Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
Because somebody was going to start one eventually. If I list all of my favorite opening/ending themes, we'll be here all day, so I'll limit my list to ten each:
Openings: -"Owarinai Yume" -third opening, Inuyasha -"We Are!" -first opening, One Piece -"Kirby!" -second opening, Hoshi no Kirby -"Kanashimi wo Yasashisa ni" -third opening, Naruto -"1/2" -second opening, Rurouni Kenshin -"Kimi ni Fureru Dake de" -third opening, Rurouni Kenshin -"Seishun Kyousoukyoku" -fifth opening, Naruto -"Mou Nakanaide" -sixth opening, Ranma 1/2 -"Nenjuu Muchuu 'I Want You'" -fifth opening, Crayon Shin-chan -"Yume no END wa Itsumo Mezamashi!" -second opening, Crayon Shin-chan Endings: -"Shinjitsu no Uta" -fifth ending, Inuyasha -"Hummingbird" -third ending, Yakitate! Japan -"Dreamship" -thirteenth ending, One Piece -"Mountain a Go Go Two" -seventh ending, Naruto -"Uchuu wa Taihen da!" -first ending, Urusei Yatsura -"Shouchi no Suke" -fourth ending, One Piece -"Ashita Moshi Kimi ga Kowaretemo" -first ending, Yu-Gi-Oh! -"Taiyou ga Mata Kagayaku Toki" -fourth ending, Yu Yu Hakusho -"It's Gonna Rain!" -fifth ending, Rurouni Kenshin -"Motherland" -third ending, Fullmetal Alchemist ...and I just realized how many of my favorite anime themes are from anime that I've barely seen, or in some cases, never seen. That's downright scary.

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
I'm basing my lists on music w/animation cause music alone usually doesn't cut it for me~ besides I dunno song names. Endings are usually slow paced and lack in the animation department so there's really few I can bother to care for.
Op: Big O Fate/stay night (2nd) Magic Knight Rayearth (2nd english) Ninja Nonsense Sailor Stars Zeta Gundam (both) Nanoha (all) .hack//Liminality (all) Pokemon (5th, jp ver) Death Note (2nd) Higurashi (even though I didn't like the series) Ed: Nanoha A's .hack//Roots FLCL Angelic Layer (2nd) |

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
Say what you will about Lucky Star, I care not, that opening song kicks ass. Especially the first part with the fast talking. I'm a big sucker for odd and/or complex rhythms.
Also... ROTFLMAOWIMP at the robot dance. Especially the first one with the one-legged twisty dance. I almost spit my drink on the monitor watching that. |

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
The opening is awesome, though I don't think the dancing is as memorable as Haruhi's.
I really don't think Lucky â˜â€* Star is that bad. It has very "Seinfeldish" humour where they talk about nothing. Obviously, it's not even close to being in the same league as Seinfeld, the best sitcom of all time, but there's still some mildly amusing parts.

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
The spunk and general behavior of teenage Japanese girls trapped inside the bodies of elementary school Japanese girls. Every lolikon's dream. -_-; *gag* I can't stand watching that opening (video sequence) because of how many things the little girls do with their bodies (generic body language, postures, attitudes) that real little girls would NEVER do and tons of teenage girls do. It's CLEARLY pandering to pedophilic fantasies. If you don't think so, then I guess it's just that I've had to put up with pedophiles pedophili-ifying everything that moves for so long that I myself can't help but to see it as such.
*sigh* Lolikons have ruined Lucky Star for me. Examples, in case people want to argue -_- .... - 0:09 , the way the girl points her finger at her mouth. NO LITTLE GIRL MAKES THAT POSE. - 0:33 , this scene pisses me off the most, the FUCK is this? Softcore pedo? - 0:33 , and what the hell is a little girl doing wearing dark-gray pantyhose anyways? Don't even try to worm out of this one by saying they're stalkings -- yeah, because all those years growing up you always saw girls wearing dark stalkings and never wearing white ones. -_-; - 0:42 , the fuck is this? -_-; A police officer who looks like she's 10? - 0:44 , and this? A mother who looks like she could be her daughter's older sister? Of 12 years of age? - 0:46 , what the fuck is this, they actually SHOW a pedo stalking little girls - 0:53 , when the fuck was the last time you saw elementary school girls in cheerleading uniforms? Cheerleading == Middle School or High School. These girls look WAY too childish for that. I don't care how old they "really are" in the show, (*cough* pedos trying to evade the law! *cough*), these girls look like they're 10, even by anime standards. - 0:59 , For example, this girl! The red-head on the left. Are you going to try to tell me she looks older than 10 to you? - final shot. *no comment, too irate*

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
Man, you're too obsessed with pedophilia! I remember how bizarre it was when you said you couldn't watch Honey & Clover not because it was outrageously boring, but because it was supposedly pedo for some hare brained reason.
Also, the Lucky â˜â€* Star girls ARE in high school, despite the way they look. Back in the day, people would look at the Sailor Moon girls and say, "No way they're only 14", and now it seems the trend in character design has reversed, making older girls look younger is now in.

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
No way, dude. You can't tell me I'm "obsessed with pedo" if you're looking at the same intro I am (at scenes 0:33 and 0:46, man!) and you're trying to tell me you see nothing wrong with it. If you seriously see nothing creepy or "appealing to the pedo market" about those scenes, I don't know you.

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
I thought you were going to provide better examples than that (like boob bouncing at the cheerleader part) but no, I don't see anything wrong with 0:33. As for 0:46, well I suppose that's probably an older dude looking at the girls, but there's not enough evidence to suggest he's checking them out.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not denying that there's some stuff like that in here. This is a show completely catered to Otaku shut ins after all. But it's not even close to as explicit as say, Nanoha. And like I said, they can fall back on the excuse that they are supposed to be in high school. Did you punch a hole in the wall when Ayu was in the bathtub in Kanon?!

Re: Favorite Opening/Ending Themes
As a person who is following Lucky Star, I can tell you that there is nothing pedo about it. There is one scene where everyone is in a bath-house, but nothing pedo appeared in it.
As for the stalker dude, he is kind of a pedophile (and Konata's dad o.o) but I kinda find him amusing (like the doctor guy from Excel Saga =D). Now, for the OP. HOW?! It just seems like an extremely energetic Hare Hare Yukai to me. If you pay attention to the lyrics, it is just a bunch of random comments. Of course the characters look extremely young, but I think they are just trying something new. Hell, a bunch of anime characters look younger than they really are (Ayu's 17). Lucky Star just took it further than most other titles do. |
