An addendum, due to erroneous information on Veekun and elsewhere. This who actually gets Magic Coat/Role Play and who doesn't. Consider this official. Okay, quick question. Surfing Pikachu - Banned or Not? And could it be extended to Flaaffy?

I think (don't quote me on this) surfing Pikachu is allowed (although flying is definitely not). I imagine surfing Flaaffy would be allowed if y'know, Flaaffy ever learnt surf in any game.

This is not "will my sig pass". That's what squad submissions is for. Try it and see rather than spamming up the place.

I was seeing if surfing Pikachu was viable to see if I should even try Flaaffy's sig move.

Pikachu gets Surf legitimately so it's allowed. For putting moves onto non-natural pokes you'll just have to try your luck.

The only legit moves that aren't being allowed are Flying Pikachu and Transforming Eevee. And Teleporting Steelix. Though I can't find the latter two anywhere.

Yeah, to my knowledge, the latter two were simply errors on the PASBL site.

So, what about Dream World moves? Do we wait for B&W's Spring (not Japanese) release?

I've looked over Dream World moves and there are next to no Pokemon who get new moves from it. Practically every move is a defunct TM, Tutor or Egg Move that the developers are nice enough to give back to the 'mon.

But if there are, no, you have to wait for English release. You can use them before we release the Gen V Pokes (at least that's how we treated DPPt), but English release is needed first.

Out of interest, why is /that we can't use the Gen V pokémon and moves as soon as we know the English names?

Writing the movelist, really. SCs can come later and we usually need a good bit of anime before we can do them anyway. But if you don't have the moves, most of the new Pokemon are next to useless.

I had the idea that BW pokes get allowed with just Gen I-IV moves, since there's not a load missing, but then realised it probably wouldn't pass.

Still, might as well put it forward. Can't hurt to try, right?

Right?

The man's got a point. Aside from the new type combinations, the lack of specharacs for even Generation III mon gives new additions absolutely nothing original to the league that may constitute gamebreaking.

Not to say I demand IMMEDIATE addition. (Shock horror at Shadow voiding popular opinion once again!) Just the usual proving of points.

>the lack of specharacs

...obviously, no one reads my posts.

I wrote, posted, and made official a batch of SCs for every Pokemon through Gen IV, save for a few that got left off the list Kuno made.

Right. I tend to forget that you have a say in these things, Jeri. I can't imagine why I automatically ignore that in such contemplations.

In any case, the sheer lack of movepool for GenV (no thanks to the crazy revamped TM list) will mean we're all waiting for Pokemon Grey.

Dude. They called me crazy for suggesting we start planning out the moves in advance. You're about to be eaten alive.

There's a big difference between suggesting we implement the Pokemon we have all seen versus the implementation of attacks of which we have absolutely no idea how they work. I mean, we have to wait for the anime, essentially, since that's what our system is based off of. On SPP there was even a tournament with the then-recently released fourth gen Pokemon; the attacks weren't usable though. In fact, their names were still Japanese! Dave's suggestion is far less ludicrous than your's.

With certain things it makes sense. For others it makes less sense. I'm prepared to wait, it's just that some stuff doesn't happen in this league for the singular reason that the LOs as a whole don't get around to it. Wanna make sure that won't happen this time

I fail to see the similarity. The only problems I can see arising are the acquisition levels for 'mon like Ghidora and Chandalier, but that's for another thread I should start writing.

I have the feeling this isn't at all relavent to this thread now, so I'll shut up. Just figure it can't hurt if we just introduce new 'mon without new attacks.

Want my Centipede, dammit.

...It seems you didn't understand me.

I hadn't said we should implement the attacks- I had said that we start PLANNING how they work, and change them if and when we see anime evidence to the contrary.

Besides, what's that you say about disregarding the anime? Screw that, we all know Mozz does that anyway.
