Though the Pokemon at your side had certainly been helpful, you knew you needed a different set of skills. You called out your Ferroseed, Pridwen, who looked didn’t look very happy to see you. Despite his grumpiness, he followed your orders and quickly rolled away. You watched him easily scale a dirt wall and quietly find a place on the ceiling. Pridwen waited a few moments, then fired a pin missile into an orb that floated a bit too close to him. As the spine hit, the orb of light distorted a bit, then split in two. Each new orb floated off in a different direction, and Pridwen’s attack soared down into the middle of the mushroom circle. A few Parasect guards surrounded the pin, looking over it with caution and curiosity. One reached out a claw to poke at it. They peered up at the dark ceiling, and Pridwen worried he was caught. He quickly shone Mirror Shot down on Parasect. As the attack surged toward Parasect, the orbs surrounding it grouped up like a shield. The orbs broke apart into smaller versions of themselves again, scattering along with the Mirror Shot

Seeing the signal, Herex barreled over the large root and let out a terrifying Roar. Several Paras guards scuttled away in fear, and braver ones stood their ground with angry looks on their faces. They quickly organized themselves in to lines of a few Paras each, and the first line ran toward Herex. They battered her hard-shelled body with a barrage of Scratches. In defense Herex sent out Infestation, and tiny bug-like projections covered her attackers. Following orders, she sent some of them toward the Parasect, and the glowing orbs surrounded the attack again, dispersing into tinier and tinier orbs of light. The Infestation covered the Paras attacking Herex, which prevented them from running away from the Drapion’s further attacks. Glasspine followed close behind Herex, careful to not get caught up in her attack. He directed Poison Stings at the next wave of Paras that came toward him. A few were deterred by the poison seeping through their body. The others jumped onto the Sandshrew and Scratched him as well. Glasspine started his next attack, and a Gyro Ball knocked the Paras off of him. There were still several guards left standing, that looked to be planning their next move. Tiny glowing orbs of light danced around the Parasect, but were unable to reform. On the wall next to Pridwen, an observant Paras had begun climbing to investigate.

Plans were made and set into motion as the Ferroseed rolled up the root and onto the roof before securing himself in the earth and surveying the scene, waiting for the prime moment to strike as Alex, Herex and Glasspine waited for the signal, the human keeping an eye on the orbs. As one drifted close to Pridwen, the steel type fired one pin into it, the orb splitting in two and both halves floating apart, while the projectile embedded into the ground. A few of the Paras approached the object and began to prod at it curiously, and with their attention distracted, Pridwen felt that his cover could be blown swiftly. Focusing energy before him, he launched a burst of light towards the Parasect, only for the orbs to converge before it like a shield, scattering and negating the attack. However, that was the required signal.

"Now!" Alex whispered, motioning an arm over the root to the poison and ground pokemon. Taking charge, Herex grabbed the root and vaulted over it, landing on her feet deftly and eliciting a ferocious roar that echoed through the cave. The sight of a big scary bug was intimidation enough for numerous Paras which fled immediately, while the braver ones - or those under command of the Parasect? - stood their ground, anger in their beady eyes. Organising themselves into lines of a few bugs each, the Paras advanced upon the Drapion and began to scratch at her carapace, to her annoyance. In retaliation, the scorpion shook and released a torrent of energy from the cracks in her armour, the bug energy forming an infestation around the Paras assailing her, while another stream of the swarming force lanced towards Alex's quarry, only to once more be intercepted by the orbs, which only shrank further and scattered once more, unusual behaviour unfamiliar to Alex.

Bringing up the rear, the Sandshrew nipped into the fray, throwing a spray of stingers at the second wave, who responded in similar fashion, which seemed to suggest to Alex that the Paras weren't well developed and relatively weak, utilising overwhelming odds to defeat foes. This train of thought seemed to be confirmed as Glasspine threw his group off with a whirling motion and metallic sheen, all the while the remaining guards stood by, planning their next action. Between the specks of light, failing to merge as they danced around the Parasect, the surprise assault appeared to have succeeded. On the wall, one of the wiser insects chose to investigate the ceiling, and with the situation starting to make some sense and position rumbled, there was little point in the human hiding. Gripping the root, Alex tensed legs before barking at the group.

"Prid, mind your six! Knock that Paras down with a mirror shot, then reinforce yourself with iron defence and drop off the roof and strike Parasect with metal claw...somehow. Herex, sweep aside the Paras with iron tail and blast at the big guy with a dark pulse, then sink a poison fang into its flank, but mind the mushroom! Glass, put some distance between you and the bugs with aerial ace to cut across the cave, then return fire with a rock slide aimed towards the lesser pokemon, then keep them contained in a sand tomb!" With all said and done, the trainer proceeded to try and vault over the root and to find an opening in the skirmish to get closer to the Parasect, as well as to get a closer look at those orbs. There was something unsettling about them that didn't fit comfortably with him...

Once Jayson and Spartacus were ready, they turned to face Petro, who patted the X on his chest to issue the challenge of ‘hit me if you can’ with a smirk on his face.

Taking Petro up on his challenge, Spartacus readies his scythes and charged forward with blinding speed. Despite all of his confidence, Petro was unable to make a move and Spartacus’ False Swipe struck him right on the target. “One point for Spartacus,” Samuel called out, looking over at the grumbling expression on Petro’s face. Spartacus turned back around, ready for his next attempt on the Sudowoodo. His scythes glowed green, something Jayson had seen plenty of recently. As Spartacus flew toward Petro with a Fury Cutter, the fake tree gave off a Tearful Look which surprised Spartacus. The sudden change in demeanor made him flinch and the strike hit Sudowoodo on the side, not the target.

“Miss!” Samuel called out. As Spartacus met eyes with Reaper, the trial captain’s Scyther looked on with a mocking smirk. Meanwhile, Petro grinned mischievously as its plan worked. Spartacus had one point down but he would need to score two more in order to pass the simulation and as Petro had just shown, he wasn’t going to make this easy. As Jayson paused to think up his next strategy, the Sudowoodo patiently lie in wait.
For a moment Jayson thought that Spartacus was going to nail the training on his first attempt, but the Sudowoodo had other ideas. A tearful look was all that was needed to throw Spartacus off. He had always trouble keeping his emotions in check, it made him vulnerable and it was something they would have to work through.

"Good try Spartacus, try again and I think we will get it", Jayson gave the Scyther some praise, hoping he wouldn't get too down on himself. Atalanta and Odysseus cheered him on, they were eager to see their teammate succeed. Boudicca didn't really seem to care that much, she was busy munching away at the grass, it seemed she had worked up an appetite.

Spartacus took a deep breath, Focusing his Energy he prepared to go at the Sudowoodo again, this time he would be successful. Turning, he nodded at his trainer. It was all Jayson needed to see, he knew Spartacus would pull it off this time."Alright Spartacus, False Swipe then Fury Cutter again!"

Jayson was starting to get anxious, he was eager to start the trial. Picking up a new tool like Cut would certainly help level the playing field but Jayson knew that Samuel's Scyther was an experienced cutter. Spartacus couldn't hope to match its skills in such a short time period, they would need to inhibit it during the trial if they were going to beat it. Luckily, having a Scyther of his own meant that he knew the Pokemon's weaknesses, something he could exploit during the trial.

Though you could still only see part of your team, you made sure they were on top of guarding the flag. Your Staryu positioned itself next to your Tangrowth, providing light and an extra pair of eyes for any blind spots. Water bubbled up around Miapladicus’ gem, and Berue swung her vines out wide. They waited, but could only hear the chirping of far off bug Pokemon. Suddenly, there was the sound of scuffling feet against the dirt. Miapladicus fired of a water gun into the darkness, and the sound retreated farther away.

Louise began to run, strengthening her cranium with the power of her move. Looking behind her, she could see Miapladicus and Berue throwing attacks into the darkness, and the silhouette of something small running around the Illuminated area. Bracing herself, she swung the mouth on the back of her head into something hard. She heard a metallic rattle, as well as cry of pain. A growl came soon after, directly to her left. Louise charged up electricity in her fist. As she swung, it created enough light to see a pair of glowing red eyes. Lulu grabbed her attacking fist with a paw, wincing as she endured the hit. Louise felt the Lycanroc’s grip tighten.

A blinding light surrounded the battlefield. The Pokemon, as well as you and Madoka, shielded their eyes as the bright moon appeared in the sky once more. Directly underneath the glowing orb was Lunatone. It was spinning rapidly, but seemed to be slowing down. Eclipsing the moon had taken a lot out of it. Your vision cleared, and you spotted Elenchos face down on the ground, unmoving. Madoka’s flag had been bumped by Louise’s Iron Head, but still stayed upright in its stand. Carbink looked worse for the wear floating next to it. Godzilla looked shocked that the battlefield was lit up once again and he couldn’t continue teasing Berue and Miapladicus. Somewhat sheepishly, he ducked behind a stone lantern. Despite the delay, Madoka’s Lycanroc Countered Louise’s punch, sending her tumbling away from Madoka’s flag and toward the trees. From the other side of the field, Madoka waved at you and smiled.
Light returned to the playing field, and with it, mixed news: on one hand, Elen had indeed fallen while the pitch black shroud of darkness had covered everything, while on the other one, it seemed like two of Madoka's pokemon were about ready to do the same. The problem was, of course, that the biggest threat on the shrine maiden's team was not one of the near-collapse individuals and was clearly doing quite a number on Louise. Things were certainly looking grim now that they could look like anything at all, which was hardly a reassuring thought to have.

The first step to resolving this issue would most likely getting the mawile backup, and fast. Seeing as Godzilla the larvitar was hardly in fighting shape anymore, Chroma decided that she could spare a little presence on her side of the path. "Mia/Plad, use Rapid Spin to quickly go to Louise' aid and blast the carbink with a Water Gun when you get the chance!"

The trainer nodded in recognition when she caught Madoka's wave, before contemplating what to do about the larvitar. Elastic as Berue's vines may be, even they had a limit to where they could strike, and the Rock Skin Pokemon was certainly cautious enough now to stay a safe distance away. Well, the vine-shrouded witch wasn't without her little tricks, and it seemed that human and tangrowh came to the same idea simultaneously. "Alright, Berue, let's even the playing field. Spread your Rage Powder to draw them in and strike them with one final Vine Whip! Then keep an eye out for the lunatone- that thing's not going to stay tired forever, after all!"

On Madoka's side of things, Louise was clearly less than pleased with being forced further from her objective yet again. 'Alright, if that's the way you want to play it... How many rocks can you catch?!' The Deceiver Pokemon swiftly conjured and threw an Ancient Power at Lulu, strafing off to one side in order to keep some distance between herself and the lycanroc while trying not to increase her distance from the flag. She then tapped into her natural Fairy energies and blew a sharp Wind at her foe's face, hoping to frustrate the Wolf Pokemon- assuming she didn't somehow go down to this assault, of course.

Naruxami:
Vinny was tired, exhausted, and worn down by the effects of the poison, and yet at the same time, there was a feeling inside of her as if she was experiencing a physical epiphany that was unlocking her inner potential. Through heavy breaths she listened as Isaac called out his strategy to finish off the opposing Stunky, who was laboring as well. As she listened, Vinny let the beams of sunlight trickling down from above warm her fur, giving her a kind of natural glow.

Stunky hissed loudly, signaling that it was ready to engage in combat once more, focusing Vinny’s attention on it. The skunk pounced forward, clawed ready to Scratch the Eevee, but Vinny pawed furiously at the ground, Digging a tunnel underground once again. Stunky hissed again in frustration and scanned the area to try and detect where its opponent might resurface. A few moments passed by and neither Stunky nor Isaac saw any signs of Vinny.

However, as Stunky continued to look around impatiently, Isaac finally spotted something unusual right behind Stunky’s odorous tail. A single blade of grass began sprouting from the soil. It was rather large for a typical blade of grass, however, and once Stunky picked up a scent, it whipped around to face the blade. Where the blade of grass stood Vinny suddenly burst from the ground, knocking Stunky backwards with a yelp. The Eevee landed on four feet, but something was off about her appearance. The tips of her ears and tail had turned a greenish hue, and that blade of grass seemed to be attached to Vinny’s head like a cowlick. “Vee!” Vinny called out, to which Stunky responded with a “Key!”

The two Pokemon charged at each other, Stunky’s claws bared for another Scratch while Vinny prepared to Tackle. As they leapt at each other, Vinny began to glow, and upon collision Stunky was knocked down by the hit. Vinny grew slightly larger and more streamlined while her ears and tail grew longer and flatter. As Stunky toppled over defeated, Vinny ceased her glowing, revealing a brand new Leafeon. Congratulations, Vinny has evolved into a Leafeon and grown 3 levels!

With their mission now accomplished, Vinny’s adrenaline began to wear off, revealing how tired she actually was, and still poisoned on top of that. It would be up to Isaac to find a way to go heal her if he wanted to use her in battle again any time soon. Meanwhile, the Stunky lay before him as well, if he felt like making a capture. Once all of this was settled, it would then be up to him to decide where to travel next.

Determined to get this training down, Jayson and his spectating Pokemon cheered Spartacus the Scyther on. Spartacus knew firsthand that this Sudowoodo was going to be trickier than initially expected, so he began to Focus his Energy in preparation for the next strike by blocking out all distractions. Petro continued to flex confidently while Reaper watched on with mild amusement. Once he finished listening to Jayson’s suggestions, Spartacus opened his eyes and turned to face his target.

Spartacus started things off by flying straight at the Sudowoodo with blades at the ready. However, Petro was expecting this and began Hardening his petrified exterior to stave off the attack. Petro’s now shiny exterior made it hard to pinpoint the X-shaped scar, but with his focused resolve Spartacus sliced it with a critical False Swipe right on target. Spartacus didn’t miss a beat, turning to quickly follow up his strike with his next attack. Petro stuck out his foot to Kick Spartacus Low and try to trip him up, but the Scyther was quicker, rolling his body midair to dodge the attack and simultaneously hit Petro with a Fury Cutter, scythes glowing green.

The two Pokemon separated and Petro had a disappointed look on his face. “Two hits for Spartacus!” Samuel called out with a big smile. Jayson and Spartacus looked relieved, having cleared the test and ready to receive their training. However, to their confusion, Samuel answered, “Good job, your training is already over! Watch this!” Without any warning, the lumberjack picked up a piece of firewood and flung it directly at Spartacus’ face. The Scyther instinctively whipped his scythe up to defend himself, Cutting the block of wood clean in half. Congratulations, Spartacus has learned HM Cut and grown 1 level!

“See, he’s a natural!” Samual laughed, putting his hands on his hips. “So, what would you like to do now? Did you want to do a little more training or do you think you’re ready to take on my trial? It’s no inconvenience to me either way.” Jayson was now faced with a decision. What would he do?

Missingno. Master – You are surprised at all of the chaos that is happening in the orchard at first but after Granny Smith explains you can understand exactly what is happening here. There is certainly no coincidence that all of this revolves around the Nanab Berry. It’s surprising that so many Pokemon seem to have fallen for that old man’s sales pitch but there is no doubt that it has certainly been working out for him. Once everything is done being explained, you decide that you and Miror will certainly do what you can to help. That Kricketot that was thrown out of the tree seems to need the most help at the moment since that fall really must have hurt. After sending out Dudley you lead him over to the crying Pokemon and ask him to heal him up. The Shiny Slowbro stares at the Kricketot for a few seconds as he tries to comprehend the situation.

Eventually, Dudley does as you asked and uses his Heal Pusle on the Kricketot which seems to work perfectly. The Kricketot wipes the last of its tears away and then looks up at you through eyes that are still glistening from the tears that were once there. Now that you have its full attention, you take this opportunity to explain the situation to the little bug. Once Miror begins to explain the Pokemon’s expression slowly becomes tense and upset. It is understanding exactly what you two are getting at and it’s clear that it is becoming quite angry about the entire situation, it’s great because it’s clear you’re getting through to it. Suddenly, you hear the faint laughter of some Pokemon coming from the tree above you, it sounds almost as if it’s trying to contain it but is letting some laughs slip out. You look up in order to try and see what exactly is in that tree since it must be what threw this Kricketot out in the first place but the moment you look up all you see is a Nanab Berry flying right for your face!

Your reflexes kick in and you instinctively catch it in order to prevent it from hitting you and now you’re standing there with one of the highly sought berries in your hand. The Kricketot’s mood shifts and it begins to yell at Miror about how it can see you two were just trying to trick it so that you could take all of the Nanab Berries for yourselves. The Kricketot runs past Dudley who is still looking at the spot the Kricketot was previously standing and charges right up to Miror and Growls at him out of anger! “TOT!!!” The Pokemon yells and suddenly a nearby Rattata’s attention turns toward the sound and also notices the berry in your hand. “Rattata!!” It charges over with full speed and Tackles your leg causing you to stumble but you manage to regain your balance. You notice that the laughter in the tree is getting louder now, whatever is up there really can’t contain itself after witnessing all of this. The Kricketot is seriously glaring at Miror for trying to trick it and appears to be Biding its time. The Rattata on the other hand is only eyeing up that berry and you aren’t sure what it plans on doing next but one thing that’s for sure is that it would probably be a very bad thing if any more attention is drawn to you right now since you are holding what all of those Pokemon are after. What will you do?

----------------------

Meetan – It was a good thing that Greg had given himself away because you had started to doubt yourself once again. But now that you were sure he was the bad guy, you had no problem with taking over for Joe who seems to be having trouble accepting this new situation. You call out a strategy to both of your Pokemon plus Franklin. Franklin gives you a salute and turns toward the battle. After throwing down some Toxic Spikes both of the Trubbish shoot off their Acid Sprays at the same time, each of them aimed at different targets. Franklin immediately begins to Spin Rapidly before the attacks have a chance to land which manages to cut through both of the attacks, even the one that was aimed at Axel just like you had hoped. It wasn’t completely perfect though because as usual the spin attack manages to cause droplets of the mess to land all over the place. You weren’t hit this time but you can see spots on the ground sizzling where the acid hit.

The Trubbish don’t skip a beat and switch to their Sludge attacks. Franklin had stopped spinning at this point but was right in front of Axel who grabbed onto the Wartortle and Teleported them both out of the way. His judgement was slightly off because they both still got hit by some of the Sludge but the attack wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it would have been if they took the hit full on. Axel and Franklin nodded at each other after this and both of them immediately went back into attack mode. Axel charged in and slammed into one of the Trubbish with Zen Headbutt the Trubbish is knocked back a bit but doesn’t flinch and notices Axel inhale which makes it remember what happened the last time and it rolls out of the way as Axel exhales his Blow Back attack causing it to miss. While this was going down Franklin was using his water moves just like he was told on the other Trubbish. His first move was a Bubble that misses but he manages to get a powerful Water Gun to hit the Pokemon.

“Attaboy Franklin!” There is suddenly a voice behind you so you turn around and there is Ivan! “Hey there, beautiful.” He gives you a wink and then goes back to looking around in order to assess the situation. “Ivan!!” It would seem that Joe has noticed Ivan’s arrival as well. “Sup, Joe?” Ivan seems as calm as ever. “Sup!? Obviously, we are having a bit of a situation here! And what about the cabin??” Joe is a bit flustered, it’s the first he has spoken since finding out Greg is not actually a ranger. “Yeah, about that… Some crazy rich lady showed up and started rambling on about something or other so I bailed. Franklin left first and I thought I’d never get away but it looks like it’s a good thing I did!” Ivan nervously smiles at Joe. “Y-you can’t just bail when things get – you know what, nevermind. I’m happy you’re here, man. Listen, Tank ran off a while ago and I’m really worried. Do you mind taking over here while I go get him? I will come back as soon as I can!” Joe waits for a response and when Ivan gives him a nod he takes off in the direction Tank had ran.

“I’m so happy to be able to see your pretty face again! It’s unfortunate that it’s under these circumstances though…” He looks back out at the battle which seems to have taken a pause since his arrival. “Thanks for stalling for me.” Greg finally has something to say. When you look over you can see that there is a Ghastly hovering next to him. Mimi had been a bit distracted by Ivan and Joe’s conversation so she hadn’t had the chance to get into the battle herself yet. “Do you really think that I would tell my Pokemon to just ignore this one if I didn’t have a plan? They are ignoring her because her opponent is someone else, right Ghastly?” The ghost gives Mimi a creepy grin. “You do realize that you’re outnumbered, right? There is no way that you’ll win. There’s two of us here already and Joe will be coming back soon.” Ivan is very frank with Greg about the situation. “Oh, he’s coming back is he? How can you be so sure? Either way, I don’t care because don’t need to win. Ghastly!” He doesn’t call out an attack but the Ghastly knows what to do and gives Mimi a nice and slimy Lick. Mimi is shivering with disgust after such a gross attack that came out of nowhere, it hurt too but the grossness of it seemed to be the worst part. She decides that since she didn’t get the chance to attack earlier, that this new opponent is a better target since she needs to get revenge for that disgusting move. She uses Confusion which hurts him considerably and immediately shoots him with a Thunderbolt after that. (Mimi gains 1 level) The Ghastly is now annoyed with Mimi and sticks out his slimy tongue and begins to chase her around with it.

“He doesn’t need to win…?” Ivan mumbles under his breath as he thinks about what Greg said. “Ahaha!! Trubbish’s!! Sludge! Sludge sludge and more sludge!” Greg looks a bit crazy as he calls out to his Pokemon. “... Alright so this guy is a bit creepy.” Ivan walks a bit in order to position himself between you and Greg so that you wouldn't get stuck directly next to him. “We’ve got this, Alice. Hey Franklin!! Do what you did last time! Cut through that sludge with your Rapid Spin! You can do it! Do whatever you need in order to support Axel okay?”

Isaac bit his lip, he hadn't been this nervous since his first performance. Watching as Vinny, who's ears were now dropping from the sheer exhaustion she was exerting. Her paws padded furiously into the lush grass, causing the Stunky to give her a harsh glare and a hiss. This Eevee had proven to be quite the troublesome foe, persistent and cunning --- causing the skunk to attempt to think three steps ahead of her. Vinny glanced towards her trainer, giving a large smirk as she disappeared underground again. Isaac was ready to watch her barrel her body weight into the Stunky once again, but... for a long while there was no movement. There was no sign of the sleek brown fur that made up his beloved companion, he glanced around somewhat confused. The Stunky appeared to be doing the same thing, turning on it's paws and looking at patches of dirt inquisitively. Isaac's eyes were drawn to something poking out the grass... it was odd, a single piece of grass that was much longer and more curled than the others. However, the Stunky seemed to notice it too --- almost as though it was drawn by a scent of some kind. As soon as it turned, Vinny leap from the earth, sending the Stunky reeling backwards with a loud yelp.

Vinny herself didn't look the way Isaac knew his companion should. Her ears were longer, tinted green at the ends... almost as if they were becoming a piece of fauna. From the center of her forehead, a large leaf had grown... curly and wide. The same odd piece of grass that Isaac had seen earlier, he let out a loud gasp, realizing that his Eevee was finally beginning to transform into the creature she had always wanted to be. She turned with a wide smirk upon her face, her amber eyes turning to a more chocolate brown.

"Finish it, Vin!" Yelled Isaac, causing the Eevee to nod and jump at the Stunky. The Stunky hissed back, leaping at Vinny with outstretched claws. As the two were about to collide, Vinny's body lit up in a specular show of lights. As the light slowly dissipated, Isaac saw a cream coloured Pokemon where Vinny once was, it's pads brown and it's ears and tail appearing as fauna. "Fee!" Screamed the creature, striking the skunk down with a powerful body blow. Upon landing, it was clear that this leaf fox was the victory --- the Stunky's body toppling over in defeat. The creature turned tail, rushing towards Isaac with a big smile upon her face.

Isaac knelt down, patting Vinny on the head. She had done well, and this new form suited her. Her tomboyish, brash nature came through it rather well. She smirked, before letting out a deep sigh --- clearly exhausted from her struggle. Isaac nodded knowingly, preparing to leave before he glanced back at the Stunky. There was something about it that was alluring to him, he fumbled through his bag --- finally letting his hand rest on a Pokeball. He chucked it at the purple creature, who's fainted body was laying a few feet away. He wondered if this would be his first capture, the first step to him becoming an actual trainer.

Anxious with anticipation and overcome with relief, Isaac congratulated his exhausted Leafeon on a hard fought battle and a brand new evolution. As Vinny and he had completed the mission they sought out for in this location and prepared to leave the area, the musician turned Pokemon trainer felt a ping of curiosity. He turned back to face the fallen Stunky and pulled out an empty Pokeball from his bag. It wasn’t the most aromatic Pokemon he had ever come across, but it intrigued him nonetheless. With a quick flick of the wrist he tossed the ball at the unconscious skunk, the contraption popping open upon impact and pulling the creature inside with a red laser.

The Pokeball plopped down on the earth and began to wiggle back and forth. It wiggled once… twice… three times before coming to a complete halt with a corresponding “Ding!” that signified the capture was a success. Congratulations, you have captured a lv.5 male Stunky with the ability Stench!

While she was still physically exhausted, Vinny perked up with joy at the addition of a new comrade. Although they had just been enemies, she was sure their relation could turn the corner quickly. As Isaac picked up the Pokeball that contained his new Pokemon, it was probably best that they get a move on before any more of the environment surrounding the Mossy Rock was disturbed any further. There was still plenty to do in the Cloud Forest; a trial captain to challenge or explore more of the expansive woods. Likewise, if he felt like it, Isaac could leave the forest and explore other parts of the mountain. What would he do?

Isaac stood in disbelief, he could hardly believe that he had managed to capture his first Pokemon. And it was all thanks to Vinny, who had stood by him through all this and had successfully taken down their opponent with ease. Actually, he hadn't truly looked at his new companion ---- just observed her from a distance as the battle between her and the Stunky raged on. Isaac took a few steps forward to pick up the Pokeball, slowly letting himself think on some sort of name for the creature. Countless songs flashed through his head, trying to land on one that would work for the creature. Music was life to him, and the only exceptions to this rule was the naming of Vinny and the naming of Morgana. Vinny was named after his musical idol, and Morgana already had a name when he was received by Isaac. He stood, trying to think of the ideal name... countless songs flashed through his head until he landed on one he thought may work.

"Julius..?" He glanced down at Vinny, she tilted her head at him, curious as to what her trainer was talking about. "What about naming our new friend, Julius? What do you think?" Vinny looked down at her paws, as if she was thinking about the name. She glanced back up at her trainer with an enthusiastic nod, the name sounded fine to her. Isaac smiled, clutching the Pokeball in his dominant left hand. "Welcome to the team, Julius."

With that, Isaac knelt to pet Vinny. "You did so good! I'm sho proud of you!" His lisp slipped out upon saying the word so, but around Vinny, he didn't care that much. He grasped her front paws in his hands while she looked up at him with an enormous smile, she seemed proud of herself. "I think you were right, Leafeon does suit you, Vin" She gave a nod, bowing her head at her master. "Why don't we get to the ranger's station and get you healed up?" Isaac asked, bringing another cigarette to his lips. Vinny rolled her eyes, trotting alongside her master.

((Confirming the addition of Julius the Lv.5 Male Stunky to my team. Declaring his nature to be Naughty. Also, I'm heading to the ranger station to heal up and then seeing where the world may take me. ))

Dudley, as ever, was a bit slow on the uptake, but also as ever, ventually got the picture, and followed Gavin's order. No hesitation once he actually realized what it was he was to do, even if it took an irritated chomp from Kenny to help him get there faster. He let loose a Heal Pulse, soothing the agitated Kricketot, allowing the Shiny hunter and his Maractus to explain the situation. And to Gavin's relief, there was no issue with understanding here. No failure to communicate. He and Miror made their point and made it well, and Kricketot looked pissed at how it had been duped, and Gavin couldn't blame it in the slightest. And then, however, something sounded from the tree.

Gavin turned around. "The fuck is that?" he murmured, reasoning that the source of this laughter must also have thrown Kricketot out of the tree- only to see something else being thrown out of the tree! "Whoa what the-" he exclaimed, scrambling to catch the... Nanab Berry?! "Wh- why the fuck did it throw this at me?" Gavin said, bewildered. "Everyone around here is trying to get ahold of whatever ones they can, and this guy's just... oh, fuck me," he groaned, figuring out the mysterious laughing Pokémon's motive. And indeed, Kricketot Growled at Miror, evidently thinking that all their talk was just a ruse so they could get the Nanab Berries for themselves. Miror rolled his eyes- this was pathetic.

And then, something rammed into Gavin's leg. "Ow! Fuck!" he swore, wheeling around to see a Rattata nearby, one who had noticed the Nanab Berry Gavin was holding. Yep, Gavin realized, this is exactly why that piece of shit threw the Nanab Berry at him- put him right in the middle of all the chaos whether he wanted in or not. Stir things up, prevent them from making the truth known.

"Sloooow?" Dudley murmured, not fully comprehending the situation. Kenny, the Shellder on his tail, merely rolled his eyes, muffling indignantly at whoever was in the tree. Were his words at all legible, this mystery creature would have been subjected to an irate tirade by the spiral Shellder about how downright mean he's being.

And Gavin was just as irate. Kricketot was starting up a Bide, clearly expecting Miror to attack, but the Maractus had no intention of doing so. "Miror, this goes without saying, but no attacking," said Gavin. "Escalating this is just what that laughing fuck wants us to do, and I ain't about to give it the satisfaction. And you," he added to the Rattata. "The things you guys want to buy with this, they're worthless. The old man is trying to screw us over. Even tried his sales pitch on Miror over there. I don't need this Nanab Berry. Shit, the only reason I'm not just letting someone have it is because you guys are just gonna fight over it, and all that'll happen is that one of you gets scammed into buying useless shit. Kinda trying to stop all that here. Dudley!" he added, calling to his Shiny Slowbro. "Let's see who we're dealing with here! Use Headbutt on the tree, and we'll see how much they're laughing when we expose them. Miror, if Rattata makes a move for me, go for Cotton Guard."

"Sloooow..." Dudley responded vacantly (causing Kenny to chomp down on his tail, trying to get him to get there faster).

"Rrrractus!" nodded Miror, before continuing trying to talk sense into Kricketot, and bringing up the excellent point that if they were really after a Nanab Berry, they'd be hauling ass by this point, getting as far away from this whole chaotic mess as possible, instead of trying to talk some sense into them.

Then you listened to Samuel as he continued to speak and explaining about the trial that he offers to trainers that want to challenge him but he also asked about the thing you’re searching for as well so you decided to take the opportunity to ask him for some help with that. “Ah, so you’re after a Pidgey!” He doesn’t even seem to need to really think about this one for long since he had heard about one very recently. “Well, earlier a bird watching couple were passing by my cabin while I was out gathering logs. They are the ones who told me about the fires but they were in a hurry, they told me they were helping out with the fires themselves until they had spotted a Pidgey which apparently reminded them of the day they met. As they were telling me their story, the Pidgey flew right over my cabin which grabbed their attention and off they went. He scratches the back of his head as he thinks about it some more. “You know, if you’re after a Pidgey then I would say your best bet would probably be the Cloud Shrine up on the second level of the Cloud Garden. That place is full of flying types and there is also another trial captain by the name of Jet Avalon who lives there and I’m sure he’d be willing to help you out too.” Samuel is racking his brain for any information that may help in your search and it seems that this is it. “That’s everything I know on Pidgey at the moment. There is a good chance you’ll find one here since there was one flying around earlier or there is an extremely good chance of encountering one at the Cloud Shrine. It’s up to you! There was recently a change to the requirements for getting to the second level too, so now all you would need is to beat one trial on this level to move on to the second. So if you’d like to check out the Cloud Shrine or even somewhere else that the second level has to offer, all you’d have to do is beat my trial if that’s the way you choose to go! Just let me know!” What will you do?

Melissa figured this was probably the couple with the Piplup. Which, good for them, she supposed. She wasn't exactly hoping to run into them again anytime soon, though, so...that was probably another sign. "As they were telling me their story, the Pidgey flew right over my cabin which grabbed their attention and off they went. "Jet Avalon, huh? At the Cloud Shrine..." Melissa made a note to herself to head there once she got to the second level, since it was sounding more and more like that's where she should set her sights.

"There was recently a change to the requirements for getting to the second level too, so now all you would need is to beat one trial on this level to move on to the second. "Oh, it's only one now?" Maybe they weren't getting enough people aiming for the peak, so they dropped the second one? Whatever the reason, it definitely made things easier for her. "Well, I was planning on aiming to get all the way up to the Celestial Road eventually, so if you think it'll be easier to get one at the Cloud Shrine, I guess that's where I'm gonna go." She got to her feet and set Wildfire on her shoulder again. "So, where do you usually hold your trial challenges?"

[/size]
Despite the Sudowoodo's best attempts, Spartacus managed to land the two consecutives hits and complete his training. Jayson hadn't doubted the Scyther for a moment, he knew Spartacus wouldn't let him down. Samuel quickly showed them the fruits of their labour, tossing a log at Spartacus. The Bug type reacted swiftly, cutting the block clean in half with a swing of his scythe. Jayson hoped he would prove just as capable when it came to cutting through the giant log during their trial.

"Ready as I will ever be", Jayson grinned, he was eager to get the trial started. holding up a luxury ball, Jayson recalled Boudicca. The Mudsdale had eaten her fill of grass and wouldn't be participating in the trial. Turning back to Samuel, Jayson introduced the team he would use for the trial."My team will consist of Spartacus, who you are already well acquainted with. He will be joined by Odysseus, my Magnemite and team strategist, as well as Atalanta, my Dartrix, my starter and my master marksman." Jayson wasn't sure what Pokemon Samuel would use for the trial, other than Reaper who he had already met. Their was a chance he would use Petro, but the Sudowoodo didn't seem like the type of Pokemon the woodsman would use for such a task."If you could give us a rundown on the rules than I would be more than happy to get started immediately."Jayson's team gathered around him. Atalanta fluttered down from her perch to land on his left shoulder, while Odysseus hovered over his right, electricity sparking between his magnets. Spartacus stood firm, unwavering, still pumped up from his training and filled with determination.

With newly captured Stunky now named Julius in hand and newly evolved Leafeon named Vinny by his side, Isaac decided that it would be best to heal up his team before setting off on their next adventure. As the skunky stench finally began to dissipate from the area, Isaac took one last look at the mossy landmark before lighting up another cigarette and turned to exit the clearing back through the path in which they arrived. Despite having her fill of unpleasant scents today, Vinny followed closely alongside her partner.

Once they were back at the main path of the Cloud Forest, Isaac spotted a familiar signpost. It has been helpful with directing them towards the Mossy Rock, so maybe it could help them again by showing them where the nearest place to heal his Pokemon. Right on cue, Isaac spotted an arrow that pointed south and read “Ranger’s Cabin: Galea Plains.” That had to be what they were looking for, Isaac deduced. With a new destination set, Isaac and Vinny turned and followed the trail in that direction.

It was a bit of a hike through the forest, but the weather was nice with a crisp autumn breeze while leaves rustled above as a few birds chirped here and there. Eventually the surrounding trees slowly began to thin out as they neared the edge of the forest. Not too far up ahead would be the Galea Plains. Isaac looked down at his Leafeon only to find that she was lagging behind a bit. Vinny was still poisoned and after a hard-fought battle and all of this walking, her stamina was at its limit. She huffed and puffed as she attempted to keep up.

Maybe it was because of this fatigue that she was unable to detect that they had been followed all this time until the snapping of some branches alerted both Vinny and Isaac. Turning around, about twenty feet away stood a large Ursaring. As it stood on its hind legs, a scowl ran across its face while it emitted a low growl. They could make a run for it, but Vinny would have a hard time in her current condition. What will they do?

TheKnightsFury:
As Jayson announced his intentions to challenge the trial and introduced his team, Samuel grinned and let out a hearty laugh. “You’ve really put a lot of thought into this! Very well, let’s head on back to the trial site- where I was chopping that firewood earlier. I’ll give you a rundown along the way.” As Jayson has predicted, Petro didn’t seem to be a part of the trial captain’s strategy, the Sudowoodo remaining behind to stay at the cabin.

The two trainers and their Pokemon headed back down the trail that they had previously carried firewood on Boudicca’s back. Samuel had a very leisurely aura about him, not seeming too flustered about the challenge at all. It wasn’t cockiness or arrogance; rather more like Samuel was more interested in the nature around him as they walked. He was a true woodsman at heart. After a few quiet moments, Samuel finally began speaking.

“Well, my trial is essentially a competition to see who can cut through a log the fastest. The only catch is that it’s a three-vs-three contest where one Pokemon cuts while the other two try to either defend their cutter or attack the opponent’s cutter. You’re allowed to switch roles between cutter and battler, but cutters can’t fight on turns that they are cutting.”

As he finished talking, the group arrived back in the large clearing where they had first met. The massive log of a fallen tree before them made a whole lot more sense now. The log had been sawed down many times before, leaving it perfectly cylindrical on both sides, about 20 feet in length. The log was about a good five feet in diameter. Picking up his axe, Samuel walked over to one end, hacking off a piece of back about a foot in from the end of the log before doing the exact same on the other side. “This is where we’re to cut,” he noted, “First one to cut all the way through wins!”

With Jayson and his Pokemon standing at one end of the log, Samuel headed over to the other end. “You introduced me to your team; now it’s time I returned the favor!” With Reaper standing proudly by Samuel’s side, the lumberjack pulled out two more Pokeballs off his belt and tossed them. In a brief flash of light, a Lurantis and a Kabutops appeared on either side of the Scyther. “These are Odachi the Lurantis and Gladius the Kabutops,” he said while gesturing to the two of them. “Why don’t we get the show on the road? Have one of your Pokemon use two attacks to cut the log at a time while your other two Pokemon either go on the attack or defense while using two attacks each! Reaper, you’re up! Hit that log with a Fury Cutter and then follow it with a Night Slash! Odachi, protect Reaper with your Razor Leaf and then get some Payback on whoever gets near! Gladius, Aqua Jet your way over to their side as quickly as you can and then use that water to kick up a Mud Shot if that Magnemite tries to get in your way!” Samuel’s three Pokemon quickly nodded and got into formation like a well-oiled machine ready to work.

Trial Specifics:
Objective: A 3 vs 3 competition where one Pokemon attempts to saw through a fallen log while the other two may either defend the Cutter or attack the opposing team’s Cutter. First team to successfully cut through the log wins.
Rules: Issue commands to your Cutter to saw through the log. Alternating attacks will hone your technique while repeating attacks will dull your technique. The two battling Pokemon may attack the opposing team’s Cutter, or defend your Cutter from the opposing team’s Battlers. Cutters may not battle while they are cutting. Once per update you are permitted to shift roles between Cutter and Battler at the beginning of your turn.
Competition Field Description: In a small clearing in the forest, a large fallen tree rests on the ground. It has already had the roots and the branches sawed off, forming a perfectly cylindrical log. Cutters must cut on opposing ends of the log, about 20 feet apart. A dense forest of trees surrounds the area.

Jayson followed Samuel back to the spot where they had first met, the large felled tree was to be the center of the contest. The woodsman quickly outlined the trial and showed off the rest of his team, Odachi the Lurantis and Gladius the Kabutops. They made for quite the trio with Reaper, all of them would be capable cutters. The Kabutops was most concerning to Jayson however, the Rock Type would be able to exploit Spartacus's rock weakness, making it a serious threat.

Before he knew it, the trial had started and Jayson found himself pressured to react. Sam's Kabutops was surging on the offensive while his Lurantis was playing more reserved and defensive."Quick Spartacus, set up a Swords Dance to increase your cutting power before taking to the log with a Dual Chop!" The Scyther began to follow orders, now Jayson just had to protect him from the incoming Kabutops. He knew the fossil was the biggest threat to his team, he would need to concentrate on taking it out if he was going to give his team a chance."Odysseus move to intercept the Aqua Jet and retaliate with a Thunder Wave! Then quickly Magnet Rise, we can't let it exploit your weakness. Atalanta catch the Lurantis and Scyther in an Heat Wave before making things worse for the Kabutops with a Giga Drain!" Sam had sent the Kabutops in by itself, essentially allowing it to be surrounded. He had tried to exploit Odysseus's weakness but he had left his own exposed and Jayson was more than capable of capitalizing.

Seeing Franklin so quick and willing to fight at her order delighted and relieved Alice, who felt that she at least had one less random factor to worry about. His rapid spin predictably made a mess, but he and Axel seemed to already be in sync. The sizzling acid made it fear for the moment that, inevitably, some of it would get at her skin and clothes, but at least her glasses might give very, very minor to protection to her eyes. Gosh, no wonder the Skiddo had been so afraid.

A familiar voice was another surprise, one that was welcome, too. Alice shot Ivan a look that was critical but hardly brutal given the slight smirk on her lips. She really wanted to despise the way the ranger addressed her, but in truth she kind of liked it, and her Pokemon probably knew it, too. The males' bickering had been a slight distraction, but not completely, and honestly Alice was more alarmed by Joe leaving-- especially with the mention of the 'crazy rich lady'. That bitch couldn't be allowed to find Furfrou, but Alice hoped that between this chaos and her cluelessness, it'd be an impossible feat to get beaten in this now-race.

"Oh, shit--- get it together, Mimi, you've got this!" Her baby was the panicky type, so it wasn't a surprise that she was on the defensive, "Use your confusion to force that tongue back in its mouth, do some damage and give it another thunderbolt! Try using attract to charm it, too!" Alice added, stood very slightly behind the protective Ivan. "We have to do this fast. He's stalling us, but we can't leave him like this, either."

Focusing on the older psychic, Alice continued, her voice now internal, "Axel, knock those Trubbish into each other with your iron tail and zen headbutt, then follow up with some rapid firing thunder punches! They should be wet from Franklin's water attacks, so it might be more effective!" That was the hope, at least, and as if out of nowhere the Abra lunged into action, his brown tail beginning to coat in solid steel.

Raves- You braced yourself against the large root as your Pokemon surged into battle. There was a lot going on, your hard-shelled partners crying out while being battered with Paras’ claws. You focused yourself on Pridwen first, seeing the imminent danger he was in. You advised him to get away from the Paras climbing his way, and he dutifully shot out a bright reflective Mirror Shot. The attack assaulted the nocturnal Paras’ eyes and it tumbled from the ceiling. Your Ferroseed strengthened his defenses before releasing his grip and preparing to drop down on Parasect with a sharp claw. The tiny orbs of light suddenly removed themselves from around Parasect and flew up towards Pridwen, surrounding the Grass and Steel-type. Pridwen was slowly lowered to the ground by the orbs, but prevented from getting any closer to Parasect.

“Dra!!” Herex cried out as she swept her tail in a wide circle, knocking several of the Paras off of her body. They were toppled onto their backs and wiggled their claws in the air helplessly. A dark orb of light formed between her sharp pincers, and she shot it toward Parasect. Anticipating the attack, the orbs of light flew from Pridwen to the Dark Pulse. Upon impact, the orbs broke up again, now looking like tiny sparkles without any discernable shape. After her first attack, Herex rushed forward with Poison seeping from her Fangs, only to be met with a wall of sparkly light that slowly pushed her back. Your Drapion looked confused as the light surrounded her, then floated back to Parasect.

Meanwhile, Glasspine went through with crowd control of the Paras. A cast of Paras was tossed into the air with Aerial Ace, and easily rounded up with Rock Slide and Sand Tomb. Glasspine had trapped them in a thick patch of soil that had become the consistency of quicksand, with rocks surrounding it preventing the Paras from escaping. With the enemies clear, you slowly made your way to Parasect. The orbs of light seemed to notice your presence as you approached. You reached out a careful hand and the light surrounded it, dancing up your arm. You felt a slight pressure against your skin, but definitely not enough to move you as it had with Herex. In fact, the light did not seem hostile toward you at all, and instead hovered just at your arm, waiting for what you might do next.

Maskerade- Your cheers of celebration echoed throughout the cave and into the hole you had just discovered. Staryu and Munchlax answered with their own happy responses. You gleefully return the fist-bump to Munchlax, who grins widely at your laughter. You peer into the hole, and despite being unable to see anything, make the decision to continue forward. Staryu took the initiative to lead the way, illuminating the gem at the center of its body. Munchlax followed next, and you had to duck to fit in the hole’s entrance. You were careful to avoid slipping on the still wet floor, and followed the path of the hole as it continued downward.

Staryu’s light provided enough vision for you to see that this section of the cave seemed different than the one you were in previously. The walls were smooth, as if they had been carved by some mysterious force other than nature. You began to notice markings on the wall, possibly letters in a language you didn’t know. The letters soon became more detailed pictures of an ancient town and figures of humans and Pokemon. You walked slowly as you observed each drawing, Staryu and Munchlax looked interested as well. There was a particular drawing that caught your eye: it was the same town as earlier but this time it was surrounded by rough, dark scribbles. Red paint was used to create thousands of tiny eyes in the darkness, and it looked to be slowly swallowing up the town. Staryu kept the light on the picture, but you heard the padding of Munchlax’s feet as it wandered ahead. It must have noticed something you had not taken much notice of while you were observing the cave paintings, a distant and steady scraping noise.

What on earth is going on here?...

The situation had taken yet another unexpected turn, though this time around, it was a much darker twist. Runaway Bunnelby, riddles on papers and torches on walls now felt a very distant past, as Rorik and his two friends proceeded down the path that had revealed itself. It was dark, humid and completely silent, and if not for Staryu's light, the Professor never would've noticed the ominous drawings on the smooth stone walls. But he did.

"Depictions of catastrophe... a town, surrounded by runes, and about to be engulfed by a red-eyed wave of darkness," he summarized as he scanned the rock surface, aided by Staryu's glowing gem. "Is this a story of the past, or a sight of the future?"

He was a man of science; his job did not allow him to be superstitious, religious or spiritual - for the past 28 years, Rorik had developed a reputation as a reliable researcher, who settled for nothing less than scientific evidence to support his beliefs. And yet, the longer he spent in Fizzytopia, the more he became convinced that some things jus couldn't be explained by logic and that sometimes, just maybe... other forces were at work that he could not grasp.

Fortunetelling, premonitions, I never believed in any of that. So why does this painting fill me with such dread?...

So focused was he on the strange work of art, that he almost let Munchlax wander out of sight. When he looked over, the bear was already several steps ahead of them, concentrated on something that Rorik had neglected to notice up until that point: the tunnel was no longer silent. Something was up ahead!

"Munchlax!" he called out, as he and Staryu picked up the pace to catch up to the bear. "Wait for us, we don't know what's up ahead."

We can't be too careful. The further in we go, the more prepared we have to be.

"Listen you two," he whispered while dropping to one knee, making sure only his friends could hear him. "Staryu, be ready to erect a Barrier around us if something attacks. Munchlax, I need you to forget about any distracting thoughts with Amnesia to keep your guard up. Okay then, let's get going... slowly now."

His heart was racing. The louder the scraping sounds got, the more nervous he felt, as if he was walking straight into a Gyarados's open maw... But all the trouble they'd gone through, all the riddles, the running around! He absolutely could not allow fear to overwhelm him now - not when he was so close to the end of this intense investigation!

Median Dia – As soon as your eyes adjusted you knew you had to jump back into action. You quickly directed Miapladicus to join up with Louise. The Staryu jumped in the air and Spun Rapidly across the playing field. Godzilla watched with an open mouth as it soared above him. Louise nodded in understanding as her partner landed steadily next to her. Miapladicus gathered up its energy and launched a torrent of water straight at Carbink, who was sent twirling away from the flag. It landed upside down next to Madoka, who fretted over it as she realized it had been knocked unconscious.

Berue watched as Lunatone floated above. It was looking back and forth, trying to find where it was most needed. At your command, she released a thick red powder that spread through the air. Particles of it landed on Lunatone’s rocky surface and its mood changed almost immediately. It let out a cry and surrounded itself with Cosmic Power. Using its psychic powers, it lifted several rocks from the ground and threw them at Berue with Psyshock. Berue struck them away with Vine Whip, which blew the Rage Powder even further. It hit Madoka’s Larvitar square in the face, which caused him to explode into a loud tantrum. He began to run from his place behind the Stone Lantern to Berue and the flag, baring its sharp mouth to Bite.

Louise spent her time focused on the Midnight Lycanroc. She easily lifted several rocks from the ground and tossed them toward Lulu. Her opponent easily dodged two of the rocks, but missed the third that hit her hard in the stomach. Lulu let out a yelp. Though it wasn’t very effective, the attack had knocked the wind out of her. Louise had a solution to that, and blasted her with a sparkling Fairy Wind. As Lulu gasped, she breathed some of the attack in, which caused her to cough violently. The Lycanroc was down for now, and Berue was kept busy with both Lunatone and Larvitar. What will be your final move?

Sensing her opponents’ desperation, Jess looked to wrap things up quickly as the hits continued to pile onto Comfey. Iris on the other hand was still sitting pretty in terms of health, but with the amount of energy she was spending, Jess didn’t want to take her chances in a war of attrition. With her pedal to the metal, she looked to end things with Steenee and Cherrim as quickly as possible and get on with their search for the missing Flabébé. She quickly called out her strategy to Iris, who turned and nodded in acknowledgement.

As she stared down the enraged flowers, Iris put everything she had into jumping and flipping herself in the air, the leafy bonnet on her head slicing through the air to whip up a Razor Wind. Normally by spreading the range of the targets included in a widespread attack some power is sacrificed, but Comfey was right behind Iris’ back, offering a Helping Hand to support the Sewaddle with some extra energy. The air whipped into small scythe-like cyclones that blew forward and slammed into both Steenee and Cherrim for considerable damage. After taking their lumps, the two opponents yelled out in unison and dashed forward in retaliation, Steenee Double-Slapping Iris four times while Cherrim hitting Comfey with a continuation of its Petal Dance.

Taking hits from their buffed-up opponents was no walk in the park either, as Iris and Comfey winced in pain. Iris was first to shake it off, repeating her previous flipping motion to slice through the Air once again and Slash Cherrim for considerable damage. As Cherrim looked like it was about to pass out, Comfey finished things off with a strong Vine Whip from her flowery tail. Cherrim slumped over, unconscious.

With only one opponent remaining, Iris stared down the angry Steenee. Its confusion seemed to have fully subsided at this point, but her enraged attack buff remained. Iris looked up at the sun above, the intense sunlight still beaming down overhead. The caterpillar grinned and began glowing, taking in solar energy at a rapid rate before yelling out as she blasted a powerful Solar Beam at Steenee, sending it flying into a tree behind it. Steenee slumped over, lying face down in the grass. Congratulations, Iris has grown 5 levels!

With the battle finally over, Comfey let out a deep sigh of relief. However, her respite did not last long, as thoughts of her missing comrade popped back into her head. She floated over to confront the unconscious Steenee, rolling it over so it was now face-up and proceeded to slap it over and over with her tail until it roused from its slumber. It woozily looked up at its defeaters with a scowl on its face. Comfey held up the petal from Flabébé’s flower and demanded to know where her friend had gone off to. Steenee simply smirked and laughed, before pointing to a direction further down the path and passing back out.

As there was no time to lose, Jess, Iris, Lance, and Comfey hurried off down the path through the orchard of fruit trees. It wasn’t long that after walking Jess began to notice a few ominous mushrooms growing on some of the tree trunks. That was the telltale sign of an unhealthy plant. Did they dare proceed forward or look to find another way around the orchard?
It was down to the wire, and Jess was determined not to waste any more time when they could be searching for Flabébé's location. Also eager to end this as swift as possible, Iris went about setting their plan in motion by leaping up and whirling her leafy bonnet to whip up a storm of sharps and scythes, wind whistling shrill like a discordant symphony. The dissonant notes struck their opponents harshly, guided on their way with the help of the conductor waving her baton behind Iris.

Rather than receive applause however, the audience responded with a round of smacks and a dangerous dance number of their own. Iris and Comfey winced from the retaliation, however the former quickly recovered and slashed back at Cherrim, as her partner provided the final blow by finishing up with a whack of her flowery wand - landing a critical hit as the critic finally fainted.

That left but one naysayer standing - albeit a bit wobbily from her previous daze. The wooziness was finally showing signs of subsiding though as she snapped out her confusion, cracking her knuckles as her boosted strength clearly remained. Before she could get a chance to deliver a beatdown though, Iris raised her head to the warm sunbeams burning brightly above and beamed in turn, gathering gold into her own body before blasting the final target, sending Steenee straight into a tree trunk as she slumped over, defeated.

The battle finally finished, Comfey breathed a sigh of relief before hovering resolutely over to revive the wilted plant with a series of rousing slaps. Steenee eventually awoke with a groggy grimace, glowering at her interrogator as Comfey held up the petal and demanded to know where its owner was. Steenee simply sneered and pointed further down the path, before slipping back into unconsciousness.

While time was of the essence, Jess didn't feel right just leaving the two in such a sorry state. She hadn't wished to fight them in the first place after all. So she fished in her bag for a couple Potions, spritzing each of their wounds with care. She also pulled out a pair of Oran Berries for good measure, leaving them by the bank for when they woke.

With that settled, the group hurried along in the designated direction, keeping a weather eye out for any signs of Flabébé. The environment seemed to reflect their woes as worrisome mushrooms began to emerge as they walked, sprouting from the sides of trees with sickly-looking limbs dangling like spiderwebs. Jess shuddered at the spooky imagery, feeling the fall's season fast approaching and with it a harbinger of bad omens. Still, she knew they needed to press onward if they had any hope of finding Flabébé.

"Iri, keep an eye out for any signs of danger. Maybe put on a MAGIC COAT for good measure; those mushrooms may be poisonous and we don't know what lies ahead."

What a beautiful display, let’s give another hand for our wonderful contestants!” The audience cheered once more as the contestants took a bow. The four flower queens joined Petunia on the stage. It had been a long day of eventful challenges, but they remained as composed as ever, not wanting to drop their majestic facades.

“Well, that concludes our event,” Petunia continued, smiling. “You all have been a fantastic group, so I thank all of you for making this event so enjoyable and successful! From the water balloon fight to the scavenger hunt to the beauty pageant, all of your individual and team points have been tallied, so it’s finally time to announce the winner! Now, if my colleagues could please present us with the final scores, we can announce our winners!”

Peony joined Petunia on stage and pulled an envelope out of her purse and presented it to Petunia. Meanwhile, Poppy and Persimmon rolled out the scoreboard signpost, but it had been covered up to draw out the suspense. Petunia opened up the envelope and pulled out the results of the final scores. A smile crept onto her face. Clearing her throat, she addressed the crowd once more.

~~~~~~~
“Alright, here we go! In fourth place comes Team Bellossom with 11 total points! Let’s give them a round of applause!” The audience cheered as Poppy removed part of the cover that was blocking the scoreboard, showing Bellossom’s name with 4 Team Points and 7 Individual Points. The disappointment on Bellossom’s face was apparent, but she continued to smile innocently through it all and blew a kiss to her team, thanking them for all their effort.
“Next up, we have a tie! With 14 total points, we have Teams Roserade and Tsareena! Let’s give them a hand!” The audience cheered once more as Persimmon and Poppy revealed more of the scoreboard. Roserade finished with 8 Team Points and 6 Individual Points while Tsareena finished with 9 Team Points and 5 Individual Points. Tsareena and Roserade shot each other annoyed glances before turning to wave proudly at their respective teams.
Petunia broke into a grin as Lilligant smugly put her hands on her hips, beaming. “And finally, we have our winning team by a landslide, Team Lilligant with 22 total points! Great job guys! Let’s give them a round of applause!” The audience erupted its loudest as Persimmon revealed the final score on the scoreboard. Team Lilligant finished with 10 Team Points and a perfect 12 Individual Points. Lilligant continued to beam proudly, waving to her team in gratitude.
~~~~~~~

Poppy and Persimmon rejoined Petunia and Peony on stage. “Now, as we proceed to hand out prizes for the event, our wonderful hostess and sponsor of the Rose Garden will present Lilligant with the crown of victory!” As the garden volunteers brought out a number of items, Primrose Nightingale approached Lilligant with a tiara in her hands. It was a beautiful silver crown with some diamonds and rose-shaped rubies set on it. Lilligant elegantly lowered her head as Primrose placed it before the petals of her flowery crown. “Congratulations,” Primrose said with a warm smile. Lilligant smiled back and lifted her leafy skirt to curtsy. Bellossom, Roserade, and Tsareena rolled their eyes as Lilligant basked in her victory before the three flower queens exited the stage and went to thank their individual teams personally.

By now the volunteers had set up a small table and laid out an assortment of items. “First up is the prize to our winning team; Team Lilligant! Congratulations!” Petunia cheered as Rorik, Alex, and Lucas came on the stage to claim their prizes. “Next up is a prize to the contestants with the top three Individual Points! Congratulations Alex, who finished with 18 Individual Points, Rorik who finished with 14 Individual Points, and Drew who finished with 13 Individual Points!” As the three trainers came up to get their prizes, the scoreboard showed the rest of everyone’s points. With 12 points was Alice, with 11 points was Melissa, Chroma, and Hiero, with 10 points was Jess and Lucas, with 9 points was Seiko, and lastly was Sypher with 3 and Elka with 0.

“The next prize is the participation prize, because without your active involvement throughout the entire event from start to finish, the event wouldn’t have been as successful as it was! Come on up, Drew, Jess, Melissa, Lucas, Rorik, Alex, Chroma, and Alice!” The audience cheered as everyone came up to claim their prizes. “And last but not least, the final prize is the consolation prize; for everyone to enjoy! Thank you all for participating!”

Participation Prize: Grassium-Z, Leaf Stone, TM Sunny Day, TM Energy Ball
Drew, Jess, Melissa, Lucas, Rorik, Alex, Chroma, & Alice
Consolation Prize: 5 Rare Candies & Miracle Seed
Everyone
Petunia grinned and watched as everyone claimed their prizes. “Once again I’d like to thank everyone for your participation and support to make this event a smash success! One last announcement that we would like to share from the Rose Garden is that effective immediately, our very own Primrose is now the newest Trial Captain of the Cloud Garden! She may be young, but don’t underestimate her!” Primrose smiled bashfully and bowed before the crowd. She wasn’t used to all of the attention, but she tried her best to confidently face the crowd.

“So with that, I offer congratulations to her and gratitude to you all for coming out today! We hope to see you visit the Rose Garden again soon!” The audience cheered one final time before they began to disperse. As people made their way out of the Rose Garden, a chilling breeze blew across the mountainside. Higher up the mountain, a few snowflakes could be spotted before they melted in the atmosphere.

Finally, this is OOC, but I would like to express my thanks to everyone for participating. The event went better than I could have ever imagined, and that was in large because of the efforts of Morningstar and Patches. As thanks I would like to give the two of you the Participation Prize as well; Grassium-Z, Leaf Stone, TM Sunny Day, and TM Energy Ball. You two are the best ZUs in FB!
Jess had been a bit disappointed that Iris had received a slightly lower score than anticipated, feeling bummed on her Budew's behalf that his creativity had been passed over in favor of cuteness specifically, costing them precious points in the competition. However she didn't regret the decision to display her heroism to the fullest, and swelled with pride as the Sewaddle stepped off the stage, congratulating with a warm hug.

It seemed there was one more phase to the contest, which involved dressing up the stars of the show themselves. Now that she had a better idea of what the judges were looking for, Jess thought they might stand a better chance of success - although she was even more nervous about approaching a queen and instructing her on what to wear. Before she could even begin to attempt making Bellossom the belle of the ball though, her PokéGear buzzed abruptly, alerting her to an incoming email. Her eyes narrowed when she read the message, biting her lip as she glanced apologetically towards all her teammates.

"Sorry guys, I have to take this."

She brushed by without another word, leaving her comrades confused but willing to wait for their own trainer to return.

...

...By the time she arrived back though, the event was already well over, and while one of her other team members had managed to take charge at the last minute and provide some sort of passable performance, they had still lost by a landslide. (Strange though, she could've sworn she heard her own name being called?) Again, she apologized profusely for leaving them hanging - especially her Pokémon, who shook their heads and crowded concernedly around her, more worried about her wellbeing right now. She smiled weakly at their support.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. C'mon, let's watch the closing ceremonies."

They took a seat as Primrose proudly crowned the new Queen Tsareena with a bejeweled tiara of sparkling silver, encrusted with dazzling diamonds and ruby roses, who curtsied elegantly in gracious acceptance. Jessica clapped politely, though remained pensive as her group was summoned onstage to receive their own participation prizes. As the festivities died down and the first snow began to gradually fall, Jess sighed in conclusion before beaming at her companions.

"Thanks for everything, guys. You all did great. Now, let's go home."

OoC - Picking up:

1x Grassium-Z
1x Leaf Stone
1x TM SUNNY DAY
1x TM ENERGY BALL
5x Rare Candies
1x Miracle Seed

Thanks for the event, guys. Sorry for dropping out at the last minute. Good work to everyone!

Missingno. Master – It was all going so well. The Kricketot was understanding what you were trying to tell it and your plan to just go in and tell the truth certainly seemed to be the right choice. Of course, things were going too smoothly and you were apparently being watched. Before you knew it you were being set up and a very big misunderstanding with the Pokemon around you began. Although the Kricketot is waiting for Miror to attack, that attack doesn't happen and it begins to get even more frustrated as it stands there waiting for moves that never come. You begin to explain the situation once again, this time to both the Kricketot and the Rattata. Once again, the Kricketot is showing that they believe your story and the Rattata stands down for the time being but seems to be flip flopping back and forth over whether to believe you or not because it’s still eyeing up that berry.

Dudley had a slow start when it came to making his way over to the tree but Kenny got him moving faster with a nice hard chomp on the tail. Fortunately, whatever Pokemon was in the tree was laughing so hard that it didn’t hear your plan to Headbutt it out. Despite the slight delay, Dudley Headbutts the tree which allows you to get a glimpse at what you’re dealing with. An Aipom somewhat falls from the tree! Only somewhat because it manages to catch itself when it’s tail grabs onto a branch. However, it may not have heard you tell Dudley to Headbutt it out of the tree but it most definitely heard your second attempt at explaining yourself. “Aipom! Pom pom!” While hanging upside down and with a huge grin plastered on its face it begins to tell you, so that everyone can hear, that you just need to buy it only a little more time so that it can get the rest of the Nanab Berries you need. And with that, it simply pulls itself back up and into the tree while making sure to stay out of all of the other Pokemon’s reach.

The Kricketot before you is basically seeing red now. It is absolutely furious that it fell for your trickery twice. As far as the Kricketot and Rattata are concerned, that Aipom is yours and you sent it here to take all of the Nanab Berries this place has left for yourselves. In fact, they were starting to believe this place didn’t have any berries left but the one in your hands proves that that is not the case. The Kricketot is extra angry now, not only was it tricked twice, you are also the owner of the very Pokemon that violently threw it out of the tree. Its emotions build and build until suddenly it begins to glow bright and transform right before your eyes. Once the light goes away, it shows that the Pokemon has evolved into Kricketune! The Rattata is also annoyed with this situation but is trying to figure out what it wants to do, normally it would get help from friends but that would mean sharing the Nanab Berry when they get their hands on it and it certainly doesn’t want that.

While the Rattata collects it’s thoughts, the Kricketune is done standing around. It kicks off the ground and goes straight for Miror who, although it’s not the Rattata doing the attacking, decides this is probably a good time to use Cotton Guard anyway. The Kricketune connects with Fury Cutter and slashes at Miror 3 times before bouncing back and Growling to show that now it’s serious. Miror was able to defend against the attack a bit but it’s clear that Kricketune is going to most likely be coming back in for more any second. The Rattata hasn’t made a move yet but looks thoughtful. Meanwhile, you continue to hear suppressed laughter in the tree.

myahoo – You listen as Samuel does his best to help you out with your Pidgey search. Once you hear about the Cloud Shrine, that is where you decide you should set your sights as your next destination. After your mind is made up, you know that you will need to beat a trial in order to get to it so you let Samuel know your plans. “I see! That is a great choice!” Samuel has a big toothy grin on his face, it’s clear that he is genuinely happy to have someone challenge him. “Well, we’re going to need to go back outside for this one. We’re going to be doing this trial out back, I’ll lead the way!” He opens the front door then steps outside and holds the door for you. Once you’re outside he shuts it tight and begins to lead you around his cabin to the back. As you both make your way around, he begins to explain what you’ll be doing.

“So for my trial we will be having a log cutting competition. I have the perfect log out back for such an occasion too!” he chuckles as he thinks about it. “This is going to be a 3 vs 3 competition, we will each have 3 Pokemon who are to work together to get the job done. Each round, there will be one Pokemon doing the cutting and the other two Pokemon will either defend their cutter or attack the opposing team’s cutter. There can only be one Pokemon cutting at a time but you may switch out which Pokemon is doing the cutting at the beginning of each round.” As he finishes explaining the basics you finally reach the place where all of this will be going down. There is a very thick and long log laying across the ground. It is perfectly symmetrical from end to end, it’s clear that Samuel chopped off any roots and branches that made it uneven. Once you arrive, Samuel reaches for 3 pokeballs on his belt and releases each of the Pokemon that were resting inside.

“Now it’s time to introduce your competition! This here is Odachi the Lurantis.” The Lurantis looks at you and blinks a few times. “And here we have Gladius the Kabutops.” Gladius nods his head toward you in acknowledgement. “And that one over there is Reaper the Scyther!” Reaper had already separated from the others and ran all the way to the far end of the log where Samuel’s team will be fighting. “He really loves these trials.” Samuel chuckles at his Scyther’s eagerness. “Well, you and your Pokemon can have this end of the log since it seems that Reaper has already chosen which end my team is going to be on. Whenever you’re ready, go ahead and send out whichever Pokemon will be taking part in this trial and we can start! Also, you may issue 2 commands to each of your Pokemon per round as well.”

Samuel walks over to his Scyther and his other two Pokemon follow. “Alright everyone, you’re all going to wait until your opponent is ready but once they are, Odachi you’re going to go ahead and start as the cutter in the first round. You’re going to use your Fury Cutter on that log and follow that up with X-Scissor.” The Lurantis takes its place facing the log. He then turns toward his Scyther. “Reaper, you’re going to try and attack their cutter. You’ll get in there with a Quick Attack and then Slash them for a critical hit!” Reaper nods and gets into position. Lastly, he tells his Kabutop’s what his strategy will be. “Gladius, I’m going to have you stand back and defend Odachi. We don’t know what the opponent might try so do your best to block them and use your Harden to absorb any hits and then use Mega Drain to regain any health you’ve lost!” Gladuis nods and also gets into position. Now all of the Pokemon watch carefully as you decide your own strategy.

Meetan – Once again you are finding yourself in a situation that seems to be slowly getting more and more complicated by the second. The good news is that this time you’re not alone. Ivan is doing his best to act cheerful in front of you but it’s clear that this whole thing has him a little bit on edge also. Greg is yelling about sludge like a maniac and Joe ran away in order to go find his Mudbray. It’s also clear that Greg is working to stall you guys but either way you can’t really just walk away to find out what he’s stalling for either so you’re stuck playing his little game.

First, you quickly give Mimi a strategy to deal with the disgusting tongue of that Gastly. After hearing the plan she takes a deep breath in order to help herself become brave and she stops running. Immediately turning around toward the incoming tongue and when it was only mere millimeters away from making contact she uses her Confusion just as she was told and forces the tongue back inside of the Gastly’s mouth. The Pokemon gives Mimi an annoyed look and knows that something else is coming so it decides to Protect itself. Mimi’s Thunderbolt doesn’t even touch the Gastly, it’s almost as if it went right through him. Satisfied, the Gastly sticks its tongue back out and this time it goes toward Mimi even faster than before and in a panic she uses Attract as it comes at her. Hearts swirl around the ghost and his tongue only makes contact with Mimi for a split second before he pulls away because of sudden guilt, fortunately, the Lick attack didn’t hurt too bad because she Filtered the effects. The Gastly seems to be dealing with an internal struggle now and also seems to be having a hard time making eye contact with Mimi, each time he does his cheeks blush a bit. (Mimi gains 1 level) Who knew ghosts could blush?

Greg seems to pay no mind to Gastly’s current predicament at the moment because he is more focused on the Sludge his other Pokemon are making. You briefly tell Ivan what you’ve figured out and that you both need to hurry this up. “I couldn’t agree with you more.” He smiles at you and then both of you issue orders to each of your Pokemon. Franklin is continuing to Spin Rapidly in order to cut through any Sludge that may get in Axel’s way. This is perfect because Franklin is creating enough of an opening for Axel to get up close and personal with those Trubbish. Axel quickly gets in there and turns his tail into iron and smashes into one of the Trubbish with his Iron Tail. The attack was perfectly aimed too and the Trubbish flies into the other Trubbish and they both tumble away. Now that the Trubbish have been thrown, Franklin stops spinning since it’s no longer necessary. Axel then uses Zen Headbutt on one of the Trubbish and attempts to throw it into the other again but the other has grown used to that strategy and dodges. Without skipping a beat, Axel goes right up to the Trubbish he just attacked and repeatedly Thunder Punches it while it’s down. “Franklin, help Axel out and use Aqua Tail!” Ivan has been watching as the other Trubbish was getting ready to knock Axel away from its friend. Franklin knows exactly what to do and uses Aqua Tail on the loose Trubbish and smacks it right into Axel’s aim. The Thunder Punches continue onto the second Trubbish too and before you know it, both Trubbish have been KOed. (Axel gains 4 levels) Before any of you can react to the victory though, something happens that completely grabs everyones attention.

BOOM!!! The sound of a loud explosion roars through the air and the ground shakes as if an earthquake is passing through. You struggle to keep your balance but you manage. Once the shaking stops you can see that Ivan’s hands are at his sides shaking in tight fists, his knuckles white. “Th-That explosion… It sounded like it came from the direction that Joe ran to get Tank…” Ivan’s voice cracks as he admits to himself that something really bad may have just happened to his partner. Suddenly, Franklin who is so worried he can’t even stand it, takes off running in the direction of the explosion. “Franklin don’t!!!! Stop, it’s dangerous!!!” Ivan instinctively begins to run after his friend while pulling out a pokeball and attempting to return him in order to stop him but the beam of light from the ball never reaches the turtle Pokemon as he disappears over a hill. Ivan stops running because he knows that right now you two can’t get separated for both of your safety.

Greg is laughing hysterically, to him this whole thing is just a game. “Don’t forget about me! You may have taken down my Trubbish but that’s not all I’ve got! Gastly–” He cuts himself off when he finally notices his ghost type. The ghastly is completely red cheeked and drooling as he stares at Mimi with hearts in his eyes. “… Oh jeez.” Greg sighs and returns his two Trubbish as he thinks, it’s clear he has figured out what’s up with his Gastly just by looking at him. “Gastly, use your Hypnosis on that Mime Jr. I know you have feelings for her but think about it, she seems to be easily scared and if she’s asleep she won’t have to be scared anymore!” He decides to word his strategy in such a way that it will hopefully convince the Gastly to not hold back and it looks like it’s working since the Gastly is clearly pondering something. At this point Ivan has returned to your side and is staring down Greg so hard that if looks could kill he’d certainly be dead. Ivan also has one of his hands hovering over one of the pokeballs on his belt but he’s waiting. Looks like Ivan is waiting for you to decide what you’re going to do next so that he can back you up. It's clear that he would rather be running after his friend and Pokemon right now but he is also refusing to leave you alone with Greg.

Miror was able to defend against the attack a bit but it’s clear that Kricketune is going to most likely be coming back in for more any second. The Rattata hasn’t made a move yet but looks thoughtful. Meanwhile, you continue to hear suppressed laughter in the tree.
At first, telling things as they were seemed to be working. But of freaking course that wasn't meant to last. Why would things ever be that easy? Dudley's Headbutt succeeded in dislodging the culprit- a purple primate with a hand-like tail and a highly mischievous grin. Gavin took out his P*DA and activated the Strategy Memo.

"Aipom, the Long Tail Pokémon. Type: Normal. The tail functions as a powerful hand. Uses its tail so much that its real hands become clumsy," droned the device.

Gavin glared suspiciously at the Aipom as it started speaking, loud enough for all around to hear, and sure enough, its words seemed to throw Kricketot right back into a fit of rage. "Do I even wanna know?" Gavin asked Miror.

"Marac," Miror shook his head, glaring at the Aipom who was trying to get the Maractus's Trainer in even more trouble. Dudley, of course, was being slow on the uptake, as usual, but Kenny was muffling furiously, actually wobbling in place on the Shiny Slowbro's tail as his words came across to the Aipom clear as mud.

"Yeah, didn't think so- oh, fucking shit," groaned Gavin, for Kricketot had now started to glow. Rare was the occasion he'd seen a Pokémon evolve before, and this marked the first time he'd seen it since coming to Fizzytopia, but make no mistake, he knew it when he saw it, and right now, he friggin' saw it.

"Kricketune, the Cricket Pokémon. The evolved form of Kricketot. Type: Bug," droned Gavin's P*DA. "Uses its arms to help generate melodies from its cries. Can convey emotions with its melodies."

But no melody was needed to convey to Gavin that right now, Kricketune was fucking pissed. Whatever lies Aipom was feeding this Kricketune, it was swallowing them whole. If Gavin had to guess, he'd suppose Aipom was lying about being in cahoots with the Shiny hunter in order to discredit his attempts to explain the truth.

"Rrrractus!" Miror exclaimed, which grabbed Gavin's attention- Kricketune had started to attack! Now that it wasn't a Kricketot, it had more to work with than just Bide, which was swiftly proven as Miror's well-placed Cotton Guard helped it defend against a super effective Fury Cutter! At least Rattata wasn't joining in on the fight just yet, but now Gavin was more pissed thna ever at the suppressed laughter coming from the tree.

"Motherfu... Alright, you, wrap your head around this, OK?" Gavin said to Kricketune. "I got nothing to do with that Aipom. It's trying to get me in trouble, and judging by your reaction, it's succeeding. You're pissed, right? You want to get back at whoever's tricking you? Then attack the Aipom. I ain't even gonna stop you- in fact, I'll help you!" he declared. "Dudley, Telekinesis!" he ordered. "Get Aipom out of the tree once and for all, and down low enough to give everyone here a clean shot at it, yeah? And once everyone else has had their turn, feel free to throw in a Zap Cannon."

"Sloooow," Dudley nodded. Slowly, of course. Kenny gave a muffled sigh and a roll of his eyes, though knew Dudley could in fact be trusted to do this.

Miror, meanwhile, addressed Kricketune once more. Not to explain the truth for the third time, though, at least not at first- this time, merely to state that he had no intention of fighting Kricketune, and if Kricketune came in for another attack, this time the Maractus intended to block it with Spiky Shield, and that that was every bit as painful as it sounded. He then, however, told Kricketune that Gavin was telling the truth- that Aipom did not belong to him, and it wasn't on their side at all, and that if Kricketune wanted to go after the one responsible for screwing with it, then it should be focusing on that Aipom.

The warning call from Alex was dutifully heeded by Pridwen as the steel type let loose a dazzling burst of light into the sensitive eyes of the Paras, the bug tumbling off the roof while the Ferroseed reinforced himself and dislodged. While he didn't have claws per se, he did possess spikes which took on a silver hue as he whirled round to strike with a swing, only to find the lights to remove themselves from the Parasect and to converge around him, lowering him to the ground as the human hoisted over the root and made a controlled slide down the other side. Herex was equally successful in removing her insectoid troubles, using her natural strength to shake the bugs off before firing a pulsating wave of darkness towards Parasect...only for the light blocking Pridwen to leave him and burst against the pulse, exploding into specks and blocking the projectile.

The light somehow has some solid constituency to it...interesting. With the failed Dark Pulse, the Drapion instead chose to rush forward, fangs tainted with her natural poison, and once again found the attack blocked, this time by a wall of light pushing her back to her confusion. Glasspine by contrast was much more successful with his strategy, throwing the Paras off him with a whirl before invoking his natural ground typing to ensnare the Paras within a soil trap, a shallow quicksand of sorts with rocks around them blocking any escape. With feet on ground, the trainer looked over at the Paras, and found the path was clear.

"Good work, team. Nothing's too badly injured. You holding up well enough there you two?" he motioned to the mouse and scorpion, who both gave nods as Alex faced the large bug pokemon, the light appearing to notice him as he approached slowly. As he reached a careful arm forward, the light surrounded it, a light feeling of pressure like a held hand, but strangely there was no resistance in the same vein as Herex and Pridwen, and indeed it seemed to be waiting for his own action. Alex wished no direct harm to the Parasect, even if it had left Tori in serious condition, and was here for only one thing, the saliva that would help the Nidorina and Roselia recuperate.

He drew his hand back slowly, before reaching his other into his bag and withdrawing a small empty bottle, opening it up as the hand that reached in before took a gentle hold of it. He took a small breath as he slowly crept closer.

"I just came for some of the Parasect's saliva," he whispered, audibly enough not to disturb the bug but loud enough that the light, given the possibility of it being sentient, would be listening. "It has made some pokemon very sick, one of mine included, and I need its spit to make a cure for them before it's too late...I have no idea why it would be looking for wild pokemon to infect with its mushrooms, but all I ask is access to the mouth so I can collect that liquid, then we'll be off..."

Giving a look back at his pokemon, he waved his spare hand down, giving them the command to stand down, to which Herex and Glasspine did so, the Sandshrew keeping a hold of the sand trap but slowing it down so not to cause panic among the colony. Pridwen simply sat there, blinking with curiosity at the lights, while giving a small wobble to try and get a grip in the soil. Of course, if the Parasect did anything to attack Alex, the steel type wouldn't hold back with a barrage of pin missiles, but only if it was necessary. Orders were orders, after all. All the while, Alex approached the Parasect and the light, seeking the bug's mouth to try and extract the saliva Persimmon needed.

"Axel, Franklin; that was beautiful--!" Alice started, the two Trubbish down for the count from their fantastic teamwork. Her Abra had definitely gotten tougher, and she was proud of her sleepy little soldier. Mimi, too, was already far more courageous in spite of what had transpired not long before at the Starline River. Before she could go any further, though, an explosion boomed not too far away, and she had to grab onto Ivan's shoulder to avoid hitting the ground. Axel had sat up a little straighter, but Mimi was utterly thrown by it. Blue eyes flit up to watch the Wartortle once again run loose over the hill, and she's both worried about Franklin and annoyed at the Ranger's obvious lack of discipline for it to have just run off without him. He's obviously following his own trainer's example, but now wasn't the time to complain about it, especially since the battle could have gone a whole different way without them.

"Oh, shit, Dutchess...!" The trainer panicked. If that had come from Tank, then for all she knew, the old lady might not have a Pokemon left to wail on. Her stomach turned, expression darkening as Greg cackled and tried to drag this on. Gastly's strategy would do him no good here. "Don't even try it, you piece of shit. Mimi, confusion and thunderbolt on that ghost, and don't look into its eyes! Axel, back her up with zen headbutt and ice punches! If this guy isn't going to play fair then neither are we!" Alice said decisively, attention turning to Greg, and her face was just as murderous.

"You're going to wish you scrambled or gave in, arsehole," The blonde promised, "I swear to Arceus. You hear me?"

"I see! That is a great choice!" Samuel grinned at her, before leading the way to the door. "Well, we're going to need to go back outside for this one. We're going to be doing this trial out back, I'll lead the way!" She followed him out and then around to the back of the cabin, listening as he explained how the trial was going to work.

"So for my trial we will be having a log cutting competition. I have the perfect log out back for such an occasion too!" He chuckled and Melissa grinned, a bit confused. "This is going to be a 3 vs 3 competition, we will each have 3 Pokémon who are to work together to get the job done. Each round, there will be one Pokémon doing the cutting and the other two Pokémon will either defend their cutter or attack the opposing team's cutter. There can only be one Pokémon cutting at a time but you may switch out which Pokémon is doing the cutting at the beginning of each round."

They arrived at the clearing and the first thing Melissa noticed was the giant log lying on the ground, missing a crown, roots, and any stray branches. Samuel released three Pokémon as she glanced around.

"Now it's time to introduce your competition! This here is Odachi the Lurantis." It blinked at her a few times and she blinked back at it. That was...an Alolan, she thought. Definitely Grass and she thought it was just that, but she wasn't exactly sure. "And here we have Gladius the Kabutops." The fossil nodded at her and she nodded back. Rock and Water, she knew. Which meant she'd need something to counter that. "And that one over there is Reaper the Scyther." Samuel's Scyther had already stationed itself on the far end of the log, clearly eager to start. So, this was the Scyther that bested the kid. "He really loves these trials. Well, you and your Pokémon can have this end of the log since it seems that Reaper has already chosen which end my team is going to be on. Whenever you're ready, go ahead and send out whichever Pokémon will be taking part in this trial and we can start! Also, you may issue two commands to each of your Pokémon per round as well." Two commands per round, huh? Got it.

Melissa nodded and turned away as Samuel walked over to his side and began giving his Pokémon orders. She called out Signal and Ore and then took a moment to consider who her third Pokémon should be. She wanted to send out a Grass-type, but none of them were around the level of the ones she'd already sent out, so...Cirrus might be her best bet.

Calling her Swablu out, she started giving out orders. "Ore, I'm gonna need you on the log with Fury Swipes and...let's try a Shadow Claw." Her Sableye chittered at her, disgruntled. "I know this isn't exactly what you'd prefer doing, but you're probably the best one at this." He huffed at her and she sighed. "Alright. We'll go treasure hunting some time." Ore nodded, satisfied, and loped to their end of the log to act as the Cutter. Melissa resisted the urge to roll her eyes and turned to Signal. "You're gonna be on defense, okay? So, we're going with Thunder Wave and Confuse Ray. Once we've, hopefully, nailed them with a status effect, it should be easier to hit them later." Signal blinked his understanding and attempted to prepare himself for a possible attack. Cirrus twittered from his perch on the edge of the log, looking amused. "Yup. So, let's hit their Cutter with an Aerial Ace and then an Air Cutter." Her Swablu nodded and took off, circling overhead.

"Now, let's see how this goes," Melissa said under her breath, watching attentively. Wildfire nodded from his perch on her shoulder, just as interested in seeing how things went.

Maskerade- Your voice echoed through the small cave, making it sound much louder than you intended. The scraping noise stopped for a moment, seeming to notice your presence before it continued. You quickly caught up with Munchlax, who looked anxious to continue through the cave. At your instruction Staryu readied itself to provide defense for your team. Munchlax took a moment to forget his worries and boost his defense against any special attacks he might encounter.

With your team prepared, you continued your way down the low-ceiling hallway. There were more drawings on the wall, and although you wanted to be careful, you couldn’t help but take a look. A group of archers and Pokemon like Lycanroc and Carbink were depicted fighting against the dark figures that you had seen surrounding the town. However, they didn’t look to be winning. The next scene showed fallen trainers and Pokemon, with Priestesses at their side attempting to heal them. The dark shadows loomed in a swirling cloud above.

“Munch!” Your Pokemon warned. The three of you stopped suddenly and looked to what Munchlax had noticed. In the distance, where Staryu’s light could not quite reach, was a glowing, red, flashing shape. It was rather complex, made up of two semi circles and a lower complete circle. The scraping sound echoed all around you. Staryu immediately put up its Barrier, right before a purple light surged toward your group. The light bounced off of Staryu’s shield, bouncing back at the direction it came. It lit up the hallway momentarily, just long enough for you to see a shadowy, spinning figure.

------------
Raves- You knew your Pokemon were perfectly capable of handling themselves. Glasspine had the group of Paras under control, still screeching and squirming to free themselves of the Tomb the Sandshrew had created. Herex, finished recovering from her confusion of being surrounded by the strange light, joined your side. She looked worried at the glittering presence floating around your hand. Herex clicked her jaw at you in caution, but understood that you had a plan.

You meant no harm here, the glowing orbs of light seemed to understand that. After all, you were the only intruder that hadn’t attacked. It followed you as you moved your hand to your bag, and you felt some pressure against your hand urging you to pull the bottle out faster. The pressure persisted until the light surrounded the bottle, then danced back up your arm. You took a few steps toward Parasect, but then found yourself unable to move your legs. The light was surrounding it, and it felt as if someone was physically pulling your legs toward the ground. In order to calm it, you whispered your intentions. The small orbs floated near your mouth, moving with the shape of your lips. As soon as you finished your explanation and directed your Pokemon to back off, the orbs surrounded your hand again and you were pulled right up to the Parasect. The Bug-type’s blank eyes rose to look at you. Its whole body twitched, but it looked unable to do much because of its injuries. The orbs of light had left you, instead forming themselves in a barrier separating you from your Pokemon. The Parasect looked back down at the ground, too tired to resist anymore.

Your team watched you delicately approach the Parasect. Glasspine reduced the intensity of his Sand Tomb, and the Paras struggled to get back to their feet. Suddenly, the Paras all cried out triumphantly. Herex felt something drop on her head, and she looked up to see the soil above her moving, chunks of it raining from the ceiling. Small claws burst through the dirt, and more Paras were coming to assist their compromised comrades. You had gained full access to Parasect, but time was running out.

(OOC: "Wasn't very effective"? I'm not sure if this was a general statement or a mechanical one, but Rock doesn't resist itself~!)

It was awfully hard to to tell, but it almost seemed as if the tangrowth was smiling a little- likely because her concoction had taken hold with great effect. Not only did this force Godzilla out in the open, but it also kept the lunatone from going for the flag- though that one admittedly seemed like and unlikely possibility anyway. She extended her Viney arm once more, but her goal this time wasn't just to Whip the larvitar and get him out of the way, but to also use the leftover momentum to Knock the Psychic Type Off of its spot in the sky as well- the less control it had over the situation, the better, after all!

The fall of the enemies' Flag Keeper gave Chroma's other pokemon a bit of a morale boost, especially with Lulu being too busy gagging to make for the difference. Louise sighed in relief, but knew better than to let her guard down now- there wasn't much time left at all, and the lycanroc could get over her affliction at any moment. She motioned for Mia/Plad to head towards the flag, making sure the staryu was still ready to use Water Gun should things go south again, and turned back to the annoying dog... er, wolf. The mawile rushed at Lulu for one (hopefully) last Faint Attack, then focused her mind to unveil one new trick up her sleeves... and Switched places with her Ally by the flag, since her hands had a better chance at grasping the thing than the stayu's arms did!

Was this the end of the game at last?
