Spinda Happy Lunar New Year 2023 - Year of the Jade Buneary

Long ago, the Four Treasures of Ruin, also known as the "Four Perils", took the form of cursed objects that brought untold disaster and destruction to whoever was in possession of them. According to ancient legend, these malevolent artifacts were born from the fear and hatred of those slain unjustly by royal blood. Before they were ultimately sealed away by powerful Wielders, the relics fell into the hands of a corrupt king of Fizzytopia, resulting in a deadly plague that razed the old Fizz City capital. As the epidemic continued to spread from the emperor's foolish actions, the Goddess of the Moon heard the desperate cries of suffering from sick and dying citizens. Taking pity on the poor populace, she sent her envoy - the Jade Buneary - atop a noble steed to bring special medicine made from mystic herbs to those afflicted by the disease, curing them in an instant. For each house visited in turn, the moon messenger's mount would change in appearance - sometimes a lion, tiger, deer, or even an elephant. Thus, toy figurines of a Buneary riding all manner of creatures have become popular with children, sold at many craft stalls throughout New Fizz City's Artisan Avenue at this time in historical remembrance.

Today, as Fizzytopians gather again to celebrate the New Year, the festivities are once more suddenly interrupted by a thunderous roar - as all look to the sky to see Raikou's return silhouette illuminated by a full moon, bathed in golden light like a halo. Strange, wasn't the lunisolar calendar supposed to fall on a new moon cycle? As the glowing figure descends though, its fair mane shifts to billowing black, taking on the familiar form of a Hisuian Arcanine. Then, a trumpeting Copperajah. Finally, the beast becomes a majestic Wyrdeer as its hooves alight gracefully to the earth - and on its back is the fabled Jade Buneary itself, come bearing presents for all~

Trainers may claim the following rewards from this event:
1x Rice Cake - Made on the moon by the Jade Buneary, who when not preparing the Elixir of Life can be seen mixing mochi in its mortar and pestle. Perhaps if you ask, it will let you try pounding some too? Grants +1 Level when eaten!
1x Zongzi - A sweet rice dumpling! Inside could be anything, from peanuts to taro to red bean paste and more. If fed to one of your Pokémon, it will learn a natural EM or MT Move!
1x Heal Powder - Heals all status problems on a Pokémon, but has a bitter taste.
1x Energy Root - Restores a Pokémon by 120 HP, but has a bitter taste.
1x Revival Herb - Revives a fainted Pokémon and restores it to full HP, but has a bitter taste.
1x Moon Stone
1x Moon Ball
1x Jade Buneary Figurine - Teaches a TM of choice. (Depicted Ride Pokémon is up to player preference.)

If you are lucky, you may even also receive a gift of a red envelope filled with money from various Gimmighoul hiding throughout the city. One origin tale of these traditional hongbao tells of a demon that would come to sleeping children on New Year's Eve, touching their foreheads three times to cause anxiety, headaches, and fever. In order to keep their youngest son from falling asleep, an elderly couple gave the boy eight pieces of copper coins wrapped in red paper to play with. However, eventually he became too tired to stay up, and his parents placed the packet of coins by his pillow to protect him. When the demon arrived, the coins transformed into eight fairies, emitting a strong light that scared the monstrous evil spirit away. Should you find one of these "fairies", it is said to bring great fortune...

In order to claim the (optional) following, you must write a RP post of at least 150 words*:
1x Red Envelope containing $500
1x Gold Sycee - A gold ingot shaped like a boat, resembling a form of ancient currency. Teaches XM MAKE IT RAIN.
+5 Levels and the ability to teach XM MOONBLAST to one participating Pokémon

*Regular Cash and Bond rates also apply

Arne felt contemplative. Sure, the festivities were just a bit further ahead, a large gathering of Fizzytopians and tourists alike joined in celebration to greet the arrival of the Jade Buneary. But he chose to remain isolated, away from the commotion, to watch events from a nearby hill in peace; he had a lot on his mind.

I've never seen anything like this back home. For all the talk of gods and titans roaming the land in ages past, not once have I seen a hint of the supernatural, a single sign of divine intervention. But in this backwaters region? Demonstrable evidence of Primal Dialga sightings, space-time rifts caused by a magical Pyukumuku, and now the arrival of this mystical being from the heavens. What does Fizzytopia have that my homeland does not? What makes it special?

He felt angry and intrigued at the same time. He'd come here to make a name for himself, as was customary of every Haraldson when they became of age. But the longer he remained in Fizzytopia, the less he wanted to actually go back. He wanted to remain here, explore every nook and cranny of this remote land, filled with so much more wonder than the snowy landscapes where he spent the majority of his youth. And that made him feel like a traitor.

What would they say if I knew how I really feel? To a Haraldson, few things are more important than one's roots to the homeland. For me to even considering not coming back...

Just then, a tug on his jacket snapped him out of his spiral of self loathing. Looking to the side, he saw Mindy, the very special Tinkatink he'd found as an Egg on Springtide Isle, looking back at him with tear-filled eyes. She held Valentine, her small but trusty hammer, tightly in her grasp. He realized then that his expression was worrying her.

"Oh, there, it's fine. I was just... thinking about some things. Everything's fine. Look up, something's about to happen!"

The sound of thunder signalled the arrival of the Jade Buneary, riding atop a shapeshifting being bather in golden moonlight. Mindy stared in wide-eyed awe as the creature transformed over and over while descending, taking the form of a variety of different Pokemon, though not randomly. The crowd cheered , arms outstretched, waving at the magical Buneary, hoping to be blessed in some way for the duration of the coming year.

Do any of them believe in making their own destiny? Or do they gather here every year to put the burden of their fortunes squarely on Buneary's shoulders?

But even he, equal parts skeptical by his own temper and spiritual by his upbringing, could not deny there was some kind of fantastical power radiating from the heaven-sent jade beast. And so he lingered on his hill, watching events unfold. Mindy, in turn, could not take her eyes off of the Buneary, easily the most impressive thing she'd ever seen in her few days of life.

The Buneary traveled across the sky, showering the crowd with gifts, circling the area three times, and then riode off. But not directly upwards - atop a roaring Raikou, it made a turn and headed Arne's way; as it approached, the steed shapeshifted again, this time into a Gyarados, and only then began to rise higher, and higher, transforming once more into a Rayquaza once it was barely out of sight. Arne's and Mindy's eyes remained locked on the spectacle, and as such did not notice until later the small collection of gifts that materialized at their feet.

"Happy New Year Mindy. Let's make it a good one."

The Tinkatink nodded and grabbed Arne's leg with her left hand, Valentine held tightly in her right. Her smile was contagious, and it told Arne that, somehow, everything would be fine.

"Darkness gathers with the setting sun, yet moonlight enlivens the sleeping streets of the city." A fitting title for a new piece, thought Liawe, as she sat sketching out the festivities before her. The lanterns below, intermingled with streetlights and candles, fending off the all-encompassing darkness above, that which threatened to crush and consume all beneath, and yet even from the darkness came a radiant glow from the light of the inconstant moon, waxing to full strength on this glorious night beyond all rhyme and reason. This might be her best one yet. Stowing the piece, she stood and moved towards the festivities, Vulthuryol the Aerodactyl padding along behind her.

The booming arrival of the Jade Buneary was something of a shock to Kerry, who had until then been enjoying her time at the festival. Well, mostly at the food stalls dotting the streets of the labyrinthine city, for both she and her Pokemon had ravenous appetites that weren't quite sated by Liawe's attempt at a "cultural" soup. Liawe may have been a decent artist and a not-incompetent battler, but she was definitely not a chef of any appreciable calibre, and both Scyther and Cyndaquil were glad to get some solid food in their stomachs. Settling down on a convenient bench, Kerry and her buddies took in a view of the fair, complete with a moonless night above. Liawe had gone to get some work done with the scenery, which was fine with her, but it did also leave her on caretaking duties with a couple of Liawe's more raucous tag-alongs, these taking the form of a Starly and, to her dismay, a Baltoy. Sheut was a serial trickster who thought little of the consequences of his pranks, and while Carl was fairly standard for a Starly, he was also fairly aggressive for his stature. Couple that with Liawe taking her Aerodactyl with her to draw, and Kerry was glad that Hope hadn't shown up. That would've required payment of some format. Even Sheut might push her that far, though the Baltoy seemed to be behaving fairly normally for the moment. Kerry was watching him now, as he sat there looking almost asleep, with her Surskit perched atop his head. All was calm, and all was good, as the team sat calmly in the moonlight... wait, moonlight? It was a new moon tonight. Standing suddenly, Kerry and Scyther began looking about to find out what was going on, before a calamitous thunderclap drove her to her knees. Carl swiftly dove to her side, while Cyndaquil and Surskit rushed over to their stricken trainer as Scyther stood guard. Sheut remained still, unperturbed by the turn of events. Possibly still asleep. Staggering back to her feet, Kerry looked up to see a shape flashing through the sky, resolving itself into being a green Buneary atop some kind of... ancient Stantler grandpa? She'd never seen that one before. The rabbit Pokemon seemed to be handing out gifts, and as Kerry wondered about how best to get close a basket appeared before her with a variety of oddities within. Unfortunately, it appeared on the floor before her, which meant that her very hungry Cyndaquil got into the basket first, trying to some kind of rice dumpling before Kerry pulled him back out, much to the hedgehog's discontent. Looking up, she saw Sheut and Baltoy float towards the crowd as Liawe and her Aerodactyl approached, her cousin greeting her Pokemon and being rather surprised that Sheut hadn't burnt something down yet. As the two trainers appraised the contents of their baskets and made to leave, they noticed one final stall: A paper lantern stand, offering to send your wishes to a moon goddess for hopes of prosperity in the coming year. The lanterns in hand, Kerry and Liawe moved outside the city once more, returning to the hill Liawe had been sketching from and the hill they'd landed at, before lighting their balloons (with a little help from Cyndaquil) and sending forth their wishes into the new year that lay before them. As for what they wished for? Who can say...

Claiming:
1 Rice Cake
1 Zongzi
1 Heal Powder
1 Revival Herb
1 Energy Root
1 Moon Stone
1 Moon Ball
1 Jade Buneary Figurine
1 Gold Sychee
Cyndaquil gained 5 levels and learnt Moonblast!

Thanks for the event!

"...Count Shockula," Keith repeated in amused disbelief. "Count Shockula?"

"I didn't pick the name," chuckled Marv. "I seldom get to. You wanna meet him?"

Keith and Willa exchanged looks. "I'm cool with it if you are, dear," he said. "It's not like I didn't bring a certain Pokémon of my own..."

"Indeed," Willa conceded. "All right, Marv, let's see."

In response, Marv held up the Vampire Ball, from which emerged a larger-than-average Emolga, who held up his capelike membrane to partially obscure his face, showing only his eyes as he peered eerily at Keith and Willa. "Mol eeee ga," he greeted them creepily. Then, he threw his membrane open wide, as well as his mouth, the latter of which enabled him to bare his fangs and hiss in an alarming way. However, to general satisfaction, he made no effort to actually advance on anyone following this display.

"Well, that's good," murmured Diana. "Shall we go on, then?" she asked the others. "We don't want to miss the festivities, after all."

"Indeed we don't," Keith agreed. "Let's get moving, then." And the two couples headed off down Artisan Avenue. As they went, they each sent out a few Pokémon. Keith and Willa, in addition to having brought Meowth and Meowstic, who were both out of their balls already, sent out their respective starters- Gemini and Mustard the Normal Form Weezing, and Willa's Yanmega. Diana sent out Jack, her Pansear, while Marv sent out Sans, his Alolan Sandslash, who put an arm around Count Shockula's shoulder, his grin far more good-natured than it was when they'd first met.

Keith then took out another ball- a Vampire Ball just like Count Shockula's- and threw it into the air, from which emerged a spherical creature with a positively unsettling countenance. Count Shockula turned to look at the source of the sound, and stopped in his tracks.

"hm?" Sans murmured. "shocky boy, what's wrong?"

"Who," breathed Count Shockula, "is that radiant beauty?"

"radiant beauty?" repeated Sans. "i don't see anyone like that. they must be walking on the other side of lavender over there."

"Lavender!" repeated Count Shockula. "Such a beautiful name... I must... go to her at once," he decided. "Sans... wish me luck," he murmured, as he made his way over to the unsettling Jigglypuff."

"good luck, little fella," Sans murmured as he watched his friend approach Lavender.

"Good evening," Count Shockula said, membrane held over the lower part of his face as he approached Lavender. "Allow me to introduce myself- I am Count Shockula, the New Vampire of Cadaver Forest," he said impressively.

Lavender said nothing at first. She stopped in place, turning slowly to face Count Shockula, gazing unreadably at him with pitch-black eyes. "...oh, I like you already," she grinned after a few seconds, having seen absolutely no fear in the Emolga's reaction. "I am Lavender," she said.

Dropping his whole face-covering act, the smitten vampire took hold of one of Lavender's ominously bloodstained stubby arms. "Forgive me, Lavender, if I am too forward in saying so, but I find you to be the picturesque pinnacle of pallid perfection," he breathed. "I would delight in drinking your blood, I have no doubt, and yet, you I would leave with enough to sustain life."

Lavender gave an eerie, unsettling giggle . "You're quite the charmer, my dear Count," she said. "I like your cheek pouches," she added, noting the crimson circles on the Emolga's cheeks. "Like the blood of my enemies," she said.

"And made that way from the blood of my own enemies. Ohh, Lavender, I would swiftly exsanguinate anyone who you call a true enemy," vowed Count Shockula.

"And I would gladly feast on those that would subdue you," responded Lavender, her grin growing more and more eerie. She took hold of the paw that Count Shockula had taken hold of her arm with. "Let's walk," she said. "Enjoy the night and learn more about one another."

"I would love nothing more," smiled Count Shockula. And hand in hand, the downright unsettling duo led the way ahead. Keith rolled his eyes, but chuckled, and forked over a fistful of Pokédollars to Marv, who was waiting for it, hand outstretched, likewise chuckling to himself, the chuckle of a man who had just won a bet. There was much for them all to do and see that evening, many cool little trinkets to stumble across, interesting medicinal items to collect, and even money to be made (helping Keith recoup his losses from the bet he'd lost to Marv). Overall, a good time was had by all, especially Lavender and Count Shockula, whose attempts at getting to know each other led to them kissing under the light of the full moon. It would have been a far more beautiful scene had they not just finished hunting down a Rattata beforehand, but that certainly didn't seem to mar the moment for either of them.

This outfit was tight and rather uncomfortable. Yet, he chose to wear it in order to follow these "traditions." Whatever that meant. All he wished to do was to experience this festival, as a reprieve. He'd been mostly cooped up in that damn bakery for a few months at this point. Even when Leo had contacted him earlier in the month, seems seemed surreal. Where was he? Any attempt to find him was starting to spread thin... Only for a dog to show up from the storage box. It was an interesting confirmation of the reports he had read.

She was quite the good dog though and was helping with everything going on. Whenever he was stressed, she would bark at him. Try to worm her way into his room, much to William's chagrin, and give affection. The Dachsbun was doing wonders not just for him, but for everything living in the embrace. And, even then, she would still sleep on her trainer's bed properly when she was tired. She missed him too, didn't she?

So, even so he wasn't her trainer, he was here at that dog's behest. And the other dog too. He noticed that the grumpy Granbull seemed to enjoy the company of the Dachsbun a lot too. Perhaps something was blossoming out of that? He didn't know, and he didn't really care. His own love life was too much of a quagmire to think of other people's. Or Pokemon's. Regardless, he was now here, feeling a hole within his own heart.

"You okay Ethan?" he heard a voice whisper in the wind, and turned to see a Lampent materialize.

"Will, you came," he muttered to the Pokemon.

"Of course I came, you think I wouldn't?" the Pokemon chuckled, floating around his trainer.

"Lucas didn't... He seemed to be a bit displeased at the idea," the homunculus sighed, wishing his Raichu was by his side.

"Well, he's been busy with running the house in a sense. I don't know what happened upstairs last night..." the Lampent trailed off. "Yet, I know it's affected you quite badly."

"At least I didn't decide to-" the Unovan started to reply.

"Uh, y-yeah, let's not talk about it," the Lampent said with an embarrassed tone, cutting off his trainer.

"Still, why in your Pokemon form? I thought you only wanted to use it in battle?" Ethan asked the Pokemon.

"It felt... right for tonight, you know?" William responded with a confidant arm cross. His Pokemon body was, after all, a lot more restrictive.

"I guess. The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" The false human nonchalantly replied.

"Theo loved to stargaze. Though, knowing things now, I feel like it was him looking for his father. Grandfather? It's... complicated, isn't it?" the Lampent then replied. "Even if you can't remember those memories... Only memories that bitch gave you."

"Even if this is a false body living on false memories, it's still my life. This is technically a new year, you know. While we didn't make as much progress last year as we thought, we still have time..." Ethan trailed off, tightening his fists. At this point, they had made their way to the shrine.

"Do we? Really?" William questioned. "I guess you can say the past year was a lot more eventful for me than for you. Yet, I'm not sure where we are in terms of having time..."

"Lyle and Sandy both were positive we had time. She's not going to make a move yet," Ethan solemnly replied.

"Have you made your choice?" the Pokemon then questions.

"Huh?" Ethan raises his eyebrow at the Pokemon.

"Between them? I could gleam that much, despite the state I was in. A fun, satisfied state mind you, but still..."

"Both. I want both. I want them to fill the holes in my heart, my brain... my hate... my pain. I want to be able to enjoy coffee and unwind. I want to be able to let loose and go wild. I don't want to repeat the same mistakes I made with Avery or Leo!" Ethan exclaimed with determined resolve.

"Or the ones you made with me...?" Will asked bashfully.

Ethan looked downcast a little bit, before looking at the moon. Something seethed within him when William said that. Was it pain? Hunger? Or was it.... mourning? He was, after all, an artificial soul. His building blocks were built out of a boy who was in love with his best friend. And that best friend floated next to him as a ghost.

"Why don't you go pursue that guy from the party?" Ethan asked with a chuckle. "What was his name again... Hatchley?"

"I have absolutely no clue who or what you are talking about!" The Lampent exclaimed.

"Oh Will, you're still hopeless after all of these years," Ethan chuckled, finally giving off a real smile.

He then heard barking and saw Croissant running towards him. Trailing behind her was Crumpet, carrying a variety of goodies in his arms. The Granbull huffed, seeming a bit is done with all of the socializing his newfound partner was doing. Ethan smiled and looked towards the moon. If only Leo was here to see this.

"Under the Alolan Moon... May Lunala's light shine bright for you, wandering prince of dreams..." Ethan muttered.

"Did you say something?" Willaim asked him, a bit confused.

"No... Nothing important."

"Say, I wonder what Leo will think when he comes back," Willaim states. "His Pokemon have grown a lot... at least the ones he didn't take with him."

"I'm sure he's fine. He has Custard with him. Metatron chose that one for a reason, you know," Ethan told the Lampent.

"Who?" The Lampent looked at him puzzled.

"Ah! Sandy's older brother. He told me on a date one night... after I figured things out, that he sensed his brother's presence within the Togetic," he replied.

"Well, he also has the hat witch and her brother!" Custard then exclaimed.

"Right, did you ever get the chance to speak with her?"

"No."

"Will you?"

"Not sure."

The duo, trainer, and Pokemon. "Reincarnated" friends. Regardless of what you called them, continued to talk into the night. As the moon grew fuller still, the two dogs did their own rounds. Talked just like a long time ago. From another time. Another place. Before any of this had happened... Beneath snowy skies and mistletoe. The smell of hot chocolate soon wafted through the air around them... As the moon shone brightly onto Willaim, granting him a new power he knew not of. This year had endless possibilities at hand.

Raymond was unfamiliar was rather unfamiliar with festivals and holidays but was sure of one thing; they were weird and quite jovial. They began wandering the festival grounds with their most recent companion; a very excitable pup much to the discomfort of some of the humans and pokemon in the immediate area though the duo seemed unbothered or simply just did not notice.

Amongst the ground, something caught the schizoid's eyes as it bobbed through the crowd and maneuvered its way further away from the central plaza and festivities. The entity was a vibrant green and seemed fairly small in stature. Raymond decided to chase after the strange thing and began the harsh possess of wading through the ultimately oblivious crowd before turning down an alleyway. At the intersection, a green cotton-esk tail rounded a corner and a hard-ish thumping sound could be faintly heard.

Raymond's heart began to race with anticipation chasing after it rounding corner after corner before Echo and they were well and truly lost. Catching their breath; Raymond looked around and saw a beam of moonlight engulf a small wooden box with a strange green Buneary standing upon it staring up towards the moon. It looked over its shoulder and seemed to smile at the pair before waving at them. Not long after a blinding light overwhelmed Raymond's vision and where the bizarre bunny once stood sat a small collection of treasures and items.

Raymond approached cautiously and picked up a small figureine examining it. it was quite an odd piece resembling the Buneary dancing upon a flower with a small lump on the stem. the lump upon even closer inspection appeared to be a Flabébé. "Weird stuff... who made this and more pressingly why?"
Raymond continued to sift through the items and eventually store them before roaming the maze of building back toward the festivities. perhaps this was enough adventure for now.

Another year had come and gone, and Jess was once again back to pay traditional tribute to her ancestral heritage - as well as discover some new and different cultural customs to celebrate. Wandering the food stalls with her friends, she stopped to observe one where an elderly man and his Tinkaton were demonstrating how to pound mochi, the Trainer placing complete trust in his Pokémon as they matched each other's pace in perfect sync. Beside her, Atzu the Azumarill seemed fascinated by the process, so when the owner asked if any members from the audience would like to try, the bunny bounced excitedly to volunteer - simultaneously dragging a shyly reluctant Jess along.

To her other side, Royal the Carbink simply hovered in silence (seeing as he had no hands with which to wield the wooden mallet), watching the woman clumsily attempt to keep up with her eager partner's rate of speed and strength. Eventually they fell into a natural rhythm though, marveling as the sticky wet rice slowly mixed together into glutinous dough, which was then kneaded and molded into individual wads. Atzu proudly presented the first sample result to Roy as an apologetic reward for his patience, still warm and fresh from rolling. The rock rabbit delicately bit into the soft ball of sweetness, like a fluffy cloud matching his collar. While normally inscrutably expressionless, the Carbink's crystalline eyes seemed to shine brighter in response, and the three happily tucked in to enjoy the proud products of hard work...

...Elsewhere, Maple the Buneary and Mitsuki the Teddiursa were exploring the festive city together as well, when a glint of gold unexpectedly caught the bear's eye. Bending down to PICKUP the piece, she spotted a trail of coins leading between the booths, behind one of which a strange antenna poked out, belonging to some sort of small silver creature resembling an alien. It panicked upon noticing the pair, and suddenly scampered off amongst the stands. Curious, the two gave chase, like following the proverbial white rabbit along a winding path to Wonderland...

As luck would have it, the target brought them straight to the same kiosk their Trainer and teammates were gathered at. Scanning the area, Mitsuki paled upon recognizing the gremlin's probe poking out from the mortar itself, having selected to climb into the worst possible hiding place. The Tinkaton was already winding up her hammer to begin making another batch, and Maple covered her eyes with her ears in horrific anticipation as Mitsuki desperately stretched forward to strive and stop them before it was too late...

Just then, a flash of scarlet shot through the air, disrupting the pink pixie's line of sight and embedding directly into the barrel. Pausing trajectory mid-swing, she and the entire crowd glanced up to spy a mysterious masked silhouette standing atop a roof, black and red cape fluttering against the backdrop of a bright shimmering moon like a spotlight. The stranger smirked and tipped his top hat, then turned with a majestic whip of his mantle - before tripping magnificently over the bottom folds and tumbling out of sight into the shadows. Mitsuki winced in sympathy, but also sweated, unsure what to make of such a bizarre situation.

At the least, the distraction had given the Gimmighoul enough time to sheepishly clamber out of the bowl and scurry to safety; profusely bowing to the bear and proffering a red envelope in gratitude, which she politely took in both paws. Baffled, Jess checked around the back of the basin and stunned to see the projectile was a similarly crimson-colored rose, stem stuck deep within the wood somehow (much to the mochi master's disgruntlement)…

Even more puzzling though, was the fact there was even a full moon to begin with, for hadn't the sky been completely dark up to now? Upon gazing up again however, the whole group gasped as another glowing figure appeared: this time the familiar form of Raikou - no wait, an Arcanine - or was it a Copperajah? As the shapeshifting being descended, it transformed into a regal Wyrdeer, trotting to a halt in front of Maple, who marveled in awe to witness her own mirror image riding atop, fur tinged a rich hue of emerald. (Admiring almost with green-eyed envy herself.) The Jade Buneary bowed and graciously dropped off a brimming basket of gifts before its sister, smiling gently at the bear beside in an enigmatic manner as its steed switched once more, galloping off on a great beast of brown and gray into the night...

Drake sat back sipping some tea as his pokemon enjoyed the festivities. He was proud of how far they have all come with him. He was excited to finally welcome home the child of Wolfe and Cassie, and this festival is how he chose to celebrate it. With the Koda's hatching, Drake felt a stirring within. Something was changing him. He was growing and maturing and this time it didn't feel like it was forced or needed to. This change was something he grew into with the passing of the year.

Koda trodded over and came to lay in his lap as they watched the Hisuaian Arcanine dance across the sky. "Is that what I am going to grow into?" he asked his trainer, it was surprising, but also not that he had inherited his father's telepathic projection ability.
He stroked the hisuian growlithe in the same spot his father enjoyed and watched as the puppy pokemon practically melted in his lap. "Yes, someday you will evolve to be big and strong like your mother and father, but you will look like that"

He didn't want to think about making Koda evolve until the pup was ready. Only a few days old he was already mastering moves faster than his parents were at his age. Drake felt like a proud father. Or uncle? Proud Trainer. Thats what he was.

Koda was growing fast, and safely in a good environment with the safety nets Drake and his father never had. This year was bound to be a plentiful one.

While many in the region would use the events of the Lunar New year as a time of celebration, gazing towards a brighter future, there were also those who used the festivities as a time of reflection, looking back to the past and the history. There was of course plenty of opportunities for local merchants to give to the community as a whole, as the tendrils of capitalism caressed and wormed their way into almost everything these days, but that was an unfortunate reality. One such individual gazing at the scenery in reflection was a woman in her late twenties, who had taken some time away from the mainland to return to her ancestral home in the Arboreal Cradle. While the gates were still firmly sealed following the recent cataclysm, her northern settlement had mercifully avoided much of the conflict and the continent was slowly recovering. They were still closed to outsiders, but natives of the area were always welcome.

And so it was that she had returned to Fizzytopia and the new central city that was quickly beginning to supercede Yupien as the region's biggest. Last time she visited the city, her feathered friend had inconveniently damaged a sizable number of lanterns during the Year of the Raikou, and the pair of them spent much of the time sorting things out. Perhaps a bit too much time, for when she returned to an old friend's abode afterwards, she fell asleep very quickly. That Dartrix had done well however, the temperate air of Fizzytopia culminating in the bird's blossoming into a much more adept Decidueye of eld, based around close melee combat rather than long range and sporting a thick coat of feathers to keep the cold out. Not quite to the degree of the region's own divergent form, from what little she knew of them, but enough to shelter it from the crisp and cold air regardless. She gave a small sigh. The cold. Familiar and comforting, yet at the same time a reminder of what had been sacrificed to get to this stage.

She felt something small nudging her, followed by something a little larger giving her shoulder more of a prod, jostling her slightly. Ah, yes. During her travels, she encountered one rather unusually attired gentleman a couple years or so younger, who seemed a little lost on things. The two began discussing the recent events of the year, including the closure of the gym system in the region, and how things had became very quiet before the gentleman got round to the point: one of his pokemon didn't fit in, and he wanted her to train it up to try and keep its reprehensive nature at bay. Said pokemon currently stood there, eyes in a perpetual glare as the pig monkey gave a notion to the sky, then to their side, whereby the woman's confused stare softened immediately.

"Mama, can me and nee-nee go see bun-bun?"

"Of course, just let me get up first. You know mama needs to sit down every now and then," she replied to the subject in question, who was positively beaming as he gave a small cheer and scampered over to their own pokemon, the rock dino giving a grunt as thirty four inches of prepubescent terror immediately crawled onto their back. The Cranidos didn't complain too much about things, even as the youngster gripped its horns and squealed loudly far too close for comfort, for the fossil pokemon's hearing wasn't great at the best of times. The fighting pokemon stepped back as the woman grabbed her walking stick and clambered to her feet, limping slightly but putting on a brave face. The bun-bun in question sat atop what looked like a larger, older Stantler of sorts, likely one of those Wyrdeer things she had heard of, and as she watched the rock type wander up to it and her son happily receive some goodies from the rabbit, she once again was reminded that as painful as some memories can be, the good ones helped soothe the painful.

"And what of you, my patience tested companion? Perhaps after this we can find something to keep your rage in check to bring out your full potential," she remarked towards the Primeape, who looked at her with some curiosity. Wasn't this as far as his species got? Sure, there was that angry punch thing the snow cone taught him of, but that wasn't much to go off of. No, what she seemed to be insinuating was that she knew of something that could help. Help with the intense desire to hurt things. The fighting type rubbed his shoulder, remembering what happened the first time he met the child and dared to give the irritating tyke a kick. Who knew humans had the power to dislocate limbs?

The gaze was all the answer she required. "As expected. Once we've finished enjoying the night we can ask around for directions to that seaside town I've heard about. Seemingly there are residents there that may assist in this endeavour."

"Mama! Bun-bun gave me pretty boat and card! See?" The child had returned, small hands barely holding onto the traditional gold ingot and envelope. The Cranidos also seemed to have learned a new trick as it conjured a small mote of fey light that popped in front of it. The woman gave a small smile and held out her hand for the youngster.

"That's nice of them, Alli. Come, put them in mama's bag and gather your belongings while I call us an air taxi. We have a new destination in mind..."

Grabbing the above goodies. My level 1 Cranidos gets the levels and XM Moonblast.

Catharine was, for the most part, a bit lost as to the festival going on around her. Orre hadn't really observed this Lunar New Year, as far as she remembered. The ongoing struggle to establish a stable population of wild Pokémon and, consequently, eventually establish a formal League, had always been a bigger priority. Even as thoroughly sheltered as she had been, she had never seen anything like the "Jade Buneary" being spoken of. On top of that, she owned nothing even remotely like the outfits everyone but her seemed to be wearing. Sticking out like such a sore thumb, one might wonder why she was even here.

Still, she could grasp enough from context. Given that themes of good fortune pervades the festivities, Fortuna accompanied her, and one other thing seemed to be a fairly universal guidepost-food.

Earthquake, her other erstwhile companion, was actually safe to bring around large quantities of food for once. Ever since his evolution into Pupitar some time ago, his appetite had stopped being the voracious monster it had once been. In contrast, he now seemed loathe to eat more than was necessary for day to day function. For that, at least, she could be grateful-her petty cash was a lot less tight with the expense of high quality soil being far less recurring than before.

As the three walked, however, a quiet rustle from off the beaten path caught Catharine's attention. Before Catharine could really process it, however, Fortuna was already heading towards the source of the disturbance.

"Fortuna, wait! Don't wander off!" Catharine called after her Carbink. Earthquake grumbled, but followed, as quickly as a Pupitar could. The short chase led the three into a dense thicket of trees and shrubs, away from the rest of the festival action, with a faint pink glow emanating from within. Once Catharine and Earthquake caught up with Fortuna, however, they stared in awe of the source.

"My Lady! Are you certain it is wise to appear here?" Fortuna asked of Diancie. "Our enemies still seek your power, do they not?"

"Your concern is appreciated, Fortuna." Diancie replied. "But, this is not a matter of wisdom. This festival is meant to ward off ruinous evils of times long gone, ensuring the continued prosperity and fortune of people. Thus, it is my duty to assist in bringing these things to bear for all." she added. "And so, unto you, Fortuna, my servant, I bestow the blessing of the full moon's power-may it serve you well." she said, a pink glow surrounding herself and Fortuna both.

"My Lady! I am honored by your blessing. Thank you." Fortuna said, bowing her head...inasmuch as she could.

"And for you, Catharine, her protector...I cannot give you such power directly, but I hope these treasures serve you well." Diancie said, handing over what looked like a small sculpture of a boat, made of solid gold, with a bright red envelope tucked inside.

"Thank you kindly, Lady Diancie." Catharine said, accepting the tokens with a bow of her own. "If I may...I must insist you exercise great caution. We have reason to suspect that our adversaries may be a contingent of Team Plasma. If so...they are likely to be ruthless, cunning, and dangerously well-informed, with equally dangerous objectives. Assume the walls have ears." Catharine said.

"I will do so, Catharine. I appreciate the tip." Diancie replied. "It is best that I depart. Fare well, both of you." she said, before slipping away into the underbrush.

It was as the trio were exiting the small thicket and making their way back to the festival crowds that the Jade Buneary itself made its grand appearance. Catharine stared in awe as the mystical Buneary's mount changed shapes before her eyes. All of a sudden, the Buneary, and it's current mount, a Wyrdeer, Catharine recognized, alighted before her.

"You, with Fortune's blessings...I bestow upon you these treasures. Use them well in the days ahead." the Buneary said, handing over a sizable red bag. And just like that, the Buneary and it's mount bounded out of sight.

"...Thanks?" Catharine said lamely, a little thrown off by not getting the chance to respond.

The trio made their way to a table, to examine their new gifts. Catharine gingerly opened the red envelope, pocketing the money inside. The golden boat...she'd figure out what to do with that later.

Inside the bag, Catharine was very pleased to find the Moon Stone and Moon Ball, both rare and otherwise costly goodies. Earthquake, however, seemed motivated, managing to extricate the Zongzi and rice cake inside. Catharine smiled, happy that he was treating himself tonight.

"Go on-you can have them." Catharine said. Earthquake quickly gobbled both snacks down, though Catharine felt a pang of envy as she caught sight of the smoked Veluza filet inside the Zongzi-that would have been tasty.

"I'm full." Earthquake said simply once he had finished, before dozing off. Catharine grinned despite her sigh, and returned him. Typical Earthquake. At the bottom of the bag, however, was a curiously shaped figurine. It seemed to depict a lanky, blueish-purple Pokemon with a long feather reminiscent of a Sneasel's, running through tall grass. On its back, a white and gold basket carried a small depiction of the Jade Buneary. Catharine carefully stowed it away-this was a precious keepsake, for sure.

(OOC: time to get caught up on Fizzy stuff, and I figured I better knock this out first! Claiming:

x1 Zongzi, fed to Earthquake. It contained Smoked Filet-Earthquake learned EM Pursuit!
x1 Rice Cake, fed to Earthquake. Earthquake grew to Level 35!
x1 Heal Powder
x1 Energy Root
x1 Revival Herb
x1 Moon Stone
x1 Moon Ball
x1 Jade Buneary Figurine-it appears to depict the Jade Buneary riding with a Sneasler, and contains TM Trailblaze! Teaching TM Trailblaze to Gigabyte.

x1 Red Envelope, worth $500!
x1 Gold Sycee, to be used later.

Fortuna received the Full Moon's Blessing from Diancie! Fortuna gained 5 levels, being elevated to Level 6, and learned XM Moonblast!

And I think that's everything here! Now to catch up on the rest of everything...gulp. Still, thank you much for the event, Yuki!)

Gazing up at the same inn room ceiling but now a year older Rylie finds himself succumbing to a bit of melancholy as he thinks about the seemingly ever-faster rate at which time seems to pass.

But before Rylie's mood had proper time to sour a sound of crashes, shuffling feet, and the feint cries of a pokemon echo outside his room.

Remembering back to the previous year when similar noises meant his Furret Pecha was getting up to now good in his things and shuffling around their supplies Rylie bolts off the bed, opens the screen cordoning off his bed to notice Dizzaria, dancing around with a...green Buneary plushie?

Unsure when his Spinda got such a thing Rylie thinks through the situation before letting out an audible gasp before rushing to get ready. As he practically glides into his shoes he shouts "Quick Dizz, we're gonna be late for the festival!"

"Dizz" of course is literally a pokemon and does not really need to get ready as it stands and the Spinda simply gives a confused look at her trainer. "Right uhh, let's go...sorry"

As the two make their way out of the inn Ryie remembers he should probably make sure some of his less than well-behaved pokemon don't get into too much trouble while they're gone and tosses open a pokeball back into the room releasing a Dunsparce "Mr.Sparce you're in charge, make sure Pecha doesn't steal anything and that Cutiefly stays out of the mini bar!"

With Mr.Sparce having waved them off with a shake of his wings Dizzaria and Rylie make their way down to the town below.

Arriving a bit late to the festivities Rylie and Dizzaria enjoy the shortened lines of attractions and stalls that the majority of celebrants have already passed through and by, the pair having ended a shopping spree with a variety of herbs, foodstuffs, and a strange golden souvenir.

Happy with their haul the pair join the crowd in the town center just as Raikou's roar heralds the coming of the legendary Jade Bunneary who appears aboard a shining gold Drampa, the pair dancing throughout the air above the crowd as Dizzaria simply gazes on in awe at the dazzling duo who proceed to shower everyone in Red Envelopes before Flying off towards the moon, letting off a trail of glittering energy off in their wake.

Gazing down at Dizzaria Rylie notices a huge smile on the Spinda's face as well as a peculiar change to the Jade Buneary they're holding, it now appearing aboard a shiny Drampa as well, perhaps a good omen for this year and the next.

The previous year had been… slow for the Crystalline Cathedral. With the wellsprings of Dynamax energy dying down- hopefully for good- the structures denizens had chosen to eschew adventure in favor of simply reconnecting with each other. Loathe as they may have been to admit it before, the trials of Dialga’s Gate had shaken them in ways that took more than just maintaining the status quo could fix.

Perhaps that was why Amicae’s appearance towards the end of the New Year’s celebrations had been such a surprise for many. She arrived with her trusty swoobats by her side just after the year had been officially rung, but determined not to let that stop her from enjoying the festivities that were still left.

“Here’s to a year of safe, yet exciting adventures!” The girl and her pair of Courting Pokemon shared a toast over the strange Jade Buneary figurine they had picked up at a nearby stand. “It’ll take some careful choosing, of course, but I’m sure we can pull it off.”

Her first pokemon chittered an excited response before flying up to circle the moon. Perhaps, if she still yet cared for the people of this land, would that goddess deign to bless their path just as she had all those generations ago?

The moon was starting to dip in the sky, its cold light the only reminder that any events had taken place here. The festival had ended hours ago, and the once-vibrant venue was dark and sullen. Very few patrons stuck around this long, unless they'd drunk too much and passed out, so Dracen's casual stroll through the place attracted a few funny looks from the folks working to clean up all the decorations. He waved amiably at them and kept walking until he'd found a spot large enough. He unclipped several Poke Balls from his belt and turned their occupants loose, smiling as a small army of Pokemon hit the stony floor. He stretched and yawned dramatically, then addressed his waiting 'Mons.
"Aaalright. I'm not much for parties or holidays or that, but I do like gifts, and apparently there was a magical dropping-off of a bunch of 'em earlier tonight. I just dunno where they are, is the thing. That's where you guys come in - A search party of sorts, yeah?" He said, earning a derisive snort from Carnage as she wrinkled her snout at him. He shrugged apologetically. "Hey, I know it's a bit selfish, but honestly I'd rather deal with the guilt of that than have to socialize with other people." He gave another huge yawn, then clapped his hands briskly. "So let's get moving! There're items to grab!"

Gabite sniffed the air, trying to follow that scent. It was difficult to track down anything, though, with a Rufflet sitting on your head who really wasn't helping.
Man, this is so contrived. Trouble chirped with a distinct tinge of snark. I mean come on, how are there just going to be convenient items laying around that just happen to line up with the same ones everyone else got? It's ridiculous! And before you chime in- He knocked on Gabite's skull with one talon. I'm taking anything you say as a Watsonian explanation, aka bullshit. This is the hand of the writer at its finest. Must I go along with this contrivance?! He squawked the last line at the top of his lungs, glaring up at the sky for no apparent reason. Gabite sighed and shook his head, wobbling the little bird off-balance. No time to entertain Trouble's odd delusions- They were close now. Gabite lifted his nose again, reveling slightly in the ease at which his evolution let him do so. The smell was thick in the air now. There was no way he could miss where it was coming from - and aha, there it was! A plate of treats, left out in the dark with no one to claim them! He broke into a sprint to snatch up the food, leaving Trouble to fall from his perch on the Dragon and furiously flapping his tiny wings to catch up. Gabite hefted the tray and inspected the contents, trying to stop himself from eating them then and there. There was some kind of delicious-looking Rice Cake, some sweet-smelling little thing labelled Zongzi, and a small side salad of bitter herbs- a Revival Herb and Energy Root, specifically. Trouble scoffed at this arrangement, muttering something about unrealistic writing, but Gabite ignored him. He tucked the treats under his tail fin for safekeeping, then hurried off back toward his Trainer. Trouble flapped lazily after him, rolling his eyes. Exit stage left...

Statues. Statues and little shrines everywhere. Dart leaned out and tried to pick up a small candleholder, marveling in its sheen and wonderful reflective curve that caught the moonlight perfectly. A sharp tail smacked down on his hand and he jumped back, hissing. Carnage glared him down, her springy tail still coiled over her head like a scorpion's - a rather amusing display with the body type of a Silicobra, if you asked Dart. It left her resting her chin on the ground below, which sort of ruined any intimidation, but she didn't seem to notice.
We aren't here to steal random junk, you absurd little reptile. She said haughtily. We have a mission.
Dart decided not to mention the fact that they were all reptiles, instead only looking at her quizzically. Not here to steal? Isn't that exactly what Dracen asked us to do, though?
She gave him a withering look. No, he asked us to find any gifts that haven't been claimed. We're only taking what no one else wanted.
Dart blinked at her. [I]What's the difference?[I]
Carnage inhaled with great irritation, but was spared having to continue the conversation by Solaix's call from her position up ahead. Hey! You two, quit sniping at each other and get over here, I think I found something! The little Helioptile's face popped into view from around a statue, and she beckoned them with one arm. Carnage gave Dart a harsh look that he gladly returned, if only after she had turned away and slithered off ahead.
Indeed, Solaix had found a proper little jackpot. Dropped carelessly between some moon-shaped décor was a small box, which Dart removed neatly after slipping into the cramped little space. He scampered back out and hung off a statue, his tongue flicking with excitement. What's in there what's in there what's in there?! Solaix gave him an amused glance, then flicked open the box and checked inside. Some kind of figurine, a Pokeball, a rock, and a bunch of this dusty stuff that smells awful. She said idly. Doesn't seem worth much, but we should take it back to Dracen anyway.
Disappointed, Dart checked the box himself. Sure enough, the contents were somewhat pathetic-looking: a Jade Buneary statue, a Moon Ball and Moon Stone, and a pile of Heal Powder that made Dart's nose itch. He thought wistfully of the candleholder. Fine, he said,
Let's get it back then, if we must.

It's beautiful out tonight, isn't it? Mimsy said, the silvery light of the moon reflected in her eyes. She gazed at it, floating slowly along, until a cloud drifted over it and she shook herself. She spotted Asta several paces ahead and hurried to catch up. [I]S-sorry. I got distracted...[I] She said. Asta grinned at her. Yeah, I saw. Don't worry, I got us. I can search enough for two, so you do whatever you want! She pulled Mimsy in with one arm, almost carrying her along as their search carried them towards a large stone bridge. Mimsy couldn't stop the flush of red that crept up her face, despite having been with Asta for months now. She cuddled in closer to her girlfriend and tried to breathe slowly, evenly, like Asta had taught her. It didn't much help, but it gave her something to occupy her mind. As the pair reached the middle of the arching bridge, Mimsy twisted out of Asta's grip and flew up to rest on her shoulders instead, coiling her tail in and somewhat awkwardly bonking her head fin with one of Asta's tusks - which she guessed was close enough to nuzzling. She had only just settled enough to try and sleep when she felt a blast of chill wind that startled her awake. She shivered violently, and Asta glanced sideways at her, confused.
You didn't feel that? Mimsy asked. Asta shook her head and opened her mouth to respond, when the bridge around suddenly creaked ominously and ice began to crawl over its stones. What the- Asta backpedaled away from the ice as it spread over the bridge, reflecting the moonlight oddly. With a start she realized Mimsy was no longer resting on her, and she whipped around, ready to fight anything that would dare hurt her-
Mimsy hovered quietly, looking up. In front of the moon, its front hooves floating just above the stones of the bridge, was an enormous Pokemon. It was the searing, ruthless white of a blizzard, with its face and limbs obscured by glowing spires of ice. A single bright eye stared down at them imperiously.
Mimsy shuddered. Gl-Glastrier... She stammered, her breath clouding out before her. The horse Pokemon reared, neighing ferociously with a sound like shattering ice. Its hooves landed at last on the bridge, sending another wave of cold out, and it bowed low. Mimsy and Asta stared in bewilderment.
Atop the back of the Legendary Pokemon was a tiny green Buneary, grinning cheekily at them. It waved, then tossed a red envelope with a heart-shaped sticker on it at them. It saluted the baffled pair and patted its mount, which abruptly exploded in a showering of ice crystals. Mimsy squeaked and covered her eyes - and when she peeked out again, the Buneary was flying off towards the moon, somehow riding a Noivern. Glastrier was nowhere to be seen.
Asta blinked several times fast. Had that actually happened? She rubbed her eyes, suddenly feeling very tired. She looked around for Mimsy and found her floating up from where the Buneary had been, holding the envelope and surrounded by other items. She glanced down at it wonderingly. It seems... It seems fate has smiled upon us in the most literal of ways.

Claiming my gifts at the absolute last moment, including the optional ones. Thanks for the event and sorry for being this late!
