She slashes the air and another Air Slash forms in the air, headed for Gaius. He takes the attack, and it seems like it wasn't a huge blow as Gaius prepares almost immediately, filling his claw with more steel energy, and punching towards Leavanny with Bullet Punch. She tries to dodge the attack but it is too fast for her to dodge completely as she is hit in her side, her trainer grunts as he sees his partner get hit by the attack, "Hang in there Leavanny!". She holds her side as she looks at Gaius, and it almost seems like she glides through the field as she gets near him and hits him with Aerial Ace, and it is again not as effective but still takes a bit of health away. Gaius starts to concentrates as he raises his accuracy and attack with Focus Energy after the Aerial Ace while the Leavanny looks on suspiciously, as if waiting for Gaius to attack. "Leavanny, lower his speed by tangling him up with a String Shot! Then Slash him right in the face and finish by blinding him with Flash! You can do it!"

What will you do?

Caesar smirked happily seeing his Scizor perform so well. The slight defeat he felt before vanished as a sense of confidence poured into him as he shot his arm forward and called out his next set of orders, "Dodge around the String Shot with another Quick Attack, then slam him in his face with a Bullet Punch! Close your eyes and use Focus Energy to finish and avoid being blinded by Flash.

Blazer Growls as loudly as possible after the attack, effecting everyone on the field except Ponyta, lowering both Nidoran's attack power by intimidating them. The Nidoran backs down a little before Leering at Blazer, which fails until they make eye contact, sending a paralyzing jolt through Blazer's body, lowering his defense slightly. This makes Blazer concentrate on his next attack from a distance, creating blue flames and sending them towards the Nidoran with Will-o-Wisp. The flames touch the Nidoran and it squeaks in pain, while the attack doesn't damage it, it creates a burning sensation throughout its body. Looking slightly agitated by the attack, it sends a pawful of sand towards Blazer's face, some of it even entering its beak. Blazer tries to spit out the dirt from the Mud-Slap, but it seems to have taken great effect on the chick as his accuracy is lowered with some of the dirt going into his eyes and lowering his health slightly. The Nidoran looks on, quite happy, before Blazer sends a Flamethrower attack towards the Nidoran, who manages to evade the full blast of the attack by moving out of the way, but not quick enough as its paw is hit by the flames. The Nidoran yelps as the burn effect activates, taking health away as it disappears, but it doesn't look like it will give up anytime soon...

"This is nuts! I thought it would be a hit!" Complained by Blazer due to the attack failure. While Blazer screams with anger, Nagasaki thinks of a new strategy to knock down both Nidorans in a quick manner, and he devised his master plan in a flash. With that plan on his mind, he sought assistance from the Pokemon Ranger named Anne, and his trusty companion, Blazer."Anne, Blazer, I need your help. I have thought of a plan that can devastate both of them. Blazer, perform two Swords Dances, then when the ceremony is complete, Incinerate both of them. Anne, can you command your Ponyta to protect Blazer in order to complete the double dance? You can also try to damage them as well." Nagasaki glanced at his partner, hoping that she will agree to do his devised plan for full effectivity...

Tyoyo3131:
There is little that you can see ahead in these barren lands, but what you can see is not that impressive. You only see the remains of what you suspect was once a beautiful place. Although you can tell that this is the way it has been for a while, you can still smell something similar to charcoal. You cover your face as random winds pick up, with ash from the ground being dragged into both Buizel's and your face. There is a sad and deserted feeling around this place as you continue to walk, with rock Pokémon like Geodude rolling around and fighting with Dwebble and Aron. You continue walking until you hear someone to your left, "Ahhhhh! Help!" You can't help but to turn towards where you think the scream came from, and it sounded like a little girl's scream. You quickly head the way of the scream and after a minute you hear her again, "No! Please let go of her!" This time it sounds a lot closer and you look around until Buizel shows you where the trouble is. About 30 feet from you stands little girl, no older than 10 years old, nearly in tears as a Vulpix lays on the floor, probably knocked out, with a Geodude closing in on the girl, as she grabs a rock and throws it at the Geodude, screaming "Get away from me!"

What will you do?

James had been walking for quite some time now- Maxwell, however, retreated to his pokéball because of his own laziness. He wasn't missing out on much though- just seemingly endless charcoal-smelling ground and wind. The only thing of any interest was the rock pokémon- Geodude, Aron, and a few others walked around the deserted land. Eventually, James spotted something of interest- a Dwebble. James pulled out his Buizel's pokéball- and before he could to anything, a scream of "Help!" came from somewhere to his left, scaring the Dwebble away and stealing James' curiosity. He sprinted in the direction where he thought he heard it, finding nothing at first. He looked around, and another scream came. "No! Let go of her!" It didn't sound too far away, so James kept running. He found the source of the scream- a young girl, with an unconscious Vulpix at her feet, and a Geodude attacking her. She probably trespassed on to his territory- not that she could’ve known. At the press of a button, Maxwell was woken abruptly and brought out.

“Sonic Boom that Geodude, then follow it up with Rock Smash. I’ll go help the girl.” James whispered to him. Maxwell sprinted off to the Geodude, while James went around their battle to help the girl.

Sky Gate

Talon87¤Repost of Your Last Update¤

With all the strangeness your senses have been assaulted by today, trust is becoming much more difficult to afford. Who’s to say you can believe any of what you see or hear from medical personnel, the pilot, or even the pamphlet print for that matter. At this point you’re still not entirely convinced your location amongst the clouds is correct. Lack of confidence leads you to crack open the brochure and choose the safest option suggested to you: A world of water, to soothe and reflect. Water must flee from a source. Follow the source, and you will find a solution. Or so you hope. Hope, in itself, springs eternal.

You tuck the leaflet in your bag, confirm your partners’ presence one last time, and make your way towards the door. Outside, you glance for a guide, whether animate or not, to direct you where to go. Soon you spot several signs attached to the sides of the Sky Gate, conducting traffic to whichever destination travelers please. You scan the markers until you come across one that reads “Fountain Garden”, and below it in small print: “No fishing allowed” accompanied by a drawing of a hooked Magikarp with a cross over its center. Scratched beneath the depiction in even slighter lettering is another message: “Violators will be eaten by Gyarados.” Whether by the same hand that penned the previous caution or not, some cheeky but well-meaning miscreant had even bothered to carve a rough representation of a stick figure being attacked by the flying fish dragon. Huh. Guess you’d better heed that warning.

Despite growing concerned that your place of purpose might not be as peaceful as you thought, you press on down the winding mobile to…

The Fountain Garden

(Update continues after the break.)

Talon87 & dosuser – As you walk, a small stream offers to accompany the way, and soon its gentle sounds wash away all secondary thoughts. What began as a babbling baby brook matures into a proud parent pool, sustained by a cascade of natural waterfalls and fountains. At the edge where you stand there is only cool serenity, stillness. You are surrounded by it. Yet, you sense a surge of activity. The water brightens to your approach, laughing and murmuring as its waves lap at your feet like a pet, as if greeting an old friend. Then, turning suddenly shy, the surf runs away. Sparkles run and excite on the surface, teasing you to give chase. You sigh, appreciative of the offer but content to remain where you are. Soon forgetting your quest to seek the source, you sink slowly on the soft sand, relaxing for a minute to rest your feet. The warmth makes you feel welcome.

Lazing, you notice a creature further down the shore, closer to where the water meets soil to form mud. A lil blue body with black curved markings, three in a row pulsing down its belly, and purple spikes protruding from the sides of its head. You watch as the Wooper diligently packs wet earth onto its tail before slapping it onto a rising pile surrounded by pillars, carefully crafting the shapeless mound into what resembles a crude castle. You smile and sit back to quietly oversee the construction, admiring its eye for and dedication to detail. It even troubles to dig a deep trench around the fortress and fill it to the brim with water. As a finishing touch, it finds a piece of driftwood and positions it across the moat, then sticks a few more pebbles here and there as decoration.

Finally it stands back in satisfaction, and you marvel at the masterpiece as well. Clearly Wooper has the potential to become a famed sculptor someday. You consider going down to congratulate and perhaps offer to even promote or purchase its work when suddenly you hear a loud squeal, then a splat, followed by a squelch. You startle, and see Wooper leaping back to avoid being struck by a giant wrecking sphere. Unfortunately, the palace isn’t so lucky to survive, as over half of it is caved by the impact. Wooper wails in dismay and immediately sinks down to try and salvage the remains. Meanwhile, you hear two voices approaching, engaged in argument.

“Jeeze, your stupid Combusken kicked it too far!”

“Not my fault! You threw it too hard! Now where’d it go?”

A boy and a girl come running over the hill, followed by a Marshtomp and Combusken. The boy spots the ball sitting by the shore and, without regard to the desperate pleas of the blue being beside it, stomps all over the rest of the ruined castle in order to pick up his prize.

“Aw man, it’s all covered in mud now.”

“Ew, go wash it off.”

“Whatever, it’s fine. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. Here, heads up!”

With that, he drops the ball and gives it a boot, unaware that Wooper was still below it. You wince as Wooper is sent flying along with the ball, and the girl screams as she catches both in her hands, unable to react otherwise on such short notice.

“Gross, what is this thing?! It’s all slimy!”

She drops Wooper like it’s a hot potato, apparently preferring the mud-soaked ball over it. The poor thing sits up in a daze, only to snap alert as a stone flies by its head, initiated by the boy.

“Shoo! Get lost! Don’t interrupt our game!”

Wooper panics and tries to flee, only to bump into the girl’s legs and mistakenly dive behind them. This causes her bare skin to crawl and another shriek to emerge. The boy chucks another rock towards her feet, just missing the intended target.

“And quit bugging my sister!”

Wooper whimpers as it cowers, and your blood starts to seriously boil. The abuse by these two brats is becoming far too much to bear.

At that moment, you both notice the other bystander staring at the scene from the other side, mirrored masks of fury.

Will you intervene?
Indeed the experience of finding oneself in a land above the clouds had been a bit too much for the young man to handle. Cyrus was sitting near the bank of a pool of water, his thoughts going back over what had just happened. As if in a dream, he had followed that man's advice to come to what was called the Fountain Garden; and, heading out of the Pokémon Center, he had been able to find the sign which pointed the way. Cyrus closed his eyes and tried to remember second for second what had happened between then and now but it was difficult: then, too, his mind had been racing at a million miles a second preoccupied with questions. Where are we? Where is this? Is this real? How do we get home? It hadn't taken long after arriving on the outskirts of the Fountain Garden for Cyrus to find flowing water; and now, after walking upriver for some time, he was taking a break by a somewhat calmer pool.

Celes, his faithful Chikorita, was standing there beside him. She afforded a few furtive glances at her trainer's face, concerned that he was so concerned, but she put on a brave stoic face for now as she looked around the area, her leaf gently rotating, sending out a faint sweet aroma. His mind too preoccupied to notice what was going on, Cyrus was soothed the aroma, just a little, and was able to loosen his body up somewhat. He stretched out his legs, planted his arms behind him, and looked around the pool. On the other side of the shore, he saw a small blue newtlike Pokémon building a "sand castle" from mud. He looked proud of his work and quite pleased. Cyrus smirked. Perhaps somewhere at the back of his mind he recognized: hey, this little guy isn't worried. He isn't acting like he's about to fall through the sky and fall 30,000 feet to his doom. This little one looks like he's at home here. But if the thought went through Cyrus's mind, it must've been deep and subconcious. At the forefront of his mind was only the mild amusement of watching the little one so diligently build a castle out of dirt.

And suddenly the thought was gone, and the castle with it. For suddenly a ball came whizzing out of nowhere and with a great *SPLAT!* the mud sand castle was no more. Had he reacted even two seconds slower the little blue newtlike creature would've been clobbered by the ball. But he must've seen or heard what Cyrus had not for he jumped out of the way just in time. Seeing the soft remains of his mud castle tumble and flatten before him like a soufflé taken from the oven too soon, the Pokémon fell to his knees (?) and started to desperately try and put Humpty Dumpty together again. Suddenly Cyrus could hear voices coming from over the hill. He looked to see whose they were.

A boy and a girl, followed by a large blue salamander-like Pokémon and a large red and yellow chicken: all four came running over the hill, the humans arguing over what appeared to have been their ball, the Pokémon chasing after what Cyrus could only assume to be their masters. “Jeeze," said the boy, "your stupid Combusken kicked it too far!” The girl answered, “Not my fault! You threw it too hard! Now where’d it go?” They looked around for their missing ball and when the boy spotted it he ran over towards the little blue builder and his half-caved-in mud castle and--

Destroyed. Totally demolished. The boy ran right over the mud sand castle, squelching it under foot as he made to retrieve the ball. "Aw man, it's all covered in mud now." "Ew," said the girl, "go wash it off." "Whatever, it's fine. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Here, heads up!" And he dropped the ball from his hands to kick it towards her. Cyrus pushed up off of the grass in a desperate attempt to hurry over but it was too late; as he made to stand up, Chikorita was startled by the rustling noise of the grass and, after looking up at her trainer, looked to see what had startled him. There, right beneath the falling ball, was the little blue Pokémon!

WHAMMO! The boy kicked the ball over to his compatriot and the little blue architect went flying with it. Cyrus and Celes both winced and as they opened their eyes again they heard a high-pitched scream. The girl had caught the hurtling Pokémon in her hands and was panicking over how slimy it was. She dropped it to the ground without a care in the world for its safety. She'd have displayed more love to a used dishtowel, Cyrus felt, than she did to that poor creature just now. But if this wasn't enough to get Cyrus to intervene, what came next surely was.

"Shoo! Get lost!" The boy started to throw stones at the slimy blue Pokémon. Some of them whizzed dangerously close to the little guy's head!

"That does it," Cyrus said. He was ever the pacifist, preferring diplomacy to all-out combat, but this little boy had gone too far. Something had to be done before it was too late. "Celes," he said looking down at his trusty Chikorita, "follow me!" Cyrus jogged around the bank of the pool in the direction of the children and the Pokémon whose castle had been destroyed, dignity had been insulted, and life and been jeopardized. He hoped to get the kids to calm down and hurry back over the hill to play whatever game they were playing. He didn't want a fight, but he knew he had to prevent this Pokémon from being badgered any more than it already had been.

Update 37 (08/21/2012)

Welcome to my group biggggg5! Enjoy your stay in the Cloud Garden!

Sky Gate
biggggg5:
(Please reply in SkyBlue, thanks!) "Hello Big. Welcome to the Sky Gate Pokémon Center! You are looking for guides?" You nod in response as the nurse gets out from behind her station and leads you outside the Center. "Just keep walking that way and you should be on your way, they gather around the circle. I have to warn you though, be very careful who you choose to be your guide. Good luck!" Before you get a chance to ask any more questions about what she just warned you about you see someone and something running towards you. "Stop that thief!" the woman says to you as she points to the Zigzagoon a few feet from you, both looking to be running for their lives, especially the Zigzagoon, growling at you as it stops in front of you and circles around you ready to run as soon as it gets a chance with a piece of paper in its mouth. With the woman still 30 feet away from the Zigzagoon it seems like it is up to you if you want to help her or go to the town circle.

What will you do?

KratosAurion: Look back here.

Stardust Fields
kaisap112: Your Pokémon nod, ready as ever to start on your command. First up, Alani, as he spits a green goo-like substance at the door with Acid. The door sizzles, almost melting before your eyes, though lucky for you the guy seems to be too busy tying up Growlithe to hear the hiss of the acid on the wood, or what at first appeared to be wood but seems to be a slightly tougher material than wood. As soon the hole is big enough, it seems that Turtwig is unable to hold himself any longer, jumping inside and running towards the thief before you or any of your Pokémon gets a chance to react. He Tackles the thief and knocks him to the floor, just as you and your Pokémon rush in and Skitty begins to Sing as loudly as possible. "Huh, more visitors?" he says while on the floor, "Let me welcome you properly, Rapidash come on out!" The wide smile on his face cannot be missed as a light show is released from a Fire Ball, releasing a horse with a fiery mane, neighing and lifting its feet as it comes out. "Use Flamethrower to get rid of those pests!" The horse once again neighs and releases a stream of fire towards Turtwig, who gets hit by the attack, crying out in pain as the attack hits him. He backs down a few steps towards you, probably feeling helpless against the fire type, with Kitty still Singing, but it looks like the Rapidash won't allow her to continue as it unleashes yet another Flamethrower towards you and Skitty, but of you managing to dodge the attack as it buzzes a few inches from you. The Turwig, Kitty and Alani rush to your side to see if you are okay, "Haha, you really think you can beat me." He bursts out into a loud almost maniacal laughter as he begins to drag Jenny and Growlithe to the opposite wall of the door. "Tell you what, if you defeat Rapidash, I'll give you your two friends back, what do you say? I'll even let you use two Pokémon against the Rapidash to show you how generous I am." An unbearable smug grin fills his face as the Rapidash snorts and repeatedly makes a sounds with its hooves, as if ready to attack in a moment's notice. The Turtwig looks at you, completely ashamed of himself as he maybe thinks he ruined your plans...

How will you respond?

Comet's Corner
YDT:
(Please reply in red from now on, thanks!) "Woah, woah, woah! I never said anything about taking their treasure, but you're thinking big, I like it! I guess we can try to see if there are treasures as well. Keep it up, and we'll find those Clefairy in no time!" As he says that he takes out a map and before long you make your way to Comet's Corner...

"Wow, it really is magnificent..." Mitch stops every few seconds to take a picture of the dark horizon and shower of stars above you, with Fabian making a square with his paws and taking imaginary pictures and showing you and Mitch what he took a picture of by pointing. The display is really something magical, with calm breezes sweeping by and occasional trainer's laying on the ground with their Pokémon, admiring the show above as well, stars, comets and Swablu's-or a single Swablu to the exact. It seems to be chirping madly and it flies a few feet from you, appearing to be quite shaken and beat up, pointing off into another direction than the one you are going. "Huh, that Swablu doesn't seem very photogenic, it's also covered in dirt, just ignore it, it'll go away soon." Mitch says, though there is an urgency in Swablu's attitude, as if to be asking you to follow it to help it...

How will you respond?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: (Your response is fine, don't worry about it ^^) Ruby barks, and seems slightly disappointed with the elemental monkeys gone, but probably remembers her trainer as she races to the direction of her trainer, with you slightly shaken with Gaius' bout with one of the monkeys. It isn't long until the fiery canine starts to bark excitedly as she circles a spot ahead, and you see the hole in the ground as well. "Ruby, you're back!" The guy in the hole screams, delight seeming to be winning against his hurt voice. You quickly untangle the Escape Rope and drop it down the hole, and after a few seconds he is says, "Ready!" but a second after he says that, he screams in pain, as you hear a thud in the hole. "Oww! I think I broke my ankle! I don't think I can climb my way up." It doesn't seem like you'll be able to pull this man alone, as Ruby whines anxiously, maybe hoping to help out her trainer in some way. The rope is easily twice the size of the height of the hole, and then some. Looks like you will need to think of a plan or way to get the guy out of the hole without using his leg to help him up.

What will you do?

Nagasaki: "You got it Nagasaki! Ponyta! Use Growl to make whichever Nidoran gets near Blazer back down, then Tackle whatever gets close to him and help with with your own Ember as he Incinerates the Nidoran's!" The Ponyta neighs and raises its legs as she then rushes towards Blazer, stopping right in front of him to protect him. Blazer begins to dance around in circles, carefully as he begins to Sword Dance, raising his attack power as he moves around . The two Nidoran try to separate themselves and attack Ponyta and Blazer from different directions, but Ponyta Growls loudly, intimidating the two Nidoran, but not deterring them from attacking as the both launch themselves towards the Ponyta, one of them Pecking and the other Scratching the Ponyta, making it whine in pain. The first Sword Dance seems to be completed, and Blazer looks stronger as he begins the second Sword Dance. Both Nidoran begin to spit a barrage of purple pin projectiles at Ponyta with a double Poison Sting, and while they take low amounts of health away, they seem to have caused a lot of damage on Ponyta as she look sick after the attack, maybe even slightly purple. "Hang in there Ponyta!" Anne tries to encourage Ponyta, just as she rushes towards one of the Nidoran, slamming into it with a Tackle, and just as Blazer finishes his second Sword Dance he gets hit with a Peck, taking a little health from him. The other Nidoran gets up from the Tackle and Bites Ponyta's leg, causing her to try and shake off the Nidoran as she whines in pain. The Nidoran let's go and both Nidoran get close to each other as they look at Blazer and Ponyta, which makes Blazer send a wall of fire towards both Nidoran with Incinerate as Ponyta sends an Ember herself. Both Nidoran shriek in pain as they get hit by the fire attacks, trying to take shake the flames from their bodies, eventually succeeding after the damage is dealt. "Nagasaki, try to use a physical attack after raising Blazer's attack with Swords Dance, they should be more powerful now! Also, Ponyta isn't looking good, I need to heal her a little, can you distract the Nidoran a little?"

What will you do?

Thrain: Look back here.

ChaoticHell83: Leavanny is the first to make a move this time, unleashing a string towards Gaius. The String Shot almost wraps around his body but he manages to move away right on time with Quick Attack, jumping out of the way and charging towards Leavanny, hitting her and making her stop the the string attack to growl at Gaius. She takes a step back back but recovers quickly as she then Slashes Gaius across his hard metal body, making a screeching sound as the attack collides with his body, taking a little health away from him with the earlier Sword Dance boost in effect. Gaius doesn't back down either as you suddenly see the Leavanny struck with a Bullet Punch, leaving her out of breath for a second as she continues to look at Gaius. Gaius then starts to concentrate again as he tries to Focus Energy, raising his attack and accuracy further, but is unable to block the blinding light unleashed by Leavanny as she uses Flash. While he can only see white for a few seconds his eyes adjust themselves and he fully recovers his vision, with the accuracy boosts from earlier Focus Energies gone.

What will you do now?

The Fountain Garden
Mon1010: Look back here.

Burnt Forest Wastelands
Tyoyo3131:
Maxwell rushes to aid the little girl, jumping to the air and sending a wave of energy towards the Geodude by swinging his tail. The Sonic Boom makes a small explosion making a small dust cloud appear, perfect chance for you to help the little girl, that is until she runs towards the fallen Vulpix. "Pixie!" The little girl cries as she holds the Vulpix in her arms, barely opening its eyes as it whines at the girl. Geodude jumps towards Buizel and Tackles the sea weasel, taking away a little health from him as he is pushed back. Buizel shakes off the attack and punches the Geodude with Rock Smash, making it growl in pain as it is hit by the attack. While grumbling after the attack, the Geodude becomes a ball and it Defense Curls, raising his defense a little as the Buizel looks on ready to continue the fight. "Make that mean Pokémon pay, it hurt Pixie!" the girl says angrily at you holding her little fox tightly.

What will you do now?

As Niles grin faded away, Mitch comments on the clefairy's treasure. 'Stealing their treasure? That doesn't sound very nice. Maybe he means it will be a reward for taking nice picutures of them. That's kind of a stretch, I wonder how he got that idea.' Niles thought, forgetting about is thieving impulses a second ago.

When they reached comet's corner Niles was i awe, of the beauty of the sight. Mitch started taking pictures and Fabian tried to imitate him, with his hands. Niles was confused by Fabian for a second, but then realized what he was doing and started to copy him. 'Zoomer's going to enjoy seeing all these pictures later.' Niles thought to himself as he "snapped" a shot of some rocks.

"Huh, that Swablu doesn't seem very photogenic" Niles heard Mitch comment. Niles stopped "taking" the picture of some yellow grass to see what Mitch was talking about. He saw the Swablu and it looked like it was in bad condition. Niles started running towards it, while looking for the Oran Berry in his bag. It looked like it was injured.

You watch as the woman gives her speech, memories of when and where you saw her before stirring to the surface…

“Greetings! My name is Taryn, and welcome to the Sky Festival! I have here a challenging little game for all of you to play. See my friend Pikachu behind me? The goal will be to help get him down from the sky once I release the rope! Each of you will take turns firing, and the one to pop the last balloon gets a prize! But if you hit Pika, you receive a penalty and will have to skip a turn! That’s a big no-no!

But rest assured, there’s no need to worry as we’ve taken a number of safety precautions. Pika’s wearing a protective suit specially designed to absorb Pokémon attacks.” As she says this, you realize the rodent’s entire body is in fact wrapped in some kind of rubbery substance, a pair of thick goggles yet to be pulled over his eyes completing the ensemble. “He’s also got an emergency parachute for landing, and my Altaria will be FLYing underneath to spot him. In addition, my Alakazam will be tracking his movements closely, and is prepared to catch him with PSYCHIC powers in case anything goes wrong.” She points to the humanshape Pokémon nearby, who waves his spoon at the crowd. “He is also instructed to use KINESIS – or whatever he deems the most effective maneuver at his disposal – if any attacks happen to go into the fairgrounds, but I trust you can keep them under control.”

At this remark, her eyes suddenly become ice as she shoots a freezing glare into the audience, daring one of you to try any funny business. As the cool orbs scan to ensure full compliance, they pause upon you, and widen briefly before softening. “Ah, if I’m not mistaken, you were there at…” Taryn murmurs softly, then remembers her stance and shakes her head, smiling professionally once again as she straightens to address the mass.

“To make things more difficult, Alakazam may also randomly use the move to redirect your attacks from Pika. We’ll also be releasing a number of balloons to act as decoy targets, though if you hit a balloon at any point – including Pika’s which count for more – you’ll earn points which can be redeemed for more rewards at the end. Plus! A few of them even have tickets for extra prizes attached to the bottom. Which brings me to the final phase of the game: Whoever is the first to find Pika, wherever he lands within the fair, and return with the voucher he’s carrying will win the ultimate prize! For this part you are allowed to pass off to a tag team member if you wish, but only one of you can search for Pika. The shooter must stay behind. So here’s the twist: A trainer can partake in the shooting round, and custom-made peashooters will be provided. As a handicap, Alakazam will not interfere with human participants (unless of course their aim presents a danger). This can free a Pokémon, or if you prefer, another person to look for Pika, as well as pick up any prize permits along the way. The only trick is that you can’t have two Pokémon playing both phases. TELEPORT is also disallowed, though FLYing is permitted for the second phase. So plan your strategies wisely!”

Taryn turns to her two assistants, Altaria and Alakazam, who both nod, before confirming the readiness of the target himself. Pika prepares to take flight by drawing the goggles down, and gives his trainer a thumbs-up. She beams approvingly and faces the crowd again.

“Well then, I think that’s it. Do we have any takers? How about you, sir?”

She extends her hand pointedly in your direction. You’re not sure what the initial intent behind her gaze is, but you catch her voice trailing off as she notices Jacob standing beside you for the first time. She pales almost as white as her dress, looking like she had just witnessed a ghost. “Ahem. Your young… Friend can play too if he likes.”

What will you do?
Shadow tried his best not to let his mind glaze over from the rules and regulations stated by the somewhat-familiar Taryn. He had been partially informed over the ballooning activity's mechanics when he saw Taryn at the seaside event years ago, but he hadn't actually participated in it and opted to try something else out instead. Had it been any other festival day, perhaps he would be much more enthusiastic - but this time, the priority wasn't on winning. Team priority was focused exclusively on making sure Jacob was placated for the day and guaranteeing the safety of everyone present, not hunting for trinkets. However, it was likely impractical to simply keep Jacob in a constant, spectatorial position; participation was necessitated. The scientist shuffled uncomfortably as Taryn addressed him. Why was the woman making gestures towards him when communication between the two of them barely scratched the surface of acquaintanceship?

As he continued to consider the unique conditions of the game Shadow grimaced inwardly as Taryn's expression blanched. Had the disguise been unsuitable, or - as Taryn had done so as a part of organisational duties for years - did the sight of Jacob trigger memories in the lady veteran? Shadow briefly considered Jacob's own reaction when the team arrived back at the Sky Gate. Lines were forming connections between dots whose existence he merely suspected. Were Taryn and Jacob both involved in something neither wanted to remember? Novawing tensed as his eyes slightly narrowed, struggling between maintaining vigil and getting ready to pounce, sensing the threat to the mission.

The operative turned his mind back to the activity, and his gaze towards the excitable ghost boy. Based on the rules, Shadow could ask Jacob to participate in the game and let him free Doldrum to look for the prizes, effectively completing his own priorities - but what would happen then if the Murkrow scout took it as a clear sign of betrayal? The team had barely dealt with the horde before; a second experience of their combined rage would be far from pleasant. Shadow was also unsure of Jacob's condition - whatever injuries he sustained in life had been carried over in rigor mortis, and it seemed unlikely that Jacob could man a peashooter with his dislocated jaw and problematic limbs. There was absolutely no chance that Shadow would leave Jacob to scramble for prize tickets, either.

"Thanks, Ms. Taryn, but I'm afraid he's a little too sickly to participate," Shadow kindly informed the lady. "I'll be playing in his stead as he watches. My Snivy will be retrieving the tickets." He turned to the active team members, hoping they understood the silent message in his eyes. Novawing nodded; the chief objective had not changed. At all times the safety of everyone was to be protected. Doldrum bobbed a little, understanding that he could not yet be freed of the grip, and more concerned about the rampant popping of balloons that was to follow. Durin clicked and clacked in his unreadable manner while Arugulus slithered about his shoes.

"I'm going to try to put up as a good a show as I can. Novawing, Durin, you know what you have to do," Shadow muttered as he instructed the free operatives. "Arugulus, when the time comes, you go and grab as many tickets as you can, but don't push yourself. At the first sign of something wrong, fall back. I don't want you getting crushed out there. We'll find another opportunity to make this mission work out."

(Assignments that require you to travel to foreign countries don’t count.) Running secret operations by day, doing battle with enemy agents by night, all this on top of maid duties… A girl – even a guy turned into one – needs a break to herself once in a while. Yep, this’ll be your chance to finally sit back and relax… That is, if your fish friend didn’t have anything to say about it.

Like her name suggests, the wily Enchantress sneaks up behind you and suddenly casts a cold spell of rain. Wiping water from your face, you turn around to find that apparently she wasn’t alone in this plot. Two more Magikarp stare blankly back at you, their innocent guise barely masking a clear penchant for mischief. Upon your greeting, they all splash about together in response, sending another fine spray your way. Chuckling, you call out to the one you recognize, proposing it’s time to move on. You allow her a moment to say goodbye to her newfound friends though, which she does in the flashiest way possible.

Now thoroughly soaked from head to toe, the two of you carry on your quest through the garden in search of more excitement. …And perhaps a towel.

The sun blazed down on Morg as she and her fish friend continued to explore the garden. All the splashing from before provided a welcome coolness in the summer heat.

"Let's stick to where there's water," she ventured. "That way I'll always have a chance to cool off when it gets too hot."

Enchantress bounced happily in agreement. The two found a small brook and decided to follow it upstream, staying close to its shores. The water turned out to be a popular destination for the local Pokemon as well, and Morg was thoroughly impressed by the atmosphere of the place.

"This place is great. I love it!" she laughed. "Ever since they banned human cruelty to the Pokemon, it's turned into a real paradise. Look how free and playful they are!"

Soon they came to a great beach, and Morg and Enchantress paused to admire an intricate sand castle built by a Wooper. Enchantress bounced anxiously as they observed the construction.

"Nah, I don't think sand sculpture is for you. You're too clumsy!" Morg prodded.

CRASH!

"Whoa! Speaking of clumsy!" Morg winced as a hyperactive young boy came stomping through the newly built castle to retrieve a muddied football. She continued to stare in bewilderment as the scene quickly escalated before them: the airheaded boy's kick, taking a dazed Wooper along for a ride -- the Wooper's slimy impact at its destination -- the girl's horrified reaction -- the shouting -- the... rock throwing?!

Morg snapped out of her disbelief. She had to do something! Which one would she approach? The girl's behaviour didn't seem too out of line; after all, Morg herself would have been startled by a slimy creature smacking into her out of nowhere. That unruly little boy, however, needed to seriously cool down. Morg quickly approached the little boy to try to talk some sense into him.

"Hey... Calm down! That Pokemon was here first!"

The children continued to ignore her. Morg spoke a little louder to try to keep their attention.

"What I mean is... YOU'RE the ones who ran into IT..."

Reasoning with children never did come easily for her.

"My Pokemon are prepared to defend it! So leave it alone!"

With that, Enchantress gave a menacing cry as she bounced fiercely in between the boy and the Wooper. Except, of course, that it looked more like comical flailing and not very fierce or menacing at all.

Morg glanced to the side and noticed a nearby man approaching with a Chikorita. Surely he would be sympathetic. Or at least know how to deal with these punk kids. She shot the trainer an exasperated look, as if to ask for help.

Instead you settle for a hug and reminder of how much you love her. Tuxedo Rose looks on the loving scene with a smile, satisfied with its work. You turn to it and offer profuse thanks, bobbing your head up and down until you’re dizzy. Tuxedo Rose simply holds up a bouquet, beseeching silence. A true hero needs no thanks, it seems to say.

You and Sunny both sigh, starstruck. However, this doesn’t mean SUPER DAISY will stand down. It’s time to get back in the game! Tuxedo Rose steps forward first however, insisting two lovely ladies such as yourselves should take a seat and watch it perform wonders. You and Sunshine exchange worried looks, recalling its earlier example of so-called “prowess”. Tuxedo Rose coughs and waves it off, claiming it was holding back so as to prevent seriously harming its opponent, whom it must have misjudged. Now it will show you its true power.

Well… Can’t argue with that. You decide to let Tuxedo Rose usher the two of you back for now, admittedly somewhat eager to see if it can actually pull off something spectacular this time. Tuxedo Rose turns around and faces the fuming Victreebel, tut tutting at such despicable actions before suddenly taking flight – or at least jumping very high. You and Sunshine watch in awe as it soars across the field, its cape blocking the sun as it gains a golden glow. You cheer loudly as it comes in for a kick, but Victreebel’s eyes narrow and it WHIPs out its VINEs again, wrapping around the Roserade’s leg. Tuxedo Rose gasps and falls, dangling helplessly as Victreebel swings it back and forth. You facepalm as you watch the hapless hero flail through your fingers. Fail.

Victreebel lightly flicks Tuxedo Rose with its leaf, laughing as the victim can only sway limply in response. A grin lights over Victreebel as an idea occurs to it, and it starts to whirl Roserade around above its head like a lasso, building up great speed before letting the projectile fly. Unfortunately having no blanket this time to support it, you cringe as Roserade crashes headlong into a tree and slides back down with spirals in its eyes, once again knocked out.

Well, that does it. No more miss nice gal. You order Sunny to BURNINATE that mean son of a beach, and she is only too glad to oblige. Summoning the FIRES OF RAGE within her, she blasts Victreebel with an intense wave of flames, leaving a charred black plant blinking comically. If this were a cartoon, you would expect it to pause a moment before turning into a pile of ash with a pair of googly eyes on top.

However, the pain sensors kick back in, and it shrieks loudly, reminding you that this is very much reality. Still, you’re not through with your revenge yet. You coldly command Sunshine to discharge another shot, and though tired, she begins to gradually gather another blaze in her belly. The first one was to pay for hurting Sunshine, this time it’s Roserade’s turn. For the honor of Tuxedos!

“LILLIGANT!”

To your astonishment, the Lilligant suddenly throws herself in front of Victreebel, holding her arms out as a shield. Sunshine startles and closes her beak, sweating and flustering as her cheeks turn red, bulging from the build-up of energy. You wave your arms wildly, worried she’s almost about to burst. Finally she heeds the warning and swallows, belching a small cloud of smoke and blushing almost as bright as before.

You breathe in relief, and turn curiously to Lilligant, who is currently patting Victreebel kindly on the back. It coughs and raises a vine to indicate it’s okay, and Lilligant smiles… Then smacks the pitcher so hard it nearly overturns. Shocked, Victreebel turns back with a hurt look, nursing its bruise with a leaf. You stare in confusion as Lilligant continues to scold the much larger creature until it shrinks under its foliage, wondering what the heck is going on. Wasn’t that Victreebel trying to eat Lilligant a moment ago? Why is it letting its meal chew it out instead, not to mention why would a prey defend its predator in the first place?

Looks like you’ll soon get your answer, as Lilligant approaches you with a subdued Victreebel in tow. Lilligant bows before you, pushing the pitcher plant to do the same. They then start to explain the whole situation to Sunshine, who looks a little hurt by the news but translates dutifully to her trainer. Tapping into your WING-WHISPERER attribute, you understand her words perfectly.

“Ms. Lily knows Mr. Rose has a crush on her, but he’s too shy to tell her! He’s only brave when he wears his mask and cape! He’s not really a hero, but he pretends to be one to try and impress her. She likes him either way, so she thought she’d set up an opportunity for him to save her and confess his feelings~”

The Victreebel cleared its throat at this juncture, and Sunshine added, “Victreebel is actually her cousin! His name’s Victor!”

Lily shot Victor a look, and he lowered his head, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly with a vine – although looking a little less sorry than perhaps he should. His sister rolled her eyes and sighed.

“But, it didn’t work out quite as planned. For one, this ‘big brute’ kept going overboard, even though he claims he was just teasing. And they didn’t expect the two of us show up!”

As Sunshine puffs her chest up proudly for some reason, Lily goes over to check on Tuxedo Rose, finding him still blissfully asleep and unaware. She leans over and plants a kiss on his forehead, and you can’t help but d’awww at the scene. Something tugs at your little heartstrings, playing a somewhat sad song for the star-crossed couple. You’d like to help these two lovers get together, but how?
One minute Daisy was ready to burn the whole garden down, and the next she stood dumbfounded at the Lilligant, who was blocking her and Sunshine's path of revenge on the Victreebel. While Daisy's jaw dropped, Sunshine's actually closed up, keeping back the Heat Wave that was forming within her. Noticing her bird turning deep red (not with blushing though), the trainer waved her arms around in a panic- for probably the 10th time today- trying to somehow make the glowing stop. With a massive gulp the Swablu swallowed the remainder of the flames, hiccuping a smoky ring before becoming another shade of red once more (THIS time it was blushing). Crisis averted, Daisy and Sunshine turned their attention to watch a strange scene unfold before them.

The Lilligant was propping up the slightly charred Victreebel, helping it onto its, er, feet? The petaled pokemon was showing no signs of fear it displayed so clearly just a few moments ago, and the pitcher plant no longer had a hungry look in its eyes. In fact, it look liked the roles had reversed when suddenly the Lilligant gave her "attacker" a painful smack that even left Daisy and Sunshine wincing. The little girl's curiosity was off the charts when the leafy lady finally approached her, dragging the now slightly crestfallen Victreebel with her. After one polite bow and another not-so-polite one, the pair of plant pokemon began explaining their situation to Sunshine. The avian's expression changes from hurt to pride to deep in thought. After they finished talking, Sunshine relayed the conversation back to Daisy, who translated it easily thanks to her "Wing Whisperer" powers. Understanding dawns on the girl's face, along with having a "D'awwww" reaction when she sees Lily kiss her unconscious hero gently. Putting on a determined expression, Daisy began telling her plan to bring the two lovebirds together.

"HUDDLE UP! Oh wait, I don't want to accidentally wake up Tuxedo Rose! Huddle up, everyone!" Daisy said, bringing her voice down to a whisper. The trainer and the pokemon formed a loose circle a good distance away from the Roserade, taking every precaution so they wouldn't disturb him. "So, it seems like Victor had a little TOO much fun playing the bad guy in this scenario. I'm really sorry we showed up all univited and ruined your plans! What I'm not sorry about is giving you a taste of Sunny's fire, because I totally did not appreciate that "scaring me to death with that ginormous explosion" thing that left me thinking I'd lost my best friend! Not cool Victor, not cool!"

"That's all water under the bridge now, since everyone is okay! Well, mostly okay. When Tuxedo Rose hit that tree I could feel the impact on my head too. We can still turn this around though! Here's what we should do~ Sunny and I will pretend that we were defeated by the "monster". That's you Victor! We'll be lying down playing dead but we'll keep an eye out just in case something goes wrong. With his two helpers down, Tuxedo Rose won't be able to just walk away! Lily, I guess you can just stick to your "damsel in distress" act! You do a really fine job of it from what I've seen~ Victor, look as menacing as possible, but I think it's a good thing you look a bit beaten up so Rose can have a little more confidence about "finishing you off"! We don't want him running away..."

"All clear? No questions? Okey dokey lokey then, time to start Plan B- Operation Get These Two Together So They Can Live Happily Ever After~!"

"Make that mean Pokémon pay, it hurt Pixie!" the girl says angrily at you holding her little fox tightly.

While the little girl tightly hugged her Vulpix, James thought of his next commands. "Keep him away from me while I help the girl, just use Rock Smash to keep him back!" James said, and looked back over at the girl. "Let's try this again..." He mumbled, and started to run towards the girl.

A thief? I guess finding my Grass type will have to be put on hold for a little while. I can't have a thief running around on my conscience when I know I can probably stop him Big thinks to himself and grabs the single pokeball on his belt. "Go Hotstuff!" he yells and releases his Charmander who lets out a cry. This wasn't how I expected my first battle to go. he thinks quickly If I have him use heat wave it will be boosted by his charcoal but it might accidentally burn the paper, which I am guessing what it stole. Just my luck I can't use his best attack. We will have to use alternative methods "Use a Strength on the zigzagoon please Hotstuff! Then follow up with two quick Cuts!" The trainer ordered his fire type

Gaius then starts to concentrate again as he tries to Focus Energy, raising his attack and accuracy further, but is unable to block the blinding light unleashed by Leavanny as she uses Flash. "Hmm, not quite what I was expecting but that works too! Good job Gaius, keep her up."

He stopped and contemplated some more about the match. He felt like after this match he would give Gaius some time to train and learn new moves. It would be hard to be removed from his dear friend, but the Scizor was very limited in terms of his movepool, and that made Caesar feel sorry for him.

Suddenly a buzzing noise rang in Caesar's ear, Gaius calling out to his trainer for orders as he noticed he'd zoned out a bit in thought.

"Oh yeah, uhmm. Shoot him a Leer, then hit him with a Quick Attack and a Bullet Punches before he can react!"

Eric continues to look on as the spider retains its knowing grin. He ponders over and over again just what this Pokémon could have planned, but pushes the thought away as Blaze leaps forward and shoots an ugly Leer at the Ariados. The spider shudders once again, but retaliates with a cutting Poison Jab. Blaze barks in agony, rushing forward with a Flamethrower to get even. "Yeah, keep at it, Blaze!" Eric calls from the sideline. That spider will be fried to a crisp. As the smoke clears, however, a different story plays out in front of Eric's eyes. It looks like the spider managed to barely avoid the attack as it used its Agility to dodge! Curses fly from Eric's mouth, and the spider's gleaming smile only enrages him more. We're spending too much time here. The Pokémon Centre needs those supplies right away, and here we are twiddling our thumbs, trying to get past some Ariados. We need to finish this up, fast! Eric glances over at Steven and Pyro and sees that they're still in the midst of their battle as well.

"Blaze, let's try to end this soon! Leer at the Ariados yet again; then, when it hesitates, jump in close for a Bite. When you're in point-blank range, let loose another Flamethrower and burn that spider down! Make sure those flames hit it!"

You smile to reassure her, and attempt to elevate. However, your body fails to stir. Something is wrong. Had the mud or a monster claimed your soles? No, but your soul was sinking. Thinking. About what you found. What was left behind. And what lay ahead. Deep darkness. You realize you are afraid of more than just shadows, the behemoths you might behold within. It is the feeling of not knowing where or who you are, of being both without direction and light. Your mind is already more than murky maze, to plunge your physical being into the same sensation scares you beyond belief.

Yet, compassion overcomes. You wish to help the Surskit no matter what. And to do that, you are willing to face down the demons – even if they are your own. Perhaps the shadows may hold secrets for you as well. If you can navigate past the pitfalls, whether presented by the caves or produced simply by panic, you may finally discover what you are seeking.

Gradually, your hands unfurl, and they push the rest of your body up by degrees. Vine contemplates the opportunity to take her normal perch on your back before you fully raise, but decides she’d rather stay with Surskit. The two seem to have formed a fast friendship while you were asleep. You wonder what they could have been up to without your watch. Turning expectantly to the guide, you ask where to go.

This time it’s the Surskit’s turn to solidify, staring at the sand like it was some kind of foreign substance. Seems it wasn’t kidding about never leaving the water. You and Vine kindly coax and encourage. It skirts the side, assessing the silt until it discovers what it deems to be a secure deposit, a perfect safe patch. Very gradually, it lifts one leg and places it gently on the ground, eyes squeezed tight as if afraid it will fall through. When nothing happens, it slowly opens one eye and tries the other leg, followed by the second and back. Soon it is standing firm on all four feet. It blushes a bit upon your congratulations, but waves proudly.

Walking is another story however. It takes Surskit a few minutes to figure out how to coordinate its balance as it takes single steps at a time, like a baby learning how to toddle. Without the inconsistency of water underneath, it appears even more prone to wobbling than if a wave came and crashed into it. It soon gets the hang of it however, and even begins to bounce up and down in joy. Waddling forward to take the lead, it indicates its leg in a certain direction, and you gladly follow it to the…

Rock Garden

A stark contrast to the world of colors left behind, this land consists of only grey. Yet, it possesses its own form of beauty. Striking stones tower strong, exuding silent splendor. You marvel at the monoliths, each its own story, carved by climate and age. Hard, enduring. A testament to time, they are not only Nature’s best and bravest soldiers, but survivors.

Surskit seems to sniff the air, testing with its own antenna. It closes its eyes and listens, calmly attuning to the ambiance. You attempt the same, but hear nothing out of the ordinary. However, Surskit seems to have picked up on something, as it perks up and points towards a nearby cave. As you approach and peer profoundly into the gloom, you start to succumb to terror once again. Perhaps it would be best to turn back. Something tells you the shadows hold no secrets that would satisfy… Only sorrow.

You feel Surskit cling to your leg, and snap back to your surroundings. That’s right, you made a promise to protect, and it would be discordant not to keep it. Besides, whatever waits for you within those walls, you would rather know now than never. Taking a deep breath, you and the two Pokémon boldly enter to explore the earth.

Soon, you find yourself drenched in darkness. Feeling the walls, you pitch forward blindly, regularly stopping to make sure your companions stick close. After a while of walking, you begin to hear strains of something. A song. At the same time, a soft glow warms its way into your heart. Before you are two corridors. The beacon beckons from the left, while the music marches away to the right. Surskit grows excited, ignoring the brightness and instead pulling you towards the melody.

However, the tune is suddenly interrupted by a screech. A blue bat dives before your face, causing you to stumble back. Surskit squeals in panic as you nearly step on it, but thankfully Vine manages to pull it aside in time. Meanwhile, the Zubat hovers overhead, glaring distastefully between the three of you. It’s clearly intent on not letting any of you past this point.

What will you do?

I watched the Surskit stare into the sand as if it had never seen such a substance before. Its legs twitched as it contemplated stepping onto land. I looked at it and smiled.

"It's okay. Look." Vine and I poked at the sand with our fingers. The sand shifted softly beneath the light touch.

The Surskit lifts one of its small legs onto the sand. Closing its eyes tightly, the Surskit's leg quivers as it pushes itself up. Its eyes pop open and it goes for another leg. Finding that the other leg could hold, the Surskit went for the latter. They propped the Surkit up on the sand as if it were still on the water. Vine began to make a light tapping noise with her tail. Applause? I followed with snaps; I hoped they were quiet enough to avoid stirring the bug. Its red face blushed even more, a feat I had thought was impossible. After a few seconds, the Surskit stood proudly and began to lead the way. I waved goodbye to the spectrum of color I was leaving behind.

Along the way, I had noticed a distinct change in color. From the beautiful, vivid colors of the Rainbow Waterfalls, the landscape had transformed into an array of blacks and whites. The monochrome setting reflected in the wildlife; there was nothing notable to speak of. However, the calming absence of color relaxed me. Incredible rock formations towered above me and I craned my neck to catch the top of a few of them. My mind wonders to their history; how long had each of them been there? What had each of them gone through? Weathering and erosion had left their beautious marks on the rocks, yet, they still shined. They stood, not just as fragments of the land's past, but as the inhabitants of the future.

Surskit began to swerve in its walk. Its small legs vibrated. Was it listening to something? I tried to listen, but I heard nothing. I wondered if Vine could hear it. The Surskit lifts its nose and smells the air. It swooned with delight and pointed to a nearby cave. Suddenly, my arms began to tremble, and not with the faintness Surskit's legs had had. No, it was the fear again. It took my entire being to stay the course. Trying to think thoughts of light, I continued to follow Surskit. Yet, a sense of sadness wrapped itself around me and didn't let go.

The Surskit pinched my leg and transported me back to reality. I had to protect it. Why did I feel so strongly about protection? Was it simply my character or my lack of it? I breathed in and hold the air. Another memory came to me. This time, there was no image. There were just some calming words.

"Hold your breath. You will feel relaxed. But, you must always let go."

Following those words, I walked into the darkness. Shadows swept around my arms and legs. The absence of light was surprising and striking. I reached for the wall and felt my way through the abyss. No matter what, I did not let go of the wall. As long as I had the wall, I knew where something was. Suddenly, I began to hear something. A strange and faint noise. Then, I saw a small light. Oh, how I wanted to run towards the light. But, that would have meant leaving my wall and leaving Surskit. It didn't take long to realize the sound and the light were coming from two different directions. Surskit turned quickly towards the sound and I sighed as I followed.

The noise began to grow louder until it was interrupted by a terrible noise. I felt something against my face. A bat creature! A Zubat! It obviously didn't want us to past. But, why?

Quote:
Zubat. The Bat Pokemon. It checks its surroundings and location using reflections of the ultrasonic waves from its mouth.
My senses flared. What was that beating in my heart? What was that excitement? In my excitement, I almost fell over Surskit, but Vine pushed it out of the way.

"Put Surskit somewhere safe." I whispered to Vine. The Zubat had the advantage. However, my fears and inhibitions had been pushed away with battle. I took a deep breath and, remembering the advice, let out a sigh.

"Vine! Use your Pound attack on the Zubat! Perk up your ears here! This will be a test of listening!"

I waited and hoped that the attack had hit. In the horrid darkness, listening would be key. I closed my eyes; there was no point in keeping them open. I found myself in the same darkness as I had been before, but, this was my darkness. I regained my control. I listened for the flapping of wings.

"Try to listen for Zubat's wings. Use Pound in that direction!"

Nobody could see it, but, underneath the darkness there was a smile.

Update #38 (08/27/2012)

Hello updatees, just a heads up, I'll try to update this Wednesday night/Thursday morning and Friday night/Saturday morning (Fizzy Bubbles time). After this I'll have other commitments eating up my time so I won't be able to update as frequently as I have but I'll definitely try to post one update per week, maybe two if I have time but can't promise anything. Anyway without further rambling, updates.

Sky Gate
biggggg5:
Deciding stop the little thief, you let out Hotstuff out of his Pokéball, who seems more than ready to follow your commands as he rushes to the little raccoon. He grabs the Zigzagoon with his claws, and throws him 5 feet away from you with Strength. It quickly recovers from the attack, still biting the paper tightly, Growling at Hotstuff, which seems to work as he backs down a little, lowering his attack slightly. While intimidated by the attack, it doesn't stop Hotstuff from slashing the Zigzagoon across the face with Cut, making it almost let go of the paper, but it manages to tighten its jaw just in time to prevent the paper from escaping. It rams into Hotstuff with its whole body as it Tackle him, making the Charmander land on his bum, and the Zigzagoon sees this as the perfect opportunity to retreat, only Hotstuff springs back up just as quick as he landed, Cutting the Zigzagoon across the body, wincing in pain as it is struck. It lowers its head and charges at Hotstuff, hitting him with Headbutt on the ribs, making him hold his left ribs in pain. Looks like neither Pokémon wants to back down and the Zigzagoon is holding to the paper, jaws clenched with no intention of letting go of it.

Just as the Zigzagoon finishes its attack, the woman catches up to you, almost out of breath as she speaks to you, "Thank you so much for stopping that little scoundrel, it stole a paper that is very important to me. Please, you have to help me get that paper back!"

What will you do now?

The Swablu looks at you for a second before eyeing the Oran Berry suspiciously before eventually taking a bite out of it. It continues to eat the berry until it is gone. "Swaaa" the blue bird-like creature sighs, and it looks like the Oran Berry did its job as it is looking much healthier than before. "Okay, now that that's over with, can we continue our search for the Clefairy?" Mitch seems to be ready to leave with him looking at the mud covered Swablu with no emotion, other than slight disgust, though Fabian doesn't seem to mind as he is still to busy taking pictures of the surroundings. Before you get a chance to answer Mitch the Swablu starts to fly and pull your hand with its claws, careful not to scratch you but pulling you. "What's that thing doing? We need to go the other way where the Clefairy sightings were suppose to be." The Swablu continues to chirp and pull you but Mitch doesn't seem interested at all in whatever the Swablu wants to show you. "Okay, we really need to get going. We can't hang around here or go on detours if we want to find them." It seems like the Swablu may need some help or something with urgency filling its chirping and face...

How will you respond?

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: Look back here.

Thrain: Blaze barks at your orders, just as the Ariados sends purple pin like projectiles towards him, hitting him and making back down from the pain of the Poison Sting. You take a closer look and notice that Blazer seems a little sick after the attack, though he still Leers at the Ariados, which still takes effect as his defenses are lowered even further. Blaze jumps towards the Ariados, while it is unnerved by the Leer and Bites its body, making the Ariados screech in pain. Blaze let's go of the Ariados after taking another small chunk of health away, and it seems like the Ariados is finally getting worn as it begins to pant, but Blaze is also starting to looking tired. The Ariados' eyes begin to glow, just as Blaze is about to spit out his attack, and Blaze is suddenly lifted from his feet, whining while floating before being thrown by a Psychic attack towards a tree, yelping in pain as he hits the tree, taking quite a bit of health from the pup. He falters getting up but manages to get up before unleashing a Flamethrower at the Ariados, who gets hit head on, screeching in agony as it tries to put out the flame covering its body. The Ariados' panting is now heavier than before, but it manages to unleash another String Shot at Blaze, who gets covered in the string once again, slowing him down and stumbling slightly as he looks on at the Ariados, but also looking in pain as the poison takes effect.

You then hear Steven say behind you, "Eric, I have a bad feeling about this. The Ariados seem like they aren't really looking to defeat our Pokémon. It is more like they are stalling..."

What will you do?

ChaoticHell83: "Start by using a String Shot, then slash it some more with another Air Slash and finish by cutting it up with a Razor Leaf Leavanny!" Leavanny's defense dips a little more once Gaius' Leer takes effect, looking at the bug type and intimidating it with direct eye contact. The Leavanny keeps its distance after the Leer, but it still sends a String Shot at Gaius, covering him in string and reducing his movement around the field slightly, but not nearly enough as Gaius disappears and reappears next to Leavanny, ramming into her with a Quick Attack. The attacks finally seem to be wearing down the Leavanny, who is now panting slightly. Leavanny takes advantage of the close range and slashes the air and an air wave is created and sent towards Gaius, hitting him once again with Air Slash. Gaius seems to be getting tired, but manages to perform another Bullet Punch, hitting the Leavanny in the ribs with the steel energy charged punch. Leavanny quickly reacts by whipping his hands towards Gaius, and leaves start to fly towards him as the Razor Leaf is released. The leaves hit Gaius' hard steel body, but they also slice a large amount of the string around Gaius, freeing his movements by a bit.

Neither Pokémon look like they'll be able to last much longer, and it seems Mateos knows that as he orders his next commands after scowling at the unfortunate turn in his attacks, "Okay Leavanny! Start to wrap this up by trapping it in an Electro Web, then leech some health and energy from him with Giga Drain and recover yourself with Synthesis after that!"

What will you do now?

The Fountain Garden
Mon1010: Look back here.

Burnt Forest Wastelands
Tyoyo3131:
You run towards the girl, only she screams at you, "Watch out!" pointing to the direction of the fight. You quickly respond and turn, only to see Maxwell fly an inch or two in front of you, between you and the girl. He rotates his body while in the air landing on his paws but being taken back by the force of the Strength the Geodude displayed. He then lunges towards the rock Pokémon, punching it as hard as he can with Rock Smash, making it growl in pain once again. You are finally a feet a way from the little girl to check how she is doing, "I'm fine, it didn't do anything to me thanks to you, but it looks like your Buizel needs your help now." You turn to the field and see that the Geodude hasn't gotten friendlier and it seems you've successfully gotten its attention away from the girl. But it looks like you and Buizel are the next targets, with the little girl possibly being the target after you...

Niles smiled as the bird happily ate the berry, it seemed a bit more energetic after doing so. It was such an adorably puffy Pokemon, he was so glad he could help. Mitch then said that they should be going, but the bird flew up and started pulling on Nile's hand. Niles laughed happily, this thing was being so friendly. Mitch continued to complain about the Swablu, but Niles wasn't listening anymore. The bird started chirping anxiously and Niles felt himself falling forward a bit.

"Let's go!" Niles screamed as he ran off in the direction the Swablu was pulling. He had forgotten about Mitch and Fabian and was only paying attention to the cotton ball. Niles thought this bird wanted to play with him, and he wasn't gonna give up on a opportunity like that.

Caesar started sighing a bit with relief to see his opponent beginning to stumble around with this orders. He appeared a little more desperate, as did his tired Pokemon, and Caesar was quite aware that Gaius was feeling the effects of battle as well. Hang in there big guy, he thought to himself.

"Gaius, evade the Electroweb with a Quick Attack, then keep the pressure on with a Bullet Punch as soon as you can afterwards to interrupt his Giga Drain! Finish with another Quick Attack to stop his Synthesis.

I feel a little stupid not being able to give Gaius better orders, but he's been doing great so far. Hopefully he can stick it out a little while longer and then I can give him a nice, long rest. Then after that some training to up his available movepool. I have to remember to be on the lookout for any TM's whether it be in shops or out in the forest, or anywhere else I travel. Caesar began talking to himself inside his head, not paying too much attention to the immediate events after issuing his orders. He glanced over at the spectators watching the battle, and at Yolanda. He smiled a little, and excitement coursed through his body at the notion of helping these people with their problems. Why does that excite me so much? I've never been that compassionate towards people I've never met before. Perhaps it's geared more towards spending time with my companions and growing together. As goofy as that sounds.

"Great job Hotstuff!" He praises his pokemon. "Give it another cut across the face. If it drops the paper use strength again then blast it with a heat wave! If it doesn't drop it at the first cut give it two more in the face until it does." Big asks his loyal Charmander. Using his ADHD to his full advantage he talks to the woman while still concentrating fully on the battle. "No problem ma'am. What is so important about the paper that a zigzagoon would steal it? Do you think someone sent it or is it wild?" He asked her. A zigzagoon could be a good first capture. It will help fill out my team until I can find my other planned Pokemon Big thinks to himself as he shifts back to the battle.

The Ponyta neighs and raises its legs as she then rushes towards Blazer, stopping right in front of him to protect him.

Nagasaki responds to his partner "Expect me to do that." He then turns his sight into Blazer. "Blazer, looks like it's time for you to use your new moves..." With confidence to himself and his more powered Pokemon, Nagasaki raised his wooden sword-like stick, pointing to Ponyta. "Blazer, protect Ponyta! Go and cover it, then use your new move - Focus Energy, as it helps you from guarding Ponyta from any attacks. Counter any incoming attack with your another newly learned move - Night Slash! Another Night Slash if necessary!" Nagasaki, after the order, said to Anne. "Hold on, Anne. Blazer will cover your Ponyta."

You call upon your Squirtle again, who emerges suddenly more propelled than ever before. Barely able to contain his brimming energy, it overflows as a warning shot right off the bat, albeit missing the mark entirely. Before you can reel him in however, his body starts to blaze brilliant. His tail fills out and unfurls slightly, resembling a wave. Tufts of spray also sprout from the sides of his head. His skin, shell, and claws shed their infant softness to build a harder, deeper sheen. Baby blue washes away to leave cool cobalt underneath. In addition, two tiny fangs protrude from the corners of his mouth. Scanning this bold, blue creature with your Pokédex, you confirm that it is a Wartortle, signature of strength and endurance.

This time it is your turn to hardly control your enthusiasm as you congratulate Neptune on his evolution. However, there is no time for prolonged festivity, as there are still oppressing Golduck to attend to. You bark out orders to your Pokémon, then turn to Ducklett, who has been watching the development in awe. To see such a squat, awkward critter transform into a beautiful beast before its eyes seems to have inflated it with some confidence, as it responds to your request with a buoyant nod. With your encouragement, it can surely accomplish this much.

Once everyone’s assured of their individual strategy, they all spring into action. Larry starts off by insinuating his body into the earth, sharpening every surface to sleek precision. He even abrades harshly against the hard stones Ducklett was just sitting on. In the process, he receives some scratches and dings, but shrugs them off. Soon his entire shell is more streamlined, and especially efficient for moving through air. This, when combined with the fact that the wind is now blowing at his back rather than against, makes his body practically like a bullet. He tucks his head and rockets towards the leader, who has zero time to react as it receives Larry’s rock-hard head straight to its gut. The leader gasps and grunts, and you grin at Larry’s success. However, that smile substitutes a frown when you notice a hard gleam in Golduck’s eyes. Its gem glows strangely like a dancing flame, almost emanating heat, and its gaze glazes over with ice and ire as it lifts a hand high over its head. Before you can warn Larry to evade, the leader demonstrates its hidden potential and superiority over its brethren by bringing its arm down to deliver a lethal CROSS CHOP across Larry’s back.

Larry crumples, then collapses. After being dealt such a heavy and unexpected blow, his weakened body, already weathered by water and brain damage, is unable to withstand any more punishment. The followers cheer loudly for their chief’s victory, and it casts you a haughty look. Seems it heard your “stupid” remark, and dares you to now retract that statement. Realizing you’re not nearly impressed, it decides to give you more proof by turning its attention to the rest of your Pokémon.

Seeing his poor partner battered and brutalized, Boing leaps to avenge Larry. He first attempts to distract his enemies by a brilliant light show, but the leader senses his intent and calls a warning to the flock, most of whom are alert enough to respond appropriately by closing their eyes. The ones who manage to avoid blindness then take a page from their leader’s book, whose display of sudden mental prowess PSYCHed them UP. Copying the head’s confidence and ingenuity, their own flash of inspiration helps them figure out how to organize even bigger BOMBs of MUD. Upon their commander’s consenting snap, they bombard Boing from all directions, severely reducing the pig’s sight instead.

Boing squeals and rubs ineffectually at the sludge clouding his eyes. Discouraged but not deterred, he shakes his head blearily and bristles with greater fury. He tries to fire another wisp of electricity towards the leader, but rage and lack of vision makes him grossly overcompensate the distance, and the attack veers completely off course. Golduck merely snorts in derision as the spark lands far from its feet and fizzles out. Boing blushes in embarrassment and aborts back to your side, having been squarely beaten by his own game.

Now it’s Neptune’s turn to step up to the plate. He also tucks his head and launches himself at the leader, who groans as his stomach is assaulted once again. Seeing Neptune draw back his fist back for a follow-up, the Golduck’s jewel flares red again, this time spreading all over its body. Once again it is far too late to withdraw, and Neptune’s fist impacts the ruby armor with full force. Golduck grimaces but grins as it COUNTERs the strike for double damage, and both Pokémon are sent flying from each other.

The followers flock to facilitate their leader’s rise to its feet. It staggers slightly, dazed and disoriented and seeing duckies of its own. However, it retains enough clarity to shoot you a triumphant gaze, as your tortoise currently isn’t in much better condition. Not only was he heavily injured by his own backfire, he unfortunately landed on his backside. His clumsy, tired efforts to right himself make a shameful scene, and the Golduck slap their knees in amusement, some even rolling on their own backs with raucous laughter. One of them then gets a great idea, and concentrates hard to solidify one of the nearby pools with ICE BEAM. It seems their leader’s display of cleverness has initiated a wave of revolution, a sudden surge of resourcefulness. The others quickly get the picture and hi-five the genius.

They then descend on Neptune, who immediately shrinks into his shell upon sensing shadows surrounding him. One of them lifts Neptune and tosses it to its partner, who WHIPs its TAIL around to send the poor puck skidding onto the ice. The group whoops and follows, soon engaged in a rowdy game of Kick-the-Wartortle. The leader watches the proceedings with great satisfaction, too tired to join but appreciative of the show. Two of its cohorts have stayed behind as bodyguards and to help make their king more comfortable, and all three clap and cheer every time a goal is scored. It seems they’ve all but forgotten about the fight at this point. …Perhaps literally in the leader’s case, as it appears to use AMNESIA to help clear its mind of confusion, kicking back to rest and enjoy the game.

However, you can still catch the leader regularly keeping tabs on you out of the corner of its eye, waiting to see your reaction. It winks and waggles its tail teasingly in your direction. You sigh, recognizing this bully is clearly cleverer than you gave it credit for, or else it wouldn’t be in control over such a devoted crowd. You look to Ducklett, who has been tracking Neptune’s movements across the ice, covering its eyes anytime one of the players lines up for a slapshot. It realizes your stare and squawks nervously, knowing you expect it to assist. All the onus was on it now, and its knees buckle under the pressure, shaking together violently.

As it glances anxiously around for an excuse or escape, its eyes fall upon Larry’s comatose figure. It remembers your kind words and gestures, how hard you’ve been fighting for its sake, and hangs its head in disgrace. You remind the duck of its pride and promised friendship. Boing bounces forward, backing the encouragement. Ducklett relaxes upon receiving such support, and bucks its head up. It’s time for it to finally defend its friends for once.

It marches determinedly down to the bank, intent on telling the bullies to knock it off. They complete ignore its presence however, and Ducklett fluffs in frustration. Taking your advice, it spreads its wings wide before trumpeting a war call and sprinting as fast as its little legs can carry it towards the leader. The guards move to block its way however, and Ducklett only ends up bumping beak-first into their legs. The Golduck snicker and simply try to stomp on the little duck, who squeals in panic. As a finisher, both Golduck grab an outstretched wing and bend it behind the bird’s back, who cries out painfully. It weakly surrenders, allowing the Golduck to sit successfully on top of its wingtips. Poor Ducklett only sighs pitifully, putting up zero resistance to being pinned. Seems it’s fairly used to this sort of treatment.

You hear more loud laughter, and look to see the leader holding Neptune’s shell, with the group gathered around it. It tosses the shell around its back, catching it casually in the other hand before spinning it like a basketball. Seems it’s recovered enough to perform a few tricks for its fans’ benefit. Neptune shows no response from within; you wonder if he’s already been inadvertently knocked out by all the hard knocks he received. Your blood boils, feeling somewhat of a fool to see almost all your friends easily beaten like this, using bizarre and bewildering methods no less.

The Golduck senses your ire and stops showing off for a moment. Suddenly it beams, hatching a new scheme. It points at you and your Pokémon, then at Ducklett, and finally towards the ice. Its eyes beckons you with a daring, competitive glare. Having grown bored of battle, the leader seems to be challenging you to a game of hockey to decide the victor instead. If you win, it will release Ducklett and give Neptune back.

Will you play the Golduck’s game?
Sorry for trolling updatees. Expect updates by weekend.

When Neptune evolved from his primary Squirtle form to a fearsome Wartortle, Cele was sure that victory was in his grasp. However, he was once again proven wrong by the gang of Golduck, who all of a sudden began using strange techniques that he was not aware they knew like Mud Bomb and Ice Beam. Larry had managed to land a fatal blow to the leader of the pack with Head Smash, but he had retaliated with a powerful Cross Chop, scoring a direct hit. Larry was a strong and sturdy Pokemon, but the sheer strength of the Fighting Move, collapsing on the floor. "Larry!" Cele yelled to the fallen Aron. He wanted to run up and give him some medicine, but with the fight still going on, it was dangerous to go out in the open.

Boing and Neptune stepped forward to avenge their fallen comrade, Boing acting first to try and blind the Golduck with a Flash. Unfortunately, the Golduck are a bit too intelligent for that, and close their eyes before bombarding the Bounce Pokemon with Mud Bombs all around him, blinding him. This caused his Charge Beam to be completely misaimed, fizzling out over the pond. Boing shamefully bounces back over to Cele, having been beaten. Neptune, however takes charge and rushes forward with a Dynamic Punch readied. He slams his fist into the leader's gut, who responds with a Counter, creating a huge explosion, knocking both Pokemon back.

Neptune lands on his feet luckily, while the Golduck, is not so lucky, landing on his back, his cronies laughing at him. He seeks to redeem himself, using Ice Beam to freeze over the pond. The Golduck seem to get the picture, and use Ice Bea, to help. They then surround Neptune, who retreats into his shell in fear. They grab his shell and begin playing a game of hockey with it. Cele begins to give Ducklett a pep talk, convincing it to help him. The Ducklett quacks a battle quack, before dashing at a Golduck with Wing Attack. Unfortunately, he is quickly held hostage by the stronger ducks. They challenge Cele to a game of hockey with Neptune as the puck. If they win, they will release Ducklett and Neptune. Cele has no choice but to accept, not wanting to harm Ducklett any more. But first, he rummages through his bag, until he pulls out a diamond shaped medicine, forcing it into Larry's mouth. Larry awakens and it is clear that the Revive 1/3 has worked to perfection. He then turns to the Golduck. "Fine, I'll play your stupid game. But you have to let me talk to Neptune first." he says. He takes another Revive 2/3 just in case Neptune's fainted and prepares to explain the situation to him, certain that he will understand. He also grabs two Pokeballs, releasing Nahkriin the Druddigon, and Silane the Venipede.

He then tries to negotiate even more with Golduck. "Druddigon will be used in the match, while Venipede will just watch." he explains to the Golduck. "Also I get to choose the rules. It will be a 3v3 match, first to seven wins. Boing, you're goalie. Nahkriin and Larry will be forward. Boing, translate for me." Cele says. Boing, having finally gotten the mud out of his eyes, translates to the Golduck. Cele waits for them to agree and for the match to start.

Squirtle Let the games begin!

Hey, guys. Just a heads-up that I'm starting school next week, so Updates will probably be slower. I'll try to maintain a speed of Updating at least every other week, but I can't make any guarantees. =x

Also, a reminder to everyone once again to please include a link to your profile with each post. Thank you.

Sky Gate

Shadowshocker – You cautiously consider the options, hardly able to focus under mounting anxiety. Only one thing remains clear – you have to protect your team no matter what. You can feel Murkrow staring at you from the shadows, and shudder, not wanting to take the risk of separating Doldrum from Jacob’s – or rather its sight. Perhaps it might’ve been willing to participate on its own for the boy’s sake, but you dare not ask that either.

Instead, you volunteer yourself and Arugulus, who salutes smartly and slithers to the starting station to wait for the send-off. Doldrum clatters with concern, but you assure him his task is best served by keeping Novawing company to provide back-up in case anything goes wrong. Taryn smiles as you step up to the stage and hands you a small weapon shaped similar to a Bellsprout. As the light, leafy weight rests in your palm, you feel delicate fingers follow as she shows you how to work the shooting mechanism. It apparently has an automatic option that allows it to fire freely without mouth movement or motivation, if you prefer. However, you are more aware of the slight shaking and coldness of her skin, though as she leans close, what she whispers causes an even greater chill.

“That boy… He’s not really alive, is he?”

You swivel in surprise, almost about to accidentally point the gun in her face. She quickly clasps your wrist however, covering the muzzle with her free hand rather than redirecting. Despite the less than optimal defensive stance she’s voluntarily(?) placed herself in, the strength of such a swift, single motion suggests she’s had some training in combat, calling back the theory you had that Jacob’s appearance reminded her of excruciating experiences. (In a way, it settles you to think that the disguise may only be obvious to those accustomed to seeing the dead. …Come to think of it, that category could now include yourself.) Something in her eyes suggests there’s more to the story than that though.

“Can you come see me later? Backstage by the bird show? By yourself. You can come while he’s watching my coworker.”

She smiles comfortingly for the crowd, then shoos you offstage before you can begin to question. As you walk to the shooting box in a daze, you realize belatedly that Taryn had been trying to protect the people by putting her own body before the bullet. She really was a devoted pacifist, deserving of a head peacekeeper position.

Despite trusting the woman’s judgment, you’re not sure what to make of her strangely accurate statement, not to mention the request for a private audience. This, in addition to Murkrow’s domineering glare, Jacob’s disquieting gaze, and moreover Doldrum’s distress, distracts you as the game commences. As Pika boosts buoyantly into the air, you panic and pull up the peashooter, wasting several seeds that whizz dangerously close to the hot air balloon in the distance. You blush as Taryn stares sternly, clearly wondering if she’ll have to have Alakazam keep close watch – if not complete control – over your trajectories after all. However, she seems to recognize some of it is her fault, and overlooks the loss of extra rounds as she beckons the next person come forward.

Feeling sheepish after that dismal first show, you try to calm down and plan your following strategy more carefully. Jacob smiles at you, clapping to congratulate the effort anyway. Seeing his hands move crookedly, never quite making firm contact, and the string still attached to them, compels – and consequently disconcerts – you even more. When your next turn comes, you boldly approach the range, take aim, and fire.

…Turns out you’re a terrible shot, even when prepared. Whether it’s because of the pressure to perform, the stress of the stakes, or simply sheer lack of coordination, your hand still shakes and misses its mark by a wide margin. It’s the same story each time you try. You begin to blame external factors, wondering if perhaps the pistol is faulty, or the game is rigged, but something in Taryn’s and even the competition’s exasperated expressions tells you that no, you just apparently really suck at this.

At least Jacob seems to be enthused, cheering truly despite the disappointments. Satisfying a single spectator was all that mattered anyway, so you’re glad to have at least achieved that goal. Still, you’d personally like to score at least one hit. There’s only one balloon remaining. Pikachu starts to prepare the parachute as he declines deeper into view. Gritting your teeth, you pull the trigger.

POP!

At the last moment, a decoy drifts lazily by, blocking the frame. Arugulus, ever alert, tracks the ticket as it falls. Coincidentally it lands right before his feet, but beyond touch. You’re too disheartened by the ruined perfect shot to care, cursing camera-hoggers, but Jacob jumps for joy as he swings a dizzy Doldrum around. The little boy hardly looks deceased anymore, bursting instead with life. You can’t help but beam a little as the next contestant makes an attempt, and succeeds at bringing down the last balloon. Pika pulls the preserver on cue, and Taryn signals everyone to wait until he’s touched down in the fairground. Everyone watches the descent with bated breath, ready to run after the bait themselves.

Taryn withdraws her signature whistle, which you remember seeing at the Hero’s Festival, and upon the shrill sound the second halves of each team scramble for priority. Arugulus immediately stoops to seize the prize you provided, though many others also had their eye on it. He slides barely ahead of them, snatching it out of play. Jacob shouts encouragement, and Arugulus pauses to proudly pose with his trophy… Only to result in nearly being trampled by a stampede of angry protesters. He clutches the ticket tight to prevent theft, but turns out they were merely rushing to claim the rest of the receipts. (Though brawling might’ve been prevented in part thanks to Taryn’s timely reminder that any use of violence will result in disqualification.)

Arugulus soon finds himself far behind, panicking as he hurries to pursue the pack. Once he’s slipped out of sight after a couple other stragglers, Taryn taps a monitor behind her to turn it on, key cameras placed over the fairground describing the action up close while Altaria (presumably) affords an aerial view. You and Jacob watch eagerly, spotting Arugulus on one of the screens. While he is unable to keep pace with bigger and faster Pokémon – or people, for that matter – his small size allows him to slither easily through the swarm, seeking any leftovers the others might’ve failed to notice in their haste.

Your pulse pumps. Not just your own. Looking down, you grow conscious of Jacob squeezing your hand. …On second thought, a dead person wouldn’t possess a pulse, would he? But for a moment, it’s as if blood is flowing through both of you.

A roar rides through the mass, and you glance up to see someone else has managed to pinpoint Pika first. Though it wasn’t your prerogative, Jacob senses a slight surge of envy stemming from your soul, and squeezes again. You squeeze back, and smile. You did your best. Which is what you also tell Arugulus when he regretfully returns with paltry pickings. Thanking him while Jacob pats the lizard’s head (who surprisingly doesn’t recoil), you take the three tickets up to Taryn, who greets you warmly.

“Good job! Don’t feel bad, you and your Pokémon did well, and won some pretty nice prizes to boot.” She winks, and you grin good-humoredly to acknowledge you’re both aware and accept the fact she means they’re merely booty prizes. As you step forward to receive them, she drops to a slightly serious tone again.

“Sorry if I startled you before. I hope you and your friends had fun anyway. I’m not sure what the situation is, but I just thought you might like to know a little more about… Him. I’ll be waiting you-know-where if you do want to hear.”

With that, she presents you with a Pretty Wing and a Cherish Ball. Her eyes then light upon the purple-colored slip Arugulus first picked up, the one you shot out of the sky. “Well, aren’t you lucky! You get to choose from one of our fine selections of Pokémon plushies!”

She shows you the shelf display, which includes a number of stuffed replicas among other toys and trinkets. The floor even seats a life-size Snorlax. However, your eyes fall upon a velvety violet sphere tucked in the back, small in surface area but voluminous. Two cords dangle over the side of the sill, gold hearts attached. A cross of identical color kisses its lips. At the top rests a tiny tuft of cloud.

The Drifloon doll stares silently at you, mouth taped shut. Still, you can imagine what it’s probably saying.

What will you do?

The Rose Arch

DaisyInari – You start to summon a meeting in your usual manner, then account and adjust for the sleeping Roserade, actually living up to your namesake for once. Lily listens to your plan and nods in approval, while Victor looks less than enthused at playing the villain again, especially since Lily places firm restrictions on how far he can go this time. He is about to raise a vine to protest when Lily shoots him a glare more venomous than any poison. Thinking better, he promptly lowers it.

With the roles settled, you quickly order everyone into position. Lily and Victor resume their act, while you and Sunshine lie down on the side of the road so as not to be in the way, but making sure to leave yourselves a good view of the stage. Even though you’re technically supposed to pretend to be unconscious and hence have your eyes closed, you don’t want to miss any of this. Man, if only you had some popcorn right now. Or a .gif of Michael Jackson eating some.

You all wait for Tuxedo Rose to rise gloriously and reign victorious over Victreebel. However, the minutes tick by, and nothing happens. Victor soon grows tired of holding his cousin aloft, and starts to sneak a vine towards the sleeping star in order to slap him awake. Lily notices this and fires a few petals in his face, forcing him to release her. She hikes up her skirt in a huff and marches over to Tuxedo Rose, gently poking his cheek to try and rouse him. He mumbles something in his sleep, and Sunshine giggles as she informs you he’s saying something about macaroni. She then wiggles out from your grasp and goes over to help Lily. Together, the two use leaves and cotton to tickle his nose, until finally he sneezes with almost as much force as the former tornatow, blowing Sunshine conveniently back into your arms.

Lily panics as Tuxedo Rose sits up with a start, and you silently usher her to return. Show’s starting! Places, people! She hurries back and Victor lifts her up, pausing just before his mouth, while you and Sunshine feign fainting. Tuxedo Rose glances around dazedly, soon spotting his lady in danger. He leaps to his feet, almost tripping over his cape, but quickly corrects himself and brandishes his bouquet at Victor. With a vocal battle cry partly interrupted by a cough, he charges forward.

Victor looks like he’s about to dodge or launch a counterattack, but Lily gives a small shake of her head. Sighing, he allows Tuxedo Rose to stick a small thorn in his side. Giving an exaggerated cry of pain, he keels over, releasing Lily. She runs into Tuxedo Rose’s arms, who looks confused by the easy KO but flashes a triumphant pose anyway, pulling his princess close. You hold your breath as he then bows down on one knee, kissing the fair flower’s leaf as he asks to share sun and water together, ‘till wilting do they part. Lily dabs at dewdrops as she pronounces “yes” (which you hardly need Sunshine to translate), while you feel a few roll down your cheek.

Forgetting you’re supposed to be conquered and therefore quiet, you pull some of the used tissues out of your pocket and blow your nose again (ew) before clapping loudly. Tuxedo Rose startles and stares at you, as Sunshine covers her face with a cloud. You and Lily smile sheepishly, while Tuxedo Rose looks back and forth in bewilderment. Victor groans with exasperation and gets to his roots, giving up the façade as soon as he realizes the gig is up. This causes Tuxedo Rose to appear both hurt and ashamed, looking ready to crawl under his cloak and disappear.

Lily quickly comes clean, then kisses him in an attempt to placate and convince he was still her hero. He always was. Tuxedo Rose blinks and blushes, accepting the compliment. He even agrees to hang up the cape and crusade to focus on their romance instead. Guess he wasn’t really cut out for the hero business anyway. (Sunshine tugs on your sleeve, and points out Mr. Rose appears to be crossing his stems behind his back. Hm.)

As the two gaze deep into each other’s eyes, Victor clears his throat. You sense tension between him and Rose as they glare at each other for a moment, the former disapproving, the latter distrusting. Finally, Lily shears between the boys and forces them to make up. They extend foliage and shake grudgingly, still glowering. You wonder if you should step in to help reconcile their relationship somehow, but a wink from Lily convinces you that she can handle them.

Leaves lovingly intertwined, Lily and Rose then turn to you with sincere thanks and another exciting proposal. Sunshine squeals as she translates to you:

“They want to know if we want to attend their wedding under the Arch! And if you’ll be their flower girl, and me, the maid of honor!” She swoons with delight. “Oh, can we go? Please please please? Don’t you want to be a FLOOOWER GIIIIIRL~?”

Do you do?

Cloud Forest

Charminions – Despite all the grief she’s given you, you agree to grant the girl yet one more favor. Turning to your two Pokémon, you order them to take the preceding and past as you walk with the child, reluctantly returning to what you are certain is a death sentence.

Despite your Pokémon’s protection, the girl looks even more uncomfortable being surrounded by both of them. You catch her often glancing back to check on Apollo, sometimes even hissing when he gets too close. What’s her problem? You wonder. …Suddenly, you feel a tug on your sleeve, light as a dandelion’s touch. Looking down, you find the girl clinging – dare you say cutely – to your clothes, keeping as far from either bodyguard as possible. Something in her genuinely fearful expression advises you not to insist the matter, and you silently nod at Apollo and Osage to keep their distance.

The four of you carefully circumnavigate the area where you shunned the swarm, hoping your footsteps fall far from their hearing. Eventually you arrive safely back at the clearing, where the fallen flowers still lie fresh. The girl sighs in relief and runs forward to grab her basket, scooping up all the treasures. You watch for a while as she works painstakingly, picking up every last precious petal. Partly out of kindness, but also impatience, you appoint Apollo and Osage to keep a lookout as you bend down to help.

As you reach for a particularly pretty blossom, your fingers encounter soft flesh. You retract immediately and shield your face, anticipating another punch. However, nothing happens. You peek through the fractures and find the girl withholding her face, but a hint of pink paints her cheeks as she fumbles for the flower, adding it to her stash. She mumbles as she turns away.

“Thanks.”

As you puzzle over this sudden change in behavior, you hear a mild buzzing from the bushes. You recall the wounded Combee. Could it bee…?

Apollo and Osage approach the green with caution, and at your confirmation, part the patch with their claws. Sure enough, there stirs the insect, wheezing pitifully but still surviving. The girl recoils at the sight, but you consider as you glance around for its comrades, who seem to have ditched it for dead. Perhaps it was worth coming back after all. This could be your chance to save another innocent life (not that the one before was so “innocent” to begin with).

What will you do?

The Fountain Garden

Talon87 & dosuser – Both of you approach the brats, ready to protect the poor Pokémon with your own. Morg immediately insinuates herself between the pair, trying her best to keep them at bay but clearly lacking confidence. Meanwhile, Enchantress flops frantically in the shallows, eager to give the little punks a piece of her mind but achieving nothing more than comic flailing, much like her trainer. The boy and girl stare at the splashing fish, then burst out laughing as the implication of the strange older woman’s threat sinks in.

“You’re gonna fight us with that thing? Yeah, sure, we’ll take you on.” The boy sneers.

“I dunno, two on one seems kinda unfair, especially against such a tiny fishy. We might make it into sushi.” The girl giggles, her tone suggesting she’s not terribly opposed to the idea. As soon as she finishes saying this, the Wooper accidentally rubs against her skin and sends her into hysterics again, raising her foot despite Morg’s presence and trying to stomp the slimy thing herself.

At this moment, Cyrus and his Chikorita arrive on the scene, and Morg throws a pleading look to the stranger for help, hoping he would be sympathetic to her- er, the Wooper’s plight. Wooper whimpers as it gazes between Morg and Cyrus, the latter heroically reaching out to try and put a stop to the girl’s frenzied footwork before the victim gets squashed.

“What, you got a problem too, buddy?” The boy addresses Cyrus insolently. “Perfect timing then. Want to join us for a double battle? Playing ball was getting boring anyway.”

So much for trying to get the two to return to their game. Cyrus sighs as he turns to the other person who physically stepped in, an impulsive action which perhaps already ruined their chances of settling things peacefully… And does a double-take when he realizes she’s sporting a sexy maid outfit. The children are aware of it too, and turn their taunts directly towards Morg.

“What are you anyway, some kind of crazy cosplayer?” The girl hides her obvious envy of the lady’s looks behind disgust. “Don’t tell me you’re actually a maid? Shouldn’t you be indoors cleaning then? Ooh, are you gonna beat us with a featherduster~?”

“Dude, shut up, she’s hot.” The boy has suddenly become distracted by a certain noticeable “area” around Morg’s chest.

“Hey, stop staring at her boobs!”

“At least she has them,” he snaps back bluntly, albeit appropriately, at his sister. Ooooh, burn. Grinning boldly, he nonchalantly starts to lift the side of Morg’s skirt to take a peek at what lies underneath, eliciting a yelp of surprise and further floundering as she turns dazedly desperately to Cyrus, begging for a strong man to save her from punching the little pervert. For a moment, Cyrus’s male mind believes he saw the hint of a blush and beautiful tears – albeit it’s a bit hard to tell since Celes has quickly covered her trainer’s eyes with her vines. Enchantress thrashes wildly with rage, but being unable to come up on shore there’s nothing she can do to defend the “damsel in distress”.

How will you react?

Rock Garden

blazeVA – Before the situation becomes rocky again, Marche punctuates the pair with a proposal. Pointing to you, he proudly esteems his trainer’s prowess and offers two of his partners to aid with protection. The stone Pokémon stare skeptically, not particularly impressed. After that performance, they seem to expect as much out of your training as your music. Despite loving the song, even Charlie suppresses a small snicker.

“No offense, guys, but you don’t look all that strong…”

Marche looks miffed, not taking kindly to being told he appears weak by a pipsqueak himself. He lifted the Ragnarock after all, didn’t he? If they want concrete proof of his strength… He puts the guitar down and puts up fisticuffs instead.

“COME AT ME, BRO.”

Charlie pales and pops immediately back into his shell. Bill looks about ready to take on Marche’s challenge, while Ian twirls his ‘stache thoughtfully.

“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, actually. No, not the “us fighting” part, goodness knows I won’t be seen engaging in such a ruthless activity. What if my beautiful moustache gets damaged?” The ends of said ‘stache twitch with great delicacy and pride, and you begin to wonder if that’s how he manages to play the keyboard, given the lack of any other appendages. In which case overprotectiveness would certainly be justified. You’d certainly pay top dollar to see him “tickle the ivories”, so to speak.

“However, our leader is always game for a good roughhousing. Even in his most… ‘Heavily influenced’ state. Tell you what. If you can best him on the condition of playing in the band tonight, we’ll accept your full proposal.”

Bill snorts. “In other words, beat him up and drag his berry-doped bum back here. I coulda done that myself.”

Ian waves the offer off. “That won’t be necessary. In the meantime, you and I can make arrangements with these ‘Heaven’s Devil’ characters.”

Charlie subtly pokes his head out of his shell and pipes up. “U-um, guys? What about me?”

Before Ian can respond, Bill sneers. “Listen, chuckles. Where we’re going ain’t no place for a little bug like you.”

Ian shoots Bill a look that suggests he’d like to stab the Bastardiodon with his ‘stache, before turning back to a shell-shocked Charlie. “What he means is: You can accompany the kid to guide him to Brian’s cave, and report on how he does.” (You’re not exactly sure whether by “kid” he’s referring to you or Marche. Come to think of it, they still haven’t asked your names, nor have you introduced yourself.)

Charlie cocks his head to the side. “Eh, but couldn’t Keith…?”

“Keith?” For a moment, the name seems to draw a blank, until Ian notices the Roggenrola standing silently by your side. “Oh, right. Er, well, this is official member business. We need a first-hand account of the fight, and your input is invaluable.” (Wait, official member business? What does that make Keith then? You wonder as you stare at the impassive rock.)

Despite clearly pulled out the (Probop)ass in your opinion, Charlie glows at the compliment and salutes. “Aye-aye! I’ll make sure to observe every detail! I promise not to let you guys down.”

Bill merely shrugs, growing restless. “Yeah, sure. Whatever.”

Ian nods. “Good, I know we can count on you. Now then, what say you two?” He turns to you and Marche.

What will your answer be?

RoseradeX – You close your eyes, letting darkness claim you. No, you are the one in control. You will beat this terrible beating, both of heart and of wings.

You command Vine to do the same, to listen. She tracks the parting of air, waiting for WINGs to draw close to ATTACK as she primes her tail in preparation…

SMACK!

You hear a horrible crack, followed by a screech. Your blood starts to pump again, but this time it is not from fear, but thrill. A smile creeps onto your face, a bit of brightness in the gloom. Light but dark. Though arbitrary, the glow seems to react to the affect, dancing in your direction. You freeze for a moment, caught red-faced in a headlight, illuminating the inappropriate display. You boldly bear the beam though, and brilliance reflects in it. Though still dim, it is enough to see by, so you open your eyes. No sense to deprive senses now, especially when you can use all the advantages afforded to you.

You suddenly notice Surskit is no longer by your side. Glancing in alarm, you find it has climbed onto a nearby rock. It seems to be swaying somewhat, own eyes still shut. Listening to the beat. Whose? It lifts its leg, and starts to conduct the currents, only with wind instead of water this time. Just by the sound, it can almost predict Zubat’s movements before it makes them, even when it ducks into the shadows. As if it were merely a puppet controlled by threads. A silent string instrument.

After receiving the first counter, Zubat has risen out of range, trying a more remote tactic. Surskit whispers a word to Vine, and she nods. She starts to clamber up on another high boulder, and you notice her shoulder appears injured, probably from the previous collision. So she did not escape unscathed. …The smile fades slightly.

Vine waits in position for Surskit’s cue, then makes a wild leap. For a brief beat you fear her estimate is off, but at the same time Zubat starts to dive, and Vine’s augmented attack contacts squarely with its back. It shrieks in pain, and your exhilaration flares again. A thump stimulates your chest, even stronger than before. Surskit startles and stares at you. Had it heard? To its strangely sensitive and perhaps selective hearing, Vine’s impact was probably nothing compared to the pounding beneath your sternum right now.

Meanwhile, Zubat flaps about in a panic, while Vine clings on for dear life, nearly running into several stalactites. Her steed suddenly twists around and sinks its POISONous FANGs into the rider, forcing her to scream and release. You run forward to catch her as she falls, stumbling blindly over stones. Still, she manages to slide safely onto your sleeves, and you clutch close to check her condition. To your horror, the venom appears to have already seeped deep into Vine’s veins.

*Treecko has been POISONed*

What will you do now?

Rainbow Waterfalls

Celebii151 – Before addressing the Golduck’s challenge, you pull out a pointed pill and pop it into Larry’s jaw, perfecting his health (or at least half) again. You then release two more of your Pokémon: dragon and centipede, a divergent pair. You appoint Nahkrinn to join Larry and Boing on the ice, while commanding Silane to side with the rink’s line. Turning to Boing, you ask him to translate your conditions to the leader, who listens intently for a moment before nodding with smug approval. It also raises a flipper and quacks twice, which Boing communicates back to you. Apparently it also wants to add that attacks, and subsequently substitutions, are allowed. You gulp as you realize the implication of the last stipulation, which means that basically any form of foul is permitted, even if it results in fainting. …Well, you suppose it wouldn’t rightly be a hockey game unless it included fighting. The Golduck grins as you grudgingly accept.

Jerking its thumb, it fires three of its cronies off the field, leaving the same number behind. It also barks for them to bring the battered puck, which they bowl unceremoniously at your feet as if they were pins. You have no choice but to quickly catch him with your heel like a kickball. Sighing as you ignore the mocking claps and cackles, you bend down to check on Neptune, tapping lightly on his turtle top before peering into the hole. No response. It’s a bit hard to discern his expression through the darkness, but sure enough, he seems to have blacked out from all the spinning. You slip the second Revive into his shell, and soon the swirls vanish from his eyes.

He pops his head out and gazes at the surroundings blearily. You shortly explain the situation, pointing to poor Ducklett to stress the stakes and importance of this sacrifice. Neptune nods and bravely salutes, WITHDRAWing immediately back into his shell. He hides deep within, heightening his defenses this time with the prior knowledge that things could get bumpy.

Pre-game pep talk complete, your team breaks, pumped to beat the other and reclaim its dignity (oh, and rescue Ducklett, of course). The Pokémon progress to take their places on the ice, although as soon as they encounter the slippery substance much of their hotheaded bravado melts – or rather freezes – as they blunder about. Larry especially appears to have difficulty coordinating all four of his little legs at once, crissing and crossing as he bumps accidentally bumps into Nahkrinn, causing a chain reaction as she then collapses on top of Boing, who squeals as he’s squished against the surface. The Golduck laugh uproariously, and you facepalm as a few curious fishes swim up to investigate the peculiar pile blocking the sun above their home. Perhaps this wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Eventually the group manages to sort themselves however, and grow sufficiently adjusted to the feeling of skating, even if they don’t quite grasp the finer points of the sport. They might not be able to make beautiful figure eights, but they can at least figure out how to get where they want to go. Nahkrinn and Larry shuffle forward to the center, while Boing bounces back towards the goal, careful to keep completely upright on each rebound. Even when standing still, any slight tilt in axis could cause his balance to slide.

Meanwhile, you and the Golduck leader remain on the edge, both of the rink and your proverbial seats. Clearly your roles are to act as coaches. One of the benched Golduck grabs Neptune before you can react and glides gracefully out to the center, inscribing a circle around Nahkrinn and Larry to show off its skills in comparison, much to their annoyance. The leader smiles at the display but snaps its fingers to get on with it, and the underling obliges, positioning the puck directly between the two teams. The leader turns to you, waiting for your confirmation and perhaps announcement of tactical tips before putting it into play. For all its abrasiveness, it certainly seems to want to host a fair match.

What will your strategy be?

The Oasis

Kori Gotcha – Stuck between sand and… Well, more sand, the choice seems obvious. Even if you were to turn back now, there’s no guarantee you’d make it back to the boat. Perhaps the professor ought to have thought this plan through a bit more. Still, not even this dilemma will deter. You dreamed of a daring, dangerous adventure, and this doorway will surely lead you to one. …Either that or death.

Screw Scylla and the stronger – but still slim – chances of safety. Charybdis calls! You summon Lee back into his ball, and stride bravely into the center of the swirl, feeling the sand stick to your clothes. When the surface rises to your waist and prevents even wading, you begin to wonder if maybe this was such a good idea. You can only wait as the sand stretches up to your neck, sweat seeping slowly down your body like beads in an hourglass. When it covers your mouth and nose, panic grips and you start to flail, but it’s far too late. Struggling only speeds the suction. Soon, your eyes are overwhelmed by darkness and dust.

“Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”
– Alexander Pope, An Essay on Criticism

Finally, forward force frees from foxhole. Flavor failed fulfill? Feh. Forgive fussy feeder? Fat fortune.

Focus. First, form findings. Flat, fiery field faithfully familiar… Fairly? Fine filth flowing from fingers feels faint, fleeting. Fictitious. Film-like. Fake.

Forget falseness, face facts. Feeling fine, fit. (Phew.) Few feet far, fright found. Fallen figure. Fleshless. Featureless. Frozen fragments. …Further, furless friend.

Feathered finery furnishes figure, filaments flex frame. Figure’s fist folded. Furled file fills fist.

Fetch file? Finery?

Update #39 (08/30/2012)

Sky Gate
biggggg5:
The lady responds to you as Zigzagoon rams into Hotstuff again with Tackle. "That paper is suppose to be a treasure map to one of the oldest sections of the Cloud Forest, was planning on going there eventually but have never found someone interested to go on a wild goose chase." She laughs as she says that, with Hotstuff slashing the Zigzagoon across the face once again with Cut, making it yelp in pain as it is struck, the paper slipping through his teeth until it finally flies from its mouth and towards you and the lady. She quickly runs to the paper on the floor and grabs it, with the Zigzagoon trying to get back the paper, but is blocked by Hotstuff, "Thank you so much! You don't know how much I appreciate this!" She gives you a quick hug and as soon as she lets go she continues, "That Zigzagoon? No, it's a wild one, always harassing people and stealing things. We've been trying to capture it for a while to bring it to the shelter but we've been unsuccessful. If you are not planning on doing anything with it, I think I'll take it there. Name is Krys by the way." She extends her hand to you as Hotstuff spits out a wave of red energy towards the Zigzagoon, making it yelp as the attack makes contact with its fur. The Heat Wave takes a good chunk of health away from the Zigzagoon but it doesn't seem like it is ready to back down yet as it sends a pawful of dirt towards Hotstuff, lowering his accuracy as the Sand-Attack gets into his eyes.

"Fine catch up to me later if you want, though you might miss out on the Clefairy treasures!" You can tell by his voice that he is quite upset but it looks like the Swablu's request is more important for now. The Swablu looks back at you while flying across the beautiful fields, looking quite happy that you decided to follow it, with it's cotton wings flapping every few seconds to maintain itself in flight. It isn't long until you see a few rather large rocks ahead, and it seems that is what Swablu wants you to take a look at, as it lands right in from of them, waiting for you to catch up to it. You then see why the Swablu wanted you to come, a Pichu seems to be trapped in between two of the huge rocks, almost unconscious as it looks at you, "Piiii...?" it says, its voice weak and faded. You try to move the huge rocks that have the little electric rat trapped but they don't budge. The Swablu looks at you with a sad face, unable to do anything for the Pichu itself. Looks like you are going to need to think of a way to help the Pichu out of those rocks...

Cloud Forest
MarbleZone: Look back here.

Nagasaki: "Thanks Nagasaki, I'll heal her up in no time!" Ponyta gallops back to her trainer just as Blazer begins to Focus Energy, raising both his attack and accuracy, preparing to cover the recovering pony from any attacks. One of the Nidoran starts to spit out Poison Stings at Blazer, which stick on the ground as he manages to dodge the attack. While on the air from jumping away from the attack, the other Nidoran Scratches him across the body, making him land almost instantly after being hit. He bounces back and unleashes a Night Slash on the nearest Nidoran, which seems to take a very good chunk of health away with the earlier attack boosts, while the other Nidoran attacks Blazer from the side by Pecking him for some light damage. Ponyta neighs, signaling that she is ready to continue the fight, looking healthier than before, but also starting to look tired. "Ponyta, help out Blazer by using Ember on the Nidoran's!" Ponyta then spits out another round of small fireballs at both the Nidoran, one of which gets hit by the Ember while the other jumps out of the way in time to evade it. The one that evaded the flames is then struck by Blazer's Night Slash, which takes a nice amount of health away from it. Both Nidoran took heavy damage and look like they are about to faint, but both Ponyta and Blazer look like they'll collapse from being tired any second as well. "Okay, it won't take much more to finish this battle, make sure you're able to knock out the Nidoran before Blazer becomes too tired to fight. I'll handle one of the Nidoran while you take care of the other. Shouldn't be too much trouble anymore."

What will you do?

Thrain: Look back here.

ChaoticHell83: Leavanny doesn't seem like she is ready to give up anytime soon, then again neither is Gaius. A yellow net is sent towards Gaius, cackling with electric energy. Gaius manages to evade the Electro Web after waiting for the right moment to move away with Quick Attack, and slamming into the Leavanny afterwards, taking a little more health away. Leavanny starts to glow as energy starts to leave Gaius' body, making him weaker little by little. Gaius manages to gather enough energy to stop the immobilizing Giga Drain, and then continues by punching it with a steel filled energy claw as he Bullet Punches the Leavanny, stopping the draining attack from continuing, although it managed to regain a bit of health an energy with the Giga Drain. "Come on, you can do this Leavanny!" Leavanny nods at her trainer, and starts to glow white as she tries to turn light into health. It doesn't seem like Gaius will let this Synthesis be used to the fullest as he once again disappears and Quick Attacks the Leavanny, interrupting the recovery process. The Leavanny seems to be panting quite heavily now, while Gaius is looking really tired, both Pokémon fighting as hard as they can.

"Hello Krys, My name is Big and that is my Charmander Hotstuff." Big introduces himself and shakes the girl's hand. "Don't worry about the zigzagoon. I will take it off your hands if I can." He turns back to the battle "Hotstuff we can let loose now that the map is safe. Try two more heat waves, it is your most widespread attack so it should be able to hit it even if your accuracy is reduced. Then you should take a quick break to gather yourself." Big suddenly processes the rest of what Krys had said Treasure..? cloud forest..? Sounds interesting. "I could go to the cloud forest and look for the treasure with you after I heal my Pokemon if you want. I was going to look for a grass type anyway and I heard that nearly every type lives there." Big offers the girl.

Update #40 (08/31/2012)

If anyone wants or is interested, I can do quick updates for the next 10 hours. (Since I have nothing to do while I wait anyway =p) So reply away if you are interested and will update as soon as possible!

Sky Gate
biggggg5:
"Really?" the girl's eyes light up as you offer, "I would love to get a chance to actually see if the treasure is real!" Excitement fills the girl, who seems to have a million thoughts in her head, and before you can respond she says, "Okay, I'll gather everything we are going to need, and I'll meet you in the square, shouldn't take that long!" But before you get a chance to respond, she runs off. Meanwhile the battle seems to be heating up once gain, as Hotstuff releases another blast of extremely hot air and flames towards the Zigzagoon. The Heat Wave hits the Zigzagoon head on, making it yelp as the wave passes through it. It shakes its head for a second before rushing at Hotstuff once again, ramming into him once again with another Tackle. Hotstuff takes a few steps back with the force of the Tackle, but releases another Heat Wave almost instantly at the raccoon, hitting it once again to take another small chunk of health. While the attack took quite a bit of health away from the Zigzagoon, it charges at Hotstuff again, head lowered this time. He tries to dodge the incoming Headbutt but gets hit in the same side as before, almost doubling over in pain. He slowly recovers from the attack but it doesn't look like either Pokémon will give up anytime soon...
