Omanyte UPN PASBL: S_M vs. DaveTheFishGuy

*checks forum*
Let's try this again. Here we are, one and all, at the Wulong forest, where Dave and S_M will have an epic match of rematchiness. Both S_M and Dave have knocked me around like an invertebrate in GAME matches, and they've also been super awesome refs for me in the past. Alrighty, stats and arena:

Wulong Forest

Wulong Forest (Outdoor Advanced Arena): An advanced level arena, not recommended for novice referees or trainers. This is essentially the battlefield from the Avatar: The Last Airbender finale, in which Aang fought against Fire Lord Ozai. There are distinct areas of the arena. The battle can spill over into other areas.
Cliff: The inland boundary of the arena, a sharp cliff face with a waterfall running down it. The waterfall leads to the river.
Rock Pillars: The default starting area. Massive rock pillars rise around 100 feet into the air. There are many too many pillars to count, are approximately 20 feet from each other, and each have a diameter of around 10 feet. A river cuts through the base of the Pillars, where there is a base of solid rock.
Forest: Between the Rock Pillars and the Ocean is a Forest. Which is a normal Forest. Forest Fire may be in effect, chosen by the trainers and/or referee. Two rivers run through the forest, spawning from a moderately large lake at the border of the Rocks.
Ocean: At the edge of the Forest is a rocky beach which leads to the ocean. Pokemon may battle here.
Special Rules: Stone Pillars (stronger than usual, somewhat farther apart), River, Rainforest
Optional Special Rules: Weather (Heat Wave: Forest Fire), Twilight, Red Sky (sky is red)
Groovy. We'll be starting at the rock pillars if that's alright with everyone, and you guys know the order so let's get rolling.
Squad from S_M, please.

YES PILLARS

GOOD LUCK DAVE

THANKS AWB

Jet: Female Togekiss (Level 5)
Bio: Quite possibly the most trusted of my squad, Jet is a very powerful force to battle against in battle. Realizing that in order to successfully counter all foes, she would have to master, or at least have sufficient experience in, the ice type. Appealing to the number of my Pokemon that can use ice attacks, Bane in particular, Jet eventually learned an ice attack.
Special Attack: Sheer Power (Ice)
An ice attack with energy usage and power roughly equal to Hidden Power, released in the form of a light blue beam. Usable 3 times per battle.

Apollo: Male Dragonair (Level 4)
Bio: Apollo is one of the very few of my Pokemon who have been with my squad from the very beginning. However, his ability has only recently been realized, now a prime fighter of my squad, and obviously a very fierce opponent to face, doing very well in all of his battles. Most recently, however, he lost to another Dragonair, a battle very, very close to the very end. Convinced that if he would have lasted another round he would have won the battle, he trained endlessly until he regained his confidence, and gained a very useful characteristic from it...
Signature Training: Dragon's Strength (Dragon)
From his extensive training, if Apollo normally would be knocked out, he will remain active on the field until the next turn, at the end of which he will faint, no matter what. Apollo may be knocked out sooner by opponent attacks, however, provided they would be enough to knock it out.

Io: Male Charizard (Level 4)
Bio: Ever since Io was born, he always felt as though he was a true dragon. Abandoned at birth, he was found and brought to a dragon sanctuary, the home of many Bagon, Gible, and Dratini. Though he was shunned from the dragon games, laughed at and called names, the then Charmander felt that his dragon heart would win out in the end. He worked tirelessly to perfect his draconic techniques, though even so he was not truly a dragon. Realizing that in this environment he would never achieve his goals, Io set out on a journey to attempt to become a dragon. He attempted every ludicrous idea which he thought of: he would throw himself off of cliffs to attempt to emulate a Bagon’s thick skull, barely surviving the fall and needing to nurse his injuries for several weeks before even being able to walk again, and would even attempt to swim to mimic Dratini. The latter almost cost the now Charmeleon his life. He was rescued by an adult Dragonite, who carried the Charmeleon’s almost lifeless body to its island, which was populated by many dragons of all types. However, these dragons, instead of rejecting Io, embraced him. They began to help him hone his dragon skills even further than he had before, though in doing so, he neglected his fire attacks. A large scar runs diagonally across Io’s chest from a battle against an invading group of Salamence. With this battle, Io felt that it had finally achieved its goal of becoming a dragon type. Its physiology mirrored this transition, its tail taking on a blue tint in addition to the reddish orange flame that it had been previously.
Type Change: Dragon (Fire/Dragon)
Io is now a Fire/Dragon type with all of the associated resistances and weaknesses. Its dragon type attacks are slightly more powerful and take slightly less energy. However, its fire attacks are slightly less powerful due to the emphasis that Io has put on its dragon type training and use a proportional amount less energy. Io’s flying ability is somewhat diminished, becoming slightly slower and slightly less agile. The de-emphasis of his training on fire type moves, however, has rendered his Ember and Overheat completely unusable. The pride he has gained from his training has caused him to reject traditional fighting tactics which he sees as giving an unfair advantage or depending on luck, and as such, will not use Attract, Beat Up, Belly Drum, Captivate, Double Team, Endure, Sleep Talk, Swagger, or Toxic. Io, however, retains its weakness to water, takes neutral damage from electric attacks, and does not gain additional resistance to fire type attacks.

Toruk: Male Aerodactyl (Level 4)

Gyatso: Male Skarmory (Level 4)

Cascade: Genderless Starmie (Level 4)
Bio: The lake that Cascade lived in before its capture originally was sparkling clean. However, businesses from the cities began to run pipes to the lake and dump toxic waste into it. The water types in the lake either died or migrated to another area, though Cascade chose to stay in its home. Poison types were attracted to the area and Cascade found itself needing to use its psychic abilities to keep them at bay as well. Eventually, however, a Tentacruel moved into the area. Twice the size of a normal Tentacruel, Cascade’s psychic abilities were largely ineffective against it. It was forced to leave the area and while in exile from its home, Cascade trained itself until it learned to use a more powerful psychic move. After learning this move, it returned in triumph, defeating the Tentacruel and driving the remaining poison types out.
Special Attack: Death Star (Psychic)
Cascade glows gold with psychic energy for several seconds, during which time its weakness to dark, ghost, and bug attacks will double to be double-super-effective against it. After the charging time is complete, Cascade will release the psychic energy in the form of golden beams from each of its points. These beams will join together a few feet in front of Cascade and the resulting beam will attempt to strike its target. This attack is deals damage equal to a Hyper Beam and takes as much energy. This attack may be used once per battle. Cascade cannot use Hyper Beam.

Thanks for reffing Winter.

Good luck S_M, not that you really need it. Let's have a fun one, eh? ;]

Anyways, with a timely post in squad submissions, Team Dave agogogogo:

Level 5:

Myrmeleo: Male Flygon
Flygon: (Ground/Dragon) Flygon’s enlarged eyes are adapted to seeing in a sandstorm, are and such are not hindered in heavy sand or fog. They also have slightly improved vision in low light, but are more vulnerable to Flash and similar effects.
Ground Pokémon are considered to be immune to electricity while standing on the ground. If a Ground Pokémon is in the air, they take 75% the normal damage from electric attacks. If a ground type is wet, electric attacks affect it normally (unless the Pokémon is naturally wet/slimy, like Quagsire).
Dragons tend to be good swimmers and fliers. However, they hate cold weather.
Bio: Yet again, Porosus was the catalyst here. He spotted a depression in a sandbank, and before I could call him back, the (then) Tododile was tumbling down into the centre, where he disappeared for a moment. Upon surfacing, he had his jaws interlocked with a little Antlion, who he carried out of the pit. Once there, though, it soon degraded into a contest of whose jaws were stronger, which the newcomer won, sorta, by firing off a Solarbeam straight into Porosus' face, blasting him off. This seemed to strike a chord with the other members of the squad, and he quickly requested membership before the angry reptile could exact revenge. Myrmeleo likes being underground, though he often spends a lot of time asleep. He prefers not battling, but will do so vigorously, using Dig to get as close as possible before striking with his powerful jaws.
No Signature Move

Level 4:

Quoth: Male Honchkrow
Honchkrow: (Dark/Flying) Honchkrow have influnece over Murkrow. If Honchkrow is fighting a Murkrow, the Murkrow will be more reluctant to damage it.
Dark types can see in the dark. They prefer to fight at night, however light does not adversely affect them.
Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation.
Bio: Having woken up after a night camping, I found a few precious things missing. Using Harbinger's sharp nose to find the theif, a Murkrow who had a penchánt for shiny objects. After returning the objects, the Flying-type offered to guide us out of the forest, before asking to come along with us. After capturing him, it was obvious that the Murkrow was both a hesitant battler, and a fan of poetry. Putting him through Vulgaris' boot camp to bolster his confidence, his battling skills improved, though he remained flighty. He also named himself after a poem featuring a creature quite like him, while also using that creature's catchphrase for his own special move. Since evolving, his confidence has gone through the roof thanks to his pimpin' fresh plumage, though he'll still prefer to turn tail against a severely advantaged foe.

Special Attack: Nevermore! (DK):
Due to his obsession with 'The Raven' by Edgar Allen Poe, Quoth developed this move. Quoth builds up an aura of Dark energy around his body, a la Pursuit or Assurance, then screeches loudly, which has a good chance, depending on the opposing Pokémon, of shocking them, making them flinch and holding them still, similar to the effect of a Glare. As he screeches, Quoth builds the aura into a Shadow Ball-esque sphere, then fires it at the opponent, where it expands, surrounding the target in Dark energy. Quoth then concentrates, and banishes the last used move from the opponents memory, decreeing that it shall use the move Nevermore. This move will not work for moves of the opponents type, and the effect lasts 3-4 rounds. Quoth cannot make a Pikachu forget Thunderbolt, but can make a Meowth forget Water Pulse, or a Squirtle forget Ice Beam. This attack consumes the energy of Fire blast. As a result, Quoth loses access to the moves Assurance, Night Shade, Screech, Mean Look and Torment, and can only use Nevermore! once per match.

Pelly: Female Pelipper
Pelipper (Water/Flying) Pelipper can carry up to three small Pokemon in it's beak, as long as their combined weight is within reason, Pokemon inside Pelipper's beak can still launch attacks from within, however, such attacks will be less accurate. Pelipper cannot have a Pokemon in it's beak as a sig move
Water Pokémon are able to hold their breath under water. The time varies, from about half an hour to one hour for reptilians and mammals, and indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are also, generally, good swimmers.
Flying Pokémon, with a few exceptions, all fly. Those who cannot are faster and more agile in their chosen mode of transportation.
Bio: Living in a coastal city, Wingulls are a-plenty, scavenging food from anywhere. Pelly was no exception, swiping some food first from myself, then from Porosus. Mistake. The Croconaw blasted her with his draconic powers, forcing her to battle him. After a win over the seabird, I captured her and added her to the team. Pelly is a cheerful bird, always on the lookout for food, preferring to set atop my head or on my shoulder. She's even willing to engage Electric-types in battle, not letting her typing hold her back. She also seems to think she's a parrot.
No Signature Move

Ra: Genderless (Male) Solrock
Solrock: (Rock/Psychic) Solrock is capable of generating vast amounts of heat by spinning, enough to vaporise moderate and weaker water attacks or dissipate fog. Energy use is equal to Fire Spin and is usable twice per battle. It has slightly more fire energy then normal and can levitate indefinitely.
Rock types generally have hard bodies, which makes them resistant to unskilled (non-fighting) blows. However, most are so heavy that they will sink in water, so they stay away from deep-water sources if possible. Rock types prefer heat to cold.
Psychics are considered to automatically be familiar with psychic abilities. Thus, they can use Psychic to move and toss Pokémon. If facing a non-bug, non-dark opponent, psychics can sense their opponent somewhat, making accuracy reducing attacks less effective.
Bio: Finding an ancient temple honouring mythological deities, a Solrock was the only remaining creature within. Thanks to Dendrobat, Sally and Myrmeleo, we were able to gain access to the building, but the Meteorite blocked our path. A co-ordinated strike managed to bring him down, and he recognised the power of our team. Since he had been sealed up for so long, the Solrock requested to go with us, so that he may see the outside world he had not seen for thousands of years. With his great age has come great wisdom, and his own power. I named him for the Egyption Sun God, but it seems he shares a trait with his alien counterpart from Stargate.

Special Training - Eye of Ra:
Like his Goa'uld namesake, Ra's eyes can glow at will. While they are glowing, energy based attacks will be 1.25x more powerful, while costing 1.5x general energy. Each round this state is active costs very good energy. Entering this state counts as a move, exiting does not, but after deactivating this state, Ra cannot enter it again during the match even if switched.

Esca: Female Lanturn
Lanturn: (Water/Electric) Lanturn are fish, and thus are slow and nearly immobile on land, but are faster and more agile in the water. Whenever a Lanturn uses an electric attack in the water, it creates a small amount of electricity around it, shocking anything in the water with it within 10 feet of it (damage is considered equal to a Thundershock for the most powerful electric attacks). As an electric type, it is immune to recoil from using electric attacks in the water or during a Rain Dance. It may also use its antennas as a light source in the same way that the Mareep family does with their tails.
Water Pokémon are able to hold their breath under water. The time varies, from about half an hour to one hour for reptilians and mammals, and indefinitely for fish and squid like Pokémon. They are also, generally, good swimmers.
Electric types, in general, prefer areas where their electric attacks are most accurate. Thus, while hot temperatures don’t bother them, the fact that heat refracts electricity doesn’t appeal to them.
Bio: After Vulgaris, Porosus, Branchi, Selach, Sally and Mbu all went missing off a beach, Yadokari eventually came to his senses and swam me down to find them. There, I saw what had happened. All six were sitting in mid-water, hypnotised by a couple of bright lights. Swimming closer, I saw the culprit: a Chinchou. Thanks to Yadokari's slow reactions, he would not fall under the same spell, and a Psychic blast quickly stopped her tricks, freeing my other Pokémon in the process. The Electric-type moved to attack, but a Mud Shot from Sally and a volley of Seed Bombs from Vulgaris put a stop to her, allowing me to gain a new addition to the team. Esca is somewhat uppity, not really respecting other Pokémon, beleiving she has a very attractive personality, which her lights reflect. Eh, she's tolerable, and the rest of them put up with her, but some opponents need a little... persuading. Which she's more than happy to supply.
Sig Pending Approval

Level 1:

BRIAN BLESSED: Male Whismur
Whismur: (Normal) Whismur is completely immune to any sound-based attack, any sound based attack used by Whismur is 25% more effective then usual
Normal types can use the greatest variety of attacks in the league: they pay for this, however, by having less type energy. They are resistant to nothing, and are weak to Fighting, taking double damage.
Bio: One of the Largest Hams of all time, BRIAN BLESSED was somehow transformed into a Whismur so that he can ham up the Pokémon world. Of course, a Whismur would provide the evolutinary steps to be AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE! In the meantime, he practices his vocal talent in battle, to be as hammy as can be. He also has a big, bushy beard.
Sig Pending Approval

Leaving BRIAN BLESSED as L1 so he can level up/evolve at the end of this.

Well then, since I'm so suicidal, why not chose a Pokémon posessed by an evil alien?

Ra, kree! Kel shak!

Round One, THE BATTLE BEGINS

Ra vs. Apollo
Ra, the Solrock, and Apollo, the Dragonair are released on one of many stone pillars, 100 feet up sea level, where both of the floating 'mon feel comfortable. Both are about two yards/meters apart, with Ra floating a distance of the ground, where his foe Apollo is. Apollo deeply exhales, feeling some Psychic power expended for an Agility boost. Ra then... oozes a Toxic liquid from his rocky body, and flings it at Apollo with some strange shaking gesture. The toxin is absorbed into his skin, but he take little notice of it. Ra then Psyches himself Up, imitating his opponents Agility boost. They're now both feeling super speedy, which leaves me wondering how an Agility would speed up a levitating Pokemon like Ra.

Apollo used some pretty good energy this round, pushing him close towards the midpoint of his first quadrant. Ra used more, though, putting him right above that midpoint.

The two took no damage, staying on perfect. Toxic will take a while to have effects, probably about two or three rounds from now.

The fire lords are still about 2 yards/meters apart.

Orders from Dave, please.

Ooooh, sprites

Push him around with Psychic, since he's somehow a fraction of your weight. See about bashing him into some pillars. If you see any Hydro Pumps coming your way, then Dodge, ST Agility if you must.

A blue light envelopes Apollo, with Ra hoping to do some very dastardly things with those Psychic powers of his. Apollo is filled with terror, and Screeches loudly like a little girl! ...Well, not really. This was a battle tactic, and Apollo is released from Ra's power. Ra is disoriented by that screech from Apollo, but manages to shake it off. He waits for his opponents attacks, planning to dodge a Hydro Pump with an Agility. However, he doesn't get a pumped attack, and instead is sprayed by a thick Beam ofBubbles, tossing him around and taking a good chunk of health there.

Ra used some light energy, nothing to noticeable ccompared to last round. Apollo used a good amount of energy, putting him a bit below his foe.

Ra took a big hit this round, pushing him below the midpoint of his first quarter, very close to 3/4. Apollo took no damage, staying on perfect for now.

Same distance.

Orders from S_M, please.

(Do you give Dragonair more water energy than normal since it's an aquatic species?)

Chill it down with an Icy Wind! Then Supersonic!

Don't give it any more water energy!

Since you have no muscles, that wind shouldn't affect you too bad. Calm Mind to escape confusion (hopefully), then use Dragging-around-pillar-knocking Psychic!

(I go by the moves it learns. I'd say it would have a little bit more than a Hydro Pump if you plan using all that energy.)
Apollo, not feeling very kind, give his opponent a shivering cold Icy Wind, which fortunately for Ra doesn't slow him down. After that last attack, Ra begins to Calm his Mind, but Apollo tries to confuse him with a Supersonic pitch. Still calming his mind, Ra is able to get through the supersonic with some minor disorientation. Using his bloodbending Psychic powers, a blue light envelopes Apollo once again, and Ra uses his psychic powers to throw him against other pillars. The pillars are far away, but Apollo is still smashed into one of the many pillars. It does seem to be taking more out of Ra because of the distance, but who knows what will happen next. After being smacked into a pillar, apollo cringes as his torso flashes a shade of purple

Ra used significant energy this round, going below the midpoint of his first quarter. However, he has some left in the tank before dipping into his second quarter. He took some good damage this round, leaving him just below the the 3/4 mark.

Apollo used some considerable energy this round, going below the midpoint of his first quarter by a small amount. He took a significant hit, putting him below the midpoint of his first quarter, getting close to 3/4.

The toxic damage begins for Apollo.

Apollo is suspended about seven yards/meters away from Ra.

Orders from Dave.

Keep things simple with a Psychic Wave. Dodge any Hydro Pumps or attacks stronger than Thunderbolts, or Species Char Spin any incoming weaker Water attacks.

Sorry for the wait, guys.
Ra charges even more of his Psychic energy, and fires it off at Apollo in a Wave form. He takes the hit, but after taking the hit charges his Tail with Iron, and floats toward Ra before smashing it right into him. Ra is thrown back a bit, but doesn't do anything else for the remainder of the round. However, Apollo's body flashes a shade of purple before the round ends.

The two took just about the same amount of damage, with Apollo taking more. They both dipped a small bit below the midpoint of the 3/4 mark.

Ra used good energy that round, getting close to his second quarter. Apollo used good energy also, putting him just above his foe.

Orders from S_M, please.

Dragonbreath, dodge as necessary. If you find yourself being Psychically gripped, counter with an equal and opposite movement in another direction, Agility boosted. No 3 movers.

Ra, you're doing a fantastic job, but I'm going to need you later on, though your boosts would really help out a certain other team member.

Soooooooooo........ Baton Pass to Pelly.

Quote:
Pelly: Level 4 Female Pelipper
Let's go! Widespread Icy Wind, let's see him dodge that!

Three moves, there

Round 8

Apollo spews a Breath full of smelly Dragon energy at Ra, the misty flames washing over him and leaving a... stiff feeling in his body. He's still able to make a shiny white Baton of energy, which he passes over to Pelly, the crazy Pelipper. Pelly appears where the Baton was last, and flaps her wings a bit before getting ready to battle. Pelly blows a wide spread Icy Wind towards Apollo. Apollo tries to dodge, but gets hit by the attacks as it blows past him.

Pelly used good energy, pushing her a small bit below perfect. Apollo used substantial energy, putting him around the 3/4 mark.

Pelly is perfect on health, but Apollo took good damage from that last attack, pushing him deeper into his second quarter.

Dave has used his only three mover this round.

Orders from Dave, please.

Whip up a Twister. If you get any incoming Electric attacks, ST Agility the hell away from them. If not then just chill.

Due to Winter not being on much and SM wanting an all-water battle, this is being cancelled at mutual request.

Now to have a battle with SM that can actually finish.
