Were you expecting a Pikaclone to be useful?

Most Pikaclones have the movepool to suit their concept, they just don't have good enough stats to execute that concept well enough.
But Dedenne? They're a special sweeper and their only Fairy STAB is physical. Wat. |

Ampharos is best Pika clone. It's even better than the original!
Well so is Emolga.

So my friend and I were battling, he of course pulls a team of Blaziken/Mewtwo/Zygarde/Blastoise/Chesnaught/Yvetal on me, and my team was Delphox/Dedenne/Aurorus/Protean!Greninja/Venusaur/Noivern, and he has a severely weakened Zygarde cause sash and Aurorus, and a Yvetal, and I kill Zygarde, send out Dedenne to be a death fodder against Yvetal, and it fucking walls the thing like a boss. I just go Nuzzle->Parabolic Charge/T-Bolt, and easily take it down.
Great typing, just poor movepool. But needless to say, I won with Noivern and Dedenne surviving. Delphox took down Blaziken cause it outspeeds, Aurorus took on Zygarde and nearly killed Blastoise, Venusaur took on Blastoise but was quickly finished by Mewtwo, who then also dealt with Delphox. Greninja takes down Mewtwo, nearly takes down Chesnaught but falls to ES Zygarde, and the rest is history. |

Not all Pokemon are exactly designed to function as you would expect them to.

Moxie Pyroar is one of the funniest things to happen since Defiant Thundurus and Limber Stunfisk.

True that, blaze came up with a rather witty set using it.

It is a pity Flareon is so slow, preventing it from becoming a sweeper, and recoil prevents it from being a tank.
Flare Blitz has been very welcome for Flareon, but there still remain Pokemon that now outclass it. Talonflame, for example, is probably better, due to Gale Wings, which is an astonishingly good Ability. It is hindered by a huge weakness to Stealth Rock, but Volcarona also remained Overused despite Stealth Rock, after all. In fact, Volcarona may actually fall due to Talonflame. |

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
please, i can't, please If OU can keep shit like Jolteon when they have Rotom-W, they will keep Volcarona. It's about 100 times more versatile than Talonflame. Oh, and if Talonflame doesn't run LO, Volcarona wins 1 on 1.

Well, I think Volcarona will stay in OU, and I think Talonflame will also be OU despite the Stealth Rock weakness. It's just too freaking useful and priority roost can undo any SR damage if you can force a switch.
And that said, Flareon will never be in the same tier as those 2, it was NU and will probably stay there. So I don't think Flareon will have much to fear from Talonflame in regard of outclassing it within it's tier.

Lots of things also hit harder than Talonflame. That isn't to say that Talinflame is weak, but dedicated walls can easily stop it.

Besides, Talonflame has partners. Starmie and Excadrill are both very good for dealing with Talonflame's checks, especially the latter, which can even deal with Rotom-W due to Mold Breaker, provided it switches in safely and Rotom-W does not have a Choice Scarf. With so many new powerhouses this generation, Rotom-W's typing is pretty much the only thing it has going for it, besides fairly bulky Volt Switching. Talonflame is also an excellent partner for Mega Kangaskhan, who dislikes faster Fighting Types, which Talonflame can easily counter. Furthermore, Mega Kangaskhan easily sets up on most Rock Types with Power-Up Punch. Quote:
Talonflame is incredibly popular. The tiers are highly influenced by usage, and Talonflame's presence shall most definitely be another threat to Volcarona. You say Volcarona beats Talonflame one on one if it lacks Life Orb? Think again. 252 Attack EVs Talonflame's Brave Bird with Leftovers Vs. 252 HP EVs / 252 Defense EVs Volcarona = OHKO. And since Talonflame has no reason to not run maximum Attack EVs, Talonflame shall always beat Volcarona. Volcarona's fall is not about being outclassed by Talonflame. It is about the fact that Talonflame is so popular that Volcarona can no longer remain anywhere as viable due to Talonflame's offensive presence. 252 Atk Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Volcarona: 270-318 (72.1 - 85%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Volcarona Hidden Power Rock vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Talonflame: 304-360 (102.3 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO Next time actually do the calcs, mkay?

Cool, means my Talonflame will score a OHKO against Volcarona, which I know already but okay :P
252+ Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Volcarona: 385-455 (102.9 - 121.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO But yeah, Talon needs to run an offensive item and adamant to have a guaranteed OKHO on Bulk Volca. Here, see what LO Jolly nature does: 252 Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Volcarona: 351-413 (93.8 - 110.4%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

Jolly lets you outspeed Modest jolteon. Which are somewhat common.

Besides, with a Pokemon such as Talonflame, Jolly is a waste. If someone does have Jolly and maximum Speed, they shall most likely run an offensive item, leading to having over a 60% chance to OHKO Volcarona. They shall only run Leftovers or something if they use Adamant, as then they can invest more EVs to make Talonflame a little bulkier. At least that is what a person in their right mind would do. Besides, I doubt Bulky Volcarona is common enough to make Volcarona stand any chance. Quote:
If not, where is the special Pokemon damage calculator? |
