Beginner Trainer Battle: Marion Ette vs. uhhhhh

The Mansion was VERY excited, an old friend was returning and it couldn't wait to greet her back. The gates creaked in the light breeze and as the young woman approached they shot open a howling filling the night, a cold welcome indeed as only the Mansion could. Marion looked just as happy to be back and almost nostalgic as she manoeuvred her way through the deep grasses to where she knew the arena would be.

The other trainer though however had an aptitude for getting lost and although her found the Mansion alright he gulped at the sight of the deep grasses. The referee had prepared for this however and a Duskull appeared hovering over the trainer his red eye glowing in the darkness. He beckoned for Connor to follow and the trainer found his way to the arena where both women were waiting for him.

"Welcome back Marion, I bet its been a while since you were here last. As you can see the Mansion has changed quite a lot but its gardens remain as unkempt as ever. Its nice to see you too Connor, did you get lost again?" The referee chuckled at that "At least Cadaver was on hand to help out" she said hugging her Duskull in her arms as he blushed. "Well then lets go over the rules so we can get this battle started."

Beginner Trainer Battle (Pokemon from Lv’s 01-25 used only)
1 on 1
72 Hr DQ Period
Arena: The Haunted Mansion's Forgotten Garden: A large overgrown garden approximately 40m x 40m wide situated in the Mansions backyard. In the tall grass hide many wild Pokémon who are known to randomly attack trainers and Pokémon who invade their territory.

She allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Marion Ette to Heads and uhhhhh to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Heads".
Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play:

– I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)
- I will then ref the first round.
- Marion Ette will then order their attacks for the next round.
- uhhhhh then orders their attacks.
- I ref the round, and the next round attack orders switch and so on and so forth till we have a winner!

Marion openly smiles as the Mansion gates blow open with a blast of cold and the sound of eerie howling. It certainly felt as if an old friend were welcoming her home... Certainly, Liliana was far younger and less experienced than Cadaver, but she hoped that this battle would prove that she had the potential to be just as strong with a bit of effort and training.

Marion bows to Connor, clearly content to be back on the grounds of her beloved Mansion. Whether she won or lost, it would have been worth the visit in her mind.

"Best of luck to you, Connor," Marion calls out before releasing Liliana onto the battlefield. The little Duskull seems just as energized by the environment as Marion is, and her single eye reveals her focus and determination. She does not take her eye off of Connor's Pokemon, a little green monkey named Sylvester.

"Liliana, start the battle off with Flash! Then fire off a Confuse Ray and hit Sylvester with your Night Shade! I know you can do it!!"

Connor felt a little awkward as he approached the battlefield with Gaspard, and Stacey's Duskull named Cadaver. Stacey had known the trainer's tendency to be lost and she had requested her own Duskull to help him out in locating his way to where her and Marion were already waiting for him.

"Whew, finally made it! Sorry to keep you guys waiting and thanks for the help there Stacey, you too Cadaver. I don't know what would have happened if I wandered around here..." he waved at them from his respective Trainer box. I'm fighting against a Ghost-type specialist with the referee also being a Ghost-type specialist in a Mansion filled with Ghost-type Pokemon," Connor pointed out. "Let's get this battle started then! But first..." Connor then grabbed his camera on his neck and for once, he placed it inside his backpack. "I figured you didn't want to have your photo taken Marion, so I'm not taking photos this time. That's the only favor I'm going to give you though! I'm not holding back just because we're friends, I expect you to do the same! You too Liliana!" he grinned as he picked out a Poke Ball from his belt. "Now then... Sylvester, it's showtime!" he threw the Pokeball as it opened to reveal an eager Pansage who was ready to fight. "Heh, I think Sylvester's more excited than I am here!" he laughed.

"Alrighty then Sylvester, start off this round with two Leers and a Lick! I'm counting on you!"

Whilst Marion was reminiscing in the ground of her beloved Mansion Connor was thankful for the help to the arena. Cadaver bowed to the trainer and made his way over to his own who greeted him with a smile. Both trainers listened over the rules before making their way to their trainer boxes surrounded by the deep grass. Marion released her Pokemon, a Duskull of her own called Liliana. Cadaver perks up at the sight of one of his kind and stares at the young female feeling a need to cheer her on. He looked up to see his trainer grinning down at him and he blushed. Connor put his camera away before releasing his own Pokemon, a Pansage called Sylvester. Although he felt outnumbered by ghosts his own Pokemon should have an advantage surrounded by this thick grass. The referee made sure both trainers were ready before Cadaver let loose a Will-O-Wisp signal to start the match.

Both Pokemon eye the other up and Sylvester begins with a vicious Leer but as he focuses his gaze on Liliana she releases a bright Flash. He yelps in pain and rubs at his eyes furiously, that's one way to make the most of that move! Liliana takes advantage of Sylvester's preoccupation with his currently blind state by firing off a Confuse Ray that hits him right in the face. Now he was blind and confused, this was not a good start. Connor looks on with concern as his Pokemon stumbles about aimlessly. He gives him his orders to attack and Sylvester appears to hear him but he fires a Leer off towards the grass instead of his target.

Liliana giggles at the sight of her opponent and finishes off the round with a well aimed Nightshade. Sylvester stumbles back from the attack wondering who sent that his way. He turns around to where he thinks the attack came from and goes stumbling through the grass. Liliana floats in the air happy in the knowledge that he wouldn't have enough sense to reach her. Suddenly he jumps up grabbing her and delivering a Lick to her face. She shrieks and flies off before stopping as sparks fly off her body from paralysis, she was not so happy now.

Marion grimaces at the paralysis, hoping that Liliana's Lum Berry will activate soon. Even so, she had done well for her first round, and Marion wanted to encourage Liliana to continue doing well.

"Liliana, Disable his Lick, then close the gap stealthily with Shadow Sneak and Astonish him! You're doing great so far, hun!!"

"Confuse Ray eh... Sylvester you still with us?" Connor said to the Pansage who was simply saying gibberish stuff. "Sage... Pansage sage pan pan?" he said towards... no one. Connor sighed. "Well, you got us there Marion... heh," he said to her.

"Sylvester, are you listening? If you can understand me, try to clear your vision first and go for a Leer and then Bite!" Connor says slowly but surely as he hopes that the Pansage snaps out of his confusion

Both Pokemon were afflicted with statuses but at least Marion had prepared for this eventuality. Connor was a little concerned with how confused his Pansage was, he was talking gibberish and he couldn't be sure if he was hearing his orders at all, only time would tell. Liliana does the sensible thing firstly and eats her Lum Berry sighing as she feels her muscles loosen and the paralysis lift ... it tasted pretty good too. Connor soon found out that at least Sylvester heard his first attack as he appears before Liliana and fixes her with a fierce Leer preventing her from performing her Disable. Now he had her where he wanted her what does Sylverster do? He Bites her ... hard ... wait why was he in pain? Connor slaps his head in disbelief as his Pokemon has bitten his own hand!

Liliana snaps out of her stupor and remembers what she was here for. She sends her Shadow Sneak towards Sylvester catching him from underneath as her Shadow strikes him for damage. She then finishes her ghostly combo by shrieking loudly startling Sylvester with her Astonish but at least it seems to have snapped him out of his confusion.

"Wait Sylvester, that's not-" Connor attempts to stop the Pansage but it was too late as the confused monkey bit his own hand hard. Connor facepalmed. "Geez... seems as though that and Liliana's Astonish snapped him back though," he said.

"Sylvester, no fooling around this time, all right?" he said to the Pansage. "I want you to Lick Liliana once more and Bite her twice!"

Marion seems deep in thought. Keeping Pansage in a state of confusion was certainly priority right now, but she also wanted to ensure that those Bites did not hit Liliana... she knew how damaging two super-effective attacks could be. She crosses her fingers, hoping her strategy will work.

"Liliana, flash another Confuse Ray at Pansage, and then Disable his Bite attack! Follow it up with a Night Shade! Keep it up; you're doing great!!"

OOC: Marion just to let you know that Disable is reffed like the Anime more so than the games so Disable is used to prevent a Pokemon moving rather than stopping them using a particular move.

Well one round later and both Pokemon had rid themselves of their status afflictions, its amazing how things can change so quickly. Connor hopes to use Sylvester's super effective attacks to gain and lead whilst Marion was hoping to prevent such an action. Sylvester leaps up and Licks Liliana who shrieks an 'ewww' and backs off, at least this time she wasn't paralysed. She fires off another Confuse Ray which hits home and Sylvester is looking derpy again and staring off in a daze.

He forgets about his next attack and Liliana uses her Disable to hold him in place preventing him from moving or attacking. She follows up with a Night Shade and he winces as the black bolt strikes his chest before he falls to the ground freed from the hold.

((Okay, got it. Sorry about that!))

Liliana was doing a wonderful job in this battle so far, and with a second round of confusion, Marion was cautiously optimistic. That said, Liliana was starting to look slightly fatigued, and Marion realizes that she might have to hold back a bit on those high-energy attacks, saving that energy for when it will really be needed.

"Give him a nasty Leer, then follow it up with Shadow Sneak and Astonish!"

Connor knew very well that Marion was capitalizing on Sylvester's confusion and that he has to find a way to somehow turn the tables around... if only Sylvester was in the right state of mind right now.

"C'mon Sylvester, I need you right now, snap out of it!" he calls out to his Pansage, "Sylvester listen to me alright? Two Leers at Liliana. I repeat, two Leers at Liliana. I only hope you understand what I'm saying here..." he ordered as slowly as possible while keeping his fingers crossed to let the confused Pansage hopefully understand what he was saying.

Marion certainly had a plan in mind and that was to keep the Pansage confused, if he was confused he couldn't attack back, or at least his chances were reduced. Connor was a little panicky, how could he combat this? He could for now only hope that Sylvester would hear him and follow his orders; he was sensible enough to not order any physical attacks this time!

Liliana hovers before Sylvester's face, his eyes are a light pink from the confusion and her eyes glows a brighter eerie red as she Leers at him. He looks towards her and freezes with fear, she looked so scary right now! Liliana floats away giggling to herself, this was going well. She manipulates her shadow cast by the night's full moon sending the Shadow Sneak right at Sylvester who yelps in pain. Sylvester looks around hoping to find the thing that struck him. His eyes glow red as he fires a Leer towards the grass startling a Seedot that was peering through to observe the match. It squeaks and looks petrified and Sylvester looks proud not realising his missed his target. Liliana hushes another giggle and she darts towards Sylvester and shrieks at him with an Astonish scaring both him and the Seedot who runs off into the grasses crying. Sylvester looks to have come to his senses, the screeching Astonish seems to work to cure anyone from confusion.

A Nuzleaf slowly makes its way out of the grasses with a pissed off look on its face, the baby Seedot behind it looking scared. It swishes its head leaf around sending multiple Razor Leaves at both Liliana and Sylvester leaving little cuts all over their bodies. You have to be careful of the wild Pokemon in the grasses that was for sure!

Connor blinked at the Nuzleaf. That didn't quite worked out as planned but it thankfully didn't do much on Sylvester's end due to him being a Grass-type. He snapped back to reality once more too. "Ten bucks says Liliana's going to confuse him that's for sure. Well, never mind that. Sylvester, plant a Leech Seed towards Liliana, and then Bite her twice!"

Though Marion is tempted to send Sylvester back into a state of confusion, she senses that the move has been draining Liliana's energy reserves, and thinks better of it. Time to play evasive...

"Liliana, Dodge the Leech seed and Flash Sylvester right in the eyes so that it's harder for him to bite you! Follow it up with Astonish! You can do this~!"

Marion was concerned about how much energy her Pokemon were spending in order to win this battle and decides to stop with the Confuse Rays in case that was the cause. Sylvester was hanging on and now he had a round free of confusion Connor hoped to use his super effective moves to take the lead.

Sylvester fires off a Leech Seed from his head and Lilian moves to dodge but gets caught in the long grasses as she missed her dodge. The seed lands on her mask and the vines wrap around the body and start to sap away her health. Sylvester charges towards her before she can recover and Bites down on her side. She screams in pain and floats out of the grass to safety.

She takes deep breaths to push through the pain and releases a bright Flash at Sylvester who winces in pain and holds his hands to his eyes, just when his vision was nearly back to normal. Liliana darts towards him and shrieks with her Astonish causing him to flinch whilst still rubbing his eyes.

Marion grimaces as Liliana is seeded. This was not good. She was going to have to get on the offensive, and fast, before the leech seed sapped Liliana's health! She was going to have to bring the pain...

"Liliana, I think another Leer is in order! Once Sylvester is thoroughly intimidated, show him that he has every right to be with Double Astonish! Make him fear you, Ana!"

Connor and Sylvester were both fired up now. The duo had finally found an opening and they weren't going to let Marion and Liliana break their momentum now. If a single Bite dealt that much damage...

"Pansage!" "You said Sylvester, we're just getting started here! Now then, I want you to Leer, Lick, and Bite at her! Show them how strong you are!"

Now that Liliana was seeded Marion was in a hurry to finish the battle off before it completely sapped her health. Poor Sylvester was blinded once again and was fighting against the spots forming before his eyes. Liliana comes in for a Leer her red eye glowing brightly and eerily but Sylvester could only make out a blurry object before him and the Leer fails. He is asked to perform the same move but he Leers in the wrong direction so both moves fail, not a great start to the round.

Undeterred, Liliana dashes in towards Sylvester and shrieks her Astonish catching him off guard but not making him flinch like last time. Sylvester recovers quickly and leaps up to give her a big wet Lick and barely misses her side as she moves swiftly making her sigh with relief, that Lick was a horrible feeling! She counters with a second Astonish ans this time Sylvester flinches in shock as he's caught from behind with the attack.

A grumpy looking group of Exeggcute leap out of the bushes, they were trying to sleep and all they could here was constant shrieking! They fire waves of Confusion in their anger at Liliana at keeping them awake; she grimaces in pain but doesn't look confused. The eggs bounce back into the undergrowth hoping to get some rest at last.

Sylvester was starting to get really annoyed as the Flinch-confuse strategy was really getting on his nerves. He just can't seem to get a single strong hit on Liliana and the other Pokemon were having better luck at damaging her than him. Connor on the other hand had continued to be more excited at the match. "Heh, I knew you weren't going to be easy to beat Marion. But we're not giving up! Sylvester, two Bites and a Lick!"

Marion was starting to get sick and tired of all this biting and licking... Liliana had been doing her best to evade the super-effective hits, and was doing quite well, but Marion can sense that her energy just keeps going down... In addition, those wild Pokemon just kept going after her! It was quite the conundrum.

"Liliana, blast him with Confuse Ray, then do your best to conserve your energy, Dodging his attacks if you can! You can do this!"

Marion was becoming increasingly frustrated that her opponent kept going for these super effective hits and Liliana was fast losing energy. She needed to avoid those attacks and conserve energy at the same time. Sylvester had another round of misses and flinching, if only he could land a good solid hit, well now was a good time as any to try.

Sylvester leaps up and only just manages to catch the Duskull with the edge of his Bite before he lands back down a grin on his face. Liliana feels thepain right through her soul and shrieks in anger as she sends another Confuse Ray his way leaving him staring around in bewilderment. Now it was time for plan 'dodge'! Sylvester shakes his head and leaps towards Liliana with another Bite but she deftly dodges out the way to leave him to face plant the ground. He gets back up and blinks on confusion, what was he doing? He had forgotten!! Liliana has no need to dodge another shot and it looks like Sylvester is fresh out of dark energy with that last Bite even if it was a failed attempt.

Seemed like it was good news/bad news time on the battlefield... The good news was that Sylvester's jaws seemed too tired to continue biting. The bad news, of course, was that Liliana had lost her edge, and with the lack of energy, she would have to battle smart.

"Liliana, use Leer, and follow it up with Shadow Sneak! Try to Dodge out of the way of the first lick you see! Keep fighting, hun~! You can do it!"

"No more biting eh? This should be fun," Connor remarked after seeing Sylvester's jaws being too tired to keep on biting things; Marion's strategy had worked well except for the two times that it actually hit. The confusion had hit him once again though... except this time Connor's not having any of it. He felt that it was now the time to use his own Lum Berry. "Sylvester, eat the Lum Berry you're holding! Then I want you to use your own Leer and then surprise her by Whipping her twice with your Vines!"

Liliana was running low on energy and Marion was understandably concerned meanwhile Sylvester had no more dark energy left so any biting he would do now would be powerless. Oh well both Pokemon still had tricks up their sleeves and now they would show their hand. Sylvester is confused but hear's something about a Lum Berry? He looks down and notices the green berry tied to his arm, that looked tasty! He chomps down on it and grins as the green juices run down his chin, he was feeling better and thinking more clearly now. After he finishes eating he suddenly sees Liliana before him Leering at him and he is startled and forgets his next move.

Liliana backs off and animates her Shadow once more before sending it Sneakily towards Sylvester who winces in pain as he's knocked over. The Pansage gets back to his feet quickly ready to go on the offensive himself and he releases a Vine before Whipping Lilana hard making her cry out and rub her side; this was a new tactic! She is prepared to dodge if another yucky Lick is sent her way but Sylvester sends his Vine Whip back around to smack Liliana on the other side of her body. Even with his reduced accuracy he still managed to hit her and she was beginning to hurt now!

This was it. Connor had felt that this is going to be at most the last two rounds for either of them. "This was fun Marion, and this could go either way for us now at this rate! Liliana too! However.. Sylvester, I think it's time to bring out the big guns. Throw three Seed Bombs towards Liliana!"

Liliana snaps out of her stupor and remembers what she was here for. She sends her Shadow Sneak towards Sylvester catching him from underneath as her Shadow strikes him for damage. She then finishes her ghostly combo by shrieking loudly startling Sylvester with her Astonish but at least it seems to have snapped him out of his confusion. Arc_Angel Ghostly Mistress Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Comatose, lost to sweet oblivion Posts: 4,248	Round 3 OOC: Marion just to let you know that Disable is reffed like the Anime more so than the games so Disable is used to prevent a Pokemon moving rather than stopping them using a particular move. Well one round later and both Pokemon had rid themselves of their status afflictions, its amazing how things can change so quickly. Connor hopes to use Sylvester's super effective attacks to gain and lead whilst Marion was hoping to prevent such an action. Sylvester leaps up and Licks Liliana who shrieks an 'ewww' and backs off, at least this time she wasn't paralysed. She fires off another Confuse Ray which hits home and Sylvester is looking derpy again and staring off in a daze. He forgets about his next attack and Liliana uses her Disable to hold him in place preventing him from moving or attacking. She follows up with a Night Shade and he winces as the black bolt strikes his chest before he falls to the ground freed from the hold. Connor was a little panicky, how could he combat this? He could for now only hope that Sylvester would hear him and follow his orders; he was sensible enough to not order any physical attacks this time! Liliana hovers before Sylvester's face, his eyes are a light pink from the confusion and her eyes glows a brighter eerie red as she Leers at him. He looks towards her and freezes with fear, she looked so scary right now! Liliana floats away giggling to herself, this was going well. She manipulates her shadow cast by the night's full moon sending the Shadow Sneak right at Sylvester who yelps in pain. Sylvester looks around hoping to find the thing that struck him. His eyes glow red as he fires a Leer towards the grass startling a Seedot that was peering through to observe the match. It squeaks and looks petrified and Sylvester looks proud not realising his missed his target. Liliana hushes another giggle and she darts towards Sylvester and shrieks at him with an Astonish scaring both him and the Seedot who runs off into the grasses crying. Sylvester looks to have come to his senses, the screeching Astonish seems to work to cure anyone from confusion. A Nuzleaf slowly makes its way out of the grasses with a pissed off look on its face, the baby Seedot behind it looking scared. It swishes its head leaf around sending multiple Razor Leaves at both Liliana and Sylvester leaving little cuts all over their bodies. Sylvester was hanging on and now he had a round free of confusion Connor hoped to use his super effective moves to take the lead. Sylvester fires off a Leech Seed from his head and Lilian moves to dodge but gets caught in the long grasses as she missed her dodge. The seed lands on her mask and the vines wrap around the body and start to sap away her health. Sylvester charges towards her before she can recover and Bites down on her side. She screams in pain and floats out of the grass to safety. She takes deep breaths to push through the pain and releases a bright Flash at Sylvester who winces in pain and holds his hands to his eyes, just when his vision was nearly back to normal. Liliana darts towards him and shrieks with her Astonish causing him to flinch whilst still rubbing his eyes. Liliana was doing a wonderful job in this battle so far, and with a second round of confusion, Marion was cautiously optimistic. That said, Liliana was starting to look slightly fatigued, and Marion realizes that she might have to hold back a bit on those high-energy attacks, saving that energy for when it will really be needed. "Give him a nasty Leer, then follow it up with Shadow Sneak and Astonish!"

"C'mon Sylvester, I need you right now, snap out of it!" he calls out to his Pansage, "Sylvester listen to me alright? Two Leers at Liliana. I repeat, two Leers at Liliana. I only hope you understand what I'm saying here..." he ordered as slowly as possible while keeping his fingers crossed to let the confused Pansage hopefully understand what he was saying.

That didn't quite worked out as planned but it thankfully didn't do much on Sylvester's end due to him being a Grass-type. He snapped back to reality once more too. "Ten bucks says Liliana's going to confuse him that's for sure. Well, never mind that. Sylvester, plant a Leech Seed towards Liliana, and then Bite her twice!"

Poor Sylvester was blinded once again and was fighting against the spots forming before his eyes. Liliana comes in for a Leer her red eye glowing brightly and eerily but Sylvester could only make out a blurry object before him and the Leer fails. He is asked to perform the same move but he Leers in the wrong direction so both moves fail, not a great start to the round. Undeterred, Liliana dashes in towards Sylvester and shrieks her Astonish catching him off guard but not making him flinch like last time. Sylvester recovers quickly and leaps up to give her a big wet Lick and barely misses her side as she moves swiftly making her sigh with relief, that Lick was a horrible feeling! She counters with a second Astonish ans this time Sylvester flinches in shock as he's caught from behind with the attack. A grumpy looking group of Exeggcute leap out of the bushes, they were trying to sleep and all they could here was constant shrieking! They fire waves of Confusion in their anger at Liliana at keeping them awake; she grimaces in pain but doesn't look confused. The eggs bounce back into the undergrowth hoping to get some rest at last. He just can't seem to get a single strong hit on Liliana and the other Pokemon were having better luck at damaging her than him. Connor on the other hand had continued to be more excited at the match. "Heh, I knew you weren't going to be easy to beat Marion. But we're not giving up! Sylvester, two Bites and a Lick!"

She needed to avoid those attacks and conserve energy at the same time. Sylvester had another round of misses and flinching, if only he could land a good solid hit, well now was a good time as any to try. Sylvester leaps up and only just manages to catch the Duskull with the edge of his Bite before he lands back down a grin on his face. Liliana feels thepain right through her soul and shrieks in anger as she sends another Confuse Ray his way leaving him staring around in bewilderment. Now it was time for plan 'dodge'! Sylvester shakes his head and leaps towards Liliana with another Bite but she deftly dodges out the way to leave him to face plant the ground. He gets back up and blinks on confusion, what was he doing? He had forgotten!! Liliana has no need to dodge another shot and it looks like Sylvester is fresh out of dark energy with that last Bite even if it was a failed attempt. Then I want you to use your own Leer and then surprise her by Whipping her twice with your Vines!"

Oh well both Pokemon still had tricks up their sleeves and now they would show their hand. Sylvester is confused but hear's something about a Lum Berry? He looks down and notices the green berry tied to his arm, that looked tasty! He chomps down on it and grins as the green juices run down his chin, he was feeling better and thinking more clearly now. After he finishes eating he suddenly sees Liliana before him Leering at him and he is startled and forgets his next move. Liliana backs off and animates her Shadow once more before sending it Sneakily towards Sylvester who winces in pain as he's knocked over. The Pansage gets back to his feet quickly ready to go on the offensive himself and he releases a Vine before Whipping Lilana hard making her cry out and rub her side; this was a new tactic! She is prepared to dodge if another yucky Lick is sent her way but Sylvester sends his Vine Whip back around to smack Liliana on the other side of her body. Even with his reduced accuracy he still managed to hit her and she was beginning to hurt now!
