Omanyte UPN PASBL: DarkLucarioADV vs Concept

So, alright, I'm sure most people are wondering why I'm taking a reffing. First of all, I want slots. Of course that's never been much of a motivator to begin with, so I'm also doing this as a test. Dave may or may not have convinced me to take one last shot at reffing, and I've been trying to pull myself up and forwards in my life and in ASB, and if I want refs in ASB to start getting more respect, well then I'm going to have to ref and set an example, aren't I?

Enough of that. Today we have a match between DarkLucarioADV, a new trainer who seems to have some sort of fetish being annihilated by much better opponents, and Concept, new sponsor of Rust-Eze and general Fuhrer of Fun.

Quote:

Pummello Stadium
The Pummello Stadium, for those of you who don't know, is a Rock arena with a pool in the middle. Pretty simple, but allows for some arena abuse if you are smart and know what you are doing.

DarkLucarioooooooooooo, start us off!

Didn't expect you to take the match, blaze, but thanks for doing so anyway. Good luck 'Cept though you won't need it.

Here's my squad of mediocrity:

Spoiler: show
Level 2 Male Ralts
Kirlia was separated from the others of his species, after accidentally Teleporting to a far away location, and has never seen them since. He was very timid initially, and the fact that he had to fend for himself from then on came to his as a shock. Whenever he saw any Pokemon that looked dangerous to him, he would just Teleport away, not daring to face them in battle. Often, he would flee from gentle Pokemon, just because they were large and scary. Due to this, he led a solitary life, not being with other Pokemon. Attempting to hide from his predators, he once went into a cave. However, deep inside it, he encountered a fierce Druddigon, who thought Kirlia wanted to steal the gold and jewels that he was guarding, and attacked the smaller Pokemon. Scared, Ralts immediately Teleported out of the cave and ran away.
Over the course of his life in the forest, he Teleported away from countless Pokemon, like Zangoose and Aggron, meeting them in caves or in the forest. Eventually, a predator Taunted him to prevent him from escaping. Unable to run away, Kirlia knew he had to fight. Using his skill in Teleportation as an attack, he struck his opponent from behind, managing to knock it out after a harsh fight. This incident steeled his will, and make Ralts a much braver Pokemon. Later, sensing the squad members' good intentions, he decided to join the squad. To this date, he utilizes his Teleportation during his battles.
Special Attack: Instant Transmission [PS]
Using a major amount of Psychic Type energy, the user suddenly teleports behind the user, and strikes it with a physical attack, inflicting a significant amount of typeless damage. This move can only be used twice per match. The wielder of this move can no longer use conventional Teleport, Double Team, Ally Switch, Heal Pulse, Destiny Bond or Pain Split.

Level 1 Male Pichu
Even before joining the squad, the rodent has always been interested in shooting things. He regularly practices his aim, which has become extremely precise after having been honed for so much time. This was not always so, however. One day, Pikachu's homeland held a competition between Electric Types; the one with the most precise aim, and best control over their electricity was to be crowned the victor. Pikachu was not noteworthy or famous, and he wanted to make a name for himself. He wanted to prove that he was just as competent at aiming as any other Electric Type. He soon learned that besides aiming, the competition also involved concentration of power.
Pikachu decides to join in order to prove his mettle. He practiced a lot, knowing that every bit of experience can make a big difference. At last, the day itself came for him to put his training into play. He was met with extreme competition, all the Electric Types being well prepared. However, Pikachu in particular was able to concentrate his electricity into a new technique itself, which allowed him to hit the mark most accurately and forcefully. The nature of the move allowed it to pierce through almost any obstacles. After being declared the victor, and earning the respect of countless other Electric Types, Pikachu has now even incorporated the move into his battling style.
Special Attack: Static Snipe [EL]
Using heavy energy, the user shoots a narrow bolt of electricity towards the target. This bolt travels extremely fast and accurately. Due to its sheer momentum, it will easily pierce through Barrier, Light Screen and Reflect without losing power. This move deals significant damage. During his training, the wielder of this move forgot how to use Nasty Plot, Sweet Kiss and Thunder. He shall lose Hyper Beam and Giga Impact upon evolution, too.

Level 1 Male Froakie
Over the course of its existence, the squad has traveled far and wide, to many different places. Over time, it has accumulated more members, and has grown as a team. On one occasion, it was travelling through a pass in a mountain range. While it was relatively suitable for travel, it still had a rough terrain, and extremely fast winds. The smaller Pokemon struggled to maintain their footing. Frogadier, however, was not lucky enough. A sudden, immensely forceful gust of wind took him by surprise, sending him plummeting. He managed to grab the side of the mountain in time, and managed to get a footing before he could fall to his death, but getting back to the squad was not an easy task. The wind was blowing in the opposite direction, battering him, the air feeling like knives slicing against his face.
Frogadier, however, was not one to give up. With great effort, he started climbing up. The wind seemed to strengthen in response, but the small Water Type was too persistent. Fighting against the might gusts, he started reaching back up. Over time, he gained speed, and the wind itself seemed to realize that his will was too strong to sway. The Frogadier appeared to have gained his respect, and almost miraculously, it started blowing from behind Froakie, aiding his ascent. Feeling the support and harnessing the power of the wind itself, he managed to race up the side of the mountain with his feet, leaving a streak of Flying Type energy behind him. The experience had left him with the eternal support of the wind.
Special Attack: Wind Strike [FL]
The user charges its body with Flying Type energy, then gets a sudden burst of speed, starting to spin around the opponent, leaving streaks of Flying Type energy behind. This energy soon forms a tornado around the victim, knocking lighter opponents around, and usually dealing considerable Flying Type damage. It will leave the user with a Speed boost. This move requires heavy Flying Type energy, and the user has enough Flying Type energy to use it twice per match. During the dangerous experience, Froakie forgot how to use Toxic, Water Sport, Round, and Echoed Voice and Blizzard.

Level 1 Male Treecko.
Ever since he was a Treecko, the Grass Type has always been fascinated with cricket. He would usually spend a lot of time playing it with the other squad members, using his tail as a bat. He was considered some kind of authority on cricket, always being the one to go to if one needed advice or information on that topic. He considered cricket matches to be extremely serious; if he lost even a single one for whatever reason, he would often end up very sad, before he decided to attempt to get back at the opponent who defeated him. This, however, was extremely rare, due to his immense skill and experience in cricket. To this date, he continues to play it with much passion, determined to be very best, like no one ever was. Indeed, his skill and experience combined were too extreme for even the greatest of human cricketers to match.
However, his team of cricketers among the squad members ended up on the losing side. Grovyle's teammates had been soundly overwhelmed, and he was their last hope for victory. Confidently, almost arrogantly, he marched into the field of battle, before he beheld the intimidating bowler. He knew that special measures had to be taken in order to emerge victorious. As the ball was thrown towards him, he concentrated a huge amount of energy into his tail, coating it with a gigantic shell, before smashing the ball in midair. The sphere was sent flying at an incredible pace, shooting farther away then any of the squad members had ever achieved before. His team cheered for him, and the experience left Grovyle much more satisfied and calmer than before, another trait that he is now known for.
Special Attack: Batsman [GR]
Using a severe amount of energy, the user coats his tail with energy in the formation of a giant tail, which envelopes the real one. The energy then solidifies, creating an almost ridiculously huge, greenish bat. The user swings this new tail at the opponent, inflicting major damage and sending most victims flying. The victim can take additional damage from colliding with something after being sent flying. Due to the experience, the wielder forgot how to use Leaf Storm, Endeavor and Grass Whistle.

Level 1 Male Hawlucha.
Hawlucha used to live in a location not unlike a desert, filled with sand. However, in this location, there stood a power plant, the Hawlucha not knowing the reason for its existence. However, he knew one thing: going near it was not a good idea. The power plant, as would be expected, attracted countless Electric Types, who were going aggressive due to the large amount of electricity they had absorbed; they wanted to discharge the electricity, and what better way to do so than fry a Flying Type? The Pokemon were swiftly spreading around the desert, and the Hawlucha knew that it would not be long before he was in grave danger. He had to do something, and find a way to defend himself, or he knew that he would not last much longer unless he decided to flee from his home, which he feared that he might have to do.
One day, however, when the problem was growing ever more serious, Hawlucha encountered a Flygon. From the word on the wind, he has heard a great amount of the power of the Flygon, and even the fact that Electric Types all over the world feared it. The Flygon was surprisingly kind, and the two Pokemon soon became friends. From the Flygon, Hawlucha learned a great deal about the art of manipulating the earth, and even drawing power from it as required. Soon, Hawlucha grew adept at manipulating Ground Type energy, and even managed to devise a move that the Flygon had never heard of or seen before. From that point, Hawlucha no longer had to fear Electric Types as much. Upon making his decision to join the squad, he was saddened to have to leave the Flygon behind, but the latter knew that they would meet again one day.
Signature Move: "Ring Trapper" [GROUND] The user glows a bright brown, and releases a wave of solid Ground Type energy upon the target. The target takes a solid amount of Ground Type damage, and is rendered unable to switch as long as the user is in battle. While developing this move, the user forgot how to use Endeavor, Toxic and Roost.

Level 1 Female Dratini

Level 1:

Amaura (Female)
Amaura (Rock/Ice): Amaura's body is extremely frigid. Using a move, Amaura can chill their body, making any physical attacks listed as XX Ice-typed for the duration of the battle. Using 10% more energy, they can also increase the chance of their Ice-typed moves freezing their target by 5%. Any Pokémon coming in contact with them will be chilled similarly to Icy Wind.
No sig.

Fleetwood the Sentret (Male)
Sentret (Normal): Sentret, when not moving, will stand on their tails if possible, which gives them a better view of their surroundings. This also reduces the damage they take from Earthquake and similar moves, as well as reducing the damage they take from electric attacks a bit (as the electricity goes through their tail to the ground). Their hearing is more sensitive than normal at the expense of being more vulnerable to sound-based status moves and they have an excellent sense of smell which allows them to track opponents and tell the real clone in a Double Team.
No sig.

Nehima the Abra (Female)
Abra (Psychic): Abra sleep most of their life. Therefore, they are more resistant (but not completely immune) to sleep-inducing attacks and have a 75% chance of successfully attacking with the move Sleep Talk. Abra can see in the dark. Teleporting also requires slightly less energy.

Tyrell the Venonat (Male)
Venonat (Bug/Poison): Venonat have a sort of radar vision, which allows them to see almost completely around themselves. Venonat are considered to be familiar with psychic abilities, and can use Psychic to lift Pokémon. Venonat can see in the dark.
No sig.

May the Deerling (Female)
Deerling: (Normal/Grass) Deerling’s appearance changes with the seasons, its body changing to Pink in the Spring, Green in the Summer, Orange in the Autumn, and Brown in the Winter (this form can be determined by the user, but some environments that are clearly “wintery” or “summery” may trigger this change).
Signature Move: Spring Bloom (Grass)
In a similar fashion to stockpile, May stores away an amount of energy (up to a surfs worth), except in the arena rather than in herself. When the next friendly pokemon that is not at full energy is sent out, they gain this energy (in a similar fashion to how healing wish works, except with energy rather than health and May is not required to have fainted). One use only.

Nero the Growlithe (Male)
Growlithe (Fire): Arcanines and Growlithes are extremely loyal and brave. They are more likely to follow orders of their trainers, even if they consider such orders questionable. They are also more resistant to fear-inducing effects. Finally, their hearing is more sensitive than normal, at the expense of being more vulnerable to sound attacks.
No sig.

Tyrell, take centre stage.

I choose Hawlucha! Start off with Round to keep 'em at bay, then intercept with Aerial Ace! If they try to switch out, Ring Trapper to replace either move.

Round 1: Paralyzer

Both battlers meet each other on the battlefield, getting ready to fight to see which one of them is truly the better of the two. Taking out a Pokeball from his belt, Concept throws out his first Pokemon, the Pokeball opening up to release a purple bug with a pretty snazzy set of eyes. This is Tyrell, a Venonat, and one of the Pokemon I actually have a plan for *huggles future Perfectly Ultimate Venomoth* In response to this, DLADV sends out his Pokeball, it opening up to reveal a Hawlucha by the name of...well it has no name oddly enough. I'll call it Dunker for this match.

Quote:
Venonat (Bug/Poison): Venonat have a sort of radar vision, which allows them to see almost completely around themselves. :V
[Bug]: Bug-types can see in the dark. Most live in warm climates, though they hate fire and dislike extreme cold. Their status inducing attacks have a slight boost to their chance of inflicting statuses and the resulting statuses are slightly more potent than usual.
[Poison]: Poison-type Pokémon are highly resistant to poisoning. Their Poison-type attacks are slightly more likely to succeed in poisoning their targets than those used by other Pokémon and the effects will be slightly more potent. They also have an additional 5% chance to poison the target when using physical attacks with their most venomous appendages e.g. a Seviper's tail, a Nidoking's horn.

Hawlucha (Flying/Fighting): Though not extremely fast or proficient fliers, Hawlucha are extremely adept at aerial movement. Although they can maintain some level of flight, they prefer jumping and gliding, and can move extremely fast when launching from the ground. When executing physical moves, they can also more easily maneuver to evade counter-attacks or position themselves in an optimal place.
[Flying]: Flying-type Pokémon are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation than other Pokémon. Because of their skill in controlling their movement, they are more difficult to evade when using physical moves and more likely to succeed in dodging attacks. Flying type Pokémon are affected normally by the damaging effects of Ground-typed energy and take neutral damage from Ground type moves in the ASB. They fight more enthusiastically in spacious arenas but are not put off by cramped conditions.[Fighting]: Fighting-type Pokémon train extensively, more than any other Pokémon type, which gives them greater endurance and readiness than other Pokémon and allows them to push themselves harder for longer. They are more accurate with their physical blows and are more adept at blocking and countering the physical strikes of attackers. They fight more enthusiastically in urban environments but are not adversely affected by more natural surroundings.
To start the match off: some music. Well what, you weren't expecting me to bring out the big guns at the first round of the match were you? :p

With his readiness and initiative this round, Dunker is the first one to first off to go into the offensive, and he begins to sing a Round of song for everyone nearby to hear. Well, that everyone being all of four entities, and i must say, he should probably keep to "pro" wrestling because my God his singing voice is just awful, and I mean who sings and rainbows come out of their mouth? Oh, well that actually appears to be part of the move. My bad. The cone of multicolored energy spreads out from the Hawlucha and strikes Tyrell, causing the Venonat to shriek shrilly as the energy deals some damage to him. But the attack isn't too powerful and so Tyrell easily comes back from the attack, and is looking for some revenge. Concentrating on his Psychic abilities, his body begins to glow a light blue color as he closes his eyes, making sure that he can reach the true harmonic potential that his body is capable of delivering. When his eyes open again, they are shining brightly from the energy within, and a wave of Psychic energy shoots out of his body, quickly racing between the two Pokemon to meet its target. It picks up a small bit of grit from the ground but nothing major, and the wave of energy slams into the Hawlucha, causing it to flip backwards and land back on the ground hard, groaning from the powerful hit as it slowly gets back up.

Dunker waits for his opponent to go first, since in order to intercept something, he need his opponent to attack first. Tyrell is more than happy to oblige to this, and shakes his fur rapidly, causing the hidden Spores within to launch out, a fine yellow cloud of spores moving between him and Dunker. Dunker leaps forwards, covered in energy as he tries to zoom to his target, making himself look like an Aerial Ace but he ends up flying into the cloud of spores, and starts to drop as the spores enter his system and starts to Stun his muscles, making them lock up. Despite this however, he still has a bit of momentum going from his attack, and he crashes into Tyrell, causing the bug to hiss a bit from the attack but not doing as much damage as the attack normally would.

Condition:
Tyrell has a bit of a health lead, although is nothing great. Energy use was highest from Tyrell but at this point, both are equally fresh. Tyrell is at half on Psychic energy and Dunker is pretty paralyzed.

Concept?

Tempted as I am to telekinetically drop a paralysed pokemon in the pool, it would be a waste of my psychic energy. Let's borrow aerial ace with Mimic. Sludge Bomb should he recover sufficiently from his paralysis to attack.

Keep an eye on Venonat, when he approaches for the Aerial Ace, Acrobatics to dodge and strike, follow up with a LT Agility to clear out your paralysis.

Round 2: All aboard the Reading Rainbow

Tyrell sees that he is in a completely superior position at this point, and figures that he might just want the attack his opponent just used, as it seems like it might just be some typespammy typespam on his opponent and could possibly dodge stuff. He does a little jib, trying to Mimic the actions that he saw his opponent do before he initiated the attack, and is pretty successful at learning the attack of the opponent. Of course, Mimic doesn't actually perform the attack it mimics, as seen here:

Quote:
Mimic (NO) -- The user copies the technique that the target last used (barring signature moves), and now has the ability to use that attack for the rest of the battle, though not always at normal power, if at all. If the attack is, say, a water technique, and the Mimicer is a fire type, it won´t work. This technique does not perform the attack itself, the additional order must be given for the attack to be used. After the battle, the user forgets the attack.
So generally it seems you need a degree in reading to make good orders. Anyways, Dunker is looking for the Aerial Ace that he was supposed to react to, but it never comes, since Mimic, as we've just pointed out, doesn't actually use the move. So both Pokemon sit there for a bit waiting for something that won't come. Dunker is waiting for an Aerial Ace, and Tyrell is waiting for his Pokemon to loosen his agility. This is where Kush would have pronounced both of you (or maybe just DLADV) stupid and ended the round, but I see no good reason why Dunker wouldn't try to not be paralyzed. He pumps energy into his muscles, loosening them up to make sure that his body is no longer stunned, to get some Agility back into his system, to gets everything running at 100% again. Unfortunately, Tyrell sees this and registers this as "his opponent trying to clear paralysis." Tyrell decides that he is going to help him with that. By using pain. Tyrell creates a ball of Sludge in front of his mouth, this ball of sludge being filled with an explosive mix of chemicals. Now I'm not sure what keeps this Bomb from prematurely exploding, but my guess is Tyrell is an awesome guy and he just doesn't have that problem. He shoots the bomb into the air, where it splits apart into many smaller bombs because I have tunnel vision regarding this move and only see its in-game animation, and the bombs harden while in the air before smashing along the ground, causing them to explode around Dunker, doing a nice chunk of damage to him. It seems that the toxins were exceptionally good at pulling the bullshit out of the RNG, as Dunker seems to be poisoned from that attack, and this poison is going to be a bit more potent than usual thanks to those SC boosts. At the end of the round the poison kicks in, doing less damage due the short period of effect.

Condition:
Dunker has taken a lot of damage this round, now at the end of the first third. Energy use was alright from both Pokemon, so they likely won't need a break after next round. Hawlucha is now poisoned.

DLADV, you're up

Remind me again why I chose Hawlucha instead of oh, Torchic?

Keep your distance and trap your foe in a Rock Tomb to give time to think. Then make it fall with Rock Slide. If they somehow your Rock Tomb fails for whatever reason, replace Rock Slide with Stone Edge while keeping a safe distance.

Round 3: I don't know what to title this round.

Which of course is one of the best cop-out round titles in the book. Anyways, with the last round being quite poor for our friend over here, Dunker, he decides that following Concept's Guidelines to Good Battling (Now available a Pokemart near you!) is a good idea, because clearly Concept isn't more rusted than the Tin Man without his oil can. Anyways, he strikes the ground, looking to raise rocks around his opponent, but his opponent has other plans for this. He charges forwards, covered in energy in a very similar manner to his opponent the last time his opponent used this attack, looking to bridge as much distance between them as possible. The Rock Tomb ends up coming down...and it encloses both Pokemon inside of it, albeit its a very tight fit for the both of them. Dunker cries out from the Aerial Ace slamming into him, which pushes him against the walls of the rock tomb to no avail, and he recovers quickly enough, considering that he has to since his opponent is like an inch away from his face. In this situation, he really isn't sure what he wants to do: making the Rock Tomb fall will also bury him in rubble, which is not something he really wants to deal with. But he finds out something more stressing: he really can't get in a position in which he can effectively collapse the tomb on both of them anyways. This brief moment of indecision followed by some awkward positioning from Dunker means that Tyrell begins to emit a shrill sound from its mouth. Now, its muffled from the outside because of the Rock Tomb, but inside...I don't really want to know what it must be like inside of the tomb with the walls amplifying the sound. All I know is according to my radar, taking a point-blank Supersonic made Hawlucha see fucking rainbows.

Condition:
Hawlucha took another strong hit, now hovering slightly above half. Energy use was small, with a good amount of Rock still in the tanks. Venonat used a bit of energy but is fine for two next round. He still is able to use another Aerial Ace.

Try to get over your confusion, when you do, attack with Acrobatics while dodging the Venoshock. Then follow up with Sky Attack.

Round 4: The easiest round to ref.

So Concept wants his Venonat to toddle off behind the nearest rock. Okay, that's cool, arena abuse and all that. But there is a problem here. If one would look back to my previous reffing, the Rock Tomb never came down, hence why Hawlucha was blasted point blank by the Supersonic. Dunker is a bit too confused to even think straight and so doesn't attack.

Now I can pull a Kush and call you both stupid. :PPPPPPPP

Condition: Poison damage pushes Hawlucha under the half mark. No energy use on either side. I am bored.

Yeah I didn't actually read your reffing properly and had assumed I'd evaded the rising tomb with aerial ace. My bad!

Take a hit from Venonat and unleash the most powerful Sky Attack you can, then retreat with Baton Pass, switch into Dratini.

You have to specify who you're switching to with BP.

How much room do we have in this tomb? Considering Hawlucha is actually to my surprise smaller than Venonat (lolwut gamefreak).

It's really pretty tight. A significant amount of force (such as say a Psychic wave), would probably cause the other to pop out of the tomb.

Round 5: Request to switch: Denied

With both of them in the tomb, it getting pretty tight, and neither of them showing any inclination to homosexuality, Tyrell has finally had enough of this and concentrates his psychic energy in order to make some space for him to stretch. His body begins to glow in a light blue aura as his body reaches harmonic perfection, looking to maximize all gains and minimize all losses. The energy welling up inside of him, Tyrell opens his eyes, which have donned a bright blue gleam to them, a wave of force appearing in front of him and slamming into his opponent. Well, I say slammed into him, but its more like it phased into him and sent him flying back like scoring the sweet spot of Luigi's Up+B. Hawlucha slams into the tomb, causing the back stone to fall over and for him to spill out of it. The confusion is cleared out of him but he took a massive hit in doing so, now backing up a bit as Tyrell also walks out of tomb, getting a couple of feet of distance between the two of them. Dunker gets ready to score a dunk on his opponent and his body begins to glow a bright white color as he builds up a tremendous amount of energy. I've also now figured out my Hawlucha sig: A meteor smash that sends opponents slamming into the ground, ala Smack Down style. Thanks you guys~ Meanwhile, Hawlucha jumps into the air before zooming forwards at Tyrell, looking to score a large hit. Tyrell tries to get out of the way, zigging to the side, but this only serves to be useless, the Hawlucha easily changing course by the slight degree and slamming into him, sending Tyrell flying back, narrowly missing the tomb and landing a bit backwards from it. Tyrell gets back up, hissing in pain, ready for revenge.

Having been the first one to move, its Tyrell who gets the jump on his opponent now, especially after using that high energy attack. He shakes his fur, this time in a completely different and arbitrary manner, causing another cloud of powders to come out of his body. This one, however, is tinted green and kinda smells like Gr's stash of chloroform, and Hawlucha ends up breathing this in, swaying groggily before falling down on the ground, taking a delightful snooze. He obviously does not Baton Pass.

Condition:
Tyrell took a strong his this round from the Sky Attack, now between the first third and the halfpoint. Hawlucha is pretty smashed after his damage, now into the final third. Energy use was a bit high from Tyrell, but he's still fresh because of the no-mover last round. Hawlucha is asleep.

Tootle on around to the side so you're safely away from any snores. The initiate plan Morning Sun. Let's sit back and let poison do its work.
