UPN PASBL: Gym Match - Jerichi vs Beautiful Savage

In the world renowned studio that now bears the title of the Eeveelution Gym, there is a stir. It is usually a fairly quiet gym, and has not seen activity for some time. All is about to change; a challenger approaches. Beautiful Savage, an up and coming trainer, recently appointed thePsychic Gym Trainer of The Room of the Enlightened, approaches the studio with his head held high. He is confident. Stepping into the gym, he is greeted by the gym leader, the president of the league, the legend himself, Jerichi. The referee soon approaches, a fellow Psychic Gym Trainer taking the oppertunity to oversee the match between his associate, and his superior. The referee waves his hands to grab the attention of the battlers...

"Welcome to the Shinka Workshop, challenger! This match will be a 4 versus 4, no switching match. The entire workshop will be your battleground, and different rooms will become the battleground depending on the leaders choice of pokemon."

Quote:
4v4
Equiall 2
Slapstick
48 Hour DQ
Switch = KO
The referee sends out his Abra, Carmack, to assist with the teleportation of the battlers from room to room. Carmack gives a quick wave to the combatants and prepares himself. The challenger looks over a handbook, detailing the rooms that are available to battle in.

Spoiler: show
Shinka Workshop Gym (Advanced Indoor/Outdoor Arena)
On a peaceful hillside just outside Pallet, the Indigo League has funded a large art complex for the education of the Kanjohto citizens, which makes all official art, designs and architecture for official league buildings and functions. In recent years, it has fallen into disuse, prompting the league to turn to utilize its space and turn it into a Gym. With the assistance of breeders (and a contribution from Professor Oak), a crop of Eevees were bred for the league's first experimental Gym, an Eeveelution Gym. The Eevee were raised on the studio's grounds, and each soon took up art, working tirelessly in the workshop's many facilities.

Though the Eeveelutions prefer to work elsewhere, each of the combatants have their own space where they will face their foes. When the leader performs a successful switch, both Pokémon will be teleported to the appropriate arena.

The Sketchroom (Eevee)

A large, circular room that makes up the very center of the complex, the sketchroom is a well-lit, open room that is perfect for modeling and sketching. Plenty of tables, stools, stands and easels are peppered around the area, all stocked with art supplies. There's a lot of cozy spaces to cram in and hide for the tiny one that scampers about. The floor is a soft clay, making it easy to dig in and easy to get a firm grip.
When not battling, Scribbles spends much time here, perfecting her drawings and charcoal works.

The Dye Pool (Vaporeon)

A bright, open area on the north side of the building, the Dye Pool is used to dye, wash and treat fabric, as well as acting as the water source for the gardens outside and the rest of the complex, fed by a small spring at the very base. Its very pure water is perfect for dying and cleaning, and the lack of contaminants makes it a poor conductor of electricity. The pool itself is fairly large, about the size of a standard arena, and is about 15 feet deep. This northern part of the building tends to receive quite a bit of rain, and there is generally a small drizzle, though the impressive stained glass enclosure seals it off from the outside, as well as casting beautiful colors over the water.
Tincture spends much of her time in this room, dying her handmade Caterpie-silk textiles with silk harvested from the Viridian Forest.

The Calligraphy Studio (Jolteon)

This studio on the eastern wing has a bit of an Asian flair, lined with paper walls and covered in (quite springy!) tatami mats. Almost always exposed to the outdoors, it much of the time finds itself in the midst of storms, with rain rolling in off the ocean. Being a traditional, Japanese-style construction, use of arena-manipulating moves are heavily discouraged due to its fragile floor and foundation, and might just cause the user to fall through the floor! The space is wide and open, allowing a lot of room for movement and creativity.
Ink spends quite a lot of time in these rooms, perfecting his calligraphic arts.

The Kiln (Flareon)

The huge kiln in the west wing of the workshop doubles both as a pottery kiln and a blast fire for glass making, often both at once. This causes this part of the building on the southern wing to be particularly hot, making it much hotter than the rest of the complex. Fires blaze from both ends of the studio, giving it the feeling of a scorching desert, seeming as if it were under the influence of constant Bright Sun. The ground is solid concrete, making it quite hard to manipulate or affect. Plenty of hunks of clay lay all about the studio, ready for flinging, and even a few glass pieces might be around...
Strangely, Verre is the most common occupant of this part of the building, working on his carefully crafted glass, though Marble might fire her occasional clay sculpture.

The Gallery (Espeon)

A huge domed gallery occupies the entire second floor of the building, filled with walls displaying many works by the Eeveelution artists. All of the works are displayed in fire-, water- and shatter-proof frames and cases, though nothing is exactly pinned down to the floor, making it ripe for the chucking. The ceiling is decorated with sparkling gems made to look like stars that issue a strange influence over the arena, casting an effect similar to Miracle Eye over the area.

Brush often spends his time in the gallery, hoping to learn from his teammates and gather some inspiration for his next project.

The Darkroom (Umbreon)

This tight little room in the basement houses the photo development darkroom. This room is constantly bathed in a red light, making it difficult to see for those not used to the dark. The room is not very large - only 50 x 50 yards, and is lined with all kinds of development equipment, including some chemicals that may irritate or poison those unfortunate enough to come in contact with them.
Snapshot spends an awful lot of time down in this basement developing his photos, some of which still hang around the room.

The Sculpture Garden (Leafeon)

This garden occupies the southern portion of the complex, also acting as its entryway. This garden is sprawling and teaming with plant life, much of it growing to be quite big and full. Beautiful landscapes have been created from the plants here, many of them truly works of art themselves next to the impressive marble sculptures that are scattered about. A few paths cut through the gardens, though much of it can only be accessed by braving the tangle of plants, which act as perfect hiding places for Grass Pokémon who run around the area.
Though Tincture keeps up some of the grounds, Watercolor mostly tends to these gardens and often makes them the subject of her paintings.

The Sculpting Freezer (Glaceon)

Also in the basement is a special freezer, originally built to house blocks of ice for ice sculpting. This area, however, has become home to quite a few different types of sculptures over the years, with a few little warmer alcoves for other types of sculpture. Battles, however, take place in the ice freezer where sculptures and blocks are stored. This freezer is cooled to a crisp 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the optimal temperature for ice sculpture. Frost covers the walls and floors, making it particularly slick. The freezer itself is solid steel and cannot be manipulated in any way. A giant fan circulates air through the freezer, making it seem as if there is a constant snowstorm blowing through the area.
Preferring the cool to sculpt, Marble has made this into her sculpture workshop, working with clay, ice and her namesake, marble.

The Design Loft (Sylveon)

After the mysterious appearance of a strange new Eeveelution in the Shinka Workshop, a new section of the Gym was built to accommodate its newest member, Couture the Sylveon. This new studio has been built atop the existing facilities, residing in a rather spacious, well-lit loft space. The floor is lined with silky carpet, and the walls are draped with soft curtains and flowing ribbons. There are two concentric circles of thick, opaque curtains which divide the studio into three rings. The entire room is dotted with a number of dress forms, each with in-progress design projects. The inner most ring has two large, heavy drafting tables that can be hidden under. The outermost ring has a number of large bureaus which can be hidden behind or in.

The gym leader then grabs the attention of the challenger away from the handbook, as he pulls out the Pallet Badge, the reward that would be bestowed upon him if he manages to best him...

Spoiler: show
Pallet Badge
Global Badge
This badge radiates with powerful evolutionary energy, imbued with the power of the elements. It contains small shards of each evolutionary stone, with an everstone set in its center. The energies from the badge grant the wearer abilities beyond their natural capabilities, allowing them to tap into energies they never have before.
Badge Effect: Adaptability
When the trainer posts their squad, he or she may choose two (if posting second) or three (if posting first) moves which are learned by Pokémon on the squad. When each pokemon in the match is sent out, the badge holder may choose one of these moves to add to his pokemon's movepool. This move is usable until the Pokémon faints or runs out of type energy. If they do not normally have this type in their move set, they will be granted a significant amount of type energy or enough for one use, whichever is greater. Mimic restrictions apply. Sig moves and Sketch may not be chosen, but normal moves gained through a sig may. Legend exclusive moves may not be chosen.

"Are you ready, trainers? If so, let's see the squad the Gym Leader will be using for this battle!"

Squad and Items from Jerichi please.

Watercolor - Female Vaporeon (Level 3) [HP Ground]
Watercolor specializes in traditional painting and landscape portraiture. She has studied all variety of paint techniques, but she prefers her namesake, watercolors, the most. Often, she can be found working on a new landscape piece in the Sculpture Garden, and when she's not painting, she is often tending to its many plants. Together with Tincture, she makes her own paints from berries and wild plants grown in the garden, having developed a technique using soils to create thick and vibrant paints. Through her love of gardening and paint, she has developed a special technique that helps her befuddle her foes.
Special Attack - Paint Bomb (Ground)
Watercolor spits up a big ball of multicolored mud, laced with all types of potent berry-derived juices. This attack deals significant Ground-type damage. The paint is rather thick and sticky and lingers afterwards, hindering movement for about 3 rounds.

Scribbles - Female Flareon (Level 6) [HP Fighting]
Scribbles specializes in sketch art with pencil and, in particular, charcoal. Scribbles is the only one of the Shinka Artists not to be bred and raised for the Gym, instead being my own personal Eevee that I brought in to complete my set. She has settled in well, however, spending much of her time in the sketchroom, working on all sorts of drawings. When not sketching, she is often found out on the grounds, burning off her excess energy.
Signature Attack - Scribbles Shot (Fire)
This move is a slight variation on Searing Shot with a bit more explosive force behind it. Scribbles draws circles in the air with her tail, sending a circular wave of Fire energy rapidly towards her foe. This energy surrounds them and after a few moments, explodes inwards with a great amount of force. This attack normally does solid damage for significant energy with a 30% chance of a burn, but for Pokémon with hard, rocky or firm bodies (e.g. Rock/Ground types), it does heavy damage (ignoring Rock's resistance) due to the explosive force, though the burn chance is reduced to 10%.

Snapshot - Male Jolteon (Level 3) [HP Grass]
Snapshot's specialty is photography. He is actually the least likely to be found around the Gym, as he spends most of his time traveling the region, collecting photographs for his monthly exhibitions. He does, however, come around ever so often to develop his photos (he uses both film and digital, through a device of his own invention that shoots both). Hoping to perfect his art, he has developed a variety of new developing chemicals, and, in his experimentation, developed a concoction that is very highly conductive.
Signature Technique - Development Fluid (Poison)
Snapshot has replaced his poison stores with a peculiar chemical used in his special photo development process. This fluid is very viscous and extremely polarized and very easily conducts electricity. When ordered, Snapshot spits this fluid all over his foe, soaking them in it. This causes any Ground-typed Pokémon to lose their immunity to Electric attacks, including slimy (i.e. Water/Ground) ones. If the Pokémon is not immune to Electric attacks, it increases the effectiveness of Electric attacks somewhat and will cause them to home slightly towards the foe. This technique uses significant energy and can only be used once per battle.

Marble - Female Espeon (Level 3) [HP Bug]
Marble's specialty is sculpture and ceramics, particularly stonework. Marble has dabbled in all sorts of sculpture over her career, but primarily works in stone, specifically with marble. She can often be found in her basement studio, using her telekinetic abilities to perform delicate chips and craft detailed shapes into her pieces. Her eye for detail and careful crafting can be seen in her battling abilities, which are elegant and filled with finesse.
Special Training - A Sculptor's Paw
Every four rounds, Marble can be ordered to use a Detailed move. For 25% more energy and a little additional charge time, the attack will be slightly larger, travel slightly faster and be slightly more accurate as well as 20% more powerful. This can also be used on non-damaging moves, allowing them to last one round longer or be more potent (though healing moves cannot be boosted in this manner).

Tincture - Male Leafeon (Level 3) [HP Rock] @ Harvester's Token
Tincture specializes in fabric dye and production, including clothing and accessory manufacture. Tincture has dabbled in just about every type of technique involving fabric and dye and will do just about anything, but his signature product is Caterpie silk with fresh berry dyes from the Sculpture Garden. His dyes and silk fabrics are world famous and handmade, but he doesn't share his secret recipe with anyone... mostly because they're a bit toxic!
Signature Technique - Powdered Dye (Grass)
Tincture's body has accumulated a significant amount of dye through his years of work. Since the dyes are made out of some rare and volatile berries, they have some strange effects. When ordered, Tincture shakes her body and releases a burst of powdered dye. When the attack makes contact with the foe, it causes them to have a severe allergic reaction, which can distract them and interrupt a move, as well as dropping their defense and special defense sharply. While the allergic effects wear off quickly, the drop will fade like a normal boost. This move can affect inorganics, though only the drop will occur, not the allergic effects. This attack costs solid energy.

Verre - Female Glaceon (Level 3) [HP Water] @ Sculptor's Token
Verre's specialty is glass, particularly in glass blowing and stained glass. Verre originally worked with ice, but soon found it to be a rather limiting and temporary medium, moving to an aesthetically familiar alternative. Despite the heat, she finds it to be her ideal art form, using a mixture of traditional techniques and her own signature method in which she flash freezes the glass while red hot, causing it to be particularly crystalline (and fairly brittle!). She spends much of her time in the Kiln, and can be found cooling off between sessions in the Dye Pool or down in the Sculpture Freezer below.
Signature Attack - Diamond Dust (Ice)
Cooling the air around her rapidly, Verre creates a huge cloud of fine, supercool ice particles using considerable energy. She then blows them at the foe, rapidly chilling them and dealing good damage. This attack has some lasting effects, interferring with the target's natural defenses and lowering both defense and special defense one stage. There is a 10% chance of frost bite, which acts like a burn.

Badge or whatever.

I'm just going to shamelessly squad in this and hope I don't get yelled at.

Mixtape: Level 3 Male Seismitoad (Uplevel)
Biography: As a Tympole, Mixtape got beat up a lot. So now that he's big and strong, he never wants to get beat up again. So much so that he would rather retreat than lose. He developed this battle cry technique to aid in that retreating process.
Signature: Special Attack: Skip Track [Water]
Using Significant Water energy, Mixtape lets out a scream laced with Water Energy. The auditory attack deals Decent Water damage. Mixtape then uses the remaining energy to retreat into his Pokeball, much like U-Turn or Volt Switch.
Hidden Power: Flying

Hope: Level 2 Female Beheeyem
Biography: The story behind Hope's special typing is one of blind chance. Like many other Pokemon, Hope began her days as an egg at the Daycare Center. One day, her egg was left out in the yard during a bad storm, and, by purely bad luck, it got struck by lightning. The Daycare workers (Daycarers?) were horrified to learn this once the storm cleared. However, a quick inspection showed the egg to be in perfect condition! Relieved, they brought the egg inside to incubate with the others. It wasn't until Hope hatched that they realized something had gone wrong. The electricity from the lightning had mutated Hope's genes, turning her into a Psychic/Electric Pokemon!
Signature: Type Change: Supercharged [Psychic/Electric]
Hope is now a Psychic/Electric type Pokemon with all associated weaknesses and resistances. She's learned Discharge, Volt Switch, and Parabolic Charge to accompany her new typing, but has forgotten Barrier, Cosmic Power, and Psyshock.
Hidden Power: Psychic

Samson: Level 2 Male Sawk
Biography: Pending
Signature
Pending
Hidden Power: Fighting

Bazooka: Level 2 Female Magby
Biography: The first word that comes to mind when describing Bazooka is fast. She likes to do everything quickly. Talking, eating, and especially moving. But not only does she like to do things quickly, she also likes to do things effectively. So we made a fast and effective technique to help her do better in battle.
Signature: Special Attack: Tactical Retreat [Fire]
Using Considerable Fire Energy, Bazooka shoots a huge fireball at her opponent. This fireball deals no damage. Instead, it causes a 10% reduction of the opponent's defenses and has a 50% chance of causing severe burns. Bazooka uses the knockback from firing the shot to retreat into her Pokeball. Bazooka never learned how to use Smokescreen or Detect due to her training for this move.
Hidden Power: Fighting

Hisako: Level 2 Female Kadabra
Biography: Hisako has always had a very defensive tendency during battle. Through intensive practicing of Cubic Light Screens and Cubic Reflects, Hisako has managed to develop a more permanent solution. She has now learned to utilize these defensive techniques in her own unique way.
Signature: Special Training: Armor
Hisako is now engulfed in a psychic aura in the shape of armor that permanently raises both her Defense and Special Defense by 10%. However, she can not use Dazzling Gleam, Energy Ball, or Zap Cannon.
Hidden Power: Psychic

Rebecca: Level 2 Female Cubone
Biography: Kuvira. Poor, poor Rebecca. Her story, like that of many Cubone, starts off sad. She was alone in the world with naught but her mother's skull to protect her. She wandered the land, looking for companions that she'd never find, doing what she could to survive. This solitary lifestyle led her to be quite timid. She became wary of other Pokemon and trainers as they had never offered help and, in fact, were sometimes harmful. Thus, when the stampede of charging Tauros came, she ran. Fast. And, unfortunately, in her rush to get away, ran right off a cliff. Lucky for her, some trainers happened upon her small, broken body soon enough to get her to a nearby Center for treatment. Rebecca had to go through multiple reconstructive surgeries, and her skull (the one on the outside) had to be soldered back together. Now recovered, I adopted the poor broken Pokemon onto my team. Through training, we discovered that her surgeries had actually strengthened her defensively. This helped her build her confidence over time and begin to get over her natural timidness.
Signature: Type Change: Six Million Dollar Pokemon [Ground/Steel]
Due to the reconstruction of her skull, Rebecca is now a Ground/Steel type. She has all the normal weaknesses and resistances of that typing except she is resistant to Poison instead of immune and is neutral to Bug and Fairy instead of resistant. The Steel Type Species Characteristics only apply to her Skull and Bone, as they were the only parts soldered back together. She has also learned Meteor Mash and Bullet Punch to accompany her new typing.
Hidden Power: Ground

---

Alright, how about we have Hisako start things off?

A young man walks into the room, a stale taste on his tongue as he senses a lack of movement. He glances to the side and sees a motionless referee alongside a confused-looking Abra while two trainers stand on opposite sides of the room. The newcomer taps a Pokeball at his waist, releasing an Alakazam. "Amphitryon, get rid of them, won't you?" He says, nodding towards the referee and Abra. Without a sound, the Alakazam teleports across the room to the duo, then reaches out, grabbing them before teleporting once more. After another moment, he returns and stands idly by, waiting for something else to happen that requires his attention.

"I'll be taking this over. Jerichi, whenever you're ready."

So I'd had no idea this had moved and now Sav has been gone for who knows how long. Jeri, what do you want to do with this? Let it sit? Cancel? Icebox?
