Beginner Trainer Battle: Itzatrap vs. YDT

The sun beamed down upon two trainers who peered up into the sky. The clouds concealed something, a floating castle so very rare that is was an honour and luck to be able to set eyes upon it. Walking through the rolling green hills they encounter a long wooden bridge, had it always been there? The bridge appeared to slowly arch up into the sky as if held up by invisible string, was it safe to walk upon? It was the only way into the castle and so they bite back their doubts and take one step at a time. They have a chance to catch up and enjoy the spectacular views before the enter the clouds and come to a stop before the majestic King's Castle. The enormous drawbridge allowing entry to the courtyard, their arena in this building.

Beautiful rose bushes line the walls of the courtyard and in its centre sat an elegant fountain, its centrepiece a regal Kingdra firing water from its spout. The referee sat by the fountain staring at the guards as they went about their duties before she noticed the pair. She quickly gets up and approaches them brushing down her dress before gesturing wildly with her arms.

"Welcome to this grand stage, a perfect arena for battle. There will be spectators watching you so don't be put off. It's an honour to be allowed to battle here so please treat the grounds with respect they deserve otherwise there is a nasty surprise waiting for your and your Pokemon. Now for the rules".

Arena: Kumo City's King's Castle: The courtyard of this majestic castle floating in the clouds is approximately 50m x 50m wide. Rose bushes and thorny hedges line the walls of the courtyard while at the very centre stands a Kingdra fountain. It is forbidden to damage the castle or its grounds in any way, so if you do the guards Arcanine will be quick to intervene.

She allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned Itzatrap to Heads and YDT to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Tails".
Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play:

– I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round (I am happy with up to 3 being used per round)
- I will then ref the first round.
- YDT will then order their attacks for the next round.
- Itzatrap then orders their attacks.
- I ref the round, and the next round attack orders switch and so on and so forth till we have a winner!

A Dragon Ball rested on this young trainer's belt. He grabbed it and looked at it for a second, "I know you can do this Dana". He then released the energetic dragon whose home was in the ball. Rob and Dana looked at the beautiful field that they had before them, and looked at the advantages they could get from it in battle. That is until they heard the warning on damaging the grounds. "We wouldn't do that, would we Dana?" nervous chuckling escape the trainers mouth. The dragon responded with a grunt, clearly not happy she was restricted from using the field to the fullest. Nonetheless she was ready to battle.


"Okay Dana, use two Sand-Attack! Follow it up by grabbing and slamming it into the ground with Strength! Show them how strong you are, we need to give the spectators a show afterall."

Bio: Niles met Zoomer while hiking through the woods one day. He saw the Ralts sleeping on the grassy floor next to a bush and before the Ralts could react Niles picked him up and brought him to his home. Later that day Niles found a Poke-ball and forced Zoomer inside of it. Zoomer prefers to think things through, and tries to keep Niles out of trouble. Still he is rather shy and isn't too comfortable with out right stopping Niles.

Niles looked around at the Castle grounds, awed by the beauty of the lush garden surrounding the stands. He looked back at the clouds behind the main door, still confused at how this place managed to be up here. He took another look around and noticed a Kingdra fountain. He stared at enviously, he loved dragon types a lot, and this one was the dragon of the sea. Nothing could more cool and mysterious at the same time. Niles reached for Zoomer's ball and threw it at the ground. The Ralt's popped out and immediately tensed up at the sight of so many people surrounding him. Zoomer gulped and gave an intense stare at his opponent.

"Zoomer let's do it just like we practiced! Start off by throwing him away with a Confusion, quickly followed up by a Confuse Ray and finish it off with a metronome!" Niles commanded with a big smile, he was excited for this match. His adrenaline was starting to go.

Both trainers were in awe of their chosen arena, it sure was elegant and beautiful and big too. They were right to be wary of the guard Arcanine who had their watchful eyes upon the trainers should they order any attacks that would damage their wonderful home. Both trainers take to their boxed lined with white and red roses before revealing their Pokemon. For Rob is was his faithful Gible called Dana, this was not their first trainer battle together so they were pumped about the upcoming match. Niles was a little more nervous as this was his first trainer battle but he had faith in his chosen Pokemon, his starter, a Ralts called Zoomer. Zoomer was nervous by the spectators staring down at him but he took a deep breath and stared right at his opponent. The referee raises her hand and a chorus of trumpets sound, the battle had begun!

Both Pokemon are similarly matched in speed so move in time with one another. Dana starts kicking at the cobbled stones on the ground trying to get enough grit and dirt for a Sand Attack but unfortunately her her the courtyard is very well kept and cleaned regularly so she can hardly get the sand together to attack. Zoomer meanwhile concentrates hard and a thin blue beam of Confusion closes the gap between him and his foe entering her mind causing mental pain. Dana shakes her head the mild headache leaving as she makes one more attempt at a Sand Attack but again it fails, it looks like that attack is not going to be of any use in this arena!

Zoomer feels a little more confident as his opponent fails in her moves and lets loose a bright multi-coloured beam of Confuse Ray that hit Dana right between the eyes. Her tongue hangs out of her huge mouth and a glazed look enters her eyes, oh dear. Dana looks about for the Ralts, she had to attack it she remembers that much. She goes toddling off and right into the wall falling back holding her face ... ouchies. Zoomer moves to his last attack, a completely random and sometimes dangerous Metronome. His arms wag back and forth as he calls on the goddess of luck. Soon orbs of Hidden Power surround him filled with Psychic energy before he launches them at the confused Dana who yelps and holds her back, a sneaky attack for sure, where did that come from?

Niles smiled at the outcomes of the beginning of the battle. Zoomer was completely unharmed, which was very relieving. All of the Gible's moves have been rendered completely useless and Zoomer keeps on hitting. Niles takes a second to concentrate and think of a new plan, with their advantageous situation.

"Zoomer, start off with a growl! Then use two Confusions to deal some serious damage!" Niles ordered, with a big smile. He was very proud of himself, even if this was a rather simplistic strategy.

Try to grab the Ralts and slam him towards the thorny hedges in the nearest edge of the field with Strength three times.

Both Niles and Zoomer began to relax as they battle commenced and even felt a little thrill of excitement as they ended up on top at the end of the first round. Rob didn't look concerned, it was only early days after-all. The orders are given and Zoomer begins with a Growl but the confused Dana ignores it, her head pounding and with her back to the Ralts she can't experience the full effect. She turns around knowing that she's supposed to be doing something but can't remember what it is. She trips over her feet and faceplants the floor grimacing as she smushes her face against the cobbles.

Zoomer giggles at the antics of his foe despite his failed move and moves onto the next. He sends a thin blue beam of Confusion towards the already confused Gible giving her a royal headache. She picks herself up and stares right at the Ralts, so that was who attacked her. She charges towards Zoomer and picks him up before turning back around and slamming her into the thorny bushes in a show of Strength. Zoomer groans in pain and rolls off the crumpled bush pulling thorns out of his skin.

Zoomer gives Dana another headache with his last Confusion and she seems to full snap out of her confusion. She grins and grabs the Ralts again, Zoomer looking alarmed, and throws him back down into the rose bushes dealing more damage to him and the bushes. The Arcanine bark from within the shadows and the dueling Pokemon's gazes are drawn to them. It seemed they were issuing a warning. They had been close to the award winning rose bushes, if they damaged those they would not hold back.

You're doing great Dana! Slam the Ralts towards the middle of the field with Strength! Then hit it with two Dragon Rage!

Niles cringes as he sees Zoomer thrown into the thorny bushes. He growls when he sees it happen again. Suddenly Niles hears the guards barking from a distance. 'Do they even care about my Pokemon at all!' Niles thought angrily as he barked back at them. Zoomer shivered a bit at the said of the barks and a bit more at Niles responding. He did not want to mess with those big things.

"Zoomer trip her up with a grass knot! Follow it up with a Double Team and then another Confuse Ray!" Niles ordered, not wanting Zoomer to get hurt anymore.

Both Pokemon remained evenly matched as they showed off their physical strength and their mental powers. The Arcanine were ever vigilant and Dana had already had a verbal warning, if she was not careful with her attacks they wouldn't remain so silent. Dana starts of the 3rd round by grabbing onto Zoomer lifting him above her shoulder and running towards the centre of the arena and throwing him into the ground with her Strength. Zoomer is beginning to feel a bit sore from all the impacts he had taken. He picks himself back up brushing off his front before his eyes glow green. He looks towards the thorny bushes lining the arena and a couple of vines begin to snake their way across the cobbled stones. Dana is too distracted with powering up her next attack, charging up a Dragon Rage as the vines wrap around her feet before tightening. Dana's eyes go comically wide as the Grass Knot] trips her up making her smash her face into the floor and cancelling out her attack.

Dana pushes off the ground to see Zoomer back and forth quickly on the spot generating 2 copies with his Double Team. Now Dana had 3 targets to aim for, lets hope she hit the right one. She charges up another Dragon Rage and fires it missing Zoomer and destroying a clone, she is very disappointed with that. Zoomer fires off a multi-coloured beam of light towards Dana catching her in the face once again confusing her.

Niles smiled as the Gible fell on it's face. Though Zoomer did get hit once, a good defense has been set up. Just need to figure out a way to finish this soon, as Zoomer was starting to look a bit tired. Niles was out of any relatively good ideas, so he decided now would be a good time to start muscling it out.

"Zoomer start off with a Signal Beam, then another Signal Beam and let's hope for something good with a Metronome!" Niles commanded, Zoomer nodded trying to get a bit more aggressive.

Dana, try to Dodge both Signal Beam to the best of your ability, then Tackle the Ralts to find the real one!

Dana had the lead on Zoomer on health and energy levels but being confused again was definitely going to have an affect on her this round. Niles was proud with how his starter was faring but decided it was time to go all out with some heavy hitting moves. Rob was going to be more conservative given his Pokemon's condition and try to avoid all hits thrown at Dana.

Zoomer's eyes glow before he fires a rainbow coloured Signal Beam at Dana. She hears her trainer's orders but her confused brain can't register them quickly enough to dodge the attack and she goes sprawling along the ground as she's hit. Zoomer feeling more confident now prepares a second attack and the rainbow orbs forms before his eyes once more. Rob is desperateness calling out his Pokemon now begging her to dodge but she's so far out of it she doesn't recognise his voice anymore. Zoomer lets his second Signal Beam fly knocking her further away from him and towards his trainer.

Dana picks herself back up staring at her trainer the confusion still present in her eyes and Rob tries to reason with her. Her eyes seem to show clarity for a moment and she nods at his last order before she turns to see both Zoomers waving their arms back and forth calling on their luck once more. She charges towards the pair hoping to Tackle the correct Ralts before he can execute his move. Unfortunately for her, before she reaches she finds her momentum halted. She stares down at her feet seeing a blue glow surrounding her body. She screams as she's thrown backwards with the power of the Psychic and into the wall with a crack before she falls back to the ground.

Zoomer had a brilliant round this time but was looking tired, could he finish off the Gible before he ran out of steam. Could Dana work her way back into the match?

Niles snarled at the sight of Zoomer getting hit again. He then stares in awe at the powerful move that Zoomer gets, pretty lucky. That Gible was looking pretty up, but Zoomer was rather tired. Niles decided now would be a good time to conserve energy, 'well they did only seem to get angry about the rosebushes...' he thought to himself.

"Zoomer Teleport on top of the fountain to dodge the first rage! After jump down from the fountain, opposite the side of the Gible, to shield yourself from the second one. Follow it up with getting out of the water and using another Metronome!" Niles directed. Was rather risky and if Zoomer got anything to powerful, he just might faint.

It was like a mirror image with both Pokemon having health and energy levels opposite to one another. Both were aware the dangers their Pokemon faced in being KO'd. Both are planning to be evasive to avoid hits and save energy. Dana stares down Zoomer waiting for him to make a move and Zoomer stand ready to dodge the next move thrown. They appear to be at a standstiil, a stalemate neither ready to move first. Dana, after a minute of standing there doing nothing sighs and powers up her first attack. The fiery ball of Dragon Rage forms in her mouth and she shoots it towards Zoomer who Teleports out of danger to land precariously on top of the fountain. He hangs on tight to the Kindgra statue and hears the growls of the Arcanine as they watch with clear interest.

Dana looks around before spotting the Ralts on the fountain and feels sweat run down her head. She knew not to aim at the fountain but with her target atop it what else could she do! She fires her second Dragon Rage at Zoomer who tries to jump off the statue but falls off it instead landing in the water with s plash scratching his body in the fall. The fire ball skims the top of the statue leaving char marks and an Arcanine leaps before Dana who looks afraid. It Roars in her face leaving her terrified and unable to move. She's now a sitting duck for Zoomer's attack. He swims out of the fountain to sit on its rim rubbing his scratches his face showing how sore they were.

He wags his arms back and forth using his Metronome before a blade of energy forms along his right arm. He grins and begins to run towards the terrified Dana along with his double with all his speed before whirling around and slashing her with his Sacred Sword.

"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" Niles yells as he hits his own head. He should've known that fall would hurt Zoomer. Niles hears the barking aimed at the Gible, and gets a bit confused. He notices the scorch marks on top of the fountain and whacks himself on the head again. He was getting everything wrong. As he looked up again he saw Zoomer slashing at the gible with a sword. Niles smiled a bit, that was pretty cool. Yet the uncharacteristic grin Zoomer has while doing so is rather creepy, he is usually rather peaceful. After the strike Niles sees Zoomer completely exhuasted, he has barely any energy left. The other Pokemon looked like it was almost about to faint.

"Zoomer use Confusion on the Gible!" Niles ordered. This was the only thing left he could do, and would probably decide the match.

Dana, Safeguard against the Confusion!

Both Pokemon were on their last legs. Zoomer was so exhausted it seemed that he wouldn't be able to attack more longer. Dana had take too much damage and was bruised and battered, another mild hit and she's be a goner. Zoomer uses his precious energy to send a blue beam of Confusion towards Dana feeling his energy levels nearly hit zero but as the attack approaches Dana a glowing green Safeguard appears protecting her from the attack. Zoomer looks distraught, he doesn't have it in him to attack again!

"Uhh... Zoomer, sit down for a little bit and try to get some energy back." Niles told him. He really didn't think Zoomer had energy to do anything else. He doubted sitting down would actually give him any energy, but at least it was more relaxing than standing and that would be nice considering how tired he was.

WIth not much choice Zoomer sits on the ground hoping that taking a breather would help improve his energy levels. He feels a tiny bit better but it was doubtful he could regain enough energy to make a difference. Dana does nothing also as she receives no attacks to deflect.

'Well he looks like he is about to fall asleep, at least he has no chance of fainting from injuries. Exhaustion just means he's tired, like a work out, guess that's acceptable.' Niles rationalized in his head, as Zoomer was almost falling over with tiredness.

"Zoomer use Metronome! If for some reason you still aren't too exhausted after that use another Metronome!" Niles ordered, he just wanted to get this over with. Zoomer had been through a lot today.

[Itzatrap]

Dana, use Safeguard against whatever is produced by the Metronome. Should it have energy for another, prepare to Dodge whatever attack comes at you.

Niles has nothing left to do but act and order an attack. Zoomer takes a deep breath hoping it would help with his energy levels and he begins his Metronome and his hand begins to glow. He leaps at Dan with his Brick Break and he slams into her glowing green Safeguard shield. He bounces off and falls to the ground exhausted beyond belief and unable to continue on.

"Zoomer is unable to battle, Dana and Rob are the winners!"

The crowd applaud the wonderful battle they had been fortunate enough to witness.

Rob ran to Dana's side, and rested her head on his knee after he knelt down beside her. She looked beyond tired and hurt. "Great job Dana, take a nice long rest." The land shark coughed a little with a smile. Clearly the battle had taken a toll on her. The trainer took the Dragon Ball resting on his belt and then it absorbed the dragon back to take a nice long rest.

He then turned towards Niles and Zoomer, "Hope we can do this again sometime. We'll get even stronger next time!" The trainer extended his open hand to shake Niles' hand.

As Zoomer collapses Niles runs over to him. He quickly checks him over for any bad injuries and sighs with relief. 'He had a good work out, he definitely needs some sleep' Niles thought to himself. Niles notices the other trainer come up to him and sticks out his hand.

"That was a lot of fun! I'm totally up for another battle some time! My name is Niles! What's yours? You have an awesome Gible!" Niles quickly blurted out as he shook the other trainer's hand. He then jolted out of them gym, seeing something interesting off in the distance.

OoC: Arc you did a great job reffing and it was really fun battling you Itza. Hope we get to do this again.
