Bird Pokemon

If a bird Pokemon were to get its wings wet, say from being Psychically tossed into a pool, would it be able to fly? I don't remember it ever happening in the anime, although if memory serves, back in the Ash vs. Misty battle Misty mentioned that if she got Butterfree in the pool, she'd be able to win.

S_M reffed it that way with my Honchkrow VS. Stlbk, so I'd assume so. I'd ref it that way too, being a Zoologist and all.

Recognising you have a problem is the first step towards overcoming it.

Let's say they'd be moderately disabled but losing their flight power is kinda broken.

That would probably depend. Ducks and swans have feathers which helps them to shield against being wet, as do penguins, but the typical "bird" can't fly when drenched. It's because the water weighs them down too much.

I suppose if they could dry off ("Swellow, shake the water off your wings" could count as a move) then their flight wouldn't be too hampered. Sunny Day would probably also work.

EK has solid points. In slapstick, birds would be able to shake water off if it prevented them from flying. In realistic, the bird would probably break wing unless it was soething like Skarmory.
