Raid Boss Sableye ★★★★ Health Gauge: 37% Shields Up: 0 Status: S. Master, Pangoro: 243 HP Gary, Togetic: Life Dew Gary, Togetic: 270 HP ChrisClark13, Absol: 232 HP lilboocorsola, Carbink: 400 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 245 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Moonlight (0 BP) Sableye recovered its HP! Def -1) King Ghidorah, Kangaskhan: 0 HP (Must wait 1 round to recover) Missingno. Master, Pangoro: 243 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 47 HP (Sp. Def -1) Emp, Shiinotic: 300 HP (Fully recovered) lilboocorsola, Carbink: 400 HP (@AoF, Def +2) ChrisClark13, Absol: 52 HP KO Count: 5 From the brink of disaster, the fallen pokemon's trainers cheer for their nearly defeated allies and bring the two Dark types back fighting fit, while Togetic continues to support its allies with another sprinkling of healing water, patching Carbink up fully and giving Absol and Kecleon a much needed boost. In the meantime, the raiders assault the boss once more, and deal notable damage to the Sableye in the heat of the sun, and as the raiders subconsciously ponder what reason the Darkness pokemon had to bring out the sunshine, their curiosity is answered swiftly, and to their horror. Staring at the sun, the raid boss opens its arms out and basks in the light, scratches and cracks in its form closing up as it utilises the light of the hidden moon to restore a considerable portion of its health! It grins down at the raiders knowingly: if they were going to resort to frantic recovery, so would he! Not one to falter, a blast of darkness then assaults the Kangaskhan, the darkness spreading and leaving her, Togetic and Kecleon somewhat exposed, before the gathered sunlight is expelled once more, but Togetic is ready and gets in Pangoro's way, avoiding yet another heavy attack from wounding the bear, but its allies are not so lucky: Already teetering on the brink, Kangaskhan collapses from the gleam while the dark type Kecleon and Absol are thankful for their recovery, the Life Dew keeping them from being vanquished by critical strikes. With the Sableye having played its cards, the raiders have still netted an overall positive in the battle, as Sylveon and Shiinotic return to the fray, though at this point it seems like anyone's game, though it seems Sableye's lustre appears to have faded... Dynamax Initiative: Expired.

After the latest onslaught, one question remained in many minds- why did Sableye bother to set up bright sunlight in the first place? Surely that's not the sort of conditions that the Darkness Pokémon would find ideal, whether from a battling standpoint or just in general. However, it wasn't much longer before that question was answered, and not in a way that anyone was particularly happy to see.
"Moonlight!" Keith breathed as he recognized the move Sableye was using. "But it waited until after those attacks, so that must mean-!" "-that I was right- it doesn't have Prankster!" Maribel finished. "Mom's Pangoro isn't immune to its status moves, so if it decides to try something like Confuse Ray or Will-O-Wisp, it could actually work!" "Between that and all the knockouts that thing's getting, they better act fast," Keith murmured. "Sableye's getting worn down, but the battle ain't over yet." ~~~~~ "I had a feeling," Willa murmured as she saw Sableye's Moonlight take effect. "No Prankster after all. Pangoro, be wary," she advised the Daunting Pokémon. "You won't be immune to any of its tricks." "Goro," nodded Pangoro, glaring up at the Dark/Ghost-type. "It matters not, in the end- we'll finish this before it even has a chance to try anything funny!" Willa declared. "Pangoro, Hammer Arm once more!" "PAAAAAAN GOROOOOOOOOO!!" bellowed Pangoro, ready to take a super effective Scrappy swing at Sableye once more. Willa watched this, hoping that this next onslaught would do the trick. Sableye might be weakening, but their victory wasn't secured until their adversary was robbed of every last hit point. OOC: Pangoro used Hammer Arm (100 BP; user has Scrappy). |

Prism let out a soft sigh as she felt soothing water seep between her scales, the Togetic’s Life Dew healing some of the bruises, scratches, frostburn, and other injuries she had obtained during the battle. Just as quickly as the chameleon’s limbs stopped aching, though, the Sableye flashed with a blinding light--a brief warning of the Sableye’s seemingly favorite attack. Prism barely had time to grumble before she was hit by the Dazzling Gleam, knocked off her feet by the force of the attack. The blow stung more than usual--not only was it bolstered by the pink ethereal mist swirling around the battlefield, but it was a critical hit as well, the ray of light having struck a weak point where her tough scales weren’t as thick.
Selene scurried to her partner, gently lifting the wounded Kecleon back to her feet. They were quite the bind, Prism hanging on by a thread. She sighed as she looked across the battlefield, debating her next move. Seeing as the Togetic was preparing for another restorative Life Dew, its brow furrowed as it began summoning a small ball of water in front of it, Selene decided to change pace. If Prism was healed but remained a Dark type and was hit by a super effective Dazzling Gleam, a move the Sableye seemed rather inclined to use, she would most likely faint even with the health boost. However, changing typing might spare her from the worst of the blow. And while Prism was generally a blip in the Sableye’s radar, the spread effect of the Fairy move meant that there was a higher possibility of the Kecleon getting hit compared to the Sableye choosing to hit Rock-type Prism with a Steel move over one of the more dangerous (and useful, Selene reluctantly thought) fairies. “Time for a risky change of pace. Prism, why don’t you use Ancient Power this time around?” Ancient Power (60 BP) Protean: Dark --> Rock

Raid Boss Sableye ★★★★ Health Gauge: 15% Shields Up: 0 Status: S. Def -1, Pumped Up (Crit +2), Seeded, Sun (2 Turns Remaining) Trainer Recovery Summary King Ghidorah, Kangaskhan: Cheer ChrisClark13, Absol: 202 HP Gary, Togetic: Life Dew Gary, Togetic: 310 HP Missingno. Master, Pangoro:343 HP Emp, Shiinotic: 300 HP SpinyShell, Kecleon: 122 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary Slash, Sylveon: Double-Edge Slash, Sylveon: 192 HP Attack 1: Max Phantasm (140 BP) [CRIT] ChrisClark13, Absol: 0 HP Attack 2: Gyro Ball (100 BP) [CRIT] Missingno. Master, Pangoro: 178 HP Attack 3: Max Flare (130 BP) Gary, Togetic: 141 HP Raid Challengers Slash, Sylveon: 192 HP (Def -1) Gary, Togetic: 141 HP (Sp. Def -1) Emp, Shiinotic: 300 HP lilboocorsola, Carbink: 400 HP (@AoF, Def +2) ChrisClark13, Absol: 0 HP (Must wait 1 round to recover) KO Count: 6 Further healing from the raiders only serves to greatly frustrate the raid boss further as the Togetic continues to dispense healing water to their comrades and Absol receives yet another blessing, and as the raiders rally another offensive assault to great effect, the gremlin's gems start showing evident cracks, as it also appears the same thing could be said for its patience, and Sableye responds very angrily as the Absol finally gets lucky and lands a critical strike on the boss! The Sableye responds unexpectedly: grabbing its gem eyes, it tears them from its very head and screeches an unholy screech, darkness spilling from its sockets as it raises its gemstone oculars above its head and proceeds to form the swirling darkness into a very large and foreboding object: an extremely large steel chair. With a tremendous roar, it swings the phantasmal object down upon the Disaster pokemon, dealing unto it what it did unto it, a critical strike smiting the quadruped where it stands as the clouds above begin to swirl heavily. The Max Phantasm having dissipated, it then proceeds to bean Pangoro in the head with one of its eyes in a classic fastball movement, the hefty object sending the panda tumbling to the ground in a daze though the bear gets up again, groggy from the critical hit, before the Darkness pokemon replaces both of its eyes into its head and belches forth a very large fireball at Togetic, scorching the fairy for its clerical misdeeds though to the raider's mercy this one doesn't seem to strike critically. As Kangaskhan returns to the fray, the leech seed once again appears to sap some strength from the waning pokemon, who at this point really wishes that the fairy type had remained undiscovered... Dynamax Initiative: Expired.

The Sableye was quickly growing frustrated with the situation at hand (at claw?, its health quite low while its adversaries were healed by sparkling droplets of life-giving dew, the Absol finally landing a critical Play Rough, they were taking their toll, the gemstones embedded in its body were starting to crack, their reflections distorted in the shiny mirror-like jewels, a metaphor for its mental state it seemed. Pushed to the edge, the Sableye dug its claws into its face and ripped out the two gemstones, to the shock and horror of all, as it uttered a primal, horrifying scream. Pitch black darkness spilled from the gaping caverns in its face as the Pokémon hidden by the mist echoed its cry in kind, howling and yelping and shrieking as though they were in agony. The ungodly sounds sent chills down Selene’s spine while Prism covered her ears and turned a sickly shade of white in fear; the other raiders were clearly disturbed as well, some cowering, some frozen by instinct, others watching the mist or the goblin with dread.
The screeching continued as the Sableye lifted its eyes above its head, forming an orb of spectral energy above its head. Some of the Ghosts hidden by the fog surged forth like ghostly Sharpedo from a frothy white sea, joining their spectral energy with the gremlin’s. Once the sphere became the size of the Sableye’s large head, it morphed into a steel chair, the mundane object unnerving in this instance due to the frightful circumstances. With a roar, the Sableye slammed the chair onto the Absol, crushing the wolf beneath it as the storm intensified, whipping the mist into a foggy frenzy. The gremlin grinned wickedly, satisfied that it got vengeance on the Pokémon that slighted it, before hurling one of its eyes at the Pangoro, striking the bear with a critical hit. It then restored its eyes with a gurgling grunt, flames reflected in the blue jewels as it seared the Togetic with a Max Flare. Exhausted by its attacks, the Darkness Pokémon slumped over, observing its adversaries with a watchful eye, er jewel. Several tense moments passed before Selene tore her eyes off of the goblin, only to find Prism cowering behind a rock. She bent down to give the Kecleon a reassuring pat on the head before giving her command. “We’re at the end of this. One more Ancient Power please.” Ancient Power (60 BP) Protean: No change (Rock)

Willa frowned- as the dust settled from the latest onslaught of attacks, it became evident that they hadn't yet taken down Sableye. The Darkness Pokémon had more chances to attack, and it didn't squander said chances by any means. A forceful Max Phantasm which, despite the poor type matchup, finished off the Absol. A powerful Gyro Ball that slammed into Pangoro, still leaving him with a decent chunk of hit points. And a powerful Max Flare into the Togetic- not enough to knock it out, but powered up by the intense sunlight.
"I didn't know Sableye learned Gyro Ball," Keith remarked. "Not a bad move for it to have, though." "Yeah- Sableye aren't very fast, are they?" Maribel nodded. "Just like Gemini and Mustard?" "Very good, sweetie," Keith nodded back with a smile. "The slower the Pokémon, the more powerful its Gyro Ball attack, and Weezing generally rely on a slower, more defensive battle style, so Gyro Ball is a great move for them." Maribel was looking up at the Dynamaxed Sableye now. "It won't take much more, will it?" she murmured. "They almost got this." "Yeah, they do," Keith nodded. "I think your mom and Pangoro just need to go for one more attack. ~~~~~ "Just one more attack, Pangoro!" Willa called out. "Gorrrro!" growled Pangoro, giving a nod as he glared up at the Darkness Pokémon. He could see it as well- their opponent was weakening, and weakening fast. It wasn't gonna be able to withstand another onslaught like the last one, and they both knew it. Willa nodded back. "Then let's finish it. Hammer Arm!" she commanded. OOC: Pangoro used Hammer Arm (100 BP; user's Ability is Scrappy). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 11-23-2020 at 06:38 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Screeching, the gremlin collapses as the gathering storm evaporates, leaving nought in its wake but...nothing. As if by some unknown powers, the Sableye appears to have disappeared completely. Had the attacks vaporized it? Nobody knows, for the follow-up rumble in the sky above forewarned a natural storm was rolling in, and after a quick hand-out of goodies as defined by a basket with items within, the job at the loch was done, another dynamaxed opponent defeated. For their part in defeating the Raid Boss Sableye, the raiders are awarded the following:

Selene gently slid the gifts they had received from the gym leader into her backpack, taking care to not scratch the TM's fragile surface as she stored it in the special case for the move-teaching disks. Prism, meanwhile, was celebrating victory, her scales now a joyous shade of yellow as she spun in a circle.
“I hate to cut the celebrations short, but with this storm brewing,” Selene gestured to the dark grey clouds steadily approaching, “we should be heading home now.” With a sigh, Prism dutifully followed her trainer, trudging alongside her. However, as they climbed out of the pit of the dry lakebed, she spotted an unusual clump of white in stark contrast to the rapidly darkening sky and the dusty brown ground beneath them. Ever the curious Meowth, the Kecleon took off running, all her attention focused on this strange white bundle. Could it be snow? The skeletal remains of the Sableye? Or something else… ? As the Kecleon approached, she realized the strange thing wasn’t resting on the ground like she had originally thought, instead it was floating, no, flying, fluttering about on pale pink wings. And it certainly didn’t seem to like her, blasting the chameleon with a weak psychic burst of energy and a high-pitched squeak. “Is that… ?“ Selene’s voice trailed off as she came upon Prism, the Kecleon a shade of angry red, and the mystery Pokemon. She gasped once it became clear to her what it was; she recognized the species from her days in Galar, a Woobat, yet it had a coloration like no other. Its body was pale white while its wings were a pale pinkish color, a stark contrast to both regular and shiny Woobat. Its nose was a little more vibrant than its wings, though still incredibly pale compared to other Woobat. But before she could begin to puzzle out the origins of its color, the white bat unleashed yet another Confusion, narrowing missing the Kecleon as she leapt out of the way. “Prism, Ancient Power and then a Feint Attack follow-up,” she shouted. The chameleon stamped on the dusty earth as her scales shifted from red to brown, causing glowing fossils to erupt from beneath the Woobat. It attempted to dodge, flapping its tiny wings in desperation, but despite its efforts the Rock energy smacked into it, knocking it low to the ground. Sensing an opportunity, Prism lunged forward with the Feint Attack, hammering the bat with another super effective blow. The Woobat screeched at them, blasting Prism with a Gust and then a Shadow Ball before it lost the last of its strength. It collapsed in a heap on the ground, uttering loud hisses as it puffed itself up in defense. “It’s not very powerful, it seems,” Selene said, “so it must be very young. Perhaps it spends most of its days hunting for small bugs in the fog, turning its normally detrimental coloration into an advantage.” Enraptured by the Woobat, Selene almost subconsciously pulled out a Heal Ball from her bag, and hurled it at the Psychic type. While a bit off the mark, the mechanism still activated, and within three clicks Selene had a second partner, and Prism a new friend. Edit: Teaching my Woobat Shadow Ball. Quote:
Prism grew from lvl. 15 to lvl. 19 Kasib Berries: 1 --> 2
