Beginner Trainer Battle: lilbluecorsola vs. blazeVA

The Deserted Fairground was having more visitors for trainer battles than its lively counterpart. It was more alive than it had been in years. The broken lights were flickering with dull glows that cast shadows upon the barren streets. The rides had come to life, not with as much vigour as the years gone by but they shook and moved all the same. Smells of hot food wafted through the air, sickly sweet smells that weren't all too appetising. Two trainers walked through the stalls and rides quickly not liking the eerie feeling follow them to their destination. They meet up and exchange brief greetings before they notice their referee approaching dressed all in black

"Good Evening to both of you and thank you for choosing this wonderful arena to battle in. The spirits are very much pleased and thrilled to meet you and your Pokemon. Please feel free to put on a bloody good show for them."

Arena: Fizzytopia's Deserted Fairground: Not to be outdone, the old Fairground seems to have spawned its -own- arena, eager to draw potential battlers in the mood for a darker scene. This 50m x 50m arena is made of a ghostly cold steel, surrounded by a tall, chain-link fence covered in barbed wire. However, the lure of violence and battle can draw some of the more malevolent spirits within the Deserted Fairground...

She allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned lilblucorsola to Heads and blazeVA to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Heads".
Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play:

– I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)
- I will then ref the first round.
- lilbluecorsola will then order their attacks for the next round.
- blazeVA then orders their attacks.
- I ref the round, and the next round attack orders switch and so on and so forth till we have a winner!

Jess blinked as she checked the beacon on her Vs. Seeker again. No doubt, it was leading her in the direction not of fun, food, and games, but instead its darker twin. A place of recent (painful) memory. She took out the sheet of paper on which she wrote the specifications for the battle, and paled upon realizing her mistake. Instead of writing the "New" Fairground, she had put down "Deserted". Had some spirit compelled her hand? Her thoughts flashed back to her most recent combat experience, seeing Kristen's eyes scream red... Couldn't be.

She stuffed the scrap back in her pocket and sighed as she turned to the tiny creature beside her, a cheerful chinchilla. It seemed a shame to bring the newest member of her team to such a frightening place for their first fight, but there was no going back now. She quickly explained the situation to Minchi, who looked disappointed at the broken promise of ice cream afterwards (she had been looking forward to the prospect more than the battle itself), but perked up considerably when her trainer suddenly offered a small present to make up for it. Pulling out a yellow flower, Jess pinned it proudly to Minchi's ear. She had been saving the purchase specifically for the Minccino's debut, and wasn't about to let a little setting setback stop them from showing the world who's the cutest Pokémon of all. A true star could shine anywhere.

Together, the two walked to the stage, where their rivals and assumed audience awaited. Jess happily shook hands with Blaze, a boy she had recently met and befriended, wishing him and his Buneary good luck. Then both teams took their sides, and while Minchi shivered from the surroundings of steel and silence, she stood tall and cast a brilliant beam into the shadows. Even if the crowd were composed completely of spirits, no sense not to deprive them of a stylish display. The girl smiled. Amongst the cold and colorless grey, the single spot of gold gleamed even brighter than before. (Though as she surveyed the silver, Jess realized belatedly there was no sand of which to speak. Unfortunately, there went some of her plans. No matter though, they would win with sheer FABULOUSNESS.)

"All right, Minchi, let's start things off with a double dose of GUNK SHOT!"

The ref had stated the ghosts expected a good performance... The two would surely give them one.

Alright, let's get ready Lemon Drop. We are going to win this with passion, rainbows, and much typespam.

Lemon Drop: Alright, let us get a good battle started!

Start of by Pounding that Mincinno in the face, then, give him/her a Sky Uppercut!

Well, it appears as though there had been in error in the arena selection made by the two competitors but either way they would have to battle now amongst the spirits. Both trainer's took their place and decided that they would make the most of this experience non-the-less. They reveal their Pokemon, a Minccino called Mint Mocha Chip or Michi for short. For blaze it was his trusty Buneary called Lemon Drop, she was no stranger to Pokemon battles. They both look a little worried at the spooky surroundings but settle their gazes on each other finding comfort in the sight of something solid. The referee waves her hand and a scream pierces the air and the battle had now begun.

Lemon Drop is the faster of the two and she bounces towards Michi and smacks her around the face with a hard Pound. Minchi winces but shakes off the back and backs off enough to get her first attack in. She breathes in deep and releases a black sack of energy towards Lemon Drop. The Gunk Shot explodes on her skin making her shriek in pain and try to shake off the remnants of trash from her fur. With her fur clean again Lemon Drop pulls her fist back a faint blue glow surrounding it. She bounces towards Michi and delivers the Sky Uppercut under her chin sending her up into the air only to land back down with a hard thud.

Minchi has tears in her eyes and an ugly bruise forming under her chin but she slowly gets back to her feet. She takes a few steadying breathes and prepares another attack sending another Gunk Shot towards Lemon Drop who gets blasted back covered in trash once again. Unfortunately that seems to be all of Minchi's poison energies spent in one round!

Howling fills the air as the spirits rejoice in the brutality of the first round.

Jessica tsked as Minchi depleted her Poison reserves, unfortunately without accomplishing the main purpose. Still, they had managed to make a decent dent in the opponent's health, to which the spirits oohed and aahed with delight. Despite lacking breath from both fatigue and the stench, Minchi smiled and straightened for the onlookers, ready to take the stage again. She glared at her rival, unwilling to forgive the bruise that blighted her beauty.

Jessica's eyes fell upon the trash still littering the arena, and an idea occurred to her. Perhaps they weren't out of venom after all. Minchi sensed her trainer's intent and paled. As much as her instincts compelled her to clean, she did not wish to sully her own fur, especially her precious paws. That stuff looked nasty, like it could cause sickness upon skin contact. (She refused to acknowledge that it had once been inside her.) In that case...

"If they want to play rough, then let's get really down and dirty. Coat your TAIL with IRON for protection and use it to MUD-SLAP some of that gunk at her again. Keep up the momentum if you can to strike her with steel!"

Blaze was worried about the Mincinno, but, knew that he was going to have to think fast in order to win this battle. Very carefully.

Freeze the Gunk on the floor with an Ice Beam, and try to hit Minchi with it too. Then, another Sky Uppercut.

Both Pokemon were revealing their hands so early on into the battle unleashing their most poweful moves to show the other they meant business. Minchi had felt the drain from her poison moves but had laid the pressure on Lemon Drop who was suffering a little more pain. Michi now coats her tail in Steel and approaches some of the left over gunk on the steel floor. Before she can utilise it Lemon Drop freezes it with an Ice Beam making Minchi blink but she smacks the ice hard with her Iron Tail/Mud Slap combo sending chunks of poisonous ice at Lemon who continues her Ice Beam up to strike Michin in the chest. Michi is unable to follow up with her Iron Tail to strike Lemon Drop but the ice chunks hit the bunny making her back up rubbing her skin in pain.

Lemon finally settles on a more conventional move to finish the round off with and bounces towards Michi and striking her under the chin with her Sky Uppercut sending her flying and landing back down with a thud.

There is a round of applause from the ghost surrounding the arena, they appear to be impressed with the show of moves and carnage.

Blaze looked at Lemon Drop, who had complete control of the battle since Round 1. She looked happy to be facing a strong foe, but Blaze was concerned with her lack of Fighting energy. "Don't worry, Lemon Drop, I have a contingency plan for things like this. I need you to ICE BEAM Minchi's legs to the ground so that he cannot move. Then, use a DEFENSE CURL to raise your defense!"

Jessica disappointed when she saw their trump card solidify, but at least it made for easier cleaning as Minchi lifted the chunks of ice toward Lemon Drop. In fact, giving the projectiles frozen from may have helped sharpen the pain, plus they still hopefully contained traces of poison. …Unfortunately, the surface toxins seemed muted too much to affect the rabbit again. Jess sighed, agreeing to give up on that avenue.

For now, the more pressing concern was Minchi’s rapidly decreasing health. Lemon Drop had landed another nasty blow, doubling the bruise on the poor chinchilla’s chin. At least it looked like that last maneuver had tuckered the Buneary out enough that she couldn’t perform it again. As the spirits cheered, Minchi managed a sickly smile, hoping to take more credit for their appreciation.

As Jess listened intently to her opponent’s orders, she grimaced again. That freeze ray was proving to be a dangerous weapon, and unfortunately she had no means to heat things up. She could only hope Minchi could withstand the chill.

“Take the ICE BEAM for now, and try to TAUNT her so she can’t use DEFENSE CURL. If we can’t fight with literal fire, we’ll have to make her hot-headed another way. Call her a coward, tell her she missed a spot, say her mom must have been an Abomasnow, whatever works.” Jess shrugged, knowing Minchi could probably come up with cleverer insults than that. If there was one thing the Minccino was good at, it was being sassy. “Then hopefully smash the ice with BRICK BREAK, and if you succeed use BRICK BREAK again on her.”

Lemon Drop had managed to take the lead so early on this match with her array of fighting techniques but she was out of juice so would have to resort to other tactics to win now. Jess was still hopeful that Minchi would pull through this and show them all she was not an easy target; but for now she had no plans to dodge. Lemon taps into her ice energies once again and lets loose another Ice Beam towards Michi's feet freeing them and half of her lower body to the ground. Minchi manages to keep a brave face against the pain of the ice encompassing her body and begins to Taunt the Buneary telling her how weak her attacks were and how she was a coward to try and boost her defences and not finish her right now; but with chattering teeth her Taunt lacked conviction and Lemon Drop rolls her eyes not believing a word she said.

Lemon Curls up Defensively as Minchi works on getting free of her icy prison. She chops down on her lower body with a Brick Break successfully freeing her legs. She wriggles her toes trying to get feeling back into them before dashing towards Lemon Drop and smacking her with another Brick Break dealing reduced damage but super effective damage all the same.

Jessica paled as the Minchi's attempt at provoking Lemon Drop failed. The snow had simply stolen too much of her sass. While she managed to break free and land a blow on the bunny’s back, Lemon Drop’s balled up position unfortunately prevented too much damage. An idea suddenly flashed across Jessica’s mind and she berated herself for not thinking of it earlier: Why not take advantage of the rabbit’s roundness to simply roll her around in the frozen gunk until it stuck? Instead she had wasted precious time and energy to try and land a physical blow when the opponent was clearly prepared for it. The difference in damage had caused the girl to panic and go on the offensive, a mistake that had cost her dearly. Now Minchi’s health had dipped even lower, and Lemon Drop was still sitting pretty. Jess gulped. Things were not looking good. The spirits had been silent too, so she could only assume they had lost the favor of their audience as well.

Jess sighed, and stared sadly at her poor Pokémon, who was panting heavily. Her body was battered and bruised, the fur of her lower half further darkened from the first signs of forming frostbite. Even her flower was drooping. Perhaps this type of contest wasn’t suited to her skills after all. She wasn’t the star here on this stage. …Even so, if she were going down, she would at least strive to put on a good show beforehand.

“All right, if it’s pain they want, we’ll give it to them. BRICK BREAK as many times as you can! If you run out of fighting spirit, just keep POUNDing on her!”

OoC – Gosh, that last part sounds wrong. *shot*

Blaze looked at Lemon Drop, and gave a large sigh, She performed well so way of this battle, but the battle was not yet over for her. Minchi was still around, and Blaze needed to finish him off...

"We shall go down in a BLAZE OF GLORY! TRIPLE POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!"

Minchi was struggling to come out of top here after taking an Ice Beam head on but she had made the Buneary expend all her Ice Energies in the process. She had managed to get her own super effective hit on the bunny but she still had only half the health left by comparison but with fighting energy still left in the tank would she come out on top? Lemon Drop wasn't too fussed about being left with her basic moves, she could still take out the chinchilla with her bare paws.

Minchi starts by charging towards Lemon Drop as she comes out of her Defence Curl and whacking her hard with her Brick Break making the bunny cry out in pain. Minchi felt her remaining fighting energy go into her attack so she was down to her fists too! Lemon looked bad after that one shot, had the tables been turned so soon? She sucks in air and Pounds Michi across the face in retaliation. Both Pokemon stare each other down and almost as if time had slowed down both leap towards each other and it becomes a Poundfest! Minchi sinks her fist into Lemon's abdomen making spittle fly from her mouth then Lemon Drop throws a paw into Minchi's face making her head fly back slowly and almost comically. Both finish with their final Pounds throwing each other back from one another on the cold hard floor and amazingly both are still going, but just barely.

The spirits cackle at the scene before applauding, both funny and brutal just what they liked.

It was down to this, the final stretch ... be it a minuscule stretch with both Pokemon about to collapse. blaze was getting excited now as he yelled at Lemon Drop his orders and Jess was hoping that if bad luck hit her before it would do so again. She had lost so many battles recently, it was her time to win now ... she wasn't bitter ... much.

Both Pokemon stare each other down before diving in their fists outstretched and Pounding each other. Both stumble back but its Minchi who collapses to the ground KO'd, oh dear it was not their lucky month.

"Minchino is unable to battle, Buneary is the winner."

Jessica sighed as she propped up her poor Pokémon, who put on a prominent pout upon seeing her opponent still standing. More than that, she missed the spirits' applause, if there was any. The girl patted the chinchilla on the back, soothing Minchi's wounded pride. Perhaps combat wasn't her forte after all. She would surely feel much more comfortable on a proper stage (hopefully one would be provided soon).

"C'mon, girl, I'll treat you to some ice cream back at Base. You definitely deserve some, you did well."

Minchi, who looked like she was about to cry, immediately brightened and hugged her trainer. ...Although before leaving the arena, she spun around and stuck her tongue out sorely at Lemon Drop. She then ignored the rabbit's reaction to blow kisses to the invisible crowd. Jess rolled her eyes and quickly apologized to Blaze for her little princess's immaturity. When she got home she'd be sure to teach Minchi some manners.

I definitely made that round more complicated than it needed to be. x.X Didn't think I'd be able to squeeze a dodge in if I wanted to do optimal damage, but in the end that strategy turned out to be counter-productive. ^^; Should've just dodged and rolled (Lemon Drop through the muck). *shakes fist* I'll make sure that bunny's POISONed next time. XP
