Draco Meteor on Jirachi is going to lead to a lot of Smogon hand-wringing.

...Rangeet, it has 140 PWR. I don't call that meh. Now, combine that with the fact many Jirachi run physical moves... Well, Sp Atk lowering attack on a physical attacker has always been one of my all-time fav. combos.

It is somewhat bland. You have to remember, Draco Meteor is only super against one type- Dragon. Without STAB, it's like using Return on a non-Normal Pokemon. Yeah, it could do some damage, but nothing insane. You can put it in the damage calculators. With Max SpA and Choice Specs against a Sleep Talk Snorlax, it can't even 3HKO even if you ignore the 2 SPATK down. And when you do take into account the SpA down, you can barely 3HKO a Bulky Gyarados.

20% chance of frezzing?
What's the point of frezzing if you OHKO? Let me remind you, dragon-type pretty much top their category in every tier. This makes your stratagem pretty simple. Three moves that are either all physical, or a mix of physical and status, and one move that's MEGASTRONG and lowers Sp. attack. Then jirachi can happily plow along, and when a Dragon-type pops up- Pow. OHKO. Also, being the only non-dragon type to date that can learn a Dragon-type move earns it some pretty good points. In fact, it resists dragon! Pretty much the only medium where that won't come in handy is the TCG. Both in Shoddy and the ASBL that's rather helpful. In fact, I can see a lot of people going for Jirachi as their first Legend in the ASBL, mainly because it has so much value in helping to capture other legends. And, it's cute. What's not to like? |

The point is, Ice Punch can just as easily OHKO almost all the Dragons (except for maybe Kingdra) and is more useful against more types than a one-shot Draco Meteor that MIGHT hit a Dragon. While it could be surprising to see a Draco Meteor come out of a physically built Jirachi, so would a Thunderbolt- which is actually SUPER against Skarmory, as opposed to the resisted Draco Meteor, which, even with a Choice Specs and max SpA, wouldn't 3HKO a Skarmory when you take into account the power downs.
And Sceptile, Milotic, and Charizard all learn some Dragon-type attacks, but you don't see them running around willy-nilly with Dragon Pulse or Dragon Claw and dominating OU. Aerodactyl can equip Dragon Claw also, but it's not on the typical setup. Especially when Ice Fang will do the same. Tyranitar can use Dragon Claw, but instead people use Crunch of Rockslide or even Icebeam. |

Got the Jirachi. Comes with a Liechi Berry, which is pretty cool. Especially since I'm too lazy to grow the only one I have lol. After you get the Gift, you can restart to get better stats for Jirachi too, so hopefully I can get one with decent IVs/personality. And yes, it comes with Draco Meteor, but I'll probably not use it.

You do realize the promotion was to get people to go to Gamestop, see their great big sign that says "Heart of Gold/Soul Silver comes out one day after this offer ends!" right?

^Really?
Looks like I'll be able to pre-order SS and get a Jirachi in one fell swoop tomorrow. Cool. I've never had a Jirachi (Not even in PMD). And now I'll have TWO (Diamond and Platinum)! Coolz. |

...Red?
So... Oh, god, don't remind me about Wish Cave. :/ Lv 1 reset, and 99 floors, ended by a boss duel with Jirachi himself. And if you hadn't bought the friend area (pity whatever poor bastard didn't), it would all be for naught. Almost as bad as Purity Forest. |

Ah, I remember hearing that strategy.
*Stupid person that actually listened to the guide book and brought Charizard, with it's monster-house destroying Heat Wave* |
