Bulbasaur Zone Admin Elections

Zone Admin Elections

With both the islands of Incognito and Minnao closing their ports, and the gates to Bulbagarden having opened, it is time to look towards the future.
That’s right ladies and gents, it is time for a new zone to be introduced to the land of Fizzytopia.

Current Status: Final Results

Congratulations to Naruxami

The way Fizzy Bubbles now stands with its updater pool, we can afford to open up 1 new seasonal zone. This time around, the zone elections will be held a little bit differently. Namely, they will be a Zone Admin election instead. We’re looking for a responsible leader who is willing to spend a portion of their free time maintaining their new zone; hiring new updaters, firing old updaters, managing updater's workload and ensuring all adventures proceed routinely by having their updaters work together. To coincide with this small change, we’ll be posting an announcement with some adjusted rule changes in regards to Zone Administration.

The elections will be held in a similar vein to moderator elections. That is to say, the community will be able to give their input and final vote on the candidates, and the moderators will take these into advisement and make the final decision themselves. Because this is a Zone Admin election, and not a Zone election, keep in mind whether you want to retain exclusive rights of ownership of a zone you submit or whether you’re willing to have someone be its administrator in your stead. In case of the latter, you’re free to partner up with a ZA nominee you trust to moderate your zone. In other words; one player can submit a zone and have a second player apply to be its Zone Admin. The minutia of the partnership – eg. Who has the ‘creative’ control? – is to be decided between the two players beforehand. Understand though that the elected Zone Admin is the one who'll be held responsible for its daily operation.

Proceedings
1. Players may nominate themselves for the position of Zone Admin in this thread until 21st February, 11:59 PM GMT. When possible, please state which of the newly submitted zones you’re comfortable running if given a choice.
2. Players may also submit a zone in this thread for preview until 21st February, 11:59 PM GMT. Please keep Zone and ZA applications in separate posts (just in case you might be overlooked otherwise).
3. When submitting a zone, and willing to relinquish control of it to another player should you not be nominated, please state so.

4. Votes may be cast from 22nd February, 12:01 AM GMT up until 28th February, 11:59 PM GMT.
5. You may send a PM to Emi, Ex-Admiral Insane and/or Sandaa with your single vote for ZA candidate along with a preference for a zone, should you have any.

6. The winner will be announced on On 1st March, 12:01 AM GMT after which the zone may be put up on the Bulbagarden branch.

Zone Rules
* The choice of zone is ultimately decided by the winner of the Zone Admin election.
* The zone will be on the Bulbagarden Forums.
* The zone will be seasonal.
* The zone will go up on 1st March, 12:01 AM GMT.
* Entrance to the zone will close on 30th September, 11:59 PM GMT.
* The zone will fully close on 31st December, 11:59 PM GMT, after which it will be stored in the Hall of Records.

Zone Submission first. I will post my nomination post later.

Pikachu’s Toy Box

A place of wonder and excitement, Pikachu’s Toy Box is a whole new amusement park to open in the land of Fizzytopia! Join Chuwy the Pikachu, Plus the Plusle, Min the Minun, Patch the Pachirisu, Ema the Emolga, Bon Bon the Dedenne, and Maru the Togedemaru in a fun theme park adventure. Stylized after a giant toy box, the development plans for this place want to evoke nostalgia and the joys of being a kid. Open to the public, there are a variety of mini-areas for patrons to enjoy. So remember the bliss of those early years, and enjoy the fun and wonders inside Pikachu’s Toy Box!

Electric Square (Please reply in Red)
The main entrance of Pikachu’s Toy Box, a variety of shops and memorabilia can be found here. Workers can often be seen here coming and going, helping out trainers and pedestrians alike to navigate the park. A giant statue of the Pikachu family stands in the middle of the square, with Pikachu in the middle. Workers in costumes of Pikachu and its various clones can be seen wandering the square, willing to take pictures with whoever wants to. A show hall is also located in the square, where people can see various Cosplay Pikachu performing shows at regular intervals.

The Twin’s Wonderland (Please reply in Lemon Chiffon)
The main area for rides and interactive attractions, there is a lot to do in the wonderland. The main two attractions are the Plusle Wheel, a giant ferris wheel modeled after Plusle, and the Minun Coaster, a complex roller coaster modeled after Minun. Other attractions include spinning teacups, a high drop, and an automatic swing. If you want the thrills of rides, the Twin’s Wonderland is the place for you!

Squirrel Woods (Please reply in Medium Turquoise)
An area created out of wooden building blocks and logs to look like a toy version of a forest, here people who want a more nature inspired experience can come and play. A huge park makes up the center of this area, with a giant jungle gym within it. Swings, slides, and and even a teeter-totter are within this park. A nature trail also surrounds the area, allowing people to see a variety of plant life native to Fizzytopia in this area. A water ride exists here for those who don’t mind getting wet as well. Lastly, there is a giant obstacle course for those who want to test their physical endurance.

Dedenne’s Kitchen (Please reply in Dark Orange)
The main food area, this place was made to look like a giant table filled with sweets. All of the buildings are modeled after various pastries, with the main building looking like a giant cake. Here patrons can create their own sweets and take them home, and enjoy a baking session with Bon Bon the Dedenne and the park’s very own Pikachu, Chuwy. Besides making food, patrons can enjoy cuisine from all around the world. There is also a merry-go-round for the children if they want to play while their parents eat.

Childhood’s End (Please reply in Dark Orchid) [Gated Area]
Rumor has it that there was originally going to be an area for Maru as well, a virtual reality adventure. However, during the construction, something went awry and the area was sealed off from the rest of the park. There are reports of unattended children going missing in the amusement park, for reasons unknown. Though, this area is said to host the secrets and inner workings of the park. While it is unknown how to get here, some say that when you’re totally alone in another place you might see Chuwy. A tattered, almost lifeless version of Chuwy. Follow him and you’ll end up here. Returning, however... That’s a different story.

Okay, nomination post. I'd like to nominate myself for ZA. I've had experience updating before (Casino event and Minnao come to mind), and also have ran my own RPs before. I'm fine with running almost any zone, really, but would prefer the one I just submitted. I'm flexible and have the free time to be able to ZA, etc. etc. So yeah, throwing my name into the hat.

Dialga’s Gate – Time Rift Zone

The God of Time rages. Its Roar, furious and all-powerful, has ripped open the fabric of time, creating a rift in Fizzytopia where the chronological flow is unstable… Scientists are almost unanimous in their assessment that traversing this breach is highly dangerous, due to the unpredictability of the results - but as with all things forbidden, curiosity can be overpowering…

The tear is small, almost imperceptible to the naked eye – merely a single point in the outskirts of New Fizz City where reality waves unnaturally, as if one is seeing the landscape ahead through a glass of water. But for those who know how to find it, walking through that rift is like passing a door to a completely different world. One can never know exactly where – or, more importantly, when – they will find themselves, or if another rift will appear to allow them to return, but adventure unfailingly awaits the intrepid explorers every time! All they have to do is hurry, before Dialga calms down once again and the gate is lost…

Egya

An ancient land of sand and heat, home to some of the most incredible monuments in human history. The locals are as warm as the weather, inventive and resourceful, devout worshippers of all manner of Pokémon as godly avatars. Temples and shrines are erected in honour of many of these Pokémon, and gargantuan tombs – known as pyramids – are raised in honour of deceased Kings, seen as incarnations of Arceus itself. The current ruler, Osetep I, has already ordered his servants to begin construction on his own pyramid, despite being a healthy man in his early thirties.

Although the land is dry and scarce in wildlife, human settlements built by the water are bustling with all manner of activities, and some of the more ancient and imposing constructions house formidable secrets and treasures. Explore at your own risk, remember to stay hydrated at all times and be mindful of curses!

Town of Heroth: A settlement built on the margin of the land’s only river, relatively small in comparison to the bustling cities of Egya. The people are welcoming, and much more simple-minded than the scholars and artists of the capital; their concerns are those of mundane life: prosperous agriculture and pleasing the gods. Humans and Pokémon live alongside one another, in mutual respect and understanding – a close relationship that has been somewhat lost in the bigger cities. Travelers will find no shortage of people to help in Heroth, should they be inclined to do so; alternatively, they can visit the local market, where food and trinkets of all sorts can be haggled for – most of it is junk, but sometimes…

Library of Alexia: The capital of Egya is home to all sorts of great thinkers and men of politics. The Library of Alexia is home to the ancient world’s single largest collection of scrolls, both in hieroglyphics and hieratic, on all manner of subjects – including writings about the dead, magical arts and all kinds of other strange topics. Writers, philosophers and politicians from all over Egya gather at the Library to discuss new ideas, seek inspiration and ask for advice on matters of state.

The Great Lighthouse: One of the architectural prides of Alexia and a literal beacon of hope to all sailors traversing the open sea to the north of Egya, or even the land’s only river. The Lighthouse - the single tallest building in all of the land - has been casting its light with fire for centuries, but the scarcity of wood in Egya is a long-standing problem, and the capital’s greatest minds have been dedicating their efforts to finding viable alternatives. Because, no matter what, the light cannot go out, for the sake of every sailor making their way into, or out of, Alexia.

The Temple of Basti: A place of worship in the heart of Alexia, built by devoted followers of the Feline Goddess. Basti is said to heal and destroy with equal ease; her saving mercy is the wall between Man and the Afterlife as much as her damning anger is the path towards it; it is for this reason that Cat Pokémon are sacred in Egya. The temple is a large building of white stone, filled with offerings at the feet of a massive statue of Basti, and order is kept by the many priests who constantly strive to keep the goddess pleased - often requesting help from outsiders to do so...

The Pyramid of Tokeb: Egya is home to several impressive tombs, but none as large and architectonically perfect as the Pyramid of Tokeb. Built in honour of the eponymous King, its construction dates back over a century, and is said to be filled with both unspeakable treasures and infinite, maze-like tunnels that no man has ever walked out from. As such, there is nobody left alive who knows exactly how to traverse the tomb, or what truly lies inside…

The White Sands: If one chooses to ignore the settlements, and steps out into the desert, they will find themselves in the seemingly infinite White Sands – a blanket of eroded stone that burns as fiercely during the day as it freezes mercilessly during the night. It is said that the White Sands, having no life of their own, hungrily claim that of all who traverse them – and who knows what else they might have devoured and kept concealed…

Greca

The land of progress, democracy and idealism, the birthplace of philosophy and cradle of modern civilization. The natives are intensely curious about anything unknown to them, and are often prone to experimenting new things in all fields of existence, from science to love.

They are also a religious people, much like the Egyans, but unlike them, Grecans seem more motivated by fear of the gods rather than admiration. Pokémon are not seen as sacred in Greca, since their gods are depicted as human-like, but some particular species enjoy a place of considerable reverence as fabled companions to these gods.

Contrary to Egya, Greca places much more worth in the wonders of life than in the moment of death; also, the people’s focus in on sciences and arts much more than in big architectural achievements. As a result, most buildings in Greca are not particularly awe-inspiring or elaborate, but taking time to talk to the locals can reveal some immensely interesting characters.

The Agora: The closest thing to a city square, the Agora is where everything happens in Greca. The public meeting place of politicians, who discuss their visions among themselves to be presented at the Stone of Proclamation; the trading hub of Greca, where every wealthy merchant goes to sell rare goods; and the area with the greatest amount of artist studios, where the most prominent sculptors and pottery artists apply their craft.

Oracle of Meria: Located on the peak of the land’s highest mountain, where winds are merciless and rainfall perpetual, the Oracle of Meria is said to be a woman of unfathomable power among humans, and many wonder if she isn’t in fact a deity. Much like her immortal Pokémon companion, one of her eyes is said to see the past and the other the future – and were it not for the extremely inhospitable conditions of the area, many Grecans would flock to her for advice from the gods…

The Amphitheatre: The pride and joy of Greca’s entertainment business, all manner of spectacles take place in the Amphitheatre, and only the most talented of artists are selected to perform in front of the masses. The very best are said to make veritable fortunes if their performances meet the crowds’ lofty expectations, but if they don’t...

Temple of Golgades: Located in the heart of the mainland, this Temple is a famous place of worship dedicated to Golgades, God of Victory. It is said that pleasing this deity grants success in all life’s endeavours, which unfortunately lures many charlatans and non-believers looking for an easy solution to life’s problems.

The Olympion: Those more inclined for sports will find plenty of competition in the great stadium of Greca, the renowned Olympion. All manner of competitions – speed, endurance and even body-to-body combat – are held here regularly, both for humans and Pokémon. Skill is handsomely rewarded, but only the elite athletes of each sport are invited to compete.

Isle of Cabrys: If one is looking to cast aside all worries, however briefly, this small southern isle is the place to go. A single settlement of fishermen exists here, and everyone lives blissfully unaware of the political commotion of mainland Greca. Life here is simple and straightforward, sun and sea abound, and the most trouble one might run into is a bad day for fishing or a wild Pokémon causing a bit of ruckus.

Romma

Order, Discipline, Power. The people of Romma have grown embedded in the three Virtues, and as a result have become a formidable nation. Rommans are composed, rigorous to a fault and often unapproachable, but it’s hard to refute their superiority.

Emperor Darius Agramas and his Phalanx – the chosen few hand-picked by Agramas to rule his people – are revered as the pillars of society and embodiments of the three Virtues. Their word is absolute, and Romma strives under their guidance.

Romman architecture is remarkable in scope and execution, and the whole capital is tailored to indulge the richest members of society. But particularly impressive is the nation’s military prowess, a flawlessly coordinated war machine where Pokémon are as vital (and well-trained) as human warriors, and the pride of all Romma. Combat is both a means of conquest and of entertainment in the ever-expanding empire, and the wealthiest patrons are known to spend considerable amounts of coin in fighting spectacles…

The Aqueduct: One of the Empire’s most impressive architectural achievements, not only due to its colossal size, but also its ingenious purpose. In reality, the stone Aqueduct is still incomplete, but already runs for several kilometres; however, the engineers seem to be struggling to finish the magnificent construction…

The Colosseum: A gigantic circular construction with hundreds of stands surrounding a wide clay field. This is the ultimate arena, built from the ground-up with a single purpose: glorious combat in its purest form. The strongest combatants from around the world – Pokémon and human alike – long to fight in the Colosseum, hoping to showcase their skills in front of Darius Agramas himself.

Imperial Palace: The majestic residence of the Emperor, only those with a strong enough reputation on the streets of Romma are invited for an audience. And when the Emperor calls, one answers – there is no greater honour than serving the Phalanx, and the potential rewards are staggering. If one is caught trespassing, however…

Baths of Agramas: Romma’s most famous public bathhouse, it is actually only open to a particular kind of “public” – the richest members of Romman society. Politicians and high-ranking military officers come to discuss secret matters away from prying eyes and ears – despite this being a renowned bathhouse, some of the dirtiest secrets in Romma are laid bare in these meetings. Some people are willing to pay extremely well for even a snippet of these private conversations…

Circus Solemnus: Another aspect in which Romma loves to display its superiority is through the nation’s unparalleled mastery of horsemanship. Races of all kinds are held in the Circus, both chariot and horseback competitions, and the prizes for the victorious riders are comparable to the richest rewards of the Colosseum. Competitors are encouraged to bring their own Pokémon – thus showcasing not only their riding ability, but their raising talents as well – but the Circus has mounts available for those solely interested in racing.

Horti Agraminae: The largest public garden in all of Romma, located near the Imperial Palace; one of the palace’s balconies oversees the park, from where Darius Agramas occasionally graces visitors with a smile and hand wave. The garden is impeccably maintained at all times, and has a nice balance of grassy open spaces, dense woodland areas and flowery mazes filled with gorgeous topiaries. All kinds of Pokémon are drawn to this pleasant location, and people are encouraged to interact with them, since safety is ensured by the ever-present park watchers.

Niha

Perhaps no region is as steeped in tradition as Niha, on the eastern side of the world. Its people follow customs as old as the land itself, every single action seen as a tribute to their mighty gods.

Nihans are ritualistic in their everyday life, from the way they dress to the way they eat. They uphold the value of honour above all other qualities, and will go to any lengths necessary to ensure they are remembered only for their honourable actions – the severity of any punishment must always equal, if not surpass, that of the misdeed. As a result, Nihans can come across as distant and excessively formal, but their hearts are in the right place.

Niha is a land where human constructions are scarce and simple, and most buildings are erected to honour the local deities. The vast majority of the region remains claimed by nature, and Nihans have learned to make the most of the land without upsetting this balance.

Megami Shrine: Atop a small, isolated hill is a shrine dedicated to Megami, the goddess of many faces, mother to humans and Pokémon according to Nihan belief. People from all over the land come to pay their respects and make their requests to the goddess by leaving a small tribute. There are no chairs in the Shrine – both the main building and the small pagoda nearby have only a small number of cushions for kneeling prayers, yet this does not dissuade even the oldest of believers. Some say that there have been attempts at stealing the faithful’s donations…

Hiken Tower: Natives seeking to master the sacred art of battle enter this Tower at the age of six, and only come back out once they are branded warrior monks, a process that may take over twelve years for some. When they leave, these monks are then recruited to join the Shogun’s army as holy defenders of Niha. Only those with true potential are accepted inside Hiken Tower, but the doors are always open to outsiders looking to get a small taste of Nihan battle training; it is said most give up after three days.

Cherry-Blossom Garden: One of many sprawling fields of cherry trees, it is especially beautiful during blooming season – which can last anywhere from five days to one month in Niha. Locals do not maintain this garden as one would a public park; instead, they let nature run its course, and dare not tamper with the trees in any way, as that would be disrespecting the gods who created such natural perfection. Wild Pokémon abound in the garden, having long understood that human interference is minimal, although people are allowed to cross the fields and linger as long as they please.

Rice Fields: Most Nihans make a living in the rice fields by the water, working tirelessly to grow this precious grain that feeds the entire nation. It is a physically demanding job, but many locals work well into their elderly years since this is their only source of income. As a result, injuries are frequent, as are infections transmitted by waterborne insects that dwell in the pools where rice grows. Although a paradise for many different Pokemon species, the rice fields can be dangerous to humans, and while there’s always work to be done for any who want to try, it’s also not rare to find workers in need of medical assistance…

Shiro Castle: The black stone palace of Shogun Kenzo Kirihara, Niha’s highest military figure and de facto ruler of the nation. A man in his sixties but with strength and skill rumoured to be unparalleled in all the land, he surrounds himself with the finest warrior monks and Pokémon, making Shiro Castle an impenetrable fortress. It is from this castle that the Shogun dictates the laws of Niha, formulates battle plans against any invading forces – of which there are plenty in the current day – and selects the Hiken Tower graduates that will serve under him. To be granted an audience with Kenzo Kirihara is the absolute highest honour in the eyes of any Nihan.

Scandia

Considered by many to be a land of brutal warriors and bloodthirsty warmongers, and no Scandian will ever deny it. This northern peninsula is home to some of the fiercest, most barbaric fighters in the world, whose strength in combat is only matched by their sailing skills.

From a very young age, Scandians are taught to handle three things: an axe, a Pokémon and a boat. Both the axe and the Pokémon stay with them their entire lives; boats are plundered, stolen and swapped as the need arises. They spend most of their lives at sea, sailing to any neighbouring lands yet to be explored, waging war with nations they deem worthy, pillaging and putting to the torch all the others.

Gods, too, are instruments in their warring ways – all of them said to be favoured by glorious combat and conquest. Scandians honour their deities with blood and victory, or valiant death in the face of a stronger foe. As a result, they fear nothing, living only for the thrill of battle, and that makes them all the more dangerous.

Borg Keep: Home to the Jarl of Scandia, Bernhardt Ivarson, a massive fortress of rock and ice that has never been conquered. Riches plundered from other lands are brought here, where the Jarl keeps the lion’s share and divides the remaining spoils between the warriors who claimed the most lives in the raid. Tasks Bernhardt needs taken care of, either within Scandia borders or across the sea, are issued here by the Jarl himself, who isn’t particular about the people he lets inside the Keep so long as they have any worth to him.

Valheim Port: The harbour from which every Scandian Warship departs, this is both the meeting point of great warriors and the prime spot for commerce in the entire land. Merchants carry some very interesting goods, both from the frozen grounds of Scandia and exotic goods pillaged from conquered lands that are “unaccounted for” and thus never make it to Borg Keep. There is good money to be made here, and in order to reach the open seas, one must inevitably pass by Valheim Port if they are to board one of the vessels.

”The Skall” Longship: The oldest ship in the Scandian fleet, and most would agree, the best. The Skall has travelled countless miles and reached a hundred different shores. The man who designed it has long since passed, and no other has been able to build a similarly magnificent warship. When a particularly large, profitable raid is in sight, The Skall is inevitably the ship that will make the journey – it carries only the strongest, most reliable of Bernhardt’s men, and being allowed aboard is a great honour.

Helga’s Tavern: It’s not that this is the only tavern in Scandia – it’s that Helga smites the competition with the best mead and the best placement: right in front of Valheim Port. Tired warriors come to regain their strengths, drink a glass or seven, and toast to the success of their latest raid. It’s the number one place to pick up some gossip, pick up a fight or pick up work if one’s looking for a quick buck. Scandian warriors aren’t exactly rich, but they always keep something extra for themselves whenever they pillage another region, and might be willing to part with the loot if they need a favour done.

The Titan’s Horn: Scandia is a region of tall, frozen mountains, and the Horn is the biggest of them all. Overlooking the entire coast, a small lookout has been constructed on the very peak, but it is said no soul has ever made it that high up and survived other than the very man who built the lookout. The weather conditions are unforgiving, subzero temperatures and gale-force winds making it impossible for just about any human to survive without exceptional preparation, and only the hardiest Pokémon can endure this extreme climate.

I will not appoint myself to serve as ZA for my submitted Zone or any other. I will gladly welcome anyone looking to carry Dialga's Gate forward if that is the chosen Zone, as we have some very dependable players at the moment!

I just can't shoulder that responsibility on top of New Fizz, but I can help carry some people along as a ZU if nobody else is available. As it stands, I thought I'd submit a Zone that people can experiment with in a variety of settings, and which I think fits well with the "seasonal" gimmick as it is directly linked to the mood of one of the Pokemon Deities.

Hope you like it, and apologies for not stepping up to carry the burden. Reasons have already been explained in the ZU Announcements

Alrighty, well might as well throw my hat in the ring. I'd like to be a candidate for ZA, however I would only be willing to update Mask's proposed zone. The zone looks amazing and fits perfectly with my interests. I believe I'm currently one of the most reliable updaters at the moment, most of my updates can probably attest to the consistency of my updates. Despite already updating elsewhere, I believe i would be able to reduce my LMN load and would probably look to finish my Bedlam updatees or move them on.

I wanted to submit a zone (and I still might, but I'm not sure it'll be done in time to actually submit it.) However while it's fresh in my mind I'd like to nominate myself for a possible candidate for ZA! I feel like I have lots of experience in updating. Not only here on Fizzy Bubbles but also on other Pokemon related sites. I was also one of the first ZUs when the new zones popped up on here when we officially changed Fizzy.

Although I am not the most consistent updater at times, I do like to think of my updates as having polish once they are posted. I'm sure (or at least I like to hope) that many of the people I've updated have enjoyed reading their updates and heavily enjoy the colourful adventures I send them on.

Although my current priorities are in LMN, if I am elected as your next ZA I'd finish my adventures and shift my attention into this new zone. I can't say for certain if I'd up and leave LMN, but being a ZA would be the core focus of my attention.

I'm fine with running any zone! I feel like working closely with the original creator could make the zone feel fresh.

Thank you for considering me! I hope I can meet (and exceed) your expectations!

Posting a zone on behalf of Emi, who is unable to post at this time. She intends to run as ZA for this zone as well:

Quote:
The Pixielands

"The Pixielands is a place only rumored to exist, far far away from civilization. A place untouched by human civilization, for the most part, a place where nature grows freely and without poison, a place where maybe there is just a little bit of magic in the world. Now listen, I said maybe, I can't confirm anything. They speak of the Pixielands as a place where fairy tales are made reality: there are indeed pixies and fairies, there are poisoned apples and dwarves, there are jabberwockies and bandersnatches. Is it a magical world with magical things, or is it some manifestation of our collective imagination? No one knows the answers, dear child, and I'm afraid that my tale must come to an end. For you see, I'm a very busy man, and I'm afraid my responsibilities are calling for me. I trust you can cover our drinks, right?...Oh come now, don't make that face. I'm leaving you on a cliff hangar, aren't I? Hmm, maybe not, I think you're just annoyed. Maybe I could offer you a boat ride? To where? Now now, don't worry child, I'm much too old to pull any shenanigans, but trust me when I say it could be an...enlightening experience.

My name? Hoho...the name is Charon, child. It's nice to meet you."

---

The Pixielands in short is a zone half-inspired by fairy tales and fables and half-inspired by traditional mythology. In short, its a mystical and magical place that exists in our world just beyond the traditional boundaries of logic and sanity. It's a pure place untouched by the dangers of modern civilization: greed, immorality, disease, urbanization, pollution...maybe. Well okay, its not a maybe, its not that kind of zone, it genuinely is pure. But maybe not innocent. After all, fairies are tricksters and charlatans, are they not? Adventuring in the Pixielands will require both equal parts care and abandon: the self-control not to grab at everything in front of you, but the impulsiveness to try out every experience possible. One must become a contradiction in order to survive her, in a place of magic and mystery.

Gingerbread Lane: The main city and one of the only large settlements in the Pixielands. Despite what one would suspect, it seems that there are a variety of houses that line the streets, from all sorts of different time periods. There are Babylonia-era clay houses adjecent to super-modern green housing, with a medieval-era castle looming behind them. The town is called Gingerbread lane because of being well known for its confectionary bakers. People coming here can delight in being treated to all sorts of wonderful desserts. Be wary though; while some people will happily give away their creations for free, there are others who will demand a price.

Even in the Pixielands there are things to do and things that need doing, although almost nothing ever serious happens here. Once can find a number of menial tasks in the Town Square, and often for bizarrely generous or stingy rewards. Those looking to help out will find no shortage of tasks for good samaritans.

Rainbow Ruins: The ruins of a long-forgotten civilization, only some artifacts remain of this empire. Even the memories of it have left all but the oldest residents of the Pixielands. What does remain is largely useless and valueless, although the machines that create the Rainbow Bridges curiously still run. One can use these bridges to cross the gaps to different parts of the ruins. There might still be some things to find here, in addition to their being some quirky individuals who are maniacs about everything that comes from these ruins...even if its just pointless rubble.

While the Rainbow Bridges are completely stable, the ruins may not be, so caution is advised. In recent years some Pokemon have habitated the ruins, curious on the power that keeps the Rainbow Bridges going. On specific note is that it seems that the Unown congregate around one specific part of the ruins in question: its so popular that the Rainbow Bridge is ever marked as leading to that particular section.

Slypheed Forest: A forest where it is said that a powerful wind sprite lives, although no one has ever seen it. The forests at one point had a much darker history due to general prejudices against the people who live inside. However, with the current advancements in social progress, it seems that relations have softened greatly and maybe of the inhabitants of the forest are more than happy to meet outsiders. However, deep in the forest is a different story, as the people here were driven away a long time ago in an unknown conflict and have since harbored fear and mistrust of outsiders. This is one of the few places where one can be in serious danger, although the pixies who live in this forest insist that they're really not bad folk.

Legends speak of a tribe of warriors who live their lives exclusively in the trees and of plants that bewitch their victims before eating them, but the pixies also say those stories are definitely false. There are a plethora of Pokemon that live here, more than in any other region in the Pixielands, probably because the barrier between worlds here is very thin.

Mermaid Beach: A wonderful coastal beach overlooking the ocean, this place is actually well appropriately named, as one can find many a mermaid here on the rocks offshore...wait...no. No. Those are Dewgong. Legends speak of mermaids who will come ashore, looking for their true loves, but a mermaid has not been seen in several decades, so maybe they were false stories anyways. But then they will tell me occasionally a pure maiden will suddenly go missing after walking the beach at night. But that's just superstition. Strictly speaking, Mermaid Beach is basically as ideal of a beach as possible. White, sandy beaches, beautiful blue skies constantly, and deep blue water as far as the eye can see. There is also a wide variety of Water-type Pokemon here, most of which absolutely love the ideal conditions and the friendliness of the people here. Even Pokemon like Gyarados will become calm in such a place, humming a peculiar tune. Funny, I've never known Gyarados to hum. I didn't even know they could.

If you're looking for fun under the sun or a oceanic adventure, Mermaid Beach is the place for you.

The Crags of Stalagmo: In constrast to the serious sounding name, the "crabs" are actually just a series of gentle mountains that split the Pixielands in two. Even inexperienced hikes will find these mountains easy to traverse, and are able to take in the beautiful and majestic views from their smooth peaks. Some Pokemon live here, although not as many as one might expect, and curiously, it seems that one can find old, broken technology from the outside world here more than anywhere else. Pokemon associated with robotics or machinery often love these places where the junk collects, and there have been stories of giant, lumbering giants made of scrap metal and discarded goods coming to life. But to be fair, the person who told me these stories was pretty damn shitfaced, so its probably not true.

Of a particular note is that its quite easy to find items that Pokemon can use to evolve here if they are more technological in nature. Some examples include Up-Grades, Protectors, Electrizers, and Dubious Discs. Many trainers search the junk heap for these valuables items.

Plains of Arciel: Where the name "Arciel" comes from is unknown, although some researches have theorized its a bastardization of the name Arceus, the creator god of mythos. These plains extend for what seems to be miles around, and truth be told, normally there is not much a reason to come to these plains...

Except for The Games! A friendly competition that is held every two months, The Games are a number of challenges that are meant to test ones mind, wits, and strength. This event is very popular and often more people will congregate here than in anywhere else in the Pixielands. If you're looking for someone and can't find them, chances are they went to see The Games. Anyone can enter and join to compete for prizes and gifts, and the Grand Prize is said to be to have a kiss with the Princess of All Fairies. No one has ever won the Grand Prize however, so no one knows if this gift is legitimate or not!

Hidden Areas...?: In a new mechanic not yet introduced in zones, there are hidden areas that may only be revealed once certain conditions are met to find them. This is because the Pixielands are not too well-traveled and there still exist many secrets in this world. Even I know nothing, not even rumors!...which is basically code for "I'm lazy and didn't write any of them yet, but I will!!!!!!"

Once a hidden area is discovered, its location will be revealed, as well a short blorb giving any information that had been discovered about it.

"One final note about the Pixielands, child. It seems that here, the world around you will warp according to your desires. If you desire fine women, then you will be greated with nothing but the most splenderous women you've ever seen. I've seen more than one man, and lady, utterly enchanted and stay here to drink the sweet nectar of the eyes. If you desire to kill, well, let's just say death is swift to respond. It's unknown why the world is like this, but remain ever congnizant of your motivations and emotions while traveling the Pixielands. If you're not careful, you could spring a trap, created by your own heart..."

Metadata: Adventures here should be short to normal length typically. There may be some hidden zones appropriate for long length adventures. This zone is more fantasy based than other zones, so players looking for a more real experience might want to adventure elsewhere. Finally, this zone is meant to be easier than other zones: there will be less challenges involving Pokemon strength and typically less threatening scenarios.

Kalapona Wai National Park

Kalapona Wai National Park sits on over 20,000 acres of protected land and is known for its scientific and environmental contributions. Signed into existence over one hundred years ago by the League, it is divided into three main parts -- the Kalapona Wai Visitor Center, the Kalapona Wai Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation System, and the largest of the three, the Kalapona Wai Nature Preserve, which is home to hundreds of species of Pokémon, many rare or endangered.

Kalapona Wai Visitor Center

Kalapona Wai Museum of Natural History: (Please reply in Steel Blue.)
The public face of Kalapona Wai, the Natural History Museum is open six days a week. Though it technically sits outside of the nature preserve, its close proximity means that some Pokémon can be found having ventured relatively near to the building, and it is not uncommon to see small mammals, birds, or insects in the grass outside. The museum hosts dozens of exhibits, including a presentation on the adaptations of invasive species of Pokémon in the Alola region and a comprehensive display on the phenomenon of split evolution. Many of the exhibits are hands-on and incorporate live Pokémon, which make them popular with families and trainers alike; currently, the museum’s biggest attraction is its large collection of Pokémon fossils.

The Adoption Center: (Please reply in Light Steel Blue.)
A non-profit organization founded as a means to do the same good for domestic Pokémon that Kalapona Wai had been doing for wild Pokémon for decades, the Adoption Center is annexed off of the east side of the museum. Its mission is simple: to find new homes for abandoned, orphaned, or confiscated Pokémon which are too domesticated to be released into the wild. It has its own three-acre lot of land which is divided into eighteen enclosures in which the resident Pokémon live. Run entirely on volunteer manpower, the Adoption Center is always eager to accept help from kindhearted trainers looking to lend a hand with the myriad of chores that need doing -- volunteers need simply to apply at the front desk.

Kalapona Wai Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation System

The Sandlots: (Please reply in Tan.)
The first thing of note upon entering the gates of Kalapona Wai are the sandlots; two massive dirt lots to either side of the road. The western lot -- Lot A -- is overlooked by the [B]Kalapona Wai Pokémon Center[B], while the eastern lot -- Lot B -- is overlooked by the Warden’s Station and the bunkhouse. Lot A is used by the Pokemon Center for physical therapy, while Lot B is used by the games wardens for training regimens. Both sandlots are large enough to accommodate guests, however, and visiting trainers are welcome to make use of either lot however they see fit, so long as they’re mindful of those at work.

The Pokémon Center: (Please reply in Crimson.)
The heart of the Kalapona Wai Rescue and Rehabilitation System. Staffed by four nurses, it specializes in the care of injured wild Pokémon. The nurses are trained in triage and old-fashioned medicine; the Pokémon Center itself lacks a healing machine as the majority of its patients are not assigned to the Pokéballs required for such technology. Trainers hoping to have their Pokémon treated here will have to settle for more traditional medicine.

The Warden's Station: (Please reply in Sea Green.)
The warden service governs Kalapona Wai, enforcing laws, protecting the land, and dealing with disasters, both natural and man-made. The core of warden operations is the warden's station. Here, confiscated items, apprehended criminals, and even Pokémon are held here until they can be turned over to the proper authorities. This is also the first stop for trainers seeking access to the Kalapona Wai Nature Preserve; entry into the park is gated and entry permits must be approved and signed off on by Head Warden Eli Kumumea.

The Bunkhouse: (Please reply in Dark Sea Green.)
With a force almost three dozen strong and with up to twenty officers on the premise at any given time, the bunkhouse is where active duty wardens sleep, eat, and live for weeks at a time. Similar in structure to a dormitory, there are several rooms -- each of which is capable of housing up to 4 officers --as well as common eating, cooking, and leisure areas. Access to this area is restricted, requiring clearance from Head Warden Kumumea.

Kalapona Wai Nature Preserve

Access into the park is gated and entry permits must be approved and signed off on by Head Warden Eli Kumumea at the Warden's Station.

Sun Song Lake: (Please reply in Dark Cyan.)
Upon entering the Kalapona Wai Nature Preserve, the first thing to catch most visitor's eyes is the expansive fresh water lake to the northwest, at the foot of the western side of Heaven's Gate mountain range. Nearly a mile across, the waves and reeds disturbed by the winds produced melodic sounds that have been likened to music. Home to a wide variety of aquatic species, the lake is also frequented by Pokémon from all over the park, where they hunt, drink, and even play. Though motorized water crafts are banned, trainers are permitted to surf, swim, and even fish in the waters of Sun Song Lake.

Song's Soul Isle: (Please reply in Medium Aquamarine.)
At the center of Sun Song Lake is a small island, densely surrounded by tall reeds and the choppy waves. Isolated and relatively untouched, it is home to both rare plants and rare Pokémon, some of which cannot be found anywhere else in Kalapona Wai. Trainers hoping to visit Song's Soul Isle must first venture over the lake, which can prove challenging. Highly territorial, the Pokémon on this island are among the most vicious in the park.
Song's End Cove: (Please reply in Aquamarine.)
On the opposite side of Sun's Song Lake, trapped between the water and the rocky edges of Heaven's Gate is a cove with a white beach. Due to run off from the mountains the soil is mineral rich, and plants here grow large and healthy. It can only be accessed by crossing the lake in its entirety, but the journey make be worth it: Cook James' long-saught fortune, believed to have sunk into the lake almost 200 years ago, is rumored to have washed up here. Though there is little proof of this, trainers have found many rare items here, the appearance of which cannot be readily explained.
Heaven's Gate Mountain Range: (Please reply in Sienna.)
Almost 4 miles tall at its highest peak, Heaven's Gate is the most prominent and visible feature of Kalapona Wai. The main path from the sanctuary gates leads to the base of the range and winds upwards into the mountains, splitting off into several hiking trails of various lengths and difficulties. The topography is largely rocky, though plants grow densely in whatever soil there is to be found. Due to the altitude, the range's three peaks are snow-capped throughout the entire year.

Blackfeather Plateau: (Please reply in Peru.)
Known colloquially as 'the boneyard', Black Feather Plateau juts like a hooked beak from the easternmost side of the mountain range, overlooking Swiftwing Wood. A popular nesting site for Mandibuzz and Murkrow, sun-bleached bones litter the rocky ground here. Though the only way to reach Blackfeather Plateau is by the longest and most difficult hiking trail of the mountain, one can still make the trip in a matter of hours. Due to a series of strange events around a decade ago, the plateau is closed to visitors at night.
Crown of Heaven: (Please reply in Cadet Blue.)
The frigid, dangerous areas above the snow line of Heaven's Gate is collectively known as the Crown of Heaven. Believed by the indigenous people of the surrounding areas to be home to a benevolent goddess known as Haulani, the site is a popular cultural destination. Although it is permitted by the warden service to climb beyond the hiking trails, amateurs are discouraged from attempting to reach the Crown of Heaven; the steep, snowy mountainsides are prone to avalanche.
Heiau o Haulani: (Please reply in Pale Turquoise.)
At the summit of Heaven's Gate, on the Crown of Heaven, is a centuries-old shrine of stone and wood, where Haulani is worshiped. Ornate motifs of Ice-type Pokémon decorate the beams and bricks, though much of them are shrouded in a constant layer of snow. At the altar -- which is flanked at either side by twin statues of Frosslass representing Haulani's celestial attendants -- is a stone hearth; stoking it is said in myth to bring good fortune and prosperity.
Windrunner Plains: (Please reply in Goldenrod.)
The easternmost portion of Kalapona Wai is blanketed in a large series of grasslands known collectively as the Windrunner Plains. Large herds of ungulates roam this area, feeding on the grasses which flourish here. The ecosystem of the plains is complex, with large predators feeding on the hoofstock, while birds, insects, and small mammals thrive on the constantly available food sources, which are varied and include grasses, seeds, prey species, carrion, and even dung or scat. Though the occasional shrub or small tree dots the landscape, the plains are largely open with little coverage beyond the tall grasses themselves.

Swiftwing Wood: (Please reply in Yellow Green.)
Running between the eastern mountain range and the Windrunner Plains is a thick forest of expansive size. Its deceptively quaint name derives from the many species of bird Pokémon which call it home. The canopy is dense and in many places blocks out the sun entirely, resulting in a relatively sparce understory and forest floor. Because of this, the Swiftwing Wood is relatively easy to traverse, though inexperienced foresters may find themselves easily lost in the seemingly landmark-void sea of trees.

Wood's Heart: (Please reply in Forest Green.)
Due to its massive size as the relatively difficulty of navigating the forest, the deepest parts of Swiftwing Wood remain relatively untouched by man. Due to the seclusion, many Pokémon species that are otherwise rare make their homes here. The easiest and most reliable way to reach the Wood's Heart is by using a GPS device -- it may be possible to borrow one from Head Warden Kumumea at the Warden's Station.

Tate's note: Don't be intimidated by the large number of gated areas! I intend for movement between areas to be relatively easy; the gates are in place for continuity purposes rather than challenge. This zone is a somewhat personal pet project, and so I am not willing to relinquish it to other ZOs.

I am applying for zone ownership, particularly of Kalapona Wai. I am not willing to take on a different zone, so please bear in mind that a vote for me would be a vote for Kalapona Wai.

I have experience as a ZO; I was the original ZO of LMN before relinquishing it to Deo who -- if I'm being honest -- had far more love for the idea than I ever could. (And it wasn't that I didn't enjoy LMN, but he really went above and beyond for the zone during my tenure there.) Kalapona Wai is a pet project that I've been working on since last August and I'm pretty impassioned about it. Because the zone which I would intend to run is so near to my heart and because I have a particular vision for the zone, one can expect me to be an actively involved ZO. My focuses would be on thematic consistency and relative realism in adventures (insofar as a Pokémon adventure can be realistic).

Admittedly, I am currently a university senior and the 'season' of this zone is going to span my last two semesters as well as my graduation. I am fairly confident in my ability to manage the zone despite academic commitments, though I understand if this is a point of concern for people. As a ZO I would hope to get my hands on 2-3 ZUs to help with the burden, although given the small pool of available updators I'm going into this election prepared to handle the zone with only a single ZU if the situation absolutely demands.

Though I have updated in both LMN and Bedlam, I currently am not in charge of any active adventures in either zone and so I am ready and able to put the entirety of my updating focus onto Kalapona Wai.

From this moment onwards we’ll be accepting votes for the next ZA. New submissions can still be made, but keep in mind that votes may be cast from now on. Understand that we’re planning to have the zone go up as soon as we’re in March. So the sooner we receive your vote, the better. Below are detailed the candidates as well as the zones they’re eligible and/or wiling to moderate. You may cast a single ballot for a ZA candidate by PM to Emi, Ex-Admiral Insane and/or Sandaa. If desired, you may also submit a preference for a zone. However, it’ll be a consultative vote. The winner of the election will ultimately decide which zone they’d prefer to moderate and thus which zone will be the one to go up on BMG.

After going through the votes and talking it over with the other moderators, we've reached a final verdict. Congratulations to Naruxami. The seasonal zone Dialga's Gate: Time Rift Zone will go up on BMG within the next few days. The deadlines as posted before will remain intact.
To the other nominees, we want to thank them for their candidacy and willingness to take on more responsibilities for FB. There will be plenty of other opportunities in the future and we hope to see your submissions then as well.

Congratulations again to Naruxami.
