Cerulean Bay: Just beyond the Nugget Bridge, this humble bay is a popular lookout for day trips and romantic getaways, as well as the occasional battle. The first round battle takes place just past the slope of the lookout, making a half-circle around the relatively shallow waters of the ocean. The combatants start just off the thin beach formed at the base of the lookout, about ten yards from the drop-off where the water becomes much deeper out east. The lookout itself is easily scalable, with a small path leading to its tip, about 40 feet from the shore below.
I usually post a nonsensical quip about how excited I am about the match, but I'm not usually quite as excited as I am for this one. So with that, Connor to squad.

Today's battle features two trainers who seem to be after a spot of fun. Sporting rented Pokemon, Connor and Kuva are meeting here in Cerulean Bay to test their skill with specific types. Connor is wielding the Dark Type, while Kuva is continuing his futile pursuit of Water. Just kidding. Love you, buddy. After exchanging friendly pleasantries, the two trainers launch their borrowed Pokeballs into the air. The capsules split open in twin bursts of light, revealing the champions each trainer have decided to begin the battle with. On Connor's side, a ferocious Hydreigon by name of Belial hovers by the water's edge. Opposing him is Phosphora, a Lanturn which darts elusively through the waters below.

Quote:
Hydreigon (Dark/Dragon): Hydreigon are extremely frightening, violent, temperamental and intimidating Pokémon. They levitate almost constantly, though are somewhat slow due to their size. Their hands have developed into two heads, both completely under the control of the main head and used to attack, both physically and specially, and their Tri Attack is more powerful than normal. They are extremely sensitive to movement and are able to target a foe even at a significant distance or if they are hiding. Despite their great power, they are very hard to control and easy to anger, and may potentially disobey their trainer, especially if angered or otherwise displeased.
Spoiler: show
[Dark]: Dark-types can see in the dark. They fight more enthusiastically at night and are more effective at hiding in dark environments than other Pokémon, though light does not adversely affect them. Their Dark type attacks will also become much more intimidating during the night, giving them a small additional chance to flinch. They are immune to the damaging effects of Psychic-type energy but may still be lifted and manipulated by telekinesis. They are slightly better at tricking opponents than other Pokémon, allowing them to plant more potent curses and to use moves like Feint Attack to greater effect.
[Dragon]ragon-types tend to be strong swimmers and fliers, though they are not always as agile as other Pokémon. They fight more enthusiastically in warm climates but are less enthusiastic in colder ones. They radiate warmth from their core, and are slightly more resistant to chilling effects than other Pokémon. They are naturally very powerful Pokémon and their Dragon type attacks will have a stronger knockback than normal, but will deal no extra damage because of this.

Lanturn (Water/Electric): Lanturn are fish and thus are slow and nearly immobile on land, but are faster and more agile in the water. They fight more enthusiastically when submerged and in a sizeable body of water. Whenever a Lanturn uses an electric attack in the water, it creates a small amount of electricity around it, shocking anything in the water with it within 10 feet of it (damage is considered equal to a Thunder Shock for the most powerful electric attacks). They may also use their antennae as a light source in the same way that the Mareep family does with their tails.
Spoiler: show
[Water]: Water-type Pokémon are generally able to hold their breath and/or breathe underwater. The time varies, from several rounds in the case of birds, mammals and reptiles to indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are generally good swimmers, with fish excelling the most, and are better at manipulating Water for moves like Surf and Whirlpool than other Pokémon, using less energy to do so even outside of water. Their Surf and Whirlpool attacks do not lose potency when used without a water source.
[Electric]: Electric types are resistant to paralysis inflicted by Electric-type moves, though they may be paralysed as normal by other methods. Electric types do not suffer from recoil damage when using Electric attacks in the water. They have a high degree of control over their Electric type attacks, and as such they will suffer less from attempts to redirect them.
Belial opens all three mouths wide and lets out a bellowing Roar almost as soon as he's released, rising through the air as he does so. Understandably, this frightens Phosphora a bit, who was already a tad on edge due to Belial's striking appearance. Still, Phosphora has the presence of mind to realize that her opponent is rapidly rising out of reach. Knowing she has to make her move quick, she hastily sends a large wave of water crashing toward her opponent, electing not to Surf on it. At this point of the game, however, Phosphora's weakened Surf wasn't much more than a splash to Belial, who continued to rise. Achieving his desired altitude, the dragon begins to circle rapidly through the air. So fast, in fact, that Phosphora begins to see Double. Before long, there appears to be a full Team of five Hydreigons circling in the sky above Phosphora. Phosphora, unsure of which Hydreigon to attack, opts instead to let our a Supersonic... fishnoise. Whatever noise a fish makes. The high pitches sound (as well as the ambiguity as to just what the sound is) confuses Belial a bit, but not a debilitating amount.

Phosphora as established a small but nowhere near insurmountable lead. Belial is also confused, but not so much as to be crippling. Sorry for the wait, I'll try to be better. Connor, as the challenger, will order next.

Get yourself and your clones on the move as you try to work through the confusion and rain down a Snarl on them. Follow through with a Dark Pulse, make sure to remain strafing with your clones.

Ice Beam while they're dazed. Thunder Wave right after. If you weren't able to use Ice Beam, then use Blizzard instead of T-Wave.

Belial and his clones circle through the air above the Bay, occasionally tossing a menacing look at Phosphora in the water below in an attempt to mask his confusion. Deciding it was time to take action, he Snarls, lacing the sound with Dark energy that ripples across the Bay. Phosphora, of course, wasn't just sitting around waiting. While Belial worked through his confusion, Phosphora was concocting a nasty attack of her own. Quickly gathering her Ice energy, she fires it in the form of a ragged Beam as the sound of Belial's dark Snarl reaches her ears. The ferocious sound scares Phosphora more than before, causing her to sink deeper into the water as her Ice Beam destroys one of Belial's clones, leaving four Hydreigons circling in the sky and no indication as to which is the real one. Finally working his way out of his confusion, Belial smiles and blasts the frightened fish with a Pulsing stream of Dark type energy. This attack, combined with Phosphora's now firmly ingrained fear, causes her to sink ever deeper in the water to relative safety instead of attacking.

Belial has now taken the (small) lead, taking no damage this turn. He has three clones remaining, and is good for two and is only just beginning to tire. Phosphora is fairly frightened by Belial's intimidation techniques and, though she only has around half her Ice Energy remaining, is fresh thanks to the accidental one mover. Kuva to order.

That was actually really dumb on my part.

Switch over to Erina, my Lapras.

Quote:
Level 6

Erina: Female Lapras
Hidden Power: Fighting
Widespread Icy Wind to eliminate the Double Team clones, then follow up with an Ice Beam.

In the event that Phosphora was unable to switch out, Discharge to eliminate their clones. Then follow with an MC Hyper Beam.

Shift your real body behind him as you throw down a Focus Blast, let him begin Icy Wind before unleashing. Then go all guns blazing and Head Smash the shit out of him.
