"Guess I might as well call myself the standing post trainer now," he chuckled to himself before gently scooping the Nymble off his head, somehow managing to not knock off either Halazia or Volkano. Bringing her down to eye level, the Nymble was small enough to fit into just one of his hands. Karmas had always had a bit of an affinity for bugs, ever since he had caught Dot all those years ago. Reaching into his messenger bad, Karmas pulled out his last Poke Ball and gently touched the ball to his new partner's head. The Nymble turned into energy and was sucked into the ball. It immediately made a click to signify that the Nymble was officially considered to be caught. Claiming my Lv 1 Female Nymble, putting her in my last Poke Ball (3 of 3), and grabbing my Tera Orb

Almost instinctively, the little Tinkatink raised her rattle, then swung it down on the Gallade’s toes. Rags shot up, clutching his foot in pain as he failed to hold back a cry. The Tinkatink giggled and Scraps gave a chuckle of his own, though not long thereafter the Tinkatink took an interest in the Lucario’s feet instead; ones which were a curious black as opposed to white. The little pink Pokémon smacked her rattle decisively into Scraps’ toes who gave a howl of his own while hopping away on one foot. Her giggling got louder as she delighted herself over the game of whack-a-toe. The Gallade took his second chance to bow down over the Tinkatink and explain why she should stop. She, however, seemed completely oblivious to him and what he had to say, focussing instead on his toes which were beckoning to be walloped over and over for her amusement. She raised her rattle once more, then Scraps took his chance. He closed in behind her and nicked the rattle right as she was about to bring it down. The little Pokémon stared at the uninjured foot, then at her empty hand, and started crying. “Don’t look at me,” Lucas shot his Pokémon when they glanced to him for help. “You wanted the egg, you’re looking after it.” It was the first time Lucas saw a hint of animosity directed at him from his Gallade. The two Fighting-types made an attempt at consoling the Tinkatink, but with nothing else immediately working the Lucario handed the metal rattle back, hoping she had on some level understood why it was taken from her. She did not. For the next few minutes an intermittent medley spread over the altar grounds of Pokémon cries and howls. Glancing behind, Lucas saw the egg from before and was momentarily worried a second egg was going to force himself in the care of his Pokémon. It was then he saw that the egg had obtained a helmet of sorts. He squinted at the rapidly approaching egg and with astonished realisation said out loud: “Is that a Pyukumuku?” It was indeed. This was the first Lucas had seen the fabled creature himself. He barely had a good a look at it though as the Pokémon rode past him at high speed atop the egg. As soon as the Springtide Pyukumuku came, it left again, leaving behind only a strange gem. Lucas picked it up with uncertainty, not quite sure what it was or what it was for. This would be something new he would have to look into. Behind him, Lucas heard the continued kibbling of his Pokémon. He sighed and blindly reached into his bag to pull out a Pokéball. “You’ll do nicely he said,” as he tossed the 2013 New Years ball at the Tinkatink. “A decade is a perfect moment to make use of one finally.” The Pokéball made contact with the Fairy type, and without any hassle she was taken and caught inside, the New Years ball giving a confirming click almost instantly after closing. Rags and Scraps took some reprieve to rub their toes, but they would soon have to get back up. “Come on,” Lucas said. “There’s some people we need to visit.” (Thank you for the short adventure KS! and thank you for your swiftness in updating.)

"...but it looks so comfy there. Too comfy!" Mélina thought aloud, as if answering the forces in the abandoned house. "I think we should leave it here in peace. Perhaps we can go somewhere else?" Rosie neighed happily, who's just glad she gets to explore around - no matter where they are. The young woman decided she needed to get somewhere more nature-y, to change scenery from the abandoned house. She was also getting hungry, so maybe she could forage a snack? As soon as that thought went through her mind, the Galarian Ponyta's stomach growled loudly, almost startling the pony. Looks like she was starving too. There is only one place in both their minds that could fulfill both those needs: Berry Tree Canopy. It has berry right in the name, so surely they can eat a few! ...Given of course they can identify them; Mélina did not want to land in the hospital for eating an unidentified poisonous berry. She probably would need to keep a close eye on Rosie though, as she's worried her enthusiasm will make her too eager to just gobble down anything she deems edible... |

"Not kidding. We had to search the whole volcano. Got stuck a few times, nearly died toward the end... Heh. Quite the start to my adventures here, I suppose. But it was worth it - ten times over." Dracen reached up to pat the Centiskorch's head, and Myris obligingly leaned down and tempered his flaming antenna to a human-friendly range. "I'd search a hundred volcanos for ya, buddy." Dracen said earnestly, and Myris crackled affectionately in response, nudging Dracen's forehead with his own. Perhaps it was the warmth of Myris' fire, or the feeling of togetherness that drew the egg. With an agonizing-sounding crrreeaaaak, the egg tipped over, starting a shift in momentum that would soon be unstoppable. It tumbled down the side of the cliff from its hidden home, shearing off huge chunks of stone as it did and starting a veritable avalanche that fell upon Dracen and Myris like a flock of starving Aerodactyl. Myris noticed first - He whipped his tail around and coiled around Dracen, trying to shield him from the rocks. "What the- " Dracen followed Myris' fearful gaze upwards and sprang into action. "Get back! Your Rock weakness - it's too dangerous!" He shoved at Myris, who hissed defiantly. The first block of stone hit the gravelly beach and shattered, sending razor shards hurtling in all directions. Myris jerked back, making an odd sort of pained whistling. Dracen finally got free of his coils, and in the blink of an eye three Poke Balls were flying into the air. "Har'omer, Rock Smash! Kaua, Protect! Honedge, Wide Guard- light of Arceus!" Dracen's orders were cut off by a three-inch spear of rock slamming into his shoulder, knocking him flat on the ground. He'd been fast enough, though: As the trio of Rock-resistant battlers hit the field, they fired off their moves instantly, and pushed the oncoming tide of stone back on itself. In moments, the now-quintet was merely surrounded by dust and piles of what was once a cliff face. And, well, something else. Honedge struggled to hold its Wide Guard as a final rock-that-wasn't-a-rock plummeted into it, pinging off the Steel-Type's barrier and thudding to a stop in front of Dracen with a smug sort of finality. Dracen heaved a breath in, and, to everyone's surprise, immediately started laughing. "And to think I could visit this place peacefully! Agh, Arceus' droppings that hurts. It just isn't Springtide if you're not almost dead by the end of it, huh?" He shakily took his last Poke Ball from his belt with his good arm, and out of it popped a rather confused Goop Dogg, who adjusted his shades and looked up at the situation around him quizzically. "Hey, Goop. Ah- Life Dew, if you would?" Dracen asked wearily, and the Goomy complied with a wave of his horns, leaving everyone mostly alright. Dracen sat forward with a wince, nodding thankfully at Goop despite the rock still lodged in his shoulder, before finally noticing the egg before him. At this point, most of the group was staring at it, save Goop Dogg, Myris and Honedge. Dracen shook his head. "An egg literally falling out of the sky?" He kneeled in front of the egg and set one hand on it. The egg made an odd sort of crumbling noise, and rocked angrily back and forth. Dracen gave it an appraising look. "Well, if it got caught in that avalanche and survived, it must be pretty tough. And if Springtide is so determined to send me to the Distortion World, maybe I shouldn't spend the whole day here this time..." He sat and examined it a moment. It was, all things considered, a ridiculously large egg. It had rough, squarish blotches on its orangey surface, and much of the cream section was pockmarked with small scratch-like green marks that sort of looked like hair. As Dracen sat indecisively, he heard Myris' rumbling footsteps as the huge Bug approached the egg at last. Myris looked at the egg, then at the body segment that had been hit by stone shrapnel- One leg had broken clean off at the shoulder, and a long scratch sliced through the circular marking on his underbelly. He flicked his eyes to Dracen, hoodie still ripped from his own shoulder injury, then back to the egg. Then, to the shock of the entire rest of the assembled group, Myris... bowed to the egg! Insofar as a centipede could bow, of course. He held the odd curving pose for several seconds before fixing Dracen with a blistering stare. Dracen grinned back at him, unaffected by the attempt at intimidation. "Yeah, me too, buddy. It may have been short, but this trip has been no less eventful than my last. C'mon, let's wrap it up and get some real medicine." The egg shifted slightly, as though agreeing itself. Myris kept his eyes glued to it as Dracen and Kaua heaved it out of the crater it had left in the shore, and up onto Myris' back. The Centiskorch wrapped the end of his tail around it for safety, still stiffly looking at it with a spark in his eyes of something akin to respect. Dracen recalled the three Dragons, scratched his head for a moment as to where Honedge could be, then shrugged and began heading back to their icy "boat" with Myris and the egg in tow. The egg twisted in Myris' firm coil, and he shifted his grasp to adjust. "Such destruction, caused by a creature not even aware of itself yet. This chaos, this anger, burned into its instincts - no, its very soul. The potential is great, and the risk of it going wrong is even greater. I must be very careful..." TL;DR: I'll be taking this egg, thanks. And heartily! Last edited by sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat; 01-21-2023 at 08:53 PM. |

“Wha—hey! When did this get here?” The commotion brought Hyrem's attention towards a hair care product stall (and the MANY strong fragrances that come with such a stall), the employee pulling a blue and white egg out from among the bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Without that outburst just now, it would have been easy to assume the stylist was caring for the egg due to how clean it was. Having stopped at the stall, Hyrem was soon noticed by this stylist who said, “I don’t really know what to do with this... would you mind taking it off my hands?” He looked at the egg and smiled, noticing a curious movement next to him as the egg was offered. "Sure thing!" he replied, accepting the egg and pulling it away just as a lunging Dunsparce flew between them with his mouth open, thankfully angled away from the stall as he crashed into the open road. "Nice try, Charlie, I saw you eyeing this egg! Now let's go get you something you can actually eat since you're clearly not full yet." With that, he began to lead his Dunsparce away from the stall they found the egg at to avoid further incident there, keeping a close eye on Charlie as he walked; he was sure he saw that tail of his spin in a peculiar manner before it propelled him towards the egg...

After exploring the area up and down, Swift quickly got Bill's attention causing a big scene within one of the pools. The trainer walked over to to where the fish Pokemon was making a ruckus to find what it saw, an egg. The markings on it looked very sleek and nice, Bill ultimately decided to leave it be, especially since the prescene within the egg seemed to be afraid of both the trainer and the purple-shelled fish with how much shivering it was doing. "Sorry, Swift," Bill said. "Maybe we should head down the river to see if we can find something else instead." The Finneon had a bit of frustration in its look but ultimately concluded that yeah the egg probably would not be happy with this team, the two followed the watery stream to its logical conclusion all the while Swift kept an eye out for any other treasures or eggs alike. Lucia grumbles to herself as she weaved through the dense forest complaining about their current predicament and the stupidity of the "magic of spacetime or whatever" making little notice of the passing scenery until the world suddenly became blindingly bright and breezier. After allowing her eyes to adjust to the blinding rays of sunlight; Lucia is met with a breathtaking view of tons of rich vibrant multicolored flowers that have been largely untouched by humans for quite some time presumably. As the wind glided along the top of the meadow a small torrent of petals come flying along with it forming a cyclone of potpourri and getting swept into the distance. The grove was of considerable size and featured small lady hills filled with flowers and clover on a more central hill sat a series of pink and yellowish-white flowers with 5 petals and on another hill clusters of multicolored roses. The majesty of this place could hardly be described by mere words and a picture would surely not do it justice. It was about the experience and the aroma. One could probably scour every square inch of this place and still find new flora. Lucia meaders through the clearing almost forgetting about their purpose and eventually finds herself staring down at a clearly disturbed flowerbed starring at a predominantly light greed egg with a dark green pattern on it that could be best described as two distinctively different tree leaves outlined adding up to a total of nine endpoints, four pointing up and five pointing down. What does Lucia do?

A lovely picnic
Quote:
Speaking of... Leading the charge was a small, strangely hairless, Poochyena named Mika who was sticking his nose into every nook and cranny in search of a Pokemon Egg. Close behind him was Helena the Houndour who was trying to herd the energetic pooch around to keep, just barely managing to keep him in Annahime's sight. Bringing up the rear was a skittish-looking Absol by the name of Spooky. Who constantly seemed to have his head on a swivel. As always, he was on the lookout for anything coming up that could turn the day into a sudden disaster. Annahime paused for a moment to look out at the ocean, a warm smile forming on her face. She ran her finger's through her Ninetales-self's fur before carrying on. She was content to let the pups up ahead lead the way. Well, at least until she found the perfect picnic spot. Thankfully, such a spot didn't take much longer to appear. Just up ahead was a small indent in the cliff that offered shelter from the wind and was on relatively flat ground. Judging by the scents around... and more so the scraps of litter on the grass... this spot had seen a lot of recent use. Letting the hiking pack slip off her back and onto the ground, Annahime called the pups over before setting up the simple fold-up table she had been lugging around. Next, she draped a simple red tablecloth over it. As soon as that was done, her Ninetales-self got to work unpacking the various sandwich supplies that had been bought at the Harborside Market. With the scent of food and lunchmeats hitting the air, the pups were quick to gather around- their tails wagging eagerly. Breathing out a sigh of amusement, Annahime let out the last two members of her pack that she had brought along- Sasha the Litten and Alexander the Riolu. The smell of the food quickly drew their attention as well. While waiting for everything to be ready, Annahime busied herself with picking up the scattered pieces of litter that has been disrespectfully and/or carelessly left behind by others. After a while, all the the food supplies unpacked were unpacked and laid out neatly. The now empty picnic basket left to sit at the foot of the table. Next, everyone turned their attention towards the Paldean tradition of sandwich making- namely trying not to mess it up. If that was the goal however, then letting each Pokemon pick out their sandwich ingredients probably wasn't the way to go around it. More than a few slices of lunchmeat and sliced vegetables managed to spill onto the table and even the grass below. Thankfully, there was hungry pokemon who were quick not to let a single piece of food go to waste. (Though, how was one supposed to include an entire sausage in the sandwich without messing it up??) A good half hour later, the picnic was well under way with every Pokemon seated on the benches of the picnic table (which took a not insignificant amount of wrangling). After a brief pause, Annahime spoke up and said, "Okay, let's eat!". With that, the meal got properly underway...

Jahotsafits - Leaving the boiling egg to incubate atop the rock, you decide that your journey will go on. After all, there is yet more along this rocky trail to explore, and so keeping your options open may prove fruitful.
Frigid winds nip at your skin as you descend the opposite face of the mountain. Gazing off into the distant plain below, you see a forest blanketed with snow, seemingly in conflict with the volcano’s scorching climate—and yet, the volcano’s very existence is the cause. By siphoning away moisture from passing clouds, this northerly region has become barren and icy. But your final destination isn't amidst snow-covered woodland. A cavernous maw catches your eye, and upon venturing too close, the trap is sprung! In mere moments, you feel yourself falling deep within the earth, stewarded by a glacial slide! Dodging icy spires with what little control you have, the ride lasts only for a minute before you’re deposited into a dark basin—in one piece, but horribly lost. Dusting the snow off your body, you notice that the cavern you’ve fallen into is almost completely enshrouded in ice. The air is stagnant and terribly cold—it may just be that you are the only living thing down here, in this place where time has ceased to flow... But wait—what’s that? You round a corner, and spot a pale glow reflected upon the wall. The source seems to be buried beneath a snow pile, what little bit of it sticking out producing that alluring light. You approach it cautiously, but you can feel your body getting heavier with each stop forward. Did the fall injure you, or is this the effect of something else? Brushing away the snow, you find that your beacon is none other than a Pokemon egg. You get a gander at its bone-white and purple pattern for a moment, but as if reacting to your dwindling body heat, it begins to hatch before you! Paws covered in shaggy fur bust through the shell, and out from the egg emerges a Male Greavard with the EM Howl! The Pokemon lets out a hollow bark and dances around you, an eerie flame flickering atop its head. Just then, you hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the cave! A Cyclizar races through the icy cave, skidding to a stop before you with Pyukumuku sitting in the saddle, and a sled trailing behind it. Seems they’re here to rescue you after your tumble into the caves! The sea cucumber Pokemon extends its hand-like innards to you, and drops a shining Tera Orb into your palms. Looks like you’ve successfully reached the end of your Egg Hunt! Gemini Spark - Just being near the stall is like experiencing a cocophancy for the nose. Floral, earthy, spicy and fresh—all the different axis’ on the fragrance compass are spinning round and round as they compete for your attention, producing a truly dizzying mixture of scents. The fact that someone can work under these conditions at all is almost hard to believe, and yet here the owner is, offering you an egg that seems right at home in an ocean of hair gel. And, of course, you see no reason to turn down the offer! Taking the surprisingly heavy egg in your hands, your Pokemon predictably starts trying to snatch it from you. Dunsparce lunges, but you quickly move out of the snake’s trajectory and deny him a chance to make a snack out of your new prize. Even so, your Pokemon is persistent. You try to keep an eye on him, but before Charlie can make another move, you feel the egg start shaking in your arms! Cracks begin to form along the shell as the Pokemon inside chisels its way out, until finally a bright yellow beak breaks through! As the rest of the egg falls to pieces, you find that you’re now the proud owner of a Male Quaxly! The Water-type uses his feathers like a comb to tidy his massive pompadour, before wagging a finger at Dunspace, chastising Charlie for trying to snack on him before he could hatch Vrr... Vrr! the sound of Cyclizar’s trill races through the marketplace! Pyukumuku appears, riding atop their scaly steed to congratulate you for finishing the Egg Hunt! The Pokemon hands you a sparkling Tera Orb, before taking the reins of their mount and riding off into the sunset... Raves - As you reach your next destination, your distaste for what you see before you isn’t just plain, it’s palpable. The current state of the shrine awakens a special kind of ire within you, like a car engine being forced to burn diesel. Every piece of mechanical memorabilia that covers the shrine only deepens the pool of your revulsion towards the maddening malefactor that decided this was a good way to honor the region’s icons. Despite your strong emotions, however, this is still a research trip, and there is much to look into here. What bits of the monument you can see underneath all the commercialized crap are, indeed, marvelous in nature. Though the descriptions given in the Scarlet and Violet Book, respectively, are fleeting in detail, these statues are nonetheless the spitting image of the Pokemon that were eventually brought forth from distant times. Unfortunately, your focus on your research is oft interrupted by the pollutant nature of the crowd around you. The noise, the crowding—especially this noxious smell, which seems to be coming from a gang of cyclists racing their motorcycles across the plain in order to determine who has the finest-tuned machine on the island. It’s like this place is expressly designed to keep you from studying it too closely... As you attempt to move some junk around to get a better view of the shrine’s stonework, however, you notice something’s been tucked away: A Pokemon egg, with a gray top, black base, and a ring of purple splotches around its body. Then it hits you—this thing smells horrible, like it’s filled with naught but engine exhaust and burning coals. Do you take this egg? Blu3shift - You’ve stumbled upon someone, or something, and naturally that means there’s a mystery afoot—and you’re determined to solve it! Leaving the egg behind to (potentially) find its home with someone else, you set your sights on the hexagonal building off in the distance, and sprint off towards it. The smell of corroding metal and musty, humid air hits your nostrils as you enter the base. Everything indeed abandoned, but was it always in this state? When was it cleared out, and why? It seems in your search for answers, you’ve stumbled into an even deeper web of mysteries... perhaps ones that you shouldn’t be asking, judging by the rather foreboding look of this place. Regardless, there is a button to be pressed, and by Arceus you’re going to press it. In an instant, the entire building seems to transport itself elsewhere, and you stumble out of the research station into what seems almost like another world entirely... The cavern before you is lined with crystalline structures, each alighting in all the colors of the rainbow. Prismatic patterns dance across the bedrock halls, reflecting what little sunlight bleeds through the pool of mist that enshrouds the cavern ceiling—a barrier of sorts, keeping those who aren’t ready to brave these depths at bay. That feeling of forbiddance looms over your shoulders, but you aren’t about to leave yet. Curiosity drove you here, and it won’t be sated until you’ve at least given the place a once-over. As you descend further into the cave—careful not to cut yourself on the sharp crystals eating away at the rock and foliage—you notice something glimmering in the distance. Approaching it, you see that something has been cached inside a small, rocky nook. Though it looks like a lifeless crystal at first, drawing near reveals its true nature as a Pokemon egg, with a lavender shell topped with dark blue “petals”, which seem to shimmer iridescently as the light hits it at different angles. Will you take this egg?

Elijah stared at the egg-shaped mineral. Or was it a mineral-shaped egg? He could never tell with this backwards island. It looked enticing at first, yes, but something about it radiated power that seemed like he was too weak to comprehend, even if he hadn't been able to comprehend a single thing since he got tangled up in this "trainer" mess in the first place. But this? This felt wrong. He knew when something felt very deeply, steadily wrong. A pit in his stomach, his entire body trembling. Whatever that egg contained didn't deserve him. To be fair, nothing deserved him, but this especially didn't seem like a good idea. So he retreated back to the facility. Or at least tried to. He could barely see through the fog, and the crystals that grew like stalagmites seemed nearly invisible at times. He couldn't tell where he was going, just picking a direction that seemed like the right way and praying. He tripped over something on the ground that he couldn't see, falling over headfirst but thankfully catching himself with his arms before he smashed himself against the cavern's floor. Too dangerous. He needed a light or a map or something, neither of which he had. Blaming himself for testing fate, he picked himself up and carried on, a little more careful of what was ahead of him. Hopefully he'd at least find something important in here.

--- The igneous nature of the coastline confirmed the isle's volcanic nature, though what format of volcano the Pyukumuku resides on is a subject of considerable interest. Our next location would reside within the depths of the vast cavern systems of the isle, yet our sojourn around and upon the volcano provides us with an elegant and simple answer to the mystery: it is a naturalised lava dome, the rock possessing an acidic nature that gives it considerable viscosity, while at the same time possessing a somewhat balanced shape resembling a steep shield formation. Such volcanic structures stand the test of time, unaffected by the likes of powerful pokemon such as the beast of fire called Entei, whose speculated affinity with eruptions is thought by many to be mere coincidence, and in no way related to Heatran, which are predominantly locate within the confines of the steep and aggressive cinder cone category of volcano. A simple study of the volcano, yet others within the Springtide Archipelago follow the cinder cone design, which gives credence to the theory that the isle resides on a spacial gate. --- The path into the caverns beneath the outskirts of the volcano is not a particularly dangerous descent, though our experience certainly proves that difficulty and danger are not mutually exclusive. These particular caverns lead away from the volcano towards the shoreline, and were a recent discovery by some of the isle's local population, who in their blind desire for trinkets to flog to unsuspecting visitors had uncovered a veritable grotto of crystalline structures. Our entryway into the grotto differs from the unnatural entryway formed by whatever forces are behind the Gate, what our sources discerned as a particularly large crystal falling from the skies above and puncturing a hole in the crust of Springtide Isle. Such unnatural phenomena are apparently commonplace on this isle, as expected from the thesis of the Spacial Gate, and indeed our studies of the grotto's geology reveal a vast assortment of gems that would be found in different regions of the world, all formed within this network of caverns. The giant crystal structure was of interest, but the Cyclizar seemed to react aggressively on our attempts to study it, and thus we can only speculate on its origins. Even so, we cannot confirm anything, for this object remains alien, even to our sophisticated devices. Addendum: return to the impact site next year, even if access to the isle must be made discreetly. If this crystal is what our hypothesis suggests... --- Continuing our journey and research through the isle, the cave complex and temperature both sank as we approached the outer reaches of the isle. The caverns of ice held little of interest to us, as much of our examination revealed nothing out of the ordinary compared to the rest of the isle. Frozen caves are a common occurrence, with the deep conditions and sources of water combined with the tendency of ice type pokemon to congregate around isolated locations proving once more that for all of nature's oddities, there are some subjects that remain constant. The only point of interest regarding the ice caverns, aside from the roaring waterfalls nearby, are the different layers of ice forming on the walls and ceiling, with each layer intermixed in terms of age. Some of the oldest ice laying atop ice that has formed a matter of months ago, though this can be explained by glacial theory. Perhaps during the colder months and the instances of the neighbouring Isle of Always Winter's frigid windstorms coating the isle in snow did the cliffs of the volcano form a makeshift glacier which emptied into the caverns. --- Our penultimate stop in our study of the Springtide Isle comes in the form of the river and waterfalls which empty out into the beachfront of Springtide Isle. Considered by the locals as the most beautiful spot in the isle, the waterfalls and views from the pools stand in stark contrast to the aberration that stands on the other side of the volcano, and it is here on the cliffs that we can truly appreciate the Spacial Gate theory in its splendour. The erosion of the cliffs gives us an incredible glance at the many mixtures of rock formation on the isle, with the sedimentary and igneous formations on the strata in plain sight. Indeed, our procured sampled saw no requirement to drill for cores, nor to blast any of the beauty spot's faces, and as we ventured to the shoreline the waters gradual change in colour and hue continued to confirm the peoples' viewpoint. For us to continue a specimen search in this area would be anathema to its pristine nature, even as we reached the beachfront and stood on its bleached grains. Springtide Isle's holiday beaches in comparison to its naturalized shoreline are tainted with discarded detritus and unsightly parasols, and as we stood upon the shoreline and watched as the sun in the sky began its gentle descent, the sky lighting up in tangerine hue, we recalled that our need of a suitable specimen was still to be confirmed, and that time was of the essence. --- By the time we returned to the unsightly shrine, much of the noise had dissipated as our hypothesis that the rabble would clear off held fruit. The statues remained terribly defaced, yet our last motes of study would not be spent around them. Rather, our focus was on what those who worshipped their idols resided in. With many cultures in bygone eras having kept stores and smaller dwellings nearby their sites of worship, it would be prudent to assume the same, perhaps around the walls and cliffs of the shrines. Our studies at the shrine had already revealed much about its history, yet one question hung above us. Were the original settlers of Springtide Isle really of Alolan origin, or had there been civilisation before them? By studying and searching the ruins around the shrine, rather than the shrine itself, we hope to discern answers, while at the same time this would allow us a possibility of finding a suitable specimen. A specimen which has not been planted there by the local cucumber deity or its lizard compadres. |

Raves - Dissatisfied with a specimen of such artificial nature, you leave it to rest within its nest of fiberglass and engine grease. Dwelling here while it’s busy will likely not yield results, and so you decide to take a round trip around the island to fulfill the rest of your research goals.
The journey is arduous, yet it seems fruitful. So many hypotheses, and a fair bit of evidence to support them. Perhaps you’ll finally be the one to unravel some of the mysteries that hang over this ever-changing island? Or will it be that in about, oh, 1-3 years some other strange happening will call you out here yet again, tempting you with an ever-deepening abyss of questions. Regardless, with the island’s current form mapped out, you notice that the sky is beginning to darken. Very soon, midnight’s bells will be ringing, and the spell that’s been cast upon the land of Springtide will vanish along with any hope of collecting specimens. You hurry back to the Shrine, and find that your wish for things to calm down has been answered—no more revving engines, just a tranquil sanctity that not even the tacky furnishings could ruin. Though, you’ve had enough of the shrine. You want to study how the people who venerated these Pokemon lived, and so you make your way towards the nearest signs of ancient settlement. Though the rolling plains dominate much of the area, there is indeed a grand cliff face overlooking the shrine, within which are dwellings carved from the white rocks. Though you have little time, you spend as much of it as you can studying these cave houses. Though some have been repurposed as more modern homes, some have been preserved as historical monuments—complete with cave paintings depicting the flora and fauna of a Paldea long passed. In one mural, you can see figures welding tools like weapons against flying game, but strangely, they don’t appear to be human. If anything, they appear to be... The sound of something rattling catches your attention, and you wheel around to see a hot pink egg nestled in the corner of the room! It shakes when you approach, producing that odd rattling yet again as cracks appear over its surface—and then bam, a metal cudgel bashes the shell to bits! The Pokemon that’s hatched before you is a Female Tinkatink, and based on the way its raving its rattle towards you, it seems to think you’re its parent. As if your research couldn’t be interrupted any further, the sound of Cyclizar weakly trilling comes from outside. The mount Pokemon comes shambling in, looking like it had just run all over the island in search of you. It collapses before it can reach you, and the radiant Tera Orb that Pyukumuku had intended to gift to you rolls gently to your feet. Blu3shift - Not wanting to trifle with a potentially hazardous Pokemon, you leave the egg to rest, and turn back towards the research base. At least—in the direction you assume was where you came from. You’ve become hopelessly turned around, and without even knowing, you’ve completely passed the research station in your ascent upwards. The glimmering crystals are your only guideposts—captivating, yet at the same time off-putting. Despite being nearly untouched by human hands, nothing here feels... natural. The crystals grow like an infection, slowly, but surely assimilating whatever matter they come into contact with. Even living matter seems to bond with these crystals—a phenomenon that is surely being studied closely, yet not fully understood as of yet. Eventually, the rocky cave gives way to short, wispy blades of grass. You’re still in the caverns, sure, but a part that seems to get consistent sunlight from above. Here in this underground meadow, you feel as though someone is calling your name—no, it’s more like two voices. Though the sound may not reach your ears, it certainly reaches into your mind, and pulls you in its direction through the fog. The source of the strange voices seems to be hidden among the grass, and when you finally pinpoint it, you’re met with your third and final egg. Its body is divided between yellow and brown, with irregular blobs of the opposite color spotting either side, like yin and yang. The egg responds to your presence, and a pair of cracks begin to spread across the shell, as though two separate beings were trying to break free from it. When the egg finally breaks open, you receive your answer for who called you here: A Female Girafarig, with the EM’s Uproar and Wish stands before you, both of its newly-born minds having called out to you. Vrrr! you hear the trill of the Cyclizar come from above, as a reptilian Pokemon with two tire-like air sacs descends into the cavern. Seems like it was sent to escort you out of this dangerous place, but since you’ve completed your Egg Hunt, the Pyukumuku riding atop its back also awards you with a Tera Orb that shimmers just like the crystals that have guided you through this odd place...

Raymond steadied themselves and began to survey the icy cavern before them. Each step echoed through the crystalline vessel hammering into their ears until a strange glow entered their field of vision. Raymond approached the glowing oval and reached out to it. The egg began to twitch before Raymons seemingly reacted to the presence of heat in its general vicinity. When Raymond's hand finally made contact with the entity it had hatched into a very FLUFFY canine with a candle protruding from its head. Suddenly, a virtual display of sorts is only visible to Raymond popped up and scanned the creature "Greavard, The Ghost Dog Pokemon; This friendly Pokémon doesn't like being alone. Pay it even the slightest bit of attention, and it will follow you forever." The dex entry also mentioned that it unintentionally sucked the life energy of thoughts in its vicinity. This seemed odd to Raymond because they felt fine though it could make science if one would consider that they weren't "alive" per se. But then again Porygon and various other pokemon weren't exactly normally alive in the first place. Either way, it was best to make note of the encounter and begin making their way back to the surface world. But first things first, Raymond reached into their pocket and pulled out a Moon Ball, and pressed it gently against the undead fluffball. "May you find happiness in this life leaving your past behind you growing distant and fainter with time?" Once the ball had stopped twitching seemed to be absorbed into Raymond's hand vanishing from the visible world but showing up on their display screen beside the rest of their motley crew. Not long after a loud commotion began to make its way toward him in a hurried manner. Appearing before Raymond was a creepy black creature riding a motorized lizard of some sort pulling a sled. The rider opened it strange maw and presented them with an orb and gestured for them to get on to the lead. Not wanting to spend hours trying to find an exit, Raymond took the orb and followed the vague directions of the strange sea cucumber. I want to be a HERO

This was an egg hunt, not a picnic! Yet, that's what you decided this excursion to the isle would be: a picnic. You had this feeling of disappointment settle in as if the Springtide Pyukumuku was dismayed by your decision. It and its gang of lizards worked so hard to try and get this entire event set up. And now, you were just here to sit on your tail and eat sandwiches all day? How preposterous. Utterly ridiculous. At least your Pokemon had the right idea. Your Poochyena then barks profusely, before jumping onto the table and barking straight into your face. The hyena then jumps onto your head, using it as a springboard to climb into a nearby tree branch. It continues barking at you, and you notice it has found an egg. The egg was dangling from the branch, completely wrapped together in sticky webbing. Seemed that this particular pokemon loved to be in the trees. Yet, despite its silken layer, you could see yellow-green beneath. It looked like eight little legs, hugging the bottom of the egg. It was, after all, just chilling, despite being hung from a branch and swaying in the wind. Even a single hard knock in the tree could most likely break the web suspending it. The real question was: Do you take the egg? myahoo- Deciding that the dung beetle mon wasn't for you, you and yours continue to scour the beach. It wasn't long however until you notice an egg floating in from the ocean. There seemed to be something special about this egg, compared to the other ones you'd seen, and you wait for it to land ashore. Once it does, you go up onto this eggo and see what it's all about. The egg was a light blue egg with a white underbelly. It seemed to shine in your presence, more than likely already decided it was a friend to you. Yet, that wasn't the only special thing about that egg. No, you notice a white, wave-like pattern on both sides of the egg. And in those waves two half-circles on top of the dips of the waves. This egg was very distinct for sure, and it showed tons of potential. A lot of promise. Perhaps, one day, it'll become a HERO? An Elemental HERO, perhaps? Or even a homage to Neo-Space itself!? But enough about children's card games played on motorcycles! This was a children's monster collection game! And this was decidedly the first of its kind in this universe! Now, the real question was: Do you take this egg?

In awe at the sight of a rare and foreign Paldaen Tera Orb being simply gifted to them Rylie goes to lean in and take it before realizing that his newly hatched friend has somehow slept through all of the commotion. Smiling down at the little mud baby the trainer fishes through his belongings before picking out a Chocolate Ball and placing the pokemon inside. Gently placing the newly caught pokemon away into his bag Rylie then gingerly makes his way to the Terra Orb and scoops it up, offering a small prayer of gratitude to Lord Pyukumuku and taking his leave of the island.

"mesa," she says, voice muffled through her shirt and hand, "what do you think, old gal? i splashed around for hours last time and brought back nothing more interesting than a tangela and a temperature, and got nothing for it besides a pat on the ass and new orders to slog through sand for a few weeks in the desert. I'm of a mind to grab this and go. leastaways the boss told us she was looking for another egg. didn't specify. probably just so professor t can do a compare and contrast on whatever little monster comes out this time versus last time's hatchling. i think we just nab this and hightail it back. egg's an egg, right?" mesa, red eyes blinking slowly, daintily sniffs the egg, yelps as if she was bitten, and let's out a fit of sneezes. "...breon", she says, stalking back behind lucia and facing away. "well too bad, kid. i'm not sticking around any longer than i have to, and what i say goes." taking a specimen bag from her ruck, she carefully envelops the two-toned green egg, pulls the drawstrings, and heads back towards the shimmering barrier back to fizzytopia. |

The thing was, she did eventually want both Pokémon that would be involved in the trade, but did she have a preference? One she wanted more than the other? She glanced around the beach as she thought. No, not really, but she had started expecting one over the other. And it wasn't like these events were ever a limited time thing, like in some other regions. She sent back an agreement and put the device away. Now to see what the next egg was. Not long after, she heard Breeze call out to all of them in surprise. "There's an egg in the ocean!" Melissa shaded her eyes as she tipped her head back. "What?" "Over here," he said, circling a patch of ocean water that was slowly approaching. Ripple drifted over, planning to nudge the egg quicker to land, but flinched back as Breeze dove at him. "Wha-?" "Springtide Isle eggs hatch...kind of on demand, but we don't know if it'll hatch when you touch it," Breeze explained as he flapped hard to regain his altitude. "Probably better to let it land on its own." Ripple glanced at the egg, a little confused, but swam away from it. "...okay?" "Well, what if she doesn't want it?" Breeze pointed out. "If it hatches, we're stuck with whatever it is." "Oh!" Ripple paced the egg. "That's...weird." Who ever heard of eggs hatching on demand? Breeze shrugged as best he could as the egg rolled up in the surf. "That's how it is here." Meanwhile, Wildfire waited a good distance from the edge of the surf while Melissa picked her way down to the egg. Light blue on the top, white on the bottom, and something of a wave pattern on each side of the egg. She pulled out her Pokédex to make sure. "Yup, that's most likely a Finizen." She replaced her Pokédex and reached out for the egg. "No bird?" Wildfire asked from behind. "I'm trading for it," she replied.

Cake by the ocean
myahoo-
After some deliberation with your team, you decide to take the egg. You had been working away at your rotom phone for a while, right? While the egg was floating in, you had made a deal to trade the results of your hatch. After all, they had something you were very much interested in yourself. Still, no matter, there was a little HERO waiting in this egg to meet its proper owner. Claiming the egg, it soon hatches. In a light blue, and a high-pitched squeal, you see a dolphin jump into the shore. A Finizen, a Pokemon with a lot more going on than meets the eye. Well, its evolution did. This little one was just a tiny Dolphin. And hopefully that this one would be more than enough for you, yeah? Congratulations! You have hatched a Lv. 1 Female Finizen with EMs Counter and Haze! And with a newly acquired Paldean Pokemon of your own, you read the noise of an engine. Emerging from the waves in front of you, you see a rather odd silhouette. As the sun catches the figure and illuminates it, you see what it truly is: the Springtime Pyukumuku! It was riding on its trusty steed, the Bunny Cyclizar! As rider and mount land, the Pyukumuku extends its innards to hand you a Tera Orb! Looks like you have the power of terastalization on your side. And, with that, the time at the beach was over. --- You may rp to pick up your Pokemon. |

Once they had put a safe amount of space between themselves and the stink bomb, the duo relaxed again as they observed the colorful coral beds and a variety of Pokémon playing around the cool tidepools, splashing happily about without a care in the world. With the harsh sun beating down overhead, refracted further by the rainbow magnifier lodged in the mountain, Jess yearned to join the refreshing shower in the shallows - but didn't wish to disturb such a picturesque scene of peaceful recreation. Lance also looked like he was wilting a bit from the burning heat, so they instead searched for some shade to take refuge in, finding temporary respite behind a rocky cliffside. As the blossom began to perk up, he perceived what appeared to be a large nest built into the rockface up above, just out of reach of the rising ocean's grasp. The plant pointed this out with one of his thorned roses, and the pair carefully made their way up the precipice to peer curiously into the alcove, discovering a dark shelled Egg with a silver stripe along the center, bottom half segmented by three golden crescents directed downward. For some reason, Jess felt it resembled a Moon Ball as she intently examined its smooth surface, an aura of static clinging around as it crackled to the touch. The crag's high location seemed to suggest something avian within, though Lance tutted at such poor craftsmanship, having obviously been cobbled together in a hurry. Whoever made the nest had no sense of aesthetics or natural talent, twigs tossed haphazardly in a precarious heap like an uneven stack of cards, which could easily be blown away by the wind at any moment. While the pick of shelter provided sufficient protection from outside elements for now, slowly shifting shadows indicated it would eventually be exposed to the sun's relentless rays, surely cooking contents to a crisp before it even had a chance to hatch. It was evident this wasn't meant to be the Egg's permanent home, given such careless lack of forethought to sustaining stable conditions. Consulting her own Corsola-customized 'dex, Jess wondered if perhaps this might be the "bird" Melissa was seeking. After some thought, she decided to take a photo with her PokéGear's low-res camera, hoping it wouldn't come out too grainy. Scrolling through her contacts list, she recalled they had shared numbers once back when coordinating for Raid Battles, and after some nervous hesitation - hit "Send" with the attachment. In about a minute, she received a response, and Jess relieved that both her hunch was correct and the picture's details were clear enough to distinguish. Following some more texting back and forth, the two came to a mutual agreement, determining to meet up later to make an exchange. Thus she delicately lifted the prize to place in her bag for short-term safekeeping, which Lance lined with soft petals to ensure it was cozy and secure, but also blanketed in beauty as he believed the baby deserved (as opposed to the shoddy excuse for a "bed" given by birthright). OoC - Taking this Egg.

Being the figurehead of patience and grace, Lucia picks up the green egg determined to return home much to the disappointment of her traveling companion and to the relief of her nasal passages and eyes. Placing the egg into a collection sack the egg behind writhes and crack releasing a fairly uncomfortable-looking feline that sneezes and summons a flurry of petals around it tearing the bag apart. Landing on its feet it wobbles a bit before shaking a spreading some seed around before stretching out before Lucia. The flowers then begin to dim as a green light seems to flow into the newly hatched feline. It finally looks up at the human with curiosity and approaches her rubbing its tiny face over Lucia's calves and purring. Not long after the sound of revving begins to approach the small collective and screened to a halt just outside of the field before gently approaching Lucia. The commission startled the tiny hatchling making it drive its claws into Lucia as it attempts to scale it toward safety. It appears to be a bike lizard of smoking being mounted somehow to be a burned corndog-looking thing. The Pyukumuku extends its innards toward Lucia presenting it with a crystalline orb before making its merry way across the field deeper into the strange island. Congratulations, you gained a Terra Crystal and hatched an Lv 1 Male Sprigatito with egg moves Leech Seed and Petal Blizzard. Quote:
Jess swaddled the egg and not long after the egg began convulsing and undoing the blanket around it cracking and revealing what was decidedly a bird. The hatchling stretched out its wings and began to bask in the sunlight breathing in the warm sea breeze. As a gust of wind passed by the Hatchling begins to crackly with electricity and chirped happily before taking flight and eventually taking a dive into the ocean returning with a very frazzled and stunned Pyukumuku to begin to struggle against the young bird that was attempting to eat it. eventually the Sea Cucumber extends its guts grabs a strange rock and uses it to wack the bird. Upon which the hatchling flings the poor creature out to the sea. The Pyukumuku then briefly resurfaces to toss the orb at Jess' feet before presenting into the sea where it will no doubt battle more hungry creatures of the deep. Upon further inspection, the orb seems to be made of some form of crystal much akin to the giant one that appeared on the Springtide island. Congratulations, you obtained a Terra Orb and hatch a Female Wattrel with the egg moves Weather Ball and Spit Up.

The Pokémon seemed surreal, yet strong. Maybe too strong for him to manage. It stared at him for a bit, and then it ran. Something about him must have really gotten it upset for it to just bolt like that; he could probably guess what it was but he didn't really want to think about it. And then out comes a duo of Pokémon from the heavens, one of them ejecting an entire arm from inside its body and handing him an orb. Elijah was dumbstruck. If he had his Pokédex he would have been all over them, but he still stared for a bit while he tried to process the situation. He pondered the mysterious orb, its translucent dark surface covering a strange crystal within. It felt... powerful? But yet he didn't know what kind of powerful it was. Shrugging, he threw it into his backpack alongside the myriad of other strangely powerful artifacts that he was given shortly after his trainer registration. Maybe one day he'd figure out what this thing was. Deciding it was high time to get out of there, Elijah ran back to the structure that he initially emerged from, which was thankfully right in front of him, intact from when he left it. Stepping on the glowing green tile put him back in the other building that he found just off the path. He ruminated over the day's events on the way back to where he started: so many questions, so few answers. What was this orb? What were those Pokémon that he saw? Was it him or was he one Poké Ball lighter? It didn't take a genius to figure out that last one, fortunately. Pyukumuku and their oddly nicknamed Dunsparce were still at large. --- "capturing" the girafarig with a pokeball and grabbing the tera orb. the gacha decided to not be in my favor this time but I'm happy that I made the most of it! I'm actually coming around to appreciate Elijah's cluelessness now instead of just using it as a crutch :P

Truly, the Spacial Gate flickers across geological strata, its tendrils seeking out any and all sources it can, and we can begin to piece together something of a solid hypothesis on Springtide Isle. The murals themselves appeared to depict ancient beings, wielding metallic armanents against their airborne prey. On one mural, the aerial beast strikes down several of their number, depicted by broken sticks, while another shows the same beast with several chunks hewn from its form, seemingly still alive and fleeing from the triumphant humanoids. A soft rattle from one corner drew our attention, granting us a suitable specimen finally. A pink egg, nestled in the corner with a few scraps of old metal, carefully positioned and treated so as not to corrode. Before us, the egg cracked apart, revealing the specimen to be a curious Tinkatink. A Paldean native, yet the small creature appears to have a slightly pointed club in contrast to the metallic rattle of its kin. Before we could commence any further study, a small clink from behind us condemned the continuation of our studies, as our time on Springtide Isle had decidedly been brought to a sudden close. With no further time to continue research, our objectives had been met and as we collected the metalsmith and the crystalline orb, our next port of call was simple: collation. --- From our observations and studies, the mysterious location in Fizzytopia known as Springtide Isle is a natural volcanic lava dome formation, in relative geological adolescence with an estimated age of between eighteen and twenty million years, which would place it in the early Kabucene era. The island is unique in that it is situated on a stable anomalous rift we have taken to calling a "Spacial Gate." Related to the historic Dialga's Gate, it is theorized to have been formed as a result of the legendary pokemon Palkia's interactions with a fragile area of space-time, apparently intentionally constructed by the beast for some purpose. The nature of the Gate grants the isle a unique state of fluctuation, capable of warping its physical form as the Gate pleases, carving sections of the world out from distant lands and locations and replacing them with parts of itself at will. The isle is by no means any more hazardous than the rest of the archipelago it resides on, and the anomaly seems to maintain the isle in a state of perpetual spring, hence the etymology. Our observations of the isle reveal to us that the Gate is active roughly every two to three years, tearing from numerous regions, and the first pokemon settlers appear to be Tinkatink, drawn in form Paldea. In its current iteration, the isle is claiming Paldean land, having drawn from Sinnoh's older niches in its previous incarnation, and we cannot predict where it will draw from next. The isle's guardian, as such, is a Pyukumuku who seems to have taken some of the Gate's energy into itself, capable of travelling vast distances in a split second, and it seems to be tradition for it to plant eggs of the region the Gate is currently drawing from for Fizzytopia's trainers to learn from. The Tinkatink specimen we retrieved from the isle appears to be relatively healthy, though observations reveal it seems to prefer using chipping implements as opposed to blunt objects like its Paldean kin. We can only theorise that this Tinkatink is descended from the isle's original inhabitants, though is by no means a convergent species or regional form. Rather, it seems to us that the metalsmiths of the isle's earliest eras preferred to carve their materials from the earth due to a dearth of natural prey, though the occasion of a Corviknight appearance leads to the usual hunt. Given the relative success rates the species has in terms of combat towards Corviknight, the low number of resident Tinkatink suggests that they replenish their numbers whenever the isle draws from Paldea. Nevertheless, our research on the isle is concluded for the time being. One final note is the orb we obtained from unknown sources, likely the Pyukumuku or one of its assistants. The crystal within the sphere bears much of the same energy stemming from the giant crystal in the grotto, and a cross-reference reveals the object to be a Tera Crystal, whose energy charge can provide subjects with the power to undergo a temporary change known as Terastallisation. While common knowledge, the relatively new system appears to have much of Fizzytopia's people talking excitedly, though the same phenomenom can naturally affect wild pokemon, and with the region's Gym system still defunct following the sudden vacancy of the Dynamax energy wells, there are no defences against any spontaneous Tera specimens. Discussion concerning this has been nonexistant, and our concerns may be overreaction, thus further speculation shall be put on hold. With the closure of this research paper, we have compiled all findings in separate documentation alongside this provisional extract, and shall send this into the Capsule once we have found the means to transport our findings. Our research lead appears to be faring well, and acclimatisation to the region is at an acceptable level. It will be up to them to discern whether it is safe to leave their station, and to truly commence our purpose in this land. Report signed, S.K. - 01-CDX New Castelia Archivist Division. --- Popping little hammer lass into one of my many pokeballs for now and claiming this Tera Orb for replication and distribution to relevant trainer parties. |

CyberBlastiose:
As you dove into the water, you were hit with how cold the waters truly were, but that mattered not. You were expecting this and using an aqualung along with some goggles you decided to swim about to see what you could find with your Finneon. Something glinted at you from within the water, bobbing up and down along a current, drifting closer and closer to the Isle. A teal-colored egg with a subtly faint heart shape imprinted upon the center of the egg. Floating about in the ocean seemed to be wonderful as it bobbed back and forth, for when you approached it, it didn't flinch away from either you or your partner pokemon, allowing you for a closer inspection as you swam to it. Was this the one? Was the pokemon that lay waiting within here the one you wanted? Only you could truly decide. What would you do? OkikuMew: As you sought out the berry-covered canopy you heard the sounds of birds chirping back and forth to one another, their chatter blending with that of the other pokemon. Keeping an eye upon your energetic ponyta, you picked up berries to eat that which could be identified beyond any shadow of a doubt. You heard an odd cry that you couldn't quite place, however. It almost sounded as if something was dunking something within a glass of water, but the tone and pitch made it odd to hear since it sounded as if it was being manipulated. Following the sound, you stumbled upon a new egg. This one was a shade of olive green, with small leaf markings surrounding another odd mark that... looked like a hole?? It was confusing to see this egg but there was no doubt that this was indeed a Pokemon Egg. Now the question was... Was it what you wanted? SixDragons: With all that happened around outside of its shell, enticed the pokemon to hatch! The orange Crustcean pokemon groans in seeming glee and snaps its pinchers in the air. Congrats you have hatched a Male Klawf, It knows the EM Crabhammer! Zooming out from somewhere, A Cylcizer passes you, with a Pyukumuku riding atop its back, shoving a Tera Orb into your hand as it passes you by. With this, you'll be able to master the art of Terastilization, a battle bonus known well within the Paldea Region. Do you have what it takes to raise this new pokemon and master this art? Only time will truly tell.
