side spookily as Kyle began to channel that energy and unleash it onto a devastating attack. A toxic mist blew low across the ground as the Heatmor spat a shot of toxic gunk high into the air. Upon reaching the peak of its arc, the gunk exploded and a torrent of acid poured down from the sky and onto the Abomasnow. RAAAAAAARRGGGHHHHHHH!! it bellowed loudly in anguish, as its unsettling cry echoed off the mountainside. Abomasnow writhed in pain, bashing its head against the mountainside over and over, and the ground began to shake. A massive Avalanche tumbled down from above, as the Abomasnow covered itself in snow in an attempt to wash off the burning acid.

Once the acid was mostly gone, Abomasnow shook the snow off and revealed a grotesque new appearance. Pieces of fur had melted off of it while other parts had turned sharp and black. Much of the fur and needles on its back had melted off of its spikes, making them look bigger and sharper than ever before. Its eyes were blood-red in a rage as it reached out with one arm and grabbed Kyle by the chest. With one quick motion, it slammed the Heatmor against the cliff, taking a deep breath. “SNOWWW!” it bellowed, breathing a Sheer Cold wind that shut down the Heatmor’s senses and rendered him unconscious instantly. Abomasnow was still seething as it threw Kyle’s unconscious body into the snow before his trainer’s feet.

Abomasnow pounded on its chest and bellowed another deafening roar. It was beside itself with anger now; having set off a fury that would not be quelled easily. As Abomasnow thrashed about in the snow, it began to Grow even bigger than before, becoming stronger and scarier in the process. With its rage-fueled adrenaline now driving it forward, it was unlikely that status effects and psychological tactics would have much of an effect on it going forward.

Time is running out in this story! It’s time to give this monster everything that you’ve got in order to quell its rage for good. There are two weeks remaining in this campaign, so make them count! Do not mind how the updates were grouped; we simply organized them that way so it would be easier to type. You are free to collaborate with people from the other updates.

Keith grinned as Kyle pulled off a picture-perfect Acid Downpour. It caused major damage to their adversary, and Abomasnow was feeling the move like nothing else that's been thrown its way. "Good one, Kyle!" Keith called to his Heatmor. "Super effective!"

"Heatmor!" Kyle responded, though at that moment, Abomasnow brought down a big Avalanche... on itself! It was covering itself in snow to try and wash away the burning remnants of the powerful Z-Move. Keith tensed up... and soon, Abomasnow broke free, revealing itself to look far scarier now-patches of fur were melted away, the spikes on its back looked bigger and sharper, and to Keith's horror, the Ice/Grass-type picked up the Heatmor and slammed him against the cliff!

"Kyle, use Flamethrower-" Keith began, but Kyle got no time to attack whatsoever. Abomasnow made damn sure of that by blasting the Heatmor with a point-blank Sheer Cold!

"Mooooor..." groaned Kyle, totally knocked out, as Abomasnow threw the Heatmor down to Keith's feet. Keith was stunned- Abomasnow was able to take out one of his most reliable Pokémon with grim efficiency, and as much as the Acid Downpour had damaged it, it seemed to make it even more dangerous.

Not that, mind you, this made Keith any less determined to overcome this formidable foe. "Kyle, come back now," Keith said, returning the Heatmor to his Level Ball. "You did great, buddy. Now take a good rest," Keith murmured, before reattaching the Level Ball to his belt.

"So what now, hat man?" asked Vinny. "You want I should get in on this?"

"Not just yet, Vinny," Keith shook his head. He produced a Poké Ball from his belt- just a regular Poké Ball this time- and clicked the button to enlarge it. "I want to give her a shot first. She's had experience taking on larger than average Pokémon- she took on that gigantic Magmortar in Mt. Aduro, and landed the finishing blow on Heatran. I think she's got this." And he threw the ball. "Helga, let's go!"

And from the ball, there appeared in a flash of light a formidable Hariyama. She stomped the ground, looking up fearlessly at the startling Mega Abomasnow. "Hariiiiiyama!" she bellowed, looking quite ready for battle.

"Let's do it, then, Helga!" grinned Keith. "Start with Power-Up Punch, then use Crossfire, and once you take an attack, let it taste your Revenge!"

The sound of the uproar was irritating, and she could see that it was bothering the other trainers and Pokemon as much as herself, but with the way it was distracting their main opponent Alice had to feel justified in using it. When Vanillite joined in she was sure of that, too. The damage being dealt over time, however small, would add up next to everyone else's - although she began to doubt her little buddy just a bit when shit got real.

The sight of Keith's Heatran was something to behold, although Alice found it terrifying all the same (wasn't all of this, though?). Fire Pokemon were not something the trainer dealt with well, but one that could spew that much literal poison was scary as all hell. The state that the Z-move (which looked kind of goofy in real life... Bless) left Abomasnow in was probably going to be ingrained into a lifetime's worth of nightmares, and the playback of retaliation that followed. The giant smashed Heatran about like a frozen ragdoll, and Alice wasn't sure of what she would do if Atsumu was treated like that and dumped at her chilly feet. Behind her glasses, her blue eyes were teary, expression shocked. Keith seemed to handle it like a pro. How the fuck he managed that she couldn't fathom. It's not as if he seemed emotionally detached but... Shit, dude.

The battle resumed - as if it had ever stopped - and the stakes felt higher than before. Alice deliberated returning Atsumu for another, but she had to believe he could hold his own, especially when he had only just got out into the fray. "Atsumu, use your disarming voice and strike with two shadow balls! Try to find vulnerable spots to hit him the hardest and keep him on his toes! Keep moving!" It was with intention to make him a harder target to strike, but also because she knew the mega was struggling with the littler soldiers.

Spartacus had acquired a handful of boosts and managed to fell the last of the Snover with one swing of his Metal Claw. Jayson smiled, if Spartacus could make good use of these boosts, then his plan would likely be successful. A powerful Acid Downpour was used again by a strange looking trainer in a cowboy hat. Jayson let out a sigh, that dude really seemed to like that Z move, perhaps a bit too much. The attack had an unexpected effect on the Abomasnow, melting away snow and flesh, changing its appearance and demeanor considerably. The rage of the beast was unrivaled, it seemed to be getting stronger with each passing second. They had to be careful, in this enraged state the Abomasnow would likely be capable of unimaginable feats of strength and power.

Jayson released Sigurd from his Pokeball once more, the Gallade seemed to have overcome his fatigue, his ability having reset. "We have a situation on our hands Sigurd, should we execute the plan now?" The Gallade shook his head, assessing the changed situation, he proposed that they wait for an opportune moment.

"Not just yet, Spartacus can hold his own for a little longer. I have taken a fair amount of damage, if I go back in too soon than I'm afraid I may fall short of goal." Jayson couldn't fault the Gallade's reasoning, digging into his bag he produced a Sitrus Berry which he properly hands to the Gallade. "Thank you, that will help but we must be cautious."

"Of course", agreed Jayson, "let's have Spartacus continue for now, then we'll bring you in to finish the beast off." Cupping his hands around his mouth, Jayson shouts out to his Scizor. "Spartacus keep it up! Get into the air, Metal Claw the Abomasnow before retreating back towards us. Use a Swords Dance as you get close then once you're here we'll get you to Baton Pass to Sigurd."

Glitch rocked its body side to side happily, glad it converted into quite a comfortable type, especially for this battle and this chilly weather. No longer being weak to grass types also helped, lifting off some of its concerns of its current well-being. It was starting to not regret the Bunny Suit that Mélina forced it to put on before the battle, wondering if it would've survived that last, gigantic attack or not if it hasn't healed enough beforehand. Seeing that the Sableye it took an attack for was still standing, it gave him a knowing nod and buzz, wishing it had opposable thumbs (or fingers… and hands, and arms, for that matter) to give him a big thumbs up, glad it could help another Pokémon saving on his health.

“Glitch, are you ok?” Mélina called out to it. The Porygon responded by continuing its little happy floaty dance. “Whew, ok,” she sighed in relief. “I got really worried with that Avalanche there! Thank goodness for your Conversion 2...!”

“Now then,” she put back her game face on, “That Abomasnow is looking pret-ty berserk at the moment. He's so into it, I think debuffs and speed aren't gonna help us now… which goes fine by us, because we're done on that part. Time to execute an offensive plan! Sharpen up those vertices and edges of yours, then put them and your downloaded data into good, heavy metal use - slap it down twice with your Tail, Iron style!

Ore chittered his thanks to the Pokémon that took the attack for him while he Plotted Nasty things to do to the Mega Abomasnow. He then hit the giant Abomasnow with a Confuse Ray and, later, used Dazzling Gleam to give the Blaziken a moment to Bulk Up. He then retreated back to where Melissa and Wildfire were watching the fight, so as not to get caught up in the Z-Move that the Poison guy was going to unleash. Again.

All three of them winced as the giant Abomasnow bellowed in pain and did its best to wipe most of the acid off. They winced again as it emerged, looking worse than it did before, and took its anger out on the source of the Z-Move.

"Man. Keith should be grateful it didn't decide to go after him," Melissa muttered to her Pokémon. "But it doesn't look like status effects or stat changes will do much when it's rampaging around like that, so Ore, here's hoping you're fast." Ore chittered quietly, tapping his claws together in a rare display of nervousness. "Sucker Punch it, then Punishment and Foul Play."

Assuming the first worked, it should give the others a chance to hit the Abomasnow, while Ore repositioned to make the most of the latter two attacks. Granted, the Abomasnow had boosted itself quite a bit, so Melissa was honestly bracing for Ore to get pummeled for taking advantage of that.

Ore visibly took a deep breath before leaping back into the battle with Wildfire and Melissa silently wishing him luck.

Crap, of course the massive powerful beast knew Brick Break, which could easily dissipate Aurora Veil. That meant that Carmen would have to keep her distance next time she would use it. After all, so long as she stays within range of allies but out of arms' reach the veil would slow down attacks. In addition, however, it was getting enraged, that means that it likely would attack without hesitation, that meant that they had to act intelligently.

"Okay, Carmen, let's try this again. Start off with another Present, and use the smoke of the explosion to mask you flying into the sky, followed by you taking off into the skies and use Aurora Veil to get as many allies as possible, land on a tree if you need to use it, but afterwards keep to the skies. Stay out of that Abomasnow's melee range and you should be fine." Bill crossed his fingers hoping that it didn't have any other tricks up its sleeve. Already that it had a Mega Stone, but it also had a TM-only move too? If Bill didn't know any better he'd say that there was some trainer in the background controlling the Abomasnow.

The coal-black bird gave a smirk to the Abomasnow. It was a big brute, not at all smart or cunning. All she needed to do was find the perfect time to set up her present. The only thing that she wished was that her trainer had a flying TM of some sort, since Abomasnow is completely weak to those types of moves, but she needed to work with what she had.

Immediately after hearing her trainer's next instructions, Eclair feels the wind knocked out of her as she is hit with something hard. Athena gasped as her partner Pokemon was struck by a Scizor being punched through the air. She lost sight of the Mawile as she was buried under the snow, but her sharp fanged mouth sliced through the snow easily and Eclair pulled herself out. Eclair sent a sharp hiss in the Scizor's direction but didn't let herself get too angry at another Pokemon on her side. She released a Sweet Scent, using her Fairy charms to lure in more Snover with the tempting scent of berries. They took the bait, and soon the remaining Snover were drawn to her. Eclair put on her best damsel-in-distress face and tears welled up in her eyes. She faced the Snover and sniffled, leaving them unsure of what to do. Once their defenses were lowered, Eclair wiped her face and turned her head to hit the Snover with Flash Cannon. A Snover retaliates with Wood Hammer, and even from where Athena is standing she can tell it definitely hurt. The friendly Houndoom came to her rescue once more, and Eclair took the opportunity to get some distance from the battle and try to catch her breath. Athena covered her mouth and nose as the Houndoom used Smog, but waved her other hand in the air so Eclair could still find her.
"Are you ok?" Athena asked, kneeling down to meet Eclair and look at what kind of state she was in. Eclair nodded, but winced. Athena retrieved the Mawile's Pokeball and returned her to rest.

The downpour of acid had disfigured Abomasnow to the point that Athena felt a little bit bad for it. She knew it wasn't the proper time for sympathy, and she needed to keep helping out in order to take this thing down. The trainer pulled a Luxury Ball out of her bag and called out Choux. The Snubbull grumbled and tried to climb up Athena's leg as soon as he hit the snow. She pried him off and held him out in front of her, frowning.
"If I give you a candy, will you help out just a little?" She bribed. Choux didn't look at her. "Fine, two candies." Choux's stubby little tail wagged a bit and Athena took that as him agreeing. She fished two Rare Candies out of her bag and let Choux eat one.
"You can have the other after!" She chided as Choux whined. "Get in there with Close Combat, try to stay as close to the Abomasnow as you can so it can't hit you. Use Dazzling Gleam, and then you can try warming yourself up with Fire Fang." Choux whined again, but Athena dangled the remaining Rare Candy in front of him. He wouldn't like it, but the Snubbull figured he could make this quick.

Choux grew to Lv. 12!
