Winter Village: - Please reply in LightBlue

Shadowshocker: Debating the participating of the tournament in lure of an ice type operative to join you in your squad. Cashing in the information given to you before starting on your journey, your train of thought reminds you that the winter village isn’t much of an interesting journey for those experienced trainers. Leading your mind into reminiscent of your last tournament, your mind begins to wander Ephidel’s loss. Wondering why the level cap was set so low in the frigid mountains of the Volcanic Mountains, you begin the thinking period before realising that while the mountains were home to many beginner trainers, the tournament was implemented to try and convince trainers that they were ready to leave the village and head off for their own adventure.

While a brainwave hit you, you looked down into your squad file database and selected your chosen operatives, all the while Novawing and Wukong had another tussle. Settling your agenda for the time being, you decided to participate in the tournament and turned to Jimmy to tell him the good news, right after you’d told your fire types to stop misbehaving.

“That’s excellent news!” Jimmy said with a beaming face, almost shouting as a few passing locals looked at him on their daily routine, “We’ll go sign up right away”

Following the boy through another set of doors in the Pokémon centre, you find yourself back outside as the snow falls once again on your head, the crystals of ice gently dropping as your feet sink a little as the snow compacts. Obviously used to travelling round in the snow, Jimmy bursts off while you struggle to find your footing, the sno getting progressively deeper as Jimmy turns back.

“Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot you were a passer-by. My brother and I used to do this .... before...” he said trailing off, looking straight ahead as he begins to remember. Settling down, Jimmy begins to walk at a pace you find comfortable as you pass a few more buildings before seeing the giant tournament holding stage, obstructed by an even large cliff. Impressed by the structure of the building, you begin to walk up to it as the automatic doors catch your movement, opening with a swish as a gust of warm air escapes and meets you, rushing you inside to warm back up.

With a smile on your face, Jimmy escorts you to a desk with a pink haired woman sitting in the seat.

“Hello, I’m Nurse Joy, how may I help you today Jimmy, and friend.” She adds at the sight of you, smiling and cheerful. As Jimmy withdraws his Pokédex, you do the same before handing them over to Nurse Joy, Jimmy explaining your wishes.

“We want to register for the double tournament please, its time someone knocked that loud mouth Ken off his throne,” he explains as Nurse Joy just smiles, connecting a USB cable to the back of your Pokédex as the information gets scanned in, a picture of you appearing on the screen confirms it is indeed your Pokédex.

“Welcome Mr.... shadow,” she says as the very little information about you reveals nothing of your true past, “You’re just in time, you two are the last of the contestants. Shadow, you will be facing...”

With Jimmy pumped for battle and you somewhat the same, Nurse Joy reveals your opponent by pulling a lever, the LCD TV above you showing your face on one side, and faces of other trainers of the left, rolling past like a slot machine until it slows. As the trainer is revealed, you see his name, ‘Jak’, underneath his picture. Nodding, you glance and Novawing and Wukong to see their not fighting, to your amazement. With both fire types looking up determinedly, you see they too are ready for battle, but it takes less than half a minute for them to begin again, saying they would KO their opponents faster than each other.

Shaking your head is expectancy, you take back your Pokédex from Nurse Joy before following the signs to the arena. Withdrawing Wukong and Novawing to your belt, you pass a gruff looking security guard. Flashing the pass Nurse Joy had just handed you, the guard moves out of the way to let you through as you proceed down the tunnel. Going from dark to bright, you cover your eyes with your hand as the crowd go wild. As your eyes settle on the light, you find yourself amazed by the turnout, figuring that there must be a good couple of hundred if not a thousand. Figuring the tournament was a high prestige and an event that comes along not so often, you see your opponent come out across the field.

Wishing you good luck, the trainer bounds onto his respective platform as you follow his example. Standing on the purple coloured square, you find it to rise up. With a better and clearer view of the battlefield, you see that it is a regular grass field, laden with snow and boulders, epitomizing the Mount Poilo in its entirety. With the opposite trainer flashing a peace sign as the crowd around him, he digs deep into his pockets before revealing two sparkling Pokéballs. Throwing them in the air, the bright light reveals a Mr. Mime and a Nosepass.

“This Mr. Mime was given to me by my Grandad and I caught this Nosepass myself. We’re going to do him proud so there’s no way you’re getting through to the next round,” the boy says, smiling. With the choice of Pokémon and moves on your shoulders, the tournament’s first battle can get underway.

What will you do?

Hayward: Awaking with a giant headache, you soon find yourself unaware of where you are, the last memories being slightly blurry and faint. Seeing two guards ahead of you, you realize that the situation is dangerous indeed, thinking of a way to get out of it. With little to do but look around with hopes of finding an aid to help you escape, you catch it lucky as the bright crimson colour of a pokéball shone in the sunlight.
Moving your finger over to it, you keep one eye on the guards to make sure your actions aren’t loud enough to disturb them. Getting the slightest of touches on the pokéball, gently jabbing it away as it seems just a little too far out of reach. Moving yourself a little around the pole, you grunt a little as you stretch as far as you can, biting your lower lip with angst before getting your index finger on it once again. Curving it back towards yourself, you flick as hard as you can as the pokéball rolls next to you.

Silently congratulating yourself on a job well done you take a little breather as you think over the words you’re going to say. Deciding to be forthcoming and aggressive with the locals despite just being drugged by a poisoned feather and tied to pole, you shout loudly as the two men bolt upright, their pieces of cut logs they were sitting on falling to the side as the pair look at you.

Clearly another tribe, you notice the markings of a completely different origin than Chief Takanaka’s. Murmuring quietly between themselves, the two people seem already scared of you without you doing much of anything at all. Slightly surprised, you begin to wonder if this was a savage tribe at all as one of the men looks at you, nods to his partner and scurries off, clearly bricking it as he did.

Throwing down your questions with anger, you try to threaten the man but it seems futile. With the man already immobile, he seems to say nothing but his eyes dart around the place as if nervous. Not understanding what you had said, one word seems to make him stop moving his eyes he focuses on you. As if time slows down slightly, the man keeps his eyes connected to yours as you feel a sudden surge of energy.

Deciding that was a little too weird, you decide to follow through with your promise as you click the center button on the pokéball, expanding it before releasing and hoping. As the bright light began to dissipate from the release mechanism of the pokéball, a small ground-dwelling pholidote looks up at you with curiosity. With sharp, small claws on the Sandshrew’s hands, you try to encourage it to release you but all you get in return is a twist of the head, the curious Sandshrew seemingly more interested in you than it is with freeing you. Looking at you with large black eyes, the Sandshrew gives out a small ‘SHREW’ as it beams a smile onto its face, clambering on your head before sitting there.

While this might normally be slightly funny, now was a time of danger. Trying to shake the Sandshrew off your head so it could free you, you can help but wonder why a desert dwelling Pokémon would be in the middle of the forest. With a dry tough hide and a pink underbelly, the Sandshrew decides to lay on your head to prevent you from shaking it off as you suddenly hear the clapping of an unbeknown origin.

*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*

Looking up slightly higher than usual, due to the baby Sandshrew sitting on your head, blocking your peripheral vision upwards. Seeing a man about the age of Chief Takanaka you growl as you struggle against the ropes, feeling them dig into you as you take a deep breath. Noticing the man was clearly not of this tribe, you see the clothes of the western world, much like yours.

“Bravo, Ben. Bravo.” The man says with a hint of sarcasm, speaking clear English “It seems you’ve really outdone yourself this time.” Struggling to understand, you look deep into his eyes, asking how he knows you. “Your Pokémon told me, it’s wasn’t very hard to get them to spill,” he spits “Medeo was the easiest to break, it’s amazing to see what a Hypnosis and an Attract can do for you” he chuckles.

Still slightly confused, you begin to ask the same questions you asked beforehand to the guard. Bending down, the man seems to turn from a sarcastic point of view to a serious, rather aggressive face. Holding out an arm, you see the Sandshrew move from your head and onto his shoulder, the Pokémon clearly under his obtainment.

“Now you listen to me boy,” he sneers through gritted teeth, “It’s not you who should be asking the questions around here, I’m not the terrorist. Now; answer me this. Who’s allegiance are you sworn to? What the hell are the cows for? And why are you trying to burn down the forest?”

What do you say?

Mountain Peak: - Please reply in Cyan

SP-Eevee: With your usually timid Shuppet fading into the background after its random outburst, you turn to Delibird to see the delayed reactions of the avian send it flying onto your lap for comfort. With flails and bad facial impressions alike, the two Pokémon collaborated into leading you outside to investigate the mystery, the ‘brave’ Shuppet conducing the way. Spearheading you to the origin of whatever it was that was bothering the ghost, you begin to walk and think of what it could be, images of ‘bad things’ floating in your mind until you meet extravagant and illogical situations like a T-Rex finding a space portal and terrorizing Mount Poilo.

Hoping Delibird and Matthew weren’t leading you into an awkward situation, you begin to look around amongst the beautiful night sky, the lack of pollution and dust clouds preventing anything getting in the way of the stars burning brightly. Thinking about what could be ‘out there’, so to speak, you think of the stories told of the legendary Pokémon Deoxys, the Pokémon apparently from space with only a handful whom have seen such a specimen. With the luminous balls of plasma burning, you see a shooting star wiz past as even Delibird looks up. Making a wish upon the star, Delibird turns to you and grins. Asking the bird what is wished for, you laugh to yourself as its rubs its belly, indicating another tender from the rack Jason was cooking last night.

Walking around the mountainside, you carefully look down as the moon refracts the sun’s rays, lighting the way as you bear in mind Jason’s words about slipping, Mount Poilo becoming a different place at night. Treading with surefooted steps, you approach a wall as Matthew seems to ignore it, tentatively phasing through it as you stop, waiting for the ghost type to realize.

Within seconds of you not being next to it, the small Shuppet suddenly realizes that you are unable to phase and appears back through the wall with burning red cheeks of embarrassment. Pretending like it was an operative work to scout the area, you tisk as you see straight through his plan. Moving swiftly on, you see a small cut in path through the mountains as you decide to go round it, the inability to phase causing you to redefine the path the Shuppet wanted you to take.

Getting through the cut-away with relative ease, just a shake of a tree branch scaring Delibird as you passed the plant life living in the secluded mountain, maintaining food from the water, you come out the other side to hear talking amuck. Tiptoeing up to the sounds, you suddenly hear a twig snap on the left. As three figures appear around the corner, you notice the Team Magma emblem on their jackets. While they haven’t noticed you just yet, their movements suggests they’ll stop talking as they turn the corner, and see you instead.

What will you do?

Volcano Research Institute: - Please reply in DarkRed

Dark Fire: With thoughts of ransacking the old science lab crossing your mind, you think of how much the equipment would be worth had it been sold to anywhere, but with realization that the products were mass produced back in the day for very little, the only things worth anything would be the modern equipment, but even then they were four times the size of you and had modern day security systems.

Noticing that the lab had no receptionist and only one worker, you assumed that the man was very lonely and after your brief with Blaine, you could see why. Looking at the nature of the old laboratory, you notice it isn’t very well up kept, no maids or cleaners present made obvious by the fact there were many Spinarak webs about, but you spot none of the spiders anyway.

Trying to contain your amusement about the man’s Irish voice, you feel a little disappointment to find that the scientist was merely working on Pokémon behaviour rather than anything interesting like DNA splicing or the creation of Pokémon. Shrugging it off and thinking mutations would have to be another figment of your imagination, you settle for the fact that not all scientology is fun and games, the Pokémon behaviour cycle is important to unlocking how Pokémon work.

Being interrupted by the man’s name, your head fills with questions you wish to ask to the Pokémon professor and introduce yourself back. With a quick handshake, you get right down to business, wanting to learn more about the laboratory.

“What am I researching? A very good question indeed me’ laddy. I am the leading expert at Pokémon behaviours so I am required to do all sorts of research. I do things from how Pokémon eat in the wild to how their behaviour effects their battling prowess. For instance, I can tell that your Manectric was born lonely. This has increased its ability to be ruthless, thus upping its attack, but lowers its defences due to an innate ability to become more emotionally attached.”

Impressed by the Pokémon professor’s knowledge of your Pokémon and having only met it once, this time, you begin to ask more about the task laid ahead of you.

“Well you see, it’s was a fine mornan’ indeed and ma Numel and I were having a jolly time when it started to act crazy. It started freaking out with flamethrowers and ran off. I want you te’ find my Numel, won’t be hard; she’s got a blue collar on, and capture it fur’ me. The pokéball I once held it in got broken when it started freaking out,” he says as he reaches up into one of the cabinets to reveal the shattered pokéball with the label ‘Numey’ on it, “I’d go down and capture it meself but since all the new laboratories opened, all me previous students hoped off and left me in lue of newer an’ better technology.”

As you consider the prospects, Paddy looks at you and sees your innocence.

“Don’t worry about it laddie, I would’ve asked the same question, after all, Blaine is an ex-rocket himself ain’t he? You do have three options though, Numey could be anywhare’. The The Volcanic Caverns provide a good hope, it’s a pretty strong fire type after trainin’ with me, but then again, it could have gone into the Mountain Road. I danno’ where it’s gone, but if ye’ do go, you should wear this camera so I can observe what ya’ find.”

What will you do?

"Hmmm... Perhaps I was barking up the wrong Shiftry with the Ice-type hypothesis," mulled Shadow as he scanned in the opposition's data. "It's a good thing I figured to bring the others along, but that Nosepass is a definite obstacle to Novawing and Wukong. Can't say I'm confident about exposing them to an immediate counter, but what if I played by strengths?..."

"You can make a person proud even in loss; they're not particularly mutually exclusive events," he informed Jak, hands fingering the PokéBall and Lure Ball he had brought with registering, "For now, it's time you met two trusted friends of my own." As both containment spheres were flung to the field, Hardcore was first to emerge from the aura of her Lure Ball, spinning erratically as her Mystic Water flashed against the lighting. Cleo materialised next to her with little more than a quiet growl, but her eyes spoke volumes as she narrowed them in her usual tension and paranoia. Even from where he stood Shadow could observe Nosepass and Mr. Mime quivering slightly; Cleo's Intimidate ability in effect with the battle's beginning.

"Cleo, start off with a Shadow Sneak on Mr. Mime while Hardcore sprays Nosepass down with a Water Gun. Following which, enter a Faint Attack-Rapid Spin combination on Mr. Mime before either of them can recover."

Shadowshocker: With the rocky terrain of the Mount Poilo becoming so apparent with the use of the rock type Nosepass, Novawing and Wukong were out of the running and out of your mind. Thanking your lucky stars you decided to bring your other operatives to help you in battle, you begin with some words of wisdom to which the boy pondered.

“I guess you’re right mister. Maybe that day I brought home Nosepass he was proud of me, his words did seem to echo that of happiness. Thanks man,” he calls out to you as a warming feeling strengthens your resolve, helping people is what you did after all, “But that won’t deter me from this battle! We’ll fight to the end. Good luck!”

Saying your own good lucks and the pokéball squeezed tightly between your fingers, you rub the lure ball and pokéball for good luck before chucking them out onto the battlefield, the Pokéballs landing softly on the snow before cracking open like an egg, an explosion of light following to reveal Cleo and Hardcore, the respective Pokémon on your team.

As the announcer shouted your name and the Pokémon you are using, the stadium erupts with cheers and excitement that lifts the entire atmosphere of battling. Standing in front of thousands of people, Cleo becomes slightly paranoid, but uses its Intimidate to freak out Mr. Mime and Nosepass a little, the two Pokémon reluctant to attack with psychical attacks. As the Staryu seems to revel in its element, it flashes its Mystical Water at the fans, showing them how to do it with a spin.

As you call your attacks, both Cleo and Hardcore nod as they get to work. Moving at the speed of lightning, Cleo expends a sizable portion of energy to animate her shadow, the sun glazing down providing the perfect opportunity. As the crowd ‘ooohs’ as the shadow gets stretched very sneakily, Mr. Mime can do nothing but watch the high speed attack smack him for decent super effective damage.

As Cleo finishes her attacks, Nosepass looks over to Mr. Mime to check if he’s ok. Taking advantage of the situation, Hardcore compresses some water inside its crystal before releasing it; the high pressured stream hitting the rock-type for some good damage like a Water gun. With both Pokémon staggering backwards from the attacks, Hardcore decides to move on to its next move, the Faint Attack. Drawing Mr. Mime into a false sense of security by acting all hurt, Mr. Mime feels sorry before Staryu feigns its recovery, darting in to hit Mr. Mime.

As Hardcore draws near, Nosepass sees the underhandedness and uses a Rollout to intercept the Staryu and hit for mild damage. Without the use of being close, Hardcore decides not to use the Rapid Spin. Collaborating on an attack, Mr. Mime digs deep within himself to find his Psychic aura as he picks up the Nosepass, throwing him at the Staryu. As the Nosepass gets close, it immediately puts its head down and Headbutts Hardcore, dealing some good damage.

As the round ends, the opposite trainer smiles and he flicks his cap with a finger, “Alright! Good job guys, now it’s our turn.” As the trainer orders, it seems that Nosepass is heading to one of the rocks while the Mr. Mime appears to be digging inside for a different psychic attack.

"Going by what Jak remarked, it makes sense that his Mr. Mime could use Psychic in spite of level limits. Since it was given to him by someone its earlier domestication phase raised the likelihood of technical machines... meaning that effectively, it's the bigger threat of the two." With this in mind Shadow frowned slightly from thought before resuming his turn of commands.

"If we assume that Mr. Mime is faster, Cleo, stand in front of Hardcore and be prepared to intercept any Psychic attack Mr. Mime sends over with your natural immunity. While covered, Hardcore, dissuade Nosepass' Rock Throw with a convincing Water Gun, while Cleo shoots Mr. Mime a Glare," he decided. "After which, go into a combination on Mr. Mime with Hardcore charging in using a swift Rapid Spin, and Cleo following up with a Fire Fang to the chest."

Clap. Clap. Clap.

The sound of mocking applause made Ben suddenly tilt his head up to discover its source. A stranger, dressed in the style of the Western World, had just sauntered up, and was now regarding the boy with disdain.

“Bravo, Ben. Bravo.” The man remarked, his voice tinged with sarcasm. His speech was crystal clear and Ben had bolted slightly with surprise at meeting another English-speaker so deep within the Sacred Forest. Ben had no idea who he was, but it was obvious he wasn’t one of the natives. He looked to be about the age of Chief Takanka, and Ben suddenly had a bad feeling about him. As the boy struggled against the bonds that held him tightly to the pole in an effort to free himself, the man continued. “It seems you’ve really outdone yourself this time.”

Meeting the stranger’s gaze full on, Ben tried to discern how the man knew him. The man quickly guessed Ben’s unspoken question, replying, “Your Pokemon told me. It wasn’t very hard for me to get them to spill.” Ben felt his face get hot as his temper rose. Had the man tortured his friends?! Nothing could have prepared Ben for the shock that he received next, as the worst news was still to come. “Medeo was the easiest to break,” the man callously remarked, chuckling slightly. “It’s amazing to see what a Hypnosis and an Attract can do for you.”

Ben’s heart skipped at beat at the man’s words. The ropes that held the boy to the pole were the only things preventing him from flying at the man and rendering him some serious bodily harm at that exact moment. It took all of Ben’s willpower and self-control to calm himself enough to repeat the questions he had asked the two tribal guards only moments ago. Suddenly the mysterious man bent down, an air of menace about him. He held out an arm and the Sandshrew perched on Ben’s head quickly scrambled across it, coming to rest nestled on his shoulder.

Teeth gritted in anger, the stranger sneered, “Now you listen to me boy. It’s not you who should be asking the questions around here. I’m not the terrorist. Now, answer me this. Who’s allegiance are you sworn to? What the hell are the cows for? And why are you trying to burn down the forest?”

The man had made some serious claims. Ben couldn’t believe that man had actually accused him of being a terrorist. Something bizarre was definitely happening. Tied up tightly, Pokemon partners missing, clueless to where he was, and no idea what was going on, Ben realized he had nothing to lose at this point by honest and telling the man everything.

Starting from the beginning, Ben briefly highlighted the events that had brought him there. “My friends and I were traveling through the Sacred Forest earlier today when were ambushed by Chief Takanka’s tribe. They were about to kill us, when suddenly the Chief himself intervened. He called off his man and asked me to transport five Miltank for him to some of his poorer kinsfolk. While we were on our way, a Houndoom attacked us without warning. But after only a few minutes, it retreated, blasting us with fire as it fled. While I was checking on my team’s injuries, we were suddenly ambushed again, but this time by a different tribe. At least I think they were a different tribe, because they had different markings then Chief Takanaka’s men. The arrow they hit me with must have been drugged, because when I woke up just a few minutes ago, I found I had been tied to this pole. I don’t know how long I’ve been out, where I am now, or what happened to my friends. I have the feeling that somehow I’ve been dragged into the middle of a tribal war. I’m not on any side, and I don’t want to be on any side. I only want to stay out of it. The only allegiance I have is to my friends, although I did give Chief Takanaka my word that I would deliver his cows and I still intend to. I’m not a terrorist and I would never try to burn down the forest.”

(What's that smell? Could it be, the smell of epicness? : o!)

It was becoming apparent very quickly that this trip wasn't going to be as simple as first intended. With the realization that a group of Team Magma members the girl realized they'd have to act fast. Though acting quickly wasn't exactly her strongest point. Especially with two fairly young Pokemon with her, it was a risky situation to which she couldn't afford to screw up.

Fight or flee? The answer should be quite obvious however curiosity was a fickle thing, especially when they'd came this far. In any case, they had to avoid detection if possible. Hushing the hyperactive Delibird who at this point was flailing madly as Matthew peeked nervously over to the chatting Magma members from his position behind the girls head.

"Psst, you two, move," she hushed, doing her best so her voice remained at a level to which could not be heard outside their little group. Both Pokemon seemed to realize this as they followed the girl, making their way to a location a fair distance from the Magma members whilst keeping a curious eye on the corner which they could appear from at any moment. Hopefully they hadn't made that much of a noise...

Paddy did not have much of an issue responding to Rayne's questions, responding to each one by one.

"What am I researching? A very good question indeed me’ laddy. I am the leading expert at Pokémon behaviours so I am required to do all sorts of research. I do things from how Pokémon eat in the wild to how their behaviour effects their battling prowess. For instance, I can tell that your Manectric was born lonely. This has increased its ability to be ruthless, thus upping its attack, but lowers its defences due to an innate ability to become more emotionally attached." This was certainly very impressive; Paddy knew his stuff. He glanced down at his Manectric who was lazily laying by his feet, his snout resting on Rayne's feet. What Paddy said was true, but Rayne couldn't help but wonder if Apollo had been this way his whole life. Rayne had obtained him in a trade after all, and he never knew how Apollo was like with his other trainer. He always felt slightly guilty because he obtained Apollo rather late in his development, and it could have been the separation from his original trainer that cause him to be so reclusive. Either way, Apollo over the years has gotten more accustomed to Rayne, and has become more open around him; compared to the rest of his team however, Apollo was by far the most intraverted and least outspoken. Maybe one day he would break through his "shell" ... one day ...

"... Numel ... crazy ... freaking out with flamethrowers ..." The researchers rambling finally snapped Rayne's attention back to the matter at hand. "I want you te’ find my Numel, won’t be hard; she’s got a blue collar on, and capture it fur’ me. The pokéball I once held it in got broken when it started freaking out." Paddy said, revealing the shattered husk of the Numel's pokeball. The task seemed simple enough, but this was a berserk pokemon they were talking about; should be fun.

"I’d go down and capture it meself but since all the new laboratories opened, all me previous students hoped off and left me in lue of newer an’ better technology". No surprise there, this place was halfway to ruin, no blame on the pupils that left for better working conditions. "Don’t worry about it laddie, I would’ve asked the same question, after all, Blaine is an ex-rocket himself ain’t he? You do have three options though, Numey could be anywhare’. The The Volcanic Caverns provide a good hope, it’s a pretty strong fire type after trainin’ with me, but then again, it could have gone into the Mountain Road. I danno’ where it’s gone, but if ye’ do go, you should wear this camera so I can observe what ya’ find." He concluded. All Rayne could think about however was the fact that he only listed off two options. Breathing slowly he weighed his options. Finally he grabbed the camera and looked straight at Paddy.

"I'll do it. I'll go capture Numey for you." He shook his hand before motioning Apollo to get up with a slight movement of his head. "While we're doing that, you should probably work on tidying this place up. Who knows, if you got this place cleaned up maybe you can recruit some new students. I'd start with those webs if I were you ..." Smiling, he pointed out a corner that was particularly messy; perhaps due to an Ariados, who knew, it was very unimpressive though. Apollo and Rayne walked out into the desert side by side, much to the dismay of Apollo, who once again found his fur being unruly in the arid climate. Rayne had decided to search the Volcanic Caverns first, seeing as he was familiar with their location. Gradually he adjusted their course, until at last they were essentially bee lining towards the caverns. When they lost view of the VRI Rayne finally spoke his mind ...

"I'm still not convinced about this guy Apollo. This behavioural research seems a little sketchy. Maybe I'm just being too skeptical ... but why would this Numel freak out like that?" Apollo simply shrugged. Apparently he didn't give a crap about Paddy's research, which amused Rayne. Maybe he was overreacting a bit; maybe Rayne was truly helping him put the final pieces of his research together. He was hoping he was wrong in doubting Paddy, hoping this research was legit, and that thought excited him. Once they found this Numel he would have his answers. "Oh! I almost forgot. This Numel is part ground type, so we should be careful around it. Here! Have this, do whatever it is that you pokemon do with these things." Rayne was talking about berries of course. He had no idea how pokemon did it, but somehow they knew how to tap into the berries' mysterious properties on cue. He rummaged through his bag, pulling out his Berry Bag, and from within he pulled out a Shuca Berry, tossing it to Apollo. That should provide some weakness coverage to his electric canine.

And so they continued on their merry way, getting ever close to the Volcanic Caverns ...

Shadowshocker: Figuring the previous owner of the Mr. Mime must have been one to teach it such a wide array of technical machines before passing it on as a gift, you declare the psychic character to be the most dangerous of the two, your team mates acknowledging the theory and prepare for the next round.

With Jak happy and ordering his own Pokémon orders, you use a protective order as Cleo bows its head, moving into position in front of Hardcore as the two appear to be in unison with each other; representing the hard work and partnership the tournament stands for. As you watch on, you see a mild smirk arrange on Mr. Mime’s face as it shows its tricked you, using the previous owner’s training to Calm its mind as Cleo groans in misjudgement, the psychic attack suggesting that it was going to attack.

“Grandpa was a stealth expert for the FBI. He taught me everything he knows,” Jak explains as he points down to his Pokémon.

Witnessing the events that unfolded, Hardcore still stood beside Cleo as the attack fooled them both, but by the time they both realized it, Nosepass was already at the snow laced rock. With the forward momentum of the Nosepass, the following rock throw resulting in a rock being flown with such pace that Hardcore had to rally pace itself to use a Water Gun to blow the rock off course, the boulder missing your two Pokémon by mere inches as it tumbles along the floor.

With the unearthing of your orders, Cleo and Hardcore look a little distained as they continue your planned performance. As Cleo’s paranoid eye scan the surrounding view, the Ankhal decides to follow your orders by Glaring at the Mr. Mime, the psychic freezing in place at the dark-type’s stare. With the Psychic type in frozen mode, Hardcore begins by Rapidly Spinning, causing some snow to slap up behind the Staryu aas it propels itself forward in a fast pace, hitting the Mr. Mime with the five prongs hitting for decent damage. With Cleo wanting in on the fun on the recovering Mr. Mime, its fang covered in a red glaze of fire as its bites Mr. Mime.

With Mr. Mime kept in check, the Nosepass has a free run as it stomps on the snowy earth, converting the rocks on the floor to encase Hardcore in a Tomb. All the while, Mr. Mime recovers with a stagger before Thunder Waving Cleo, holding it in as the muscles tense on Cleo, ending the round. With your opponent revealing what it wants to, when he wants to; the trainer seems to be using its Grandfather’s old lessons to his advantage.

What will you do?

The Sacred Forest: - Please reply in Green

Hayward: Finding yourself having to provide a self sufficient answer for the dictator that was clearly not from the original aboriginals, you find yourself startled that your starter Pokémon could be so easily coerced into giving up information on yourself. Shuddering at the prospect of laden guilt free information being handed to someone that caused your stomach to turn, you are forced to give the honest answers to the questions after quieting down, the anger of punching the man settling down.

As you begin to calmly explain the entire premises of your current adventure in the sacred forest, you find the man cringe at Chief Takanaka’s name and bolt somewhat at the Houndoom’s mention, the precaution of the names obviously causing some inside turmoil as you share in the information that something was indeed disturbing the mysterious looking man.

“So the cows are Takanaka’s peace offering, eh? Took him long enough after what he did,” the man mused as he stared at you. You don’t look like his usual correspondent.

As you wait on his word, he turns without a sudden and sticks his hand into his pocket, withdrawing a Pokédex before clicking a few buttons. As you find yourself shocked that the man had been trusted enough to be handed a Pokédex, the highest honour for a Pokémon trainer to receive. Listening in, you hear the man calling someone, confirming something beyond your understanding before mentioning your answers in a few quick sentences.

“Hmm, yes, I thought that as well. Well I suppose he could know of the prophecy from what the chief told him. I don’t know, he could be lying. A test? Sure, we’ll give it a go.” With the fragments of the Pokédex holder’s conversation catching your ears with interest, the man turns back towards you as he puts away the red mechanical device, pulling out a large hunting knife from his belt, the sheath hidden from view behind a brown jacket until he pulled it out. Moving behind you and squatting down, you have a dramatic pause before feeling the tension in your wrists lighten, the man cutting the ropes. As you stand up sheepishly, dusting yourself off, you find that the man returns your Pokéballs as a wave of relief washes over you.

“Right then, considering you are apparently the chosen one; we’re going to have to put you through a little test,” he says, looking deep into your eyes as you nod, happy to be reunited with your once beseeched Pokémon.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Your conversation with the mysterious man is interrupted by a strange beeping noise. Unbeknownst to you, the Pokédex carries a rather urgent message as the man opposite you flicks the Pokédex open in a hurry, answering the message and flicking the loudspeaker on.

“Code red. Code red,” a voice protrudes, female in nature as the voice seems tentative and worried, “It’s what we first feared. One of the Miltak has given birth to seven baby shadow Tauros. They’ve killed the mother and the Tauros are wrecking lower Khieve. Daniel? DANIEL DO YOU COPY”

As the man stands there unable to speak, you feel a pain of guilt as you realize that the Chief has tricked you to pull a Trojan Horse on the opposing tribe. Seeing no way around it, the man turns back to his Pokédex.

“Copy. We are Oscar-Mike to head to lower Khieve.” The solemn tone belates through the Pokédex as the woman stops talking, a dead line sound replacing the voice. As the man turns to you, you can see some tears in his mind as he squints at you.

“YOU! YOU’VE DONE THIS!” he screams as his knife becomes wielded back in his hand, pointing it at you threateningly, “ALL THAT TIME WE BROUGHT THIS PLACE UP, PROTECTING THEM FOR WHAT? FOR SOME KID TO BURST IN AND RUIN IT ALL. WELL YOU’RE NOT GETTING AWAY WITH IT, YOU’RE GOING TO STOP THESE DAMN BULL OR DIE ALONG SIDE THEM!”

As you begin to back away, you hear a low rumbling noise before four young Shadow Tauros burst from the undergrowth, snarling while foaming from their mouth, bloodlust eyes staring at you.

“Ah, there we go. They’ve even saved you the bother of walking,” the man says in a sarcastic tone once more, his cheeks glistening with tears running down his cheek. “And now she’s gone. Forever I have attempted to please her and finally got her on a date, but now she’s gone. She must be, they’ve killed her. You’ve killed her. I’ll take the two on the right; you can do whatever you want. I don’t care anymore.”

What will you do?

SP-Eevee: With a simple journey turning into a frivolous adventure of danger and un-expectancy, you begin to head back on your heels, keeping your back turned to your destination to observe the movements of the Magma grunts ahead of you. With your Pokémon moving backwards among the recommendation of your words, innately trying to avoid the sight of Team Magma, you feel the stress and strain of the movements as time seemingly begins to slow

With no alter motives of moving, you look behind to see the corner of origin where you first came was too far away for the respite of running, as the Magma grunts were clearly moving too fast for you to keep up. Looking around in desperation, you back off towards a stricken tree, a few leaves and branches causing the final stand for your dampened plans to hide. As you try to situate yourself in a spot, you no longer see the Team Magma grunts, clearly turning the corner and in the blind spot. In the undignified effects of flailing of arms and scared hiding, you find yourself cussing as you hear the snapping of a twig underneath your feet. Looking down in horror, you find that it’s your foot that has triggered the snapping, a large brown but rather dwindly twig cracked in half.

“Hey did you hear that?” you hear as you pray to Arceus, “Yeah, I think I did. Who’s there?” another shouts as you soon hear the rushed feet on the rocks of Mount Poilo’s mountain surface.

Soon to be diminished, you find a hand cover your mouth as your attempts to scream become muffled, a new experience as you shut your eyes, all the while expecting it to be a Team Magma member capturing you ready for a savage inquisition of what and how you’re doing there. As you open your eyes, you see the faint yellow of an Ampharos picking up your two Pokémon, Shuppet and Delibird also being muffled by the paws of a Pokémon.

As you turn, your eyes scan the surroundings before seeing Jason, Jessica and Ampharos standing in front of you, the brother and sister dressed in pure black, a belt full of gizmos that your eyes observe.

“Nobody here, you’re just seeing things Valve.” You hear some Magma grunts shout as they turn on their heels, heading back for their regular foot patrol. With the sound of feet lowering to a distant silence, you see Jason lower his balaclava a style mask and with a serious face looks at you.

“So I bet you have a few questions, eh.”

What will you say?

Dark Fire: As you begin to deliberate the effects of your Pokémon’s nature, you reminisce on the events of the hatchling being traded to you, the small Manectric lazing by your feet as you think about how the Manectric once was. Snapping back to reality, you find Paddy to be relaying the events while waffling as you begin to become unable to comprehend what he’s talking about. Finding the silver lining on the cloud of berserk Pokémon going wild, you accept the challenge laid ahead of you with a cheeky grin.

Finding that the professor only mentioned two options despite originally prompting three, you seem the hidden agenda of the scientist is too horrifying and dangerous for you to handle, so remorsefully decides not to put your life at risk. Mentioning the prospect of tidying the lab in an attempt to handle more requests of students wanting to spend time here, the scientist’s face lights up as he imagines the hopeful prospects of more undergraduates for him to teach.

“Aye laddie, suppose that’ll do it. Ty” the man says as he begins to root in a few cupboards as you can’t see what’s in them. Ushering Apollo out the lab with a simple hand gesture, you take a few moments before talking your worries out with Apollo, but alas, the electric dog just tilts its head and walks alongside you, thankful for the walk.

Tossing Apollo a Shuca Berry for the journey ahead, you soon become to the familiar territory of the Volcanic Caverns. Seeing caves among caves, you decide to check them one by one as you poke your head into the cave. Seeing nothing, you turn back with your first attempt ending in failure, you see the ears of Apollo prick up as the Manectric begins to sniff the ground before barking at you to follow him. With no alter ideas, you follow the trail of the electric-type as you suddenly see a large influx of burst rocks scatter the rocky terrain.

As you turn the corner, you see five separate Numel marching in unison with slightly red tinted eyes, an abnormality for the natural species of Numel. Figuring you should follow to lead, you soon see a blue collar disconnected on the floor, shaped with red spots of blood. As you pick the collar up and give it to Manectric to sniff and follow, you find the electric-type wandering down a cavern. Seeing a turn in the path, a fork precedes you as Manectric can’t figure out which to go. It seems it up to you to decide which way to go, but with no sight of any Numel around, it’s a hard choice; left or right.

What will you do?

@ Treep, I really appreciate the speedy updates. Thanks for all your time, effort, and hard work. I'm loving the adventure. -H

In a clearing deep within the Volcanic Mountain’s Sacred Forest, the trainer Benjamin Hale finished relating to the stranger the events that had brought him to the arboreal countryside. The man listened intently, yet bolted at the sound of Chief Takanaka’s name and cringed at the mentioned of the Houndoom attack. It was clear to Ben that the man was not pleased to learn about the roles the tribal dignitary and devil dog had played in the things that had happened.

“So the cows are Takanaka’s peace offering, eh? Took him long enough after what he did,” the man mused, fixing his gaze on Ben before continuing. “You don’t look like his usual correspondent.”

Usual correspondent - what did that mean? Ben considered the stranger’s words while keeping a watchful eye on him, unsure what would happen next. The boy’s anger had cooled considerably and he waited patiently for the mysterious man to make the next move. It wasn’t like Ben had much of a choice though, as he was still tied tightly to the pole. Without warning, the man suddenly reached inside his pocket. Ben reflexively drew in his breath, thinking the stranger was reaching for a gun. However, the man withdrew a compact electronic machine instead, and Ben bolted with astonishment at the sight of the familiar-looking object.

It was a Pokédex; the portable device frequently used by trainers to record the data of Pokemon, strategize and manage their attacks, and temporarily cancel evolutions. Ben gaped at the stranger. Just who was he? Ben simply could not believe that the man had been entrusted with a Pokédex also. While not an uncommon sight, Ben knew that the tiny mechanical encyclopedias were one of the highest honours a trainer could receive and were therefore usually only conferred upon talented and skilled individuals who had proven themselves reliable and trustworthy.

The stranger pressed a few buttons, attempting to establish a connection. Someone on the other end of the line responded, and the man verified the unknown speaker’s question, saying, “Hmm, yes, I thought that as well. Well, I suppose he could know of the prophecy from what the chief told him. I don’t know, he could be lying. A test? Sure, we’ll give it a go.”

Ben listened to the few fragments of the stranger’s conversation, attempting to connect the dots and fill in the holes where he could. Something much larger was going on here than what Ben had originally guessed. The stranger finished his conversation and quickly stuffed his Pokédex back into his pocket. He turned to Ben, pulling a large knife out of a sheath conveniently hidden on his belt by a heavy coat. The man moved behind Ben, squatted down, and sliced the bonds that held Ben to the pole. Ben quickly rose to his feet, thanking the man and absentmindedly brushing the dirt off the seat of his trousers.

The stranger waited until Ben had finished massaging his sore wrists before handing over the boy’s Pokeballs. Ben eagerly checked each of the capture capsules, peering through their transparent top coverings one at a time, worried about the status of his team. His partners were okay and grinned back at him to show that they had not harmed. Ben let out a grateful sigh and gently placed the variously-colored spheres into his courier bag.

“Right then, considering you are apparently the chosen one; we’re going to have to put you through a little test.” The stranger spoke, staring hard at Ben as he did, but the boy was still too overjoyed at having be reunited with his friends and nodded dully, barely hearing the man’s words. Before the stranger could further explain the testing, though the sound of an incoming message cut him short.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

It was obvious from the stranger’s reaction that the transmission was urgent. He nearly ripped the front cover off the device in his haste, opening it for the second time in only a matter of moments. Ben watched the man with great interest as he flicked on the loudspeaker and waited for the message. A female voice crackled to life and as she spoke, it was impossible to mistake the worry and concern she felt. “Code red. Code red. It’s what we first feared. One of the Miltank has given birth to seven baby shadow Tauros. They’ve killed the mother and the Tauros are wrecking lower Khieve. Daniel? DANIEL DO YOU COPY?!

Too stunned for words, the stranger simply stood there, unable to speak. Ben was filled with guilt and remorse as he continued to watch the man and thought about the woman’s news. The puzzle pieces were beginning to fall into place. It was obvious now that Chief Takanaka had used him. Ben had been duped into escorting a biological weapon of sorts straight into the heart of the Chief’s rival tribe. In doing so, Ben had unwittingly become the pawn in a feud between the two warring factions. To make matters worse, someone’s mother had been killed. He let out a deep sigh as he realized his actions had played a part in the woman’s death. Ben knew he had not actually taken the woman’s life himself, but it was ultimately his fault she had died.

While Ben was considering the moral ramifications of his decision to help Chief Takanaka, the stranger continued to stand silently nearby. Having apparently resigned himself to the fact that nothing could be done to change the situation, he reluctantly turned back to his communicator, solemnly confirming, “Copy. We are Oscar-Mike to head to lower Khieve.”

The stranger then suddenly rounded on Ben, brandishing his knife threateningly. “YOU! YOU’VE DONE THIS!” he accused, the sharp point of his blade coming dangerously close to Ben’s chest. Ben backpedaled uncertainly as the man continued to scream. “ALL THAT TIME WE BROUGHT THIS PLACE UP, PROTECTING THEM FOR WHAT? FOR SOME KID TO BURST IN AND RUIN IT ALL. WELL YOU’RE NOT GETTING AWAY WITH IT, YOU’RE GOING TO STOP THESE DAMN BULLS OR DIE ALONGSIDE THEM!”

A low rumble echoed around the arboreal countryside as the man finished his tirade, and an air of menace suddenly descended upon the clearing. Filled with a sense of foreboding, Ben glanced warily around the clearing, looking for the source of the noise. However, he wasn’t entirely sure the stranger was stable, so he didn’t want to take his eyes of him for too long. At just that moment, a quartet of scarlet-eyed Shadow Tauros thundered into view, snarling and foaming at the mouth, their triple tails whipping frenziedly behind them. The aura of hostility and cruelty they exuded was even evident to Ben’s Pokemon partners. He felt their Pokeballs shaking inside his courier bag.

The stranger turned to Ben again. “Ah, there we go. They’ve even saved you the bother of walking,” he remarked sarcastically as tears ran in rivers down his cheeks. “And now she’s gone. Forever I have attempted to please her and finally got her on a date, but now she’s gone. She must be, they’ve killed her. You’ve killed her. I’ll take the two on the right; you can do whatever you want. I don’t care anymore.”

Ben wanted to answer the stranger's accusations, but he knew the man would never listen to him. He turned to face the Shadow Tauros. For now, Ben realized they both had bigger things to worry about. As Ben gazed at the sinister monsters, he realized it wasn’t the first time he had come into contact with a Shadow Pokemon. During one of his travels, he had stopped off at a tiny, out-of-the-way cantina where he had met a young lad and his Shadow Zangoose. From that brief encounter, Ben recalled that the Shadow species could be merciless and had a plethora of unique moves at their disposal. Ben knew his Pokedex would not help him at all in this battle. He would have to come up with a strategy on his own and trust his team to carry it out.

Reaching into his bag, Ben quickly withdrew two Pokeballs and held them out at arm’s length. The twin spheres expanded to full size in Ben’s hands as he pressed their round trigger switches and prepared to face off against the hard-charging Shadow Tauros. The Bull Pokemon were nearly upon them. With a simultaneous flick of his wrists, Ben sent forth his Pokemon to battle. Two brilliant flashes of scarlet appeared followed closely by an aggressive-looking river crab and a little gray pinecone.

“Ready for some action, boys?” Ben asked, nodding at his partners. “Look sharp now! Here they come! Forteo, you try to slow them down with a layer of Spikes. Follow up by hitting the farthest Tauros with a Toxic.” Swaying back-and-forth, the Pineco Forteo put on a giddy expression and spun around as Ben continued. “Keo, go with Leer to lower their defenses, then give the nearest Tauros a Vice Grip!” Glaring determinedly at the sinister bulls, Keo clacked his claws together noisily and scuttled from side-to-side. He was eager to get in there and mix it up with the much bigger Pokemon.

As his tiny partners readied themselves to fight, Ben called out some final words of warning. “Shadow Pokemon can be very unpredictable! Work together and be ready to cover each other!”

“Here we are.” Rayne uttered when the unmistakable sight of the Volcanic Caverns came into view. From far it looked as if someone had gouged the solid ground and hills with large prodding fingers, causing the land to fold into itself, creating the iconic tunnels and caves. Rayne understood the chances of finding Numey were slim considering the enormity and complexity of the caverns, but he would do his best.

“Oh … I almost forgot again …” Rayne removed his bag, and once again began digging within it. Apollo tilted his head in confusion wondering what his trainer was going on about. After a few moments of searching Rayne finally found what he was looking for; he pulled out his trusty TM case, winking at Apollo. Rayne snapped the case open, and sifted through his rather meagre collection of technical machines, pulling out two disc shaped objects. “I got some new moves for you buddy. They should make you a bit more formidable of an opponent.” The electric canine moved closer to inspect, so Rayne went ahead and pressed the TMs against Apollo’s forehead. A bright flash ensued, which was then spiralled into Apollo’s head. His Manectric was now equipped with Water Pulse and Dragonbreath. Apollo winced a little, his face contorted, and then he burped, letting out a pinkish bluish flame alongside the burp. A smile cross his face, showing off those sick-nasty teeth of his. Apollo tried once more, this time forcing out a huge flame, comparable to that of any of his fire type’s flamethrowers.

“Atta boy. Try a water pulse this time.” Apollo nodded, and without hesitation shot out several concentric rings of water which travelled through the air in a mesmerising fashion. “Very nice. That will come in handy against those pesky ground types. Numels and Magcargos have no chance against you now, eh?” Rayne joked, playfully patting both sides of Apollo’s face in an attempt to aggravate him a bit. Like any canine, Apollo didn’t like this, and tried to bite onto Rayne’s hands, but he wasn’t nearly quick enough (like all canines) …

After that quick pause Rayne and Apollo were off yet again, and when they finally reached the caverns the search began. A search which felt really futile. As the two of them scanned cave after cave, the realization soon began to sink in: they might never find this Numel. After what seemed like hours, Rayne was ready to give in and go search elsewhere, when Apollo’s ears perked up. The Manectric tensed up, stretched out to raise his head as high off the ground as possible and scanned the horizon.

“What is it? Is something coming?” Rayne asked.

“Tree!” Was the swift reply, informing Rayne that he was indeed onto something. Apollo bolted off heading to the base of the hill they were on. Without skipping a beat Rayne gave chase. Apollo stopped abruptly at the bottom of the hill, and began sniffing around, trying to pick up a scent. That task did not take Apollo all that long and just as Rayne caught up to him the tracking dog was off yet again. Rayne once again began his awkward chase, when out of the corner of his eye he began noticing that there was a large amount of shattered rocks around; as if someone or something had gone and purposely destroyed the rocks that lined this little path.

As strange as this sight was, what was waiting for him around the bend was even more so. A group of five Numel were all marching in perfect sync, an odd redness in their eyes. Apollo stopped on a dime, turning back to see if his trainer was seeing what he was seeing. Rayne shrugged, while pulling the camera over his neck. He needed to film this so that Paddy could see it for himself later. Quietly he got a better vantage point by climbing up onto a large rock, and zoomed onto the five Numel, scanning each one by one, looking for a blue collar. No dice. None of them had the blue collar on. Disgruntled he zoomed in further, filming the odd eye colour. As he did so, he put his thumb and index finger together, putting them to his mouth as if taking a hit. Apollo fell over and began rolling around in laughter. Rayne joined him in laughing as he climbed off the rock.

“Maybe Numey found somebody’s stash in the institute and ran to the wild to have a sesh with all her buddies.” Rayne kidded. Still laughing a bit, he motioned for Apollo to follow the Numel pack. The two of them followed from a safe distance, making sure not to divulge their presence to the berserk Numels, when they spotted what they were looking for lying on the earth; the blue collar. Rayne ran up to it, pulling out his camera once again, filming the exact location and surroundings of the collar, before zooming onto the bloody collar. Why was it bloody? This situation was getting weirder and weirder by the moment.

Thinking of no better option he lifted the collar and let Apollo pick up its scent; and he was off like a bullet, steering straight towards a cavern farther up the path. Rayne gave pursuit, doing his best in following the canine, placing the collar in his bag and avoiding tripping over any potholes or rocks that lined the path. Soon he was at the mouth of the cave Apollo ran into, but his partner was no where to be found. Shaking his head he kept on running, blindly, deeper into the cave. To his great relief he soon spotted his Manectric, sitting patiently at a fork in the tunnel. Apparently Apollo lost the scent.

“You lost the scent? Are you for real?” Rayne laughed. The situation was so ridiculous he couldn’t help but laugh, even though there was nothing funny about it. “So we guess again … let’s go … down … the … uhm … left? … one? Yeah! Left tunnel it is. Let’s go. Can I get some light though, Apollo? I’m not as adapt at seeing in darkness.” Apollo barked his agreement, before charging his fur with electricity, unleashing a Flash attack, the pulsating electric current providing the pair with plenty of light as they took the first few steps down the left tunnel. What awaited them, he did not know, but he anticipated an encounter … only time would tell.

@Hayward – No problem, it’s your replies that are making this adventure. Your replies are open and give me enough room to challenge you and provide an adventure that I hope to continue. I’m enjoying it, glad you are too. ;P

@DarkFire – I apologize for the times where I have to reiterate myself as to why something has happened. I sometimes forget to go into detail about the matters of why X did Y, such as the Manectric losing Numey’s scent. Some will be planned but if I do forget when I’m reading over, I’ll usually include it in the next update.

Thank you both for the speedy updates, I appreciate it. : )

The Sacred Forest: - Please reply in Green

Hayward: Finding yourself in a stick situation with no words to explain what was going on, you can only get up from your previous position tied to the pole and massage your strained wrists. Unable to think properly due to the largeness of the problem you once thought so small, you peer into the translucent Pokéballs to see your comrades all well. Overjoyed to be reunited with your comrades after a nightmare time apart, you barely hear what the man is saying.

Cut out by a distress call on the man’s Pokédex, you suddenly realize you have been used. Positioning in remorse over what you had been forced to do, you look back over the events that led up to the moment and piece the puzzle together; the chief’s disappearance; the tribe’s sacredness of Mightyena; the attack by the Houndoom and the shadow marking on the Miltank. Understanding now that you had been an unwilling pawn in a game of tribal warfare, you curse the underhandedness of the rival faction’s tactics, the terrorist style attacks targeting people of the village. With the death of the mother Miltank adding insult to injury, you suddenly see the man confirm the actions he had solemnly swore before going golbat-shit crazy, obviously concerned and disillusioned by the whole experience.

Backpedalling from the knife wielding maniac, you hear the noise of a low rumbling before four young shadow Tauros burst from the undergrowth. With hostility from every corner, you decide to let the man calm down in fear of another outburst, more concerned about the vital safety of yourself from the rabid beasts, made specifically to cause havoc among Khieve. Recalling memories of other Shadow Pokémon from a trainer who owns one, you evoke recollections of a unique move set and merciless nature. With this adding to your problems to date, you realize that the ever-so-trusty Pokédex wouldn’t be able to assist you this time. Reaching into the bag you had just received back from the man who you assumed to be called Daniel, you withdraw two Pokéballs before releasing them onto the battlefield, the last hope in maintaining your life in the sacred forest. With both Krabby and Pineco at your side, you began the frivolous fight to ensure the safety of the town, as well as yourself.

Alongside you, the unfamiliar faces of a Machoke and a Toxicroak battle alongside you, Daniel holding himself in as the knife becomes branded in his hand as an extra security measure in case the shadow Pokémon were to come close. Deciding on your form of action, you provide your Pokémon with commands of action before turning to the battlefield.

“You know I used to be just like you kid,” Daniel explains as he turns to you, eyes squinted as if he’s trying to remember back into the past, “It was a simple day when I came to the woods, me and Hannah had travelled far and wide and had decided to volunteer for a Pokémon missionary programme. We got here about ten years ago, I must have been your age. Heard of a prophecy that a boy would save the rivalling tribes from war, stop the violence and killings. It wasn’t me. I failed at the challenges and stayed here ever since. I can’t just abandon these people, I built Khieve from the ground up.”

As the man explains, you switch from battlefield to person as the story gets to you, drawing you deeper as the Tauros stand looking at you, as if waiting for something.

“You see; Takanaka is a dictator and forced the people into submission. We freed them, but it wasn’t enough. His forces were too strong and so we had to leave. But now he’s invading once more, with even stronger forces. The prophecy says that a Houndoom will appear to the one that can save us, and will fight alongside him to prevent the war. But now that he’s here with these Tauros, our outer posts will fall. There can’t be a prophecy as it’s already begun. Nobody could prevent this.”

As the man seems to break down before your very eyes by giving you his life story, you recollect the information. Unable to stop his blubbering like a dying man on his death bed, you hear a unisoned snort as the harmonious Tauros look to begin the battle. A quick nod to your companions and your team is off.

First to move, Pineco uses its centrifugal force to pump out a large amount of blue-coloured spikes across the floor. With the Shadow Tauros eyeing them up, Pineco’s spikes cover the area to prevent the two Tauros from advancing as they stare at you, a cautious predator stalking its prey in wait. Deciding to take advantage of the non-movement, Pineco continues by regurgitating some nasty looking gunk which it then spews on the Tauros to the left. As the Tauros feels the impact of the goo, it merely stands there snorting through its nostrils heavily as the toxic begins to seep down onto its coat.

As you tell Keo to keep up the hard work, the Krabby begins to Leer at the Tauros but becomes entranced by the staring contest, before scuttling backwards with fright. Looking up, you realize that the Tauros must have pulled a Scary Face to scare Keo into lowering its speed, and with little answer, it seems the leer has become ineffective.

Offering your advice to Daniel, the man stands perplexed looking at you before nodding, shouting his own orders, albeit very late in comparison to yours. As Keo waits for the opportune moment to strike with the Vice Grip the Pokémon decides not to cross the strip of spikes in fear of hurting itself.

“No! Hannah can’t be dead. She just can’t,” Daniel shouts randomly as you find him to be going through the seven stages of denial. “Not after everything we’ve done. She’ll see it out to the very end. She must.”

As Daniel takes his eye of the prize; the Tauros seem to spring into action as if picking out the weaker member in an attempt to make the job easier. With Daniel blubbering away at the thought of Hannah gone, the first Tauros charges at his two Pokémon with a Tackle, knocking them aside. With the other following in quick suit, the Shadow Tauros performs a Take Down, knocking Daniel off his feet and with a sickening crunch, lands on his back. As the trainer falls, his fingers accidently touch the release mechanism on his Pokéballs, and both Machoke and Toxicroak’s eyes widen as they get withdrawn. Guping, you see the two other Tauros use the lack of Pokémon to their advantage as they slowly circle round the spikes to create an open-ended area, four of them facing you in the same direction. With only one vice grip left, you sense Keo has but one hope of defeating all of them.

As all four Tauros look at you, you pray to Arcues. As you open your eyes from the prayer, you find, to your surprise, that a large ring of fire had encompassed one of the Tauros, the Fire spin trapping one of the Tauros. Hearing a rumbling in the bush behind you, you turn to see a Houndoom and a Sandslash burst out and stand by your side. Roaring in warning, Houndoom seems to want to team up with you to prevent the Tauros from getting any closer.

As the remaining three Tauros stare you down, you see them attack together with a Shadow Rush. As quick as lightning, each of the Pokémon seem to become assigned to another a Keo takes the Tauros in the middle, locking it in a Vice Grip before struggling to kee the weight, just about managing to win before throwing it back the Tauros falling before getting back up. Beside you, Houndoom meets the shadow rush with a Crunch to the neck before also throwing it back. On your other side, the Sandslash Slashes at the underbelly of the Tauros as it winds it, pushing it back. Recollecting themselves, the Tauros seem pretty mad. After losing two team-mates and gaining two, it seems another round of combat is up.

What will you do?

Volcano Research Institute: - Please reply in DarkRed

Dark Fire: Figuring that the Manectric could do with a little boost to help defeat the ground types, you proceed to give Apollo the two technical machines you had stacked in your backpack; Water Pulse and Dragon Pulse. After a few minutes of teaching how to use the brand new moves that you had taught Manectric, you play with the electric-dog for a few more minutes, teasing him with hand tricks on the side of his mouth before moving to the subject at hand.

Pursuing an awkward chase after Apollo finds something of interest with the use of its impressive nose, you slow to see a large group of Numel walking in unison. Deciding it best to film the events of the Pokémon, you remove the camera from around your neck and begin zooming in on the Numel, noticing a tinge of red in their eyes. From the comfort of your distance, you share a joke with Apollo as the Manectric rolls around laughing before slipping down the rock. Picking itself up from the laughter, Apollo rejoins you at the top of the hill before heading off to follow the pack. Finding the blue collar, your mind fills with questions.

Picking the collar up with two fingers, and with caution, you order Apollo to track the scent as the dog rushes off, heading into a cave. Following in hot pursuit and leading into a blind cave, you find Apollo has lost the scent at a fork in the road. Unable to keep yourself from laughing at how short the pursuit really was, you soon figure that with the amount of Numel travelling through, Numey’s scent must have got lost. Re-assuring Apollo that it was not entirely his fault, you chose the left path. Remembering that the caves get very dark lower down, you order a flash, a move which the electric-type precedes with, lighting a small spark on the tips of his fur to provide a faint light.

Leading your way down the cave, you soon find the passage to shrink in on you, leaving you walking while ducking, a problem that Apollo doesn’t have. With the dog often searching ahead and turning back to wait for you, your slow descent of the caves becomes mind-numbing and tedious, dodging rocks and obstacles in your way.

Within what seemed like half an hour, you finally feel the tunnel expand once more as you stand up to full height, cracking your back with pain as it gets used to the full stretch again. With your legs telling you to settle down for a rest and Apollo telling you to keep moving forward, you groan as you take a few steps before falling to your knees, your feet winning the argument with a persuasion technique full of pain. Pulling yourself from the ground, you sit with your back facing the wall.

Feeling around you, a sudden drop of water hits your head. Tilting it upwards, your face is once again met with the soothing feeling of water, only this time it hits you eye, causing you to close it before cleaning it with one hand. Figuring that where there’s water, there’s refreshing drinks, you put your hand against the wall as you lean adjacent to it, following the rock and water. As you feel a sudden nothing, you have enough time to look backwards to see that the cavern is pulling away from you. Without realizing it, you had gone ahead of where the flash was at its brightest and fell down a hole in the cavern.

Wincing at the thought, you find yourself speeding up through the debris as it feels somewhat soft and un-bumpy, as if smoothed by something. Following through the cracks of water, you see a large stream burst in through the banks as the rock explodes under the pressure, sending you down the tunnel with a large amount of water behind you. Looking back, you see Apollo just miss the explosion as you realize the dog has followed you down the tunnel.

Bump

Landing on a rough surface at the bottom, you feel the back of your head as it pulses with pain before another large sensation hits your legs. Staring upwards, you see that the ride has come to an end as you get deposited at the back drop of a cavern, the water following you as it splashes over you. With Apollo alongside you, your vision starts to go blurry as you hear a faint whimpering sound, followed by Apollo looking over you, snuggling down beside you as it shivers with fear, right before you black out.

***

Schlurp. Schlurp. Schlurp.

You awaken with a large slobbering sound and a wet feeling on your face. Opening your closed eyes, you look up to see the panting face of Apollo as it sees that you’re awake, licking your face once more with a large coat of saliva. Wiping it away with one hand, you find your other hand being nuzzled by Apollo as you stroke his head, regaining movement in your body. Straining to get up, you feel a large pain as you wince, getting back on your feet before staggering a little, also regaining your senses of perception.

Within a few minutes; you find yourself in a large cavern, warmth about the place as you look down to see sand, reaching down to touch it; feeling it to be rather hot. With no water present, you assume that it has evaporated with the heat. With no clue as to where you are in relation to the maze that is the volcanic caverns, you soon see another fork in the road. One is laden with scorch marks, the right path while the other has small round footprints, the left. With two ways to go and no way back, you’ve got a hard choice to take.

What will you do?

In the Sacred Forest, the stranger Daniel quickly sent out his Machoke and Toxicroak to team up with Ben’s Pineco and Krabby. Rather than sheathing his hunting knife, the mysterious man held it firmly in his hand, and Ben realized that Daniel was trying to provide himself with a backup plan should the Shadow Tauros get too close.

Turning to Ben, the stranger spoke, narrowing his eyes into slits as he concentrated on recalling events that had happened long ago. “You know I used to be just like you kid,” he remarked matter-of-factly. “It was a simple day when I came to the woods, me and Hannah had travelled far and wide and had decided to volunteer for a Pokémon missionary programme.

The story that Daniel related was deeply moving, and Ben allowed his gaze to wander from the raging bulls to the man he had meant only moments ago. It was obvious that the man had many things he wanted to get off his chest, and Ben listened intently to his tale.

“You see; Takanaka is a dictator and forced the people into submission.” Daniel explained, getting more emotional with each word. “We freed them, but it wasn’t enough.

Daniel broke down as he finished his story, and Ben couldn’t begin to imagine the conflicting emotions the man must have held bottled up inside for so long. The picture had become much clearer now, and Ben found himself feeling guilty once again at the part he played in the death of the mysterious man’s beloved Miltank, Hannah.

Snorting in unison, the Shadow Taurous pawed the ground impatiently, ready to attack. Ben assured Daniel that maybe it wasn't too late after all, and that he and his Pokemon team would do whatever it took to prevent the destruction of Khieve and the Sacred Forest. Nodding to his partners to begin, Ben vowed to himself that he would try to find a way to set things right again.

Forteo scattered a layer of Spikes around the battlefield, effectively keeping the Tauros at bay. Then taking advantage of their momentary hesitation, the little pinecone poisoned one of the shadow creatures with a nasty Toxic attack. Facing off with another of the Bull Pokemon, Keo tried a Leer to startle it, but the intimidating enemy countered with a Scary Face of its own, slowing down the river crab.

While Keo looked for an opportune time to strike with Vice Grip, Ben realized that Daniel still hadn’t given his Pokemon any commands. Suddenly the man cried out in a voice full of sorrow, “No! Hannah can’t be dead. She just can’t! Not after everything we’ve done. She’ll see it out to the very end. She must.”

Ben again tried to reassure Daniel that everything would be okay, but the man had apparently lost his concentration. The third Shadow Tauros tackled his Machoke and Toxicroak out of the way as easily as if they had been Poke Dolls, then used Take Down on their trainer, bringing the man crashing hard to the ground. Landing on his back, his flailing fingers unintentionally hit the trigger switch and returned his two Fighting Pokemon to their Pokeballs. Ben gulped as the quartet of shadowy creatures realized they had a distinct number advantage and advanced against him and his two tiny teammates.

Deep in concentration, Ben closed his eyes, thinking hard to come up with a strategy to stop the fearsome foursome. Opening his eyes, he bolted in shock to discover that a ring of fire had engulfed one of the Tauros. A rustling in the leaves of a nearby bush caught his attention and he turned to find a Houndoom and Sandslash charging to his defense. The devil dog let out a mighty Roar warning the Tauros not to come any closer.

However, the Shadowy, unpredictable nature of the Tauros suddenly kicked in, and the enraged bulls Rushed forward to strike. The next few minutes were lost in a flurry of teeth, claws, horns, and fangs, as Keo, Houndoom, and Sandslash each marked a Tauros and mixed it up. The two newcomers evened the odds, and Ben let out a grateful sigh that they must have come to his rescue because they realized all he had wanted to do was protect the Sacred Forest and its inhabitants.

Wasting no time, Ben called out his next set of instructions. “Brilliant work so far, mates!” he exclaimed, grinning as he praised his two diminutive companions. “But don't get cocky! Forteo, try to turn those Spikes scattered along the ground into tiny missiles! Rapid Spin them into the Tauros, but be careful not hit any of your teammates! Let the momentum of your Spin carry you in close to a Tauros, then follow up with a Bug Bite! Be ready to dodge at any time with Double Team!” The woody Pineco swayed merrily from side-to-side, signifying that he understood and Ben continued. “Keo, try to get back your speed by covering the field in a Haze, then try to blind another one of the Tauros with a Mud-slap. Be ready at any moment to Counter any physical attacks they might try!” Eager to fight again, Keo clacked his claws together noisily and scuttled back and forth. As his two comrades prepared to attack, the boy reminded them, "Houndoom and Sandslash are on our side! Work together with them and be ready to help out if they get into any kind of trouble!"

"A certainly less than optimal scenario. This guy knows how to play his cards just right, and sorry to say my team isn't as teched out as his." Glancing over at the conic trap of stone, Shadow knew quite well he was disadvantaged if one member of his team was effectively out of offensive commission -- not that Cleo was in any admittedly better state. Perhaps laying off the physical aspect for a while would help alleviate her muscles.

"Cleo, try for a double Dark Pulse pattern onto Mr. Mime." Raising his voice slightly, Shadow addressed his imprisoned Staryu. "If you can hear me, Hardcore, perform Harden procedures, then take your toughened body structure into a high-velocity Rapid Spin to break through the rock, taking the spin into an attack on Mr. Mime once Cleo has finished her assault."

Thank you for the quick updates!

As the pair moved along their intended course, the left branch of the cave, Rayne soon began regretting his decision (if only he knew what was waiting for him). The cave began to shrink in all dimensions, squeezing down on him. The only solution for him was to buckle over and keep moving forward in an intensely uncomfortable position. Of course, Apollo had no problem what so ever, having more than enough room to keep strolling along. Lactic acid started building up in sufficient concentrations in both his back and his thighs, making the trek even more excruciating. Worse of all, there was no way Rayne could even sit down and rest for a bit, seeing as the cave was too narrow. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place, with no option but to keep going.

And just when he though he could no longer keep going, the cave opened up and Rayne could stretch out again. His spine cracked in succession as bone after bone realigned into its correct position, the pain in his thighs spread to the rest of his body, and he had no option but to sit down and rest. Looking over at Apollo he could tell the mutt was ready to continue, as he was sniffing about trying to pick up that scent again. Rayne closed his eyes for a bit, resting against the solid wall of the cave, when a drop of water hit him on the head. Surprised, he looked up, only to have another ice cold drop plop right into his eye. That reminded him, that he could use a drink, so slowly he got up to his feet feeling around the wall to find where the moisture was coming from. The search led him farther down the tunnel, as he kept feeling blindly for a small stream of water ...

Then it all gave way. As he searched for the water he strayed too far from Apollo and the light he provided. Unlucky for him, he missed the gap in the cave, and now he was free falling down a steep hole. At the last second he looked back to notice Apollo sprinting down the tunnel to follow his trainer. Rayne picked up speed fast as he kept falling down the hole, dust and rocks clouded his vision, but he could make out Apollo's bright fur rocketing down the tunnel in chase. As scary and tense that moment was, it was only going to get worse as the rocks around him exploded as the water pressure finally won its battle with the rocks' strength. The water surged down the tunnel, swallowing Rayne and Apollo, accelerating their decent with scary force.

With a crash Rayne landed flat on his back (on surprisingly soft ground), whiplashing his head into the floor. His head felt light, his vision went blurry, he couldn't really move ... and he then began blacking out. The last thing he remembered was Apollo running up to him ... then black.

* * * * *

A warm, wet sensation on his face slowly brought him back to consciousness. As he opened his eye the blurred image of his Manectric licking his face greeted him. He still couldn't quite make it out, but the blue and yellow fur was good enough indication for him that he was safe ... for the time being. Slowly he sat up, the rush of blood out of his head, forced him back to the ground, to catch his breath once again. After composing himself a bit, Rayne finally sat up, much less disoriented, and vision returning to normal.

"Oh boy. My head is bumping. How are you Apollo?" Rayne asked. The Manectric wagged its tail, and barked, glad to see his trainer back. Rayne took that to mean Apollo was fine. "Well, uhm. Let's keep moving. Where are we anyway?" Rayne slowly scanned the area as he stood up, shaking at his knees. As he regained his ability to stand properly he noticed that they were in a much different environment than they began. They were obviously much deeper, that he could deduce by the large pressure difference, and the fact it was harder to breath down here. The ground was also different. Soft, volcanic sand made up the substrate as opposed to the igneous rock that made up the upper caverns. Kneeling down he felt the sand, which was quite warm, suggesting they were much closer to the active volcano. This was prime Numel habitat. Maybe that fall was beneficial after all.

With the detective work out of the way, the two continued in the only direction that seemed sensible. Another fork stopped them dead in their track.

"Damn it! Another one?" Rayne barked. But Apollo kept his composure, pointing to the scorch marks that lined the right path, before motioning to the foot prints on the left. More detective work for Rayne. The scorch marks could be indicative of the rogue Numel, but the footprints were tell tale round paw marks of those same Numel. After mulling it over a bit, Rayne decided that the scorch marks could be caused by any number of fire types (which more than peaked his interest to see just who caused those), but in the end he decided to go with the more obvious evidence; following the Numel, that was his mission.

"As much as I want to see what caused that sort of damage," He told Apollo, pointing to the charred rock. "I think we should go down the left path, and follow the Numel." Apollo agreed, and started marching down the left path, his electrified fur creating an eerie luminescence in the deep tunnel. Hopefully they were getting closer.

@DarkFire – No problem, thanks for replying so fast as well.

The Sacred Forest: - Please reply in Green

Hayward: The adventure had indeed been a strange one, and it seemed to continue with the lack of one two of your comrades from Daniel’s team. With him being so brutally knocked out, the lack of movement from him in the entire time seemed to deem the crazed human to be either knocked unconscious so hard he may need hospitalizing or he was in fact dead. Shuddering at the last thought, you move on to saving your own skin and ridding the forest of the Shadow Tauros.

As the four Shadow Tauros stamp on the floor with impatient hooves, you see a cloud of dust encompass the four Tauros as a game-plan of stealth seems to shroud your own doubts, how the younglings knew about battling, let alone the battling elements aside from rushing in was beyond you, but nevertheless the four Tauros need to be stopped. With an ‘actions now, questions later’ attitude about you shouts orders to your squad as they acknowledge the orders before turning to see four large purple balls begin to fly through the smoke and clatter into the entire team, a Shadow Blast attack being the cause of the discharge of energy.

Recuperating from the hard shot, Pineco spins round as fast as he can, shooting towards the previous laid spikes with precision as it avoids its own spikes before Rapid Spinning them towards the Tauros. As one seems to snort, it moves forward and blocks the spikes from hitting the entire squad, rather sacrificing itself as an individual as it takes the brunt of the spikes, sticking in the side of the Shadow-type as it shakes its head in dissent. As the spin comes to a close, Pineco uses the remaining g-force to get closer to the said Shadow Tauros before biting it on the leg, oozing its Bug Bite poison into the feral beast as its neighs in pain before thrashing with a Tail whip at the Pineco, the two tails doing some good damage.

With Keo still waiting for his favourable moment to strike with a Counter the Tauros seem to register the glint and calls upon a darkened cloud that appears above their heads before several shadow thunderbolts strike from a Shadow Storm on all the Pokémon on your side. With that over, the Pineco delivers a Double Team to scare off the Shadow Tauros as it reveals more clones, two of them in fact while Keo lays down a special form of protection in a Haze to add to the still ravenous dust storm brought up by the simultaneous beating of hooves. With the land being so dry and dusty, Keo decides not to use its mud-slap move as it would prove to be ineffective. Glancing to the left you see a burst of fire paw through the dust as Houndoom uses its hearing to fire a flamethrower while Sandshrew dissipates the dust around it with a swords dance.

What will you do?

Shadowshocker: Volleying out some more orders in an attempt to recuperate the advantage over your impressive comrade, you shout down some orders as Cleo nods in approval as your mind wanders into the question if Hardcore could hear you. Moving off first, Cleo takes its rest of alienating its special side of things a rip-roaring Dark Pulse is sent flying at the Mr. Mime who has no time to react. As the attack connects, the opposite trainer appears to be flabbergasted as his Psychic comrade takes the brunt of the super effective force but also seems to have flinched at the mass amount of dark energy.

With Mr. Mime out of the picture for the second, the Nosepass walks over to another rock before picking it up with impressive strength. Holding it one solemn hand, the mighty Rock bears down on the previous tomb encasing Hardcore as the Nosepass Throws the boulder, smashing it into the sepulchre as tiny rocks explode from the scene, sending a barrage of rock-hail down on the battlers. As a smile comes to Jak’s face and yours bears that of worry, the order is soon switched as Hardcore uses its Hardened exterior to smash through the tomb with a Rapid Spin, before carrying on with the attack to hit the Mr. Mime. With that out of the way, Cleo once more attempts to Dark Pulse the psychic-type before it puts up a Protective barrier.

As the round comes to an end, all parties seem to be wearing out whether it is through health or energy. As Jak calls his next moves, the Mr. Mime seems to be trying something confusing while the Nosepass seems to be rooting around for some mud.

What will you do?

Dark Fire: Waking in a world of maze and unfamiliarity, you see the welcome sights of Manectric before a large pain of banging pounds in your head. Taking a small break to restore the self agonising tenderness of your cranium, you settle down before locate yourself around the cavern room. Hoping to position yourself in the cavern via your bleeping Pokédex, your face turns into dismay as you realize that the Pokédex can hold no further information, the previous Pokédex tracking unable to locate you means you must be far below the normal caverns in a place no longer discovered.

The next surprise hits you as you finally stand to your feet, the blood rushing to your head to create a woozy sensation as your bones click into place once more, a vigorous pain once again shooting up your spine. In an already painful adventure and in such a short space of time, you figure that the path must have been caused by the footsteps of the Numel but the fire left your imagination soaring, wondering what could have caused the streams of fire to negotiate the fierce walls.

Taking your path through the fork, you stumble into another room from the cavern, this time a large open room with a large golden bowl which is full of fire. As your mind begins to wonder who, or what, could have attained the mystics down here where nobody else has stumbled you see lots of ancient drawings on the wall, unmistakably a large mosaic of pictures in which you couldn’t understand what, a large tortoise-like creature large in stature as many sticks seem to envelop round it. Having no idea what it was, your eyes are drawn to a small door-way system where a large rock seems to be in place of the exit. Looking around you see the words embrazzled on the head of the rock:

“4 litres is your goal,
To move the giant rocky ball,
Two measuring symbols help you so,
5 and 3 litres to help you go."

Looking down at your right, you see two golden bowls and a large stream of water dropping from the side of the rock-face to the floor before being taken away in an ancient rock draining system. With the large bowl apparently representing 5 litres and the small bowl representing 3, it seems you have to find a way to get a four litres and place it on a stand on the left of you.

What will you do?

With one last look at the charred path to the right, Rayne followed his Manectric down the left path, his head still day dreaming about powerful fire pokemon duking it out, destroying everything in their path. As pleasant as the thought of battling these monsters was, Rayne forced himself to pay heed to his footing. The last thing he wanted now was to end up in another chute leading deeper into the earth, ever closer to the hot magma that gave this place rise. Snapping back to attention he spotted Apollo farther up the tunnel; he had fallen back apparently. Shaking his head a bit, upset at himself for making several newbie errors so far, he caught up to Apollo, not wanting to get caught outside the radius of Apollo’s light.

“This has been fun, wouldn’t you say?” Rayne asked, semi-sarcastically. Apollo shot a glare at Rayne, clearly angry with their current predicament. “Take it is there bud. We’ll be fine. Just think of it as a good bonding activity.” In response to this comment, Apollo simply shut of his flash attack.

“You’re such a jerk! Would it kill to show some enthusiasm …” Rayne did not finish his sentence because the darkness that enveloped them revealed a light at the end of the tunnel. It was very dim, but unmistakeably there. It was a faint orange light, like the kind produced by an oil fuelled flame, and it was just around the corner. Lightly he tapped Apollo on the shoulder, and motioned for him to be quiet. Slowly they crept up on the light, and just as he was bracing himself to come face to face with an enraged Numel (or the pokemon from his daydream), the light source was exposed to be …

A large golden bowl with a mystic flame. Taken aback he scanned the room quickly for any other intruders and obstacles, only to find it empty. Carefully he moved closer to the golden bowl to investigate. Even upon closer inspection the mysterious flame remained a mystery; it seemed to burn without any fuel to be seen. Rayne wondered who could have created this flame, and more importantly how no one ever discovered this. Looking around he noticed strange paintings all over the chamber’s walls. It was unreal, Rayne had stumbled onto some ancient civilization ground; grounds which had avoided the discovery of men for a long time. Astounded Rayne pulled out his own camera and started taking footage of the flame, working his way around the room making sure to get as much of the mural as he could. He decided not to use Paddy’s camera because he figured it was not pertinent to his mission. Instead he was filming this for his own memory.

As he made his way around the chamber the camera focused on a particular image. It appeared much like a large tortoise, with sticks coming together towards it. If he had to interpret it, he would have guessed that it was a bunch of spears pointing at this hard to make out creature; as if it was prey. Having no way to be sure, he kept surveying the large chamber, when his eyes landed on a rock which seemed to block the exit. Slowly he made his way to it, putting his camera back into his bag. To the right a small stream of water rolled down the chamber wall, emptying into an ancient gutter. Alongside the stream he spotted two jugs of different size. Confused, he inspected the rock more closely and noticed the riddle etched at the top.

“4 litres is your goal,
To move the giant rocky ball,
Two measuring symbols help you so,
5 and 3 litres to help you go.”

“Oh I get it. The small one must be three litres, and the large one is five litres. It’s a riddle. Ha, this civilization is not as primitive as I originally thought. Although … this riddle isn’t too bad.” Rayne laughed, waving over Apollo. The canine ran up from the nook he was investigating. Rayne grabbed the large jug, and filled it completely to the brim. Thus five litres in the large jug, none in the three litre. He then filled the three litre jug using the water from the five litre jug, without spilling any excess from the five litre; that left two litres in the large jug, and three in the small one. Next he completely dumped out the small jug’s contents, and transferred the two litres from the large jug into the smaller one. So there is now two litres in the small jug and none in the large one. Finally he completely filled the five litre jug again, and transferred one more litre from the large jug into the small one, seeing as that’s all the small one could house. This left exactly four litres in the large jug.

Satisfied he dumped the contents of the small jug into the drain, and plopped the large jug onto the stand to his left. Rayne knew he had the riddle right, now he waited patiently for something to happen.

"That last move... should have been quite draining for Mr. Mime. He's probably not risking Nosepass' confusion, so we should be expecting a Confuse Ray sighting. On the other hand a drop in accuracy would be trouble as well; this guy's got enough stealth to match what he says, that being too much." Much as he preferred not to separate efforts there wasn't much choice in this scenario, he frowningly reasoned.

"Cleo, stun Mr. Mime with another Dark Pulse to its face. Hardcore, while Nosepass roots about blast its lifted leg with Water Gun and trip it up. Following up, Cleo, strike Mr. Mime in Faint Attack and Hardcore, a second Water Gun to Nosepass' eyes."

In the Volcanic Mountain Region’s Sacred Forest, the four shadow Tauros simultaneously began stamping the ground with their hooves, kicking up a huge cloud of dust, covering the battlefield and temporarily concealing the sinister bulls. Shielding his grey-green eyes from the tiny particles, Ben momentarily turned aside, coughing and wheezing violently. Ben knew it would be difficult to locate the Tauros in the midst of all the dust in the air, and suddenly bolted with shock as he realized the shadowy creatures must have planned all along to use the dusty cloud for cover in the battle. With another cough, Ben marveled that the young, untrained Pokemon had come up with such an advanced strategy on their own.

Shrugging to himself, Ben supposed that the shadow Tauros’s battle prowess must have been inborn or instinct. In his travels both in FB and before his arrival, the boy had seen firsthand that many trainers bred Pokemon simply to be fighting machines, showing complete disregard for their individual personalities and feelings. It was no surprise that these Tauros, basically a biological weapon created to destroy, should be any different. Ben suddenly felt sorry for the Shadow Tauros. He knew it wasn't their fault they were attacking. It was Chief Takanaka's, a grown man who should have known better. Ben knew it wouldn't be easy to stop the shadow creatures from destroying the forest, but if he wanted to stop the tribal warlord, he had try. Quickly he issued his instructions and sent his Pokemon forward to battle. Just as they were about to spring into action though, four violet orbs of shadowy energy suddenly blasted from the dusty fog and slammed violently into Keo, Forteo, Houndoom, and Sandslash.

Ben watched expectantly as his comrades and their wild Poke-brethren recovered from the suprise attack and fearlessly faced off against the quartet of Shadow Tauros. As Forteo and Keo coordinated their assaults with Houndoom and Sandslash to fend off the Bull Pokemon’s attacks, Ben let out a cheer and continued to shout support and encouragement. Both of Ben’s little partners were breathing heavy with the exertion. Despite being at a size disadvantage they had given a good account of themselves so far against four much larger opponents. A sense of pride rose within Ben as he watched the aggressive river crab and eccentric pinecone doing all they could to stop the shadowy creatures.

Meanwhile, the mysterious stranger Daniel had not moved a single muscle throughout the whole ordeal and Ben shuddered at the thought that the man might have been seriously injured or even worse. It was true that he and the man had initially gotten off on the wrong foot, but still Ben couldn’t help but feel sorry for him and all he had been through. Eyes closed, Ben silently vowed to himself that not only would he do his best to prevent the Shadow Tauros from destroying the forest, he would also see to it that the man got some medical attention at the first possible moment. For now though, Ben knew his first priority was the battle. He dragged a hand through his short, brown hair, and thought hard to come up with a plan. Turning his attention to the dry, dust-covered field in front of him, he quickly issued instructions to his team.

“Forteo, see if you can do something about all the dust in the air!” he exclaimed. “Try to Rapid Spin it away! But just to be on the safe side, follow up with Swift - it should be sure to find the Tauros if there is any kind of cloud cover! Be ready to defend at any moment with Reflect if any of the Tauros try a physical attack!” The Pineco Forteo swayed giddily from side-to-side, signaling that he understood his instructions.

Ben quickly turned to Keo and continued. “Alright, mate! Go underground with Dig! The dust cloud won’t bother your vision in a tunnel! Look sharp while you're down below - if you feel the ground beginning to tremble, just Protect yourself and get out of there, because it might mean that a Tauros is about to create an Earthquake! Once you’re back above ground, Swords Dance and hit the nearest Tauros with Crabhammer!” Clacking his pincers together in a noisy show of aggression, the Krabby Keo readied himself to attack.

His commands issued, all Ben could do was look on in anticipation, wondering what Houndoom and Sandslash might do, and hoping that it wasn’t too late to stop the Tauros…

Hey guys, apologies for the wait. I’ll try and cut it down some and update quicker in the coming weeks but if you don’t already know, December and well, any time until February is a real bitch down here at National Rail. As you know, the world’s gone mad and so a little bit of cold means there’s a 90% chance that the train will come off the track. And the snow is a massive punch in the gonads. Anyway, enough with that, just bear in mind that these next few months might take me longer to update.

Volcano Research Institute: - Please reply in DarkRed

Dark Fire: With a not-very happy Manectric accompanying you along the way, you find yourself joking with the electric type only for it to turn of the flash. Realizing that you really need the light else you’ll end up in another predicament in the volcanic caverns, you shout at Manectric before spotting a light. Creeping up to it with silence strapped across your lips, you become suddenly surprised to see a golden bowl with a mystic flame across it.

Clicking pictures with your own camera to record the discovery of the ancient mechanism, your eyes turn to the riddle inscribed on the wall. Figuring out the riddle in a matter of seconds, the picture of the tortoise doesn’t perturb you as you fill the jars out to a correct amount and place it back on the golden stand.

With the amount being registered by the ancient styled weighing machine, a large gong sounds as the ground begins to rumble. Struggling to keep your balance, you find yourself crouched on the floor, using your hands to balance yourself. With Manectric having the same problem like a dog in a car, the shaking stops. Finding your way back to your feet, you look ahead to see the boulder moving, the shaking in the ground stopping yet the boulder seems to be moving without any hindrance. Ignoring it, you notice a large tunnel down with a small light at the end. Slowly investigating, you spot more drawings on the wall, one sticking out before more of the rest, the same tortoise with a flame coming from its mouth with stick people falling around it.

Wanting to investigate the story more, you become interrupted by a large sound. Examining the sound, the tunnel leads you to a barred end which overlooks a giant room. Clasping the bars with a tight grip, a sight of the red-eyed numels come back to you, only this time the mass of numel seem to be standing still, as if hypnotised. On the opposite side, a large cavern jail system gives the impression that whatever is behind it has been released.

As another room boulder opens, one man covered in a red aura walks out with a smile on his face. Behind him, an army of slugma follow him, also covered in an aura as the man smirks.

“I HAVE RETURNED!” he chuckles before looking around for something, “And whoever did it, I thank. So come forth, tell me who you are” he continues.

Suddenly realizing that it could have been you who let this man free, you realize that the water system was actually an ancient civilization trapping something inside the volcanic caverns. Without a shadow of a doubt, whatever it is makes you shudder a little, deciding not to own up to the deed, the man smirks once more.

“Oh, so if you’re not proud of releasing me, you must be one of them. Come to kill me then.” He laughs “You must be a protector, so if you’re not going to own up, I’ll kill these.”

Clicking his fingers, another large boulder opens to reveal more of the Numel. A sickening smile widens around his face as he clicks his fingers again as the Slugma’s eyes glow a fluorescent blue for a second before they begin to Flamethrower the Numel. As the fire types do, the Numel don’t attempt to fight back, but the screams of pain are apparent. Looking around, you see the tunnel takes you down to an exit, one that presumably leads you to the room.

What will you do?

Shadowshocker: As you call another record of orders to your partners, you see Jak smiling back at you. Ignoring him for the moment, you’re sure that he’ll reveal his information when he sees the time is right, as per usual with his tactic that continued from the entire battle. Figuring that a confuse ray and mud slap is coming, Hardcore and Cleo nod as they receive the orders, recognising the threat.

With the Mr. Mime getting very tired and having little health, you decide to try again to KO it. Starting first, Mr. Mime digs deep inside itself, panting hard as a confuse ray produces from the psychic-type’s head. As the wave of light seems to dip and damper across the field, Cleo wants none of it and decides to blast it right back, releasing a Dark Pulse that incinerates the ray and slams home the super effective attack sending Mr. Mime down to one knee. Distracted by the cry of the Mr. Mime aside him, Nosepass stands up before looking directly at Hardcore with a new resolve, a passion for speed. Grabbing a large rock from under its feet, Nosepass growls as it performs a hulk by raising it above its head ready for the Rock Throw but Hardcore is prepared, launching a Water Gun at its feet. Standing strong with its bulky legs, it then lobs the rock as it slams into the shell of Staryu, knocking it over with a sickening crunch.

Unopposed to the down-time of its team mate, Cleo carries on with the task ahead by feigning an injury of serious matter, sitting down as if it was Christiano Ronaldo and huffing a puffing, clutching its leg as Mr. Mime takes a breather while checking it out. As Mr. Mime is distracted, Cleo hits the psychic with another super effective Faint Attack. Glancing behind it in a ninja-style movie pose Cleo smirks as Mr. Mime wobbles a bit before falling flat on its face. Level up for Cleo. As a disappointed look comes from Jak, your opposite trainer, he withdraws both Pokéballs before withdrawing them both in a suction of red light.

“I know when I’ve been beaten, as a wise man once told me, ‘Always know what your limitations are, if you don’t, then you’re only beating on yourself’.” Jak continues “I’ve learnt that lesson now and realize that my grandfather will always be proud of me no matter what I do in life. Thanks mister.”

As the Pokémon disappear, aplomb of applause bursts to your ears as the mechanics lower under you to take you back to the ground. Leaving your way to the holding room, you sit and relax as you watch some of the other matches on the screen.

***

“Did you see me?” A voice jolts you as you sit upright, remembering that you had fallen asleep during some of the games, there being only one battling stadium forcing the matches to be one after another. Stuttering, you recognize Jimmy immediately as you apologise for not seeing his battle, the high hopes were sure about his tone of voice. “Ah well, no matter. I suppose you’ve had a hard day. Well unfortunately it’s time for another battle, the matches have already been chosen and you’re up”

The boy nods as he excitedly escorts you to the edge of the stadium again, back to the podiums where it seemed like just five minutes ago you were back. As you step onto the platform, the mechanical machines whir into life as you’re sent upwards high into the air. As the commentator is drowned out by the excitable crowd going ballistic at your re-entrance, you’re shocked to see a familiar face staring at you with a smile, warm in nature.

“Alright mate, it’s your move” he says as your mind tells you that it in fact Jimmy who is your opponent. Seems it’s your turn to move first.

What will you do?

Hayward: Indifferenced by the unison shadow Tauros’ tactic of stomping on the ground to create a dust shield, you call out your orders to your companions while dust settled from the air and into your lungs. Spitting and spetting, you find yourself hacking a lung as your companions get to work, a slightly look back in appraisal and to make sure you’re ok. Sticking a reassuring but fake thumbs up, you make sure they deal with the Tauros before the problem gets worse.

First to try and shift the dried dust, Forteo tries to Rapid Spin, hoping to use the momentum of the actions to shift the dust, but to no avail. Not only does the rapid spin not to a lot but clear the Tauros register the move before starting ramming their hooves against the floor registering more dust and throwing it into the air. Under your command, Keo follows by digging into the hardened soil, the extra effort going into the claws hitting the heated soil from the sacred forest.

As the crab digs below ground level into the hotter region of the sacred forest, Forteo is left alone on the surface accompanied by you, yelling the order of a swift. As Forteo sprays the stars around the battlefield as the minor stars explode on contact, dealing very little damage as the Tauros feel it as if it was just a slap. Snorting, Tauros begin to stamp move vigorously as the Earthquake slams into the ground. As your thought go to your Pokémon underground, Keo emerges with a large Protect above him, drained of energy.

As Keo pants, it Swords Dances to boost its powers, happy in the knowledge it’s behind enemy lines without the Tauros noticing it. With no signs of a psyichal attack coming, Forteo lets his guard down for a mere second before a large stomping is heard and two Rock Tombs entrap the bug-type, leaving an extra fortified prisom for it to get out of. Hearing the signs of battling either side of you, you can’t see through the impenetrable dust shield and decide to focus back on your own Pokémon.

What will you do?

No need to apologize, mate. RL always comes first. Thanks again for the updates.

Ben’s grey-green eyes narrowed to slits as he watched the events of battle unfold before him. Things hadn't gone well, and the boy knew he had to stop the Shadow Tauros soon, before they gained any momentum. Forteo’s attempt to spin away the dust cloud had failed and Keo had expended a lot of energy defending himself from the underground tremor. Ben let out a grateful sigh that at least the river crab had succeeded in getting behind the tainted bulls They now had their opponents surrounded, and he hoped that would prove to be a slight advantage.

Dragging a hand through his short brown hair, Ben thought hard to come up with a plan. Though he couldn’t see them, Ben knew that Houndoom and Sandslash were nearby, locked in combat with two of the Shadow Tauros, fighting alongside him and his team. They had come to his rescue earlier, but he wasn’t sure he could count on them to do it again. He realized it was up to him, Keo, and Forteo to handle the other two Bull Pokemon. However, with the dust cloud still hanging thick in the air, the boy knew it wasn’t going to be an easy task.

Putting on a determined expression, Ben resolved to do his best and quickly hollered instructions to his companions. “Alright, look sharp, mates! We’ve got them surrounded, let’s try to use that to our advantage! Keo, use Double Team to distract them. Once they’re confused, go with a Crabhammer-X-Scissor combo! Forteo, use your Toxic to dissolve that Rock Tomb! Once you get free, use their own dust cloud for cover! Surprise them with a Bug Bite and Return when they’re not expecting it!”

Having delivered his battle directions, all Ben could do was hold his breath and wait to see how things would play out…

"Had it been so long since we fought I couldn't stay awake after a single matchup? In any case, falling asleep was a bad idea. Jimmy knows what I'm packing and that's half the match in his favour. If they're all like Jak..." Temporarily, Shadow reflected on the previous battle. "The kid had a good head atop his shoulders. If not for his judgement he might have quite cleanly clinched the victory... still, that's no longer a priority. I can't use the operatives I used last; it'd be too obvious. In that case --" Hands grasping a mauve ball and a patched brown orb, Shadow wordlessly flung them onto the field.

"IIIIIIT'S ON LIKE MANKEY KONG!" Scherza screamed as she appeared, drawing an eyebrow from her Trainer. True, it was the Chatot's first proper participation in journeying, but where had she learnt to say that?

"How troublesome." A shudder passed Shadow's shoulders as Daphne's voice appeared in his head via their shared psychic frequency. Her expression unreadable as ever, she nevertheless grinned at Jimmy, waving a hand in the 'come hither' manoeuvre. Boy, he really knew how to pick them, didn't he, Shadow mentally muttered to himself.

Handymankg2: Keeping a close eye as Cacturne trumps Croagunk in everything it does, you interpret the come hither sign as what it was meant to be, a face to face talking to. As the cloaked man reveals no indication of emotion, you begin to walk alongside Sirious keeping a watchful eye on the dark-typed Pokémon. Noticing it relaxing, you decide that it is indeed, very well trained and even going to the point where tricks are to be ordered by the experienced looking cloaked man. As you step over the failed attacking on the floor, you begin to get a clearer picture of the man’s face as you draw ever nearer; a wrinkled mouth protruding a devious smile as even more aging lines extend outwards to his upper cheeks. Trying to see his eyes, you fail as the cloak covers it completely before you reluctantly wonder how the man was able to see the battle. Shooting your compares some glances, you see the sudden realization strike them as their eyes grow wearing and wide.

“NO! Don’t!” Bruce shouts as he extends an arm in your direction, as if you were under a spell but you merely shake off his hand and stop, convinced that a meeting would be the best solution. Stroking your chin, you decide to heed the words of your friends and head back as Croagunk begins to look happier, the indication of more battling an obvious choice for the anxious disobeyer. As you turn on your heels, you feel a sudden rush of wind before one foot has even made it back in time to meet with the rather sticky rubbled flooring. Looking up, you see Prinplup holding Bruce in a lock with a Metal Claw held up to his neck. The same sight greets you on the other side, however, this time it being with Peter, the Beedrill’s insatiableTwin Needled spikes protruding out towards Peters temple. As he shakes his head slowly, he moves his eyes back to where you were standing before moving, as if signaling for you to run. With milliseconds turning into seconds of inductions and thought out processed, you turn to face the cloaked man whom you find still hasn’t moved.

“Can we, please. Let’s be done with this” the fat man chuckled with an evil tone, sending a shiver down your spine as the words echo through the destroyed building. Looking as though pleading to the cloaked figure, his look soon changes to redemption, as if wrong for questioning … well, whatever it is he was questioning.

“No.” the cloaked figure says firmly, taking a direct stance as he hushes his voice, still loud enough for you to catch. “The prophecy, it must be fulfilled. This world is doomed otherwise”.

As a revelation hits you, you turn round to see the Prinplup and Beedrill with weapons attached to the ones you thought of friends. As indecision runs through your heart you look directly at the assaulting trio. “What prophecy” you ask while shouting, hoping to sound firmer while your inside burns with nervousness.

“Hmmmm?” the cloaked man says, turning his attention to you as realized you overheard him. “There is a folk tale among these parts that a young trainer will rebel against the war and set both parties free. Should this prophecy fail, however, the world is doomed to end” he recites, as if taught to him by his mother.

“You child. You are the one destined to free us from them” the bulky man spat “We are not bad people, but good people changed round. Those are the ones whom are bad, they trapped us here, fighting us forever until a gross miscalculation occurred. We were swapped and suddenly hated. Please. Free us from this solitude” the man begged, a break in his voice strung towards the end.

“NOOOOOOOOOOO! LIES AND DECIETS FROM THE COWARDS OF VILLAINY. LISTEN TO ME BOY” Bruce hisses before clasping a hand over his mouth. “You must.” With the random outburst drawing your attention, Beedrill pushes him back against the wall with a solitude stinger. As your heart pounds a solemn tune of a fast pace, you begin to flit between the two, deciding who is real and who is false. Chances are one is telling the truth while the others lie;

What will you do?
As Rick got closer to the man, he was able to see his face much more clearly, if you would consider this clearly at all. Although the smile of the man was evident, and the wrinkle lines on his face also showing, the mans eyes were completely covered by his cloak. Uncertainty flooded through Ricks mind as he looked at him. Surely a man wouldn’t hide himself in any way, unless he truly did have something to hide? Why on earth would he want to cover up his eyes, as not only would it surely impair his site, but also make him seem more mysterious. Perhaps that was what he was going for, though, as mystery is often an intimidating statement against those who you are fighting. Glancing across at Rick’s comrades, he noticed the shock slowly forming on their faces as they watched Rick. The small Croagunk standing beside Rick also noticed their expressions, but saw no reason to be upset by them. He simply let out a low croak and returned his gaze to the man that stood in front of them, as well as the Cacturne. Sirius wasn’t exactly keen on the Pokemon after what it had done to him a short period earlier, and would make his dislike known. At least, Rick believed he was making his dislike known, as staring seemed to signify that. He still didn’t quite understand Croagunk yet, though, so it could mean respect, jealousy, or a variety of different things. With no way to translate Croagunks speech, he would just have to do guesswork. Bruce cried out in defiance to Rick standing so close to the man, extending an arm in Ricks direction as if that would immediately make Rick change his mind from what was really a clear decision. Ricks mind was solid, though, and he shook off Bruces hand, but then again, perhaps he was right. They had shown Rick only kindness thus far, and they at least provided him with some support. He turned around after thinking it over for a second, and Croagunk seemed to look more happy, although it was honestly difficult to tell. The toad was just bizarre in its ways, and Rick reckoned that it would probably be the most difficult Pokemon he would have to ever train. Then again, he could just have been exaggerating in his mind. He doubted this very much so, though. But before Rick could even turn properly, a sudden rush of wind zoomed past. Glancing upwards, he noticed that Prinplup had seen an opportunity to strike, locking Bruce in place with a Metal Claw. On the other site of Rick, much the same was going on, Beedrill having locked Peter in place by pointing to his temple. Peter slowly shook his head, and moved his eyes to where Rick was standing before he moved, as if indicating that Rick should run. His mind quickly thought through, but there wasn’t enough time, and as he turned back to the man he saw that he had in fact not moved at all.

The fat man chuckled with an evil tone, saying that they should get it over and done with quickly. The way in which he laughed made shivers go down Ricks spine, the voice echoing through the ruined building due to the large amount of emptiness that now existed. Looking towards the man with the cloak, he looked as if he was pleading, but his face soon turned to one of redemption, probably realizing he was out of turn for questioning. The cloaked figure denied him of what he was asking, though, taking a direct stance as he slowly became quiet, loud enough for Rick to pick up though. He spoke of some form of prophecy, saying it must be fulfilled or the world would end otherwise. It certainly was an interesting theory, Rick never having heard anything about a prophecy that seemed to be including him. Being included in a prophecy was never good, as old television shows and movies would tell you. Generally, it meant you had a lot of pressure on your shoulders, and Rick was unsure whether he would want to commit to that or not. No other choice was present, though. He would still question them, though, and turning around Rick quickly noted that they hadn’t let up. “What Prophecy?” he asked, wondering aloud and hoping for a answer he could understand. The cloaked man turned to Rick, Rick being able to hear his movement from behind, and Rick turned to meet his…gaze? He explained the prophecy, which just confused him slightly. A war? And who said that he would be this young trainer to free them? There are a lot of young trainers in the world, that was certain. End of the World? And interesting and unlikely prospect. Supposedly, Rick would be the one destined to free them, but what the man said by ‘us from them’ Rick didn’t quite get, as he was holding them at weapon point. They said they weren’t bad people, yet they were the ones who were attacking them. Children. It seemed rather unlikely indeed. He seemed to be begging, but acting is easy.

And then, with a large cry from Bruces mouth, his opinion seemed to change slightly. His outburst was rather unsettling, and the use of the word ‘boy’ seemed to make Rick think. They were the same age, were they not? Rick decided to reply to the best of his understanding. “I’m not sure what to think, but I know neither sides are as innocent as they try to lead me to think. I’ll go with you guys-” he stated to the cloaked figure “but I’ll need more explaining.” And with a loud croak, Croagunk confirmed his decision.

Rayne watched in horror as the red aura man forced several Slugma to literally roast the Numel. As horrified as he was of watching this behaviour, he wasn’t entirely sure he could help. For one thing, this man was glowing red, and that was enough to raise a warning flag for Rayne to stay away. Also, he wasn’t sure he could match up against the large number of opponents. On the other hand, he couldn’t just sit back and watch the innocent Numel burned to death.

Was it really him that freed this demon of a man? Certainly seemed so, those pictures on the wall were most probably a warning system, but Rayne blew them off as primitive paintings. Why would this civilization make the locking mechanism so easy to open he wondered. Apollo nudged him slightly, reminding him that he should pick a course of action. Rayne nodded slightly, bit his lip nervously, and started down the tunnel that lead down to the large room. He didn’t know what he was going to do just yet, but he knew he had to help the Numel out; worst case scenario he would need to fight, that he was not afraid of … he had an experienced squad which has gotten him through many tight situations in the past. For the time being he would start out passively.

“Stop,” Rayne called out calmly but confidently, as he walked down the tunnel. “I set you free. I’m no protector, but I won’t let you harm those Numel needlessly. You hear?” He finished, finally stepping into the large room, fixing his gaze onto the red man. It was the man’s move now, Rayne was ready with Apollo by his side; his fur sparking in anticipation. Rayne’s brushed his hair back, revealing his determined eyes, sparkling a deep orange with the reflection of the fire. The fire he was hoping to put out.

Well now that I’ve got my laptop back I can finally get back to updating. Apologies for the wait and I hope it doesn’t happen again.

The Sacred Forest: - Please reply in Green

Hayward: Thinking of a new plan on how to deal with the threat before your very eyes, the Tauros begin to settle a little as the dust begins to die down, leaving the figures of the two shadow Tauros very sturdily stood. Firmly shouting your orders to your comrades and hoping it would get to them, Keo is the first to respond by creating a team of identical doubles, surrounding the backs of the Tauros with two other Keos to combine together to make three. This, you hoped, would distract the Tauros enough for Forteo to escape the prison it had found its way into. This though didn’t go to plan as you see the Tauros not move an inch, mainly because their backs are facing Keo and because of the smoke guard, have no idea that the Kingler is behind them.

Face-palming at the mistake as Keo looks belligerently at the shadow Tauros’ backs , you see Forteo take the mark to escape from its prison as a sizzling sound ensues, the Toxic being spat out from the inside by Forteo burning away the stone to reveal a gap in the stone, just about enough for Forteo to escape out of. Slowly bouncing out, being wary of the toxic himself, Forteo looks backwards at his hard work with a slight grin on his face only to turn round, the look replaced with horror as it saw two shadow Tauros bearing down on him. With almost literally bulging cartoon eyes, Forteo can only watch as one of the Tauros lowers its horns and finishes off the run to Take Down the bug-type into the stones, doing some considerate damage to Forteo and some recoil to Tauros.

Capitalizing, Keo decides to scrap the clones and attack the Tauros left alone from behind, first covering its claw in water before briwnging it down on the unsuspecting body of the Tauros, the crabhammer attack dealing solid physical damage as the shockwave of water pulsates over Tauros, the shock sending it to the ground. Following quickly, Keo then charges both claws with bug energy before slashing it along the chest of the Tauros, leaving an X mark along the felled Tauros before it started to bleed, the crimson blood dripping slowly from the Tauros’ chest. This however doesn’t stop it standing before mooing angrily before getting up close to Keo with a dark aura before using a payback to deal double the damage of the boosted x-scissor and sending Keo flying back to your side of the battlefield as the crab Pokémon stands up, just.

While your worries go out to Keo who struggles with itself to stand up properly after receiving such a large hit, your attention is turned to Forteo who bites into the neck of the Tauros, the bug bite causing it to stand up on its rears with pain before brining one hoof down with a stomp to the head of Forteo, stunning it out of the return. With your two Pokémon looking rather beaten and the Tauros also looking beaten, but less-so than yours, you’ll really have to up the ante if you want to protect the forest.

What will you do?

Winter Village: - Please reply in LightBlue

Shadowshocker: Wondering how on earth you had fallen asleep after just one battle, you begin to stretch and get ready for your next competition, leaving you at the platform once more against Jimmy, you begin a routine in Pokémon battling that is a hard choice to make for any trainer; what Pokémon to use. Deciding upon two, you release Chatot, who instantaneously repeats a phrase that makes you wonder where the bird could have possibly got the wording from, being its first ever adventure. Shrugging it off, you hear the telepathic voice of Daphne as the ‘come hither sign’ is issued.

Grinning from ear to ear, you see Jimmy grasp two white pokéballs of the snow variety before throwing them up in the air, a Snorunt and Smoochum appearing before you.

“You know, my brother gives me all his unwanted winnings. He gets all kin d of stuff but never wants any of it. I often wonder why he doesn’t just leave, these two snowballs are his” Jimmy reminisces as he looks down fondly on the pokéballs he has in his hand. “Alright, you two, start with a combined Ice Beam and then split up to a Powder Snow and Sweet Kiss and end with a double hail. Seems Jimmy is eager to get battling and has ordered first,

What will you do?

The Lost city of Itonou: - Please reply in Red

Handymankg2: Turning your attention towards the old man, you walk forward slightly with little haste, pondering the actions of the people around you and wondering what the hell was going on. Deciphering that a prophecy was unlikely to involve you in the centre, you begin to pick apart the actions of the assaulters and begin to think laterally about the meanings and just what they were up to.

Agreeing to come along with the men for the safe release of the people behind you, you nod to them, not wanting bloodshed but to find out the truth about the group you had just met and coursed into a fight you didn’t feel was yours. Stepping back from the action, the man’s grin turns to a smirk and before you can react, the old man darts forward with impeccable speed, not usual for a man of his age. Pressing his index and middle finger against your forehead, you suddenly feel a pain wash over you and find your limbs not react as you try to struggle free.

“Shouldn’t have done that now should we? Should’ve listened to your little friends, they know better than to drag other people into this.” The man whispers as his fingers glows a faint blue, your eyes begin to shake violently and the corner of your eye catches the Cacturne using a mean look. Shivering with another wave of pain, you feel as if a thorn bush is growing inside your head, the prickles burning as they poke the fleshy undertone. “Not even God can save you now” he finished as you begin to black out, the system in your body malfunctioning with the large amount of pain as you see the man smirk through blurred and teary eyes. Just before you do blackout, you see a crimson flame burst through the hole in the wall made in the wall earlier.

***

Groggily, you open your eyes to see a new face in front of you as it lifts itself upwards, saying things you can’t hear as your senses regain back to normal. Suddenly realizing that you had been confronted and nearly killed by the old man in a cloak, you bolt upright, scrambling off the floor to check where you are. Luckily, you somehow recognise the massive hole in the wall before looking back around to see your previous comrades unhurt and a man with a growlithe standing with them and chatting until they notice your presence.

“Rick, you’re okay!” Peter yells as he helps you up with one arm as you find yourself back on two feet, brushing the dust and dirt from your clothes with relative success. “Crogunk’s fine, he was unharmed by the Cacturne because Clark here came in” he continued by pointing to the man standing with the growlithe to attention. Nodding to Clark, you begin to wonder if what any of the old man said was true, before dismissing it all as cannon to get close to you.

“We have to catch them on the back foot to finish it once and for all” Clark said as you nod in agreement “We’ll have to go deep into the city to cut them off before they reach their base. Do you want to continue?” he finishes before turning back to you. Seems he want you to decide if you’re in or not.

What will you do?

Volcano Research Institute: - Please reply in DarkRed

Dark Fire: Realizing that you had accidently freed the fire-y man, you look on in dismay at the poor Numel being tortured by the evil man before deciding to go out the corridor to confront him. Within the confides of the large caverned room, you walk into the bright light before being confronted by the man, smirking as you emerge. Saying your piece just makes the man smirk a little more, snickering with a vile look across his face.

“A boy? And an accidental release” he grins “Well then, look s like we’ve got a situation on our hand child. You see, I’ve wanted to destroy the Volcanic Mountain region for millennia but a team of researches betrayed me and locked me away. Times were different then but I’m sure I’ll be able to get enough information out of your battling styles to know what to expect up there.”

Flexing his muscles for a second, the man clicks his fingers and the Slugma stopped the flamethrower. As some of the Numel fall to the floor unconscious from the pain, the others stumble a little before turning towards you, staring. The Slugma, on the other hand, line up on your left in singular form along the wall, creating a small field inside the Pokémon. Clicking his fingers again, you feel the ground rumble as a line begins to be drawn by earthquake in the ground, the cracks making a football field like shape.

“This is our playing field, get thrown outside the area and you’ll get a flamethrower to the face by the Slugma or the Numel. We’ll start with someone easy” he laughs as he reaches for a pokéball, unclipping it from his belt before throwing it to the floor revealing a evolved yellow and orange chicken; a Combusken.

No need to apologize. As always, thanks for the update - glad your back at it! Also, for the time being, I'll be keeping Keo as a Krabby, and Forteo as a Pineco. Sorry for any confusion. -_-;

In the Volcanic Mountain Region's Sacred Forest, the trainer Ben Hale gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes into slits as the events of battle raged before him. To say that things did not look good for his team would have been a gross understatement. Ben wasn't sure how much longer his tiny twosome could hold out against the twin Shadow Tauros. He knew he had to stop them the tainted bull Pokemon if he wanted to prevent the complete destruction of the forest. The time had come to call upon some of their most powerful techniques.

Putting on a determined expression, Ben hollered out instructions to his small comrades. "Keo! Hang in there, mate, and hit 'em with an Earthquake - while Forteo, you Protect yourself! Then let's try to use our weakness as an advantage! Keo, go with Flail and follow up with Superpower! Forteo, try to blind a Tauros with a Toxic to the eyes, then go with a Return, since our last one didn't work out!"
