The longer the battle dragged out, the more time the Gengar would have to make use of the Nasty Plot boost. That wasn't something you could afford. You urge Sunny on, the Ninetales' eyes glow blue as she launches a psychic assault. She prods and plays with the Gengar's senses, generating visible pain from the Poison typed Gengar. Sunny delights in the pain she is causing, the Gengar deserves every bit of it. It isn't long before the Gengar fights back however, it gathers a mass of swarming shadows into a ball and launches it at the Ninetales. Sunny is smashed by the powerful blow, it wasn't super effective but it might as well be with the Gengar's boost behind it.

The pair then go about trading blows, Sunny firing off a sun-boosted Flamethrower while the Gengar returns serve with a staggering Dark Pulse. Both attacks hit their mark, both Pokemon taking considerable hits but there was still plenty of fuel in the tank. Sunny continues to abuse the sunny conditions, gathering more flames before roasting the Gengar with another Flamethrower. "So repetitive", drones the figure, "Gengar, use Spite!" The Gengar cackles as it casts a shroud of ghost energy over the Ninetales. The Fire type's tails droop, a sudden fatigue falling over her due to the Gengar's Spite. In her tired state she would likely struggle to continue going toe to toe with the Gengar, she needed something to go her way.
Sunny and Gengar proceeded to exchange powerful blows- Sunny's moves powered up by type matchups and weather, Gengar's by way of stat boosts. Either way, heavy hits were being exchanged. The two looked to be more or less evenly matched at the moment, going toe to toe with each other, which of course was the fiendish opponent's cue to try and tip things further in his favor. A Spite attack was his next order, and Sunny was feeling it right away.

"So tired," Sunny grunted as she felt the fatigue wash over her. "Terri... something's gotta give, and soon." And as the Normal Form Ninetales said this, she and Terri exchanged brief yet significant glances. They both knew what must be done here.

Terri gave a nod. "Nasty Plot," was all she said.

Sunny nodded back, and proceeded to think horrible thoughts once more. As Gengar proved earlier in the battle, doing this was absolutely not a valid long-term strategy against this Gengar. But with how much this Spite had drained her, nothing about this battle seemed long-term anymore. They needed to finish the job and fast, and Sunny had a feeling she knew exactly what Terri had in mind.

And sure enough, once she could be sure Nasty Plot's effects had taken root, Terri moved her arms. "Let's do it, Sunny!" she exclaimed as brilliant light poured from the Psychium Z set into her Z-Power Ring.

The Fire-type grinned, her suspicions confirmed at once. "Niiiiiiiine~" she howled in response.

"Find your strength and yield to nobody!" Terri was saying as she struck the necessary poses. "Make our minds join! Increase our power and direct it to our enemies!"

All nine of Sunny's tails were unfurled at this point, the Z-Power coursing through the Fox Pokémon's body. "Taaaaaaaaaaaales!" she called out. She was ready- ready to tip things right back in their favor, ready to defeat this menace once and for all, and she could feel her Extrasensory move powering up, transforming, becoming something far, far stronger.

Terri gave a confident grin, knowing how ready her Ninetales was, how ready she was, to end this. "Now perform- Shattered Psyche!!!"

Code:

Sunny surrounded itself with its Z-Power!

Sunny unleashes its full-force Z-Move!

...

Shattered Psyche

Missingno. Master- With Sunny struggling post Spite, you know you have to pull out all the stops. You needed a game changer and you needed it now! Sunny needed all the strength she could muster right now, that meant risking it with another Nasty Plot. The Ninetales bolstered her Special Attack once more, with no counter orders coming from the mysterious figure. Oh well, it just gave you time to sort out your next and hopefully final orders. Light begins to pour from the Psychium Z Crystal in your Z-Power Ring. It was time for the nuke. Your mind melds with Sunny's as you move through the accompanying dance with fluid like motion. The Ninetales can feel her Psychic powers strengthen, her Extrasensory powering up beyond belief.

"Do it now", the figure states calmly, prompting the Gengar to repeat its earlier tactic. The Ghost spews forth another Clear Smog, robbing Sunny of the boost she had just given herself. Despite this, the power she has gathered is tremendous and she lets it loose, launching an intense burst of Psychic energy. The Gengar is thrown up into the air, bounced around like a ball in a slot machine as it slams into a mass of invisible barriers. Finally its mind is shattered, almost beyond repair, before it floats down towards the ground, hitting it softly....

You'd won! You'd actually won!? Ha, nope, the Gengar slowly rises back into the air, barely clinging to life/afterlife. The figure doesn't issue orders, he just waits silently, staring with a stone cold face in your direction. Sunny is looking exhausted following the Z Move, but she certainly had the upper hand on the opponent now. You just had to finish the job.

Terri looked on intently as the Z-Move was unleashed. Shattered Psyche threw Gengar around, bouncing it off of invisible walls like a spiky spectral pinball. And finally, Gengar crashed to the ground... but no! Despite being slammed with a super effective Z-Move, Sunny hadn't triumphed. Not yet, at least. Gengar was surely hanging on with naught but a singular hit point by now, and though Sunny had taken big damage thus far, she still looked to have the advantage. They had to capitalize on it, and fast. "Finish it with Ember!" Terri commanded.

Sunny gave a nod, and made to charge up the basic Fire technique... but knew better than to just fire it off like that. No. It was too easy. And Sunny had grown up under the training of Keith Masters, grown up with a Gengar as her teammate. Some of the things this Gengar had done caught her off-guard, but there was no way she was gonna go down to a damn Destiny Bond. Yeah, she could see that one coming a mile away, and while Gengar would go down regardless, Sunny frankly didn't want to know what would happen if the battle ended in a tie. The stakes were too high for that sort of a risk.

All her body language suggested she was about to comply fully with Terri's order and do nothing else... right up until the last second, where she instead dashed into what would be a woefully ineffective Quick Attack. But that was fine- in fact, Sunny was counting on Quick Attack doing absolutely no damage. The idea was to waste just enough time for the Destiny Bond to wear off, and then, at the right moment, fire off the commanded Ember and secure their victory.

Missingno. Master- All this time, the figure had been one step ahead of you, working out your strategies with amazing accuracy and countering them at every turn. Yet you now found yourself in that position, with his Gengar in this weakened state, Destiny Bond was the obvious play. Sunny begins to gather up an Ember, but this was just a ploy. She'd instead dash forward with a Quick Attack, triggering the Destiny Bond before finishing off the Gengar with the Ember. The plan was perfect, if the figure did indeed intend on using Destiny Bond.....

"You've revealed your trump card, now its time to reveal ours", the figure shouts as throws both arms upwards, cutting through the cloak with two concealed blades. As the scraps of cloth fall at its feet, you realise that they aren't just blades, they're a Doublade! The Doublade's sheathe is firmly implanted on the chest of the mangled trainer it had taken as its host. The Doublade's ribbons wrap around the man's arms, then you notice the Z Ring on the man's left wrist....

"It was truly fortunate when this travelling trainer fell into the crevice we once called home. Desperate and dying, we took him for our host and with his strength we've brought many others under our thrall. Before long the whole Cloud Garden will be ours, especially once we have your Froslass on our side and yourself as our new host body. As for our Trump Card though, Gengar, Never-Ending Nightmare!" The Doublade forces its host body to perform the Z dance, activating the Ghostium Z engaged in its Z Ring. Ghost energy swells around the Gengar as it releases a swarm of shadows. Even as Sunny dashes forward, large spectral arms rise from the ground to grab at her, pulling her to the ground. The Ninetales struggles to get free, but in a last ditch effort she fires off the Ember, as instructed. The arms explode and Sunny is knocked unconscious by the sheer power of the Z Move. As the Ninetales faints, her move hits its mark, dealing a final blow to the Gengar as well. The Gengar screeches before sinking to the ground, it was a draw?!

"Well would you look at that, neither of us won", the Doublade cackles, "guess that means your simply at my mercy?" It begins to approach, each step shaky as its host's mangled bones struggle. It swishes its blades menacingly through the air, warming itself up for a finishing blow. With the Gengar unconscious however, Help seems to be coming to, as does Laugh. You notice the Froslass is starting to twitch, as if she was close to waking up....

Sunny's plan was sound in principle, and as soon as she started to carry it out, Terri was unsurprised by it, realizing in an instant the danger the Normal Form Ninetales had foreseen. Or so they thought she'd foreseen, anyway- the figure slashed away at his cloak with his blades, revealing something shocking- he was the blades! The creepily moving human body was a host for this Doublade! The set of spooky sentient swords bragged about the good fortune they had in possessing a dying travelling Trainer as their host, using his strength to take control of others, and about how they intended to not only add Laugh to their ranks, but to take Terri as their new host body. And throughout all this, they forced their host to go through the motions to activate a Z-Ring! A Ghostium Z was activated, and Gengar unleashed the Ghost-type Z-Move- Never-Ending Nightmare! The best that could be said was that Sunny managed to get off that Ember before passing out from the powerful move, but that was it- the battle was over. It was a draw.

Sunny hadn't even wanted to know what would happen if the match was a tie, but Terri was finding out now- neither side won, but with Doublade being what they were, and Terri simply a human, this in theory put her at their mercy. And the host body stumped forward, step by shaky step, and for a moment, Terri froze. Was this truly the end? Even though they'd managed to take out the Phantump, the Lampent, and the Gengar, was this really it for-

Wait a minute. They'd taken out the Gengar. Terri looked wildly around- Help was beginning to stir, and Laugh was twitching a little bit. Terri knew that twitching- knew that her girlfriend was on the brink of waking up.

"Help, use Heal Bell!" Terri called urgently. Then, she turned back to the monstrosity approaching her. Throughout this whole ordeal they'd been one step ahead of her, but now Terri was the one about to gain the upper hand. She took a deep breath and shouted at the top of her lungs; "LAUGH! HELP MEEEEEEE!" Heal Bell was intended to help speed up Laugh's waking up, but knowing that her beloved was in imminent danger, that would awaken Laugh faster than anything. And more than that, that would make whoever or whatever was threatening Terri a very unfortunate individual indeed. Shy, quiet, and soft-spoken Laugh most undoubtedly was under normal circumstances, but be stupid enough to threaten her girlfriend? Doublade had no idea the world of pain they were in for. Laugh would go to any lengths to Protect her beloved, and her anger would surely Astonish Doublade. After which they could look forward to a Shadow Ball so powerful that naught but inanimate scrap metal would remain.

Missingno. Master- With everything coming to a head, you now finally understood what was going on. This Doublade had sinister dreams, dreams that you were a part of. It seemed intent on claiming your body for itself, but with Gengar now down for the count, it was exposed. Help quickly snaps awake and begins to chime with a Heal Bell. The Doublade cackles, not caring at all about the technique as it fires a Flash Cannon at the Comfey. The Fairy type is instantly knocked out, it wasn't anywhere near the level of the Doublade, it never stood a chance. Thankfully, you never intend for Help to be the one to save you. While the Doublade may have dismissed the Heal Bell, its true purpose was far from useless. The Doublade separates itself from its host body, preparing to attach itself to a new one. The Doublade's old body slumps to the ground, their were no signs of life....

The Doublade reaches out with one of its sashes, preparing to wrap itself around your arm. Before it makes contact however, a shadow sweeps in between the two of you, an icy chill pushing the Doublade back as Laugh comes to your aid! The Froslass quickly pushes her advantage, striking the surprised Doublade with an Astonish! Laugh seems to be fueled by resentment as she continues her assault, firing a powerful Shadow Ball at the Doublade. Unfortunately, the Doublade has now collected itself, this wouldn't be that easy. The Steel type uses one of its blades to cut through the Shadow Ball with a Shadow Claw, reducing the damage before following up with another Shadow Claw with its other blade, striking Laugh and knocking her back into your arms. The Froslass looks up at you, she'd fight for you until her last breath, but she didn't intend for that to happen!

Help came to pretty much right away- without Gengar to maintain the hypnotic trance, the Comfey didn't need much to snap out of it. That, however, was where the good news ended for the Fairy-type- almost before the Heal Bell's chiming died down, Doublade had fired a powerful Flash Cannon that knocked Help clean out on the spot. The difference in level was painfully obvious- had Help been Terri's last hope against Doublade, she would have been screwed.

But, thankfully, this wasn't the case. The Heal Bell got it started, and Terri's scream finished the job. Laugh's eyes snapped open as it sank in that her beloved was in mortal peril, and the Froslass sprang into action! Normally a shy, quiet personality, friendly and agreeable to those that get to know her, Laugh was quite the stark contrast to her usual self when it came to those fool enough to threaten Terri. A fact that Doublade was bearing witness to right here, right now.

The Ice-type's eyes blazed with fury as she Astonished Doublade, catching the pair of blades off guard. However, when she launched Shadow Ball, Doublade had regained his composure and was fighting back with Shadow Claw. This allowed it to both reduce the Shadow Ball's damage and also land a powerful blow on the Froslass herself, sending her flying right into Terri's arms. "Oh, Laugh," Terri murmured, her voice thick with emotion.

"His Pokémon... you must have fought them off if he's attacking personally," Laugh murmured as she looked up lovingly at Terri.

Terri nodded, hugging Laugh. "Are you OK?" she murmured.

The Froslass gave a faint smile. "Better than I was, now that you're here," she replied. "But not as good as I'll be once we destroy Doublade." With that, the Froslass floated back into the air. "You fought to save me. Now it's my turn," she declared. The Froslass thought fast. Briefly, she'd considered Hail, get her Snow Cloak going, but she immediately decided against it, for several reasons. One, if Doublade couldn't hit her, he'd just go straight for Terri instead, since Snow Cloak's effect couldn't be extended to her as well. And two, the whole idea was pointless anyway- as far as a Doublade's possible Abilities went, No Guard was the only game in town, making any attempt at evasiveness pointless on either side. But neither could it just be head-on attacking alone- Laugh had to play it smart here, even the odds as best she could. With that notion in mind, the Froslass sought to land a searing, crippling Will-O-Wisp. Following that, a howling Ominous Wind, followed by another Shadow Ball, hopefully one not so easily countered.

Missingno. Master- With Laugh now conscious, the Froslass is the only thing left standing between you and gruesome fate. The Doublade seemed to be even more powerful than the Gengar, but Laugh was in quite a mood. The Froslass was eager for revenge and there is no way she is going to let any harm befall you. Looking to cut the strength of the Doublade in half, she gathers a swarm of Will-O-Wisps and sends them towards the pair of blades. Surprisingly the Steel type makes little effort to dodge the attack, which leaves scorch marks on its scabbard. You smell something strange, it almost smells like burning cloth....

Laugh pushes her advantage, sweeping her arms forward as she whips up an Ominous Wind. The Super Effective attack tears through the Doublade, literally. The Doublade slowly breaks up, bits of cloth and cotton fly everywhere as the cleverly crafted Substitute is broken apart! Laugh is left shocked, caught by surprise she fails to spot the Doublade soaring above her, pommels glistening as it descends with speed. Laugh is struck hard by the Iron Head, which pushes her into the ground. The Froslass quickly forces the Doublade back, slamming it with a powerful Shadow Ball, but the Doublade seems to have the upper hand for now. It rises into the air, splitting up into numerous copies as it sets up a Double Team. Laugh shakes the dust off herself as she turns back to you, looking for guidance. You needed a way to overpower the Doublade, but with your Z Move already used, what options did you have?

Doublade made no effort to dodge the Will-O-Wisp, but Laugh wasn't surprised in the slightest. She knew good and well that No Guard was a Doublade's only possible Ability, and knew Will-O-Wisp was a good way to turn such an Ability against the Pokémon- sure, Laugh couldn't dodge Doublade's moves, but the reverse held true as well.

Being neither surprised by nor willing to squander such an advantage, the Froslass continued her onslaught, this time with a forceful Ominous Wind that just ripped right through Doublade. Literally. Actually ripped it to shreds. The burnt cloth smell made a lot more sense now- both Terri and Laugh had chalked it up to part of those purple tassels being caught up in the Will-O-Wisp, but no- the Will-O-Wisp hadn't hit Doublade at all, but rather a Substitute it had created without anyone noticing! Suddenly, the advantage was Doublade's, and the possessed swords were quick to capitalize, landing a forceful Iron Head. Terri gave a gasp as her girlfriend was slammed to the ground, but Laugh almost immediately retaliated with Shadow Ball for good, super effective damage.

Then, however, things got weird. Doublade rose into the air, and two swords became four, and then they became more. Terri and Laugh were thrown by this tactic, and not without reason. "Wha...?" Laugh murmured. "It used Double Team? But why would it waste its energy like that?"

"To catch us off-guard, no doubt," Terri responded. "Unless..." Terri's mysterious mind was working a mile a minute throughout this fight. She might never give Laugh commands in battle, for the two were quite in agreement that theirs was a relationship decidedly unlike that of Pokémon and Trainer, but she was constantly on the lookout for anything that might escape Laugh's notice for one reason or another, something that could help her out in the battle. And something had indeed occurred to Terri. Doublade's team of three that he'd used against Terri had fallen. Phantump's repeat performance was shut down handily. Lampent's triumphant return was anything but. And Gengar's debut didn't end so hot for it. But that wasn't everything that that Doublade had had up its grotesquely commandeered corpse's sleeves, now was it? The Sword Pokémon still had one ally, maybe not in peak fighting condition, but surely having recovered enough to maybe sneakily give its leader a helping hand...

"Palossand..." Terri murmured. If Doublade really did intend for Double Team to work, then it couldn't have No Guard anymore. It would make sense, wouldn't it, for the thing to want to get rid of an Ability that its kind is well-known for having access to nothing but, and an Ability so easily used against it, for that matter. And Palossand could learn Skill Swap, so that definitely fit! But where would Palossand be hiding...? "Laugh!" exclaimed Terri. "Blizzard from above- straight down!"

Such was the urgency in Terri's tone of voice that Laugh didn't even pause to question having been given an order. Clearly Terri had figured something out, and so the Froslass ascended. Once she was above Doublade and all of his copies, she'd exhale a howling Blizzard straight down. Not only would this hopefully wipe out all the copies and do a little something to Doublade as well, but Terri was hoping this would also hit the ground, where Terri suspected Palossand might have been hiding. Though Laugh wasn't sure what Terri was up to, she trusted her completely, and also intended to follow up with another Will-O-Wisp, hopefully one that would hit the real deal this time, and then go for yet another Shadow Ball.

Missingno. Master- With the Doublade making a surprising move, you wonder what it could be up to. Then it strikes you, you hadn't seen the Palossand! Every other ghost that had been sent to delay you had made an appearance, except the big old pile of sand that had attempted to consume you earlier. With that in mind, you instruct Laugh to fire a Blizzard at the ground, a move that proves to be decisive. As the Ice type blasts the ground with a blast of icy snow, a screeches rings out as the Palossand reforms having spread itself out in the clearing to remain unseen. As Laugh continues to bathe the ground with her Blizzard, the reforming Palossand slowly begins to freeze. By the time her attack comes to an end, the Palossand is frozen solid, it wouldn't be helping Doublade anymore, well at least for a while.

However, even with the Palossand out of action, Doublade's Double Team holds. The Blizzard being directed at the ground meant it failed to reach the Doublade and its clones floating out of reach. You couldn't be sure whether the Palossand had Skill Swapped like you suspect, but you would soon find out. Laugh launches her Will-O-Wisp but the flames pass right through one of the clones, this wasn't good. Suddenly the Doublades all begin to move in, converging on Laugh as they prepare to land a Iron Head. Laugh has too many targets to pick from so she launches her Shadow Ball and hopes for the best....

Luck seems to be on Laugh's side this time as the Shadow Ball strikes true, colliding with the incoming Doublade and causing the clones to dissipate. The Shadow Ball slows the Doublade's momentum, greatly reducing the damage Laugh takes from the Iron Head. As the pair of ghosts square of once more, the Doublade is starting to look worn, its blade's hanging lower as it begins to tire.

Laugh had no idea what Terri was up to by ordering a Blizzard at the ground, but knowing she had to have her reasons, the Froslass trusted in her girlfriend and blasted the ground with snow and ice. And sure enough, Terri was right to suspect that Doublade was getting some additional help, for Palossand started to reform its castle body, and did so just in time for Blizzard to freeze it solid! "I knew it!" Terri declared.

Unfortunately, Blizzard didn't quite take care of the other problem they faced- the Double Team copies were still intact, they'd all floated out of reach of the arctic assault, including whichever was the real one. The Froslass attacked with Will-O-Wisp, but it merely struck down a Double Team copy. And then, all swords converged upon Laugh, moving in for Iron Head, prompting her to act, and act fast. The Froslass generated and launched a Shadow Ball, picking one at random...

...and nailing it! The Shadow Ball struck the real deal, causing the copies to vanish all at once! Iron Head still connected, but the direct hit from a super effective Shadow Ball destroyed Doublade's momentum, and the damage was greatly lessened.

Terri and Laugh exchanged looks. Brief looks, but confident, hopeful ones. They saw a light at the end of this tunnel, at long last- Doublade was weakening. The advantage was theirs to capitalize upon! Laugh wasted no time in whipping up an Ominous Wind, with the intention of following up with Shadow Ball after Shadow Ball. A barrage of super effective moves to finish Doublade off once and for all!

Missingno. Master- With the Doublade on the ropes, Laugh presses her slim advantage. There isn't much splitting them in terms of health, but in terms of drive and desire, Laugh is leagues ahead. The Froslass sends the Doublade tumbling back with an Ominous Wind, knowing full well that the blades are more dangerous within melee range. A barrage of Shadow Balls follows as Laugh looks to put an end to the swords to rest once and for all. The Doublade matches her ferocity, cutting down the Shadow Balls with an seemingly tireless chain of Shadow Claws. The exchange continues for quite some time, neither side giving in. You notice however that Doublade is slowly taking more and more damage, despite its ability to avoid taking full damage from the Shadow Balls. After a while you realise that the Shadow Balls must be causing its Special Defence to occasionally decrease! Watching eagerly, you can see the Doublade is close to breaking.

In a last ditch effort, the Doublade neglects an incoming Shadow Ball and instead lashes out at the frozen Palossand, shattering the ice encasing it with a final Shadow Claw. The Doublade is then struck by the Shadow Ball, sending it crashing to the ground as it withdraws its blades into its sheathes. You'd won.

Suddenly the Palossand howls, filled with rage it whips up a tremendous Sandstorm. You lose sight of everything except Laugh, who quickly races back to you. The pair of you are forced to endure the storm for a few minutes before the sands finally settle. Their is no sign of the Doublade, or the Palossand, or any of the other Ghost Pokemon. The lifeless husk of the lost traveller lays at the far side of the clearing, the Ghostium Z still glistening on the Z Ring on his wrist. The Doublade was still out there somewhere, you have a sickly feeling that one day it will come back with a vengeance.

Laugh had her advantage, and boy, oh, boy, did she press it! An Ominous Wind to create more distance, since Doublade was so adept at close-range fighting, and then a relentless onslaught of Shadow Balls! The Froslass's wrath was felt in the form of steadily building damage amid occasional Special Defense drops, something that gave Terri definite hope to see. And finally, Doublade decided to shatter the ice encasing Palossand with Shadow Claw, leaving it wide open to a powerful Shadow Ball that knocked it clean out at long last!

But Terri wasn't about to leave it there. She drew a red and white sphere from her bag, enlarging the Poké Ball as she glared at Doublade. "You'll never do this again," she vowed, bringing her arm back. "Poké Ball! Get it-"

But before Terri could throw the ball, Palossand acted immediately, whipping up a howling Sandstorm that forced Terri and Laugh to look out for themselves and each other above all else, not knowing what the sentient sandcastle might attempt now. And when the storm died down, they saw exactly what they attempted, and succeeded in; escape.

Terri gave a small sigh. Yes, they were alive (for lack of a better term in Laugh's case) and well. Yes, their ordeal was over. And yet... Doublade was still out there. It was exactly that disquieting thought that gave Terri the idea of catching Doublade- whether it could be trained was anyone's guess, but she figured at the very least this would've been better than it just roaming free, free to wreak havoc on other unsuspecting visitors, ones who might not have lucked out like Terri did. Alas, both Doublade and Palossand had clearly seen such a thing coming and successfully prevented it.

Laugh looked at Terri. "What do we do now?" she asked.

Terri looked back at the Froslass. "We tell the trial captain," she decided. "Warn her about Doublade, fill her in on exactly what it's been doing. Maybe there's something she can do, maybe she knows the right people to get on this. And," she added, approaching the dead body. "...I'm sure you were a very nice person," Terri said to the body. "And I'm sorry for what Doublade did to you and with you. I hope you're resting peacefully now... and I hope you're OK with me taking this," she added, plucking the Ghostium Z off of the deceased's Z-Ring. "Neither of us want Doublade getting to use its power again. I'll see to it this goes to a Trainer who can use it for good."

Laugh approached Terri at this point. "You're not keeping it for yourself?" she asked.

Terri shook her head. "As much use as I can think of for it, I'm not sure I'm the best suited for it," she stated. "Laugh, let's go," she added. "We've got to warn Primrose about Doublade." The Froslass nodded her agreement, and with that established, they sought to make their way out of this maze.

Basking in the comfort of the sun’s warmth, the fledgling trainer inspected the Pokemon that had decided amongst themselves who would be accompanying her on this journey. There was Caeda the Skarmory, Carl the Starly, Summer the Vulpix, Calem the Caterpie, Mae the Combee, and Tantei the Dedenne. As her Pokemon came out one by one, several of them seemed eager to eat some lunch, so Liawe decided that they might as well have a small picnic atop the nearest hill.

Despite the Galea Plains featuring lush grassy meadows for seemingly miles on end, the nearest hill that Liawe and her Pokemon climbed seemed to be somewhat gravelly. She paid it no mind however, as she picked out a good spot and spread out a small blanket. With her Pokemon all gathered around, they hungrily waited as Liawe procured a small assortment of sandwiches and berries. The smell was enticing and all six Pokemon seemed to be ready to dig in when suddenly everyone began to look around a little confused.

Liawe was perplexed, unable to decipher at first what was triggering the creatures’ heightened senses, but soon enough she heard it too. There was an unusual ringing sound, like high pitched metal creaking, but no one was able to pinpoint where it originated. Everyone began to look around curiously when all of a sudden Tantei gasped. The hungry little Dedenne was first to notice that their picnic had suddenly disappeared, blanket and all, with nothing but a hole in the ground remaining. What will Liawe do?

Well this was just splendid. Within minutes of arrival, lunch had already been stolen.

Moving quickly, Liawe peered down the hole the lunch appeared to have been removed with. It was... Odd. The hill was gravelly, so tunnels shouldn't really have been able to hold, yet there was definitely something tunnelling around and not getting caught, while stealing lunch at the same time. Tantei peered down too, clearly as perplexed as she was by the missing lunch. With a jolt she looked up, realising she needed to marshal her party together swiftly before things got out of hand again. It was unlikely with this lot, but her experiences had left her paranoid on that front. Mae was fluttering around looking confused, probably trying to smell out where lunch had gone. Meanwhile, Calem had climbed onto Carl's back, and the latter was now circling the hilltop, using the bird's keen eyesight to locate the potential thief, whereas Summer... had fallen asleep. Possibly the oddest thing to occur, including lunch being nicked. Perhaps the ringing noise had gotten to her.

In the meantime however, Caeda was furious at this indirect assault on her family, and was moving to take action. Opening her beak, she fired Scalding blast of water down the hole, causing Tantei to squeal and back off from the boiling water flow. Horrified, Liawe recalled Caeda. Her maternal instincts were useful at times, but her overreactions had gotten them all into trouble before, and now they had little else to do but sit and wait for the consequences...

Missingno. Master- The Doublade escapes before you can attempt a capture, but maybe that was for the best. There was no way of knowing whether a Pokemon with Doublade's resolve could be retrained. You pry the Ghostium Z from the deceased traveller's Z Ring, a cold shiver runs down your spine as you do so. You had no intention of keeping it for yourself, but you'd find someone who could put it to good use and perhaps even more importantly, keep it away from the Doublade. It was probably best for you to give Trial Captain Primrose a heads up as well, if something like Doublade was out there, it was a threat to everyone.

You and Laugh weave your way back through the maze, thankfully the journey back is much quicker. Even though you pass through the areas that were damaged by the Doublade's minions, you find the maze is completely replenished, even the burnt sections. It was strange for sure, but it was probably just the work of some enterprising Pokemon that Primrose had wander around in here. The Trial Captain is waiting for you as you exit the maze, perhaps she sensed something was up?

"You look exhausted Terri, did you get lost?" Primrose chuckles. You explain to her what you'd endured, making sure to mention the dead guy still laying in the middle of the maze. As you finish your tale, Primrose mutters something under her breath that you just managed to here. "So he's back." Primrose seems lost in thought for a moment, but soon snaps out of it and thanks you for your efforts. "Thanks a lot Terri, I doubt many people could have handled that situation like you did. I'll make sure that the traveller's family are contacted and that he receives a proper burial. As for Doublade, I'll inform the other Trial Captains. This isn't the first time someone has crossed paths with him, but its the first time someone has survived. I'm afraid he might come back with a vengeance." She digs into her pockets and produces a couple of TM's which she hands to you. A TM Shadow Ball and a TM Dark Pulse. "These should help if it comes after you again....."

Your current adventure is now complete. You may continue in this area or another, or start up in a different zone if you wish.

As Terri and Laugh made their way back out of the maze, they noticed a few things. First, since they went completely unimpeded this time around, the return trip went far faster than venturing inside. And second, the parts of the maze that had gotten damaged by Doublade's minions seemed to have repaired themselves. The work of enterprising Pokémon that patrolled the maze? Or... a strange property of the maze itself? Terri honestly wouldn't doubt either possibility.

And third, Primrose was waiting for them outside the maze, almost as though she could sense something was amiss. An excellent call on her part, to say the least, as Terri proved beyond all doubt by launching into the story. Laugh's kidnapping, the various Ghost-types impeding the rescue efforts, the high-stakes three-on-three battle, and how it all culminated in a final battle between Laugh and Doublade. Terri also made sure to mention the deceased traveler Doublade had been using as a meat suit. Remarkably, Primrose seemed unsurprised by any of this, muttering to herself that he was back. She thanked Terri, stating she was far from the first person Doublade's attempted such a thing with, but that she was the first one who lived to tell the tale. A decidedly unnerving thought, to say the least, but Terri smiled and thanked Primrose as she was handed a pair of Technical Machines. "Thank you," she responded, accepting the discs. "And for what it's worth, the maze was nice to explore, at least before all this started happening."

Following this, Terri and Laugh headed out for home. They were sure they'd be ready for whenever Doublade might strike back again, but for right now, they just wanted to go home and rest, try and put that life-threatening experience behind them. And maybe decide just who that Ghostium Z ought to go to...

*Adventure complete!*

Indeed, headed out towards the Starline River right here and now was one Willa Carnet. An aspiring Ace Trainer with an outfit to match, decked out in the fashion of Kalos's Ace Trainers and quite content to have this be the case. Willa was strolling out towards the river, smiling slightly, carrying a Fishing Rod that she'd borrowed from her boyfriend.

A Pokémon was walking alongside Willa. A small creature with a cute face, mitigated slightly by the alarmingly massive set of steel jaws growing out of her head. "Mawile maw?" she said.

"Of course I'm sure I can catch something," Willa assured her Mawile. "Keith's been teaching me, and he's quite good. He even told me about the time he hooked a School Form Wishiwashi."

Mawile raised an eyebrow. "Mawile?" she said skeptically.

"Of course I believe him," huffed Willa. "He's not a liar, Mawile."

"Maw Mawile wile," Mawile muttered, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, you're just annoyed that you beat Meowth so easily," stated Willa. "That speaks more to your strength than Meowth's weakness, I assure you. Now let's keep going, Mawile- the river awaits, as does whatever strong Pokémon reside within."

"Maw!" nodded Mawile, continuing to walk alongside her Trainer.

Missingno. Master - It doesn't take long for you to reach the banks of the Starline River, the calm water is crystal clear by the bank but grows darker towards the middle, where the deep water conceals everything from sight. Fishing rod in hand, and Mawile by your side, you decide its as good a time as ever to give your newly developed fishing skills to the test. You're boyfriend Keith had given you a crash course, but he wasn't here now and this would certainly be a test of how good a teacher he was, as well as how good of a student you were! You extend the pole, checking that the line is running smoothly along it. No knots, excellent! The lure hangs from the end of the line, providing a bit of weight that was necessary for casting the line. You take the stance that Keith had shown you, leaving a bit of slack in the line, you draw the rod over your shoulder before whipping it forward with fluid-like grace.

The lure whistles through the air before plopping into the darker water in the middle of the river. Now all you could do was wait, maybe jerk the rod occasionally to provoke something into chasing the lure, but the most important virtue for a fisherman (or fisherwoman) to possess was patience. Mawile takes a seat on the soft ground, she knows this could be a while. She couldn't be more wrong though, as downstream, something spots the lure. A dark shadow surges upriver, however you're so focused on the lure you don't even spot it until it hits the lure with tremendous force. The rod is almost ripped from your hands, and as you hang on with all your might, you almost find yourself pulled into the river! Whatever has taken your lure is being concealed by the dark water, but whatever it was, it was big! It surges upstream, dragging you along effortlessly. Mawile has leapt to her feet and is doing her best to keep up with you. She looks to you with concern, if need be she'd cut through the line with one snap of her metallic jaws. Your fishing lessons hadn't prepared you for something like this, you had a decision to make. Hold on and risk your life or possible lose the catch of a lifetime!

It was a lovely day, the river flowing calmly... conditions seemed perfect for a nice day of fishing. Willa gave a faint smile as she thought back to what Keith had taught her, thought back to the fishing lessons on board the Banette's Revenge. She checked the line, ensured there were no knots. She took the stance she'd learned, she cast the line, and to her satisfaction, it all went off without a hitch.

And now, she waited. Fishing required Wobbuffetesque levels of patience, for it could be a long time before anything actually happened. Hours, maybe even. Mawile knew this, too, and sat on the ground to wait out what would almost certainly be a long, boring-

Willa's startled gasp broke what Mawile so incorrectly assumed to be the beginning of a long, tedious wait. Something was on the line, to put it mildly, and whatever it was putting up a tremendous fight! Willa almost had the rod yanked right out of her hands, and she herself was almost pulled into the river! She peered into the river as she fought for control, but naught but a dark shadow could be seen. A big dark shadow- whatever she'd hooked was tremendous! And strong, too- Willa had to run just to keep up with whatever it was as it swam forcefully upstream.

Gah! Willa thought to herself. Whatever this is, it's going to pull me into the water soon! She then saw Mawile, trying desperately to keep up, gnashing her huge jaws with a concerned look. Willa understood immediately- she was offering to cut through the line. A tempting offer, too, to be certain, but alas, Willa didn't give up so easily.

"I appreciate it, Mawile, but if Keith could reel in a School Form Wishiwashi his first time, I can handle whatever this is. That said, he had help," she added, recalling how Keith told the story, how he had to enlist the help of some of his Pokémon. Mawile, unfortunately, wasn't exactly big or powerful enough to help in any way other than what she was already offering to do... Dartrix would likely be better suited for battling whatever was on the line than helping reeling it in... No, she needed someone to help hold her steady so she could dig in her heels and really fight to reel in this catch.

"Yanmega!" Willa exclaimed, and at that, one of her Ultra Balls burst open, the Ogre Darner Pokémon appearing in a flash of light, keeping up with much greater ease than Mawile. And moreover, Yanmega didn't even need to be given any orders- as he materialized, as he saw his Trainer's predicament, he knew exactly why he'd been called upon. He made to hold onto Willa with his legs and help her to fight back. Willa gave a small, grateful nod as Yanmega did this, then turned to Mawile. "Be ready for when I reel this in," she said to the Deceiver Pokémon. "Prepare yourself with Swords Dance just in case, and try and soften it up with Fake Tears once it can see you. Whatever this is..." she murmured, fighting valiantly to gain control over the situation.

"Maw..." murmured Mawile. She was willing to do as Willa said, and even to retaliate with a Power-Up Punch if the situation turned out to make it necessary. She was also ready to chomp through the line if things got dire, but was at least willing to wait and see how things played out here first. Yanmega, after all, was no weakling. Between his strength and Willa's stubbornness, maybe they really could reel in whatever beast she'd hooked.

Missingno. Master- There was no way you were letting this catch get away. It would literally blow Keith's first catch story out of the water! As long as you reeled it in with minimal harm to yourself, everything would be fine. That said, you were in need of assistance. You consider the team you have on hand and one clear solution pops into mind. Shouting at the top of your lungs, one of the Ultra Balls on your belt promptly pops open, releasing the Yanmega within. The Ogre Darner Pokemon needed no instruction, seeing you in peril he clutches onto you with his legs and begins to beat his powerful wings to try and counter the pull of whatever was on the end of the line.

It doesn't really help much. Even as the Yanmega's wings begin to beat faster, increasing as its Speed Boosts, it struggle to even slightly slow your advance upstream. As if sensing the increased resistance, your catch yanks at the line, pulling you off your feet and into the air. If not for Yanmega, you'd probably be in the water at this point, but instead you find yourself hovering over the river. It looks like you've invented PokeParasailing! With no anchor to the ground, the mysterious Pokemon is able to pull you with increased speed. You catch sight of a spiky white dorsal fin jutting out of the water for split second, perhaps giving you an indication of what you are actually dealing with. Falling into the water wasn't really a risk anymore, but you had made no progress in stopping the mysterious Pokemon's advance upstream. Mawile prepares herself with a Swords Dance, but at the moment she has no idea what she is up against....

Keith Masters was well known for numerous things. His affinity for Poison-types. His skills as a Trainer. His cowboy hat. Just to name a few. But one thing he was known for quite well was his stubbornness. And while the old saying goes "opposites attract", that ain't always the case. Case in point, Willa was every bit as stubborn as her boyfriend, and thus was not about to let this catch get away! The realization of just how daunting, if not impossible, a task it'd be to reel it in only strengthened her resolve. Overcoming the seemingly impossible has always been what she was about. Growing up with a league Champion for a mother, with ambitions of someday becoming a Champion herself, there was no uphill climb too steep for Willa Carnet to attempt.

However, this proved to be a very, very uphill climb indeed, just reeling in this Pokémon. Even with Yanmega holding on, Willa's attempts to stand her ground may as well have been a Splash attack for all the good it did. All it did was make the catch yank harder in response to the increased resistance, which pulled Willa off her feet! Had Yanmega not been holding on, she'd be in the river by now! "Maw! Mawile!" Mawile called after her, running along the shore, trying to keep up.

"Yan ya..." grunted Yanmega, beating his wings furiously, faster and faster as Speed Boost continued to kick in, but he couldn't even slow down this beast of a catch.

And then, Willa saw it. Just for a split second, she spotted a spiky white dorsal fin jutting out of the water. A fin like that, she realized, could only mean one of two Pokémon, at least that she'd ever seen, and somehow she sincerely doubted she was being dragged by a really big Red-Striped Basculin. It's a Gyarados, she thought to herself. It has to be! But then I can't just let this go, such a powerful Pokémon!

Quickly, Willa started throwing together a plan in her mind, largely making things up as she went along. "Yanmega!" she called to her trusty starter. "Ancient Power, aim it into the water just ahead of us!" Seeing an attack coming right in front of it would surely make the Gyarados stop, or at least slow down, to the point where Yanmega could get Willa back onto land safely. Of course, then there was the matter of battling it, but Willa had that inevitability thought out as well. But first, they had to get the damn thing to surface! And Yanmega was thinking along similar lines himself, intending to follow up the Ancient Power with Icy Wind attacks to further slow down this gargantuan catch. And Mawile hadn't forgotten her plan of action, either- a Swords Dance to prepare herself, a Fake Tears to try and soften up the catch, and a Power-Up Punch to further strengthen herself.

Missingno. Master- With only the smallest of clues, you discern what you believe to be the identity of the mysterious Pokemon. A Gyarados! All the pieces fit, the incredible strength, the aggression and most importantly, the spiky white dorsal fin. If this truly was a Gyarados, you certainly weren't letting it get away! You needed to force it to stop if you were going to have any chance of reeling it in, luckily you had a plan for that. You order Yanmega to fire an Ancient Power in front of it. A Super Effective attack would likely make the Gyarados reconsider the direction it is heading, perhaps even force it to surface so you could engage it properly.

Yanmega has a bit of trouble getting the shot off while holding you, but the Bug type eventually succeeds. The orb of rock energy splashes into the water, setting off a small explosion of energy. What follows isn't exactly great. Water rains down as the Gyarados erupts from the water, letting out a tremendous roar as it stretches its serpentine body upwards. The enraged face that glares down upon you is one that would put nightmares to shame. With a whip of its head it finally manages to rip the rod from your grasp, perhaps due to its Intimidating glare leaving both you and your Pokemon unsettled. It catches the rod between its powerful jaws and crushes it in an instant, sending splinters flying. It drops the shattered rod into the water, the lure however, still hangs from its mouth.

With holding onto the rod no longer of concern, Yanmega flies you to shore, placing you down before zipping around to place itself between yourself and the Gyarados. Mawile had finished preparing herself with a Swords Dance, but with the Gyarados sitting in the middle of the river, their was no way for her to reach it with melee attacks. Instead she puts on a rouse, crying helplessly to try and unsettle the Gyarados. It doesn't seem to pay her much attention, it cares little for her Fake Tears, limiting the success of the attack. Yanmega has a little more success as he blasts the titanic terror with an Icy Wind, slowing its movement speed but it doesn't even seemed phased by the damage. The pseudo dragon gathers flames in its more, before unleashing a powerful Fire Blast! The giant figure of flame surges forward, Yanmega uses its speed to avoid the majority of the flames, but Mawile is a sitting duck. The attack hits her completely, sending her flying and setting the grass alight. The Steel type struggles to regain her feet, her body badly burnt by the unexpected attack. With one blow the Gyarados had almost knocked her out, were you biting off more that you could chew?

Yanmega had his work cut out for him, aiming and firing an Ancient Power while also keeping Willa in midair, but the Ogre Darner Pokémon managed it nonetheless. Thus far, Willa's plan was going perfectly... but this, however, was where said perfection came to a screeching halt.

The Pokémon surfaced, indeed a Gyarados as Willa had deduced, and it was not happy. The sheer size combined with the great and obvious anger served to Intimidate both Willa and Yanmega. Willa did not scare easily, but this terrified her. So much so that it took Keith's Fishing Rod getting ripped clean out of her hands to snap her out of it. Willa gave a small gasp as her boyfriend's Fishing Rod was crushed to splinters by Gyarados's teeth. However, Yanmega got moving- holding onto the rod was no longer an issue, to put it one way, so now he could focus on getting Willa safely on land.

Mawile sprang into action, as best as she could under the circumstances- Fake Tears was all well and good, and she'd already used Swords Dance, but Gyarados was a bit beyond her reach, being out in the water like that. Mawile didn't know if her kind could even swim, and didn't feel like this was the best time to find out. However, even the Fake Tears proved woefully ineffective, Gyarados not caring in the slightest as it... breathed fire?! Yes, Gyarados was retaliating to Mawile's move with a vicious Fire Blast! Yanmega was able to evade the move, but Mawile took the full force of the move. "No! Mawile!" Willa exclaimed, the Deceiver Pokémon sent flying by the super effective move. Bits of the grass were on fire, and Mawile had sustained heavy damage and a nasty burn from the attack.

Willa gritted her teeth. Gyarados had landed a powerful move, nearly knocking Mawile out in a single hit! And a Fire Blast, no less- Yanmega and Dartrix were hardly the way to go here. And even without the revelation of its knowledge of Fire Blast, Willa was already hesitant to use Dartrix against a species that can so easily learn Ice Fang. Eelektross was the obvious choice, but as Willa reached for her Ultra Balls, she knew that was no good- Gyarados was still in the water. If Gyarados got zapped, so did everything in the river, and Willa wouldn't have that. However, there was another extreme weak point Gyarados possessed, and Willa knew exactly how to strike at it, obscure as it may be.

"Mawile, come back now!" Willa called out, deftly aiming the Ultra Ball and withdrawing her Mawile. Much as she wanted to use this little adventure as a chance for her and Mawile to get to know each other better, right now the only thing Mawile wanted to get to know better was a Pokémon Center healing machine. Willa then flung another Ultra Ball out towards the water. "Lapras!" she exclaimed as the Transport Pokémon materialized, landing in the water with a splash, and if it wasn't a big enough one to extinguish the flames on the grass, she was going to kick more up with her fins to make that happen. But her focus, as well as Willa's, was on the Gyarados. Willa didn't even have to issue orders- at least, not verbally. Lapras as a species were highly intelligent and able to read minds, and Willa's was no exception- Lapras knew to fire off an Ancient Power, not only for the damage but also to hopefully bolster her own capabilities for the battle ahead. Following that, she was going to attempt another Ancient Power. Twice the Ancient Powers, twice the damage, and twice the odds of that coveted boost. And after that, she'd go for the Freeze-Dry. All of the quadruple super effective goodness without the risk of electrocuting every fish in the Starline River in the process.

Missingno. Master- Maybe stopping the Gyarados was a mistake, but it wasn't something you could dwell on. The mighty monster had shown itself to be incredibly capable, you'd have to pull out all the stops. Recalling Mawile, you consider calling on your Eelektross, but fear of hurt other Pokemon in the water puts a stop to that plan. Instead you decide to take a different approach and release your Lapras into the water. As they always say, you've got to fight water with water! No, wait, that's fire....

Lapras splashes down into the water, unfortunately the steep banks prevent her from splashing any water up to put out the burning grass, but this isn't really necessary as it soon stops burning anyway. Gyarados looms over its new opponent, Lapras was big but even it paled it comparison to the Gyarados. The Pokemon seemed to be in amazing condition, its scales seemed to sparkle as the light struck them, its fins were like unblemished ivory. Lapras gathers up Ancient Power and fires it at the Gyarados. The opposing Water type had seen this attack before, it didn't like it. It gathers a mass of energy between its jaws, the growing mass of golden energy was unmistakable. A Hyper Beam tears through the orb of Rock energy as Lapras fires it, disintegrating it like its nothing. Lapras is pushed back through the water as she is smashed by the Hyper Beam. The Gyarados heaves with exhaustion, while the attacks power truly was tremendous, it left it wide open for a reply.

Lapras regathers herself, she couldn't miss her opportunity. She gathers another Ancient Power, the last one hadn't connected or given her a boost, maybe she'd have more luck this time. She lands the super effective attack, causing the Gyarados to reel slightly. Unfortunately she doesn't receive a boost, but beggars can't be choosers. Now it was time for the big show. Freeze Dry, capable of dealing super effective damage to Water Pokemon, but with Gyarados' additional Flying typing, the technique would hopefully be devastating. Lapras fires a beam of super cold ice, causing Gyarados to howl in pain as the water begins to freeze around it, securing it in place. Not only had Lapras managed to deal a considerable amount of damage, she'd restricted its movement!

However, something isn't right. Gyarados continues to howl, even as Lapras finishes her attack. As Gyarados lowers its head, it lets loose an incredible Hurricane. The gale force winds slam into Lapras, causing her to spin uncontrollably as she is battered by the attack. By the time the wind subsides she is clearly unsteady, shes confused!

Seeing the massive, monstrous Gyarados got Willa wondering, was holding on and being so persistent a mistake? Perhaps. But whether this was truly the case or not had yet to be seen, and Willa knew that the answer lay in the outcome of this battle. After all, Willa was far from defenseless, possessing a number of extremely capable Pokémon. Mawile had been almost knocked out by a single Fire Blast, true enough, but that had more to do with Mawile's preferred battle style simply not being effective against this thing. Willa simply had to use Pokémon more capable of landing big, powerful hits on the sea serpent. Like Lapras, for that matter- the Transport Pokémon was ready and willing to unleash some powerful moves. However, her first attempt at Ancient Power was disrupted by a freaking Hyper Beam. Lapras was pushed back, Hyper Beam cutting through the Ancient Power like an extremely violent knife through really old butter.

However, Lapras was far from out of this, and took advantage of the mandatory recharge period Hyper Beam incurred by landing another Ancient Power. She hadn't been boosted by the move, but it was super effective nonetheless. And if you thought that was something, Lapras followed up with a beautiful little technique called Freeze-Dry. The only Ice-type move to be super effective on Water-types, and with Gyarados being part Flying as well, this move hit like a truck.

Super effective or not, however, Gyarados was far from out of this. It let loose a powerful Hurricane, spinning Lapras uncontrollably with swirling gale-force winds, and when the attack concluded, Lapras was still conscious... but she reeled from confusion! Willa gritted her teeth- this was not good! Lapras needed her wits about her in this fight!

"Yan! Ya!"

Willa blinked and looked up at her Yanmega. The Bug/Flying-type was looking at her intently, and Willa realized almost immediately what her starter was getting at. She nodded and dug into her Berry Bag, extracting a Lum Berry from within. Yanmega's intention, as Willa had guessed, was indeed to grab the berry from Willa and see that it made it into Lapras's mouth. Ideally, with all the Speed Boost increases Yanmega had racked up earlier, he'd be able to do this in no time at all. And once Lapras was successfully cured of confusion, Willa had several new orders at the ready- another Freeze-Dry, obviously, followed by a soothing Sing attack. It wouldn't completely defeat the Gyarados, but, Willa reasoned as she reached into her bag with her free hand (for the other one was still holding out the Lum Berry for Yanmega to deliver), she didn't really need it to. Her fingers closed around a small sphere that she enlarged with the press of a button- she wouldn't throw the Ultra Ball until Sing landed, or until an otherwise opportune moment presented itself, but by Arceus, she was gonna throw it at that Gyarados one way or another.

(OOC: Lum Berry is #1 of 5, Ultra Ball is #7 of 10)

Missingno. Master- Despite managing to deal some considerably damage to the Gyarados, it seemed to be full of answers and with a powerful Hurricane it had turn Lapras into a sitting Ducklett. In a confused state, there was no way Lapras could tangle with this Gyarados. Thankfully Yanmega knew just what to do. It claws at your bag and you soon realise that it is trying to get at a Lum Berry, so you quickly dig one out for it. As soon as the Yanmega has the berry, it zips down to deposit it in Lapras' mouth. The Ice type feels almost instant relief, her mind clearing quickly. Now it was time to hit the Gyarados with another Freeze Dry!

Yeah, Gyarados isn't about to let that happen. The Gyarados begins to Torment Lapras, preventing her from repeating the same technique that she'd used to cause so much pain. The way Gyarados was able to counter your orders, it was as if it had experience far beyond that of a wild Pokemon. Unable to use Freeze Dry just yet, Lapras instead attempts to Sing a song in hopes of soothing the raging beast. Unfortunately it doesn't take too kindly to the melody and promptly drowns it out with a tremendous Roar! Lapras is scared so much that she retreats down river, dipping under the water in hopes of concealing herself, who could blame her?

With Lapras cowering in fear and the Gyarados showing no signs of stopping, perhaps the only way to stop it is to capture it? You through a Hail Mary, tossing an Ultra Ball at the Water Serpent, but the ball promptly bounces back as soon as it strikes the Gyarados. The ball flashes, what was going on?

"Hey!" A voice booms out from up river, as you turn to face it a woman rushes out of a thicket of trees. "Leave my Gyarados alone!"
